Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest.
- 0:03Speaker 2: The new Gerard Butler action heist Den of Thieves Too
- 0:06Speaker 2: had a stellar opening weekend, and prepare for a spoiler
- 0:08Speaker 2: alert What's ahead? Kind of, It's only a spoiler if
- 0:11Speaker 2: you haven't seen the trailer or even the promotional material
- 0:13Speaker 2: for the film, because the marketing team chose to reveal
- 0:15Speaker 2: up front a big twist in this installment to our Butler,
- 0:17Speaker 2: who plays a cop, gets involved in the heist. It's
- 0:20Speaker 2: an interesting decision to reveal that much, and one that
- 0:22Speaker 2: writer director Christian guda Gas didn't entirely support. He tells
- 0:26Speaker 2: the Hollywood Report, the trailers are cut by the studio,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and I personally am a fan of teaser trailers that
- 0:31Speaker 2: don't give away plot details. But conventional wisdom is that
- 0:35Speaker 2: it helps market a film. You have to trust the
- 0:37Speaker 2: marketing team who knows what they're doing. My personal taste
- 0:40Speaker 2: is that I prefer teaser trailers that reveal less of
- 0:43Speaker 2: the plot. That's Den of Thieves two director Christian Gudagast,
- 0:46Speaker 2: who might have a point about letting the marketing team
- 0:48Speaker 2: do their job. His film debut number one over the weekend,
- 0:51Speaker 2: surprising experts by outperforming Mufasa, the Lion King.
- 0:54Speaker 1: That's direct from Hollywood.
