- 0:11Speaker 1: and thrive in your life. She offers skills and practices
- 0:15Speaker 1: that will help you to rectify past hurt, headaches, and
- 0:19Speaker 1: pain and you transform into self confidence and personal power.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Please work with the Money Making Conversation Tina Li Forida.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Hey Rashon, how are you? I'm doing great? Now? Where
- 0:35Speaker 1: you right now? My friend? I am in Vancouver, Canada
- 0:41Speaker 1: working on a film, and Uh, I have been away
- 0:45Speaker 1: from my home now for almost six months. I did
- 0:48Speaker 1: the first five months in New Orleans where we shoot
- 0:53Speaker 1: um Cuan Sugar, and then I was home for two
- 0:57Speaker 1: weeks before I came to Vancouver to shoot this um
- 1:03Speaker 1: this movie that I'm doing this sequel. Well, we know
- 1:05Speaker 1: that you know that you do on the screen, You're
- 1:09Speaker 1: recognizable face. Being a recognizable face does that? What advantages
- 1:13Speaker 1: does it have? And are there any disadvantages to what
- 1:16Speaker 1: you're trying to do with your life? Now? You know? Um,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I believe that much of how we experience life uh
- 1:27Speaker 1: starts on the inside, and so I actually am in
- 1:32Speaker 1: a rather a rather great position as an actress, even
- 1:37Speaker 1: though I'm on a hit show. Queen Sugar has quite
- 1:42Speaker 1: a lot of fans. But Vy and I actually look different,
- 1:48Speaker 1: you know, Vy is um um she she she, We
- 1:54Speaker 1: look different. So when I'm in the airport, I don't
- 1:58Speaker 1: get the same sort of of attention that the guys get.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Um and and I like that. But let me also
- 2:09Speaker 1: say very clearly, it is because of fans and an
- 2:14Speaker 1: opportunity like Aunt VI that my other passions and entrepreneurial
- 2:22Speaker 1: pursuits are supported. So I am good with, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 1: connecting with fans and making sure that I am thankful
- 2:33Speaker 1: for this opportunity that I am experienced because it's helping
- 2:37Speaker 1: me to not just fulfill my passion my other passions,
- 2:43Speaker 1: it's also helped me to build out my platform right
- 2:46Speaker 1: now that I want to. And that's what we brought
- 2:48Speaker 1: you to talk about your other passion. But before we
- 2:51Speaker 1: move off, a Queen Sugar, you know you are working
- 2:55Speaker 1: with associated with two of the more powerful males, not
- 3:01Speaker 1: just in Hollywood, I think in just social social circles.
- 3:05Speaker 1: That's Oprah Winfrey and Ava Duvenais. Absolutely um Oprah has
- 3:12Speaker 1: transformed the game, not just for African American women women
- 3:16Speaker 1: in period, becoming a billionaire, becoming an entrepreneur. Um, she
- 3:21Speaker 1: was to talk to your hosts, and she she understood
- 3:23Speaker 1: how to use the media to build brands. And Aba Duvenais,
- 3:29Speaker 1: who Netflix series has grown at a more. It was
- 3:35Speaker 1: the most watch Netflix series in the history of Netflix.
- 3:40Speaker 1: And I think when they see Us has been nominated
- 3:44Speaker 1: for sixteen. Absolutely that's how powerful that series is. So
- 3:52Speaker 1: if people haven't seen it, they really need to tune
- 3:55Speaker 1: into Netflix to see. When they see us, Tina, I
- 3:58Speaker 1: can't tell you are voted for, but I am a
- 4:01Speaker 1: Emmy voter, and uh, I knew about that sixteen So
- 4:05Speaker 1: I kind of like got to back off a little
- 4:07Speaker 1: bit on all that nomination talk because I don't want
- 4:10Speaker 1: to lose my voting privileges. Well, I don't mind saying
- 4:16Speaker 1: who I voted. There you go, you if you if
- 4:21Speaker 1: you watch UH, when they see Us, you will experience
- 4:28Speaker 1: the power of television, the power of of film and media.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And I think that Eva is telling UH stories about
- 4:40Speaker 1: our communities in ways that UH not just deserve this
- 4:47Speaker 1: kind of recognition because she is a consummate filmmaker but also,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you know, it is very important to our dreams, to
- 4:57Speaker 1: our ideas of what we can achieve even this world,
- 5:00Speaker 1: to be able to see ourselves, to see ourselves in
- 5:04Speaker 1: all the iterations that represent to us. And so I
- 5:09Speaker 1: applaud that um in Ava's work as much as I
- 5:13Speaker 1: applaud her consummate filmmaking abilities. So what is your takeaway
- 5:20Speaker 1: when you when I mentioned Nate, when I say Open
- 5:22Speaker 1: went Free? What is your takeaway when I say Open Winter?
