- 2:19Speaker 1: is famous for being the manager or a talent manager
- 2:22Speaker 1: to wrapp her film and television star Little By Wow.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Please welcome to Money Making Conversation entrepreneur and author Teresa Cardwell, Hi, guys,
- 2:32Speaker 1: how are you, Thrisa? How you doing? My friend? Oh
- 2:37Speaker 1: my god, I'm so blessed. It's been a long time, right,
- 2:40Speaker 1: it's been you know, it's really interesting. Let's let's go
- 2:43Speaker 1: back and to give a history about how we met.
- 2:45Speaker 1: We met in Los Angeles, Little Bow and by a
- 2:48Speaker 1: thousand people came into the Steve Harvard Morning Shows radio
- 2:52Speaker 1: booth and that was the first thing. Counter we met,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know, as a rising star and uh in the business.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And uh, I like to believe that Stephen I helped,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you know, fuel his success by supporting him in the music.
- 3:05Speaker 1: But you stood out because you were his talent manager
- 3:07Speaker 1: and and the stand the talent managers today. Correct, Yes, well,
- 3:12Speaker 1: right now, I only managed television and film, and I
- 3:15Speaker 1: do like branding and marketing. Awesome, awesome, So talk about
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know, first of all, you're coming on the book,
- 3:21Speaker 1: coming on show, talking about the book, I once was her.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I read the book a very good read, very fast read,
- 3:25Speaker 1: because of the fact, because of the fact. You know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: if when you read the book, Teresa Um, if this
- 3:33Speaker 1: was a play, if it was a dramatic play, because
- 3:38Speaker 1: you introduced different people who are important relationships in your life,
- 3:42Speaker 1: I would sit. That would put you in the middle
- 3:44Speaker 1: of the room, and I have a spotlight on you,
- 3:47Speaker 1: and the entire room will be dark, okay, and then
- 3:51Speaker 1: a light will shine on Curtis Martin. He stand up,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and he says, and then a night was shown up
- 3:56Speaker 1: on another person. They stand up. Because that's how that
- 3:58Speaker 1: was the feeling that I had when I read the book,
- 4:01Speaker 1: because it felt like various levels of testimonials about not long.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I mean, there's just one of Some of them were
- 4:08Speaker 1: one pages, some of them were two or three pages,
- 4:11Speaker 1: the little and so, but they were important because they
- 4:13Speaker 1: described layers in your life. There the changes in your
- 4:18Speaker 1: life and how they were important. So talk about the
- 4:22Speaker 1: the angle and the thought and putting it that I
- 4:25Speaker 1: described the approach to your book from a theatrical standpoint, right, Yes,
- 4:31Speaker 1: you did, you did, And see what the reason why
- 4:33Speaker 1: I chose to write the book that way. First of all,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'm not a big reader, right, so I wanted to
- 4:39Speaker 1: make my book different because I wanted to catch you know,
- 4:42Speaker 1: my readers. I wanted them because you know, a lot
- 4:44Speaker 1: of times we read the book, we'll start reading a book,
- 4:46Speaker 1: we'll put it down. But I wanted my book to
- 4:48Speaker 1: be an easy read. So I'm so glad that you
- 4:49Speaker 1: got that. You took that from the book. I wanted
- 4:52Speaker 1: to be an easy read, and I wanted it to you.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I wanted my readers to feel what I went through.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And I wanted each one of my friends to write
- 5:00Speaker 1: something about me, like what did they experience with me
- 5:04Speaker 1: or by me being their friends? And I picked the
- 5:07Speaker 1: I picked the girls who were you know, who are
- 5:11Speaker 1: the closest to me to start each chapter. And I
- 5:14Speaker 1: picked Curtis Martin to do my forward because that's my
- 5:16Speaker 1: brother and he knows everything about me. Right. Well, you
- 5:20Speaker 1: know the thing about the book, uh And I'd say
- 5:22Speaker 1: it's a testimonial, It's a it's a shout out to
- 5:28Speaker 1: UH survival. It's out overcoming the odds, single parenting from
- 5:36Speaker 1: a woman's perspective, choosing the right mate, and also more
