- 1:54Speaker 3: your brand has is what we do. You know, friendship
- 1:57Speaker 3: is essential the soul And you're upset and everything you
- 2:01Speaker 3: do in the community all thirty five years you've been
- 2:04Speaker 3: out there uplifting me with your music and the community
- 2:07Speaker 3: again and congratulations, but welcome back to my show because
- 2:11Speaker 3: we had a lot of great things to talk about
- 2:13Speaker 3: Soul Rising. But before we get to the new CD
- 2:17Speaker 3: thirty five years twenty seven CDs, and on my show,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I try to allow celebrities or entrepreneurs like you to
- 2:28Speaker 3: give parting words or information of how they can do it,
- 2:32Speaker 3: because it's never overnight.
- 2:34Speaker 2: How did you get started, Well, Donnie in the music business.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Well, I started primarily as a background vocalist and in
- 2:43Speaker 5: the mid early to mid eighties, so I sang background
- 2:47Speaker 5: for any and everybody that would call, and I put
- 2:51Speaker 5: out a bunch of records under assumed names before I
- 2:55Speaker 5: decided to become a solo water. So I had many
- 2:58Speaker 5: twelve inch records out under different names on different labels,
- 3:01Speaker 5: and my name started circulating around the city, and you know,
- 3:05Speaker 5: in the music industry, they said.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Well, who is this guy, Who's who's got to sung
- 3:09Speaker 4: on this one? What's got to sung on this same guy?
- 3:11Speaker 5: And then eventually someone kind of said, well, if he's
- 3:13Speaker 5: doing all these records for everybody else, would he be
- 3:16Speaker 5: interested in doing his own record? And in eighty eight
- 3:19Speaker 5: I had the pleasure of signing a solo deal with
- 3:21Speaker 5: Island Records, and that's how my career started.
- 3:25Speaker 4: You know.
- 3:25Speaker 5: I had an international success initially, and then around my
- 3:30Speaker 5: third record, I released an album called A dream Fulfilled
- 3:34Speaker 5: and it had songs like I Try and I Go
- 3:36Speaker 5: Crazy on there, and I was able to kind of
- 3:39Speaker 5: come on back to America and you know, solidified career here.
- 3:43Speaker 5: So yeah, that's kind of how I got started, and
- 3:46Speaker 5: then subsequently I released an album every year or two
- 3:49Speaker 5: since then.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Let's talk about the domestic pictures to US an international
- 3:54Speaker 3: because I've heard all this that I met over the years, say, man,
- 3:58Speaker 3: you get paid.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You know, the there's a different audist out there.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Your music doesn't die as quickly as it dies in
- 4:04Speaker 3: the US. Because you said launch internationally. What are you
- 4:08Speaker 3: saying when you say internationally when it comes to music, Well, it's.
- 4:13Speaker 5: It's interesting the Europe and the United Kingdom, the UK,
- 4:19Speaker 5: the London, Manchester, Birmingham, all the surrounding cities, they are
- 4:24Speaker 5: not as single driven or singles driven as America is.
- 4:29Speaker 4: You know.
- 4:30Speaker 5: For us, we play a single, we try to beat
- 4:32Speaker 5: it to death at radio, and then once that's kind
- 4:35Speaker 5: of done, we move on to the next one, and
- 4:38Speaker 5: then after that, basically your album is done.
- 4:40Speaker 4: It's it's complete.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Over there, they kind of dig more into the project
- 4:45Speaker 5: as a whole. So you know what, we have what
- 4:49Speaker 5: we would call B sides here, kind of records that's
- 4:52Speaker 5: kind of off the beaten path, that's on the record,
- 4:54Speaker 5: but not necessarily single, they kind of gravitate towards and
- 4:58Speaker 5: they love that stuff, and they taking the whole record,
- 5:01Speaker 5: so you know, they're into who played on it, where
- 5:04Speaker 5: it was recorded, you know, all that sort of stuff,
- 5:08Speaker 5: and kind of like the way we used to buy records.
- 5:11Speaker 5: We would buy a record, we'd look at it and
- 5:12Speaker 5: kind of get into the meat of the record.
- 5:15Speaker 4: They still are into that sort of thing.