- 5:28Speaker 1: My takeaway is committed um. I think that that Oprah
- 5:34Speaker 1: understands who she is and the game, and I think
- 5:40Speaker 1: that she understood that coming in long before she had
- 5:46Speaker 1: the power that she has now. She was constantly I'm
- 5:52Speaker 1: guessing because I don't know. I've been in Oprah's company
- 5:55Speaker 1: just four times, but I believe that she is a
- 6:01Speaker 1: person who is constantly refining who she is, and she
- 6:08Speaker 1: comes to the table being smart enough two also leverage
- 6:16Speaker 1: these the intelligence UH know how and wherewithal of others.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And I think that that's really really a key component
- 6:29Speaker 1: in leadership and success, being able to UM surround herself
- 6:35Speaker 1: with the right people and being able to leverage and
- 6:40Speaker 1: quickly leverage UM talent and great ideas. That's amazing because
- 6:47Speaker 1: I feel I have been around him more than four times.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Unfortunately to be able to um sit in the room
- 6:55Speaker 1: and listen to her talk when I but I have
- 6:58Speaker 1: not been around of a duvenat so I've only been
- 7:02Speaker 1: able to hear her talk from afar watch her work.
- 7:06Speaker 1: What is it like being around such a talented I
- 7:10Speaker 1: would have to say visionary. Who she is a visionary,
- 7:14Speaker 1: no question about it. She is a visionary. And um
- 7:19Speaker 1: Eva has one of the sharpest minds I have encountered.
- 7:26Speaker 1: She um. The way thought hits her mind and comes
- 7:32Speaker 1: out of her mouth is admirable to me, you know, UM,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and she is always clear about what she is saying.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And um is very forthright, uh in my experience, UM
- 7:50Speaker 1: about what she says. Ay, Tina, we're gonna go to
- 7:53Speaker 1: a break when we come back, I introduced, she is
- 7:56Speaker 1: in her fitness strategist and coach. We're gonna dive into
- 8:00Speaker 1: all that. I got a ton of talking points, so
- 8:02Speaker 1: they're gonna talk about. But I wanted to get the
- 8:03Speaker 1: Queen's Sugar out the way because that's important to the
- 8:06Speaker 1: brand that you're working with. Its important to people who
- 8:08Speaker 1: know the three sixty life that you live, you're able
- 8:12Speaker 1: to accomplish that at such a high level. Listen to
- 8:15Speaker 1: what she's doing at another level. Hi, this ra Sean McDonald,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and you're listening to money making conversations my guests on
- 8:23Speaker 1: the show. We talked about, you know, her acting career.
- 8:27Speaker 1: She's in Vancouver right now, uh doing some acting. As
- 8:30Speaker 1: they say, pays the bills. There's one way I love
- 8:34Speaker 1: her because it's called multiple strings of income, because she
- 8:36Speaker 1: has that going on, and she has other things going
- 8:38Speaker 1: on that that, in other words, put different checks in
- 8:42Speaker 1: that mailbox. And that's where we're all about. She's an
- 8:44Speaker 1: inner city fitness strategist and coach. She's committed to sharing
- 8:47Speaker 1: the nitty greeted aspects of developing your well being so
- 8:51Speaker 1: you can fully, fully live and thrive in your life.
