- 1:23Speaker 1: have to hurt no mode. You send me swinging? What
- 1:27Speaker 1: kind of man would I be? Pretty brown eyes? Come

- 1:48Speaker 1: The lead single, level is kind of mid tempo song
- 1:52Speaker 1: hit number one on the Billboard, the DOT R and
- 1:54Speaker 1: B Song Chart and number three on the BDS R
- 1:57Speaker 1: and B Radio Charts, as well as over point eight

- 2:05Speaker 1: from Central High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Stokely wheels
- 2:13Speaker 1: you know to let out there man Lay you out
- 2:16Speaker 1: there right, good, my friend. I love the song. I
- 2:21Speaker 1: loved first of all, congratulations on the move to Uh,
- 2:26Speaker 1: it's your brand, it's your it's your it's your music.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I know you've been tied to the group, and guess what,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's still a great group. But the decision to become
- 2:35Speaker 1: an artist and that's what you are now, and that
- 2:38Speaker 1: the first song level And I would tell you, it's
- 2:41Speaker 1: interesting how radio is that because they're just put your
- 2:43Speaker 1: music out and they don't introduce the talent anymore as
- 2:46Speaker 1: much as they used to. And it took me for
- 2:49Speaker 1: a minute to find out it was you with that song,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and it's it's kind of frustrating because you know your
- 2:55Speaker 1: goal is first of all, you have a you have
- 2:56Speaker 1: a tremendous relationship and brand you built with men contention.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But now you're trying to sell who you are now.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Because you see who you are now you can promote
- 3:05Speaker 1: yourself go to venues and start selling them out at
- 3:07Speaker 1: Stokely Weaves, and you don't promote that. That's kind of frustrating.
- 3:11Speaker 1: That's the business side of it that you're trying to
- 3:13Speaker 1: make sure people understand. That's why I'm happy you on
- 3:15Speaker 1: my show, so we can talk about what you're doing
- 3:18Speaker 1: now and the goals of your career. Let's talk a
- 3:21Speaker 1: tell me about Absolutely, I appreciate it, man, I appreciate you.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And that's absolutely all of that is true. Trying to establish,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you know, and move on from everything, all the beautiful
- 3:32Speaker 1: things that have created with the group, and we all
- 3:36Speaker 1: are creating different you know, different spaces absolutely right now.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And uh, as you go on in life, you try
- 3:42Speaker 1: to just, um see what else you can see in
- 3:45Speaker 1: the world. And we've been, you know, on our journey
- 3:46Speaker 1: for a very long time, so you know, just trying
- 3:48Speaker 1: to you know, rediscovering, you know, just kind of re
- 3:51Speaker 1: energizing different areas of your life. You know, where we are,
- 3:54Speaker 1: all our artists, so you know, that just continues. So
- 3:57Speaker 1: I'm just glad that people are and receptive to what
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm doing and we're just gonna keep it moving forward. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's been amazing, amazing. Now your second single, your first
- 4:08Speaker 1: single was a mid tempo that was level now, you know,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know what you can kind of dance a little
- 4:14Speaker 1: bit on, you know what I'm saying, you can get
- 4:15Speaker 1: your groove on. Then you came back with songs that
- 4:18Speaker 1: they don't really do no more slow Jack. You know
- 4:21Speaker 1: slow Ja. That's that's that's, that's, that's, that's, that's that
- 4:24Speaker 1: back in the day music. You know, everybody, I did
- 4:27Speaker 1: this Rocket, you came back with Organic. Why did you
- 4:30Speaker 1: do that after Level? Why not? Well? I went with
- 4:34Speaker 1: a lot of people were just kind of screaming what
- 4:36Speaker 1: was just kind of an organic field, meaning you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: whatever it feels the best, you know, so you gotta
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know what what's happening? People ricking with that. People
- 4:45Speaker 1: kept you know, like stations were like, you know it's organic,
- 4:48Speaker 1: Beau is killing this. You know, everybody listened to the
- 4:50Speaker 1: record like did the next single, so that was screaming,
- 4:53Speaker 1: not just like the people who had heard Level that
- 4:56Speaker 1: was the first single, was like, you know, the reason
- 4:59Speaker 1: why we went if that is because people would play
- 5:02Speaker 1: at one time, two times, three times and they're like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: my kid, I can't play just one time. I left.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'm obvious that's an obvious situation. So we went ahead
- 5:11Speaker 1: and you know, when with that first and then the
- 5:13Speaker 1: second one, you know was Organic that they're but was
- 5:15Speaker 1: screaming for that, so it was pretty obvious. We just
- 5:18Speaker 1: went with what the natural take, take was on Yeah, man,
- 5:23Speaker 1: you know it's interesting. Man, I had a club and
- 5:24Speaker 1: I the thing about new music is people want to
- 5:27Speaker 1: hear what they know, and sometimes we don't want you
- 5:31Speaker 1: to do new stuff. So how how was that about?
- 5:35Speaker 1: How was how do it? You know? Because that's you
- 5:37Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about every But like I just
- 5:38Speaker 1: mentioned in your intro some of my favorites. So when
- 5:41Speaker 1: I see Stokeley, I want to hear, you know, my favorites.
- 5:45Speaker 1: But you also say I can't grow unless you hear
- 5:47Speaker 1: my new So how do you ridge that? Well? It's
- 5:51Speaker 1: funny man, because you know, we know the essence of
- 5:53Speaker 1: life is change, right, but the thing and we all