- 5:17Speaker 5: And you know when you go over there, that's singing
- 5:19Speaker 5: along with you, and it's a real treat man. I mean,
- 5:24Speaker 5: and when I say Europe, I basically mean the world
- 5:27Speaker 5: because even that sort of thing happens in Japan as well.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Like they're really into the music.
- 5:31Speaker 5: They may not be able to understand, uh specifically you
- 5:35Speaker 5: know what I'm saying or what you might be saying,
- 5:38Speaker 5: but musically, you know, it crosses all, you know, all anything.
- 5:42Speaker 4: You know, people just know music and know how it
- 5:44Speaker 4: makes them feel.
- 5:44Speaker 3: So so soul Riseing is what we're coming on the
- 5:48Speaker 3: show to talk about.
- 5:49Speaker 4: How do you.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Break your music to the industry now that you know
- 5:54Speaker 3: you have an international market and you have the US market,
- 5:57Speaker 3: and the US market can be frustrating because of the
- 6:01Speaker 3: fact that these records stations, these radio stations are dominated.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I remember in the two thousands where rap took over.
- 6:08Speaker 3: It was like if you if you wanted to sing,
- 6:11Speaker 3: you have to be on a rap song to sing
- 6:13Speaker 3: to get your music played. That was like frustrating for
- 6:16Speaker 3: me because I grew up on R and B and
- 6:19Speaker 3: so I knew that R and B was my base.
- 6:21Speaker 2: But rap had took over.
- 6:23Speaker 3: So where's the industry now when it comes to playing
- 6:27Speaker 3: your type of music?
- 6:29Speaker 5: Well, it's funny, man, you hit on something or you're
- 6:33Speaker 5: you're about to say something. That is a reality for
- 6:37Speaker 5: us as artists, but it may not be to most
- 6:39Speaker 5: laymen who or not in the music business. Is that
- 6:43Speaker 5: a lot of these radio stations used to be independently owned,
- 6:45Speaker 5: especially for black stations, it used to be independently OneD.
- 6:49Speaker 5: Like here in New York we had like WBLS, which
- 6:52Speaker 5: was a black owned station, or in Los Angeles you
- 6:55Speaker 5: have like a kJ LH, which is owned by Stevie Wonder,
- 6:58Speaker 5: which is a black owned station. Those stations are kind
- 7:01Speaker 5: of gone, you know, by the wayside, And a lot
- 7:04Speaker 5: of these stations now are part of like a much
- 7:07Speaker 5: bigger conglomerate. And the unfortunate part with that happening is
- 7:11Speaker 5: that there may be one person making a decision as
- 7:15Speaker 5: to what gets.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Played across the whole country. So it used to be
- 7:21Speaker 4: like the East coachs, the Northeast had a sound, the
- 7:25Speaker 4: South had a sound, the midwest Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis had
- 7:31Speaker 4: a sound, the West coast had a sound, and the
- 7:33Speaker 4: radio stations used to cater to that sound and local
- 7:36Speaker 4: artists were able to get played.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I know that.
- 7:38Speaker 3: You know when I was with Steve Harvey and we
- 7:40Speaker 3: syndicated and we would have eighty cities. They would controlled
- 7:45Speaker 3: WBLS wails. You mentioned that KJL Stevie wonder we Will
- 7:50Speaker 3: mentioned that, and member w Elis owned the San Francisco station.
- 7:54Speaker 3: They owned their Coloriate South Carolina station, so that music
- 7:58Speaker 3: they can control. But when they sold, guess what they
- 8:01Speaker 3: got swallowed up and it became under doc Doc who
- 8:05Speaker 3: is over all the music for iye haarg and he
- 8:08Speaker 3: can dictate I don't want to play that sound.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I want to play this sound, and it hurts and
- 8:13Speaker 2: it frustrates you.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Why do you overcome that frustration Because a lot of
- 8:17Speaker 3: artists out there, they all breaking their music through their
- 8:21Speaker 3: YouTube channels, through the internet, but still man.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Being able to get your.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Record played on that radio is special and it reaches
- 8:29Speaker 3: the masses because it's free.
- 8:31Speaker 2: How do you do how do you do it well?
- 8:34Speaker 4: These days?
