- 2:55Speaker 1: love and discovery. And she tells us about her battles
- 2:58Speaker 1: with body image that are in adolescents and charac throughout
- 3:01Speaker 1: her music career. Well, she is now a fitness competitor,
- 3:05Speaker 1: talk show co host and he has and she has
- 3:07Speaker 1: a new single, Well You're gonna We're gonna talk about
- 3:09Speaker 1: the very top of this interview called woman. Please welcome
- 3:13Speaker 1: back to Money Making Conversation. My girl, Selena Johnson. I'm
- 3:20Speaker 1: doing fantastic and thank you for taking the time to
- 3:22Speaker 1: come on the show to provide new content for people
- 3:25Speaker 1: who are stuck at home or just listening, and just
- 3:28Speaker 1: really providing inspiration because you are an inspiration, Selena. Now
- 3:33Speaker 1: just talk about the video. Just how prepared for my shows, Lena,
- 3:37Speaker 1: I always like within the twenty four hour period to
- 3:40Speaker 1: the interview, always started gathering all my information, so everything
- 3:43Speaker 1: is really fresh. So the music video Woman, which I've
- 3:47Speaker 1: seen three times now because the lyrics, I kept hearing
- 3:50Speaker 1: the lyrics about what a woman would do and what
- 3:52Speaker 1: a man gets away with, you know, a woman giving
- 3:55Speaker 1: a good advice and a man a lot. You know
- 4:01Speaker 1: so so I said, so so being a man that
- 4:03Speaker 1: was raised by a woman with six sis. Just my
- 4:06Speaker 1: father stayed in my life, but I had six sisters
- 4:08Speaker 1: who are impacted my life. The importance of I'm looking
- 4:11Speaker 1: at this video. You start out the front top of
- 4:13Speaker 1: the video with just with this black outfit on and
- 4:17Speaker 1: then you're walking down it's kind of gangster style, but
- 4:20Speaker 1: it's but it's motivated because it's empowering. Talk about the
- 4:24Speaker 1: the idea of this this video, the concept, because it's
- 4:27Speaker 1: definitely a wash. First of all, it's it's two things.
- 4:30Speaker 1: It's a much watch video and it's a much listening
- 4:33Speaker 1: to video because the lyrics tell an amazing story about
- 4:38Speaker 1: overcoming the art. But the video is pro today. Tell
- 4:43Speaker 1: us about Selenda Jospha. Well, the video was next to look. Um,
- 4:50Speaker 1: everything is very symbolic. It's not it's not nettle. So
- 4:55Speaker 1: like when you think of the lyrics, uh tale lines
- 4:58Speaker 1: like a man not necessarily, Um, men all men lives,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know, because they don't from what but what it does,
- 5:07Speaker 1: what it is significant to is our nation and how
- 5:11Speaker 1: we have a president that live, you know, and how
- 5:14Speaker 1: there are so many male leader, male leading politicians and
- 5:19Speaker 1: men in legislation, you know, because because men actually kind
- 5:23Speaker 1: of run the world. You know what I'm saying, they're
- 5:25Speaker 1: they're the most empowered. They get paid the most for
- 5:28Speaker 1: the same jobs that women do, and they lie, you
- 5:32Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, They lie to keep those positions.
- 5:34Speaker 1: A lot of times men have their lives to stay
- 5:36Speaker 1: in power, you know, I mean, so he lives like
- 5:40Speaker 1: a man is anonymous to that concept, um, because uh
- 5:45Speaker 1: sacrifice like a woman. We always sacrifice, were always sacrificing
- 5:49Speaker 1: our things and going because of children. You know, that's
- 5:52Speaker 1: that's the running story, you know what I'm saying. And
- 5:55Speaker 1: so the militant um look is comes from the Black
- 6:00Speaker 1: Panthers because in the Black Panther movement, um, they were
- 6:04Speaker 1: trying to find their strength in their their colors, you know,
- 6:11Speaker 1: which is we're not really literally the color black, but
- 6:13Speaker 1: that's the name of our races, you know, that was
- 6:15Speaker 1: the name of our race black. She's like white people
- 6:17Speaker 1: are not literally white, but we were given the name
- 6:21Speaker 1: of black because of course that that if you think
- 6:24Speaker 1: of the what's traditionary terms in the voids um of
- 6:28Speaker 1: no color of no, well, we're the total opposite of that.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Actually it's confidentary because these can Alina called us code.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That's actually weird because it was the Black sensers era,
- 6:42Speaker 1: was them taking charge of that name and making it
- 6:46Speaker 1: something strong, you know, so uh taking it you know.
