- 0:00Why is it wrong to have a relationship with someone of the
- 0:04same sex? I'm not saying what is and what
- 0:06isn't sin. I'm repeating what God has said
- 0:08is or what isn't sin. I have just as much of a problem
- 0:12with a male and female who are married in the church and are
- 0:16not open to life. I am not dating women because
- 0:18I've tasted and seen a better love, a deeper love, the love
- 0:23that my own little soul actually has been longing for since since
- 0:27I was born. Hey, Fred.
- 0:31Hi. We've already been talking so we
- 0:34can start more officially. Hello, Welcome to the podcast,
- 0:37Kim. It's great to be on.
- 0:39They're great. All right, you're you're a
- 0:40repeat here. So people already have seen your
- 0:43lovely face, but. I'm back.
- 0:45You're back. Yeah, invited back.
- 0:47We miss you in California, Kim. I miss California.
- 0:49It's good to be back. It's still home.
- 0:51You recently took off to somewhere else.
- 0:53Where are you now? I am now officially in Dallas.
- 0:56Dallas, TX. I know I get 6 days.
- 1:01I've been there six days and I love it.
- 1:03I absolutely love it. I don't go outside a lot, I stay
- 1:06inside. It's air conditioned.
- 1:08I do not love the heat, but the community, just the people.
- 1:11I genuinely I'm like OK God, now I get it because I did not know
- 1:14why he was moving me. Wow, we still have good people
- 1:17in California, you know that, right?
- 1:18Absolutely, I'm one of them. There are special people in
- 1:21Dallas, that is. True, it is there.
- 1:23There's just a community like I haven't really seen.
- 1:25You that's good. You need that for your ministry.
- 1:27So I, I want folks listening. We've done a couple episodes
- 1:30with you, but you have a new ministry out.
- 1:33So I'd love for you to share about boldly beloved and then
- 1:35we're going to do some rundown if it's OK with you on some
- 1:38stuff happening in pop culture and get your commentary,
- 1:40especially on sexuality and identity issues.
- 1:42All right, so what's boldly beloved?
- 1:44So I just realized like the Lord was doing so much in my personal
- 1:48life on regarding sexuality, and then I realized, Oh my gosh,
- 1:52this is so much deeper than just my sexuality.
- 1:55This is actually my identity that I'm having an issue with.
- 1:58And then missions, I was doing missions work.
- 2:00And and so it was just kind of these three key things for me
- 2:03that I saw in my own personal life.
- 2:05Like I didn't have sexuality under the Lord's leadership.
- 2:09So my identity was off. I didn't know that I was a
- 2:11beloved daughter. I thought I was a daughter, but
- 2:14like one that wasn't really loved.
- 2:16And then I was out doing missions, trying to be loved.
- 2:19And so the Lord just kind of showed me my own life and was
- 2:22like, hey, if you've struggled with this, other people might
- 2:25too. And so just really hitting on
- 2:27these core things of who are we? What is our sexuality, right?
- 2:31And how does that align with our identity in Christ?
- 2:33And then now how do we live this out missionally as sons and
- 2:37daughters? And so yeah, it's, it's been
- 2:40something that just has naturally kind of grown.
- 2:43I didn't want another ministry, but really what it did was kind
- 2:46of encompass everything that God's been doing in my own
- 2:48personal life and that I share about so.
- 2:50I think, I think your story, Kim, is so important.
- 2:54I just, I think everyone needs to know it because you're what's
- 2:58so powerful about what your story, what you do with your
- 2:59story is that it's not just the story of, oh, I was living the
- 3:02lesbian lifestyle and then I turned straight or something
- 3:05like, you know, I think a lot of people think, Oh, well, that's
- 3:07just some Christian propaganda, you know, to try to twist
- 3:12people's arms. Christians are going to try to
- 3:13make you straight, not make you true to yourself.
- 3:15But your story goes to a much deeper question of what it means
- 3:19to be human and what it means to be in relationship with God.
- 3:23And so before we dive into the culture stuff, because I do want
- 3:26to get to some of the pop culture stories and news stories
- 3:29that I think need to be talked about.
- 3:31What what is at the core of 1's identity and why?
- 3:35Why are sexual attractions, I think some people caught up in
- 3:39LGBTQ plus I whatever ideology think my sexual attractions are
- 3:43core to my identity. Why are sexual attractions
- 3:46actually not core to 1's identity?
- 3:49And what is core to 1's identity?
- 3:51Well, I'll go back to Scripture. Like we are made in the likeness
- 3:55and image of God, right? And so the core of our identity
- 3:59is going to be God himself, right?
- 4:01We are made in his likeness and and in his image.
- 4:04And sexuality is part of our human expression.
- 4:07And to say that it's not and to suffocate that or to push it
- 4:11down is not God's way either. But but to say that my sexual
- 4:16attraction is who I am is actually just doing a disservice
- 4:20to your very self because you are so we are so much more than
- 4:23our sexuality, right? Like it's a part of us.
- 4:25It is absolutely. But every part of us is supposed
- 4:29to come into the under the lordship right of God himself
- 4:33because we're made in his image. He's not made in our image.
- 4:36And so I think really what we're kind of doing sometimes when we
- 4:40we allow our attractions, whatever they be.
- 4:42And, and I would say this honestly, even to those who have
- 4:46inline sexual attractions that line up with the Lord's ways,
- 4:50sometimes they can make their sexuality, their
- 4:52heterosexuality, their identity. And guess what?
- 4:56Just as wrong because they're still missing out.
- 4:59Our identity actually was purchased by Jesus.
- 5:02It was something that was actually shed on the cross.
- 5:06It's the blood of the Lamb that actually brings me back into
- 5:09right identity, right? He paid the price for me and for
- 5:13you while we were still sinners. He died for us.
- 5:16And so for me to take on anything that doesn't look like
- 5:19Christ and then identify myself as that, it's just, it's almost
- 5:25like lashing him again on the cross.
- 5:27It's the the very thing he died for was sin.
