- 0:20Speaker 1: Decision make because it's what he likes to do. It's
- 0:22Speaker 1: what he likes to share.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Now it's time to hear from my man, Rashan McDonald
- 0:27Speaker 2: money making Conversations.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Here we go. There's whether another day, another dollar, that's
- 0:32Speaker 1: what they say. Welcome to the Money Making Conversation Masterclass.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I am your host, Rashawn McDonald. Our theme is there's
- 0:38Speaker 1: no perfect time to start following your dreams. I say
- 0:41Speaker 1: that every week.
- 0:42Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I think that if you keep saying something, then people
- 0:45Speaker 1: will eventually hear it. You know, it's like going by
- 0:48Speaker 1: his store. If a grocery store decided it will not
- 0:51Speaker 1: have it sign on, then you will stop going in.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So they keep its sign on to remind you that
- 0:57Speaker 1: you can come in to get service. I'm going to
- 0:59Speaker 1: tell you or any day that this show airs. I'm
- 1:02Speaker 1: going to tell you that the theme is there's no
- 1:05Speaker 1: perfect time to start following your dreams. I recognize that
- 1:08Speaker 1: we all have different definitions of success. For you and
- 1:11Speaker 1: maybe the side of your paycheck, mine is inspiring you
- 1:14Speaker 1: to accomplish your goals and live your very best life.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Do you hear me? I know I'm preaching. I preach
- 1:19Speaker 1: all the time. I preach because you know I speaking
- 1:23Speaker 1: to the Black community. We're used to that cadence, that reverence.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's time to start reading other people's success stories and
- 1:30Speaker 1: start living your own. That's preaching. But I'm not gonna
- 1:33Speaker 1: go to that extreme because people always talk about you
- 1:35Speaker 1: know that purpose. You know, people always talk purpose and gifts.
- 1:38Speaker 1: You hear a lot about that and social media because
- 1:40Speaker 1: you have a gift. Everybody has a gift, not gifts.
- 1:44Speaker 1: A gift. Leave with your gift and don't let your friends.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's very important because there's a lot of people who
- 1:49Speaker 1: have dreams that are not That doesn't line up with
- 1:52Speaker 1: your with your family, may not line up with your friends,
- 1:55Speaker 1: may not line up with your loved want, your parents,
- 1:57Speaker 1: your coworkers, and guess what, they'll shut it down because
- 2:01Speaker 1: they don't understand that direction. I remember when I left IBM.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I had a great job at IM, but I told
- 2:06Speaker 1: everybody wanted to be a stand up comedian. They tried
- 2:09Speaker 1: to shut me down. Oh you go, You're gonna be
- 2:11Speaker 1: the next Richard Pride. Huh really, Eddie Murphy? Really, because
- 2:15Speaker 1: those were the big names when I decided to leave
- 2:17Speaker 1: IBM at the time, you know, there was a dream killers.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I didn't listen to them. And my guests today are
- 2:24Speaker 1: about the American dream both of them. They're on the
- 2:27Speaker 1: show today to let you know it can happen for you.
- 2:30Speaker 1: One is a real estate developer. My first guest, listen
- 2:34Speaker 1: to me, heero, my first guest, this is a dreamer,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and I'm pretty sure people have told her this was
- 2:38Speaker 1: not going to happen in a lifetime. My first guest
- 2:41Speaker 1: has purchased nearly one thousand acres in the Dominican Republic
- 2:46Speaker 1: for a golf result. Not in Georgia, not in Alabama,
- 2:52Speaker 1: not Mississippi, Dominican Republic. These are American dreamers. And I'm
- 2:56Speaker 1: pretty sure people out there killing your dreams and killing
- 2:58Speaker 1: their dreams left and right saying that's impossible. What Rashan
- 3:01Speaker 1: is talking about well, guess what. Let's get money making
- 3:04Speaker 1: conversation master class started and you're gonna hear the truth.
- 3:07Speaker 1: My first guest is an attorney real estate developer, Diana Lynch.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Attorney Lynch focused on her practice on family, sports, entertainment,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and business law. She has over two decades worth of
- 3:19Speaker 1: litigation experience and family law and holds a license in
- 3:22Speaker 1: mediation and arbitration. There was a difference. I'm gonna ask
- 3:25Speaker 1: her what it's the difference between mediation and arbitration cases
- 3:29Speaker 1: involving divorce, child custody, child support, property division all part
- 3:34Speaker 1: of her specialization. We know there's a half of America
- 3:39Speaker 1: gets married, turns around, gets a divorce. Possessing the right
- 3:42Speaker 1: range of legal knowledge. She has also handled personal injury
- 3:45Speaker 1: and other general civil litigation matters as a real estate developer.
- 3:50Speaker 1: We will discuss her historic purchase. I said it earlier
- 3:53Speaker 1: of nearly one thousand acres in the Dominican Republic for
- 3:56Speaker 1: a golf result, but gets the text us up. This
- 3:58Speaker 1: is what she really on the show. A primary purpose
- 4:01Speaker 1: isn't just acquiring wealth for herself. It's inspiring the black
- 4:05Speaker 1: community to take on more ownership. Please work with the
- 4:08Speaker 1: money making conversation Mastercline, Attorney Diana Lynch, How you doing, Hi?
- 4:14Speaker 4: How are you? Thanks for having me?
- 4:15Speaker 5: Now?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Did I get you fired up? Attorney Lynch? Don't get
- 4:17Speaker 1: you fired up?
- 4:18Speaker 5: You got me.
- 4:18Speaker 4: You got me fired up. I tell you, I just
- 4:21Speaker 4: love it when people tell us that we could do
- 4:23Speaker 4: things differently. We can live life differently, we could do
- 4:26Speaker 4: things differently when I other than when our parents told us.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I mean, if you start with where I began, you
- 4:31Speaker 4: would I wouldn't even expect that I would be here,
- 4:33Speaker 4: especially what everybody tells you. And I tell the gentleman
- 4:36Speaker 4: I mentor. I mentor a group of gentlemen. I said,
- 4:38Speaker 4: we'd never take no for an answer, And so that's
- 4:41Speaker 4: one of the things I said, unless it's a woman,
- 4:43Speaker 4: then even a maybe, it's a no. And you'll see
- 4:45Speaker 4: the thousands of people that I touch and the fifty
- 4:48Speaker 4: or more that I put through school in my nonprofit.
- 4:50Speaker 4: That's what they'll know when they when I meet them
- 4:52Speaker 4: and I see them on the street, I said, do
- 4:54Speaker 4: we take no for an answer? They say no, unless
- 4:56Speaker 4: it's a lady, and then even a maybe it's a no.
- 4:59Speaker 4: So yeah, that's what I I tell them.
- 5:00Speaker 1: We turned to Lynch, you know, the first time we've spoken,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and I was reading this press release because I always
- 5:06Speaker 1: try to read and understand the persons, because I get
- 5:09Speaker 1: information that the interview is about, and we're going to
- 5:12Speaker 1: get to that if because what we're but I also
- 5:14Speaker 1: want to know. When I was reading this press release,
- 5:17Speaker 1: it said primary purpose isn't just acquiring wealth for herself.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It's inspiring the black community to take on more ownership.
- 5:25Speaker 1: What exactly you saying that, Well, the.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Thing is, as a child, I grew up in Brooklyn,
- 5:30Speaker 4: New York, in a pretty urban environment. One of the
- 5:34Speaker 4: things we always aspired to do and was taught to
- 5:36Speaker 4: do this to own the land, all right, nor because
- 5:40Speaker 4: when you own the land, it comes with it quite
- 5:43Speaker 4: a bit of one responsibility, opportunity. Legacy. Land historically does
- 5:49Speaker 4: not lose value in the stock market as investment stock market.
- 5:53Speaker 4: I was told to put money in the stock market
- 5:55Speaker 4: and do various other things, and I have historically, after
- 5:59Speaker 4: Niles and various other times, lost a lot of money
- 6:03Speaker 4: in the stock market. And what my financial advisor will
- 6:06Speaker 4: tell me is just stay in it. It's gonna come back.
- 6:08Speaker 4: And just as it comes back, we got Ukraine and
- 6:10Speaker 4: Russia fighting and all the way around the world. And
- 6:12Speaker 4: now we you know, our president might say so, our
- 6:16Speaker 4: former president may touch something our line, and then our
- 6:18Speaker 4: stock market, our stocks go down. So so many other
- 6:21Speaker 4: things affect our portfolio other than what we can tangibly do.
- 6:26Speaker 4: What can if it makes you feel helpless, And one
- 6:28Speaker 4: of the things that owning land does, you can make
- 6:32Speaker 4: strategic decisions based on market forces, appreciation and land land appreciates,
- 6:37Speaker 4: and even in both markets and various other things, they
- 6:40Speaker 4: tell you invest in land. Many you follow the money
- 6:43Speaker 4: where where are the others investing their money? And as
- 6:47Speaker 4: a young adult entering the legal profession, right after losing
- 6:52Speaker 4: quite a bit in the stock market, I said, well work,
- 6:53Speaker 4: I need to. I made the decision. Wasn't popular to
- 6:56Speaker 4: pull my money out, and I needed to put it
- 6:58Speaker 4: somewhere because I needed to work for myself as a lawyer.
