- 0:00Speaker 1: I say that we cannot have corrupt elections if we
- 0:04Speaker 1: have to if they don't straighten it out. As an example,
- 0:06Speaker 1: voter ID. Why don't the Democrats want voter ID? You
- 0:11Speaker 1: know who does want voter ID? Democrat voters want it,
- 0:14Speaker 1: but Democrat politicians don't.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Why don't they want it?
- 0:17Speaker 1: Because they want to cheat on elections. If they don't
- 0:20Speaker 1: want voter ID, that means they.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Want to cheat. We can't allow cheating on elections.
- 0:24Speaker 3: If you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
- 0:27Speaker 3: Ben ferguson.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Good Thursday morning, nice to have you with us on
- 0:30Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one major
- 0:33Speaker 4: story for you. Donald Trump sits down with NBC News
- 0:36Speaker 4: in a wide ranging interview, talking about exactly what he's
- 0:39Speaker 4: doing for Americans, what his plans are moving forward, and
- 0:43Speaker 4: even throwing the media a little bit as well. Why
- 0:46Speaker 4: is it that the media hates Trump so much, especially
- 0:49Speaker 4: when he's willing to do these types of interviews, answer
- 0:53Speaker 4: virtually any question. We're going to play some of it
- 0:56Speaker 4: for you, and you're here directly from President Donald Trump.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Seven Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one,
- 1:04Speaker 4: Donald Trump sitting down with NBC News, having a very
- 1:07Speaker 4: blunt and honest conversation, focusing on all of the substance
- 1:11Speaker 4: changes that we've had during the Trump administration. He talked
- 1:16Speaker 4: about American confidence number one, saying that he has strong
- 1:20Speaker 4: confidence on interest rates, which are gonna help all Americans.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Trump said there is quote not much doubt that the
- 1:26Speaker 4: US interest rates will be lowered by the Federal Reserve,
- 1:31Speaker 4: signaling much more favorable borrowing costs ahead for consumers. That
- 1:36Speaker 4: is something that the markets and many business owners, he said,
- 1:38Speaker 4: are welcoming. He also emphasized his nominee for the FED
- 1:43Speaker 4: chair understands his priority. The president also said that it's
- 1:48Speaker 4: important that we allow the DOJ to handle business deals.
- 1:53Speaker 4: This just hours after that anti trust hearing on Netflix.
- 1:58Speaker 4: In contrast to his earlier comments, Trump stated he would
- 2:02Speaker 4: not intervene in the high profile corporate competition between Netflix
- 2:06Speaker 4: and Pair amount over it the potential acquisition of Warner
- 2:10Speaker 4: Brothers Discovery, instead letting the Department of Justice review it independently.
- 2:16Speaker 4: This shift was framed as respecting the process and reducing
- 2:21Speaker 4: political influence on business decisions. The president also said that
- 2:26Speaker 4: we're making great strides when it comes to immigration. Trump
- 2:30Speaker 4: saying his administration learned it might be wise to take
- 2:33Speaker 4: a little bit of a softer touch, Yes, that is
- 2:36Speaker 4: the present's words in certain immigration enforcement situations, while still
- 2:41Speaker 4: emphasizing toughness where needed. This was presented as a sign
- 2:45Speaker 4: of responsiveness and learning from experience, something Democrats are well
- 2:51Speaker 4: very concerned. The President also talked about money and the
- 2:56Speaker 4: American people, his administration, and the national debts, saying this.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Let's get to the FED.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Is there any doubt in your mind that interest rates
- 3:04Speaker 6: are going to be lowered?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Not much?
- 3:07Speaker 5: Why how can you say that?
- 3:08Speaker 2: I just think they're going to be lowered.
- 3:09Speaker 5: To me, they chase your new FED pick on board.
- 3:12Speaker 1: With that, We're way high. Okay, we're way high an
- 3:14Speaker 1: interest we have now with me and with all the money.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I've always been good at money, and with all the
- 3:20Speaker 1: money coming into our country, we're a rich country.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Again. We have debt, but.
- 3:25Speaker 1: We also have growth, and the growth will soon make
- 3:28Speaker 1: the debt look very small. Because the greatest way you
- 3:31Speaker 1: have two ways, you can cut, cut, cut.