- 6:51Speaker 1: So for the woman we took a hold of the
- 6:55Speaker 1: look of that was to take a hold of what
- 6:58Speaker 1: we're being, um stereotyped as and trying to and and
- 7:04Speaker 1: um coming together, you know, women coming together organizing to
- 7:10Speaker 1: make I'll tell you something, Ms Johnson, Um, I was
- 7:16Speaker 1: not offended by the lyrics, just being honest, because I'm
- 7:19Speaker 1: a man, and I know how I have to. I
- 7:22Speaker 1: have to bluff my way through deals. I've had to
- 7:24Speaker 1: be a person that some people thought I was that
- 7:26Speaker 1: I knew I wasn't, but that didn't tell me I
- 7:29Speaker 1: should stop for seeing the opportunity. What you're talking about
- 7:32Speaker 1: is dad Sometimes, you know, I want to just come
- 7:36Speaker 1: out right. Sometimes women have a higher standard than men
- 7:39Speaker 1: in business and they shouldn't because of the fact that
- 7:43Speaker 1: men will do what it takes to close the deal.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And that is there, that's a clear understanding. You know,
- 7:51Speaker 1: that's where the term poker face came from. Being able
- 7:54Speaker 1: to look at somebody. Men they're encouraged to do that,
- 8:00Speaker 1: very encouraged to do so. So women are normally penalized
- 8:04Speaker 1: for being strong. Then we're called or or or what
- 8:07Speaker 1: is what is views as strengths you know with fan lines,
- 8:11Speaker 1: or when a man closes the deal or you know,
- 8:13Speaker 1: just like the story of Madam C. J. Walker, she
- 8:16Speaker 1: had to go through sacrificing her manage. Her husband just
- 8:20Speaker 1: completely just lost control and just kind of went the
- 8:23Speaker 1: whole of the directions simply because she was so determined
- 8:26Speaker 1: and so focused and so strong. Instead of being her
- 8:30Speaker 1: help me, like the Bible says, you know, and because
- 8:34Speaker 1: women are viewed, especially during that time, they had guessed
- 8:36Speaker 1: that they had just been allowed to vote, so to
- 8:40Speaker 1: tom being a predicament where where a woman is is
- 8:45Speaker 1: constantly focused and driven and trying to accomplish a goal.
- 8:48Speaker 1: That's uncomfortable for men, especially if especially if they they're
- 8:54Speaker 1: also trying to get to that same thing and they're
- 8:56Speaker 1: not getting there quick enough. So that's why I love
- 8:59Speaker 1: the story of Madame c. Walker because even when she
- 9:01Speaker 1: got on that stage and um crossed over the booker
- 9:04Speaker 1: T Washington and he took her in the back, he said,
- 9:07Speaker 1: men need to do it first. And unfortunately, that is
- 9:11Speaker 1: a real mentality that still is in aside today, which
- 9:14Speaker 1: is why a lot of women, why it's so hard
- 9:16Speaker 1: for women to get ahead, which is why we don't
- 9:18Speaker 1: get paid as much as men. You know, there's no
- 9:21Speaker 1: reason why we should not be all, you know, paid
- 9:23Speaker 1: the same for the same work. There's no reason for it,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and there's no excuse for it. But it's still good.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It's still happening today. It really is. And I, like
- 9:32Speaker 1: I said, that's why I wanted to start the interview
- 9:34Speaker 1: with the music video woman that I'm talking to a
- 9:38Speaker 1: Grammy nominated artists, UH talk show co host Selida Johnson
- 9:42Speaker 1: straight out of Chicago that it was another lyric that
- 9:45Speaker 1: really was piqued my interrows. Got to think like a woman,
- 9:48Speaker 1: take advantage like a man. And that's what we're talking about.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You we started out what they gotta think like a woman,
- 9:54Speaker 1: but a lot like a man that came across that
- 9:56Speaker 1: may come across like men just live like we're just
- 9:59Speaker 1: trying to put men down. We're just talking about business.
