Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, we got a lot of balloons coming our way,
- 0:02Speaker 1: and that just now seems to me like it's a
- 0:05Speaker 1: normal thing that there's balloons, spy balloons that are coming
- 0:09Speaker 1: from all over the world. We had more spy balloons
- 0:14Speaker 1: that were shot down, more spy balloons or as they
- 0:17Speaker 1: describe them, unidentified objects. This happening on Super Bowl Sunday.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Another one. The US shot down another object over Laker
- 0:27Speaker 1: on fourth in eight days. Republicans are now demanding answers,
- 0:33Speaker 1: as they should now. The question that I know many
- 0:36Speaker 1: of you were going to want to be answered is
- 0:39Speaker 1: the same question that I've been wanting an answer to.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Is this new or has this been happening all along
- 0:47Speaker 1: and we're just now finding out about it they're just
- 0:49Speaker 1: now telling us about it. Or is our government so
- 0:55Speaker 1: incompetent that the people have been doing this for a
- 0:57Speaker 1: long time and we didn't know about it because they
- 1:02Speaker 1: weren't looking for these balloons. There are a lot of
- 1:07Speaker 1: scenarios here, So let me tell you about the latest
- 1:11Speaker 1: one that we have shot down. Keyword, the latest one
- 1:16Speaker 1: that we've shot down that we know about. The United
- 1:19Speaker 1: States military on Sunday shot down what they described as
- 1:24Speaker 1: an unidentified flying object over Michigan. Yes, they did not
- 1:28Speaker 1: wait until it got out over the sea. Why because
- 1:32Speaker 1: that is not going to fly with the American people anymore.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And the White House clearly understands a screwed up allowing
- 1:38Speaker 1: that last spy balloon that was the size of school
- 1:41Speaker 1: buses to fly over our country, over our installations and
- 1:46Speaker 1: gather serious intelligence. The United States military now taking a
- 1:51Speaker 1: hard line on unidentified objects and shooting this one down
- 1:54Speaker 1: over Michigan. That is the fourth US military shot down
- 1:58Speaker 1: balloon in eight days. Nor add also the longer version
- 2:03Speaker 1: of that. North American Defense Command said in a statement
- 2:07Speaker 1: today at two forty two, while you were getting ready
- 2:10Speaker 1: for the Super Bowl. This was the alert that went
- 2:12Speaker 1: out at the direction of President Biden and based on
- 2:17Speaker 1: the recommendations of Secretary Austin's to Defense Secretary and military leadership.
- 2:23Speaker 1: An F sixteen fired an AIMS X nine X to
- 2:28Speaker 1: successfully shoot down an airborne object flying an approximately twenty
- 2:32Speaker 1: thousand feet in US airspace Overlake Huron in the state
- 2:38Speaker 1: of Michigan. It's path an altitude raised concerns, including that
- 2:43Speaker 1: it could be a hazard to civil aviation. Now here's
- 2:48Speaker 1: the part that is interesting. The logic that was used
- 2:52Speaker 1: by this administration that has now gotten them in trouble
- 2:58Speaker 1: is they try to say over and over and over
- 3:02Speaker 1: again that that first balloon that we shot down over
- 3:06Speaker 1: the ocean, after it gathered massive amounts of intelligence on
- 3:10Speaker 1: our country and flew over country for five days, over
- 3:13Speaker 1: all the areas that they wanted it to fly over,
- 3:17Speaker 1: gathering lord knows what on us. The argument the administration
- 3:23Speaker 1: made at that time was this, Well, it was flying
- 3:31Speaker 1: very high. It was flying above as they described it. Okay,
- 3:37Speaker 1: it was flying above commercial aviation. Commercial aviation isn't flying
- 3:44Speaker 1: at sixty thousand feet. So that's why they said they
- 3:47Speaker 1: didn't shoot it down. Okay, that's why it happened. That's
- 3:51Speaker 1: why we did it. That's what they said. Then they
- 3:56Speaker 1: got themselves in trouble. And this may be because other
- 3:59Speaker 1: country or whoever's behind these balloons said all right, we'll
- 4:03Speaker 1: call their bluff. Let's fly these things lower. Let's lower
- 4:06Speaker 1: the altitude and then see what America does. Well, now
- 4:11Speaker 1: that it dropped down to forty thirty thousand feet and
- 4:14Speaker 1: lower than that, this is now where we are. We
- 4:20Speaker 1: have these objects that are flying and they can't say
- 4:24Speaker 1: it's not going to affect commercial travel. They have no
- 4:27Speaker 1: choice now but to shoot down these objects. They've backed themselves,
- 4:35Speaker 1: in essence into a corner. They also said it's path
- 4:40Speaker 1: and altitude raised concerns, including that could be a hazard
- 4:43Speaker 1: not only the civil aviation. The location chosen, they say
- 4:46Speaker 1: for the shootdown afforded us the opportunity to avoid impact
- 4:50Speaker 1: to people on the ground while improving chances of debris recovery.