- 5:42Speaker 1: importantly the importance of fatherhood. Uh In a young girl's
- 5:47Speaker 1: life because I have a daughter, she's twenty two, and
- 5:52Speaker 1: I always, I always have the firm belief that she's
- 5:55Speaker 1: going to pick a version of me when she gets
- 5:58Speaker 1: out there making her selection sess and so I'm very
- 6:02Speaker 1: conscious in my communications with her. She can talk to
- 6:06Speaker 1: me about anything. I will stop when i'm doing if
- 6:09Speaker 1: she had if she wants my attention, not because I'm
- 6:11Speaker 1: trying to baby her. I just want to know what's
- 6:13Speaker 1: through her mind because she may have a question they
- 6:15Speaker 1: might shape especially when you're young. When you're young, you
- 6:17Speaker 1: just grab information that people don't understand that that information
- 6:20Speaker 1: that people grabs as a young person will hang can
- 6:23Speaker 1: hang through to them for the rest of their lives.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And so and that was you, your your your your
- 6:28Speaker 1: father who's now deceased. You know he was played an
- 6:32Speaker 1: important role in shaping you initially. And let's talk about that.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That the importance of a male figure in your life
- 6:39Speaker 1: at an early age. I feel like for me, and
- 6:43Speaker 1: I only speak from my experiences, I feel like me
- 6:48Speaker 1: as a little girl the first man that we will
- 6:52Speaker 1: love as our father. I feel like that love that
- 6:56Speaker 1: we get from our father or a father figure is
- 6:59Speaker 1: so key until a little girl when she grows up,
- 7:02Speaker 1: because that's the type of man that she's going to
- 7:04Speaker 1: search for. So for me, I didn't have that type
- 7:08Speaker 1: of father love. So I I searched for what I
- 7:12Speaker 1: knew and the and I searched for the love that
- 7:15Speaker 1: I that I got from my father, and it wasn't
- 7:17Speaker 1: the best love. So I attracted, you know, men who
- 7:22Speaker 1: treated me kind of like my father, who were verbally abusive,
- 7:27Speaker 1: who felt like I wasn't good enough, who I always
- 7:30Speaker 1: tried to prove to my father that I was going
- 7:33Speaker 1: to be great and it was just hard. So for me,
- 7:40Speaker 1: those are the type of men that I chose, you know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: my younger age, I chose those type of guys. And
- 7:47Speaker 1: then I also chose the type of guys that my
- 7:49Speaker 1: mother dated. And my mother dated abusers, so I watched
- 7:54Speaker 1: my mother get abused. So I attracted abusers because that's
- 8:00Speaker 1: what I knew, and so with me, I had to
- 8:03Speaker 1: stop the cycle. So there was the time I would
- 8:06Speaker 1: never remember. I would never forget it when I got
- 8:09Speaker 1: beat so bad that my ex guide the abuser, he
- 8:13Speaker 1: knocks my I looked like the elephant man's little sister,
- 8:17Speaker 1: Like that's why, Yeah, and so for me, just looking
- 8:22Speaker 1: at my face and just look at my body, just
- 8:24Speaker 1: looking how I looked, and I had to lie to
- 8:26Speaker 1: my son and tell my son that I fell down
- 8:29Speaker 1: the stairs. And from that point, yeah, from that point,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I was just like, you know what, I gotta break
- 8:34Speaker 1: the cycle. Like I don't want to be anything like
- 8:37Speaker 1: my mother, and I don't want to take anything like
- 8:39Speaker 1: the guys my mom dated and I And so that
- 8:42Speaker 1: right there was a wake up call for me. Well,
- 8:44Speaker 1: you know, let's let's talk about that, because I know
- 8:46Speaker 1: when he when he abused you, you even called his father,
- 8:49Speaker 1: and his father came over and he saw what he
- 8:52Speaker 1: had done to you physically, he told him he would
- 8:55Speaker 1: beat him up if he did that to you again.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And guess what, he still did it anyway. And so,
- 9:00Speaker 1: so what people don't understand about abuse. And I'm not
- 9:02Speaker 1: saying I'm an expert expert an expert in abuse. It
- 9:06Speaker 1: is a book, But there's a journey. There's years like
- 9:08Speaker 1: you got kicked out of the house when you were
- 9:10Speaker 1: stiff team because the fact that the boar friend that
- 9:13Speaker 1: was dating your mom at the time was physically beating
- 9:16Speaker 1: her up and your only recourse was to call the police.