- 5:31Any type of sin, whether it be homosexuality, whether it be
- 5:34idolatry, idolatry, any of this, right, that he gave his life
- 5:37for. And so I think really what makes
- 5:40me sad, what makes me sad is when I see someone identifying
- 5:44as well, I'm gay. OK, Well, this is this is your
- 5:48inclination. This is what you're drawn to.
- 5:49This is who you're drawn to. But do you know you're more than
- 5:52that? Do you know you're more than
- 5:54that? And and that is where I don't
- 5:56know that we as Christians sometimes do the best job is
- 5:58actually telling people that there's more, there's more.
- 6:01I'm not saying let's just ignore that.
- 6:03But hey, there's more and we start to experience like that
- 6:07God actually really loves us and that he's for us and he's not
- 6:10against us. And we learned that we actually
- 6:12can come into this son daughter relationship as beloved sons and
- 6:17daughters. We start to experience a
- 6:19fullness of life. And it's not just hinging on
- 6:22something that honestly could change.
- 6:23I, I know people that had no counselling or anything.
- 6:27They once were dating the same sex and then they met someone of
- 6:31the opposite sex and they fell in love.
- 6:33There was no conversion therapy. There was no, you know,
- 6:35counseling or anything going on. But it, it changed.
- 6:39So now who are they? I think the LGBTQ ideology may
- 6:43say, well, they are bi or maybe they are, you know, Polly, like
- 6:49they'll, they'll kind of. Switch.
- 6:51Yeah, they're. They're, you know, they're on a,
- 6:53some sort of a spectrum of sexuality.
- 6:55So there is some identity for specifically that person who
- 6:59thought they were attracted to the same sex and then ended up
- 7:01falling in love with the opposite.
- 7:02But see, I think that goes back to because the world's always
- 7:05trying to put a label on us. The world's always trying to
- 7:08tell us who we are when God himself has already said who we
- 7:11are. And so if we're not rooted and
- 7:13grounded in our identity as beloved sons and daughters,
- 7:16we're going to probably pick up these other things and let the
- 7:18world label, you know, in 10 years, these these labels are
- 7:22going to turn into something else.
- 7:23We were not created to be constantly changing like that,
- 7:27like we're in a world that's always changing.
- 7:28And so the world can only offer us these new titles, these new
- 7:32names, these new things. But it's it's, we're just living
- 7:35less than if we're. But I would say the same.
- 7:39I would say the same to someone who says I'm a lawyer, right?
- 7:43Well, Amen. Awesome.
- 7:44I'm so glad you're a lawyer. It's beautiful.
- 7:46It took a lot of work, but what about when or if you ever get
- 7:48fired? Or what about when AI takes over
- 7:51and you're no longer needed? Who are you now?
- 7:53Who are you now? So this is not just around
- 7:56sexuality. This is sometimes even over the
- 7:57gifts and talents God's given us or the careers he has us in, or
- 8:01the, the, you know, one Commission you have right now in
- 8:04your life. But when that show goes away or
- 8:07that whatever, even even for me, oh, I'm a speaker.
- 8:09Well, what if I get cancelled? Or what if?
- 8:13We physically lose our ability to speak.
- 8:15I mean, I think about Joni Erickson Tata as an example.
- 8:18I was just talking with a friend of hers, Renee Bondi, who was a
- 8:21paraplegic. I mean, she became a paraplegic
- 8:24I think months before she was going to get married or maybe it
- 8:26was even weeks freak accident. And her whole idea of her
- 8:31identity as a singer, as a dancer, was dramatically
- 8:34changed. And she had to wrestle with that
- 8:36core question of who am I? Who is Renee?
- 8:39Céline Dion, it breaks my heart. I was watching her and I'm like,
- 8:43I pray to God. She knows she's so much more
- 8:45than her voice. She has a gift.
- 8:47She had a gift. And who is she now like?
- 8:51And that's. She Can't Sing it all anymore.
- 8:53It's yeah. I mean, she has a hard time even
- 8:55like, speaking, let alone singing.
- 8:57And it and it's so hard to watch because when I've seen just very
- 9:00brief things, I see a woman that was so standing tall and, you
- 9:05know, just amazing in different ways of not talking morally or
- 9:09getting into that. But she just had such a gift and
- 9:11she used it. And now she doesn't know who she
- 9:14is. She's lost her identity because
- 9:17it was rooted in something that was part of what made her up.
- 9:20But it's not the fullness. See, like if I, God forbid, lose
- 9:24my legs and my arms, I want to be so rooted that I belong to
- 9:29God, that he paid for me at a price of his own blood.
- 9:33And then he says, Kim, you're worthy even if nobody else says
- 9:35you are. Well, I think the other part of
- 9:36it is, is human happiness because we want so badly to be
- 9:39happy and feel fulfilled. And so we think that all of
- 9:42these things, whether it's sexual identity or attraction or
- 9:45interest or a relationship or a talent we have or a status we
- 9:49have or a material good that we have, or an experience like a
- 9:53great, like a great vacation or some experience we have.
- 9:55We think that that's going to bring us meaning and, and value.
- 9:57And sometimes these things can. But in the ultimate sense, God
- 10:01is the ultimate value and the ultimate meaning, and we only
- 10:05experience the fullest joy and peace through him.
- 10:08And he's a good father. So even if we lose certain of
- 10:10these things in this world, he's going to have the best for us in
- 10:13eternity. But we got to go through, go to
- 10:15him. We have to trust him for.
- 10:17It well, I think that's even why the scriptures go back to like
- 10:19we need an eternal perspective and that's just hard to have in
- 10:23a very temporal world, right like we do we need to have.
- 10:26I remember I was just, I was talking to a friend a few days
- 10:28ago and she's like, I'm so scared of death.
- 10:31And I said there was actually a St.
- 10:32That said, remember thy death like every day.
- 10:35Memento Mori, yeah. Like this is real, like we don't
- 10:38know how long. And, and so if my, my very being
- 10:42is rooted in my sexuality and and nobody likes me or then who
- 10:47am I? And, and we're created.
- 10:48That's the thing. We're created to be seen, known,
- 10:50loved, chosen, desired and pursued.
