- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome in his verdicous center, Ted Cruz Ben Ferguson with you,
- 0:04Speaker 1: and it's so nice to have you with us. If
- 0:06Speaker 1: you're listening on a radio station around the country, Welcome.
- 0:09Speaker 1: We do this show as a reminder as a podcast
- 0:11Speaker 1: as well, so you can grab that podcast three days
- 0:14Speaker 1: a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday, especially if you're listening
- 0:17Speaker 1: to us on radio stations across the country.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Center.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We have got a lot to talk about in this show,
- 0:22Speaker 1: including a major breakthrough in the pipe bomb case in DC.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Well after nearly five years, the pipe Bomber, the alleged
- 0:29Speaker 2: pipe bomber who planted pipe bombs at the DNC and
- 0:34Speaker 2: the RNC on January fifth, twenty twenty one, has been arrested.
- 0:39Speaker 2: The FBI announced they've arrested The Department of Justice announced
- 0:42Speaker 2: they've arrested him. His name is Brian J. Cole Junior,
- 0:48Speaker 2: thirty years old of Woodridge, Virginia. He was arrested. The
- 0:52Speaker 2: FBI laid out considerable evidence they have. It raises the
- 0:55Speaker 2: immediate question, why the heck did this take five years
- 0:58Speaker 2: to find this guy? Because the evidence they had it
- 1:01Speaker 2: sounds like they've had for a long long time. Which
- 1:05Speaker 2: obviously begs the question what was the Biden Department of
- 1:08Speaker 2: Justice doing that they were not arresting this guy. We're
- 1:11Speaker 2: gonna break all that down for you. We're also going
- 1:13Speaker 2: to talk about three major events I had this week
- 1:17Speaker 2: at the White House. Monday, I was at the White
- 1:20Speaker 2: House where the President signed a bill, the Metal Act,
- 1:23Speaker 2: that I authored into law. Tuesday, I was at the
- 1:25Speaker 2: White House where the President and I both were joined
- 1:28Speaker 2: with Michael Dell, who gave six and a quarter billion
- 1:32Speaker 2: dollars to kids of America to put into Trump accounts.
- 1:36Speaker 2: It was incredible generosity. And then Wednesday, I was at
- 1:40Speaker 2: the White House with the President as he was announcing
- 1:44Speaker 2: that he was zeroing out cafe standards, again legislation that
- 1:47Speaker 2: I authored. We're going to tell you about all three
- 1:49Speaker 2: of those. The cafe standards are going to make cars
- 1:53Speaker 2: and trucks cheaper for you and also save lives and
- 1:55Speaker 2: make you safe. For all of that we're covering in
- 1:57Speaker 2: today's podcast.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really in credible what the President did for
- 2:01Speaker 1: Americans this week. Let me take a moment and tell
- 2:03Speaker 1: you real quick about an amazing adventure that we're going
- 2:06Speaker 1: to be going on. And I want to invite you

- 2:12Speaker 1: I share a passion for history, so I hope you'll
- 2:15Speaker 1: join me next spring on the D Day Beaches in Normandy.
- 2:19Speaker 1: That's right, the invasion that sealed Hitler's doom, Omaha and Utah.

- 2:42Speaker 1: seven and that includes your airfare. You're going to stand
- 2:45Speaker 1: at General Patton's Gravesite, Bastone, Print Duhauc and Mulberry Harbor.

- 3:22Speaker 1: shah Ze Lese.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So center, let's go to this.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It really is shocking that it took this long to
- 3:28Speaker 1: find someone that planted pipe bombs in Washington, d C.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It is very important that people understand this did not
- 3:36Speaker 1: happen because of a new tip that came into the
- 3:40Speaker 1: FBI or into law enforcement anywhere. This was just going
- 3:43Speaker 1: back and looking at the evidence they already had and
- 3:46Speaker 1: doing real police work to figure it out. It is
- 3:50Speaker 1: shocking that the prior administration did not apparently think this
- 3:53Speaker 1: was an important enough issue, and this administration did. And
- 3:57Speaker 1: now we know who did it.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 2: The deal announced that during twenty nineteen and twenty twenty,
- 4:03Speaker 2: Cole purchased multiple components consisted with those used to manufacture
- 4:08Speaker 2: the pipe bombs at several retailers in northern Virginia, so
- 4:11Speaker 2: they have his purchase history, and at approximately one pm
- 4:15Speaker 2: on January sixth, multiple law enforcement agencies received notice of
- 4:20Speaker 2: the pipe bombs. At about one point fifteen pm, the
- 4:25Speaker 2: second pipe bomb was reported, the first one at the RNC,
- 4:27Speaker 2: the second one at the DNC. Video surveillance determined that
- 4:32Speaker 2: this same individual placed the devices the evening of January fifth.
- 4:37Speaker 2: On January fifth, about seven to ten pm, Cole's Nissan
- 4:41Speaker 2: CenTra was observed driving past a license plate reader at
- 4:45Speaker 2: the South Capitol Street exit from I thirty five South,
- 4:48Speaker 2: which is less than a half mile from the location
- 4:50Speaker 2: where the pipe bombs were. Cell Phone records further show
- 4:53Speaker 2: that Cole's cell phone communicated with cell towers in the
- 4:57Speaker 2: area of the RNC and DNC I mean seven thirty
- 5:01Speaker 2: nine pm and eight twenty four pm. This evidence, there's
- 5:05Speaker 2: no reason to think that this evidence wasn't in the
- 5:09Speaker 2: possession of the FBI four and a half years ago,
- 5:12Speaker 2: and it is infuriating. It. It raises a real question,
- 5:16Speaker 2: what the hell was the Biden DOJ doing. Well, I'll
- 5:19Speaker 2: tell you what they were doing. They were chasing down
- 5:22Speaker 2: every little old lady who stood on the National Mall
- 5:24Speaker 2: and sang God bless America. And they were persecuting them
- 5:28Speaker 2: and trying to go after their political enemies instead of
- 5:31Speaker 2: actually going after a violent criminal who planted pipe bombs
- 5:35Speaker 2: that could have killed or injured a whole lot of people.