- 9:20Speaker 1: They arrested him from the mom, like the most domestic situations,
- 9:24Speaker 1: sided with the man and told him that you had
- 9:26Speaker 1: to go, and you were thrown out with no guidance,
- 9:30Speaker 1: now no support system. If your mom had four sisters,
- 9:33Speaker 1: they didn't want anything to do with you. And the
- 9:35Speaker 1: state of Ohio was not only became a prison for
- 9:39Speaker 1: you because you didn't know what to go, you have
- 9:40Speaker 1: no options. You you might as well have been in
- 9:42Speaker 1: jail because you didn't have any support and so so
- 9:45Speaker 1: so it's got the struggling to find yourself and then
- 9:48Speaker 1: along the way, of course you got pregnant wife. One
- 9:50Speaker 1: of the second child was a little and so love
- 9:55Speaker 1: is really interesting when I read about it in your book,
- 9:57Speaker 1: because there is emotional love and there's physical love, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: then there's loving yourself. Let's let's talk about the emotional
- 10:04Speaker 1: love and let's talk about the physical love in that order.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Because the emotional love of what you were trying to
- 10:09Speaker 1: get from your parents and you didn't get it. Yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 1: the emotional Yeah, the emotional love that I was searching for, Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: absolutely right, was the love that I was trying to
- 10:17Speaker 1: get from my mother and my father and I didn't
- 10:20Speaker 1: get that and then you can continue. Teresa, I apologize. Yeah.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So so so when you when you were searching for
- 10:30Speaker 1: that emotional love, it's really hard where you don't get
- 10:35Speaker 1: that from your your parents, Like I didn't get it, right,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I didn't get it. I kept searching for it, and
- 10:42Speaker 1: it was sad because of the fact that you know
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm talking just just set up. Everybody was talking to
- 10:46Speaker 1: Teresa Cardwell, she's the author of the new book and
- 10:48Speaker 1: it's you can order pre ordered right now. It's called
- 10:51Speaker 1: I Once Was Her Um. It would be out officially
- 10:54Speaker 1: in June June this year. Uh, it's a good book
- 10:57Speaker 1: to I'll tell people all that now because yeah, she
- 11:01Speaker 1: become a New York Times bestseller based on the pre
- 11:03Speaker 1: ordist boom. You know, I need the system a system
- 11:06Speaker 1: and so. But one of the things that when I'm
- 11:09Speaker 1: when I'm reading the book and we're about to close
- 11:10Speaker 1: out this first break is that you know, as a man,
- 11:14Speaker 1: I felt helpless reading your story because as a man,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I would not have done any of these things to
- 11:20Speaker 1: any woman, not let alone you. So so when you
- 11:24Speaker 1: when you when these men try to play what you
- 11:27Speaker 1: consider an important role in your life and you accept
- 11:30Speaker 1: that they're gonna abuse you. When is the acceptance becomes
- 11:34Speaker 1: okay to an abusing or do you even know when
- 11:37Speaker 1: it's okay you just accepted? Can you answer that question?
- 11:41Speaker 1: You know what from like I speak to my experiences
- 11:46Speaker 1: like you really don't know. I didn't know because I
- 11:53Speaker 1: just accepted it. I accepted it because I felt like
- 11:56Speaker 1: for me, because I saw that going up, I felt
- 11:59Speaker 1: like that abuse, the hits and all that stuff. At
- 12:03Speaker 1: the beginning, I felt like that was his way of
- 12:06Speaker 1: showing me that he loved me. You know, I felt
- 12:09Speaker 1: like that was his way of showing me that he
- 12:10Speaker 1: loved me. Because in my mind, I felt like, oh
- 12:13Speaker 1: my god, because I saw my mother go through it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I felt like when he hit me and then like
- 12:20Speaker 1: he would apologize and be like, I only did that
- 12:22Speaker 1: because you know, I want you to know that I
- 12:24Speaker 1: care for you, I care about you, I love you.