- 7:01Speaker 4: The fortunate and unfortunate thing is that you get paid
- 7:03Speaker 4: when you when you work buillable hours. However, I wanted
- 7:07Speaker 4: something that was passive where I would be making money
- 7:09Speaker 4: even when I was not there, and real estate was
- 7:12Speaker 4: the answer for me. So I started investing in properties
- 7:14Speaker 4: around university campuses, various other things, so I get a
- 7:17Speaker 4: premium on my rental income. I looked at where the
- 7:20Speaker 4: trajectory was. I didn't want to just invest in markets
- 7:24Speaker 4: where it had already reached the peak of performance. In fact,
- 7:28Speaker 4: I told a story on another popular talk show recently,
- 7:32Speaker 4: and I said, I was in a meeting with brand
- 7:34Speaker 4: brand manager hotel operator because we're at that stage where
- 7:38Speaker 4: we have made some decisions with partnerships with major brands,
- 7:43Speaker 4: our hotel brands. And I was at the meeting and
- 7:45Speaker 4: I was the only one that looked like me at
- 7:47Speaker 4: that meeting, and I was told he said, many of
- 7:51Speaker 4: us don't want to drink the water until it was cold.
- 7:53Speaker 4: And I didn't understand what he meant, because you know,
- 8:00Speaker 4: you know how we do. We said, expound on that,
- 8:04Speaker 4: and I allow him to do just that, right, because
- 8:06Speaker 4: sometimes it's better to be quiet and learned and to
- 8:08Speaker 4: talk and let people know what you are.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:11Speaker 4: So he simply said, we don't want to come to
- 8:14Speaker 4: something until is shiny on to the water's cool, until
- 8:17Speaker 4: after it's been developed and it's come out of the ground.
- 8:19Speaker 4: And unfortunately, we are not often as a people, the
- 8:23Speaker 4: culture at the table when these opportunities happen. So while
- 8:26Speaker 4: we whiley, while they may say we don't want to,
- 8:29Speaker 4: it's because a lot of times we have not been
- 8:31Speaker 4: afforded the opportunity to come to And I can give
- 8:33Speaker 4: you many differentations.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You know, you're absolutely telling the truth. You know you
- 8:39Speaker 1: know and I understand exactly what he's talking about. We
- 8:41Speaker 1: always come back once the buildings built, not understanding you
- 8:45Speaker 1: could have bought the land before the building was built.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And we look at we drive through these neighborhood especially
- 8:51Speaker 1: our neighborhoods that are run down, not knowing that. I
- 8:54Speaker 1: have a very successful brother in law in Houston, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: he would go into our neighborhoods and he will see
- 9:02Speaker 1: run down houses and he'll go to a block. And
- 9:04Speaker 1: the city is all about any city, it's any city
- 9:07Speaker 1: in the country. They're about trying to raise tax dollars.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So if you're going to tell them that you're going
- 9:13Speaker 1: to tear down all these houses on this block, which
- 9:15Speaker 1: means you can get them, you can get these home
- 9:17Speaker 1: penny on a dollar now, okay, because people living in
- 9:20Speaker 1: them really aren't in a position to be able to
- 9:25Speaker 1: argue the price when you offer it to them. And
- 9:27Speaker 1: then the city will offer you concessions. Then you build
- 9:30Speaker 1: that neighborhood back up, and all of a sudden, that
- 9:32Speaker 1: means that other people are getting get moved out?
- 9:34Speaker 4: Is it?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Because then all of a sudden we have our local
- 9:37Speaker 1: politicians arguing that we've moved our black community, we disenfranchising people.
- 9:41Speaker 1: You know, gentrification are when that happens? Are we victims? Are?
- 9:48Speaker 1: We're just not aware. I'm talking about the black community.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Absolutely. I think we're missing at the opportunity right so,
- 9:56Speaker 4: and I know exactly what you mean. I have a
- 9:58Speaker 4: property downtown Atlanta was on the first I was the
- 10:00Speaker 4: only law firm in Mechanics Fille sub community in downtown Atlanta,
- 10:05Speaker 4: the closest community to the Capital of prime property right
- 10:08Speaker 4: but it had been underdeveloped. It's often been the place
- 10:11Speaker 4: where they placed a lot of Section AID in low
- 10:14Speaker 4: income housing, and it was I made the decision that
- 10:18Speaker 4: that was an opportunity for me to move my law
- 10:21Speaker 4: practice there. Now I represent a lot of high end
- 10:23Speaker 4: entertainers and clients. And they frowned upon it because I
- 10:27Speaker 4: left Atlantic Station, which is a thriving area, paying eight
- 10:30Speaker 4: thousand dollars a month for someone else to benefit financially,
- 10:34Speaker 4: and I said, I need to get somewhere where I
- 10:35Speaker 4: can own so when I pay that bill, it's going
- 10:38Speaker 4: to benefit me in the long run. And what I did.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I acquired one property, and then another, and then another,
- 10:43Speaker 4: and after a while I was sitting on a city block.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And right now we're developing what is called Signature Atlanta,
- 10:49Speaker 4: which is one of the They called us the unicorn
- 10:52Speaker 4: and the real estate digests in downtown Atlanta because we're
- 10:55Speaker 4: one of a kind. We'll be a five story mixed
- 10:59Speaker 4: use community where you have your commercial space at the
- 11:02Speaker 4: bottom rooftop terraces. Now, that was a property in an
- 11:06Speaker 4: area that had been underserved and not everything's coming to us.
- 11:09Speaker 4: The belt line, the bike bike relayed all the things
- 11:13Speaker 4: that are coming, and we had I was there before
- 11:15Speaker 4: it got before the water got cold. And that's how
- 11:18Speaker 4: it's been absolute.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Let me tell you some doctor Lynch. When I when
- 11:21Speaker 1: I I turned to Lynch, you, I apologize. I turned
- 11:24Speaker 1: Lynch when I when I hear you, I hear all
- 11:26Speaker 1: this confidence. You know you, I mean you one after one,
- 11:29Speaker 1: one sentence after the next, follows follows follows. Because you
- 11:33Speaker 1: you you understand who you are. You understand your brand,
- 11:36Speaker 1: because you have a brand. How did how did that
- 11:39Speaker 1: journey get you there?
- 11:41Speaker 3: What?
- 11:41Speaker 1: What? What? What? Who mentored you? Who told you that
- 11:44Speaker 1: could it could happen? And when you went, when they
- 11:47Speaker 1: said ready to say go, you were ready to go?
- 11:50Speaker 4: You know what? Ideally, you know, I've had many mentors,
- 11:53Speaker 4: my friends I've had. I have a unique group of
- 11:55Speaker 4: friends who, like myself, came from nothing, and we just
- 12:00Speaker 4: we aspire to want something for ourselves. And much of
- 12:03Speaker 4: my motivation is to want differently for my family. I
- 12:05Speaker 4: don't even want it for myself. I just wanted to
- 12:08Speaker 4: make sure that I would be in a position to
- 12:10Speaker 4: better my family's human condition. And that's what that legacy
- 12:13Speaker 4: we talk about. And so while I don't have children,
- 12:15Speaker 4: I've raised many, And while you know, while I didn't
- 12:18Speaker 4: have anything in the beginning, I was determined that each
- 12:21Speaker 4: day I was going to try to find something to
- 12:23Speaker 4: better my human condition. And so I saw out people
- 12:27Speaker 4: who were doing things that I wanted to do. If
- 12:29Speaker 4: you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the
- 12:31Speaker 4: wrong room. And so you definitely need to make sure
- 12:34Speaker 4: you're around people who can can educate you and inspire
- 12:37Speaker 4: you and support you, and so not just even for
- 12:41Speaker 4: my financial respective and support you morally and socially and religiously.
- 12:45Speaker 4: And so I've been blessed to have a group of
- 12:48Speaker 4: people who travel with me since college at university to
- 12:51Speaker 4: you know, just being in Atlanta. Were still my barbecue class.
- 12:55Speaker 4: We still hang out together and we are just We're
- 13:00Speaker 4: just a group of people who want to be better
- 13:02Speaker 4: and we know what we aspired to. So while I
- 13:04Speaker 4: didn't have anybody, and I want people to understand, while
- 13:07Speaker 4: it hasn't been done in your family before, that should
- 13:10Speaker 4: even motivate you even more to be a trail based brolizer,
- 13:13Speaker 4: be the unicorn in your family. I call myself the
- 13:16Speaker 4: unicorn because it's it represents strength and purity and want
- 13:21Speaker 4: of a kind uniqueness, and those are the kinds of
- 13:24Speaker 4: things that I strive to be. Is a trailblazer. Anic
- 13:29Speaker 4: doesn't dictate my Yeah, you know.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm about to jump through this. This my girl, I'm
- 13:34Speaker 1: about I'm about to.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Dive on in. I'm in.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm in your fan club. I'm into the Attorney LEDs
- 13:40Speaker 1: fan club because of the fact that you know, I
- 13:43Speaker 1: just love and enjoy people who come on my show
- 13:47Speaker 1: who just when you know when you get near them,
- 13:50Speaker 1: you're near a unique thinking person, a very unique thinking
- 13:54Speaker 1: person who has values and courageous And when people have
- 13:57Speaker 1: told you no, like you said at the beginning of
- 13:59Speaker 1: this you no, maybe no, But I guess what, No,
- 14:02Speaker 1: it's not going to turn me around and have and
- 14:04Speaker 1: bring tears to my eyes. It's gonna tell me I
- 14:07Speaker 1: got to take it from a different angle to get
- 14:09Speaker 1: the yes I'm trying to achieve out of his relationship fear.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Let's talk about fear before I go to the break.
- 14:15Speaker 1: How did you overcome fear in dealing with every day? Knows?
- 14:21Speaker 6: Well?
