- 2:54Speaker 4: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Story number one, the long.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Government shut down in America's history finally over. The stop
- 3:06Speaker 4: gap funding measure keeps the government operating through January the
- 3:11Speaker 4: thirtieth while Congress works on a long term deal. Now,
- 3:16Speaker 4: let's be very clear, there's a very good chance come
- 3:19Speaker 4: January thirtieth, the Democrats could shut the government down yet again.
- 3:25Speaker 4: President Donald Trump signed the legislation to fund the government again,
- 3:29Speaker 4: putting an end to the longest shutdown in history. And
- 3:33Speaker 4: Democrats got nothing from doing this. The exact same deal
- 3:39Speaker 4: that was made in Washington to reopen the government was
- 3:43Speaker 4: on the table before the government even shut down. So
- 3:47Speaker 4: why did they hold Americans hostage, hurt so many Americans,
- 3:51Speaker 4: and make sure that Americans suffered, whether it was food
- 3:55Speaker 4: stamps or missing a paycheck because they wanted to hurt
- 3:58Speaker 4: Donald Trump, and they put politics ahead of the country. Now,
- 4:03Speaker 4: Trump signaled Monday the government would reopen soon. As consequence
- 4:08Speaker 4: of elapsing funding continued to snowball, including miss paychecks for
- 4:12Speaker 4: federal workers and airline delays stemming from air traffic controllers
- 4:17Speaker 4: staffing shortages. Some Democrats wanted this to actually move past
- 4:22Speaker 4: Thanksgiving to really hurt Americans because they believed you would
- 4:26Speaker 4: blame Donald Trump for it. Now, the bill keeps the
- 4:29Speaker 4: funding of the government at the same levels during the
- 4:33Speaker 4: fiscal year of twenty twenty five through January the thirtieth,
- 4:36Speaker 4: to provide additional time to hash out a longer appropriations
- 4:40Speaker 4: measure for the fiscal year twenty twenty six. Now, the
- 4:44Speaker 4: measure also funds a supplemental Nutrition assistant program known as
- 4:48Speaker 4: SNAP or food stamps, that more than forty two million
- 4:52Speaker 4: Americans rely on through September. Yes, that's far too many
- 4:56Speaker 4: Americans that are on food stamps, and we can talk
- 4:59Speaker 4: about that as well another day. But the main point
- 5:03Speaker 4: was this, Why hold families in need hostage? That's exactly
- 5:08Speaker 4: what the Democrats wanted to do by design. There were
- 5:12Speaker 4: multiple votes to just fund food stamps, and Democrats every
- 5:17Speaker 4: time voted no, while at the same time claiming that
- 5:21Speaker 4: Donald Trump is hurting poor people in America. Now, the
- 5:25Speaker 4: reopening of the government comes after more than forty days
- 5:28Speaker 4: of a lapse in funding aimed at a stallmate between
- 5:31Speaker 4: Senate Republicans and Democrats over the stop gap spending bill
- 5:36Speaker 4: that would have funded the government through November twenty one.
- 5:40Speaker 4: After a lapse in funding started on October one, The
- 5:43Speaker 4: Senate passed legislation Monday night that would reopen the government
- 5:46Speaker 4: by a sixty to forty vote, the exact bare minimum
- 5:49Speaker 4: number needed to reopen the government. A total of eight
- 5:53Speaker 4: Democrats voted alongside the Republican colleagues for the measure. The
- 5:58Speaker 4: House subsequently passed its version of measure on Wednesday, and
- 6:02Speaker 4: the deal came as fallout from the shutdown came to
- 6:05Speaker 4: a head, including, as I mentioned, massive travel disruptions at
- 6:09Speaker 4: US airports where the air traffic controllers and the TSA
- 6:12Speaker 4: officers were required to work and we're gearing up to
- 6:15Speaker 4: miss a second paycheck as a result, these staffers were
- 6:20Speaker 4: calling in sick, taking on second jobs, creating staffing shortages
- 6:25Speaker 4: and massive flight delays. Now, the standoff between Republicans and
- 6:29Speaker 4: Democrats all originate over a disagreement about Obamacare, and the
- 6:35Speaker 4: fact is Obamacare knows the Affordable Care Act is not
- 6:39Speaker 4: affordable at all, but healthcare providers health insurance. I should
- 6:44Speaker 4: say carriers are making billions off of Obamacare, and that's
- 6:50Speaker 4: one of the problems that conservatives wanted to talk about.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Now.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I also want you to hear what the President had
- 6:56Speaker 4: to say from the Oval Office as he was signing
- 6:59Speaker 4: this bill into law. Take a list of the presence
- 7:02Speaker 4: words carefully United.
