- 1:54Speaker 1: seen on the U m C new drama series Double Cross,
- 1:58Speaker 1: the original series not streaming right now on u MC.
- 2:01Speaker 1: He is currently one of the stars on Carl Weber
- 2:04Speaker 1: and b T. Plus. It was on BT Now it's
- 2:06Speaker 1: on b T plus. The Family Business as Orlando Duncan.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Hear me, Orlando Duncan, He's dangerous, y'all. The charismatic son
- 2:15Speaker 1: of LC Duncan even more dangerous played by Anie Ernie
- 2:19Speaker 1: Hudson and the Mama Valerie whoa Charlotte. Well, this show
- 2:22Speaker 1: was incredible. The Dunctors are a prominent family from Jamaica
- 2:26Speaker 1: queens who owned an exotic car dealership called Duncan Motors.
- 2:29Speaker 1: By day, they are on an upstanding family. By night,
- 2:33Speaker 1: they live a dangerous secret life and it's about sex, murder,
- 2:36Speaker 1: more sex, mafia, more sex, drug cartels. The Duncans are
- 2:40Speaker 1: a ride or die family. Please walk with the money
- 2:43Speaker 1: making conversation. He plays the character Orlando Ducking, but his
- 2:46Speaker 1: real name is Derethy with Henson. How you domber brother,
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's good to be love that that's the beautiful and
- 2:54Speaker 1: she does you know, you know, you know there is
- 2:57Speaker 1: you know, man um, you know just seeing your career
- 3:01Speaker 1: man soul food did with my girl Felicia Henderson and
- 3:04Speaker 1: just uh coming on the show when I was managing
- 3:06Speaker 1: Steve Harvey and all those years just talking and just
- 3:09Speaker 1: seeing your career man, and it's it's a body of
- 3:12Speaker 1: work man that you have to be proud of. Huh. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'm I'm appreciative, you know. I was able, very very
- 3:19Speaker 1: early on to watch very successful people, and as you said,
- 3:22Speaker 1: not just successful financially, but success mentally, since that's spiritually.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And what I found is that that comes from um
- 3:30Speaker 1: what we do often. You know, what's done in the dark,
- 3:34Speaker 1: is done is shown in the light. So when you're
- 3:36Speaker 1: working when nobody can see you, then it gets shown
- 3:40Speaker 1: in the light. I believe those people are are the
- 3:42Speaker 1: blessed ones. And UM, so I don't I don't wait
- 3:45Speaker 1: for anybody to acknowledge me or recognize me. They'll see
- 3:49Speaker 1: the work, um when it appears. But the work has
- 3:53Speaker 1: to be done when nobody is watching. Well, guess what
- 3:56Speaker 1: a lot of people watching you, my friend. And you
- 3:58Speaker 1: know that too in your social media, you're walking down
- 4:00Speaker 1: the street, you're buying groceries. You are a very recognizable face, now,
- 4:05Speaker 1: aren't you, sir, Yes, sir, and I and I'm thankful
- 4:08Speaker 1: for it and I appreciated you know, all the way
- 4:11Speaker 1: from dance to choreography to now acting and and and offering.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I'm just uh, you know, I've been given the ability
- 4:19Speaker 1: to be inspired to do all of these things, and
- 4:22Speaker 1: so I just do them. I just do them. I
- 4:25Speaker 1: get it done. Well, let's let's talk. Let's let's go
- 4:27Speaker 1: to acting first, okay, and then we're gonna slide in
- 4:29Speaker 1: the entrepreneurship, which is your your clothing line T Shirts,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and then we're gonna go into the BT plus car
- 4:35Speaker 1: Webber's the family business. Now you MC new drama Double Cross.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Tell us about that and what time and data comes? Yes,
- 4:43Speaker 1: Double Crosses streaming live right now on the U m
- 4:47Speaker 1: C network. Um, everybody knows that Bob Johnson that his
- 4:51Speaker 1: network uh and uh Crystal uh and Howard Gibson created
- 4:57Speaker 1: this show called Double Cross and it's fantastic. I played
- 5:02Speaker 1: Detective Ryan on the show. And the and the show
- 5:05Speaker 1: is about a set of twins who are actually vigilante,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but vigilante is for good, so in some aspect they're superheroes.