- 4:54Speaker 1: There are no indications of any civilians hurt or otherwise affected.
- 4:58Speaker 1: North American Aerospace Fence Command detective the object Sunday morning
- 5:02Speaker 1: and has maintained visual and radar tracking of it. Based
- 5:06Speaker 1: on its flight path and data, we can reasonably connect
- 5:09Speaker 1: this object to the radar signal picked up over Montana,
- 5:13Speaker 1: which flew in proximity to Sense of DoD sites. We
- 5:18Speaker 1: did not assess it to be a kinetic military threat
- 5:21Speaker 1: to anything on the ground, but we assessed it was
- 5:25Speaker 1: a safety flight hazard and a threat due to its
- 5:27Speaker 1: potential surveillance capabilities. Our team will now work to recover
- 5:31Speaker 1: the object in an effort to learn more now. Congressional
- 5:35Speaker 1: Aid told The Wall Street Journal that the object overlate
- 5:38Speaker 1: Huron was octagon shaped Representative Jack Berman, a Republican from Michigan, tweeted,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I've been in contact with DoD regarding operations across the
- 5:49Speaker 1: Great Lakes region. Today, the US military has decommissioned another
- 5:54Speaker 1: object over Lake Huron. I appreciate the decisive action by
- 5:59Speaker 1: our fighter. Let's see, American people deserve far more answers
- 6:03Speaker 1: than we have. Couldn't agree more than that. Representative. Another representative,
- 6:09Speaker 1: a Democrat from Michigan, tweeted out, just got a call
- 6:12Speaker 1: from Department of Defense. Our military has an extremely close
- 6:15Speaker 1: eye on the object above, like Hran. We'll know more
- 6:19Speaker 1: about what this is in coming days, but for now,
- 6:22Speaker 1: be assured that all parties have been laser focus on
- 6:26Speaker 1: it from the moment it traveled over our waters. Now
- 6:33Speaker 1: Democrats and Republicans are coming together on this because they
- 6:37Speaker 1: realize that this is a really bad a really bad story,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and also a really big story. It's an embarrassing story
- 6:47Speaker 1: that this is even capable, that this is even an option.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It's an embarrassing story that this has been happening, and honestly,
- 6:55Speaker 1: for we don't even know how long it's been happening.
- 6:59Speaker 1: We have no clue how long this has been going on.
- 7:04Speaker 1: We have absolutely no idea how many days, months, weeks,
- 7:11Speaker 1: or years they've been doing this. That's why it's clear
- 7:16Speaker 1: the American people quote deserve answers. We also don't understand
- 7:22Speaker 1: why the administration went from acting like it didn't matter
- 7:26Speaker 1: and how many times maybe they didn't tell us about it.
- 7:29Speaker 1: There's also lack of communication, quite possibly, and this is
- 7:33Speaker 1: another problem, lack of communication from the DoD to the
- 7:37Speaker 1: White House. We've learned about that lack of communication. We
- 7:41Speaker 1: learned apparently that first massive balloon that was the size
- 7:44Speaker 1: of a school bus that flew across the entire country.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Then we finally shut it down when it was over Alaska.
- 7:51Speaker 1: The President wasn't even briefed on it, didn't even know
- 7:54Speaker 1: it existed. That's also a major problem. So these are
- 7:59Speaker 1: just some of the issues, and they are significant. How
- 8:07Speaker 1: can we be the greatest country in the world and
- 8:09Speaker 1: not know about any of this? How can we be
- 8:12Speaker 1: the greatest country in the world, with the greatest military
- 8:15Speaker 1: and have this many balloons flying over our country? Before
- 8:21Speaker 1: we lose our minds over these balloons. Let's also be
- 8:25Speaker 1: clear about something we're not our China is not the
- 8:31Speaker 1: only one that's probably doing this. We have spy balloons,
- 8:36Speaker 1: no doubt about it, that fly around the world. We
- 8:40Speaker 1: are the greatest military in the world. Yep. There's a
- 8:45Speaker 1: lot of these balloons flying over the US and apparently
- 8:47Speaker 1: this just has I guess not been a priority for
- 8:55Speaker 1: US to shoot them down under this administration or of
- 9:00Speaker 1: this Pentagon. That's obviously changed because the pr optics, the
- 9:03Speaker 1: nightmare that is this big balloon that flew over the
- 9:08Speaker 1: entire nation. Now China, it's also just so you know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: fighting back. China is pretty angry. China has actually come
- 9:17Speaker 1: out now and China has said, we'll hold on a second.