- 10:53God gave us those desires and he wants to fill those desires with
- 10:57himself. I but I say this too, not just
- 11:00about the LGBT community. I think it's the human race in
- 11:03general. I see so many of my friends that
- 11:05are married and I've heard someone say, Oh my gosh, I would
- 11:07die if I lost my husband. My life would crumble if one of
- 11:12my kids went out of the church or or if I never got to see
- 11:15them. So you're so it's idols, Idols
- 11:18and anything can be an idol. That's even the things.
- 11:20Even the created good things, yeah.
- 11:22So what do you say to people that express maybe they're
- 11:26listening? Like, yeah, I agree with your
- 11:28you in theory and kind of what you're saying here, but I don't
- 11:31think that acting out on same sex attraction or any sort of
- 11:36attractions outside of the rubric of marriage, man, woman,
- 11:40lifelong, open to life marriage, Right.
- 11:41So the, the Catholic Church isn't just saying, oh, gays
- 11:44can't have sex. They're saying no one can have
- 11:46sex or do anything sexual unless it's with their spouse that
- 11:50they're married to for life and open to life with.
- 11:53And that's that's pretty exclusive, not just for people
- 11:56who consider themselves straight or bi or gay, but also for
- 11:59people who consider themselves straight.
- 12:00The reality is, we all are called to chastity.
- 12:03We're all in and outside of marriage.

- 13:45That's seven weeks coffee.com. You're going to love this coffee
- 13:48and you're going to love this mission just as much.
- 13:51What do you think? How do we communicate or how how
- 13:53would you explain this to someone who says, OK, I'm with
- 13:56you, OK, sure, monogamy, OK, I'm even with you on the monogamy
- 14:00thing. But.
- 14:01Why is it wrong to have a relationship with someone of the
- 14:05same sex? So I think it goes back to who's
- 14:08God, right? See, I have AI have a problem
- 14:12when people are like, well, you can't say what sin is.
- 14:14Well, actually we can. We can because God said it.
- 14:17So I'm actually, I'm not saying what is and what isn't sin.
- 14:20I'm repeating what God has said is or what isn't sin, you know,
- 14:24And so I think for me, a lot of times when it, when it comes to
- 14:28that, we have, we have to be sensitive to make sure we're not
- 14:32just kind of selecting which sins to talk about.
- 14:35Because see, even as a church, we talk a lot about homosexual
- 14:38sin and this that, But are we talking a lot about the sin of
- 14:41contraceptives? Are we talking about, you know,
- 14:44that I, I remember I got on a call with, with a, a young
- 14:47woman, just amazing young girl. She considers herself, you know,
- 14:50a believer in Jesus and she doesn't call herself Christian
- 14:53because she said they're, they're two faced.
- 14:56They're they say one thing and they're living another.
- 14:58And I said, what's going on? She said, well, I'm gay.
- 15:00And I said, OK, so let's, let's talk.
- 15:02And we kept talking and, and she said, you know, why do you have
- 15:05a problem with homosexuality? Why?
- 15:07Why do you think it's sin? I said, because we're not open.
- 15:10Even if I'm open to life to happen, it can't happen because
- 15:15it's out of God's order. So yes, I might be open to life
- 15:20naturally with my partner, who's a female, but God would have to
- 15:23go against his own design. He did that once, and that was
- 15:27to bring the Savior of the world, right?
- 15:28He's not going to do it again through me.
- 15:30And so in that, God's not going to go against his own design to
- 15:34bring life, even if I'm open and she's open.
- 15:36And so the what? Did they say, well, you can use
- 15:38technology? People, that's not natural.
- 15:40Now we're not. And that's where let's just stay
- 15:44within design. And I said, but you need to, you
- 15:46need to hear me loud and clear. I have just as much of a problem
- 15:51with a male and female who are married in the church and are
- 15:55not open to life. Right, because it's the same
- 15:57thing. It's rendering the sexual act
- 15:59sterile. And so whether that's between
- 16:02two women who have a sterile sexual act period, because it's
- 16:06not open to life, it can't bring life or people that are
- 16:09intentionally doing it. Now somebody might say play
- 16:11devil's advocate and say, well, what about a couple that has
- 16:13infertility? OK, now there's certain things
- 16:17that you can't. Are you still open to life?
- 16:20Did you make yourself infertile right now Some could say, well,
- 16:23I used to be on, you know, birth controls and things and now it's
- 16:26affecting my body. Well, if you're asking the Lord
- 16:29and you're doing what you can to.
- 16:31To heal to. Heal and for the Lord to heal
- 16:33you then it's in his hands right?
- 16:36But that's not God going out of his own natural order and
- 16:39design. 2 females in in history naturally have never had a baby
- 16:45to males. Natural born males have never
- 16:49had a baby without humans getting involved, right.
- 16:52And so we just have to, we've got to kind of trail back.
- 16:55But I will say this, this young woman, I love her so much, but
- 16:58she said thank you. I said what?
- 17:01She said, I've never met a Christian.
- 17:03I've never met a Christian that has stood ground across the
- 17:08board. She said usually they're really
- 17:10willing to stand homosexuality, but they won't touch it when it
- 17:14comes to their own stuff. And I was like, girl, I'm sorry
- 17:17but. Or, or I've seen among and
- 17:19someone, I would say kind of in the faith-based world, it's a
- 17:23kind of Protestant evangelical space.
- 17:24There is some I come, I mean, red pill is a strong word, but
- 17:28there's this sort of ideology about sex where anything goes in
- 17:32marriage. As long as you're married, you
- 17:34can do whatever you want. And then usually it's very much
- 17:37male centric in terms of woman, just please your husband, period
- 17:40and whatever you want, whatever he wants you do.
- 17:43And that's also not the Christian vision.
- 17:45That's not the natural order, even because.
- 17:47That's not the love of the church.
- 17:48That's not the love. Of the church because there's a
- 17:50design for chastity and chastity at its core is self gift and
- 17:55seeing the other person as a gift and being willing to lay
- 17:59down your life for that other person.
- 18:00And that that's including in sex like you want to be focused on
- 18:03the other person, not just your own pleasure.