- 10:02Speaker 1: We're talking about how do you negotiate, how you how
- 10:04Speaker 1: you maneuver or navigate the relationship. A lot of people
- 10:07Speaker 1: call that negotiations. Okay, we'll see I say things like
- 10:12Speaker 1: a woman because you know, there's a book and no
- 10:15Speaker 1: shade to see body. But I don't agree with the
- 10:18Speaker 1: title of his book. Thinks like a man, act like
- 10:20Speaker 1: a lady. That's the very myth that that that is
- 10:24Speaker 1: the very concept that perpetuates um this entire mentality. Now
- 10:31Speaker 1: I understand where he's coming, but it's still propelled that
- 10:36Speaker 1: title perpetuates what is acting like exactly. Somebody gives me
- 10:42Speaker 1: the actual, uh, the actual directions of acting like. Okay,
- 10:48Speaker 1: so that already is a focus, think like a woman
- 10:52Speaker 1: in most times in households, in most times, and I
- 10:56Speaker 1: won't say all, the woman is the one doing the
- 10:58Speaker 1: most thinking. Right, All the man has to do is
- 11:01Speaker 1: go out, get a get a job, bring the money back,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and the woman get eat it up. She's inside figuring
- 11:09Speaker 1: out all the little things. How to run this house whole,
- 11:12Speaker 1: what kind of what kind of food the kids should
- 11:15Speaker 1: go to, what are their meals, what's gonna what is
- 11:17Speaker 1: everybody going to eat? Not only that the inside of
- 11:20Speaker 1: the house, the outside of the house. Honey, don't forget
- 11:23Speaker 1: to call the guard and don't forget to do this.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yet she's the one doing all the things. She's the
- 11:27Speaker 1: one telling him how to navigate on every other thing. Now,
- 11:30Speaker 1: of course, when he gets into business, he has to
- 11:33Speaker 1: be very independent, and as far as that's concerned, when
- 11:35Speaker 1: he gets into his job life, but as far as
- 11:38Speaker 1: everything else, he has to come home and have a discussion.
- 11:40Speaker 1: What's all about which job to have? He has to
- 11:43Speaker 1: come home like when you're married. It's a whole thing,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and the woman does a lot of the things that
- 11:48Speaker 1: also when a woman says he also think with the
- 11:51Speaker 1: piece of emotion that men should because their emotion is
- 11:54Speaker 1: in business. Get it twisted. Emotion is in business. It's
- 11:58Speaker 1: just how that emotion is allocated and distribute. You can't
- 12:02Speaker 1: be overly emotional, but there has to be some type
- 12:05Speaker 1: of passion and connection because the things that you're that
- 12:07Speaker 1: you're trying to sail by, or the span when it
- 12:11Speaker 1: comes to business, it just it's it's just the way.
- 12:13Speaker 1: It's just the way it is. Emotional is not all
- 12:16Speaker 1: ac crying in a meeting. That's not what the emotional
- 12:18Speaker 1: is about. But she's it's let's say you're you're you're
- 12:22Speaker 1: a cult representative, but and you really like the way
- 12:25Speaker 1: the way that Cope takes. Not just um, you're just
- 12:30Speaker 1: selling a product, surely emotionally attached to the way that
- 12:33Speaker 1: it takes or the way that it makes you feel.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So now you're able to tell it even better because
- 12:39Speaker 1: now there's an emotional attassion attachment, there's an emotional attachment,
- 12:44Speaker 1: there's a passion that is behind it that allows you
- 12:46Speaker 1: to keep driving. Just like Madam C. J. Walker again,
- 12:49Speaker 1: I like to go to her story. She really was
- 12:51Speaker 1: a father, she was she really was a clone of
- 12:54Speaker 1: her own Frother. She's like, this stuff work so She's
- 12:57Speaker 1: able to really push this father because of the emotional
- 13:00Speaker 1: cat and the passiveness you have behind it. So, um,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I feel like a woman when keeps in business. And
- 13:07Speaker 1: nowadays we're learning more on how to balance our emotion
- 13:11Speaker 1: and our business mindset. Some of us are more emotional,
- 13:14Speaker 1: which makes it less productive. But they have men out
- 13:16Speaker 1: there that are emotional and don't get criticized for that criticized,
- 13:22Speaker 1: which is really key. And we will will yet. And
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm talking to Selenda Johnson. A new album empowers and
- 13:28Speaker 1: calls all women to stand up for themselves and to
- 13:31Speaker 1: be bold, brave, and fearless. You know, when I say
- 13:34Speaker 1: those things, let's let's dig a little deeper in that
- 13:37Speaker 1: comment being bold, because you know, when women are perceived
- 13:41Speaker 1: to aggressive, to be word of pop out, okay, and
- 13:45Speaker 1: that's that's a negative which WHI diminishes their intelligence, which
- 13:50Speaker 1: do man can diminish their ability to negotiate, which can
- 13:54Speaker 1: diminish their ability ability to lead. Because the perception that
- 13:58Speaker 1: women should be in their place, women should do certain things,
- 14:02Speaker 1: women shouldn't fight in the military, women should lead corporations.