- 9:22Speaker 1: There's been more than tenuous balloons that have flown into
- 9:25Speaker 1: our air space. China this morning said that more than
- 9:32Speaker 1: ten US high altude balloons have flown over in its
- 9:35Speaker 1: air space during the past year without its permission. This
- 9:39Speaker 1: coming after Washington accuses Beijing of operating a fleet of
- 9:43Speaker 1: surveillance balloons around the world. United States denied that it
- 9:46Speaker 1: operates any surveillance balloons over China. I'll be honest with you,
- 9:50Speaker 1: I don't believe that. But whatever the Chinese allegations came
- 9:53Speaker 1: after the US shutdown another spected Chinese by balloon that
- 9:56Speaker 1: had crossed from Alaska South Carolina, sparking a new crisis
- 10:00Speaker 1: in bilateral relations that have spiraled to their lowest level
- 10:03Speaker 1: in decades. Foreign Ministry spokesman gave no details about the
- 10:08Speaker 1: alleged US balloons, how they had been dealt with, or
- 10:11Speaker 1: whether they had government or military links. It is also
- 10:16Speaker 1: common for US balloons to legally enter the airspace of
- 10:19Speaker 1: other countries, Wang said it is daily briefing. Since last year,
- 10:23Speaker 1: US high altitude balloons have illegally flown over China's airspace
- 10:26Speaker 1: more than ten times without the approval of Chinese authorities.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Wang said the US should first reflect on itself and
- 10:34Speaker 1: change course, rather than smear and instigate a confrontation. Referring
- 10:39Speaker 1: to China, China says the balloons shut down by the
- 10:41Speaker 1: US was an unmanned airship made for mediological research that
- 10:47Speaker 1: had been that had been flown off course. It has
- 10:51Speaker 1: accused the US of overreacting by shooting it down and
- 10:54Speaker 1: threatening to take unspecified action and response. In Washington, National
- 10:59Speaker 1: Security Council spokesman said this morning that any claim that
- 11:05Speaker 1: the US government operates surveillance balloons over China is quote false.
- 11:11Speaker 1: It is China that has a high altitude surveillance balloon
- 11:15Speaker 1: program for intelligence collection connected to the People's Liberation Army
- 11:20Speaker 1: that it has used to violate the sovereigny of the
- 11:23Speaker 1: United States and over forty countries across five continents. This
- 11:27Speaker 1: the latest example of China scrambling to do damage control.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Is repeatedly and wrongfully claimed the surveillance balloon is sent
- 11:35Speaker 1: over the United States was a weather balloon and that
- 11:38Speaker 1: this day has failed to offer into the state has
- 11:40Speaker 1: failed to offer any credible explanations for its intrusion into
- 11:45Speaker 1: our airspace and the airspace of others. Following the balloon incident,
- 11:49Speaker 1: US Secretary of State Anthony Blinkoln canceled a vision a
- 11:52Speaker 1: visit to Beijing that many had hoped would put the
- 11:56Speaker 1: brakes on the sharp decline in relations over Taiwan trade,
- 12:00Speaker 1: human rights, and threatening Chinese actions in the disputed South
- 12:04Speaker 1: China see also Monday morning. The Philippines are now accusing
- 12:10Speaker 1: a Chinese Coastguard ship of targeting at Philippine Coastguard vessel
- 12:14Speaker 1: with a military grade laser and temporarily blinding some of
- 12:18Speaker 1: its crew in the South China see calling it a
- 12:20Speaker 1: blatant violation of their sovereign rights. Wang said a Philippine
- 12:25Speaker 1: Coastguard vessel had trespassed into Chinese waters without permission, they
- 12:29Speaker 1: claim on February the six, and that Chinese Coastguard vessels
- 12:33Speaker 1: responded professionally and with restraint. China claims virtually all of
- 12:38Speaker 1: the strategic Waterway had been steadily building up its marine
- 12:42Speaker 1: time forces an island outposts. China and the Philippines are
- 12:46Speaker 1: maintaining communications through diplomatic channels in this regard. Wang said
- 12:51Speaker 1: China's Defense Ministry did not immediately respond to a question