- 5:58Speaker 1: know that that's what it is, but it's very hard
- 6:02Speaker 1: to do when it's in your face, you know what
- 6:05Speaker 1: I mean, as far as when people sorry for people
- 6:06Speaker 1: to accept it, you know, and and then that's what
- 6:10Speaker 1: music and the people want what they want because you've
- 6:12Speaker 1: got to realize in music, it's like it's a time stamp.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It's it's uh, I realized what I've done when I've
- 6:19Speaker 1: done with the group. When I'm doing now, I am
- 6:24Speaker 1: stopping time in a way. People hear music, So when
- 6:27Speaker 1: you've listened to it like twenty years from my I remember,
- 6:30Speaker 1: this is an organic came on and I was doing this.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I was in college, you know, I was doing you
- 6:33Speaker 1: know what I mean. So people want to feel bad.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It's like that peel that you take and people like
- 6:39Speaker 1: to make you feel good. So I understand in the
- 6:42Speaker 1: way people want that feeling over. No, so when something
- 6:45Speaker 1: is new, I don't know this. It's just you know,
- 6:47Speaker 1: we were kind of a little afraid of that. But
- 6:49Speaker 1: as artists we kind of have to. It's auch. You
- 6:52Speaker 1: have to kind of push us through these moments, you know,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and get to the next part. And that's what I look,
- 6:58Speaker 1: that's what that with me, you know. I it's certain
- 7:01Speaker 1: songs may I remember in college, and certain dogs I
- 7:05Speaker 1: remember relationships. I was certain songs can really lock you
- 7:09Speaker 1: down for a moment, you know, absolutely emotionally. And so
- 7:12Speaker 1: you're pushing that now social media now, you know you
- 7:16Speaker 1: you know when you started, you know, when I got
- 7:18Speaker 1: an entertainment that wasn't existed existing. Now, how does that
- 7:21Speaker 1: help you or how does it hurt you? And building
- 7:23Speaker 1: your bread as fast as you're trying to build it. Well,
- 7:27Speaker 1: it's you know, it's good and terrible everything right now.
- 7:29Speaker 1: You know, the technology is great, and it's also you know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: it can hinder you as well too, because it's it's
- 7:37Speaker 1: so distracting at the same time, you did. The world
- 7:40Speaker 1: moves such at a rapid pace right now that nobody
- 7:43Speaker 1: can pay attention, you know. That's the bad part of
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's like, you know, nobody can really focus on anything.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It's back in the day you could, um, we knew
- 7:52Speaker 1: when something's on the ready, you focus on that one
- 7:54Speaker 1: thing for a minute. It was very intense, you know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: with videos, everything there was there was one place to
- 7:59Speaker 1: go get it, you know. So that was good and
- 8:01Speaker 1: bad too. It's like there was no everybody is like
- 8:05Speaker 1: as far as and honest was trying to get out
- 8:06Speaker 1: and get the music out, get there, and there was
- 8:08Speaker 1: only a few places to put it. So radio you
- 8:10Speaker 1: have to go through different channels and romp to these
- 8:12Speaker 1: hoops and you have to sound a certain way and
- 8:14Speaker 1: look a certain way. Blah blah. Stoke hold that thought.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring you right back so we can wrap
- 8:18Speaker 1: it up on this next break. Uh, we're on the
- 8:21Speaker 1: phone with my man Stokely Williams. Make conditions. We'll be
- 8:26Speaker 1: right back with more from Marsan McDonald and money making conversations.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Don't touch that down. Hi, this was Sean McDonald on
- 8:35Speaker 1: the phone. Is Stokely Williams late single drama My man
- 8:38Speaker 1: does all, doesn't everything? Stoke and I wanted to make
- 8:43Speaker 1: sure we were starting later to the interview, and I
- 8:45Speaker 1: didn't want to rush off because of the fact that
- 8:47Speaker 1: it's all about your brand, you know, it's all about
- 8:49Speaker 1: getting the word out and making sure people understand that
- 8:52Speaker 1: who you are, your music, which we all are fans of,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but you you're transitioned into another plane in your life.
- 8:58Speaker 1: So just you know, we're on HBCU campuses, we are
- 9:01Speaker 1: all university campus, we all downloaded, tell every about how
- 9:04Speaker 1: they can reach you, how they can buy your music,
- 9:06Speaker 1: so it makes sure you just this is just the
- 9:08Speaker 1: one of many interviews Stokeally that we're gonna do together.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's the first half you and I ever spoke. Yeah, Man,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I'm a wherever you are, You're probably wherever who I am, man,
- 9:16Speaker 1: But I cannot let you go without let your message
- 9:19Speaker 1: be delivered. So that's why I'm bringing you back. So
- 9:21Speaker 1: tell us about this, okay, if you can find me
- 9:24Speaker 1: at Stokely official and that's Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. Also my
- 9:28Speaker 1: website is I stokely dot com. That's I S T
- 9:32Speaker 1: O k l e y dot com. You know, send

- 9:38Speaker 1: CD is and introducing Stokely is titled and you can
- 9:42Speaker 1: find it on all of the usual suspects on the internet,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you know, whether it be Amazon, iTunes, you know, Google Play,
- 9:49Speaker 1: all of it, you know, and just support good music
- 9:52Speaker 1: amount right now, currently tourn with many different you know
- 9:55Speaker 1: people from uh back in the day and you know,
- 9:58Speaker 1: new people and the folks like Tanking, Joe and many people.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Please telling Roche said, hi, all those names you say,
- 10:07Speaker 1: they're gonna come see the show because I'm trying to
