- 0:00Good morning, everyone. This is Mentor 365 Services.
- 0:05I'm your host, Dina. And this is a continuation from yesterday.
- 0:10We are starting Chapter 3, The Power of Stillness, Finding Peace in a Busy World.
- 0:17Welcome back to The Healing Mind. If you have been following along,
- 0:21you know that Chapter 1 helped us renew our thinking, and Chapter 2 guide us
- 0:26through the emotions we carried.
- 0:30Now we step into chapter 3, a sacred pause in the middle of life's noise.
- 0:36So today we're going to talk about stillness. Not just quiet on the outside, but calm within.
- 0:43Because healing doesn't only come through action. Sometimes it's born in rest.
- 0:51So why we run from stillness? Let's be honest.
- 0:56We live in a culture that celebrates busyness. We glorify hustle,
- 1:02productivity, and constant connection.
- 1:05Even when our bodies stop, our minds keep racing.
- 1:09Emails, bills, relationships, expectation. But what we often call being busy
- 1:16is sometimes just being distracted.
- 1:19We keep moving so we don't have to feel, think, or face what's beneath the surface.
- 1:26Yet, true healing requires stillness, because what we won't sit with, we can't heal.
- 1:36Mental health professionals call this avoidance coping, usually activity to
- 1:43escape emotional discomfort.
- 1:45But stillness is the opposite of avoidance. It's the moment you say,
- 1:50I'm ready to listen to my own soul.
- 1:56Psalms 46.10 says, Be still and know that I am God.
- 2:03This verse isn't an invitation to idealness. It's an instruction to trust.
- 2:13When life feels unstable, God reminds us, Peace is not found in control, but in surrender.
- 2:24Stillness isn't empty it's full of awareness it's the sacred space where we
- 2:30stop trying to fix everything and simply rest in god's presence,
- 2:36even jesus often withdrew from crowds to pray alone he didn't wait until life
- 2:42was calm he created a calm by choosing stillness so when you pause even for a few moment,
- 2:51You are practicing a holy act.
- 2:53You are saying, I trust that peace can meet me right here.
- 2:59In psychology, stillness has powerful effects.
- 3:03It lowers cortisol, your body's stress hormone.
- 3:08It improves emotional regulation, helping you respond instead of react.
- 3:15It increases mindfulness, allowing you to see your thoughts without judgment.
- 3:23When we allow the mind to rest, the nervous system reset.
- 3:27That's why mental health coaches like me often teach techniques like deep breathing,
- 3:34meditation, or mindful prayer.
- 3:37They train the body to feel safe again.
- 3:41Think of it this way. When you pause, you send your brain a message I'm safe
- 3:48now And only in safety can healing begin.
- 3:53I'm going to share you a story, The Gardener and the Storm.
- 4:00There was once a gardener who loved her flowers but grew frustrated during a
- 4:05heavy storm that tore through her garden.
- 4:09She ran outside trying to cover each plant, but the wind was too strong.
- 4:15Exhausted, she stopped and watched. As the storm passed, she realized that the
- 4:21flowers she left alone, rooted deep in the soil, were the ones that survived.
- 4:30So the lesson here is, sometimes your peace isn't about controlling the storm.
- 4:36It's about being deeply rooted, trusting that what's within you can withstand what's around you.
- 4:45Stillness isn't weakness. It's confidence in God's strength.
- 4:51So let's practice a few mental health coaching tools you can use daily to reconnect with peace.
- 4:581. The 3 minute pause. 3 times a day, pause for 60 seconds.
- 5:05Take a deep breath in through your nose. Hold it for two seconds.
- 5:10Exhale slowly through your mouth.
- 5:13Repeat this three times. Then ask yourself, how do I feel right now and what do I need?
- 5:21It's short but powerful because awareness always begins with a pause.
- 5:29Two, you can try the peace journal. At the end of the day, write down one thing
- 5:35that made you smile, one thing that challenged your peace, one small step you
- 5:41will take tomorrow to protect your peace.
- 5:44Over time, this builds emotional awareness and gratitude.
- 5:49Three, faith breathing.
- 5:52When anxiety arises, inhale while saying to yourself, be still,
- 5:59exhale while saying, and no.
- 6:03Repeat this slowly until your thoughts quiet down.
- 6:09This combines mindfulness with scripture, a faith-based grounding technique
- 6:15that aligns spirit and body.
- 6:19Now, let's take a brief guide reflection together.
- 6:24Find a quiet place. Close your eyes if you can. Take a slow,
- 6:30deep breath in and let it go.
- 6:32Now picture yourself beside a calm lake. The water is still, the air is peaceful.
- 6:40You hear birds in the distance. The sun is warm and the breeze is gentle.
- 6:46Say quietly to yourself, I am safe in this moment, I am grounded in peace,
- 6:53I do not have to rush, peace lives within me.
- 6:58Let your breath settle into a slow, natural rhythm.
- 7:06Soon it is not the absence of movement, it's the presence of peace.
- 7:13Now, these are affirmations for inner peace.
- 7:17I am learning to slow down and rest in God's presence.
- 7:22Peace is not found in perfection. It's found in surrender.
- 7:27When I am still, I hear my purpose more clearly. My calm is powerful.
- 7:35In a world that moves fast, stillness becomes your secret strength.
- 7:42Peace is not something you chase, it's something you chose.
- 7:46So the next time life feels overwhelming, before reacting, before rushing, take a sacred pause.
- 7:54Remember, peace doesn't always change your circumstances, but it always change you.
- 8:01This was chapter 3, The Power of Stillness. In our next chapter,
- 8:06we will explore resilience through faith, rising after the fall.
- 8:12Until then, may you find moments of calm in every corner of your day. God bless.