- 14:21Speaker 4: You know I encounter fear every day. You know, things
- 14:25Speaker 4: that are new to me, and I always believe in transparency.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Let's be real. You're gonna see things and encounter things
- 14:32Speaker 4: that you haven't experienced before. So that's going to create
- 14:34Speaker 4: a little bit of anxiety for you. But you got
- 14:37Speaker 4: to know that God is to give you the spirit
- 14:39Speaker 4: of fear. So you have to understand that whatever he
- 14:42Speaker 4: brings you to, he'll bring you through. And so while
- 14:45Speaker 4: that door may close, that's because He has a better
- 14:47Speaker 4: one for you. And that's what happened repeatedly as we
- 14:50Speaker 4: developed our resort in Dominican Republic. We we did not
- 14:54Speaker 4: stop at the fact that we're the only African American
- 14:57Speaker 4: development firm that was down there developing. We did not
- 15:00Speaker 4: try to just do, oh we can we can together
- 15:02Speaker 4: do four houses and just build it and sit on
- 15:05Speaker 4: it for ourselves. We wanted to make sure that we
- 15:08Speaker 4: create something so when we have our conferences and our
- 15:12Speaker 4: mansor's venue, we don't have to go someplace where we're
- 15:15Speaker 4: only welcomed the months out of the year and leave
- 15:17Speaker 4: thousands of dollars. We can actually benefit from the fact
- 15:20Speaker 4: that we actually can acquire something. We can build a
- 15:23Speaker 4: legacy for our families. We can have our conferences and conventions.
- 15:26Speaker 4: We can we create a mansor's vineyard on our own
- 15:29Speaker 4: land and land that was settled by.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Apples and by laws. I was not mistaken when I said,
- 15:35Speaker 1: doctor Lynch, she's peddling that medicine, that medicine of inspiration,
- 15:40Speaker 1: that medicine of motivation. She's attorney by law, but she's
- 15:45Speaker 1: a medicine. She's a healer, she's a motivator.
- 15:49Speaker 7: You are now tuned into the money making conversations. Minute
- 15:53Speaker 7: of Inspiration with Rashaan McDonald.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Tmauri to start our family Reunion recall spending years being
- 16:00Speaker 1: incorrectly treated for her debilitating abdomino pain. This experience inspired
- 16:04Speaker 1: Tia to sell healthy vitamin supplements.
- 16:07Speaker 8: I decided to come out with a supplement line called
- 16:09Speaker 8: Answer to encourage and to inspire women to take back
- 16:14Speaker 8: and charge of their health. It's called Answer, insinuating you
- 16:18Speaker 8: are the Answer. And after my surgeries with indometriosis, my
- 16:22Speaker 8: doctor was like, Yo, Tia, there's nothing I can do.
- 16:24Speaker 8: You kind of have to start looking at your lifestyle.
- 16:26Speaker 8: And that's exactly what I did, and I want to
- 16:28Speaker 8: encourage other women and people do the same. We have
- 16:31Speaker 8: a women's multi, we have an Elderberry, we have a
- 16:34Speaker 8: kid's gummy, we have a men's line. We're going to
- 16:37Speaker 8: be coming out with several other amazing supplements.
- 16:41Speaker 1: If you want to hear this full interview with Tiamuri,
- 16:44Speaker 1: visit Moneymakingconversation dot com. Keep Winning Now, that does not
- 16:49Speaker 1: even wrap my head remotely around somebody who can go
- 16:53Speaker 1: to another country and buy one thousand acres in a
- 16:57Speaker 1: country as the Dominican Public Republic, where I have her
- 17:01Speaker 1: on the phone and we und discuss that in this
- 17:03Speaker 1: break a turn to Lynch. The floor is yours.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Well, thank you again for the opportunity to speak to
- 17:09Speaker 4: your audiences. Because when I want to do more than
- 17:11Speaker 4: anything is inspire ourselves get out of our own way. Okay,
- 17:15Speaker 4: many people say I've been taught buy your home, develop equity,
- 17:21Speaker 4: pay it off right. That is just not a good
- 17:24Speaker 4: financial strategy when you're talking about you know, you have
- 17:27Speaker 4: a million, two hundred, especially in this market, thousands of
- 17:30Speaker 4: dollars in your home. But you then when you need money,
- 17:33Speaker 4: you leverage commercial debt where interest rates are higher, et cetera. Certainly,
- 17:37Speaker 4: don't overprice yourself. Get get there. There is a way
- 17:40Speaker 4: to attach equity that you have in your home, and
- 17:44Speaker 4: oh so many other ways where you say, well, look
- 17:45Speaker 4: I just got a home. I don't have the ability
- 17:47Speaker 4: to buy abroad and do all this, but you do
- 17:50Speaker 4: because you have the ability.
- 17:51Speaker 9: One.
- 17:52Speaker 4: You may have equity in your home. You may have
- 17:54Speaker 4: assets that are underperforming in the stock market. You may
- 17:57Speaker 4: have a family or people say family are off, but
- 18:00Speaker 4: we all have familys. We have families. We can get
- 18:02Speaker 4: together to take a trip or spend ten thousand dollars
- 18:04Speaker 4: in Marths Vinyard, or to get together to get a
- 18:07Speaker 4: boy's trip, but we don't have ten thousand dollars to
- 18:10Speaker 4: pool together to collectively purchase our locks. Initially started at
- 18:14Speaker 4: fifty thousand, they're now one hundred and seventy thousand and
- 18:17Speaker 4: a half acre. If someone had gotten in there, they
- 18:19Speaker 4: could have taken he and his boys and gotten a
- 18:22Speaker 4: lot and then have an opportunity to either flip that
- 18:25Speaker 4: at some point and make appreciate well above what the
- 18:28Speaker 4: market's doing, or to hold and have an opportunity to
- 18:30Speaker 4: build and build a short term rental income where if
- 18:33Speaker 4: you're talking about a short term airbnb is the binnacular
- 18:38Speaker 4: term for it, but it's short term rental. If you
- 18:40Speaker 4: have that in downtown Atlanta or in some places, yes
- 18:43Speaker 4: you make one hundred dollars a night. But what happens
- 18:45Speaker 4: if you have that same property in the Dominican Republic Insamana,
- 18:50Speaker 4: which is known for it being the Martians Vineyard of
- 18:53Speaker 4: the dr this area that's we preserved and reserved for
- 18:56Speaker 4: us lad with beautiful waterfalls and beaches and various other thing.
- 19:00Speaker 4: What how much you think you can get that for?
- 19:02Speaker 4: And then when you see a resort that has an
- 19:04Speaker 4: eighteen hole golf course that has an opportunity to have
- 19:07Speaker 4: an amphitheat or sports facility all that. How much you
- 19:11Speaker 4: think you're going to get for that a month and
- 19:13Speaker 4: can I'm perhaps lease that out enough so that I
- 19:16Speaker 4: can be able to have it pay for itself, pull
- 19:18Speaker 4: out a week or two when I want a vacation
- 19:19Speaker 4: with my family, but still have it to create generational wealth.
- 19:23Speaker 4: That's the formula, because you can get in low enough
- 19:26Speaker 4: and we still have opportunities not only to buy, but
- 19:29Speaker 4: for investment opportunities. Because as you indicate it, yes, we've
- 19:32Speaker 4: taken down quite a bit of property on the contract
- 19:35Speaker 4: with and purchased various acres of land, but there's so
- 19:38Speaker 4: many other key parcels that with the right partnerships, we
- 19:42Speaker 4: can take down that whole region. And so what we
- 19:45Speaker 4: are doing is being purposeful. The land was originally settled
- 19:49Speaker 4: by emancipated Americans in eighteen twenty four that settled there.
- 19:52Speaker 4: The Dominican government has been very receptive of having us there,
- 19:56Speaker 4: and even those individuals that sold this to the land,
- 19:59Speaker 4: they said they were approached by other groups Canadians, are Europeans,
- 20:03Speaker 4: various other things, and they did not sell to them.
- 20:06Speaker 4: They said when they when my kind of parts sat
- 20:09Speaker 4: at the table, they said, we've been waiting for you,
- 20:11Speaker 4: and they wanted to sell to America. There is a
- 20:15Speaker 4: connection between that community. They're educated there many one of
- 20:19Speaker 4: them is a judge in King's County, New York and
- 20:22Speaker 4: where I'm from, and so those original descendants of this land,
- 20:27Speaker 4: so where they believe in education and so many other things.
- 20:30Speaker 4: We need to invest our dollars where they want our
- 20:32Speaker 4: dollars and where we can grow and build generation away.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You know, it's really important people hear this because it's
- 20:37Speaker 1: so difficult the not only just purchase landing in the
- 20:41Speaker 1: United States, but when you go to another country, it's
- 20:44Speaker 1: even more difficult. Can you walk through some of the
- 20:47Speaker 1: steps that you have to go through, the considered and
- 20:49Speaker 1: some of the paperwork, not to revealing the whole process,
- 20:52Speaker 1: but I just want people to wrap there. You know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know, you get you get angry upset when you
- 20:56Speaker 1: see this big, old, thick piece of clothes eyed paperwork
- 20:59Speaker 1: that you got to say, you just signing papers and
- 21:01Speaker 1: you know why you sign it, but you just try
- 21:03Speaker 1: to get that home. It had to be really mind
- 21:05Speaker 1: boggling to go into the Dominican Republic. And I'm pretty
- 21:08Speaker 1: sure your acres just kind of grew. You know, you
- 21:11Speaker 1: started this parcel and then another opportunity is being offered.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Did you start out nearly a thousand acres or you
- 21:17Speaker 1: started with a small amount and you start building.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Absolutely not. We originally had a kind of part that
- 21:23Speaker 4: had been building forty two condominiums. They still have those.
- 21:26Speaker 4: They've sold out half of that condominium complex. So they
- 21:29Speaker 4: originally started there. They introduced us to this particular expanded
- 21:34Speaker 4: land because our kind of parts wanted a golf course.