- 12:28Speaker 1: That's the only way. That's why I did it. So
- 12:31Speaker 1: that's what happens like for me, That's what I thought, like,
- 12:34Speaker 1: oh my god, at the beginning, that he believes me
- 12:36Speaker 1: I was young, but he loves me, to hit me,
- 12:40Speaker 1: to abuse me, he loves me right and to keep
- 12:42Speaker 1: coming back and supporting. It was the blind slide. But
- 12:45Speaker 1: the sad part about it is that you were young.
- 12:47Speaker 1: We have women in the thirties for these fifties and sixties,
- 12:50Speaker 1: they are dealing with these situations. I'm talking to Teresa
- 12:53Speaker 1: car Well, this beautiful, well put together woman has had
- 12:56Speaker 1: her share of tears and mountains to cline. Teresa's book
- 12:59Speaker 1: is a Row Row Look a Row, looking to the
- 13:02Speaker 1: dark side of her life growing up before fame and fortune,
- 13:06Speaker 1: and it tells the story of rejection, abandonment, and physical abuse.
- 13:09Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more. We're talking about her
- 13:11Speaker 1: online taste, online boutique, but more important, a testimony of
- 13:16Speaker 1: overcoming the odds, a testimony of realizing that one has
- 13:19Speaker 1: to love themselves first in order to understand the path
- 13:24Speaker 1: out of the domestic abuse. You have to look in
- 13:27Speaker 1: the mirror and said, look, I am important. I am
- 13:29Speaker 1: the person that should be on top of this game.
- 13:32Speaker 1: If you don't ever admit that to yourself, you will
- 13:35Speaker 1: always be in a state of abuse. Not by yours,
- 13:38Speaker 1: not because somebody is giving it to it because you're
- 13:40Speaker 1: accepting it. We'll be right back with my friend, long time,
- 13:44Speaker 1: long time, Teresa card Well. Money making conversation will be

- 15:43Speaker 1: E R dot ai. Hi. This is Rashan McDonald and
- 15:47Speaker 1: you're listening to money making conversation. They say you can't
- 15:50Speaker 1: judge a book by its cover, and the same is
- 15:53Speaker 1: true for entrepreneur and business mogul. Theresa Cardwell, manager and
- 15:57Speaker 1: mother to successful rap movie entertainer Shad Moss better known
- 16:01Speaker 1: as Wow. I met him when he was little by
- 16:03Speaker 1: Wow and then he dropped the Bible Sad, So you know,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I mean I probably would say Wow, what's about you know?
- 16:09Speaker 1: But but you know the beauty of it. Like I said,
- 16:13Speaker 1: we met in Los Angeles, came into the radio studio,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and uh, I always felt we had a good relationship
- 16:19Speaker 1: because I understood I was a challenged manager for then
- 16:23Speaker 1: Steve Harvey and dealing with all the ins and out.
- 16:26Speaker 1: But you are mom manager, which is a different perspective
- 16:29Speaker 1: because of the fact that you know as a manager,
- 16:32Speaker 1: you you you basically I was the father, priest, accountant, uh, motivator,
- 16:38Speaker 1: crisis guy, and so to have an actual relationship with
- 16:42Speaker 1: a young man like like Bow and then to send
- 16:47Speaker 1: him off at a very early age under the under
- 16:50Speaker 1: the chair of Sugar Knight, under the care and guiding
- 16:55Speaker 1: some snoop dog talk about that moment and all those moments,
- 17:00Speaker 1: because you had to be like a biding your fingernails
- 17:04Speaker 1: on that one. But you have no options, I know,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you know what. Like for me, like it was it
- 17:10Speaker 1: was fun I must say it was. It was fun
- 17:13Speaker 1: um And I recognized early on that you know Boud
- 17:16Speaker 1: was smart. I regize I recognized his talent, and I
- 17:20Speaker 1: also it was his dream. You know, it was a dream.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So what I did was I was like, you know what,
- 17:28Speaker 1: this is something that he wants to do. This is
- 17:30Speaker 1: his gift. So as a parent, I wanted to make
- 17:33Speaker 1: sure he was able to live out his dream. So
- 17:36Speaker 1: I trusted Snoop. I trusted should. Like the relationship that
- 17:41Speaker 1: I had was shod, you know back in the day,
- 17:43Speaker 1: like I didn't like. I had a great relationship with
- 17:46Speaker 1: all of them, and they all looked out for Bout's
- 17:48Speaker 1: best interest even when I wasn't around, you know. So
- 17:52Speaker 1: it was all about trust and it was all about God.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I thought that God was in it. So I feel
- 17:57Speaker 1: like when God is in it, you feel safe. So