- 5:40Speaker 2: You and I on this podcast repeatedly called on the
- 5:42Speaker 2: Department of Justice go and find and prosecute the pipe bomber. Now, look,
- 5:47Speaker 2: at this point, we don't know full details about this individual,
- 5:51Speaker 2: but he certainly does not appear to be a Trump supporter,
- 5:57Speaker 2: which is of course what every report, what every media
- 6:02Speaker 2: outlet blamed it on Trump supporters these pipe bombs, and
- 6:06Speaker 2: based on the early information, there are no indications that
- 6:09Speaker 2: he was a Trump supporter.
- 6:10Speaker 1: In fact, the early information is and if it holds
- 6:13Speaker 1: to be true, is it complete opposite of that that
- 6:16Speaker 1: this was a radical leftist.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Now now it's still early, and so what we
- 6:20Speaker 2: We'll find out more facts in the days going forward,
- 6:23Speaker 2: But I want you to listen to Pam Bondi when
- 6:24Speaker 2: she was announcing the arrest.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Early this morning. Brian Cole Junior was arrested and charged
- 6:32Speaker 4: with placing the pipe bombs at the RNC and the
- 6:36Speaker 4: DNC on January fifth, twenty twenty one. He has been
- 6:40Speaker 4: charged with violating eighteen USC. Eight forty four, which is
- 6:45Speaker 4: use of an explosive device. This investigation is ongoing as
- 6:50Speaker 4: we speak, search warrants are being executed, and there could
- 6:54Speaker 4: be more charges to come. Today's arrest happened because the
- 6:59Speaker 4: Trump administry has made this case a priority. The total
- 7:05Speaker 4: lack of movement on this case, this cold case languished
- 7:10Speaker 4: for four years until Director Patel and Deputy Director Bongino
- 7:17Speaker 4: came to the FBI. The FBI, along with US Attorney
- 7:23Speaker 4: Piro and all of our prosecutors have worked tirelessly for
- 7:28Speaker 4: months sifting through evidence that had been sitting at the
- 7:33Speaker 4: FBI with the Biden administration.
- 7:36Speaker 2: For four long years.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Let me be clear, there was no new tip, There
- 7:42Speaker 4: was no new witness, just good diligent police work and
- 7:47Speaker 4: prosecutorial work.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You listen to Pambonni there, Senator, and it is clear
- 7:52Speaker 1: she's angry, and Americans should be angry.
- 7:55Speaker 2: There was nothing new here.
- 7:57Speaker 1: They just took what they had and did their job well.
- 8:01Speaker 2: And I'll tell you Merrick Garland needs to be held
- 8:03Speaker 2: accountable and answer the question why, if they had this evidence,
- 8:07Speaker 2: this individual wasn't arrested and wasn't prosecuted. Chris Ray, the
- 8:11Speaker 2: former director of the FBI, needs to answer that same question,
- 8:14Speaker 2: because it certainly appears that the Biden dooj did not
- 8:19Speaker 2: want to find this individual. It was not a priority,
- 8:24Speaker 2: and when they were asked about it before, they would
- 8:26Speaker 2: just throw up their hands and say we're doing the
- 8:28Speaker 2: best we can. It turns out when you actually have
- 8:30Speaker 2: an Attorney general who is focused on going after the
- 8:33Speaker 2: bad guys. That's exactly what you do, Senator.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I want to also just go back to echoing the
- 8:39Speaker 1: part that you mentioned there about Pam Bondy and she's angry.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Dan Bongino came out saying very much the same thing,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and I want to play it for everybody because when
- 8:48Speaker 1: he came out, not only was he saying, hey, I
- 8:51Speaker 1: want to say thank you to everybody on this team
- 8:54Speaker 1: because this was teamwork, but this was also a moment
- 8:57Speaker 1: where we just decided to do our jobs. And when
- 8:59Speaker 1: you let law enforcement do their jobs, these are the
- 9:03Speaker 1: types of results that you get. Take a list in
- 9:05Speaker 1: to bon Gino in his own words, folks, this is.
- 9:07Speaker 5: What it's like when you work for a president who
- 9:09Speaker 5: tells you to go get the bad guys and stop
- 9:11Speaker 5: focusing on other extraneous things not related to law enforcement.
- 9:15Speaker 5: This is what happens. We had a great team. I
- 9:17Speaker 5: know it's said a lot in this business. It was
- 9:19Speaker 5: a team effort. Becomes cliche, but cliches are useful for
- 9:22Speaker 5: a reason because they matter, and this was a team effort.
- 9:26Speaker 5: The Director and the Attorney General emphasized that it was
- 9:28Speaker 5: not a new public tip. This came from. This was
- 9:31Speaker 5: our internal work at the FBI, and I want to
- 9:35Speaker 5: just really express my sincere gratitude to this Attorney General
- 9:40Speaker 5: and this president for allowing us the latitude. I spoke
- 9:43Speaker 5: with Mss Bondi very early when we maybe day two,
- 9:47Speaker 5: and I said, we're going to get this guy, and
- 9:49Speaker 5: she said, as you are, and we did. I want
- 9:52Speaker 5: also thank you, not here but Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche,
- 9:55Speaker 5: who we deal with often as well, who could not
- 9:57Speaker 5: have been more supportive whatever process we need. Judge Janine
- 10:02Speaker 5: Todd and an Attorney General Bondi, they were there. All
- 10:06Speaker 5: you had to do. They were a phone call away,
- 10:08Speaker 5: and their team was amazing. We actually never had to
- 10:10Speaker 5: make that phone call because they were always responsive. Thank you, Judge,
- 10:13Speaker 5: as while you were amazing folks, You're not going to
- 10:17Speaker 5: walk into our capital city, put down two explosive devices
- 10:22Speaker 5: and walk off in the sunset. Not going to happen.