- 21:38Speaker 4: They said, look, we need a golf course, and it's
- 21:40Speaker 4: not a golf course over here. And because of that,
- 21:42Speaker 4: what you would instinctively say is, look, that's kind of
- 21:46Speaker 4: a reach, right, we just want these forty two condoms,
- 21:48Speaker 4: right righty. But what you have to do, you can't
- 21:52Speaker 4: talk yourself out of something, right because what God has
- 21:55Speaker 4: for you is for you. And what we were able
- 21:57Speaker 4: to do is leverage the relationships that we have. We
- 22:00Speaker 4: want to make sure you have appropriate legal counsel on
- 22:03Speaker 4: the ground. Don't start doing the underhand and I got
- 22:06Speaker 4: to pay play. That's not really has that's not how
- 22:08Speaker 4: it has to be done. Do it right. Make sure
- 22:11Speaker 4: you have permits. We have permits.
- 22:13Speaker 1: We didn't.
- 22:13Speaker 4: We certainly could have built quickly and sold without permits
- 22:17Speaker 4: and done our sold with before we even started building.
- 22:20Speaker 4: We didn't do that. We're doing it the right way.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Our American developers who are familiar with developing in the
- 22:26Speaker 4: US and some of my counter process are familiar with
- 22:28Speaker 4: developing throughout the world. But what we also did is
- 22:31Speaker 4: we leveraged the relationships of experts right because you know,
- 22:34Speaker 4: we got to bring back excellence because we as a
- 22:37Speaker 4: people expect that of ourselves. We're real skeptical of our
- 22:40Speaker 4: own unfortunately and regrettably, and that also gets in our way.
- 22:43Speaker 4: But that's another conversation. But what we did is we
- 22:46Speaker 4: leverage experts who have done it before, who have had
- 22:48Speaker 4: forty fifty years of resort development. In Lakala, Fiji, our
- 22:52Speaker 4: design team has developed Red Bull Island for the owner
- 22:56Speaker 4: of Red Bull. I mean they have five star properties
- 22:59Speaker 4: under the FLU. You get those people, you make sure
- 23:01Speaker 4: you get the right team. You make sure you have
- 23:03Speaker 4: appropriate legal counselor. For everything we had in DR we
- 23:06Speaker 4: had in the US. So if we had a tax
- 23:08Speaker 4: advisor in DR, we had a taxivisors or in the US,
- 23:11Speaker 4: we had a civil engineer in the DR we had
- 23:14Speaker 4: our civil induineers in the US, and then you have
- 23:17Speaker 4: them to match up with each other. Make sure the
- 23:20Speaker 4: standards are that of what we expect as Americans as
- 23:23Speaker 4: far as the build and you want, you make sure
- 23:26Speaker 4: that you have you don't rush you know the people.
- 23:30Speaker 4: That's the thing that I think benefited us, these people
- 23:32Speaker 4: who have have worked with us. I've been a lawyer
- 23:34Speaker 4: in Atlanta for thirty years. I've retired, Thank goodness. I've
- 23:38Speaker 4: retired because I got tired of tearing down things, mergers, acquisitions, families,
- 23:43Speaker 4: those sorts of things. And now I'm building. And so
- 23:45Speaker 4: this is the place that i can wrap my head
- 23:48Speaker 4: and my faith around because I'm building something that that
- 23:51Speaker 4: builds up families.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Somebody jumped on the line or like you gotta find
- 23:56Speaker 1: up here atterny lynch okay, And I want to just
- 23:59Speaker 1: point it out, this is an all black investment group
- 24:01Speaker 1: that's involved in this purchase.
- 24:03Speaker 6: Correct.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Yes, we're We're a bunch of developers that have actually
- 24:07Speaker 4: developed many properties like my my property, Downtown Atlanta, Signature
- 24:10Speaker 4: Atlanta that mix use communities coming out we're building here,
- 24:14Speaker 4: We're building there. We have we congratulations and la property.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yes, Diva, you're on the line here speaking to Rashan
- 24:22Speaker 1: mcdonand Money Making Conversation master Class, as well as the
- 24:25Speaker 1: turn Oh.
- 24:26Speaker 10: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes yes.
- 24:28Speaker 8: How are we doing? How are we doing?
- 24:29Speaker 10: Sub bless stub bless Wow. I'mlike super super excited. Rashaan,
- 24:35Speaker 10: thank you so much. I love your show. I've been
- 24:38Speaker 10: listening to you for about two years now. I've learned
- 24:42Speaker 10: so much from you and your guests. God bless you.
- 24:44Speaker 10: I appreciate you and doctor Lynch. Oh, miss lady, and
- 24:49Speaker 10: let me tell you this is Today has been a
- 24:53Speaker 10: day that I've been getting confirmation. First of all, I'm
- 24:56Speaker 10: gonna be bake investors. I am barely news, okay, keeping
- 25:01Speaker 10: it transparent. I'm new, but I've been dabbling over twenty years, Okay,
- 25:06Speaker 10: I look forward to twenty years and right now I
- 25:09Speaker 10: have my company and my business. My LLC is called
- 25:13Speaker 10: Breakthrough and Overflow, and I want to invest in and
- 25:19Speaker 10: develop homes bush group homes for group homes to get back.
- 25:24Speaker 10: I'm a veteran. I've been homeless. Oh no, I'm all
- 25:27Speaker 10: over the place. I'm sorry. But really what I would
- 25:31Speaker 10: like to do, I really would love to know as
- 25:36Speaker 10: a new investor in doing what you're doing. I actually
- 25:40Speaker 10: just invested in my first true investment property in Panama
- 25:45Speaker 10: and wherever I go going up kindam. I have a
- 25:47Speaker 10: beachfront condo. So like how you're saying, I used my home.
- 25:51Speaker 10: I bought my home in twenty twenty one and I
- 25:54Speaker 10: was able to use my equity with you know where
- 25:56Speaker 10: everything went up, use that equity to invest and get
- 25:59Speaker 10: my Los Angeles property. So that's been a lifelong dream.
- 26:03Speaker 10: And also you know it will be and bent and everything.
- 26:07Speaker 10: But I'm all about giving back. I'm all about giving back,
- 26:11Speaker 10: and so I really love the whole philosophy of what
- 26:14Speaker 10: you're doing, the whole concept of what you're doing. And
- 26:18Speaker 10: I really truly am looking for a mentor. And I
- 26:24Speaker 10: know that's a lot.
- 26:25Speaker 1: You know, there's a lot. You got fifty thousand projects now,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you know, you know, but but you get that a lot, correct,
- 26:35Speaker 1: You get that a lot of attorney.
- 26:40Speaker 4: Well, well let me say this. Let me say first,
- 26:42Speaker 4: thank you for your service. I'm a former Navy jack myself,
- 26:45Speaker 4: so I appreciate your service. I like the fact that
- 26:47Speaker 4: you understood that there was a better use for your
- 26:50Speaker 4: equity than sitting it in your home and leaving it there.
- 26:53Speaker 4: The interest rates that are associated with certainly the last
- 26:57Speaker 4: couple of years, with interest associated with your home equity
- 27:01Speaker 4: is far lower than commercial debt that you can get.
- 27:04Speaker 4: It's more accessible, but even with the increase in interest rates,
- 27:07Speaker 4: it still are far out pacing a lot of other
- 27:10Speaker 4: commercial debt, family offices, various other ways that you may
- 27:13Speaker 4: have to use to finance a second home or an
- 27:15Speaker 4: investment property. But one of the things I like is
- 27:19Speaker 4: you said you're new. But that's the beauty of it,
- 27:21Speaker 4: because what you're doing is you're listening to people like
- 27:24Speaker 4: money making conversations. You're investing in yourself when you're actually
- 27:29Speaker 4: learning the trade, right, So you're not just saying I'm
- 27:31Speaker 4: just gonna go out there. You got to learn the
- 27:33Speaker 4: business that you're in, be willing to educate yourself, being
- 27:35Speaker 4: willing to stop surround yours And the fact that you're
- 27:38Speaker 4: asking for a mentor tells me that you're willing to grow.
- 27:41Speaker 4: And that's what I needed at my time when I started,
- 27:44Speaker 4: and what you and all of us continue to need.
- 27:47Speaker 4: You want to surround yourself with people who use doing it,
- 27:50Speaker 4: and so you're in your mindset is excellent and that
- 27:53Speaker 4: there's nothing wrong with being new. It's only wrong when
- 27:56Speaker 4: you be new and you just rest in that. Oh
- 27:59Speaker 4: I'm new, so I'm gonna no learn be around people,
- 28:02Speaker 4: figure it out. You already made the first step by
- 28:05Speaker 4: accessing some of your capital and your home.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Okay, turn Lynch, how can it get in touch with you?
- 28:09Speaker 1: What is the website? Can you give that information? Because
- 28:12Speaker 1: I'm to be honest with you, I do a lot
- 28:14Speaker 1: of these interviews and your your tone, your your your cadence,
- 28:20Speaker 1: your honesty, your history, you want of these people? Just
- 28:23Speaker 1: google her, Just google her name. You'll see the credibility
- 28:26Speaker 1: of this conversation and the legitimacy of what we're trying
- 28:28Speaker 1: to do on Money Making Conversation Masterclass. How can we

- 28:33Speaker 1: the for the golf resort in the Dominican Republic?

