Latest / Life For Toledo / Sharing the Gospel is Necessary Romans 10

- 0:00I'm thinking today of Romans chapter 10. It's
- 0:02a unique message for an important time of year.
- 0:05In Romans chapter 10, Paul is talking about getting
- 0:07out the gospel. How then are they to call on
- 0:10him in whom they have not believed? That's verse
- 0:1214. Or how are they to believe in him whom they
- 0:15have not heard? And how are they to hear without
- 0:16a preacher? That's the rest of 14. And then down
- 0:19in verse 16, in the middle of a discussion about
- 0:22how the Word of God has to get out and how the
- 0:24Word of God will grow faith, there is this kind
- 0:27of excerpt. It says, however, they did not all
- 0:30heed the good news. For Isaiah says, quote, Lord,
- 0:34who has believed our report, unquote. The bottom
- 0:37line is this. Even if someone is sent, even if
- 0:39someone goes, not everyone will hear the gospel.
- 0:43Not everyone will respond positively to the message
- 0:46that God is willing to save souls. I remember
- 0:49in the story of Lazarus and the rich man, the
- 0:51rich man is begging the angel at the gate to
- 0:54send somebody back to his brothers to warn them.
- 0:57And he says, no. They have Moses and the prophets,
- 1:00and even if they saw somebody come back from
- 1:03the dead, even then they wouldn't listen. And
- 1:05that's exactly where we're living today. Jesus
- 1:08has come back from the dead, and believers have
- 1:10been born again and are now living on this earth
- 1:12and delivering the message about Jesus, and still
- 1:14there are those who will not believe. It does
- 1:16not lessen our obligation to share, but it reminds
- 1:18us that even this year, even this time, as we
- 1:21are celebrating the coming of Jesus, who is the
- 1:23most spectacular way that God declared his love
- 1:26and his salvation available to people. sometimes
- 1:28won't hear. Tell them anyway.