- 10:26Speaker 5: We were going to track this person to the end
- 10:28Speaker 5: of the earth. There was no way he was getting away. Well,
- 10:31Speaker 5: we didn't have to track him to the end of
- 10:33Speaker 5: the earth. That wound up in Woodbridge, Virginia. I want
- 10:36Speaker 5: to thank the team. They were amazing. They never let
- 10:39Speaker 5: this go again. Attorney General Bondi, for your incredible support,
- 10:44Speaker 5: Director Patel Judge. I know they're giving me a lot
- 10:48Speaker 5: of unnecessary credit, but make no mistake, they were intimately
- 10:51Speaker 5: involved in this and were there for all of those
- 10:53Speaker 5: supportive mechanisms, and I deeply appreciate it.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You listen there to not only the way that Pambondi
- 11:01Speaker 1: talked about it, but also Dan Bonino, and they are
- 11:04Speaker 1: echoing the same thing. I think there's two points here
- 11:07Speaker 1: that I want to get you to expand on. Number One,
- 11:09Speaker 1: this is just letting law enforcement do their job and
- 11:12Speaker 1: not do political operative jobs, which is what they clearly
- 11:16Speaker 1: were being told to do after January sixth. Go find
- 11:18Speaker 1: the grandmothers, Go find anybody was there, find anybody that
- 11:21Speaker 1: was associated with anything in and around the Capitol, and
- 11:24Speaker 1: then go hunt them down. Forget the actual terrorist, a
- 11:26Speaker 1: guy making pipe bombs. But also there's a team work
- 11:30Speaker 1: here that I have not seen in a very long
- 11:33Speaker 1: time in law enforcement. It's not conservative, it's just law
- 11:36Speaker 1: enforcement working together. I love hearing that. It makes me
- 11:40Speaker 1: feel as an American that they're on my side trying
- 11:42Speaker 1: to keep me safe.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Well, this is law enforcement actually doing their jobs targeting
- 11:47Speaker 2: violent criminals. This is the Department of Justice and the FBI.
- 11:50Speaker 2: And if you look this past year under President Trump,
- 11:53Speaker 2: DOJ and the FBI, they've been going after murderers and
- 11:57Speaker 2: rapists and child molesters. They've been going after gang and
- 12:00Speaker 2: illegal aliens and human traffickers. They've been going after narco traffickers.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I got to say, if you're down in Venezuela and
- 12:07Speaker 2: anyone asks you to drive a speedboat with some drugs
- 12:10Speaker 2: in the back, you know you may just call in
- 12:12Speaker 2: sick that day because it doesn't turn out too It's
- 12:14Speaker 2: a fishing boat.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Senator, Come on, now, don't you know you need seven
- 12:17Speaker 1: engines and a whole lot of cocaine to do good
- 12:20Speaker 1: fish heating.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Come on, it is. They are systematically focused on violent criminals, including,
- 12:26Speaker 2: as Dan Bongino just said, someone who planted two pipe
- 12:32Speaker 2: bombs in the middle of Washington, d C. That's what
- 12:35Speaker 2: law enforcement is supposed to do. It's not supposed to
- 12:37Speaker 2: do what it did under Biden, which is be a
- 12:40Speaker 2: political arm to target and prosecute and persecute your political opponents.
- 12:45Speaker 2: And and look Pambondi and cash Battel and Dan Bongino
- 12:49Speaker 2: all came in with a mission of restoring integrity to
- 12:52Speaker 2: the Department of Justice and the FBI. I think today
- 12:54Speaker 2: was an important step in that journey.
- 12:57Speaker 1: You know, there's a lot of good men and women
- 12:58Speaker 1: that work of the FBI, and I think this is
- 13:00Speaker 1: a perfect moment center where we should just highlight this.
- 13:05Speaker 1: There are a lot of people that just want to
- 13:07Speaker 1: do law enforcement. And what I do think you're now
- 13:10Speaker 1: witnessing is the good men and women in uniform in
- 13:15Speaker 1: multiple levels, whether it's local or state, whether it's dealing
- 13:18Speaker 1: with illegal.
- 13:19Speaker 2: That's right, But listen, there were also too many people
- 13:23Speaker 2: who were politicized and who were obstructing justice, who were
- 13:27Speaker 2: standing in the way. He know what, there are people
- 13:30Speaker 2: who were at the FBI, who were at DOJ who
- 13:32Speaker 2: knew of this evidence and they didn't act, And I
- 13:36Speaker 2: think we have every right to get answers to why
- 13:40Speaker 2: didn't they act and was there a political or partisan agenda?
- 13:44Speaker 1: That was my question is there's good men and women
- 13:47Speaker 1: that are now clearly getting to do their job. There's
- 13:50Speaker 1: clearly was leadership and those that didn't want this job
- 13:54Speaker 1: to be done. That's literally the question I was about
- 13:58Speaker 1: to ask you, what is it howount ability look like
- 14:01Speaker 1: now for those that may still be there that obviously
- 14:04Speaker 1: knew they had this information and they said on it
- 14:07Speaker 1: or deliberately said don't go find this.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Person, well look, i'll tell you. One of the very
- 14:12Speaker 2: first steps is they need to be brought in before
- 14:15Speaker 2: Congress to answer questions under oath and answer questions under
- 14:18Speaker 2: oath about why they didn't act on this evidence. Did
- 14:21Speaker 2: they have it, when did they have it, and why
- 14:23Speaker 2: didn't they act? And and I think that.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Direct step to ask that's what I want to know.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I want to know if this was a straight up
- 14:29Speaker 1: directive of hey, leave this alone.