- 18:05If it's all about you and your own pleasure, you're
- 18:07objectifying your own spouse. And unfortunately, I think that
- 18:10can infiltrate even Christian marriage, as if you're
- 18:12objectifying your own spouse instead of seeing them as a
- 18:15whole person that you want to love and serve and.
- 18:18And I think we're, we're hurting a big group of people or those
- 18:20who do struggle or embrace race, homosexuality, that we're
- 18:24talking all about the sins within their sexual struggles,
- 18:28but not within heterosexual struggles.
- 18:30And it, and it's just wrong. It's wrong in God's eyes, too.
- 18:33I mean, we look through Romans, He goes through a whole list of
- 18:36sexual sins, of drunkardness, of gossip, right?
- 18:39Like all these things. But yet we're like, oh, well,
- 18:41yeah, those are normalized. Well, guess what?
- 18:43The world's trying to normalize every other sin too.
- 18:46We're not we're not going from the standard of the world,
- 18:48right? We have to get back and, and one
- 18:50thing I did bring up with her, and it wasn't to win a point.
- 18:53It was to express God's heart. I said, what's sex for?
- 18:57What is the purpose of sex? We have to get back to that.
- 19:00What is it is to reproduce. It's to be fruitful and
- 19:03multiply. And because God is so good, He's
- 19:05like, and I'm going to make it pleasurable, right?
- 19:08And that's bonding for the people that are the parents of
- 19:11the new life, potentially. But it wasn't just for bonding,
- 19:14right? It wasn't just for bonding.
- 19:15There's, there's a both. And and so when we remove the
- 19:19openness to life, we've actually changed the equation that God
- 19:23put out for us. I mean, and you, you're talking
- 19:26about this all around every day. No, but I like to hear you
- 19:29talking about it. Yeah.
- 19:30But it but I mean no like. We're now.
- 19:32Seeing children as a consequence, yeah, no, that was
- 19:35the whole purpose. It was to be fruitful and
- 19:38multiply and connect. That's why the language of
- 19:41unexpected pregnancy, unplanned pregnancy, accidental only got
- 19:44pregnant like it it worked. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:47It's a beautiful and, and we imagine a society where when a
- 19:51child is conceived, there's celebration across the board,
- 19:54maybe some stress because it's, you know, multiple other kids
- 19:57and, you know, pregnancy cannot. It's not always easy, obviously.
- 20:00And this is a big responsibility and a sacred one.
- 20:03But we know that life is about the most meaningful things,
- 20:06which is relationship and love. And so we celebrate a new life
- 20:09instead of looking down on a new life.
- 20:11And look at how that would hit identity when you as a little
- 20:14one are celebrated from the womb, out of the womb.
- 20:18Growing up man, do you start to feel loved and seen and known
- 20:23even though life is hard, even though life had to change, you
- 20:27know. But like now, that little human
- 20:30is celebrated from the womb on. Their identity is even being
- 20:33affirmed even inside the womb. That's why you know, when we and
- 20:38I've had girls reach out to me over the years saying, oh, I'm
- 20:40pregnant, what do I do? What do you say?
- 20:42You know, DMS on Instagram or meeting girls and I always make
- 20:45sure the first thing is congratulations, even though I
- 20:49know if they're in a place of stress and fear.
- 20:51Because then the next thing is like, I know you're, you may be
- 20:53struggling right now. Like I want to help you and
- 20:55support you, but we never should lose sight of this is a gift.
- 20:59This is a gift and God has a plan for you.
- 21:02And for that little. And for that little.
- 21:04Only he brings life and and I think when we lose sight of
- 21:08that, we're going to lose sight of sexuality because right now
- 21:13if, if baby isn't the gift, then sex now what's sex, right?
- 21:19So it just starts to pull the thread of what God has has
- 21:22designed. And so I think I some people are
- 21:25like Kim, that doesn't that doesn't correlate.
- 21:27No, it does. It does because sex is not just
- 21:30for pleasure. Sex is not just for connecting.
- 21:34It is for procreation. When God brings it, your job is
- 21:37just to be open to it. So and marriage is also not just
- 21:41for pleasure and it's also not just for connecting, it's for a
- 21:44project of we're going to grow together and serve God and
- 21:47others and get to heaven and hopefully, if it's his will,
- 21:50bring other souls along with us. Yep.
- 21:53It's always about more than just me and my immediate feelings and
- 21:56my pleasure and my immediate desires.
- 21:58But our world is not so others focused, right, myself included,
- 22:03myself included. So I mean, but, but, so I think
- 22:05that's this is a big picture. This is what we're working on.
- 22:09OK, so thank you. That was beautifully shared and
- 22:11so boldly beloved. We're going to link it.
- 22:13Is there a website? So yeah, I'm.
- 22:16So excited about it. It's so needed.
- 22:18Your voice is so needed. Kim.
- 22:19I just. I love you and I love what
- 22:20you're doing. We're going to talk about a few

- 23:32So obviously there was the Olympics opening ceremony, so
- 23:36we're going to watch a little bit of a clip from there.
- 23:39Which I've never seen. You haven't seen.
- 23:41OK, there's time. Let me see if I can pull.
- 23:42This also featured in the Olympics performance and the
- 23:44meeting. So one thing I know there was a
- 23:53lot of pushback by people saying, and I even posted about
- 23:56this when this came out and I was like, you know, this is so
- 23:58this is so sad, quite frankly. And they were pushed back
- 24:01saying, well, it wasn't actually trying to depict the Last
- 24:03Supper. You're taking this too
- 24:04seriously. This is about like the Greek
- 24:06festival, Dionysus and like the, the, the, you know, the festival
- 24:09of wine and fertility and something.
- 24:11But then you go to the lead performers Instagram account,
- 24:14she's like, I was Jesus. And like, you know, they knew
- 24:16this was the Last Supper scene that they were mocking, like
- 24:19they knew the, the, the, the entertainers involved.
- 24:22And then actually the Olympic ceremony ended up doing some
- 24:25sort of a kind of a light lightweight apology about it.
- 24:28But very lightweight, yeah. What do you think?