- 8:34Speaker 5: You have to have some pretty tough skin to realize
- 8:37Speaker 5: that that's going to be the case.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Right. It's a new world. This is the way they
- 8:42Speaker 4: do things now.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Even from you a consumer standpoint, people don't buy the
- 8:49Speaker 5: way they used to now. People stream. For an older
- 8:52Speaker 5: artist such as myself, adults do not stream. We don't
- 8:56Speaker 5: you know, we ain't gonna get them numbers that are
- 8:58Speaker 5: a Chris brown on or or making the Stallion. I'm
- 9:02Speaker 5: just pulling these names out.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Those are true numbers.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Right right, right, So, but kids kind of stream, older
- 9:10Speaker 5: older folks do not. Doesn't make you old. It's just
- 9:12Speaker 5: kind of a new way of doing things and we
- 9:15Speaker 5: just have not embraced it. So for an artist like myself,
- 9:19Speaker 5: I put out records now to almost be like a
- 9:21Speaker 5: card to let people know that you're still alive, You're
- 9:25Speaker 5: still available, You're still making things happen.
- 9:29Speaker 4: And the majority of what you do financially, as far
- 9:33Speaker 4: as making money is concerned, it's in the live concept.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Now you now you have a weekly show. Now does
- 9:39Speaker 3: that weekly show which also broadcast in the UK and
- 9:42Speaker 3: like twenty stations nationwide. Was that a reason that you said, Look,
- 9:47Speaker 3: I got to control my narrative. I got to be
- 9:49Speaker 3: able to put my stamp on this industry. Give other
- 9:53Speaker 3: people an industry who are frustrated, like me, don't have
- 9:56Speaker 3: a place to get their music. Gut tell us about
- 9:59Speaker 3: your weekly radio show.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I have a weekly radio show called The Wine Down,
- 10:03Speaker 5: and I've been doing it since two thousand and eight.
- 10:06Speaker 5: And it started because in two thousand and seven, two
- 10:10Speaker 5: thousand and six, two thousand and seven, I had taken
- 10:12Speaker 5: ill and to the point where I couldn't really tour.
- 10:16Speaker 5: I couldn't not really to I could not do it.
- 10:18Speaker 5: That was it.
- 10:19Speaker 4: So I was sort of, you know, regulated to being
- 10:22Speaker 4: in my home.
- 10:23Speaker 5: But I wanted people to know that I was still
- 10:25Speaker 5: alive and kicking, and I decided to do my radio show.
- 10:29Speaker 5: And what I decided to do was to give artists,
- 10:32Speaker 5: as you said, for a young and up and coming
- 10:35Speaker 5: up and also more established artists that didn't have the
- 10:38Speaker 5: cachet that they used to have with mainstream radio, give
- 10:43Speaker 5: them a platform for their music to be played and
- 10:45Speaker 5: It's been like that since two thousand and eight. So
- 10:48Speaker 5: I do this weekly show and I present you know
- 10:51Speaker 5: talent I you know, knew an upcoming talent and established talent.
- 10:55Speaker 5: So and I also featured myself as well. Let me
- 10:57Speaker 5: give myself an outlet. So you know, if you don't
- 11:00Speaker 5: patch yourself on the back, ain't nobody else gonna do
- 11:02Speaker 5: it for you.
- 11:03Speaker 3: So absolutely so Soul Rising, that's why you're on the show.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Talk about this new CD. What number is this? Is
- 11:11Speaker 2: it twenty seven to twenty seven?
- 11:13Speaker 3: Twenty seven out of thirty five years of live performance
- 11:16Speaker 3: and production, going from a backup career to somebody tapping
- 11:19Speaker 3: your the shoulder or hearing your voice say I want
- 11:23Speaker 3: to give you a deal at Island Records.
- 11:25Speaker 2: To now longevity.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I look back, Will, and I go, you know, because
- 11:31Speaker 3: youth is amazing, because you don't see forty, you don't
- 11:35Speaker 3: see fifty, you don't see sixty. And now that I
- 11:39Speaker 3: look back now, I go, wow, I did all that,
- 11:44Speaker 3: and I'm not saying I did anything wrong, Will, But
- 11:47Speaker 3: then I know there's more that I can do. And
- 11:51Speaker 3: that's when I think of Soul Rising. It's that why
- 11:55Speaker 3: stop age shouldn't stop me, so tell us the whole
- 11:59Speaker 3: per some soul rising and what initiated this particular seven
- 12:03Speaker 3: there's seven songs on this CD, right right?