- 14:31Speaker 2: And by the way, the current DOJ and FBI, if
- 14:35Speaker 2: they were directed not to act, and it is in writing,
- 14:38Speaker 2: the current DOJ and FBI have that email or that memorandum,
- 14:42Speaker 2: and I expect the DOJ and FBI to provide those
- 14:46Speaker 2: to Congress, provide those to the public. What I've urged
- 14:49Speaker 2: Pambondi and Cash Bettel and Dan Bongino is radical transparency
- 14:55Speaker 2: is the best cure for the politicization and the corruption
- 14:59Speaker 2: we saw DOJ and the FBI under Joe Biden.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be very interesting to see what
- 15:04Speaker 1: we get out of this. What I also say is
- 15:07Speaker 1: this is exactly what I voted for. I wanted law
- 15:10Speaker 1: enforcement to actually be winning again and do their job
- 15:13Speaker 1: and not be politicized and not be weaponized for political reasons.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I think there's so many Americans and I don't care
- 15:19Speaker 1: if you're a Republican or a Democrat. You should sleep
- 15:21Speaker 1: better knowing this makes all us safer. Yeah, we're all safer.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Like this was a pipe bom at the Republican and
- 15:27Speaker 1: Democratic Convention. You know, buildings, there's people that could have
- 15:31Speaker 1: been there that could have been killed of every party, every.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Marketing criminals, locking up criminals, protects our families. It keeps
- 15:39Speaker 2: ourselves and our children safer. That is a very good thing.
- 15:43Speaker 2: That is the President delivering on his promises.
- 15:48Speaker 1: All right, So Center on Monday, I just want to
- 15:51Speaker 1: make this very clear. You were at the White House.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I didn't get invitedn't, But I thought Tuesday I'd clear
- 15:57Speaker 1: my schedule. No, No, Tuesday didn't invited. And then I'm like, well,
- 16:00Speaker 1: surely he's saving it for Wednesday because Wednesday is going
- 16:03Speaker 1: to be a better day. I'm still waiting. I'm three
- 16:06Speaker 1: days Center, you're there, three days. I was sitting here
- 16:08Speaker 1: just waiting for Hey, Ben, you should come with me
- 16:10Speaker 1: over here to the White House. You've been there before.
- 16:12Speaker 1: It's a great place. We're going to celebrate America's work.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Monday Tuesday went like, how many days if you go
- 16:18Speaker 1: five days in a row do I get the invite?
- 16:19Speaker 2: I just got to know, Well, look, I'm confident you
- 16:21Speaker 2: were playing golf, and that's okay, that's that that that
- 16:23Speaker 2: that's good for you to do, and and and you
- 16:25Speaker 2: only have you you only have another couple of months
- 16:28Speaker 2: that you can still beat your young sons and they're
- 16:30Speaker 2: still going to be able to just whip you up
- 16:32Speaker 2: and down the golf course.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Uh.
- 16:34Speaker 2: But look this this was a busy week. This was
- 16:36Speaker 2: a busy week. I had three different events at the
- 16:38Speaker 2: White House, one on Monday, one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Each was a different major announcement. So it was a
- 16:44Speaker 2: very productive week. Monday, it started out with the President
- 16:48Speaker 2: signing into law the Medals Act. The Medals Act is
- 16:50Speaker 2: a bill that I wrote that deals with Medal of
- 16:53Speaker 2: Honor recipients. Medal of Honor recipients are those service servicemen
- 16:58Speaker 2: who who have distinguished themselves with exceptional valor. They're only
- 17:04Speaker 2: sixty one living Medal of Honor recipients. The vast majority
- 17:09Speaker 2: of Medal Honor recipients they received the medal posthumously. In
- 17:15Speaker 2: most of the instances, they lose their lives demonstrating extraordinary
- 17:19Speaker 2: heroism and bravery. Under existing law, Medal of Honor recipients
- 17:25Speaker 2: receive a monthly stipend of one four hundred dollars a month.
- 17:30Speaker 2: That's not very much money. What the Medals Act did
- 17:34Speaker 2: is essentially triple that amount. So it increased it from
- 17:38Speaker 2: one thousand, four hundred dollars a month to five thousand,
- 17:41Speaker 2: six hundred dollars a month. And so I authored that
- 17:45Speaker 2: legislation in the Senate. It passed the Senate unanimously, it
- 17:49Speaker 2: passed the House unanimously, and then on Monday, the President
- 17:53Speaker 2: signed it in the law. We were joined by three
- 17:55Speaker 2: Medal of Honor recipients who were there. And I'll tell
- 17:58Speaker 2: you one of the reasons it it's so meaningful a
- 18:02Speaker 2: to to say thank you, thank you to these incredible
- 18:06Speaker 2: real life heroes.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Amen.
- 18:08Speaker 2: But b many of these Medal of Honor recipients take
- 18:13Speaker 2: their time, they go around talking to schools, they go
- 18:15Speaker 2: around talking uh, talking to sebastatherings. They inspire people, and
- 18:20Speaker 2: that takes a lot of time, and this stipend gives
- 18:23Speaker 2: gives them an ability to have some basic monicum of income.