- 14:06Speaker 1: You know, we talked about in eighteen six and four
- 14:08Speaker 1: when Martin Luther King delivered that I have a dream speech.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But remember this, that's not that far away. And women
- 14:16Speaker 1: are just not fighting for their rights to be able
- 14:19Speaker 1: to speak and be recognized, and it's still a big
- 14:21Speaker 1: deal when they lead a major corporation, like, Okay, you
- 14:25Speaker 1: know the thing about me that bothers me is that?
- 14:30Speaker 1: Why is it that we think I'm talking about in
- 14:33Speaker 1: society in general, women are physically adored but mentally challenged. Yep,
- 14:43Speaker 1: And that's we And let's go back to the sixties
- 14:51Speaker 1: in nineteen three. But equal pay a path, So why
- 14:57Speaker 1: we're still not getting the same equal path? Right? So
- 15:01Speaker 1: that's an issue. More and more women are having to
- 15:04Speaker 1: be in more moms, more and more women are having
- 15:07Speaker 1: to lead corporations, More and more women are becoming honestute
- 15:09Speaker 1: more because of the lack of fathers. And not by
- 15:13Speaker 1: fourth I mean not by not by um, they're not
- 15:16Speaker 1: being fathers. Not all men are not lacking father father
- 15:21Speaker 1: their father duties because of their personality. A lot of
- 15:25Speaker 1: our men are being taken by the system. A lot
- 15:27Speaker 1: of our men are you know, um uh, there's other
- 15:32Speaker 1: things that are takes that are that are taking them
- 15:34Speaker 1: away from their household from the household and creating family.
- 15:38Speaker 1: So a lot of women are single moms, okay, and
- 15:41Speaker 1: so now they are less too be mom and dead.
- 15:46Speaker 1: So if that's the case, imagine she goes on to
- 15:49Speaker 1: the workplace to do a job that a man is
- 15:51Speaker 1: supposed to be, you know, if you want to be
- 15:53Speaker 1: you know, theoretically quote unquote a man is supposed to
- 15:56Speaker 1: do theoretically, because I don't believe in that anymore, either
- 16:00Speaker 1: that the man has to go out and men can
- 16:05Speaker 1: men can be the homemakers as well. I know men
- 16:09Speaker 1: who are excellent fathers who hold it down and that
- 16:13Speaker 1: is a job within itself. And let me tell you
- 16:15Speaker 1: a job that is at times harder than going out
- 16:18Speaker 1: and working the morning to five about I'm talking to
- 16:20Speaker 1: Selena Johnson. Tenth album Woman is available digital. Where when

- 18:58Speaker 1: five days a week. She's busy. New album empower. Her
- 19:01Speaker 1: new album empowers and calls all women to stand up
- 19:04Speaker 1: for themselves and to be bold, brave and fearless, which
- 19:07Speaker 1: I love. I'm a product of being raised around six
- 19:11Speaker 1: sisters myself. So empowering women period, but especially women of
- 19:16Speaker 1: color is important because there's a tier level to what
- 19:19Speaker 1: we see in life. You know, you know, we have
- 19:22Speaker 1: color restrictions of color discrimination. So you're already knocked down there.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Then you get into the male and the female agenda,
- 19:29Speaker 1: You're already gonna get knocked down there because women have
- 19:32Speaker 1: got to fight that they're equal for equal pay, equal physicality.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I can do the same job you can do. Yes,
- 19:38Speaker 1: there are some things that there are some boxes I
- 19:40Speaker 1: can pick up there the woman can't pick up. But
- 19:42Speaker 1: there's also some equipment that you can buy that can
- 19:44Speaker 1: make her pick up and we'll be equal. Okay, So
- 19:46Speaker 1: let's understand that the parameters are making things equal are
- 19:50Speaker 1: available today. Now. The thing about her is that when
- 19:54Speaker 1: I when I first brought on the show, it was
- 19:56Speaker 1: about her new book, The weight is over Weight being
- 19:58Speaker 1: w E I G H T. I mean, there's an
- 20:00Speaker 1: issue that a lot of women today deal with body image,
- 20:04Speaker 1: What's what's what's acceptable, What's what's how should I look
- 20:08Speaker 1: when I woke up in the morning. Should I be
- 20:10Speaker 1: jumping on the scale on the daily basis? Should I
- 20:12Speaker 1: be worried about how my clothes fit me? Should I
- 20:15Speaker 1: be what's my wardrobe? What? What what men like me?