- 12:54Speaker 1: about the incident. Adding to all this tension, by the way,
- 12:58Speaker 1: a US fighter diet shut down an undone fight object
- 13:00Speaker 1: over Lake here on on Sunday, that getting another reaction
- 13:04Speaker 1: from China. Now the White House also has another problem.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And I go back to the handling of this in
- 13:12Speaker 1: this country. I can't control China, I can't control what
- 13:14Speaker 1: they do. But what I can do is demand that
- 13:19Speaker 1: our nation have an actual foreign policy that deals with
- 13:22Speaker 1: China and Chinese surveillance balloons, and that we don't sit
- 13:25Speaker 1: here and allow them to say really stupid stuff. Now
- 13:29Speaker 1: when I say, you know, they say really stupid stuff,
- 13:32Speaker 1: Let me explain what I mean by that. The White
- 13:35Speaker 1: House try to claim that shooting down of a second
- 13:38Speaker 1: object is evidence that the Pentagon is doing it right.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Others are saying, no, shooting down the second object a
- 13:45Speaker 1: couple of days ago shows that you guys have serious
- 13:49Speaker 1: regrets for not shooting down the spy balloon that went
- 13:51Speaker 1: all the way across the country. And then the White
- 13:54Speaker 1: House says, well, these two balloons are totally different because
- 13:58Speaker 1: one was bigger, and now these second one they claimed
- 14:00Speaker 1: was smaller, the size of a car instead of a bus.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Listen to the White House trying to figure out their
- 14:04Speaker 1: new foreign policy on balloons as their backtracking on their
- 14:08Speaker 1: first disaster. I'm not going to speak for the Pentagon.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I can tell you that the President doesn't regret the
- 14:12Speaker 1: way that we handled the first balloon that time. We
- 14:17Speaker 1: first of all apples and oranges here in terms of size,
- 14:21Speaker 1: as I said, this was size of a small car,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and it was over a very sparsely populated area, but
- 14:27Speaker 1: also more critically over it was over water water space.
- 14:32Speaker 1: When we ordered this down as we did as we
- 14:34Speaker 1: did the last one, but completely different size and the
- 14:39Speaker 1: debris field for this we expect to be, but much
- 14:43Speaker 1: much smaller than would have been for the other one.
- 14:46Speaker 1: That's difference one. Difference two. We knew for a fact
- 14:50Speaker 1: that the PRC balloon that we shot down last week
- 14:53Speaker 1: was in fact a surveillance asset. So their logic is, well,
- 15:00Speaker 1: it was different last time, and it's better now for
- 15:04Speaker 1: us to shoot this down because the size and if
- 15:08Speaker 1: the other one was too big of a threat falling
- 15:09Speaker 1: from the sky even though it was over you know
- 15:11Speaker 1: land that was just no one was on and it
- 15:16Speaker 1: went over water many different times that we could have
- 15:18Speaker 1: shut down. And I think what you're hearing from the
- 15:20Speaker 1: White House is this is their way of saying, Okay,
- 15:23Speaker 1: we really screwed up, and we didn't realize that the
- 15:25Speaker 1: American people were going to find out about this first balloon,
- 15:27Speaker 1: and we didn't realize how angry they were going to be.
- 15:30Speaker 1: So now if something flies over this country, we're gonna
- 15:32Speaker 1: shoot down because it's in our political best interest, not
- 15:34Speaker 1: national security. They're not worried about now security, it's any
- 15:38Speaker 1: to be worried about the political side of it. They
- 15:40Speaker 1: seem to be worried about the optics. That's what they
- 15:44Speaker 1: seem to be really worried about optics over national security
- 15:50Speaker 1: is always a mistake. I don't care who you are
- 15:53Speaker 1: in the White House, and the Biden White House clearly
- 15:58Speaker 1: more worried about the optics and now security. Proof of
- 16:01Speaker 1: it is the fact that they weren't even concerned about
- 16:06Speaker 1: shooting down that first balloon that was clearly gathering significant intelligence.