- 8:55Speaker 1: She offers skill and practices that will help you to
- 8:58Speaker 1: rectify past hurts. Let's talk about that was past hurts.
- 9:02Speaker 1: What does that mean, Tina, Well, it means that every
- 9:07Speaker 1: single the one thing that we all have in common,
- 9:11Speaker 1: the one thing that every human being across the globe
- 9:15Speaker 1: has in common, is the experience, and often the unresolved
- 9:21Speaker 1: experience of some hurt drama, trauma, upset, disappointment, or fear,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and we don't talk about our hurts, drama's, trauma's upsets, disappointments,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and fears. And the problem with that is that our
- 9:36Speaker 1: nervous system, we have not learned the actual nature of
- 9:42Speaker 1: our nervous system. Uh. Do you know that a gazelle
- 9:46Speaker 1: when a gazelle is uh fleeing the chase of a lion.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Once the gazelle gets to safety, it actually takes some
- 9:57Speaker 1: moments to shake its shake this body, not just because
- 10:01Speaker 1: it's nervous, but it shakes its body willfully as a
- 10:05Speaker 1: way of releasing the cortisol and the hormones that we're
- 10:11Speaker 1: used for the flight. We human beings have these experiences
- 10:18Speaker 1: in our lives, and a lot of times these experience
- 10:22Speaker 1: become locked in our system, in our tissue because we
- 10:29Speaker 1: aren't aware of how important it is to let those
- 10:36Speaker 1: past experience complete themselves so that they can move through
- 10:41Speaker 1: our bodies and out. But what happens is that it
- 10:46Speaker 1: gets stuck inside. We wind up then um having some
- 10:53Speaker 1: sort of shame or secrecy that has now entered our lives.
- 10:58Speaker 1: We move into some level of judgment and all of
- 11:03Speaker 1: those energies work to keep us in a surviving state
- 11:10Speaker 1: as opposed to a thriving state. And we need to
- 11:15Speaker 1: learn this information so that we can work with ourselves
- 11:19Speaker 1: more consciously and proactively and take charge of the insanity
- 11:27Speaker 1: that is going on inside so that we can thrive.
- 11:31Speaker 1: That's powerful, you know when you when you talk about
- 11:34Speaker 1: that physical release, you'll see that in sprinters. You know
- 11:37Speaker 1: what they think in their shake and they're they're telling
- 11:40Speaker 1: them want to slowly walk around the track to just
- 11:42Speaker 1: a jaw. You know. Sometimes you see it when you
- 11:46Speaker 1: take advantage when they tell you on a treadmill, it
- 11:48Speaker 1: has that cool down session. That's what that's all about.
- 11:51Speaker 1: When you're exerting yourself. And in this case of the
- 11:54Speaker 1: gazelle story, it was exerting itself because it was out
- 11:57Speaker 1: of fear. It was trying to survive or that that
- 12:00Speaker 1: that pushed the level of stress and that in that
- 12:03Speaker 1: animals body, that that is nature has told him you
- 12:07Speaker 1: gotta relax, You gotta gotta like chake it off. In
- 12:10Speaker 1: shake it off, you just can't. You can't keep operating
- 12:13Speaker 1: at that same level. And that's what people do with hurt.
- 12:16Speaker 1: They don't shake off the hurt, they don't shake off
- 12:18Speaker 1: the pain, and so that pain stays with them in relationships,
- 12:22Speaker 1: that pain stays with them, how they treat their children
- 12:24Speaker 1: at pain can stay with them, how they work. If
- 12:27Speaker 1: they don't shake off that pain or they don't shake
- 12:29Speaker 1: off that hurt, then guess what, they're only hurting themselves internally,
- 12:33Speaker 1: which can shorten their lives. We can affect their health
- 12:36Speaker 1: and more importantly, affect their relationships. That's what you're saying.