- 18:28Speaker 2: And so it was really glad to see. It took
- 18:30Speaker 2: about two years to get this done, to build the
- 18:32Speaker 2: bipartisan support to move it through Congress. The President has
- 18:35Speaker 2: signed it, and and we're now giving those Medal of
- 18:39Speaker 2: Honor recipients the respect that they are due.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I got to say when you said it was unanimous,
- 18:43Speaker 1: we haven't said that word on this show in years.
- 18:46Speaker 2: That is really cool.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It does give me just a little bit of hope
- 18:50Speaker 1: that people realize that when you sacrifice the way these
- 18:54Speaker 1: recipients do, you deserve to be taken care of afterwards
- 18:57Speaker 1: as well well.
- 18:59Speaker 2: And and when when I passed it on the floor
- 19:00Speaker 2: of the Senate, several of the Medal Honor recipients had
- 19:03Speaker 2: come come to the Senate and they were sitting in
- 19:05Speaker 2: the gallery watching it. And and afterwards we were down
- 19:09Speaker 2: at the bottom of the Senate steps and a group
- 19:13Speaker 2: of of eighth graders, eighth grade kids came by. I
- 19:17Speaker 2: think they were from Michigan, if I remember correctly. And
- 19:19Speaker 2: they spotted me, and some of them recognized me, and
- 19:22Speaker 2: so they came up and wanted to take pictures and
- 19:24Speaker 2: talk and and I told them, look, I'm happy to
- 19:27Speaker 2: chat with you, but I said, I want to introduce
- 19:29Speaker 2: you to these two gentlemen I'm standing with because both
- 19:33Speaker 2: of them earned the Medal of Honor by risking their lives,
- 19:38Speaker 2: nearly dying and saving the lives of their fellow servicemen
- 19:42Speaker 2: and women. And I will tell you, Ben, the look
- 19:44Speaker 2: of wonderment in these little boy and little girl's faces
- 19:48Speaker 2: as they listened to these these heroes tell their story.
- 19:53Speaker 2: It gave a great opportunity for me just to step
- 19:55Speaker 2: back and recede and watch that moment inspiration right there
- 20:01Speaker 2: at the base of the steps of the Senate.
- 20:03Speaker 1: That's incredible. And that was just Monday. So Tuesday, you
- 20:05Speaker 1: have this big victory on Monday. That's bipartisan. What a
- 20:09Speaker 1: great way to start the week. You rarely get to
- 20:11Speaker 1: do that in your whole career. Tuesday you're back of
- 20:13Speaker 1: the White House.
- 20:14Speaker 2: What happened then, So Tuesday was a massive announcement. We've
- 20:18Speaker 2: talked before about the Trump Accounts. The Trump Accounts is
- 20:21Speaker 2: legislation that I authored. It was part of the one
- 20:24Speaker 2: Big Beautiful Bill.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Man.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I want to remind people what I do. Want to
- 20:28Speaker 1: brag on you for a second. This could have been
- 20:30Speaker 1: taken out of the Big Beautiful Bill. You felt so
- 20:33Speaker 1: strongly about it center. You did not let this get
- 20:37Speaker 1: kicked out. You didn't let it go. You fought tooth
- 20:40Speaker 1: and nail, and it was a hard fight. I want
- 20:42Speaker 1: to also make that very clear. This was not an
- 20:43Speaker 1: easy fight because you felt like this could be so
- 20:47Speaker 1: transformative in one generation, to building well for all Americans
- 20:52Speaker 1: and giving kids an incredible opportunity to grow and to
- 20:55Speaker 1: invest early on. There's so many things. I hope you
- 20:58Speaker 1: go back from investing. I talked to one banker about
- 21:00Speaker 1: this week. He said, you know, the number one reason
- 21:02Speaker 1: why people don't invest when they're younger, or when they
- 21:05Speaker 1: don't feel like they make a lot of minds. They're
- 21:07Speaker 1: embarrassed to go in and open an account with a
- 21:09Speaker 1: small amount of money, so they just don't do it.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And he said, we believe. He said, I'm almost into
- 21:14Speaker 1: my banking career. This could transform an entire nation and
- 21:18Speaker 1: a generation into not being afraid to open account but
- 21:22Speaker 1: embracing it, watching it grow having ownership of it and
- 21:26Speaker 1: seeing the power of compound interests. And I haven't seen
- 21:29Speaker 1: bankers get giddy very often. This banker was genuinely giddy
- 21:34Speaker 1: for the future, Countess.
- 21:35Speaker 2: And I'll tell you, Ben, it's not just compound interest,
- 21:37Speaker 2: it's compound growth. Because these accounts will be invested in
- 21:42Speaker 2: the S and P. Five hundred, they're invested in the
- 21:43Speaker 2: stock market. Every kid in America is going to become
- 21:46Speaker 2: an owner of the biggest employers in America. That's transformative.
- 21:50Speaker 2: That's making a whole new generation of capitalists.
- 21:53Speaker 3: You know.
- 21:53Speaker 2: At the White House on Tuesday, I told President Trump,
- 21:56Speaker 2: I said, all of your credits. Your critics will never
- 21:59Speaker 2: give you credit. There is a good argument that you
- 22:03Speaker 2: have done more for kids in America than any president
- 22:06Speaker 2: in our lifetime. Why is that because he number one
- 22:09Speaker 2: signed the School Choice Provision, which which I had the
- 22:12Speaker 2: great honor of writing and putting in the one big,
- 22:14Speaker 2: beautiful bill that will unleash tens of billions of dollars
- 22:18Speaker 2: in scholarships for kids in K through twelve education all
- 22:21Speaker 2: across the country. And number two, he signed it a law.
