Latest / Life For Toledo / Loss of Discernment: Listening Well Hebrews 5:11
Transcript
- 0:00I'm thinking today of Hebrews 5 .11. I hope you're
- 0:03hearing me clearly. I'm wearing my little headset.
- 0:06I've got a good microphone on. In Hebrews 5 .11,
- 0:09the verse says this, Concerning him, we have
- 0:11much to say, and it is difficult to explain,
- 0:15since you have become poor listeners. What is
- 0:18a good listener? A listener is a person who doesn't
- 0:21dial out the speaker, doesn't ignore the message.
- 0:25He comes with an open mind, open heart, and open
- 0:27ears. A listener is a person that absorbs what's
- 0:30being said and applies it, hopefully as it was
- 0:32meant to be applied, so that it's in context
- 0:35and it makes sense in a godly way, since we're
- 0:38talking about Scripture. But also, he applies
- 0:41it... how it specifically applies to his life
- 0:43so that he can better glorify and honor God.
- 0:46Listen, discern. Do not let the loss of discernment
- 0:50set in where you two or I might be described
- 0:52as someone who is a poor listener. God's still
- 0:55speaking and he wants us to hear. Get in church,
- 0:58sit under a preacher and a teacher. You need
- 1:01to. That's what it means to be a great listener
- 1:03of the Lord. If the Lord is speaking through
- 1:04someone, you have to be willing to hear what
- 1:06it is that they have to say. God bless you today.