- 7:04Speaker 1: States and an attempt to extort American taxpayers for hundreds
- 7:09Speaker 1: of billions of dollars for illegal aliens and people that
- 7:12Speaker 1: came into our country illegally from gangs, from prisons, from
- 7:17Speaker 1: mental institutions. They wanted to pay them one point five
- 7:20Speaker 1: trillion dollars, which would have really hurt our health care
- 7:25Speaker 1: businesses and our recipients at levels never seen before. Today,
- 7:30Speaker 1: we're sending a clear message that we will never give
- 7:33Speaker 1: in too extortion, because that's what it was they tried
- 7:36Speaker 1: to extort. The Democrats tried to extort our country. In
- 7:40Speaker 1: just a moment, I'll sign a bill exactly like we
- 7:43Speaker 1: asked Democrats to send us all along many days ago.
- 7:48Speaker 1: This cossed the country one point five trillion dollars. This
- 7:51Speaker 1: little excursion that they took us on. Republicans never wanted
- 7:56Speaker 1: a shut down and voted fifteen times for a clean
- 8:00Speaker 1: of funding. There's never been a time when one or
- 8:04Speaker 1: the other party ever didn't sign a continuation.
- 8:09Speaker 2: It's just a continuation, not a big deal. It's a
- 8:11Speaker 2: continuation of Will Paul later.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yet the extremists in the other party insisted on creating
- 8:18Speaker 1: the longest government shut down in American history, and they
- 8:21Speaker 1: did it purely for political reasons. I want to thank
- 8:24Speaker 1: Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate majority of Leader John Thune, as
- 8:28Speaker 1: well as House majority of Leader Sievescalise, Majority Whipped Tom Emmer,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and numerous other great Republican leaders and congressmen and senators
- 8:37Speaker 1: who are here frankly spent a long time in Washington
- 8:41Speaker 1: getting this thing to go away. I also want to
- 8:44Speaker 1: thank the broad coalition of Americans that stood with us
- 8:47Speaker 1: in this fight to reopen government, including the Teamsters, the
- 8:52Speaker 1: American Federation of Government Employees, the Fraternal Order of Police AMVETS,
- 8:57Speaker 1: the National Small Business Association, the American Farm Bureau of
- 9:02Speaker 1: the American Trucking Association.
- 9:04Speaker 2: These are all incredible patriots.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Airlines for America, the Allied Pilots Association, the National Air
- 9:11Speaker 1: Traffic Controllers Association.
- 9:13Speaker 2: And many others. Unions and non unions. Over the past.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Seven weeks, the Democrats shut down as inflicted massive harm.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They caused twenty thousand flights to be canceled or delayed.
- 9:25Speaker 1: They departed so many times so late, people were hurt
- 9:30Speaker 1: so badly.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Nobody's ever seen anything like this one.
- 9:34Speaker 1: This was a no brainer, This was an easy extension,
- 9:38Speaker 1: but they didn't want to do it the easy way.
- 9:40Speaker 2: They had to do it the hardware. They looked very
- 9:42Speaker 2: bad the Democrats do.