- 12:06Speaker 2: Okay? Cool?
- 12:07Speaker 4: Correct? Correct? Well, I mean I still have a song
- 12:10Speaker 4: in my heart.
- 12:11Speaker 5: I still have something to say, and I try not
- 12:14Speaker 5: to fall into that category of agism, you know, and say, Okay,
- 12:19Speaker 5: you've been doing this a long time, you should stop,
- 12:22Speaker 5: like why. I mean, I still think I sound decent.
- 12:25Speaker 5: I still have my ears to the street. I believe
- 12:28Speaker 5: that there's a bunch of people out there that feel
- 12:29Speaker 5: the same way that I do in regards to what
- 12:32Speaker 5: I'm singing about. And for this project, this is probably
- 12:35Speaker 5: the most special project that I've ever done in my life.
- 12:39Speaker 5: At the beginning of twenty twenty three, I had a
- 12:42Speaker 5: very unfortunate thing happened to our family. My daughter passed away. Yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 5: January eleventh, My mental daughter, Shavon, who was thirty one
- 12:52Speaker 5: at the time, passed away. You know, she committed suicide.
- 12:55Speaker 5: She was dealing with mental issues and she was bipolar,
- 13:00Speaker 5: diagnosed bipolar and uh. On the eleventh, you know, I
- 13:04Speaker 5: received a telephone call from my from her mother, my wife,
- 13:09Speaker 5: that they found her, you know, in her apartment Dead. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 5: they listen. No one is no more sorry than me,
- 13:18Speaker 5: you know, trust me. But she was also the inspiration
- 13:22Speaker 5: for the Soul Rising Hents.
- 13:24Speaker 2: But was put I called Till We Meet Again? Right?
- 13:27Speaker 4: Till We Meet Again?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Right?
- 13:28Speaker 4: Right? Yeah?
- 13:29Speaker 5: So yeah, So the the the the album and especially
- 13:33Speaker 5: that song is to celebrate her life and.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Because because I listened to that song when it came out,
- 13:38Speaker 3: because you were kind of mad from a from a
- 13:41Speaker 3: why didn't you tell me at the beginning of that song?
- 13:44Speaker 3: Because it was It's an honest song. It's a song
- 13:47Speaker 3: about frustration, this song about I wish I knew. If
- 13:51Speaker 3: you've not listened to or seen the song, Till We
- 13:54Speaker 3: Meet Again is a passion plead for help for the
- 13:59Speaker 3: person who commit suicide, but also for the person who
- 14:04Speaker 3: didn't know and you didn't know, correct, well.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I mean she and I we spoke on
- 14:10Speaker 5: a weekly basis, and when she was going through something,
- 14:14Speaker 5: you know, we'd always be able to talk her.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Now you know what I mean.
- 14:18Speaker 5: If it was something a little left of center that
- 14:21Speaker 5: she wanted to do or was planning on doing. It
- 14:24Speaker 5: was kind of like ash Shavan, I wouldn't do that, Hey,
- 14:26Speaker 5: I wouldn't go there. Hey, maybe you shouldn't hang out
- 14:29Speaker 5: with this person, man, maybe you shouldn't. It was a
- 14:31Speaker 5: lot of those sort of things and trying to be
- 14:33Speaker 5: as encouraging as possible, and we were always able to
- 14:36Speaker 5: kind of level out whatever she was going through mentally.
- 14:40Speaker 4: And in this case, you know, she just left a note.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Like like Shaman, all these other times where you were
- 14:48Speaker 5: going through this, you called, regardless of whatever time it
- 14:53Speaker 5: was or anything.
- 14:55Speaker 4: You made a phone call.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Every time I would see her name pop up on
- 14:57Speaker 5: my phone, I pick up because of you know, not
- 15:01Speaker 5: wanting what happened to happen, something to escalate into something
- 15:05Speaker 5: that we couldn't control.
- 15:07Speaker 4: And she just she didn't call. She didn't call.