- 30:08Speaker 3: Now, let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashaan McDonald's.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Welcome to Money Making Conversation Masterclass. I'm your host, Rashaan McDonald.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Our theme is there's no perfect time to start following
- 30:20Speaker 1: your dreams. I recognize that we all have different definitions
- 30:23Speaker 1: of success. For you and maybe the size of your
- 30:26Speaker 1: paycheck minds inspire you to accomplish your goals and live
- 30:30Speaker 1: your very best life. It's time to stop reading other
- 30:32Speaker 1: people's success stories and really when you think about it,
- 30:35Speaker 1: and start living your own. People always talk about their
- 30:38Speaker 1: purpose or gift. If you have a gift, leave with
- 30:41Speaker 1: your gift and don't let your friends, family, or core
- 30:43Speaker 1: worker stop you from planning or living your dreams. That's
- 30:46Speaker 1: the way life is. I always tell people, is about you,
- 30:49Speaker 1: not about what other people think of you. My guest
- 30:52Speaker 1: is legendary R and B singer Will Downey. He is
- 30:55Speaker 1: affectionately dubbed as the Prince of Sophisticated Soul. Where the
- 30:58Speaker 1: repertoire consisted of signature interpretations of R and B classic
- 31:01Speaker 1: like I Go Crazy, Wishing on the Star, stop looking, listen,
- 31:05Speaker 1: and I tried with original hits like a Million Ways
- 31:08Speaker 1: After the Night, Sorry, I Everything, I Wanted, My Lady
- 31:11Speaker 1: and the show stopping chart topping doet with Rachelle Farrell.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Nothing has ever felt like this. Here's a new release
- 31:17Speaker 1: song out Till We Meet Again. The song offers a
- 31:20Speaker 1: message of hope and understanding that resonate with anyone who
- 31:23Speaker 1: has faced mental health challenges. According to Will Downey, the
- 31:26Speaker 1: song was inspired when he lost his daughter to suicide
- 31:29Speaker 1: of January of this year. He is on the show
- 31:31Speaker 1: to discuss his career and the song Till We Meet
- 31:34Speaker 1: Again to alert you the mental health issues and suicide.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Please welcome the Money Making Conversation Masterclass. Will Downy.
- 31:41Speaker 5: How you doing, sir, bro was like, you know, when
- 31:46Speaker 5: I go out, that's the way I want it.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I want it just like that.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Well, you know, we thank you, thank you. My staff said, Rachelle,
- 31:52Speaker 1: you really wrote this on up today. I said, well,
- 31:55Speaker 1: I said, I sat down. You know when I think
- 31:58Speaker 1: about why you wanted to come on the show, and
- 31:59Speaker 1: then our relationship over the years, the interviews we've had,
- 32:03Speaker 1: and you know, I know you got to my pieces
- 32:06Speaker 1: doing this thing out there you on tour. How you
- 32:08Speaker 1: doing right now before we get into our interview.
- 32:11Speaker 6: You know what, I'm pretty good man for the most part.
- 32:13Speaker 5: You know, I have my moments based on everything that
- 32:16Speaker 5: you just said, the passing of my daughter in January.
- 32:19Speaker 5: So I can't say that everything is perfect. You know,
- 32:21Speaker 5: sometimes during the day a brother breaks down, you know
- 32:24Speaker 5: what I mean. I see a picture or a memory
- 32:28Speaker 5: or whatever it is, and it reminds me of you know,
- 32:31Speaker 5: of her. But you know, we keep going, and you know,
- 32:34Speaker 5: we try to spread the good word in spite of
- 32:36Speaker 5: and hopefully help other people up in definition of a song.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Well, you know that's your talent, your gift. My gift
- 32:43Speaker 1: is you know. I used to work at IBM, and
- 32:45Speaker 1: then I started making people laugh. I was a stand
- 32:47Speaker 1: up comedian, and then I became a writer on sitcoms
- 32:50Speaker 1: and that created a body of work that people can
- 32:53Speaker 1: turn on Netflix and see did you write that episode?
- 32:55Speaker 1: Did you write that about Sister and Sister Jamie Fox?
- 32:58Speaker 1: All these different shows, the Parkers, And you have a
- 33:01Speaker 1: body of work, and that body of work allows you
- 33:03Speaker 1: to see thousands of people walking in the street and
- 33:07Speaker 1: people just walk up to you. How does that affect you?
- 33:10Speaker 1: When people pick out certain songs to say how important
- 33:14Speaker 1: that music is to them.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Well, it's a great feeling, and you know, you feel
- 33:18Speaker 5: like you've had a sense of accomplishment. You know, that's
- 33:21Speaker 5: what every artist the goal is is to you know,
- 33:24Speaker 5: to make sure.
- 33:25Speaker 6: That the world reaches that the song.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Reaches the world, and that it affects the world in
- 33:29Speaker 5: some sort of a way.
- 33:31Speaker 6: So I hear that all the time.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Matter of fact, I was out to lunch yesterday with
- 33:34Speaker 5: my guitar player and we were sitting there this young
- 33:37Speaker 5: lady who was our waitress. That's what I call a lamas.
- 33:40Speaker 5: They have a specific term. I always say waitress. So
- 33:42Speaker 5: I even said it to her that way. I said, listen,
- 33:45Speaker 5: you know, what do you really want to do in life?
- 33:47Speaker 5: She says, well, you know, I want to be a singer.
- 33:49Speaker 5: I said, oh okay, And so the guitar playoffs with
- 33:53Speaker 5: he said, well do you know you're talking to And
- 33:55Speaker 5: then he said my name to her, and she, you know,
- 33:58Speaker 5: just like she lit up a little and I was
- 34:00Speaker 5: like a little bit too young for me, you know.
- 34:03Speaker 6: Honestly, like, how do you know who I am?
- 34:06Speaker 5: My mother loves you? And then she got a mother
- 34:08Speaker 5: on the telephone. Wow, yeah, Yeah, it was interesting man.
- 34:11Speaker 5: So all that to say, it was a great feeling
- 34:14Speaker 5: to know that it's still relevant that, you know, the
- 34:17Speaker 5: younger generation still appreciates what you do, or they appreciate
- 34:19Speaker 5: what you do, and the generation you came up with
- 34:22Speaker 5: they still appreciate what you do.
- 34:24Speaker 6: So it's a great feeling.
- 34:25Speaker 5: We know.
- 34:25Speaker 1: The interesting thing about music, how important it really is.
- 34:29Speaker 1: You know, let's let's be honest. It can lift you up,
- 34:32Speaker 1: it can motivate you, it can inspire you. And then
- 34:35Speaker 1: your song that you've written based on the death of
- 34:38Speaker 1: the suicide of your daughter, is it inspirational, motivational? What
- 34:42Speaker 1: is the sense of that particular song.
- 34:44Speaker 5: Well, it's supposed to be all of that, but it's
- 34:47Speaker 5: almost when it was written, it was almost like a
- 34:49Speaker 5: conversation that I've had with her more times than I
- 34:53Speaker 5: can count, right, So the first couple of lines on
- 34:56Speaker 5: the song is can you tell me what the hell
- 34:59Speaker 5: was on your mind?
- 35:00Speaker 6: Right?
- 35:00Speaker 1: I heard you say that.
- 35:01Speaker 5: I went, WHOA, okay, right, yeah, because when I last
- 35:04Speaker 5: spoke to you, yeah, you were doing fine. So I've
- 35:08Speaker 5: had that conversation with her and my all my children
- 35:11Speaker 5: have three of them more times than I can count.
- 35:15Speaker 5: You know, they do something and it's like, come on, man, really,
- 35:19Speaker 5: like like.
- 35:19Speaker 6: What were you thinking?
- 35:21Speaker 5: You know, last time I talked to you, you said you
- 35:22Speaker 5: weren't going to do this, and you told me you
- 35:24Speaker 5: were going to do this, whatever it might be. So
- 35:27Speaker 5: it's it's a conversation from a parent to a child.
- 35:31Speaker 5: But at the same time, when we've had our conversation off,
- 35:34Speaker 5: I said what I've had to say, and I kind
- 35:36Speaker 5: of open up my arms and go, I still love you.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Come on, come on, give me a hug. Don't do
- 35:41Speaker 5: that again. You know, let's think this out or let's
- 35:43Speaker 5: talk this over. So that's kind of what it is.
- 35:47Speaker 5: And unfortunately it's a conversation that we could no longer
- 35:50Speaker 5: have as two individuals, but it's still like, you know,
- 35:55Speaker 5: my my spiritual conversation, like what was going on with you?
- 35:58Speaker 5: All right, Okay, that moment's passed. I'm letting you know
- 36:02Speaker 5: it's okay. You're not alone. Someone's watching over you. I'm
- 36:06Speaker 5: always here. We can talk however, we can communicate, but
- 36:10Speaker 5: it's okay until we meet again. When we meet again,
- 36:14Speaker 5: we had this conversation, right, but until we meet again,
- 36:18Speaker 5: know that I love you. Thinking about you. God's got you,
- 36:21Speaker 5: He's holding on to you till.
- 36:22Speaker 6: I get to you.
- 36:23Speaker 1: We know the interesting part. And and thank you for that
- 36:26Speaker 1: statement of what it was all about. Cler I said,
- 36:29Speaker 1: you heard you say that. At the top, I went,
- 36:31Speaker 1: that's pretty strong. But then they got me to the
- 36:34Speaker 1: end because I think when I was listening to the
- 36:36Speaker 1: song Till We Meet Again, I'm talking to Will down
- 36:38Speaker 1: in R and B legend you know the whole approach
- 36:43Speaker 1: to how you feel. I thought that the line was
- 36:46Speaker 1: like the one line in the song that saying the
- 36:49Speaker 1: rest of the song that you like the the ultimate
- 36:53Speaker 1: frustration of why you didn't call me? Why didn't you
- 36:57Speaker 1: just back up the phone? Why all the day where
- 37:00Speaker 1: were you at mentally that you thought you could speak
- 37:03Speaker 1: to dad?