- 24:30It breaks my heart, honestly, what I see when when I see that
- 24:35as I see a group of people that don't know the Lord, I know,
- 24:39because if you know, if you know and you've encountered Jesus,
- 24:43you wouldn't have sat at that table.
- 24:45And so to me, what what I see is I see hurting people.
- 24:48Now I'm not saying there's not agenda.
- 24:50Satan is at work, but he uses people.
- 24:53He uses people. And So what I see when I see
- 24:56that is people who don't really know Jesus, they might have gone
- 25:00to church here and there. They might have even been raised
- 25:03Christian. Maybe they weren't.
- 25:05But I believe when you have a real encounter with Jesus and
- 25:08you really meet him and you experience his love for you in a
- 25:12really tangible way, you wouldn't do things like that.
- 25:16And so honestly, I feel God putting it back even to me of
- 25:21Kim, will you make sure that you do a really good job, please, of
- 25:25representing me in this world? Because if we can do that as
- 25:29Christians and don't change his truth, because that's not a real
- 25:33representation, but if we can represent him well in this
- 25:35world, I think we're going to see a lot less of that.
- 25:37Evil's always going to exist, right?
- 25:40But that breaks my heart. These are, I mean, these are
- 25:42people's sons and daughters, you know?
- 25:45What do you do when people say, well, the way you're
- 25:48representing is hurting me because it's it's discrediting
- 25:51my identity because I think this is so tough, right?
- 25:53Because if someone says my identity is gay by whatever any
- 25:58number of of labels, right, And you say, well, that's not your
- 26:02true identity. You're so much more to your
- 26:04identity like that. And, and, and these these acts
- 26:07or this lifestyle is not going to bring you the peace and the
- 26:10joy that I want for you. But they see that as an
- 26:11existential threat of discounting who they are because
- 26:15they believe that that is who they are.
- 26:16Yeah, I mean that as well. Makes me sad because I'm like,
- 26:18they're so set in the sand that this or in the cement rather,
- 26:22that this is who they are, that you can't even offer something
- 26:25more right? And, and to be honest, OK, if
- 26:29you are upset with me, tune me out.
- 26:32If you're upset with me, walk away.
- 26:35I'm not going to chase you. I want to share the goodness of
- 26:38what I've what I've found, who I've found and how he's given me
- 26:41life and continues to and how he showed me I'm more than my
- 26:45sexuality. I'm more than my desires.
- 26:46I'm more than what I do. I want that for you.
- 26:49But the reality is Jesus, when he walked the earth, he didn't
- 26:52force people. He never forced anyone and evil
- 26:55still existed and he continued to give his life.
- 26:59He let people spit at him, mock him, right beat him and he's the
- 27:03he died for them. And so I'm like, OK, Lord, help
- 27:07me please. If if some I had a woman once
- 27:11she just was kind of trying to RIP me a new one.
- 27:13And I said you are choosing to talk to me.
- 27:17She was upset about your ministry.
- 27:19Just me? Yeah, Just as a human.
- 27:20Being. She had.
- 27:21She must have heard a clip or something out there.
- 27:24I don't think she listened to a whole interview.
- 27:25Meaning she didn't agree with your your position of I used to
- 27:30live the lesbian lifestyle now not like she she that offended
- 27:32her. It offended her.
- 27:34She thought I was hateful and I said listen, you have every
- 27:37right to hate me. Just get to know me first, then
- 27:40hate me, but you don't know me. Like, let's get coffee.
- 27:43Let's like. For real.
- 27:44Like, let's just talk. And and did she do it?
- 27:47She was open. How do you do that with a
- 27:49stranger in your DMS on Instagram?
- 27:51Well, that's a little different. I think you, you what?
- 27:53We have to use discernment too. Of course, you can kind of tell
- 27:55when someone's just attacking. Oh, look, I had a Satanist reach
- 27:58out to me and just, I mean, this e-mail, I've never gotten
- 28:01something like it. I won't get into all the detail,
- 28:03but I prayed, I said, Lord, what do you want to say?
- 28:05And he just showed me the brokenness of this, of this
- 28:07young woman. And I just wrote back, I'm so
- 28:10sorry that you've been so hurt. And she wrote me.
- 28:13We went back and forth. She ended up, Long story short,
- 28:16she ended up knitting me a beanie.
- 28:18She found my nonprofit's address.
- 28:20She actually came back into the Catholic Church.
- 28:23I got her set up with an exorcist.
- 28:25Yeah, it's amazing. Like, but that's not but.
- 28:28But see, I could have been like. Have you shared that story
- 28:30before I. She actually just messaged me
- 28:34the other day. She's like, Kim, I really missed
- 28:36you. I'm like, Oh my gosh, I wish I
- 28:37could go back. And I say.
- 28:38Pause for one second, because that's just such an encouraging
- 28:41story and I love, I love it. So she.
- 28:44Was desecrating the Eucharist she would go into church, take
- 28:47the Eucharist and go do these demonic things at her house and.
- 28:50Yeah, and she wrote you the e-mail.
- 28:52She struggled with same sex attraction.
- 28:53When she wrote you the e-mail, she was She was mad at you in
- 28:56the first e-mail. Yeah, she hated me and she hated
- 28:59anything to do with anything that I was saying.
- 29:02But she took the time to e-mail you, and you saw that as an open
- 29:05door. So that was my thing.
- 29:07I'm like, you know what? There's probably tons of people
- 29:09that hate me, but they don't reach out.
- 29:11I love when someone hates thinks they hate me and they at least
- 29:15reach out because at least they're saying I hate you and
- 29:18I'm at least going to tell you. So now you're communicating to
- 29:21some degree. My next thing is, Hey, can can
- 29:24you get to know me and can I get to know you too?
- 29:26This isn't just a one way St. like we we have to be just as
- 29:29much as I'm going to talk, I have to be able to listen to
- 29:33that doesn't mean I have to agree.
- 29:34That doesn't mean I have to take on your, you know, ideologies or
- 29:38your morals, but can I listen? I have to ask when?
- 29:42When this satanist, now an ex satanist thanks be to God, was
- 29:46emailing Catholic? No.
- 29:48Did she want to come on the show?
- 29:50I could ask. Ask her.
- 29:52You say I already gave you your debut.