- 15:10Speaker 5: She made phone calls to every one in the family
- 15:13Speaker 5: days prior, but we didn't know it was going to
- 15:17Speaker 5: lead to this. So I guess it was something that
- 15:21Speaker 5: she was internally battling, right, and so that.
- 15:25Speaker 3: That was a connection to it, Soul rising, you know, correct,
- 15:29Speaker 3: you led to the first single I Believe, which is
- 15:31Speaker 3: what part of My Love, which again going over to
- 15:35Speaker 3: the UK, that's where you dropped it.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Right right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, well you know
- 15:41Speaker 5: the world is into music. So you know, you go
- 15:45Speaker 5: where you are accepted, not saying that I'm not accepted here,
- 15:48Speaker 5: but the outlet for being able to be heard is
- 15:51Speaker 5: greater there, and I have more options there as opposed
- 15:55Speaker 5: to hear. You know, it's not like we didn't service
- 15:57Speaker 5: the record to all of the American stations. It's just
- 16:00Speaker 5: that there's some political things and politics that go on
- 16:03Speaker 5: and getting a record played that a lot of people
- 16:05Speaker 5: don't know about, and it's very difficult at times, and
- 16:08Speaker 5: people are slow to jump on the record. But you know,
- 16:11Speaker 5: the world jumped on this one. It's a great song
- 16:14Speaker 5: for my stepping folks. If you a stepper, your hand dancer, whatever.
- 16:17Speaker 4: There you go.
- 16:18Speaker 5: That on two step, there you go, There you go.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Has been five years in Chicago. You know when you
- 16:29Speaker 2: say stepping, I know, come on down.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there you go.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more Money
- 16:40Speaker 6: Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making Conversations Masterclass,
- 16:45Speaker 6: hosted by Rashaan McDonald.
- 16:48Speaker 3: That's why I know that when I bring you on
- 16:50Speaker 3: the show, my whole thing is not so much to
- 16:54Speaker 3: talk about the industry, but talk about the opportunities because
- 16:57Speaker 3: I know how this industry plays the music and it.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Denies I've been there. I've been there.
- 17:02Speaker 3: When you know when they change the whole music rating,
- 17:05Speaker 3: fat Man and Black Radio was like ostracize a lost platforms,
- 17:12Speaker 3: jazz was dying and things like that when they changed
- 17:16Speaker 3: the media profile.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And then that turns around to go, well, you know
- 17:20Speaker 2: his music is a little slow.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I don't know if it's jazz, if it's R and B,
- 17:27Speaker 3: and that m is frustrated because I'm music.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I make people happy, I make them feel good.
- 17:33Speaker 3: People want to buy me if you give me a shot,
- 17:36Speaker 3: but they don't even give a shot because.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Guess what they worry about their job. They were about
- 17:40Speaker 2: that opportunity.
- 17:41Speaker 3: But the main thing of me coming on this show
- 17:44Speaker 3: is this is a new opportunity. And that's the smartness
- 17:47Speaker 3: of what you're trying to tell. Anybody who's listening understand that. Okay,
- 17:52Speaker 3: if this says no, find other options. And that's what
- 17:56Speaker 3: you're doing.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Correct, Absolutely absolutely, and that should be everyone's attitude with everything.
- 18:02Speaker 5: You know, you're gonna hear more nose than yesters in
- 18:05Speaker 5: your lifetime. Uh, and you just have to kind of
- 18:08Speaker 5: stick with what you know, stick with what you do best.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Don't be afraid to take chances.
- 18:14Speaker 5: You know, you got to live, you know what I mean,
- 18:17Speaker 5: You can't just I would recommend not to be put
- 18:20Speaker 5: in that box and just kind of say if someone
- 18:23Speaker 5: told me, no, someone I can't do this, I shouldn't
- 18:25Speaker 5: do this. I should like if that's what you feel.
- 18:28Speaker 5: You know, we're living in the world. Now we'll go
- 18:29Speaker 5: with what you go. Go for it, you know, but
- 18:32Speaker 5: just realize that you're gonna hear more nose than yeses,
- 18:35Speaker 5: and then one of those yesses might lead to something else,
- 18:37Speaker 5: and you just keep going.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Okay, where can we get the album? Where can we
- 18:42Speaker 3: get to single? Let's put that on the stream. Now,

- 19:58Speaker 3: who's participating, who's singing on the album. Let's give some
- 20:01Speaker 3: love to everybody who put this together, the twenty seventh
- 20:04Speaker 3: album of your career, your thirty five year career as.