- 20:18Speaker 1: If I'm a side swell versus a size six with
- 20:21Speaker 1: men like me? If I'm wearing charge skurts or pants
- 20:24Speaker 1: with men like me, if I if I if I
- 20:26Speaker 1: am light skinning the dark, skinning, my hair straight up,
- 20:29Speaker 1: my hair is curly. That's what images that we play
- 20:32Speaker 1: out every day in our community, whether you white, black, Latino,
- 20:38Speaker 1: but more important that we're talking about black right now
- 20:41Speaker 1: because of the fact that I lived that every day.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I've lived it all my life. So Lenda Johnson has
- 20:45Speaker 1: lived that all the life. She writes about it in
- 20:47Speaker 1: the book. She's very athletic. When she was growing up,
- 20:50Speaker 1: she was a little bit, as she says, big for
- 20:52Speaker 1: her size, so people treated are different. And because she
- 20:56Speaker 1: wore a certain type of clothes she was she was
- 20:58Speaker 1: reprimanded for that because people thought she was trying to
- 21:01Speaker 1: be too much more than her age should allow her
- 21:04Speaker 1: to be. So let's talk about that part of how
- 21:07Speaker 1: you're your body image affected you as an adolescents all
- 21:12Speaker 1: the way through your music career as well as today
- 21:14Speaker 1: where you're now a fitness competitor. I am five ten,
- 21:22Speaker 1: so already five ten is the height of most the
- 21:26Speaker 1: average man, you know, and you know what I'm saying,
- 21:31Speaker 1: five things maybe been five ten and six two is
- 21:34Speaker 1: an average man. So you're already coming in. You already
- 21:38Speaker 1: challenging my space right now. You're challenging my space right now,
- 21:41Speaker 1: are having I'm already but I like to look the
- 21:49Speaker 1: six feet and over. I'm a okay so mostly and
- 21:53Speaker 1: that that short man complex. Man do not care. But
- 21:59Speaker 1: here's the a that I want to say about body
- 22:03Speaker 1: and it and you know, women with the whole um,
- 22:07Speaker 1: the whole philosophy of if I'm besides too, I can't
- 22:10Speaker 1: get a man, if I'm as fear, if I can't
- 22:11Speaker 1: get an you know that whole thing. I think that
- 22:14Speaker 1: that has now become a woman woman problem. That is
- 22:19Speaker 1: not now. Yeah, man, my men may have started it
- 22:21Speaker 1: back in the day, but I think that women have
- 22:24Speaker 1: taken it on to become a bigger problem. I think
- 22:27Speaker 1: that women don't know what a man wants anymore. And
- 22:31Speaker 1: I think you're guessing because and this is my opinion,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and you tell me, correct me if I'm on. I
- 22:37Speaker 1: don't think the men are running around on a day
- 22:39Speaker 1: to day basis looking for a certain look in certain side.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I don't think all men are doing that. I think
- 22:46Speaker 1: most of the time men you the woman that believes
- 22:48Speaker 1: in them. I think that's the number one thing for
- 22:51Speaker 1: a man. Do you believe in me? Can I depend
- 22:53Speaker 1: on you? Yeah? Men are visually attracted, of course there
- 22:59Speaker 1: you know that, just the type of beings they are,
- 23:01Speaker 1: so you have to be usually attractive to him. But
- 23:04Speaker 1: that's women too. You have these visually attracted to me
- 23:06Speaker 1: as well, not as much as a man, because we
- 23:08Speaker 1: like powers, be like flags. So you don't have to
- 23:11Speaker 1: be the finest man on the street. But if you're
- 23:14Speaker 1: successful and you're a fighter, and you look like you