- 17:59Speaker 1: I my God was in it and it was his gift.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Well I love it. I loved it. But where Snoop
- 18:05Speaker 1: comes to you go, you know some I'm really not.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I really am not a good example or role model
- 18:15Speaker 1: because I know Snoop and and he Snoop will smoke
- 18:18Speaker 1: some weed. People understand he the brother is a not
- 18:22Speaker 1: It's like America has caught up with Snoop, which is
- 18:24Speaker 1: really funny because he was not gonna change. He confessed
- 18:27Speaker 1: publicly all the time he did it. And now when
- 18:29Speaker 1: you're seeing that it's being being sold and stores for
- 18:33Speaker 1: medical reasons or just clear for just for for sale
- 18:36Speaker 1: with profit reason, you have CBD and all these different uh,
- 18:40Speaker 1: instead of being brought out because of marijuana usage. It's
- 18:44Speaker 1: really amazing. But when Snoop I read that part of
- 18:47Speaker 1: the book, I went that Snoop because one thing about
- 18:49Speaker 1: Snooper there is a there's a business side to him.
- 18:51Speaker 1: He's a family man who if everybody's followers life, you
- 18:54Speaker 1: see he is a family man. Okay, yeah, he is
- 18:57Speaker 1: a family man. And so he came to you and
- 19:00Speaker 1: and anybody know his whole career how he has been
- 19:02Speaker 1: a mentor or I want to stand like a pseudo
- 19:05Speaker 1: father for the community by starting the football league and
- 19:08Speaker 1: many young men he's helped a get scholarships and in
- 19:11Speaker 1: college football has been a testament to him. But let's
- 19:15Speaker 1: go back to you in particular. You know that you know,
- 19:18Speaker 1: like you said, you you started dating hood dudes and
- 19:21Speaker 1: then you started dating pro athletes. You know, and youre
- 19:25Speaker 1: getting into this theme. You went from the hood dudes,
- 19:28Speaker 1: you know, whore out there, you know, beating, you selling drugs,
- 19:33Speaker 1: but your lifestyle was uh, you know, it was there.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You didn't have all benefits of the lifestyle, but at
- 19:40Speaker 1: least you had the lifestyle. And then you went to
- 19:42Speaker 1: the athletes, which is also a confusing world because you know,
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's a competitive world because you know they go from
- 19:49Speaker 1: different city of the city. So let's talk about where
- 19:52Speaker 1: you came from. Okay, at fifteen, you got kicked out
- 19:54Speaker 1: of the house. Then you got pregnant. Unfortunately, sadly, you
- 19:58Speaker 1: lost your first child. Then yeah, about and then you
- 20:01Speaker 1: start raising him, and then all of a sudden you
- 20:03Speaker 1: got this young man was taken care of. He's kind
- 20:05Speaker 1: of like the first far the figure for a bow
- 20:08Speaker 1: wow and uh and but he was into drugs. And
- 20:12Speaker 1: then you decided, hey, you know something, I'm gonna do
- 20:15Speaker 1: it too because I got to pay off this debt.
- 20:17Speaker 1: And we won't get in any more detail. Read the book.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It's fantastic how she is showing you when you cornered
- 20:24Speaker 1: in the state of desperation, you can start crying, but
- 20:27Speaker 1: have a plan while you're crying. Because one thing that
- 20:30Speaker 1: I took away from this book is that you if
- 20:32Speaker 1: you're in a crisis situation, especially in a violent crisis situation,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you gotta have a plan B. And that's what you
- 20:39Speaker 1: say a lot the reason you stayed in so long
- 20:42Speaker 1: you never had a plan B. When you got that
- 20:44Speaker 1: plan B, you got out. I got up. Yes, yes,
- 20:48Speaker 1: that is so true. Um. I I felt like, you know,
- 20:53Speaker 1: when I got myself in a situation, of course I
- 20:56Speaker 1: didn't have a I didn't have a plan, but I
- 20:58Speaker 1: didn't have a plan b RC. So in order to
- 21:01Speaker 1: me to get myself out of this situation, I had
- 21:03Speaker 1: to have a plan. So I stayed in it a
- 21:05Speaker 1: lot longer, and so I got a plan. So once
- 21:08Speaker 1: I got a plan, and you know, that's when I
- 21:10Speaker 1: got myself out. So I went from that, and I
- 21:13Speaker 1: you know what, I don't I don't regret any of
- 21:17Speaker 1: the things that I went through because that the street
- 21:20Speaker 1: life made me understand the entertainment world, because it was
- 21:26Speaker 1: kind of to me back then, it was the same thing.