- 3:33Speaker 2: And we do that anyway. And we did that.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You know, we got rid of hundreds of thousands of
- 3:38Speaker 1: federal workers. And those workers went out and got themselves
- 3:43Speaker 1: jobs in the free enterprise system. And you know what
- 3:46Speaker 1: that's called making America great again. We had ten workers
- 3:50Speaker 1: in the federal government for every single job. When the
- 3:53Speaker 1: Democrats go in, they hire I could right now give
- 3:57Speaker 1: you the best employment numbers in history in order do
- 4:00Speaker 1: go out and hire two million people.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Put him in the federal.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Does your new FEDI yes, Does your new FED pick.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Understand that you want him to lower interest rate?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Well? I think he does, but I think he wants
- 4:08Speaker 1: to anyway. I mean, if he came in and said
- 4:10Speaker 1: I want to.
- 4:10Speaker 6: Raise him, he said that he wouldn't have gotten the job.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He would not have gotten a job.
- 4:14Speaker 4: No, you listen to the president. There two points he's
- 4:18Speaker 4: obviously making. Number One, I'm not going to fake the
- 4:20Speaker 4: numbers with the federal government on employment. I'm not going
- 4:23Speaker 4: to go hire two million government workers, which is what
- 4:26Speaker 4: the Democrats did to artificially inflate the employment numbers.
- 4:30Speaker 7: He said, I can give you the best employment.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Numbers in history, but guess what, you, as a taxpayer,
- 4:34Speaker 4: are going to be paying for it. And he's also
- 4:36Speaker 4: talking about how it's important to have a FED chairman
- 4:39Speaker 4: that understands that Americans need someone on their side to
- 4:42Speaker 4: help them survive. That being a big part of the conversation.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Now.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Donald Trump also moved on to foreign policy issues, talking
- 4:50Speaker 4: about what's happening in Iran, the President saying this to
- 4:54Speaker 4: NBC News.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Should the Supreme leader in Iran be worried right now?
- 5:00Speaker 2: He should be very worried. Yeah, he should be. As
- 5:03Speaker 2: you know, they're negotiating with us.
- 5:04Speaker 5: I know they are.
- 5:05Speaker 6: But the protesters have said, you know, where are the Americans.
- 5:08Speaker 5: You promised them we would have their back. Do we
- 5:09Speaker 5: still have the back?
- 5:10Speaker 1: We've had their back, and look, that country is a
- 5:13Speaker 1: mess right now because of us.
- 5:14Speaker 2: We went in. We wiped out their nuclear. Peace in
- 5:19Speaker 2: the Middle East.
- 5:20Speaker 1: If I didn't take out their nuclear think of it,
- 5:23Speaker 1: if we didn't take out that nuclear we wouldn't have
- 5:26Speaker 1: peace in the Middle East because the Arab countries could
- 5:28Speaker 1: have never done that.
- 5:29Speaker 2: They were very, very afraid of Iran. They're not afraid
- 5:33Speaker 2: of Iran anymore.
- 5:34Speaker 1: We wiped out those beautiful Beat two bombers ones right
- 5:37Speaker 1: over there, those beautiful little models, those beautiful Beat two
- 5:41Speaker 1: bombers went in and they hit their target, every single
- 5:44Speaker 1: bob and obliterated it. And because of that they were
- 5:48Speaker 1: going to have a nuclear weapon within one month. Within
- 5:52Speaker 1: one month, they were going to have a nuclear weapon.
- 5:54Speaker 2: That was a big threat that they're not going to
- 5:56Speaker 2: have it anymore.
- 5:57Speaker 6: But now if you ate it, I mean, if there's
- 6:01Speaker 6: no more are they are they trying to restart the
- 6:03Speaker 6: nuclear world.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I heard that they are, and if they do, and
- 6:05Speaker 1: I let him know, if they do, we're going to
- 6:07Speaker 1: send them right back and do.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Their job again.
- 6:09Speaker 6: So you're understanding that they tried to restart it, and
- 6:11Speaker 6: that's why you're threatening force.
- 6:12Speaker 2: They tried to go back to the site. They weren't
- 6:14Speaker 2: even able to get near it. There was total obliteration.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But they were thinking about starting a new site in
- 6:20Speaker 1: a different part of the country.
- 6:22Speaker 2: We found out about it. So you do that, we're
- 6:25Speaker 2: going to do game bad things to you.
- 6:27Speaker 7: We're going to do very bad things to you.
- 6:30Speaker 4: The President not backing down on any of his promises there.
- 6:34Speaker 4: The President Trump also asked the of course, obsession question
- 6:38Speaker 4: by the media, and that is that somehow he's going
- 6:41Speaker 4: to stay in office for like a third term. NBC
- 6:46Speaker 4: News actually taking the time to ask the President this question.
- 6:50Speaker 7: And he had a little fun with it.