- 23:17Speaker 1: can take care of your family and all of that,
- 23:20Speaker 1: and are dependable and loyal, we like those concepts. I
- 23:23Speaker 1: think that women have driven themselves in saying by the
- 23:26Speaker 1: type of behind the imagery that has been put out
- 23:30Speaker 1: there by society and puts the media. That is what
- 23:33Speaker 1: has driven the the the ideology of that we have
- 23:38Speaker 1: to be this certain size and certain way to get
- 23:40Speaker 1: a man. I have beautiful friends who have amazing bodies,
- 23:44Speaker 1: who are smart and capable for a single let me
- 23:49Speaker 1: say that again, tons of them or this I'm talking
- 23:52Speaker 1: about models, model like or single and and most of
- 23:57Speaker 1: the reasons for that is because they're independent. And some
- 24:01Speaker 1: of some men out here, um are they shot away
- 24:04Speaker 1: some independence because that independence is normally passive with the
- 24:09Speaker 1: process of I don't leave no man when no man
- 24:12Speaker 1: wants to be with a woman that feels that he
- 24:14Speaker 1: doesn't need he's not needed by her. And and that's
- 24:18Speaker 1: just the truth. That's why I laughed, That's where I laughed.
- 24:23Speaker 1: It's part of it's part of this man who feel leading.
- 24:26Speaker 1: He wants to know that I am successful in taking
- 24:29Speaker 1: care if I have the goods to take care of women.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I want to know that I can take care of
- 24:33Speaker 1: unless you's a free cystem of it, and that she
- 24:35Speaker 1: can take care of me in returns. And a lot
- 24:37Speaker 1: of women are not submissive enough. Um. And I'm not
- 24:41Speaker 1: saying they have to be walking around their head jail down,
- 24:43Speaker 1: but they have to be able to submit in a
- 24:45Speaker 1: way to their man. That um that lends to a
- 24:50Speaker 1: face for them to work together. Meaning if a woman
- 24:53Speaker 1: is in a is in a situation where a man
- 24:55Speaker 1: is leading, let me leave and don't try to step
- 24:58Speaker 1: in all the time. You know what I'm saying. So
- 25:01Speaker 1: some women are not. Some independent women have the era
- 25:04Speaker 1: of I have been doing it so long, I don't
- 25:06Speaker 1: need you to come in and help me. So now
- 25:08Speaker 1: they're used to doing it so long as by themselves
- 25:11Speaker 1: that it's harder for them to let down the regards
- 25:13Speaker 1: to have to allow a man to come in and
- 25:15Speaker 1: love on them and take over, because it's not it's
- 25:19Speaker 1: not about their side and look anymore. It's more to
- 25:22Speaker 1: about attitude. Let me let me comment on that, because
- 25:25Speaker 1: first of all, I agree with everything you're saying. Okay.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Is the reason I say that, because because of the
- 25:30Speaker 1: fact that the problem starts in the very beginning. It's
- 25:33Speaker 1: called communication. Make sure that person is looking at you
- 25:37Speaker 1: because you look good to them. It's gonna communicate with
- 25:41Speaker 1: you the way you want to be communicated with. Okay. Now,
- 25:44Speaker 1: if you start your relationship and it's physical, I swear
- 25:48Speaker 1: to you, it's gonna end bad or it's not gonna
- 25:50Speaker 1: end the way you wanted to end of a relationship
- 25:53Speaker 1: that is physical in the beginning, You've lost, You've lost
- 25:57Speaker 1: the whole. What I want to do with my life,
- 26:00Speaker 1: what I'm looking for in a man long term? What
- 26:02Speaker 1: I why? I think all that has been thrown away.