- 22:24Speaker 2: The Trump accounts and that impact together, I think you
- 22:28Speaker 2: could say there's never been a president that has impacted
- 22:30Speaker 2: kids more. Here's how I explained it at the press
- 22:34Speaker 2: conference with the President. Starting on July fourth, every child
- 22:38Speaker 2: in America will have a personal investment account opened for them.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Newborn children will have it seated with one thousand dollars.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Parents and family and employers can contribute up to five
- 22:48Speaker 2: thousand a year and a tax advantaged account. That money
- 22:52Speaker 2: will be invested in the S and P five hundred
- 22:54Speaker 2: and the stock market broad based Equity Index account. Two
- 22:59Speaker 2: massive benefits that change this country. Number One, every child
- 23:02Speaker 2: in America will experience the benefits of compound growth. Take
- 23:07Speaker 2: a little girl born next year. She's born next year,
- 23:11Speaker 2: she has the account opened for her. One thousand dollars
- 23:14Speaker 2: is automatically seated. Her parents or family or an employer
- 23:17Speaker 2: puts five thousand a year each year into that account.
- 23:21Speaker 2: If you assume the historic rate of growth of the
- 23:23Speaker 2: S and P five hundred, which is seven percent a year,
- 23:26Speaker 2: by the time that little girl is eighteen, she will
- 23:29Speaker 2: have one hundred and seventy thousand dollars in that account.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And if she keeps saving, by the time that little
- 23:36Speaker 2: girl is thirty five, she will have seven hundred thousand
- 23:41Speaker 2: dollars in that account. That is game changing. And we're
- 23:45Speaker 2: not talking the children of Michael and Susan Dell, the
- 23:47Speaker 2: children of Donald Trump, the children of people of great success.
- 23:50Speaker 2: We're talking the kids of a single mom waiting tables,
- 23:54Speaker 2: who could have seven hundred thousand dollars saved by the
- 23:56Speaker 2: time she's thirty five, to get an education, to start
- 23:59Speaker 2: a business, to buy a house. That changes their whole lives.
- 24:03Speaker 2: But the second benefit, and what I'm really excited about,
- 24:07Speaker 2: is we are creating a new generation of capitalists. Every
- 24:12Speaker 2: child in America is going to be an owner of
- 24:14Speaker 2: the biggest employers in this country. We've all seen the
- 24:18Speaker 2: sad statistics of how many kids are losing faith in capitalism. Well,
- 24:23Speaker 2: ten years from now, a little boy is going to
- 24:25Speaker 2: pull out his phone and he's going to look at
- 24:26Speaker 2: his app and he's going to see his Trump account,
- 24:30Speaker 2: And instead of thinking of big, bad, scary corporations, that
- 24:33Speaker 2: little boy is going to say, I own fifty bucks
- 24:36Speaker 2: of Apple, I own one hundred bucks of Dell, I
- 24:39Speaker 2: own seventy five bucks of McDonald's. And every child is
- 24:43Speaker 2: an owner of the biggest employers in this country. That
- 24:46Speaker 2: will transform this country. Mister President, thank you for signing it.
- 24:51Speaker 1: You know you just said something there at that speech
- 24:54Speaker 1: the White House Center that I also think is incredible,
- 24:57Speaker 1: the private sector getting in on this in wanting to
- 25:00Speaker 1: see these accounts. Michael Dell his wife there, they gave
- 25:03Speaker 1: an incredible amount of money because they want kids to succeed.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Well, Michael and Susan Dell made an historic announcement. And
- 25:10Speaker 2: the way I wrote the legislation creating the Trump accounts,
- 25:13Speaker 2: it's designed to allow people, philanthropy to charity to give
- 25:18Speaker 2: into the accounts. And what Michael and Susan Dell announced
- 25:21Speaker 2: at the White House on Tuesday is they were personally
- 25:25Speaker 2: giving out of their own resources, six and a quarter
- 25:29Speaker 2: billion dollars. And what they're doing in particular is they're
- 25:33Speaker 2: giving two hundred and fifty dollars for the two hundred
- 25:36Speaker 2: and fiftieth anniversary of America to every child in America
- 25:40Speaker 2: under age ten who lives in a zip code where
- 25:44Speaker 2: the median income is one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 25:46Speaker 2: or less. And so it is a massive gift. And
- 25:50Speaker 2: I think Michael and Susan are just the first. I
- 25:52Speaker 2: think you're going to see many other companies, many other
- 25:55Speaker 2: individuals giving and giving early, allowing kids to begin to
- 26:00Speaker 2: accumulating assets and get them to grow. That is powerful
- 26:04Speaker 2: and it is an accelerant. Mark my words, Ben in it.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Within a decade we will have over a trillion dollars
- 26:10Speaker 2: invested in these Trump accounts and it's going to totally
- 26:13Speaker 2: transform the future of our kids. It's a big, big deal.
- 26:16Speaker 1: In communities around the world, millions of children like Lucy
- 26:21Speaker 1: faced the crushing weight of poverty, hunger, illness, and a
- 26:25Speaker 1: lack of opportunity dim their bright futures. But through Compassion
- 26:30Speaker 1: International and local churches, everything is changing. Lucy receives nourishing food,
- 26:37Speaker 1: vital medical care, and the chance to go to school.
- 26:40Speaker 1: She learns life skills, develops God given talents, and builds
- 26:44Speaker 1: a loving relationship with Jesus. It's a journey from vulnerability
- 26:48Speaker 1: to empowerment, and it's sparked literally by your love. This
- 26:52Speaker 1: transformation echoes far beyond Lucy, impacting her family, the community,
- 26:57Speaker 1: and shaping the future of her nation. And you can
- 27:00Speaker 1: make this profound difference right now. So join me in
- 27:04Speaker 1: sponsoring a child. Visit Compassion dot com today. You'll empower
- 27:09Speaker 1: life and change the world. That's compassion dot com to
- 27:14Speaker 1: learn more center. On Wednesday, you were at the White
- 27:17Speaker 1: House for a really cool moment, and that was President
- 27:21Speaker 1: Trump saying I want government to get out of your
- 27:23Speaker 1: way and stop making things so expensive for you, specifically cars.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Having a reset of cafe standards that were out of control.