- 37:04Speaker 6: Right?
- 37:05Speaker 1: You spoke to Dad on so many things that was irrelevant,
- 37:08Speaker 1: so many things that was selling, so many things that
- 37:11Speaker 1: didn't matter just to you.
- 37:12Speaker 12: But I was there for you right right right, And
- 37:15Speaker 12: here's a day all you had to do was pick
- 37:17Speaker 12: up the telephone and we could have talked this through
- 37:21Speaker 12: because four or five days prior to that we.
- 37:23Speaker 5: Talked on the telephone, and then five was, you know,
- 37:26Speaker 5: five days prior to that, which was like New Year's Eve,
- 37:29Speaker 5: you know, even I left the message on the song
- 37:31Speaker 5: if you listen to the song, I left her voicemail
- 37:33Speaker 5: that she held me on the song. So eleven days
- 37:37Speaker 5: later she was dead. So it's like, wait a minute,
- 37:40Speaker 5: how did we get there? How do we get what happened? Like,
- 37:44Speaker 5: you know, talk, Why didn't you talk to me? Why
- 37:46Speaker 5: didn't you say something? Was it what were you going through?
- 37:49Speaker 5: Was it financial? Was it? Was it mental? Was it
- 37:52Speaker 5: someone messing with you?
- 37:54Speaker 6: Was it?
- 37:54Speaker 5: You know, like it just leads you down a rabbit
- 37:57Speaker 5: hole of the amount of question that you could come
- 38:01Speaker 5: up with as to why you did what you did
- 38:03Speaker 5: and how did you think that the ultimate solution was
- 38:07Speaker 5: to take your own life right?
- 38:09Speaker 1: And I just, you know, the whole thing about this interview.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I wanted to make sure that we got to talk
- 38:12Speaker 1: with you know, because you know your daughter, you know,
- 38:16Speaker 1: initiated this interview because of the tragic turns she took
- 38:19Speaker 1: with her life.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Taking care.
- 38:21Speaker 1: But it's really a bigger problem out there, especially in
- 38:24Speaker 1: our community, because when it's such denial about because you
- 38:28Speaker 1: mentioned that your daughter at the top of the song
- 38:31Speaker 1: the video I saw it talked about bipolar depression, and
- 38:35Speaker 1: some form of schizophrenia. You know, if you could tell
- 38:38Speaker 1: our audience what exactly all those type of symptoms are,
- 38:42Speaker 1: if you're familiar with it. I'm not trying to put
- 38:43Speaker 1: you on the spot, but you know, I've heard bipolar.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. I've heard depression of
- 38:48Speaker 1: some maybe I maybe even experienced some depression and really
- 38:52Speaker 1: didn't know understand what I was going through. And then
- 38:54Speaker 1: you have schizophrenia. Can you talk about those three forms
- 38:57Speaker 1: that your daughter dealt with that eventually led to her dad.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Well earlier on in her life, and she was thirty
- 39:04Speaker 5: one when she passed away. You know, we had noticed
- 39:07Speaker 5: certain things, Me and my ex wife had noticed certain
- 39:09Speaker 5: things that she was doing that very moody, unbelievably moody,
- 39:14Speaker 5: Like it would go from from zero to one hundred,
- 39:17Speaker 5: you know, like okay, we we're cool. We're cool, We're cool.
- 39:19Speaker 5: You say one word and then another person would come
- 39:21Speaker 5: out and it's like all right, okay, Well I attribute
- 39:24Speaker 5: that to growing things. I remember, you know, growing up,
- 39:28Speaker 5: and my parents would say something to me and I'd
- 39:30Speaker 5: be the same way, like, you know, I hate you
- 39:32Speaker 5: know what I mean, not to their faces. Well, in
- 39:35Speaker 5: the back of my mind, you don't understand. And so
- 39:39Speaker 5: I'm you know, we attributed that to growth. And as
- 39:42Speaker 5: the years went on, I remember going to my parents
- 39:45Speaker 5: and especially my dad and just kind of saying like,
- 39:48Speaker 5: you know, I'm seeing some stuff that I ain't really
- 39:50Speaker 5: comfortable with, and you know, my father hit me with
- 39:53Speaker 5: you know, like, hey, when you were that age, you
- 39:55Speaker 5: were kind of the same way. Then the years went on,
- 39:58Speaker 5: I said it again to him, and he was like,
- 40:00Speaker 5: you know what, you need to take her down home.
- 40:02Speaker 5: Down home was North Carolina, that's where you know my
- 40:04Speaker 5: parents are from. Let let him run around in the
- 40:07Speaker 5: fields and get some polygreens in them and.
- 40:11Speaker 6: Need some ice staters.
- 40:16Speaker 5: I don't know if that's a solution, but I and
- 40:19Speaker 5: then she got older, and then you know, he kind
- 40:22Speaker 5: of saw some stuff and it was like, all right, now,
- 40:24Speaker 5: what are you gonna do about this?
- 40:25Speaker 6: I'm like, what am I gonna do?
- 40:26Speaker 5: I told you, I said, I bought this up to
- 40:28Speaker 5: you seven eight years ago. You told me let him
- 40:31Speaker 5: run around in the field.
- 40:32Speaker 6: So and so.
- 40:34Speaker 5: She she got professional help in that regard and found
- 40:37Speaker 5: out that the bipolar aspect of it is more of
- 40:40Speaker 5: internal uh, imbalance, you know. So there was an bounced right,
- 40:48Speaker 5: and she was diagnosed with medicine. Was diagnosed, she was
- 40:51Speaker 5: given medicine, but she hated the way the medicine made
- 40:54Speaker 5: a feel and made her feel lethargic and tired and
- 40:57Speaker 5: made it feel like she wasn't in control of herself.
- 40:59Speaker 5: So she would stop taking the medicine. So then she
- 41:02Speaker 5: started kind of like self medicating. You know, she started
- 41:05Speaker 5: drinking a little bit, you know, I started smoking a
- 41:07Speaker 5: little something something to make her feel better. And that
- 41:10Speaker 5: wasn't the answer either. So that's the bipolar aspect of it.
- 41:15Speaker 5: The schizophrenia part, and that was a very small part
- 41:19Speaker 5: of it. Was kind of seeing and hearing things that
- 41:23Speaker 5: wasn't necessarily true, right, you know, kind of like oh, yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 5: you know this is woman. She looked at me and
- 41:30Speaker 5: you know, she called me in my you know, in
- 41:32Speaker 5: her mind, it was like, yeah, she looked at me
- 41:34Speaker 5: a particular way, she said at particular thing to her
- 41:38Speaker 5: or something like that, or she felt a particular way
- 41:40Speaker 5: about if someone was trying to help us, like you
- 41:43Speaker 5: ain't really trying to help me. I know what you're
- 41:45Speaker 5: up too, I know what it is. So it was
- 41:48Speaker 5: a lot of that as well, and you know, some
- 41:50Speaker 5: of it was aimed directly at me and her mother
- 41:53Speaker 5: as well.
- 41:54Speaker 6: So you know, we had some some instances that were just.
- 41:57Speaker 5: Kind of like, you know, whoa whoa, whoa wha, how
- 42:00Speaker 5: get here? Like, No, that's not the case at all,
- 42:02Speaker 5: And then you know, you'd have to like talk her
- 42:04Speaker 5: down or something like that. Not that it was going
- 42:06Speaker 5: to be a physical confrontation or anything like that, but
- 42:09Speaker 5: it was certainly like, you know, just like you could
- 42:11Speaker 5: just physically see her amped up. It's like, hey, no,
- 42:15Speaker 5: that that wasn't the case. What I meant was we
- 42:17Speaker 5: want to this is what we like to do. And
- 42:19Speaker 5: then it was kind of like, oh, okay, all right, okay,
- 42:23Speaker 5: you know, because I thought that you were and so
- 42:25Speaker 5: it was it was. It was a lot of that
- 42:26Speaker 5: as well. So those are the two aspects.
- 42:31Speaker 7: You are now tuned into the money making Conversations. Minute
- 42:35Speaker 7: of Inspiration with Rashawn McDonald.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Despite being known for loud, bombastic comments and his trademark
- 42:40Speaker 1: propensity to debate, a much softer side of Stevin A.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Smith is revealed when discussing the inspiration for his success.
- 42:47Speaker 13: The final product is for the fans I'm about the work,
- 42:50Speaker 13: the process, the.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Grind, the day in and day out, meticulous, tedious work
- 42:56Speaker 2: that you have to put in to perfect your craft.
- 42:58Speaker 13: And the reason why that residd with me so profoundly
- 43:01Speaker 13: Withshaan is because that's what I attached to all my work.
- 43:04Speaker 13: Everybody right now is celebrating stephen A's World coming on
- 43:07Speaker 13: ESPN Plus, or they're talking about my sports and it
- 43:10Speaker 13: was stephen A Smith.
- 43:11Speaker 6: The NBA Show.
- 43:11Speaker 9: They would first take all I think about it is
- 43:14Speaker 9: going day to day and making sure that I do
- 43:16Speaker 9: everything that I can to deliver to the audience what
- 43:19Speaker 9: their expectations are of me and to exceed those expectations.