- 29:53I talked about you. You've been highlighted.
- 29:55Yeah, totally. So did when you were emailing
- 29:57with her. I mean, you loved her, you you
- 30:01prayed for her, you try to see her the way God sees her, and
- 30:04I'm sure that influenced your communication with her.
- 30:07But yeah, Kim, in my own flesh, without, I was like, Lord, give
- 30:10me your heart for this woman. You have to.
- 30:13Maybe it's sort of like a capacity question.
- 30:15How much time did you spend communicating with her?
- 30:18Love your neighbor. It's a command that's been given
- 30:20to us and for hundreds of years, loving your neighbor through
- 30:24healthcare was an important part of living out your faith.
- 30:27In fact, healthcare in general was done by neighbors coming
- 30:31together to support each other and ensure that each other's
- 30:34needs are met. This is one of the reasons that
- 30:36I love Crowd Health. Instead of relying on an
- 30:39insurance company who may or may not pay for the bill, Crowd
- 30:42Health allows you to crowdfund so that your neighbors that you
- 30:45are in a community with can help fund those bills.
- 30:48What's amazing is that Crowd Health has funded over 5000
- 30:52medical bills in just the last two years.
- 30:54Crowd Health is your solution to the insurance companies and the
- 30:58big pharma companies that have created so much dissatisfaction
- 31:02in the healthcare world. The Crowd Health service team is
- 31:05there for you to help you with your medical bills.
- 31:07Help negotiate the best deal with the service provider and
- 31:10then help you crowdfund through the community to ensure that
- 31:13your bills get covered. Take for example, a young woman
- 31:16in Tennessee who is 19 years old and who lost her fingers in a
- 31:20tragic boating accident. Crowd Health got the medical
- 31:22bills, negotiated them, and then went to the funding community.
- 31:25Her bills were completely covered by the Crowd Health
- 31:28funding community. Whether it's accidents like this
- 31:31one, everything from babies and NICU to brain tumors, the Crowd
- 31:35Health community is designed to support your neighbor when they
- 31:38are in need. What's so powerful about this
- 31:40Healthcare is that it's done voluntarily through the
- 31:43principle of loving one's neighbor by all of the people
- 31:46who are bought into the system. Keep in mind, Crowd Health is
- 31:49not insurance. It's a system to better love
- 31:52your neighbor and experience a community in
- 31:54helpingyouwithyourhealthcare.learnmore@joincrowdhealth.com. That's join Crowd health.com.
- 32:00And if you Sign up today using the code Live Lila, you'll get
- 32:02your first three months for only $99.
- 32:04Join Crowd health.com Use the code Lila to get your first
- 32:08three months for only $99. How much time did you spend
- 32:12communicating with her? I tried to balance.
- 32:14I also set boundaries, but you have to remember I'm kind of a
- 32:17free agent for the Lord. I'm not married, I don't have
- 32:19children. I have a ministry in Ethiopia,
- 32:21but praise God, I have a team that runs that.
- 32:23And so my time I don't see as my own.
- 32:26So if the Lord wakes me up at 3:00 in the morning, and he did,
- 32:30I woke up, he woke me up at 3:00 AM, He said check your e-mail.
- 32:33And I checked it and it had just come in.
- 32:35Yeah. And this has happened more than
- 32:36once, so. So she had just emailed you at
- 32:393:00 AM. God told you to wake up.
- 32:41You woke up. You got this e-mail from the
- 32:42next Satanist. She's full of hatred.
- 32:44You wrote her back. I'm sorry you've been so hurt.
- 32:45At what point was there a turn? It was probably 4 emails back
- 32:50and forth in the course of 30-40 minutes because it was, it was
- 32:53more like, oh. You were emailing back.
- 32:54Back where? She just had sent it but.
- 32:56You guys sent multiple emails in within a 30 minute time for
- 32:59thread. So you're emailing at night and
- 33:01she's like middle of the morning and she's like starting her
- 33:03conversion at night. Like well, when did she start to
- 33:05turn? Like when?
- 33:06Oh, it took. It took some time.
- 33:08I walked with her, I walked with her.
- 33:10I felt like the Lord and I had to really ask like Lord, is this
- 33:12do I kind of and I involved another person asked if she
- 33:15could walk a little more closely with her.
- 33:17Did you have to go through exorcism?
- 33:19Got her with an exorcist priest. She went through some
- 33:22counseling. She's just been incredibly hurt.
- 33:25I mean, when I started to hear, once the walls came down and she
- 33:28started to share her story, it broke my heart.
- 33:31I'm like, I probably would have been a Satanist too.
- 33:33Like, see, sometimes it's it's so easy.
- 33:36It is so easy to judge someone's actions and and we're supposed
- 33:40to judge action, but what we're not supposed to do is judge the
- 33:44action and in the same time judge that person.
- 33:46There's a difference between what a person is doing and who
- 33:50they are, who they are. God created what they're doing.
- 33:53God probably didn't bless right? But there is a difference.
- 33:56And so I was able to see this is wrong, but that doesn't mean she
- 33:59is. And what God showed me is a lot
- 34:02of times bad fruit comes because there's a really rottener or
- 34:07hurt broken root, right? And and as she began to share
- 34:12her life over the course of maybe two months, she started to
- 34:15open up of what she's been through.
- 34:17I was like, Oh my gosh. And my dad actually used to say
- 34:20this when I was growing up. I was like, Dad, you would
- 34:22never, you know, kill someone. Dad, you would never do this.
- 34:24He's like, Kim, never say never. And I said, what do you mean?
- 34:28Dad? I know you wouldn't kill anyone.
- 34:29He's like, I don't know what I would do in extreme situations,
- 34:33Kim And so I never really understood that, but I feel like
- 34:36the Lord's starting to unpack that for me.
- 34:37Like, it doesn't justify what someone always does, right?
- 34:41It doesn't at all. It doesn't give someone the
- 34:43right, but man, does it open up a place of compassion.