- 27:31Speaker 1: That is going to lower the costs of cars for
- 27:34Speaker 1: many Americans. We're also getting rid of the obsession with
- 27:36Speaker 1: a mandate for ev vehicles, which the Democrats were hell
- 27:40Speaker 1: bent on, and this is going to again make cars
- 27:43Speaker 1: more to affordable for Americans. Everyone should be excited about that.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Well, that's exactly right. After spending Monday at the White
- 27:50Speaker 2: House with the President while he was signing my legislation
- 27:53Speaker 2: tripling the monthly stipend for Medal of Honor recipients. After
- 27:57Speaker 2: spending Tuesday at the White House with the President and
- 27:59Speaker 2: Michaelson and Susan Dell giving six and a quarter billion
- 28:02Speaker 2: dollars to the Kids of America for Trump accounts, on Wednesday,
- 28:06Speaker 2: I joined the President again, this time with the CEOs
- 28:09Speaker 2: of the major auto companies in the United States. As
- 28:12Speaker 2: the President was implementing legislation and provision again that I
- 28:17Speaker 2: wrote zeroing out the Cafe standards. The Cafe standards were
- 28:22Speaker 2: the federal mileage requirements that the Biden administration used to
- 28:27Speaker 2: jack them up so high that at number one, made
- 28:29Speaker 2: cars much much more expensive. But number two, it was
- 28:33Speaker 2: part of their effort to eliminate the internal combustion engine
- 28:36Speaker 2: to force everyone to buy an electric car, whether they
- 28:39Speaker 2: wanted or not. And as part of the One Big,
- 28:43Speaker 2: Beautiful Bill, we zeroed that out entirely. I wrote that provision,
- 28:46Speaker 2: and on Wednesday, the President was implementing it. Here I
- 28:50Speaker 2: want you to give a listen to the President describing
- 28:52Speaker 2: the historic steps he took on Wednesday.
- 28:55Speaker 3: From day one, I've been taking action to make buying
- 28:57Speaker 3: a car more affordable. I signed an executive order to
- 29:00Speaker 3: end the unfair expensive electric vehicle mandate. As you know,
- 29:05Speaker 3: where you had to have an electric car within a
- 29:07Speaker 3: very short period of time, even though there was no
- 29:10Speaker 3: way of charging them, and lots of other things. It
- 29:12Speaker 3: would have cost five trillion dollars to build the charging plants,
- 29:16Speaker 3: and as you know, in certain parts of the Midwest
- 29:19Speaker 3: they spent to build nine chargers. They spent eight billion dollars,
- 29:25Speaker 3: So that wasn't working out too well. That was done
- 29:27Speaker 3: before me. By the way, I wouldn't have let it
- 29:29Speaker 3: go forward. We're canceling the EPA is observed tailpipe emission standards.
- 29:34Speaker 3: One of the most important things that I've never had
- 29:37Speaker 3: a group of people come to me more more powerfully
- 29:42Speaker 3: and really just devastated that they had to do it.
- 29:45Speaker 3: It was killing them. Then the automobile manufacturers the tailpipe
- 29:50Speaker 3: emission standards, and I can tell you your people at
- 29:53Speaker 3: Ford were coming to me all the time and they
- 29:55Speaker 3: were saying, like, please, it doesn't do any thing, that
- 30:00Speaker 3: it's killing us, and it's driving the course through the roof.
- 30:03Speaker 3: And we revoked Biden's emissions waiver for California so that
- 30:07Speaker 3: California communists could not regulate the automobile industry and ruin
- 30:12Speaker 3: the entire nation of automobiles. And they were doing that too.
- 30:17Speaker 3: But we have that now under control, also with your governor,
- 30:21Speaker 3: who's got much more than he can control. Now under
- 30:25Speaker 3: the new rules being issued today by Secretary Duffy, the
- 30:28Speaker 3: Department of Transportation will rescind the Biden fuel economy prices.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And I hate to say that, because they were really
- 30:36Speaker 3: not economy. They were really they were anti economy. They
- 30:41Speaker 3: were horrible what they were doing to the costs and
- 30:44Speaker 3: actually making the car much worse. But these policies forced
- 30:49Speaker 3: automakers to build cars using expensive technologies that drove up costs,
- 30:53Speaker 3: drove up prices, and made the car much worse. The
- 30:57Speaker 3: action is expected to save the typical consumer at least
- 31:00Speaker 3: one thousand dollars off the price of a new car,
- 31:03Speaker 3: and we think substantially more than that.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Senator, you hear him talk about this. This is exactly
- 31:09Speaker 1: what I think so many Americans voted for. It's government
- 31:12Speaker 1: actually not mandating things. It's government getting out of the
- 31:16Speaker 1: way of insane regulations to make your life easier. Just
- 31:21Speaker 1: give me a little bit of my freedom back. Let
- 31:23Speaker 1: the private sector do what the private sector does. Stop
- 31:26Speaker 1: putting all this government agenda on top of me, and
- 31:29Speaker 1: let me do what I want to do. If I
- 31:30Speaker 1: want to buy an EVA, I'll buy an EV. But
- 31:33Speaker 1: don't force me to do something. And don't make these
- 31:34Speaker 1: standards so insane that you raise a cary the cost
- 31:37Speaker 1: of cars a point where I can't even afford a
- 31:40Speaker 1: new one.
