- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood. Last month, the band formally known as
- 0:03Speaker 1: Lady Antebellum decided to officially change their name to their
- 0:06Speaker 1: long used nickname Lady A after they learned that the
- 0:09Speaker 1: word antebellum had ties to slavery, but they weren't aware
- 0:13Speaker 1: at the time that Blues singer Anita White went by
- 0:16Speaker 1: the name Lady A, and after it seemed both parties
- 0:19Speaker 1: were going to iron it out so they could both
- 0:22Speaker 1: use the name, things have now soured and the band
- 0:26Speaker 1: has filed a lawsuit. Fans have long used the name
- 0:29Speaker 1: Lady A. The band actually filed for a copyright on
- 0:32Speaker 1: the title back in two eleven and received it, but
- 0:35Speaker 1: the singer Lady A says she's been using the name
- 0:37Speaker 1: for two decades. The group says once they started discussions
- 0:41Speaker 1: with her, she insisted on ten million dollars, which they
- 0:44Speaker 1: refused to pay. She says it's a name she spent
- 0:47Speaker 1: two decades working to build on and feels that the
- 0:50Speaker 1: band is trying to ease her. Hopefully both Lady Aids
- 0:54Speaker 1: can find a way to coexist together. That's Direct from Hollywood.