- 43:22Speaker 1: If you want to hear this full interview with stephen A. Smith,
- 43:25Speaker 1: visit Money Making Conversation dot com. Keep Winning Now, I
- 43:31Speaker 1: want to talk about it because you mentioned depression, because
- 43:33Speaker 1: I want to look at that because I'm in one
- 43:35Speaker 1: of those high stress worlds when I say that, because
- 43:39Speaker 1: sometimes I think music helps me. I think I watch
- 43:43Speaker 1: TV a lot. You know, I'm always keeping my mind active,
- 43:46Speaker 1: so I won't just stay on the subject that because
- 43:49Speaker 1: you know, in entertainments, like you know, it is one
- 43:52Speaker 1: of the most emotionally up and down businesses you have.
- 43:56Speaker 1: You know, you can have a concert. There was a
- 43:58Speaker 1: soul lot of this concert half Field. You know, you
- 44:00Speaker 1: can have a hit song in the next five years,
- 44:03Speaker 1: maybe not another hit song, and then people start questioning you.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I'm just talking about myself too. On shows, you get
- 44:08Speaker 1: on the show, you think that show going to be
- 44:10Speaker 1: on for a year. They canceled, leftter three months. That's
- 44:13Speaker 1: what happened when I was on our Senior Hall sitcom.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I thought, this is our senior Hall. We're gonna be
- 44:17Speaker 1: working for five years. Three months later they pulled the plug.
- 44:20Speaker 1: And so you know, so you went from this big
- 44:22Speaker 1: high to this major low. And that's what depression can
- 44:26Speaker 1: really trap you. And so you mentioned that. Can we
- 44:29Speaker 1: talk a little bit about that.
- 44:31Speaker 6: Well, you know, all the things that you just said
- 44:34Speaker 6: apply to a lot of people in entertainment, sports, and
- 44:38Speaker 6: life in general. You know what I mean. There's always
- 44:41Speaker 6: like this, this this.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Picture in your mind that you have and it may
- 44:45Speaker 5: not necessarily turn out to be that, and so you
- 44:48Speaker 5: start to look at that as being you know, somewhat
- 44:50Speaker 5: of a failure.
- 44:51Speaker 6: I think, you know, one of.
- 44:52Speaker 5: The best answers I heard even recently was from Giannis.
- 44:55Speaker 5: You know when reporter right, when a reporter asked, hey,
- 45:00Speaker 5: are you are you defining your career by this loss?
- 45:03Speaker 5: Or or or was the year or loss was it?
- 45:06Speaker 5: And then he kind of gave this amazing definition of
- 45:09Speaker 5: you know, what success is or what a failure is
- 45:13Speaker 5: or what a failure is not you know. So, you know,
- 45:16Speaker 5: I think we all go through stuff like that, just
- 45:19Speaker 5: like you.
- 45:20Speaker 6: You know, I'm an entertainer.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Every time I record something, I believe it's going to
- 45:24Speaker 5: be you know, top shelf. I believe I'm going to
- 45:27Speaker 5: be nominated for a Grammy. I believe all these things.
- 45:30Speaker 5: And then you know, most times it doesn't come to past.
- 45:34Speaker 5: And then so it kind of brings you down, and
- 45:35Speaker 5: you know, you question your own ability, You question whether
- 45:38Speaker 5: you're even relevant, you know, to to society in any way,
- 45:41Speaker 5: shape or form. So we all go through that, and
- 45:44Speaker 5: you know, and for her, she's no difference. She's thirty
- 45:46Speaker 5: one years old. The Internet pretty much rules everything, thank you.
- 45:51Speaker 1: So that was my next question, continue will That was
- 45:55Speaker 1: my next question that social media is really an issue now?
- 45:59Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I mean, if you don't get excellunt of likes,
- 46:01Speaker 5: this gives everyone a false sense of everything like how
- 46:04Speaker 5: many friends you have or anything like that. So there's
- 46:09Speaker 5: no there's there's not as much human contact as they
- 46:14Speaker 5: used to be to even find out whether someone is
- 46:16Speaker 5: genuine and or not genuine. Everything is just keeping up,
- 46:20Speaker 5: and you're always reinventing yourself, especially these days. Every freaking
- 46:24Speaker 5: week you got to be somebody new. You got to
- 46:26Speaker 5: post something or stay relevant, like let people know you're
- 46:29Speaker 5: still alive. You're doing something that's relevant and it's interesting
- 46:33Speaker 5: and this, that and the other. So you know she
- 46:35Speaker 5: was caught up in that as well.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Yeah, because you so she did artwork, right, she had
- 46:39Speaker 1: that was a skill set, right, So I'm sure posting
- 46:41Speaker 1: had a lot to do with people reacting with likes
- 46:45Speaker 1: and things like that tell us about her her skill,
- 46:47Speaker 1: her talent.
- 46:48Speaker 6: Well, she was a phenomenon. She was phenomenal everything she touched.
- 46:51Speaker 5: She was also an esthetician, so you know, but but
- 46:54Speaker 5: when things didn't really like rise to you know that
- 46:58Speaker 5: certain levels, like well I got to do something new,
- 47:00Speaker 5: all right, so I'm doing art now. You know, she's
- 47:02Speaker 5: always done art, and so she would do that. And
- 47:05Speaker 5: you know, art is subjective. You know, what one person's
- 47:08Speaker 5: trash is another person's treasure. So you know, I always
- 47:13Speaker 5: kind of encouraged her in that regard. It's like I'm
- 47:15Speaker 5: not bringing enough money. It's like, you know, life is
- 47:18Speaker 5: a balance, you know, do something enjoyable, enjoy yourself at
- 47:21Speaker 5: the same time while making some money.
- 47:23Speaker 6: You're gonna be okay. But I got to keep up.
- 47:25Speaker 6: I got to keep up.
- 47:26Speaker 5: I got to keep up. So you know that that
- 47:27Speaker 5: played a huge role in it. But you know, a
- 47:29Speaker 5: really great artist.
- 47:31Speaker 6: Uh.
- 47:31Speaker 5: The artwork that we used on the cover of the
- 47:33Speaker 5: single is something that she had painted. Uh, she had
- 47:36Speaker 5: and it's a it's a fairly large piece as well.
- 47:38Speaker 5: So I have it hanging in my home and I've
- 47:40Speaker 5: distributed some of her other artwork to family members, so
- 47:43Speaker 5: they think that they can have her in their household
- 47:45Speaker 5: and thinking for all the time.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Right, you know, Till with Me Again is the song
- 47:49Speaker 1: that he's talking about that unfortunately is tied to the
- 47:51Speaker 1: suicide of his daughter. How can we gain access to

- 48:34Speaker 1: I got the Prince Sophisticated. They're gonna have a problem
- 48:38Speaker 1: right there.
- 48:39Speaker 5: Sophisticated what f you know? S O F I s
- 48:46Speaker 5: T fist No, no, no, not no, you know, you know,
- 48:51Speaker 5: as it.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Was something I want to move back in your conversation
- 48:54Speaker 1: because as the black community, I want to stay on
- 48:56Speaker 1: that a little bit, because that's the reason we're here,
- 48:59Speaker 1: because of the fact it's about education and motivating because
- 49:02Speaker 1: as you said, our parents and our grandparents, how they
- 49:06Speaker 1: handled these signs, these warning signs of things like that,
- 49:11Speaker 1: it's really really my computers on mute, huh, mute, my computer,
- 49:20Speaker 1: what's going on? Oh that, don't worry about that.
- 49:27Speaker 6: Cool.
- 49:28Speaker 1: They were worried about my computer was dinging. At the
- 49:31Speaker 1: same I thought, I was, hey, we did this whole
- 49:33Speaker 1: interview mute problem. I'll be taking to people at this room.
- 49:38Speaker 1: You're gonna do some old school flogging around there. No,
- 49:42Speaker 1: they were just talking about my computer was dinging in
- 49:44Speaker 1: the back. Only you and they heard you and I
- 49:47Speaker 1: we did in not conversation. But but I wanted to
- 49:50Speaker 1: talk about as we talk about our parents, because I
- 49:53Speaker 1: come from field Ford, Texas, six sisters, two brothers, and
- 49:56Speaker 1: I remember my parents and you know we're born. I
- 49:58Speaker 1: was born in Houston, Texas, from Freeport Louis Apple. So
- 50:01Speaker 1: we go back into the country, outhouses and all that stuff.
- 50:05Speaker 1: And as I said, you know, we didn't even want
- 50:07Speaker 1: to acknowledge the gay community in the black community, okay,
- 50:13Speaker 1: because we didn't know what that was. Uncle was like
- 50:16Speaker 1: this and like that, Uncle dressed that way. But we
- 50:19Speaker 1: just just hushed it right up. And then you come
- 50:21Speaker 1: back to this major turn of events, the mental structure
- 50:25Speaker 1: of the black community, because we're always getting beat up.
- 50:28Speaker 1: A lot of people need to understand about the black
- 50:29Speaker 1: community racism. So we can ever show weakness. We always
- 50:33Speaker 1: the last higher, the first fire. So a lot of
- 50:36Speaker 1: those things will come into play. When we're willing to
- 50:39Speaker 1: say show vulnerability and to say that you are mentally
- 50:43Speaker 1: quote unquote unstable, That gets you out the door real fast.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Do you think that plays a role as well?
- 50:50Speaker 6: Well, definitely.
- 50:50Speaker 5: I mean, as you just said, it's something that we
- 50:53Speaker 5: as a community do not talk about openly. You know,
- 50:57Speaker 5: there's a sense of shame attached to it. And you
- 51:00Speaker 5: pretty much hit like the top too.
- 51:02Speaker 6: You know.
- 51:03Speaker 5: The sexuality is one thing, and you know, mental illness
- 51:07Speaker 5: is sort of like we have this picture in our
- 51:09Speaker 5: mind that you know, people think that you're crazy because
- 51:13Speaker 5: you talk to someone about what's going on with you
- 51:16Speaker 5: internally in your mind or how you feel a particular way,
- 51:19Speaker 5: especially these days when we're in a very uncaring society.