- 16:12Speaker 1: It's not, by the way, just Republicans now that are
- 16:15Speaker 1: criticizing the administration. Give you another example of this. Representative
- 16:21Speaker 1: Jim Himes, he's a Democrat from Connecticut. He is the
- 16:27Speaker 1: ranking member on the Intelligence Committee, sat on Sunday that
- 16:34Speaker 1: he has quote real concerns about the Biden administration's transparency
- 16:40Speaker 1: about the unidentified objects that have been shot down in
- 16:43Speaker 1: recent days. Jim Hines was on NBC News is Meet
- 16:51Speaker 1: the Press. Hines is part of the Gang of Eight,
- 16:54Speaker 1: the top leaders of Congress and of the House Intelligence Committee.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Said those lawmakers received a very extensive briefing about the
- 17:03Speaker 1: Junny spy balloon that was shot down over waters this month.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Himes expressed concerns that the Biden administration has been less
- 17:13Speaker 1: forthcoming about the unidentified objects shut down over Alaska and
- 17:16Speaker 1: Canada in Canadian airspace. On Friday and Saturday, and then
- 17:19Speaker 1: another one again on Sunday, even after he did this interview,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Although he acknowledged that information may be scarce, part of
- 17:28Speaker 1: the problem is that these second and third objects were
- 17:31Speaker 1: shut down in very remote areas. So my guess is
- 17:33Speaker 1: that there's just not a lot of information out there
- 17:37Speaker 1: yet to share. The one thing I see troubling, he
- 17:41Speaker 1: went on to say, is massive speculation about alien invasions
- 17:45Speaker 1: in additional Chinese or Russian action, Hind said, adding that
- 17:49Speaker 1: the absence of information will make people anxious. He said,
- 17:55Speaker 1: so I do hope the administration has a lot more
- 17:57Speaker 1: information for all of us on what's going on. Senate
- 18:02Speaker 1: Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also said on Sunday that the
- 18:06Speaker 1: US believes the unidentified objects shut down over Alaska in
- 18:09Speaker 1: Canada were balloons, smaller than the Chinese by balloon shut
- 18:13Speaker 1: down on the fourth of February. Schumer also said in
- 18:17Speaker 1: an interview on ABC's This Week that National Security Advisor
- 18:21Speaker 1: Jake Sullivan briefed him Saturday night, hours after the unidentified
- 18:25Speaker 1: object in Canada and Canadian airspace was shut down. Asked
- 18:29Speaker 1: whether the two objects that were shut down in recent
- 18:32Speaker 1: days were balloons Schumer said they believed they were yes,
- 18:35Speaker 1: but much smaller than the first one. The congressman, a Democrat, said,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I'll meet the press. He has not been briefed on
- 18:44Speaker 1: the matter yet. When he was pressed about whether he
- 18:47Speaker 1: thinks the administration is not being forthcoming or whether it
- 18:51Speaker 1: is a situation which it does not have enough information,
- 18:55Speaker 1: he said, I really can't answer that question because I
- 18:57Speaker 1: haven't been briefed. I've got a very detailed briefing on
- 19:01Speaker 1: the first Chinese balloon, and I think the decision making
- 19:04Speaker 1: process there was very good. We now own something that
- 19:10Speaker 1: we're going to exploit for intelligence. I think the decision
- 19:14Speaker 1: making was good. Himes none that people had not heard
- 19:17Speaker 1: about the Chinese spy Boman until it was spotted flying
- 19:19Speaker 1: over Montana this month. NBC News broke the news that
- 19:23Speaker 1: the US was monitoring the high altitude surveillance device as
- 19:27Speaker 1: it hovered on the US for days. There may be
- 19:32Speaker 1: reason for it, and the absence of information, people will
- 19:35Speaker 1: fill in the gaps when anxiety and other stuff. The
- 19:37Speaker 1: congressman went on to say, so I wish the administration
- 19:40Speaker 1: was a little quicker to tell us everything they do know.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Officials also confirmed Saturday that a US fighter jet had
- 19:48Speaker 1: shot down an unidentified object over Canada on Prime Minister
- 19:53Speaker 1: Trudeau's orders. The decision was made consultation, when President Joe Biden,
- 19:57Speaker 1: White House and Pentagon officials confirmed on se Saturday it
- 20:01Speaker 1: was a third object to have been shut down over
- 20:03Speaker 1: Northern America this month, and on Friday, the US military
- 20:07Speaker 1: also shut down another high altitude object flying over Alaska
- 20:10Speaker 1: airspace and Arctic waters. At a White House briefing that day,