- 9:44Speaker 1: They deprived more than one million government workers from their
- 9:47Speaker 1: paychecks and cut off foodstaff benefits for millions and millions
- 9:51Speaker 1: more Americans than need. They caused tens of thousands of
- 9:55Speaker 1: federal contractors and small.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Businesses to go unpaid.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And the total effect of the damage their antics cause
- 10:02Speaker 1: will take weeks in probably months to really calculate accurately,
- 10:07Speaker 1: including the serious harm that they did to our economy
- 10:10Speaker 1: and to people and the families. So I just want
- 10:13Speaker 1: to tell the American people you should not forget this
- 10:16Speaker 1: when we come up to midterms and other things. Don't
- 10:19Speaker 1: forget what they've done to our country.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You also want.
- 10:21Speaker 1: To call for a termination to the filibuster so that
- 10:26Speaker 1: this can never happen again. If we had the philibuster terminated,
- 10:30Speaker 1: this would never happen again. And don't forget, we have
- 10:32Speaker 1: another date coming up in the not too distant future.
- 10:35Speaker 1: We can never let this happen again, and we should
- 10:38Speaker 1: be able to pass great, really great legislation.
- 10:41Speaker 2: So I say.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Terminate the filibuster, because, by the way, the Democrats will
- 10:46Speaker 1: do it immediately if they ever assumed office, which hopefully
- 10:50Speaker 1: they won't. Today we had the highest stock rocket price
- 10:54Speaker 1: ever in all of the different markets. We set a
- 10:58Speaker 1: record the forty eighth time in the nine months that.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I've been in office that we had this record set.
- 11:05Speaker 2: So think of that.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Forty eight times we had a record set. But today
- 11:10Speaker 1: is the highest of them all. We're going to break
- 11:12Speaker 1: new grounds. Nobody would have thought. I have with us
- 11:16Speaker 1: not only the great political leaders, but the great business
- 11:18Speaker 1: leaders of our country. They're standing right behind me and
- 11:21Speaker 1: right really alongside of me. And if we would have
- 11:24Speaker 1: told them a year ago that we'd be having stock
- 11:27Speaker 1: prices to side, none of them. In fact I just
- 11:29Speaker 1: asked them that question, none of them would have believed it.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And that anures to jobs and very importantly to four
- 11:36Speaker 1: oh one case, which have also set a record today,
- 11:39Speaker 1: a record high for the people that have four oh
- 11:41Speaker 1: one case.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And also I want to thank Walmart.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Because they came up with a fantastic study. It was
- 11:50Speaker 1: the cost of Thanksgiving coming up and the cost of
- 11:53Speaker 1: Thanksgiving from a year ago under Sleepy Joe Biden, and
- 11:57Speaker 1: with twenty five percent lower this year than we were
- 12:01Speaker 1: a year ago. And it's a very inclusive report. So
- 12:04Speaker 1: I want to thank Walmart. They've done it for many years,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but we believe in that and we believe in that company.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I want to.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Also thank the eighth Senate Democrats who finally did the
- 12:14Speaker 1: right thing in voting to end this craziness, this madness.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But unfortunately the vast majority of Congressional Democrats were happy
- 12:24Speaker 1: for millions of Americans to suffer. They really did suffer too,
- 12:28Speaker 1: and the Democrats admitted, they said, well, no, we finally
- 12:31Speaker 1: have a point. Even though people have to suffer, we
- 12:33Speaker 1: finally have a point. And that didn't work out too
- 12:35Speaker 1: well for them. But they really went out and they
- 12:39Speaker 1: could appease the fringe benefits.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Of their far left base.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But that didn't work out because now they're far left
- 12:46Speaker 1: base is angrier than ever before. We actually elected a
- 12:51Speaker 1: mayor of New York City who happens to be a communist.
- 12:54Speaker 2: When was that going to happen?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Remember, I said all the time during my campaign, we
- 12:59Speaker 1: will never be a socialist country, and that's right.
- 13:02Speaker 2: We turned out to have a communist in.
- 13:04Speaker 1: New York City and if you look at his views
- 13:07Speaker 1: are the views of a communist, not a socialist. So
- 13:11Speaker 1: this is no way to run a country. I hope
- 13:13Speaker 1: we can all agree that the government should never be
- 13:16Speaker 1: shut down again again, and the filibuster, terminate the filibuster.