- 21:28Speaker 1: It was just one was legal and one was illegal.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So that's how I looked at I looked at the
- 21:33Speaker 1: music industry back then, you know, it was it was,
- 21:36Speaker 1: it was brutal, So I looked at it like Okay,
- 21:39Speaker 1: it's the same thing. It was street dudes one and stuff,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you know, I was it was the same. So I
- 21:44Speaker 1: was built for it. You know, when they came at me,
- 21:46Speaker 1: I was able to, you know, to to stand up
- 21:48Speaker 1: for myself because of what I had already gone through.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So I went from that to dating, you know, you know, dating, well,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I went from that to being Mary. And then once
- 22:01Speaker 1: I got my divorce, that's when I started getting the
- 22:03Speaker 1: poor athlete you was that you know with with dating
- 22:09Speaker 1: and athletes, like there's good to bad, you know, come
- 22:12Speaker 1: along with that. There's a lot, like you said, they're
- 22:15Speaker 1: gone a lot and not around, but there's a lot
- 22:18Speaker 1: of parts to that, you know. And and and for me,
- 22:22Speaker 1: for me, you know, I can't sit here and um
- 22:27Speaker 1: and really say like bad things about the guy who
- 22:31Speaker 1: I dated. It was just like when I looked back
- 22:34Speaker 1: at everything, like all the relationships, you know, I kind
- 22:37Speaker 1: of like it was the type of girl who was like,
- 22:41Speaker 1: you know, after going through a marriage and divorced, I
- 22:43Speaker 1: was like, I don't want to be married or have
- 22:46Speaker 1: kids or have kids like I had that was made
- 22:50Speaker 1: up in my mind, like I don't want to be
- 22:52Speaker 1: married and I don't want to have any children. So
- 22:54Speaker 1: for me, you know, dating me was like it was
- 22:58Speaker 1: only it was only gonna go with right because I'm
- 23:02Speaker 1: making it known that I don't want to be married,
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'm not having any kids. But you know, it was
- 23:06Speaker 1: good for me to hear that, because that's taking control
- 23:09Speaker 1: of your life to me. You know, that's telling people
- 23:13Speaker 1: I can make a decisions, I can trust myself and
- 23:16Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be determined by a man's being
- 23:19Speaker 1: determined by me. And that's what I you know, I
- 23:22Speaker 1: when I open up, when you when I introduce you
- 23:24Speaker 1: said your your purpose is for women to discover their
- 23:27Speaker 1: true worth. And that's what this book is about. I
- 23:31Speaker 1: once was her. I'm talking to to to to reach
- 23:34Speaker 1: a Cardwell, it's a as a as a memoir about
- 23:37Speaker 1: her life before she was managing. Was kind of like
- 23:41Speaker 1: it slid into when she started when bile Wa became famous,
- 23:44Speaker 1: A little Bible became famous under that name, a little
- 23:47Speaker 1: by wall at the time. But it's really about the
- 23:49Speaker 1: beginning and how I shaped her as a businesswoman because
- 23:53Speaker 1: it was a tough life that she grew up on.