- 20:15Speaker 1: the National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, who I played earlier,
- 20:19Speaker 1: so the US does not know who owns the object,
- 20:21Speaker 1: but she declined to call a balloon such as the
- 20:24Speaker 1: one allegedly owned by the Chinese government that was shut
- 20:26Speaker 1: down off the Carolinas. So Democrats now are again saying
- 20:32Speaker 1: something that they've not said before, and that is we
- 20:35Speaker 1: don't feel like we have enough transparency. We're worried about
- 20:42Speaker 1: what's happening here. We're concerned about this military. Joe Biden
- 20:54Speaker 1: also used another word. He used the word humiliated. He
- 20:58Speaker 1: was on ABC News and this is what he had
- 21:01Speaker 1: to say. Thank you for coming in this morning. Great
- 21:03Speaker 1: to be here, George, first time in three years. Yeah,
- 21:05Speaker 1: it's been a while since COVID. I want to start
- 21:07Speaker 1: with this question over the Chinese spy planes and other
- 21:10Speaker 1: aerial objects. Three incidents in a week. President Biden took
- 21:13Speaker 1: some heat from your Democratic colleagues for not shooting down
- 21:15Speaker 1: the spy balloon sooner. What can you tell us about
- 21:18Speaker 1: these last two incidents Friday and Saturday night? And are
- 21:21Speaker 1: you confident in the overall administration response? Yes, you know.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I was briefed by Jake Sullivan last night. So let
- 21:27Speaker 1: me get right to it. And now I'll give a
- 21:29Speaker 1: little background and then get to your specific The bottom
- 21:32Speaker 1: line is, first, until a few months ago, we didn't
- 21:35Speaker 1: know of these balloons. Our intelligence and our military did
- 21:38Speaker 1: not know this one as far back as President Trump
- 21:41Speaker 1: at least three times. These wild that we didn't know,
- 21:43Speaker 1: isn't it. It is wild that we didn't know absolutely,
- 21:46Speaker 1: And I'll get to that in a minute. Now they
- 21:48Speaker 1: are learning a lot more, and the military and the
- 21:52Speaker 1: intelligence are focused like a laser on first gathering and
- 21:56Speaker 1: accumulating the information, then coming up with a comprehensive analysis
- 22:01Speaker 1: of what went on before, what's going on now, and
- 22:03Speaker 1: what could go on in the future. You can be
- 22:06Speaker 1: sure that if any any American interests or people are
- 22:10Speaker 1: at risk, they'll take appropriate action until they get that
- 22:15Speaker 1: comprehensive analysis. However, we have to look at each balloon
- 22:19Speaker 1: individuals be what they start today night. They believed they were, yes,
- 22:23Speaker 1: but much smaller than the one the first one. Both
- 22:28Speaker 1: of those, one over Canada, one over a last over
- 22:30Speaker 1: at forty thousand feet. Immediately it was determined that that's
- 22:34Speaker 1: a danger to commercial aircraft which also fly at forty
- 22:37Speaker 1: thousand feet, and so the second one, in cooperation with
- 22:40Speaker 1: the Canadians, the first one with the Americans, took it
- 22:43Speaker 1: down and that's appropriate. The first balloon there was a
- 22:47Speaker 1: much different rationale, which I think was the appropriate rationale.
- 22:51Speaker 1: We got enormous intelligence information from surveiling the balloon as
- 22:55Speaker 1: it went over The United States get enormous intelligence as well. Well,
- 22:59Speaker 1: they could have been getting it anyway, but we have
- 23:01Speaker 1: to know what they're doing, okay, and we don't know exactly,
- 23:04Speaker 1: but we got a lot of that, and even more importantly,
- 23:06Speaker 1: by shooting it down over water US waters only six
- 23:10Speaker 1: miles out from South Carolina, we're going to probably be
- 23:13Speaker 1: able to piece together this whole whole surveillance balloon and
- 23:18Speaker 1: know exactly what's going on. So that's a huge coup
- 23:21Speaker 1: for the United program is gonna have to be shut
- 23:23Speaker 1: down now as you know, the Chinese aren't going to
- 23:24Speaker 1: be able to send balloon. Look, I think the Chinese
- 23:26Speaker 1: were humiliated. I think the Chinese were caught lying, and
- 23:30Speaker 1: I think it's real. It's a real step back for them. Yes,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I think they're going to have to I think they're
- 23:35Speaker 1: probably going to have to get rid of it or
- 23:37Speaker 1: do something because I love this, right, all right, So
- 23:40Speaker 1: the president had a bad week, but the Chinese are
- 23:42Speaker 1: also humiliated. Right, Biden humiliated the Chinese by shooting down
- 23:46Speaker 1: the spyble and even though it was us that we're
- 23:48Speaker 1: humiliated by allowing it to go across our entire country.