- 6:51Speaker 5: On January twenty first, twenty twenty nine. Do you see
- 6:55Speaker 5: any scenario where you were still president?
- 6:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It would be interesting, But wouldn't it be terrible if
- 7:02Speaker 1: I agreed with you? Know, if I gave you the
- 7:04Speaker 1: answer that you're looking for, it would make life so
- 7:07Speaker 1: much less exciting, right, it would be so much less exciting.
- 7:11Speaker 1: But I only do this for one reason. Make America
- 7:16Speaker 1: grade again. And that's what we're doing. We're making America
- 7:19Speaker 1: grade again.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Greater than ever before.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Our country is greater than ever before.
- 7:23Speaker 4: The President obviously having a little fun there with NBC
- 7:26Speaker 4: News not answering the question the way they wanted to,
- 7:29Speaker 4: smiling from ear to ear, knowing that that was going
- 7:32Speaker 4: to trigger them.
- 7:33Speaker 7: Now back to the serious issues at hand.
- 7:36Speaker 4: One of the things the President talked about was getting
- 7:38Speaker 4: rid of excess government waste, fraud, and abuse. And one
- 7:42Speaker 4: of the examples of that is what he's been talking
- 7:44Speaker 4: about with a federal reserve building. He is furious over
- 7:48Speaker 4: the costs and then the cost overruns. The President asked
- 7:52Speaker 4: about it, and this is what he said. The American
- 7:54Speaker 4: people are sick and tired of government abuse of your
- 7:58Speaker 4: tax dollars.
- 8:00Speaker 6: There's been bipartisan suggestions that the criminal investigation to the
- 8:03Speaker 6: current FED share Jerome Powell is payback right for not
- 8:06Speaker 6: lowering interest rates, but also for when he was in
- 8:09Speaker 6: that sort of news conference with you with the hard
- 8:11Speaker 6: hats and he was shaking his head and showing you
- 8:13Speaker 6: the papers and disagreeing with you in public.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Is that why he's under criminal investigation.
- 8:17Speaker 2: He was very respectful to me. He was he was
- 8:19Speaker 2: explaining to me.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I'm asking him, why are you spending almost four billion
- 8:25Speaker 1: dollars on a very small little complex of buildings.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It's the highest price for square foot.
- 8:31Speaker 1: He's renovating buildings for three to four billion dollars. And
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know, the sped share that I have is I
- 8:37Speaker 1: think he's going.
- 8:38Speaker 2: To be great.
- 8:38Speaker 1: He might not have a home because this guy has
- 8:41Speaker 1: spent so much money. And I looked. It's a see through.
- 8:44Speaker 1: There's nothing inside. They haven't done. They are spending money.
- 8:48Speaker 1: He's in judge of the project. This is the Federal
- 8:51Speaker 1: Reserve building I'm talking about. It's a very small little
- 8:54Speaker 1: it's actually a couple of a little bit. They're spending
- 8:57Speaker 1: more money than any building ever built in history per
- 9:00Speaker 1: square foot.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Some Republican centers say, they're not going to prove him
- 9:03Speaker 6: unless you drop that investigation.
- 9:05Speaker 2: A lot of people say a lot of things.
- 9:06Speaker 5: You don't think that's true.
- 9:07Speaker 6: You think is it worth it to drop the investigation
- 9:10Speaker 6: to get your fed share through?
- 9:12Speaker 1: I think the investigation is. The investigation is being handled
- 9:16Speaker 1: by Pam and Janine and the people.
- 9:19Speaker 2: They'll make their own decision on now.
- 9:21Speaker 4: The president was also asked one other fun question at
- 9:25Speaker 4: the very end. It's a little bit about his legacy,
- 9:28Speaker 4: how he'll be remembered, and what he's done so far.
- 9:31Speaker 4: And here's what the President had to say about all
- 9:34Speaker 4: of that.
- 9:35Speaker 6: You think at one point people will talk about you
- 9:38Speaker 6: when they talk about presidents like Washington and Lincoln.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Is that something you think.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Is going to have It's such an honor. But wal
- 9:44Speaker 1: could that and everyone's screaming. Gote I said, what are
- 9:47Speaker 1: they talking about? I hope they're right, not for me,
- 9:50Speaker 1: but for the country, because if I do a great job,
- 9:53Speaker 1: that means the country is doing well.
- 9:56Speaker 7: That sums up President Donald Trump perfectly. In a second.
- 10:00Speaker 4: If I do a great job, that means the country
- 10:05Speaker 4: is doing well. And that's why there's so many Americans
- 10:08Speaker 4: that are loving exactly what he's doing each and every day.