- 13:20Speaker 2: It will never happen again.
- 13:22Speaker 1: So with my signature, the federal government will now resume
- 13:26Speaker 1: normal operations, and my administration and our partners in Congress
- 13:30Speaker 1: will continue our work to law in the cost of living,
- 13:34Speaker 1: restore public safety, grower economy, and make America affordable again
- 13:39Speaker 1: for all Americans again. Costs are way down, energy is
- 13:43Speaker 1: way down. Gasoline is at two dollars and fifty cents
- 13:47Speaker 1: a gallon versus four dollars and seventy cents for the Democrats,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and we think we're going to hit pretty close to two.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Dollars a gallon.
- 13:56Speaker 1: That's like a really massive tax cutcy equivalent of that,
- 14:00Speaker 1: and speaking of tax cuts, our great, big, beautiful bill
- 14:03Speaker 1: is giving everybody in our economy, middle income workers, low
- 14:08Speaker 1: income everybody, the biggest tax cut in the history of
- 14:12Speaker 1: our country. And there's no tax on tips, no tax
- 14:15Speaker 1: on Social Security, and very importantly, no tax on overtime.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You work overtime, there's no tax.
- 14:22Speaker 1: That's among the things that add up to the biggest
- 14:26Speaker 1: tax cut in history. One other thing, you know, you
- 14:28Speaker 1: hear about rich people with deductions. Well, when you buy
- 14:32Speaker 1: your car and you borrow money, you're allowed to now
- 14:34Speaker 1: deduct the interest on that loan, so you can take
- 14:38Speaker 1: that interest deduction. And what you can take is that
- 14:42Speaker 1: interest payment and deduct it for income tax purposes. That's
- 14:46Speaker 1: a tremendous tax cut right there. But it all includes
- 14:50Speaker 1: fixing the healthcare system that Democrats broke with the disaster
- 14:55Speaker 1: known as Obamacare. Obamacare was a disaster from day one.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It's done nothing but go up. And if you remember
- 15:02Speaker 1: President Barack Hussain Obama when he came up with this
- 15:07Speaker 1: crazy idea, he said, everything's going to be great. Rates
- 15:11Speaker 1: are going to go down, payments are going to go down,
- 15:13Speaker 1: everything's going to go down. In what the exact opposite
- 15:16Speaker 1: with the biggest increase of any of health care in
- 15:19Speaker 1: any country.
- 15:20Speaker 2: It's a disaster.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And I'm calling today for insurance companies not to be
- 15:26Speaker 1: paid but for the money, this massive amount of money,
- 15:29Speaker 1: to be paid directly to the people of our country
- 15:32Speaker 1: so that they can buy their own healthcare, which will
- 15:35Speaker 1: be far better and far less expensive than the disaster
- 15:40Speaker 1: known as Obamacare.
- 15:41Speaker 2: And I've had I.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Think great support, I've even had Democrat support. So we
- 15:45Speaker 1: want the money that would be going to the insurance company,
- 15:48Speaker 1: which is hundreds of billions of dollars. You know, their
- 15:52Speaker 1: stock prices have gone up by one thousand percent in
- 15:55Speaker 1: many cases one thousand percent over a short period of
- 15:58Speaker 1: time as our country stupidly pays them so much money
- 16:02Speaker 1: with this Obamacare scandal. So I want the money to
- 16:06Speaker 1: go directly to you, the people, and you'll go out
- 16:09Speaker 1: and you'll buy your own health insurance, and you'll negotiate
- 16:12Speaker 1: different plans and you'll get much better insurance, and you
- 16:15Speaker 1: will be an entrepreneur for yourself. So I'm always willing
- 16:19Speaker 1: to work with anyone, including the Party. We'll work on
- 16:22Speaker 1: something having to do with healthcare. We can do a
- 16:25Speaker 1: lot better, we can do great, So much money is involved,
- 16:29Speaker 1: and we're willing to pay so much money to the people.