- 23:53Speaker 1: This is democratic logic for you, right, I would be
- 24:00Speaker 1: very suspicious of all US adversaries. Former nora AD chief
- 24:04Speaker 1: unsuspected recent spy balloons also said on CNN about the
- 24:09Speaker 1: problem here nora AD general on object recovery. He said,
- 24:14Speaker 1: I would be hesitant and urge you not to attribute
- 24:17Speaker 1: it to any specific country. We don't know. That's why
- 24:21Speaker 1: it's so critical to get our hands on these so
- 24:23Speaker 1: that we can look at and analyze what they actually are.
- 24:29Speaker 1: So they're now claiming, hey, maybe this isn't China. Now
- 24:31Speaker 1: could this be another country. Yeah, there's countries that hey
- 24:33Speaker 1: this there's a possibility of that. But the reality is
- 24:37Speaker 1: it probably is China. So why is the administration falling
- 24:41Speaker 1: all over themselves? Also say it may not be China.
- 24:48Speaker 1: China's collecting US military and nuclear capabilities with spy balloons
- 24:54Speaker 1: in preparation many now belief for conflicts, including conflicts with Taiwan.
- 25:00Speaker 1: That is something that we need to understand. Representative the
- 25:05Speaker 1: Call said this on Fox News. These spy balloons have
- 25:10Speaker 1: great capability to gather and collect intelligence. I would argue
- 25:15Speaker 1: more so than even satellites, in the sense that they're
- 25:18Speaker 1: flying at say forty to sixty thousand feet above the earth.
- 25:24Speaker 1: The imagery that they can capture and other intelligence data
- 25:27Speaker 1: that I can't be specific about, can be captured and
- 25:31Speaker 1: then transmitted back to the mothers ship in Beijing. They
- 25:35Speaker 1: have control over these balloons. You know, this was an
- 25:37Speaker 1: active spionage and plane site plane view of the American people.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I know there have been reports of prior ones, but
- 25:45Speaker 1: none quite like this. And the reason why this one
- 25:48Speaker 1: is so damaging as I do a damage assessment about
- 25:52Speaker 1: what really happened that day. This balloon whenever three of
- 25:56Speaker 1: our most sensitive nuclear sights, one being a month Ana
- 26:00Speaker 1: that runs the triad that's air land and see nuclear strikes,
- 26:04Speaker 1: encounter strikes. It went over our strategic command in Omaha, Nebraska,
- 26:09Speaker 1: where our biggest stockpile of nuclear weapons exist. Let me
- 26:14Speaker 1: just stop there. This is Michael McCall. He's a Republican
- 26:19Speaker 1: Texas House Foreign Affairs Chairman, and he's laying out for
- 26:24Speaker 1: the American people. Why don't believe this bs from this
- 26:27Speaker 1: administration that this is Oh, when these things fly over,
- 26:32Speaker 1: if they're flying high, we don't need to shoot him down.
- 26:35Speaker 1: That's the logic that this administration is used. And now
- 26:39Speaker 1: they're backed themselves in the corner where they got to
- 26:41Speaker 1: shoot down all of these, right, all of these and
- 26:46Speaker 1: then you have Democrats are still being stupid. I'm gonna
- 26:50Speaker 1: end with this. Jake Tapper had on the governor of Michigan,
- 26:55Speaker 1: Gretchen Whitmer. All this is happening. One of these balloons
- 26:59Speaker 1: is now shot down over her state where she's the
- 27:03Speaker 1: governor from, and Greshen Whitmer is still out there using TikTok.