- 12:40Speaker 1: That's exactly right. And when it comes to shaking off hurt, drama, trauma, upsets,
- 12:45Speaker 1: and disappointments, um, Actually, you know, there are literally physical
- 12:51Speaker 1: exercises that include shaking the body. But when we're talking
- 12:56Speaker 1: about that internal landscape be you know, mental, emotional, and
- 13:02Speaker 1: spiritual landscape, one of the most important things that we
- 13:07Speaker 1: can do for ourselves to resolve the path is to
- 13:13Speaker 1: actually acknowledge it. So many people are walking around with
- 13:19Speaker 1: things that took place in their lives and they learned
- 13:23Speaker 1: some sort of message that they're just supposed to swallow it,
- 13:29Speaker 1: act tough, get over it. And when shame is involved,
- 13:35Speaker 1: that often includes not even talking about it, but it
- 13:40Speaker 1: is through acknowledging, literally saying this happened to me when
- 13:48Speaker 1: we can actually just acknowledge to ourselves. You know, it's
- 13:54Speaker 1: wonderful to start with ourselves. If you can acknowledge to
- 13:57Speaker 1: yourself and then maybe one place, one other person where
- 14:01Speaker 1: you feel safe, where you feel like you can say
- 14:05Speaker 1: this without feeling m afraid of being judged or without
- 14:11Speaker 1: feeling like it lessens you in some way. That is
- 14:17Speaker 1: like the gazelle shaking it off and off. You hear
- 14:23Speaker 1: what I'm saying, You know I'm what I'm Come on,
- 14:27Speaker 1: let's talk about this Inner Fitness, Outer Beauty Tour that's
- 14:31Speaker 1: coming to Atlanta September fourteen at the Riverside Epicenter. Start
- 14:36Speaker 1: to nine into two on September fourteen. I'm talking to
- 14:40Speaker 1: Tina Star of Queen Sugar. She also was star Get
- 14:44Speaker 1: your Life Right. You shake it off and tell you
- 14:49Speaker 1: don't don't, don't, don't don't normal. He says, you can
- 14:52Speaker 1: see a lot of things on this show, but that
- 14:54Speaker 1: past hurt. Like That's why I pulled it out because
- 14:57Speaker 1: that line right there is destroying people every day because
- 15:02Speaker 1: they don't know how to say walk, walk away from
- 15:05Speaker 1: the moment they hold it. That extends into so many
- 15:09Speaker 1: thing they don't know how to say, so, I'm sorry.
- 15:11Speaker 1: They don't how to say they don't know how to
- 15:13Speaker 1: forgive those The hurt she's talking about isn't always a
- 15:18Speaker 1: physical hurt. It's not a broken leg, it's not a
- 15:23Speaker 1: some surgery that you need. It's emotional, emotional hurt and stress.
- 15:28Speaker 1: It's destroying people. So tell us about this Interfitness All
- 15:32Speaker 1: the Beauty Tour. It's coming to Atlanta September fourteen at
- 15:36Speaker 1: the Riverside Epicenter. Yeah. Well, I'm so excited about the
- 15:43Speaker 1: Atlanta date. Um we've been doing this the tour. Atlanta
- 15:48Speaker 1: is our fourth stop and UM, in a nutshell, the
- 15:53Speaker 1: Interfitness Outer Beauty Tour is about disrupting the old patterns
- 15:59Speaker 1: in your life, disrupting everything in a fun, interactive, uplifting,
- 16:07Speaker 1: transformational kind of way. It is about realizing that the
- 16:13Speaker 1: status quo, no matter how it shows up, is is
- 16:18Speaker 1: part of the problem. When we live our lives today
- 16:23Speaker 1: the same way we live them yesterday, we are building
- 16:29Speaker 1: a grave for ourselves. We are putting ourselves in a
- 16:34Speaker 1: box that doesn't have enough light in it. And so
- 16:39Speaker 1: the Inner Fitness Outer Beauty Tour gives us an opportunity
- 16:45Speaker 1: to talk about experience what it means to disrupt unhappiness
- 16:52Speaker 1: and literally we are going to right there, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 1: within the time a lot it We're going to experience
- 17:00Speaker 1: ways of being able to just lift your spirit in
- 17:05Speaker 1: your mood and have a higher idea of yourself, set
- 17:10Speaker 1: an intention for your life about what's possible, and then
- 17:15Speaker 1: no ways, UM learn ways to like get back to
- 17:19Speaker 1: that intention over and over again. And then we are
- 17:22Speaker 1: going to disrupt this whole concept around sex and sexuality.