- 34:46I mean, the way she was treated, what she went through as a
- 34:48child, all in the name of God. Yeah, I think you're going to
- 34:53turn to another God. And when she was emailing you,
- 34:57the reason you caught her eye was because of the same sex
- 34:59attraction thing that she was struggling with, and she's
- 35:01particularly hated your position on that it sounds like.
- 35:03She hated my position on it. She hated that she, I mean,
- 35:07there was so much hatred, but it was actually a lot of hatred
- 35:10towards herself. See, sometimes when someone
- 35:13hates me, they just see a little bit of themselves that they
- 35:16don't like, and they put it on me and I just realized, by God's
- 35:20grace, OK, yeah, they might just hate me.
- 35:22And I'm like, that's OK. Like you're allowed to hate me.
- 35:25I just don't want you to hate Jesus.
- 35:26Meaning they see themselves in you, but you're free and you
- 35:29they have you have something they don't have, but they.
- 35:32They don't know maybe how to get it sometimes.
- 35:34And they think you're trying to take it from them.
- 35:36Yeah. It's almost like a little kid,
- 35:38you know, I, I explained this and I'll, I'll be brief with it.
- 35:41I was trying to RIP. I have a, a small Wiener dog.
- 35:44The name's Scooter and he loves paper products he ate.
- 35:48He loves when a wet paper towel falls on the ground and he gets
- 35:52it in his little mouth, which is tiny.
- 35:54He's 10 lbs. And he takes his balled up wet
- 35:56paper towel and he tries to swallow it and I don't know why,
- 36:00but he does. And I was trying to RIP it out
- 36:03of his mouth because he's going to die if he tries to pass this
- 36:07thing. So I'm trying to RIP it out.
- 36:08He's biting at me. He turned into a little baby
- 36:11lion. Like this thing.
- 36:12He was biting me. He was vicious.
- 36:15And I'm like, Scooter, you, this is not you.
- 36:17And also I'm like, what do I do? I mean, I just let him swallow
- 36:20it and die like, you know, sorry PETA, but like, I don't know
- 36:22what to do here. And right way I was like, God,
- 36:25what do I do? The Lord's like give him
- 36:27something better. I was like, Scooter jerky loves
- 36:30beef jerky. And so I was like, and he like
- 36:33tweaked his head and looked at me and the Lord's like, get the
- 36:37jerky, give him the jerky. And I was like, Oh my gosh, yes.
- 36:39So I ran in the kitchen, grabbed jerky, threw it on the ground.
- 36:41Guess what he did? Puked up that paper towel and he
- 36:45ate the jerky. And then he just looked at me
- 36:47and he wanted more jerky. It's a weird analogy, but it
- 36:50really happened. And God showed me we sometimes
- 36:55try to RIP things from people's mouths from their lives, like
- 36:59give me your sex, right? Give me your whatever.
- 37:01Give me this, you know, and I'm going to give you something
- 37:04better instead of just saying like, Hey, here's something
- 37:07better. And I'm not just going to tell
- 37:08you about this something. I'm going to actually carry this
- 37:11something in front of you. And it needs to become
- 37:14experiential. When people start experiencing
- 37:17Jesus, experiencing hear about him and then experience him,
- 37:21it's pretty amazing what will stop start to drop out of our
- 37:24mouths and out of our life. And I think that that approach
- 37:28in my life is how God's worked with me is he's given himself to
- 37:32me and I've started to experience him.
- 37:34And I'm, I'm watching, I'm not dating women anymore, not
- 37:37because I'm afraid of hell. Hell's real.
- 37:40It's absolutely real. And, and I don't believe God
- 37:42sends us to hell. I believe we either choose him
- 37:44here on earth or we don't. And if we're not going to choose
- 37:46him here on earth, why do we want to be with him for
- 37:48eternity? If he's not good enough for now,
- 37:51why is he good enough for eternity?
- 37:53And so we actually just reject him, right?
- 37:55And so we reject heaven, we reject Jesus and we reject all
- 37:58that he has for us. And so in that, but when
- 38:00somebody experiences them now, it's amazing what we'll start to
- 38:05lay down. I am not dating women because
- 38:07I'm, I've tasted and seen a better love, a deeper love, the
- 38:12love that my own little soul actually has been longing for
- 38:15since since I was born. And so I think sometimes people
- 38:19are upset because you're trying to take the only love.
- 38:22They know this is the love they have.
- 38:25This is what they're holding onto.
- 38:27And, and so the approach that I try to take is I'm not trying to
- 38:30take anything from you. Can you try this?
- 38:34Can you, can you try? Can you experience this?
- 38:37And some may reject and that's OK.
- 38:39I'm not going to jam it in their mouth.
- 38:41And then there's some that say, OK, I'm willing.
- 38:44That young woman was someone who was willing to give Jesus a try
- 38:49again, to give him a try again, because the way she was raised
- 38:53was not truly him. It's so, it's so beautiful, Kim.
- 38:59I mean, it makes me think of this guy that I was talking to a
- 39:01few years ago in Los Angeles and he was involved.
- 39:04He was in entertainment and he was involved in, he had moved to
- 39:07LA for the gay community basically, or LGBTQ.
- 39:10I think he considered himself queer.
- 39:12But I remember him talking about how he had found people that he
- 39:15could just be with and before he was no one he could just be
- 39:19with. And he spoke with such
- 39:21tenderness about people that he could just be himself with and
- 39:24have fun with and get to be into makeup and entertainment, all
- 39:27the things he was into. And, you know, obviously we were
- 39:30talking about faith and sexuality, but I wanted to, you
- 39:35know, what community could I give him?
- 39:36Right? You know, like I couldn't in
- 39:38that moment, give him community. I could just talk to him.
- 39:40But I mean that that could be a little tiny piece of it.
- 39:43But you know, he, he needed a family, he needed love, he
- 39:45needed support system. So I think, you know, the, the
- 39:48power in a, in a way of the LGBTQ plus a you know, I
- 39:52whatever identity ideology, everything is that it does
- 39:55involve a community. And and they, they, they had
- 39:59said this is your label and you belong.
- 40:01You have a seat at the table. And that's why it's so stinking
- 40:06attributive to so many people. Literally seat at the table.
- 40:09Look at that full circle. Where is the church today?