- 27:09Speaker 1: The FBI has now said, and the CIA and others
- 27:12Speaker 1: have said very clearly that TikTok is something that should
- 27:16Speaker 1: be banned from government devices. More than half of the
- 27:19Speaker 1: states in the country of now banned TikTok from government
- 27:21Speaker 1: devices because it's clearly a spying apparatus for China and
- 27:25Speaker 1: this idiot governor and this is all encompassing of the
- 27:29Speaker 1: White House and the Democratic Party right now in these
- 27:31Speaker 1: spy balloons. She knows, and she's been warned by the FBI,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and she's still using TikTok. Folks, Listen. Last month, Wisconsin
- 27:41Speaker 1: Governor Tony Evers banned TikTok from governor devices, seeing the
- 27:45Speaker 1: quote defending our states technology and cybersecurity infrastructure and protecting
- 27:48Speaker 1: digital privacy was a top priority. More than half of
- 27:51Speaker 1: the states have taken similar steps. You're active on TikTok,
- 27:56Speaker 1: and I get it. It's fun, But I deleted my
- 27:58Speaker 1: app from my phone because how many people kept coming
- 28:00Speaker 1: on my show saying delete it, deleted, deleted. The Chinese
- 28:03Speaker 1: government has access to your data. Is it appropriate for
- 28:06Speaker 1: you to be on TikTok when FBI says it's a
- 28:09Speaker 1: national security concern? Let me say this. We use TikTok
- 28:12Speaker 1: on one device that has nothing else on it. It
- 28:15Speaker 1: is a communication tool. We don't do it because it's fun.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Although some people think what I put out there can
- 28:19Speaker 1: be fun on occasion, my kids disagree. I don't buy that.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You don't have fun during TikTok. But the point is
- 28:26Speaker 1: we have it on one device that has no access
- 28:29Speaker 1: to anything else because so many people get their information
- 28:32Speaker 1: that way, whether we like it or not. That is
- 28:34Speaker 1: a tool for disseminating important information and that's how we
- 28:38Speaker 1: use it. But we're always evaluating because we want to
- 28:40Speaker 1: make sure that we are protecting data in Michigan, and
- 28:44Speaker 1: that's why we're always evaluating. But at this point, the
- 28:47Speaker 1: way we use it is is secure. Do you think
- 28:50Speaker 1: it's safer kids to be on TikTok, because, I mean,
- 28:52Speaker 1: one of the concerns there was a great sixteen minutes
- 28:54Speaker 1: report showing that the version of TikTok that the Chinese
- 28:57Speaker 1: have there's a there's a time limit, it's educational, and
- 29:02Speaker 1: the version that we have in this country, there are
- 29:04Speaker 1: a lot of concerns that reaffirms eating disorders and other
- 29:07Speaker 1: harmful messages. Yeah, I'm concerned about a lot of ways
- 29:10Speaker 1: that social media is curated and drags people down rabbit
- 29:13Speaker 1: holes in this country. We need to, you know, have
- 29:16Speaker 1: some congressional you know, measures taken to ensure that there
- 29:21Speaker 1: is some integrity in it. But also we got to
- 29:23Speaker 1: teach our kids that this is not a real robust
- 29:27Speaker 1: offering of information for you to distill and make your
- 29:30Speaker 1: own decisions. This is biased and it can be incredibly toxic. So,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I mean, this is again a great example of the
- 29:38Speaker 1: Democratic Party showing how stupid they are. She's like, all right,
- 29:44Speaker 1: I believe that you should still use a device that
- 29:46Speaker 1: we don't trust enough. So we've isolated our TikTok device
- 29:49Speaker 1: on one, you know, basically phone that is used for
- 29:53Speaker 1: nothing else but TikTok. So that clearly is her admitting
- 29:56Speaker 1: it's not safe, but then saying it's safe. She said,
- 29:58Speaker 1: it's a great way to communicate. So I'm going to
- 30:00Speaker 1: use the Chinese to communicate with the people in Michigan.
- 30:02Speaker 1: That's what she's saying. And then she's saying, I know
- 30:04Speaker 1: that the Chinese don't even allow their kids to use
- 30:07Speaker 1: TikTok the way that our kids are using TikTok for
- 30:10Speaker 1: all the reasons that we're just listened, but I'm going
- 30:12Speaker 1: to keep using it and keep making the Chinese not
- 30:16Speaker 1: only financially rich, but also have more access to all
- 30:22Speaker 1: of our information to spy on us. This is the
- 30:25Speaker 1: problem with the Democratic Party. This is why they allow
- 30:29Speaker 1: balloons to fly over our country, and the only reason
- 30:31Speaker 1: why they're now shooting them down is because of the
- 30:33Speaker 1: massive outrage from the people in this country. We're going
- 30:38Speaker 1: to keep covering this issue. It's not going to go