- 23:55Speaker 1: It kicked out of the house of fifteen, had a
- 23:57Speaker 1: baby to think sixteen and that another child which is
- 24:00Speaker 1: all by out today, and raised him. And and what
- 24:06Speaker 1: I loved about is that you didn't allow men to
- 24:10Speaker 1: negatively shape your son's vision because when he had a child,
- 24:15Speaker 1: speaking of Shad, you made sure that he understood his
- 24:20Speaker 1: role in that young girl's life. Talk about that. Yes,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I made sure that when Val had a daughter, because
- 24:30Speaker 1: of how hard it was for me, it was important
- 24:33Speaker 1: to me that I instilled in him that you have
- 24:38Speaker 1: to be a great father, not a good father, but
- 24:42Speaker 1: a great father because you have a daughter, you know,
- 24:45Speaker 1: and so and I told him, like, it is so
- 24:48Speaker 1: important because you will be the first man that she
- 24:51Speaker 1: will ever fall in love with. The way you teach
- 24:54Speaker 1: her and the way you treat her and the way
- 24:56Speaker 1: you raised her and the way you're in her life,
- 24:58Speaker 1: that's going to set the stand for when she gets older,
- 25:02Speaker 1: when she starts dating, the standards are gonna be so
- 25:04Speaker 1: high because she's gonna be like, you know, my father
- 25:07Speaker 1: treated me like this, my father this, my father that,
- 25:12Speaker 1: And I think that, you know, And I told him, like,
- 25:15Speaker 1: I told him that, like it's important. I mean, I know,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'm probably got on his nerves talking about it all
- 25:21Speaker 1: the time. But I but the relationship that that he
- 25:24Speaker 1: has with his daughter is priceless. Now if you look
- 25:27Speaker 1: at their videos and stuff, you can tell that he
- 25:30Speaker 1: plays a big role in her life and it's all
- 25:34Speaker 1: about love. You can tell, yeah, it's important, it's important.
- 25:40Speaker 1: And then our relationship, like you know, like even with
- 25:42Speaker 1: with my with bal and I like our relationship. The
- 25:45Speaker 1: things that I talked about what we went through a
- 25:47Speaker 1: little bit. I touched on that a little bit in
- 25:49Speaker 1: the book, like how hard that was, you know, um,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know, being a mom and being a manager and
- 25:55Speaker 1: you know, trying to step away to two. It did
- 25:58Speaker 1: put a strain in our in our relationship. We did
- 26:00Speaker 1: go through some things, you know, because we want was
- 26:03Speaker 1: best for our children. And then you know, like me,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like my fear was I never wanted my son to
- 26:08Speaker 1: be on drugs. That was a fear of mine, you know,
- 26:11Speaker 1: and being in the in the industry, like so much
- 26:13Speaker 1: can happening and drugs are like they give it to
- 26:16Speaker 1: him like and that was a big I feared that.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I tried to protect him. And you did a good
- 26:22Speaker 1: job because your little book you said I had to
- 26:24Speaker 1: want I had to take off my talent manager hand
- 26:26Speaker 1: and put back on my mama had because sometimes you
- 26:29Speaker 1: gotta let him know, Look, I brought you into this world.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I have a different level of passion that dude, well
- 26:34Speaker 1: he just wants ten percent. That dude just want to
- 26:36Speaker 1: start our tickets over there, your mama day one, this
- 26:41Speaker 1: day one, that day one, Mama right here, they want,
- 26:45Speaker 1: and we'll be here in the end when all this
- 26:47Speaker 1: is going on the way, I'm still going to be
- 26:48Speaker 1: there for you. And that's what you that's what you
- 26:50Speaker 1: stated in the book very clearly that yes, I I
- 26:54Speaker 1: did accept the role and the professional role as his
- 26:57Speaker 1: talent manager, but I never lost the mama hat, the
- 27:01Speaker 1: mom and that was really before we get out. I
- 27:04Speaker 1: want to I want to put on that entrepreneur hat
- 27:06Speaker 1: that that you have here Taste Online boutique, tell us
- 27:11Speaker 1: about that. Yes, so I have an online boutique. It's
- 27:15Speaker 1: Taste Online. Well it's shop taste online dot com. That
- 27:20Speaker 1: I've had that boutique forever. Like my passion is fashion

- 27:34Speaker 1: back into that full time now. They kind of brought
- 27:36Speaker 1: me out of retirement and I do a lot of
- 27:38Speaker 1: entertainers homes, like you know, a lot of athletes is
- 27:41Speaker 1: like my number one client, So I do a lot
- 27:44Speaker 1: of those homes in my store. Is you know, I
- 27:47Speaker 1: have a passion for fashion. I love to see my
- 27:49Speaker 1: girls feel good and look good in what they wear. Awesome.