- 26:06Speaker 1: So so if you, if you drive your relationships and
- 26:10Speaker 1: tied to sex, got a problem. Now with that being said,
- 26:14Speaker 1: I always tell people that you know, I'm attracted to
- 26:19Speaker 1: women who tell me they have goals, tell me they
- 26:22Speaker 1: have dreams that that are thinkers I really have. If you,
- 26:26Speaker 1: if you, if you, if you can compete with me mentally,
- 26:30Speaker 1: then I'm I'm excited. This is true Sean McDonald talking
- 26:33Speaker 1: because I always like to I always like to wake
- 26:35Speaker 1: up and have a different conversation. And like I told
- 26:37Speaker 1: tell people, I always like to learn some things. I
- 26:39Speaker 1: like to learn some things from my partner. I like
- 26:41Speaker 1: to be challenged by my partner and information. And that's
- 26:44Speaker 1: all you're saying right now, That's all you're saying. But
- 26:46Speaker 1: also as a man, I have to feel a physical
- 26:50Speaker 1: role in the relationship. And you know that means that
- 26:53Speaker 1: if it's dark, I go and answer the door, I
- 26:56Speaker 1: hear north, I get up and listen to the north.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I can't tell my wife, hey, baby is a side
- 27:01Speaker 1: whyn't you go look and look at it and find
- 27:03Speaker 1: out what's going on. Now we've already changed, the rules
- 27:07Speaker 1: have been changed. You know, there are certain things from
- 27:10Speaker 1: a from a physical from a from a physical characteristics,
- 27:14Speaker 1: you have to maintain security. But from a standpoint of women,
- 27:18Speaker 1: listen to me and listen to Selena, all we're saying
- 27:22Speaker 1: is this, you have to have standards. You have to say. Look,
- 27:27Speaker 1: it's not about the image all the time. It's about
- 27:29Speaker 1: what I want. If a man does not, in that
- 27:32Speaker 1: openest statement, deliver information to you that you want to
- 27:37Speaker 1: hear about you other than your looks, you're gonna have
- 27:41Speaker 1: a problem. You're going to have a problem. I swear
- 27:44Speaker 1: that you're gonna have a problem. And it's not gonna
- 27:46Speaker 1: end good. That's all you're saying, and that's all you
- 27:49Speaker 1: said say in your book the way it's over Look,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I've been having body image problems since I was at Listens,
- 27:55Speaker 1: and they've carried all through our music career. Then I
- 27:57Speaker 1: realized it's bigger than that. It ain't so about the image.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's about how we think and how we allow people
- 28:03Speaker 1: to bring that bad thoughts into our lives. They're bad
- 28:07Speaker 1: standards into our lives, and we don't challenge them as women.
- 28:13Speaker 1: That's all you're saying. Yeah, I said, it's all in
- 28:15Speaker 1: the mind. Starts all in the mind, and when you
- 28:18Speaker 1: change the thing, can you change your whole life. Let's
- 28:21Speaker 1: talk about this fitness competition of this brand. You know,
- 28:24Speaker 1: I always knew you had the fitness line, the fitness
- 28:26Speaker 1: concept of Finnish branding, but what what what got you
- 28:29Speaker 1: into the competitive state of fitness. I've always wanted to compete.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I guess it wasn't until um I turned you know,
- 28:42Speaker 1: reported too, and said, you know, how long are you
- 28:45Speaker 1: going to put this off? How long are you gonna
- 28:48Speaker 1: set this aside? How long are you going to keep
- 28:50Speaker 1: um uh, convincing yourself that you can't do it? And
- 28:54Speaker 1: the truth is, it's a burning sensation. It's something that
- 28:58Speaker 1: you've been wanting to do. I've been one need to
- 29:00Speaker 1: do it since I was twenty years old, and I
- 29:03Speaker 1: just never thought I had the time. I never thought
- 29:06Speaker 1: I had the discipline, and I wanted to see if
- 29:09Speaker 1: if that was the truth. And so I said, you
- 29:12Speaker 1: know what, We're gonna just tried. I mean the reason
- 29:15Speaker 1: why I'm able to trappings and the reason why I
- 29:19Speaker 1: accomplished a lot of stuff in my life, even if
- 29:22Speaker 1: certain things I can't control. But I accomplished my goals,
- 29:25Speaker 1: like little goals here and there, because I tried. You know,
- 29:29Speaker 1: I just tried now, and I'm also not afraid to
- 29:34Speaker 1: say it. I'm not afraid to say it. I don't
- 29:36Speaker 1: like failure, but I can't be afraid to sail. If
- 29:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna call. But I've already be failure once. I tried.
- 29:44Speaker 1: So just so happy that when I tried, you know,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I usually make it, and so this time I tried.