- 16:32Speaker 2: So we're going to pay a lot of money to
- 16:33Speaker 2: the people. They're going to go out.
- 16:35Speaker 1: And buy their own healthcare, and we're going to forget
- 16:37Speaker 1: this Obamacare madness. So with all of that, I just
- 16:41Speaker 1: want to tell you the country has never been in
- 16:43Speaker 1: better shape. We went through this short term disaster with
- 16:47Speaker 1: the Democrats because they thought it would be good politically,
- 16:51Speaker 1: and it's an honor now to sign this incredible bill
- 16:55Speaker 1: and get our country working again.
- 16:58Speaker 4: There's a couple different ways from what the President had
- 17:01Speaker 4: to say there in his remarks. Number one, when he said,
- 17:04Speaker 4: quote today, we're sending a clear message that we will
- 17:07Speaker 4: never give in to extortion, because that's what it is.
- 17:11Speaker 4: They tried to extort. The Democrats tried to extort our country.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Trump said the Democrats inflicted massive harm and keeping the
- 17:19Speaker 4: government closed since October the first. There's data that clearly
- 17:23Speaker 4: backs that up as well, and the President talking about
- 17:27Speaker 4: what the Democrats actually did, They caused harm, and that
- 17:32Speaker 4: harm included so many people that couldn't get around the
- 17:35Speaker 4: country to see family members who were sick, those who
- 17:40Speaker 4: were dying, those who had died. This was real and
- 17:44Speaker 4: it was personal, and that's part of the reason why
- 17:46Speaker 4: the President said it the way he did.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Makes the Democrats shut down as inflicted massive harm. They
- 17:54Speaker 1: caused twenty thousand flights to be canceled or delayed. They
- 17:58Speaker 1: departed so many times so late, people were hurt so badly.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Nobody's ever seen anything like this one. This was a
- 18:07Speaker 1: no brainer. This was an easy extension. But they didn't
- 18:11Speaker 1: want to do it the easy way. They had to
- 18:12Speaker 1: do it the hard way. They looked very bad the
- 18:14Speaker 1: Democrats do. They deprived more than one million government workers
- 18:19Speaker 1: from their paychecks and cut off food stamp benefits for
- 18:22Speaker 1: millions and millions more Americans than need. They caused tens
- 18:26Speaker 1: of thousands of federal contractors and small businesses to go unpaid.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And the total effect of the damage their antics cause
- 18:34Speaker 1: will take weeks and probably months to really calculate accurately,
- 18:39Speaker 1: including the serious harm that they did to our economy
- 18:42Speaker 1: and to people at the families.
- 18:44Speaker 2: So I just want to tell the American.
- 18:47Speaker 1: People, you should not forget this when we come up
- 18:49Speaker 1: to midterms and other things. Don't forget what they've done
- 18:52Speaker 1: to our country.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You also want.
- 18:53Speaker 4: To don't forget what they've done to this country. Now,
- 18:58Speaker 4: this is the fight, and this is where it's going.
- 19:01Speaker 4: I think there's a very good chance that the government
- 19:04Speaker 4: is going to be shut down again. Democrats don't think
- 19:08Speaker 4: that this is a bad thing to hurt the American people.
- 19:12Speaker 4: But you also have to understand this is par for
- 19:14Speaker 4: the course with Democrats. Now. When I say that, what
- 19:16Speaker 4: I mean it's simply put this way. Whatever they have
- 19:21Speaker 4: to do to weaponize, they will do it. There is
- 19:26Speaker 4: nothing that the Democrats will not do to hurt Americans.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Another example of that is what they did with allowing
- 19:34Speaker 4: millions of illegal immigrants to come into this country. Another
- 19:38Speaker 4: example of them putting illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens.
- 19:44Speaker 4: So the government has reopened. The big question now is
- 19:48Speaker 4: for how long. If the Democrats keep going the way
- 19:52Speaker 4: they are, there's a very good chance the end of
- 19:54Speaker 4: January the government will shut down yet again.