- 51:23Speaker 5: You know, we hold everything in and then when you
- 51:26Speaker 5: do burst, it's like, you know, how do we get this?
- 51:28Speaker 5: It's like, well, this person never had the pleasure of
- 51:32Speaker 5: talking with someone and releasing it and getting a different
- 51:35Speaker 5: perspective on what's going on in your life. You're not
- 51:38Speaker 5: being judged. This person is there for you to listen
- 51:41Speaker 5: to or to listen to you and to maybe kind
- 51:45Speaker 5: of give you like a different perspective as to how
- 51:48Speaker 5: they see it. So, you know, a lot of times
- 51:50Speaker 5: we sort of look at that. We have this vision
- 51:52Speaker 5: in our mind of a couch and you know, you're
- 51:54Speaker 5: sitting there and someone's in this white jacket then writing
- 51:57Speaker 5: down all of this stuff, you know, and they and
- 52:00Speaker 5: your build and give you a couple of bills and
- 52:01Speaker 5: pick out the door. They say, you know, we ain't
- 52:03Speaker 5: gonna talk about this, right, you'ren't tell nobody I was here.
- 52:06Speaker 6: So you know, that's the picture that I have in
- 52:09Speaker 6: my mind.
- 52:10Speaker 5: And to those who I've spoken to about this sort
- 52:12Speaker 5: of thing, that's the vision that.
- 52:13Speaker 6: They have as well.
- 52:15Speaker 5: And you know, we're very apprehensive about talking about it.
- 52:17Speaker 5: So you know, we have to do better as a society.
- 52:20Speaker 1: We definitely have to well, you know, black people prostate
- 52:23Speaker 1: cancer don't want to do that, you know what I'm saying,
- 52:26Speaker 1: and tell us what that's what we need to do.
- 52:28Speaker 1: You know, mental health, mental care don't want to do that. Well,
- 52:31Speaker 1: don't acknowledge our sexuality within our community because you know,
- 52:36Speaker 1: and I'm not pointing no finger, but guess what. We
- 52:39Speaker 1: live in a racist country, ladies and gentlemen, A country
- 52:42Speaker 1: that enslaved us don't want to acknowledge the fact that
- 52:45Speaker 1: they did in slavers. In fact, they want to take
- 52:46Speaker 1: that out of books. They want to take all that
- 52:48Speaker 1: out of the book. They just want to go, we freed, y'all,
- 52:51Speaker 1: and just skip everything else.
- 52:53Speaker 5: Well, either that or the fact that it happened so
- 52:55Speaker 5: long ago. Were still talking about this that so long agoing,
- 52:58Speaker 5: Like what.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, if we don't talk about it, and then it
- 53:03Speaker 1: would happen again. Like you said, it's hard to repeat history.
- 53:07Speaker 1: When you can see it happening again, right, then you
- 53:10Speaker 1: can stop it. Okay, But if you don't know your history,
- 53:12Speaker 1: you know what a sudden you can be stunned and
- 53:14Speaker 1: say I didn't see they coming. And so when I
- 53:17Speaker 1: think about your career and I think about the longevity,
- 53:20Speaker 1: as we wrapped up this interview, well and thank you
- 53:22Speaker 1: again for coming on my show. You know it's really true.
- 53:27Speaker 1: I remember I started doing stand up I left my
- 53:29Speaker 1: job at eighty six to do stand up comedy, and
- 53:31Speaker 1: you know, I didn't see the future. You know, you're
- 53:33Speaker 1: just out there performing. You know, the ninety two I
- 53:36Speaker 1: did death comedy Jam and I started writing those sitcoms.
- 53:40Speaker 1: And it's that longevity conversation I'm happening with you. It's
- 53:43Speaker 1: like it's like you look at your success and that's
- 53:48Speaker 1: where the worry, fear comes in, fear of can I
- 53:51Speaker 1: keep it going? Fear? As we wrapped this interview up
- 53:55Speaker 1: and talk about your success, how you've overcome fear, how
- 53:59Speaker 1: you overcome doubt. Because when we're young, there's no fear.
- 54:04Speaker 1: We're just out there. But as you have success, sometimes
- 54:07Speaker 1: success can work against you, right because can I do
- 54:11Speaker 1: it again? Will I be able to do it again?
- 54:14Speaker 1: Will I be able to sell out this show? Will
- 54:16Speaker 1: people know who I am next year or five years
- 54:19Speaker 1: from that? Mentally as an artist, can you talk to
- 54:22Speaker 1: my autists, talk to my fans about that?
- 54:24Speaker 5: Well? I always say when I hear stuff like that,
- 54:27Speaker 5: you know, chasing success is has killed the best of
- 54:32Speaker 5: who we've had musically. You know, So when you look
- 54:37Speaker 5: at Michael Jackson's, when you look at Prince, when you
- 54:40Speaker 5: look at your Whitney Houston's people like that, you know
- 54:45Speaker 5: they all passed away chasing success. In my opinion, you know,
- 54:50Speaker 5: Michael bleached, the skin changed, physically changed its features, would
- 54:55Speaker 5: stay up constantly just to kind of keep up. You
- 54:58Speaker 5: know what I mean, so it's kind of like, Okay,
- 55:00Speaker 5: I've been to the mountaintop. I know what it looks like,
- 55:03Speaker 5: and someone else is coming up, but they're not as
- 55:06Speaker 5: good as I am. So you know, what do I
- 55:08Speaker 5: have to do to keep up?
- 55:09Speaker 6: Well?
- 55:10Speaker 5: Okay, stay up, Okay, Well I'm tired.
- 55:11Speaker 6: Okay, well I.
- 55:12Speaker 5: Need to get some rest, all right, And then he
- 55:14Speaker 5: started taking the profofall which gave him the best rest
- 55:17Speaker 5: he ever had. And you know, the doctor dropped the ball.
- 55:21Speaker 5: I forgot to wake him up. I gave him too
- 55:22Speaker 5: much or whatever however that went down. But it was
- 55:25Speaker 5: all chasing success. Whitney Houston same way.
- 55:28Speaker 6: You know.
- 55:28Speaker 5: I'm up, up, up, up up. Oh this girl can
- 55:30Speaker 5: sing better than me. What do I have to do?
- 55:31Speaker 5: I got it and then started doing whatever she was doing. Prince,
- 55:35Speaker 5: you know, was physically hurt, you know, with his hip.
- 55:38Speaker 5: It's like, oh man, you know you're hurt like I.
- 55:41Speaker 6: Mean, but I can keep going.
- 55:42Speaker 5: I can keep going, and you know, then you know
- 55:45Speaker 5: his unfortunate demise. So I think that what people have
- 55:48Speaker 5: to realize. And it hit me on top of the
- 55:51Speaker 5: head as well when I got sick and started realizing
- 55:54Speaker 5: when I had all that time off to myself that
- 55:57Speaker 5: this is just one aspect of who we are as
- 56:00Speaker 5: entertainer or you know, who I am, you know, and
- 56:03Speaker 5: being an entertainer is just a small aspect of that.
- 56:05Speaker 5: So you have to live your life, have a balance life.
- 56:08Speaker 5: There's nothing more important than that. To be honest with
- 56:11Speaker 5: your success is one thing. And if you gain a
- 56:13Speaker 5: whole lot of it, where you're gonna go after a while.
- 56:16Speaker 5: You know, if you can't go out and be seen
- 56:17Speaker 5: in society, what's the point of being successful If you
- 56:20Speaker 5: can't enjoy what with your friends and you can't go out,
- 56:24Speaker 5: can't go to the mall, can't go to the movies,
- 56:25Speaker 5: can't can't do anything. You know, you are gonna do
- 56:28Speaker 5: it with people that are like you. You know, they
- 56:31Speaker 5: don't even know you. So, you know, just be careful,
- 56:34Speaker 5: just have a balance life. And what's for you, what's
- 56:37Speaker 5: meant for you?
- 56:37Speaker 6: You again?
- 56:38Speaker 1: Can we meet again?
- 56:39Speaker 6: That's the sime we meet again?
- 56:41Speaker 1: Can we meet again?
- 56:42Speaker 6: You know?
- 56:42Speaker 1: So as to a proposse, you know, because we're gonna
- 56:46Speaker 1: meet again, We're gonna talk, We're gonna smile, we're gonna
- 56:48Speaker 1: share stories about Because I have a daughter, she's twenty six.
- 56:51Speaker 1: So this is a very personal conversation and just to
- 56:54Speaker 1: share you our thought what she calls I stopped talking
- 56:58Speaker 1: to everybody to talk there you go, because I don't know.
- 57:00Speaker 1: So when it happened to your daughter, it magnified my
- 57:03Speaker 1: attention to her that you know, she called me at
- 57:07Speaker 1: ten and I apologized and I didn't see the call,
- 57:10Speaker 1: you know, because she called me for a reason, whether
- 57:12Speaker 1: it's just saying she loves me or just to share
- 57:15Speaker 1: a personal story. Because again she's out there by herself.
- 57:18Speaker 1: She's out there working remote and all these life has
- 57:22Speaker 1: changed so much how people live, you know, they don't
- 57:25Speaker 1: have to go into work, they'll have to interact and
- 57:28Speaker 1: gives you more time to think what time to go online?
- 57:30Speaker 1: Like you said, the internet, the social media. But as
- 57:33Speaker 1: we close deal with meet again, how can my fan
- 57:35Speaker 1: base participate be a partner to support you in getting.