- 17:29Speaker 1: There's so much misinformation out here about sex and there
- 17:33Speaker 1: is so much good to be found in our sexuality.
- 17:39Speaker 1: So we're going to examine and explore what it means
- 17:44Speaker 1: to live a juicy life and and that's not what
- 17:47Speaker 1: you think you know, UM. And then we are going
- 17:50Speaker 1: to learn away one powerful technique from um a yoga
- 17:57Speaker 1: instructor by the name of on a Hawk. You don't
- 18:00Speaker 1: need to bring a mat because we're gonna be sitting
- 18:02Speaker 1: in this beautiful at the center. But any time, whether
- 18:07Speaker 1: you're driving, you're at work, you know, you're standing in
- 18:11Speaker 1: the shower, you'll be able to UM employ some of
- 18:16Speaker 1: the information that owner is gonna share so that you
- 18:19Speaker 1: can recenter yourself, you know, and breathe in a way
- 18:24Speaker 1: that will less in stress and move you to a
- 18:27Speaker 1: place where you are more open. And when we are
- 18:30Speaker 1: more open, there is a greater sense and uh uh
- 18:35Speaker 1: and um opportunity for hope and possibility to emerge. And
- 18:42Speaker 1: hope and possibility are powerful actions that we take in
- 18:48Speaker 1: in designing and moving our lives towards the experience that
- 18:54Speaker 1: we most want. But then the part that I am
- 18:58Speaker 1: also super excited about is I'm bringing my um celebrity
- 19:03Speaker 1: stylists and friend Jay Bowl in to the stage and
- 19:07Speaker 1: We're gonna disrupt the whole idea of style. You know.
- 19:12Speaker 1: One of the things that that I love about working
- 19:15Speaker 1: with Jay is that we both love putting together things
- 19:20Speaker 1: that aren't supposed to go together, and we slam them
- 19:23Speaker 1: together and oh my god, it becomes a slaying moment. Well,
- 19:28Speaker 1: he feels that way about everything. So he loves the
- 19:33Speaker 1: curvy woman as much as he loves the twiggy woman.
- 19:36Speaker 1: You know, he loves he loves the opportunity, uh for
- 19:42Speaker 1: women to to flower in who they are and then
- 19:48Speaker 1: dress that, you know, flower in your spirit, which is
- 19:52Speaker 1: what the inner fitness part does. And then we're gonna
- 19:56Speaker 1: address that spirit, and we're gonna own the and we're
- 20:00Speaker 1: gonna love our body. I'm talking to Tina. Uh, just
- 20:04Speaker 1: the interfitness, All the Beauty to it. The schedule to
- 20:06Speaker 1: come to Atlanta September fourteen would be at the Riverside
- 20:10Speaker 1: epicenter Um. Tina, you have a book coming out in November.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I want you to come back on my show. It's
- 20:15Speaker 1: called A Little Book of a Big Lies, The Little
- 20:17Speaker 1: Book of Big Lives. It's been an amazing I hope,
- 20:20Speaker 1: I hope you consider me a friend and come back
- 20:22Speaker 1: because I'm gonna read the book. And uh. And also
- 20:25Speaker 1: when you when you, I want to let you know what,
- 20:27Speaker 1: Sean McDonald will make himself available for any of your
- 20:30Speaker 1: panels because I'm already connected because that past hurt hit
- 20:34Speaker 1: home with me because you're speaking the truth and people
- 20:37Speaker 1: didn't understand that. Sometimes when you hear the truth, you
- 20:39Speaker 1: run from it. But if you go to this Interfitness
- 20:42Speaker 1: All the Beauty, not only will you walk away uplifted,
- 20:46Speaker 1: but you walk away a better person. Tina, thank you
- 20:48Speaker 1: for coming on my show, Money Making Conversations. Thank you
- 20:51Speaker 1: so much for having me. I'll be back, I know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you will, and I appreciate you