- 20:07Speaker 2: A musical performing artist. Give us some more information by
- 20:10Speaker 2: Soul Rising, you.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Got it well.
- 20:13Speaker 5: For the first single that came out, Till We Meet Again,
- 20:15Speaker 5: I was featuring Nase saxophonist Nase on the project, so
- 20:19Speaker 5: that's him playing. I have a bunch of my musical
- 20:22Speaker 5: friends that I've worked with over the years, kind of
- 20:24Speaker 5: producing and co producing and co writing with me. So
- 20:27Speaker 5: people like Randy Bolan on guitar, Chris Big Dog Davis,
- 20:31Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys are hip to him,
- 20:33Speaker 5: incredible keyboardist and producer.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Actually, we did a.
- 20:37Speaker 5: Great cover of a classic Stylistic song, Yours Writer's Rain.
- 20:43Speaker 5: If you're not hip to that song, obviously go check
- 20:46Speaker 5: out my version, but go back and check out the
- 20:48Speaker 5: original as well, featuring Russell Tompkins Junior from the Stylistics,
- 20:53Speaker 5: So I kind of give a twist on that song
- 20:56Speaker 5: as well. Content wise, as you said, we got our
- 20:59Speaker 5: songs steppers. We obviously have the songs that are for
- 21:03Speaker 5: those who need to be inspired in some sort of
- 21:05Speaker 5: way and maybe it touches their heart until we meet again.
- 21:08Speaker 5: A bunch of songs on hire Man, you know, just
- 21:10Speaker 5: just doing doing what I do. If you like classic
- 21:13Speaker 5: well doubting, you're going to love, love love this autum.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Well, it's important that people understand that your music, your career,
- 21:22Speaker 3: This music is about. This song is what I read,
- 21:25Speaker 3: is about healing too. It's about healing for you, healing
- 21:30Speaker 3: for people because it's really interesting about sadness and pain
- 21:33Speaker 3: and death. It's not something you are uniquely experiencing. Was
- 21:40Speaker 3: I was talking to Ricky Smile and he was talking
- 21:42Speaker 3: about because you know, he recently lost his son.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Right yeah, livingly a couple of weeks after.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Mind yeah, and he was saying that the Ray Sean,
- 21:50Speaker 2: I had to go back to work. You know.
- 21:52Speaker 3: He said he remembered that he was doing a comedy
- 21:55Speaker 3: show recently and the people on the front row, they
- 22:00Speaker 3: were burying their son.
- 22:01Speaker 2: It was like on a Tuesday.
- 22:03Speaker 3: They were burying their son on that weekend, and they said,
- 22:08Speaker 3: he realized his purpose. And I think that one of
- 22:11Speaker 3: the main things where I always give you support because
- 22:15Speaker 3: of the fact that I really my purpose is to
- 22:18Speaker 3: position myself to continue to support.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Your music and music like yours, because everybody's not rapping
- 22:27Speaker 2: at the funeral.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Everybody's not rapping, you know, when they're trying to feel good,
- 22:31Speaker 3: they're trying to get sexy. You know, it's a music.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Everybody don't need music be screaming in their ear. We
- 22:37Speaker 3: just need time to find ourselves. We need time to heal,
- 22:41Speaker 3: we need time to feel good about ourselves.
- 22:44Speaker 2: At a pace. That's what your music does.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Will you will Your music has always done that for
- 22:50Speaker 3: me and I just want to remind you whenever.

- 23:19Speaker 3: Not that they didn't mean more, but they're gonna mean
- 23:23Speaker 3: more because I want to contribute my growth, my blessings
- 23:26Speaker 3: and keep sharing them with you.

- 24:08Speaker 4: We're a little bit everywhere.
- 24:09Speaker 5: I try to do it strategically so that I'm not

- 24:16Speaker 5: a lot of cold, So you ain't gonna find me
- 24:18Speaker 5: in Minneapolis and in February. So we try to strategically