- 40:14Where does the church have a seat at the table for these
- 40:16people who struggle with whatever?
- 40:18Well, I think. That means celebrate the
- 40:20lifestyle. That's where Pope Francis, I
- 40:21think, has been so controversial, but he's trying
- 40:24to do that. And again, I, you know, I, I'm
- 40:27sure there's tons of opinions in the comments section.
- 40:29You guys already, you know, we ought to, I mean, as a Catholic,
- 40:32I respect the Holy Father, pray for him every single day.
- 40:34It's our job. He's our father.
- 40:35He's not perfect and he no one's perfect, but he has not changed
- 40:38the faith or morals of our, you know, the the teaching of our.
- 40:41Church and in the recent. Document but I think some of the
- 40:43things that he's done is trying, trying to create spaces.
- 40:46And I'm not saying for it's for better or for worse.
- 40:49I think there's, you know, you could argue maybe the jury's out
- 40:51on his particular approach because he wants to he knows
- 40:55that this is one of the prevailing ideologies today that
- 40:58is seizing the a generation of people who think this is how
- 41:01they belong. This is how they identify.
- 41:02This is how they exist. So here's the sad part.
- 41:06When you enter the LGBT community, you are welcome, you
- 41:08belong. All of that.
- 41:10You no longer agree and you're out.
- 41:13See the church. You're bigot actually, and you
- 41:16threaten their very existence by denying the ideology.
- 41:19So it's very vicious when you when you're out.
- 41:21And we sometimes as a church can look like that too.
- 41:24I think we can learn a lot. Now, again, there's there's the
- 41:28difference. We can learn about wow, all are
- 41:30welcome and all are supposed to be welcome at church.
- 41:33Does that mean we welcome everything the human being does?
- 41:36No, not in you, not in me, and not in them, Right.
- 41:39And we're supposed to love each other into wholeness.
- 41:41We're supposed to lovingly correct each other and draw each
- 41:44other higher. But where are we maybe not doing
- 41:46that? One of the movies that I feel
- 41:48depicts this so well, and I, I don't think we talked about it
- 41:51last time, was Jesus Revolution. In that movie.
- 41:54It was a group of people that I believe today is kind of the
- 41:57modern. Day actor of that film.
- 41:59Jonathan Rumi, I think it was, yes.
- 42:01So he did. He did pretty good in that film,
- 42:03right? I mean, I haven't seen it yet,
- 42:04but I've heard phenomenal. Yeah, OK.
- 42:05Yes, he did a great job and I knew about Lonnie Frisbee, the
- 42:08character he played before this movie came out.
- 42:10And so he nailed it. Good job, Jonathan.
- 42:12So in that the but this group of people were outcast.
- 42:18They were the hippies. They were like, you know, and
- 42:20then Lonnie Frisbee had an encounter with Jesus and then he
- 42:23started to seek after Jesus and then all his hippie friends
- 42:27wanted to come. Guess what church wasn't so
- 42:29welcoming. They smelt they weren't wearing
- 42:32shoes. They some of them were still
- 42:33coming off their high. It's a phenomenal movie.
- 42:37I think we need to watch it because I think it is.
- 42:39Honestly, I think it's a little bit of God's grace to say, Hey,
- 42:43watch this because there's another group of people that
- 42:46don't feel like they fit in, that are lost, that are broken,
- 42:48that are seeking. And is the church open?
- 42:51And then how do we, how do we walk with each other in our
- 42:54brokenness to Christ and with Christ?
- 42:56And I do believe the LGBT, LGBT community right now is kind of
- 43:01the modern day hippies that is looking for home.
- 43:04They're looking for home. And we know that there was one
- 43:06home and it is an eternal 1. And God wants them.
- 43:10God wants them. And, and when they experience,
- 43:13when people experience the goodness of God, we let go of
- 43:16the less than good, and we let go of the less than loves
- 43:19because we found something greater.
- 43:22It's so beautiful, Kim. It's very I I want to keep
- 43:25talking, but I think we need to let her go, right?
- 43:27Because it's we were going to watch the that we're going to
- 43:29have to come back on the show. Kim, it's 337.
- 43:32Yeah, we got to do this again, Kim, because we only got through
- 43:36one news story. We're going to.
- 43:39We're going. To do it again, I know you're in
- 43:40Dallas, but you know. I love California.
- 43:43I get to. Come back and we'll do this
- 43:45again and again, but thank you, thanks for being open and thanks
- 43:48for listening so intently for God's voice.
- 43:51One last thing, what's what's your best advice for people to
- 43:54be able to hear God's voice the way that you hear his voice?
- 43:57Let him love you. Don't.
- 43:58Don't try to. I just said this to a sister
- 44:02yesterday. I said God speaks a lot.
- 44:05Don't try to complete his sentences.
- 44:08He speaks a lot. But see, I think sometimes we
- 44:10try to figure out what he's trying to say.
- 44:13Just let him keep speaking because what it's doing is it's
- 44:15actually growing your trust. It's growing your relationship
- 44:18with him. Like, I have these new feelings
- 44:20in my heart starting to to form that I never had before towards
- 44:24men. And I'm like, Oh my gosh, now he
- 44:26wants me married guys, like, hold on, I'm not done talking.
- 44:28Do you trust me? I'm like, yeah, yeah, you speak.
- 44:32And so just like trust that he wants to talk to you.
- 44:34He loves you, he sees you, he knows you, He created you.
- 44:38Like he wants to commune with you.
- 44:39And, and, and if it doesn't line up with his word, you kind of
- 44:43have to know his word so that you know, like, oh, well, that
- 44:46really was him. Doesn't mean he's speaking you
- 44:48like just in Psalms, right? But when, when I hear from the
- 44:51Lord and I also know his word, I'm like, well, that didn't
- 44:54really align with his word. So that must not be him, you
- 44:57know. So we we do have to know his
- 44:59word because then when he's speaking kind of freelance, it's
- 45:02going to be in line because he's an unchanging God.
- 45:05And so, yeah, but he wants to speak.
- 45:07Thank you friend. Yeah, you're the best.
- 45:10Love you too. A huge thank you to our partner.