- 29:51Speaker 1: It took me, you know a long time, because I
- 29:53Speaker 1: want to injuries and things of that nation. Of course,
- 29:55Speaker 1: the devil doesn't want you to get the way you
- 29:57Speaker 1: need to go, but you you have when you work it.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Now that that's what time it is. That the enemy
- 30:02Speaker 1: is always you know, he's speaking to devour at all
- 30:05Speaker 1: at all at all areas. Then you can you can pray,
- 30:09Speaker 1: you can play fall a certain points. So I just said,
- 30:13Speaker 1: you know what, I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna get
- 30:14Speaker 1: a professional all the tools I needed. It was very
- 30:18Speaker 1: difficult it was costly, but it was it was rewarding.
- 30:22Speaker 1: My life has changed forever. I am now a fitness competitor.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I'm training for my next competition. Obviously it was pushed
- 30:29Speaker 1: because it is still be the um you know, pandemic. Yeah,
- 30:35Speaker 1: but um the new day is August twenty nine. But
- 30:38Speaker 1: that's got it. Why have more times to profess the
- 30:41Speaker 1: body that I want? So I just have to keep working,
- 30:44Speaker 1: keep art. And it's always fun because I already love fitness.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I'm already into it. There's something I do every day,
- 30:50Speaker 1: do anyway, and it it fulfills that competitive is that
- 30:53Speaker 1: already lives in me and I'm not able to fulfill
- 30:55Speaker 1: on a day to day basis. And you don't compete
- 30:58Speaker 1: against others. You're competing againsto else, which is super fun
- 31:01Speaker 1: and in a deal character and teaches you so much
- 31:04Speaker 1: about yourself, you know. I I really being that you're
- 31:07Speaker 1: a former athlete, basketball star, tennant star from high school.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And I always tell people sometimes you have to look
- 31:13Speaker 1: in your past to plan your greatness. And being a
- 31:18Speaker 1: young athlete, you just replicating that as a fitness competitor
- 31:21Speaker 1: now and so you're not you're not doing anything that
- 31:25Speaker 1: was strange. You just heard, you just finally committed to
- 31:28Speaker 1: the voice that you always was hearing in your head.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Do it, dude. I don't have time. I'm too busy,
- 31:34Speaker 1: I'm dating man, I'm moving to another city, I'm on
- 31:39Speaker 1: the road. But the voice always said, You've always been
- 31:42Speaker 1: an athlete. You always just always drove you. And I
- 31:45Speaker 1: think it's important that you remind people this is part
- 31:48Speaker 1: of your story so people won't think it's a fad
- 31:50Speaker 1: of think it's something that you just thought, you just
- 31:52Speaker 1: do because you just was wanted to do it. Because
- 31:55Speaker 1: us Selena Jones, you do anything you want. It's not
- 31:58Speaker 1: a bucket it's not a bucket list like it's an
- 32:00Speaker 1: actual things that I've been wanting to do. Yes, it's
- 32:05Speaker 1: long time. Yeah, it's hello somebody you know. And I'm
- 32:13Speaker 1: so glad you said that because a lot of times
- 32:16Speaker 1: when celebrities do something or it's because I'm a I'm
- 32:20Speaker 1: a singer. If I do something that's outside of singing,
- 32:23Speaker 1: then that's just on the side. It's to be able
- 32:28Speaker 1: to do three things and be grade at all of them.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Love it, you believe in themselves. Most people are wanted
- 32:36Speaker 1: to mention on they don't believe that they can be
- 32:38Speaker 1: more than one thing. Well, Celena, you know I'm a fan.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I'm so glad we took the time to get together
- 32:43Speaker 1: again to talk about the single woman, to talk about you,
- 32:46Speaker 1: your evolution as a not only as a as a
- 32:49Speaker 1: physical presence, but a motivational force, because that's what you are.
- 32:52Speaker 1: You can see her on a daily basis of Sister Circle,
- 32:55Speaker 1: which is on a TV one daytime talk show. She's
- 32:57Speaker 1: one of the co hosts. Yes, she is foote and
- 33:00Speaker 1: I've stood next to and within while I'm standing next
- 33:02Speaker 1: to a woman. That's all. That's all I say. When
- 33:04Speaker 1: I stood next to where I did show, I'm standing
- 33:06Speaker 1: next to a real woman. And the fact that your
- 33:08Speaker 1: single is called woman, I feel blessed because I saw one,
- 33:12Speaker 1: I met one, and you are one. Selena, stay strong, Okay,
- 33:15Speaker 1: thank you, Thank you so much, you too, and be