- 31:41Speaker 2: It's your choice. It should be your choice. If you
- 31:43Speaker 2: decide you want to go buy a Tesla. Tesla's are
- 31:45Speaker 2: amazing automobiles. You can go do that. But if you
- 31:47Speaker 2: decide you want to drive your F one fifty, that
- 31:50Speaker 2: ought to be your choice too. And this legislation and
- 31:54Speaker 2: what the President did this week benefited consumers. Lowered prices
- 31:58Speaker 2: made cars and trucks a lot cheaper. It also made
- 32:01Speaker 2: them safer, It saved lives. It also helped produce jobs.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Thousands and thousands of jobs. Is billions of dollars of
- 32:09Speaker 2: being invested by car manufacturers in the United States. We're
- 32:12Speaker 2: bringing blue collar jobs back to America. Ben, Here's how.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Here's how I explained that in the Oval Office, standing
- 32:19Speaker 2: next to the President. Give a listen.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Anybody else want to say a few words? Oh dead,
- 32:23Speaker 3: I've did generally I'm easy to miss.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Go ahead, Well, this President, I want to congratulate you
- 32:34Speaker 2: on behalf everyone here for the leadership that you're showing.
- 32:37Speaker 2: And this is a victory today for consumers. This is
- 32:40Speaker 2: a victory for affordability. Your critics like to say the
- 32:42Speaker 2: word affordability. Under Joe Biden, the Democrats, they put mandate
- 32:46Speaker 2: after mandate after mandate on cars and trucks, and they
- 32:49Speaker 2: drove the price up thousands and thousands of dollars. And
- 32:53Speaker 2: with the actions you're taking today, and you put on
- 32:55Speaker 2: top of that the one big beautiful bill. You know,
- 32:57Speaker 2: most of the senators here on the Senate Commerce can
- 33:00Speaker 2: and on the Commerce Committee, we worked together to zero
- 33:03Speaker 2: out the cafe standards. We wrote that into the law,
- 33:05Speaker 2: that the cafe standards went to zero. What does that mean.
- 33:09Speaker 2: It means you can now, as a consumer, buy the
- 33:11Speaker 2: car you want. It also means people's lives will be
- 33:15Speaker 2: safer because what these regulations did is they forced cars
- 33:19Speaker 2: to be more expensive and made a plastic instead of
- 33:22Speaker 2: steel because you had to make them lighter to comply
- 33:25Speaker 2: with these standards. So you'd get in a wreck and
- 33:26Speaker 2: people would die. The results of what you're doing, you're
- 33:29Speaker 2: literally saving people's lives and you're making it where families
- 33:33Speaker 2: can afford to get a new car. These actions will
- 33:36Speaker 2: drop the cost of cars and trucks thousands of dollars.
- 33:39Speaker 2: That's makes a real difference. And I'll make one final point.
- 33:42Speaker 2: You know about half the members here are car dealers.
- 33:45Speaker 2: And I will say, my good friend Roger Williams out
- 33:47Speaker 2: in the lobby, he tried to sell me a car
- 33:50Speaker 2: which didn't surprise me. But I just just want to
- 33:52Speaker 2: give props to Mike Kelly. He showed he was savvier
- 33:55Speaker 2: because he tried to sell you a car and you
- 33:57Speaker 2: can work one nicer car than I can. Well done,
- 34:00Speaker 2: Mike Roger, you just went to the wrong customer.
- 34:02Speaker 3: I was one hundred dollars chief.
- 34:05Speaker 6: The thing that Tenji said, it's to plastic instead of
- 34:09Speaker 6: still think of that and people died because of that.
- 34:13Speaker 6: The plastic was plastic in an auto accident that it
- 34:16Speaker 6: broke up and people were shattered because of that crazy deal.
- 34:21Speaker 6: But it's a really good point.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Good and was President. I'll tell you the Senate Commerce
- 34:25Speaker 2: Committee on January fourteenth, we're going to have a hearing
- 34:29Speaker 2: with all the big three there in Tesla, and the
- 34:31Speaker 2: entire hearing is going to focus on how your leadership
- 34:35Speaker 2: has reduced the burdens on car makers. That's lowering costs,
- 34:38Speaker 2: that's getting consumers more choices, and it's producing more jobs
- 34:42Speaker 2: in America, and it's highlighted. That's a real record of success.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Not only is it a record of success, but as
- 34:47Speaker 1: you mentioned there and highlighted and the President agreed with you,
- 34:50Speaker 1: it's an issue of safety.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Senator yeah, yeah, no, I mean it's these cafe standards
- 34:56Speaker 2: were making cars much much more dangerous. And we'll never
- 35:00Speaker 2: know who, but there are people who will live now
- 35:04Speaker 2: because of this change, because they'll be able to be
- 35:07Speaker 2: in safer cars. Some of it is they may be
- 35:10Speaker 2: able to afford a new car now because as this
- 35:12Speaker 2: drives down the price of new cars and new trucks,
- 35:16Speaker 2: they may sell their old used car and buy a
- 35:19Speaker 2: new car because it makes it more affordable. New cars
- 35:21Speaker 2: typically have more safety features and enhance their safety. But secondly,
- 35:26Speaker 2: if you're not having to make these cars and remove
- 35:29Speaker 2: all the steel, you're much more likely to survive an
- 35:31Speaker 2: accident if you're in a car that has some weight,
- 35:33Speaker 2: has some steel, and doesn't just crumple up like a
- 35:38Speaker 2: beer can.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a big victory at the White House for
- 35:41Speaker 1: everybody in America. Three days in a row. By the way,
- 35:44Speaker 1: we do the show three days in a row. So