- 5:13Speaker 1: They are again child trafficking and they decided to do
- 5:17Speaker 1: something about it. And you know it's Eric and Erica
- 5:20Speaker 1: Cross uh and uh played by Jeff lows And and
- 5:25Speaker 1: Ashley Williams. And I believe it's the first of its kind,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and um, I was blessed to get called by by
- 5:32Speaker 1: Howard gets in. You know, he said, look, man, I
- 5:35Speaker 1: want Darren Hinson to play this detective and uh, oh man,
- 5:39Speaker 1: it was it was beautiful. You know a lot of
- 5:41Speaker 1: times in in this industry you've got to audition and
- 5:44Speaker 1: do things and and uh, you know, it's it's beautiful
- 5:48Speaker 1: to just be called because of your passwork. And that's
- 5:51Speaker 1: what they say, you know, your your your passwork is
- 5:55Speaker 1: your audition for your next job. And so you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: in a lot of way, I've been blessed to have
- 6:02Speaker 1: done many different movies and TV shows by um Call
- 6:06Speaker 1: and Response. So what that simply means is my work
- 6:09Speaker 1: is now speaking for itself. And I've been blessed to
- 6:12Speaker 1: be in the role of Detective Ryan on the Double
- 6:15Speaker 1: Cross series UM which is as I said again, on
- 6:19Speaker 1: the UMC network. We have six episodes there and it's
- 6:23Speaker 1: the first of this kind. This type of show has
- 6:25Speaker 1: never been seen before, and it's one of those thrillers
- 6:28Speaker 1: shows that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
- 6:31Speaker 1: UM and I think impactful shows because of the topic
- 6:35Speaker 1: at hand. And so again it's it's it's something that
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm very very proud of and we are already looking
- 6:42Speaker 1: forward to the second season and are greenlet in the
- 6:45Speaker 1: second season. Wow, that's really good. Important because I always
- 6:49Speaker 1: tell Peo about the entertainment business because there's so much uncertainty,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and when you see you have a check coming, you
- 6:55Speaker 1: can kind of breathe a little, relax a little bit
- 6:58Speaker 1: and say, hey, man, I gotta I gotta check coming,
- 7:01Speaker 1: because I can plan differently. Well, sometimes I've been on
- 7:04Speaker 1: shows where you're thinking about to do twenties episodes and
- 7:06Speaker 1: over after three because I stay uncertainty of this basin
- 7:10Speaker 1: And how how have you mentally been able to deal
- 7:12Speaker 1: with that over the years? Darn well? You know I learned,
- 7:16Speaker 1: as I said, very early on, I had the ability
- 7:18Speaker 1: to work with Michael Jackson with prints, you know, as
- 7:21Speaker 1: most people know. You know, I created the dance steps
- 7:26Speaker 1: for Instincts by Bye Bye, worked with Britney Spears, worked
- 7:29Speaker 1: with Christina Aguilera and k Class. Yes, so very early
- 7:33Speaker 1: on I learned to manage money and and and and
- 7:37Speaker 1: there was a saying, you know, you can work hard
- 7:39Speaker 1: for your money or you can make your money work
- 7:40Speaker 1: hard for you. You know, masterp Uh talked about that
- 7:44Speaker 1: all the time. And so when you when you have
- 7:47Speaker 1: great mentors, um and and in society you can see
- 7:52Speaker 1: other people's failures. That's a great teacher as well. And
- 7:56Speaker 1: so I've been able to um you know, do what
- 8:01Speaker 1: I was told to do, which is make my money
- 8:03Speaker 1: work for me and not disrespect the process of money.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Money is a currency. It needs to keep flowing. So
- 8:10Speaker 1: investments were important to me. Giving to the right people
- 8:13Speaker 1: at the right times were important to me. And then
- 8:16Speaker 1: being a blessing to people is incredibly important. Not throwing
- 8:20Speaker 1: away money, but blessing the right people where it becomes
- 8:23Speaker 1: a seed that gets planted and rooted, which germinates and
- 8:27Speaker 1: grows into a tree that produces food that creates other seeds.
- 8:31Speaker 1: So for those people who are are spiritual in this thought,
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about, that way, that way
- 8:38Speaker 1: you don't have to be of those who are who
- 8:44Speaker 1: are just surviving, but you could be thriving because of
- 8:48Speaker 1: things that you have done that speak for you in
- 8:50Speaker 1: the past. It's really amazing when I look at the
- 8:53Speaker 1: you know, when I say amazing, I mean when we
- 8:56Speaker 1: were younger. You know, we we don't see it, we
- 8:59Speaker 1: don't We're just doing it. We're just doing it. As
- 9:02Speaker 1: you get older, you know, the opportunity to get less
- 9:04Speaker 1: and less, because that's what getting old in Hollywood does
- 9:06Speaker 1: to you. And you appreciate the moments that you get,
- 9:09Speaker 1: but you really get that moment from your resume or
- 9:12Speaker 1: your body of work. That's why it's important the relationships
- 9:16Speaker 1: that you cultivated going on set to being a professional,
- 9:19Speaker 1: being showing up on time, being dependable. That's what really
- 9:23Speaker 1: what we're talking about on this call is that your
- 9:25Speaker 1: career and the and the quality of work, the quality
- 9:29Speaker 1: of respect and the professionals is what's keeping you in
- 9:32Speaker 1: the business along with your talent. But sometype talents could
- 9:34Speaker 1: be usurved because of ignorance. That's right. Talentar will only
- 9:39Speaker 1: take you so far. I mean you, you and I
- 9:41Speaker 1: we have seen each other many different times, you know,
- 9:44Speaker 1: along the years, and one of the things that is
- 9:46Speaker 1: important is you you got to know that talent can
- 9:49Speaker 1: only get you so far. You have to have great
- 9:51Speaker 1: work ethic. You also have to have great relationships that
- 9:55Speaker 1: you consistently build. In this industry, you know, there's the
- 9:59Speaker 1: same each one teach one, maybe we can reach one.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And what we know um in this universe is the
- 10:06Speaker 1: continent is change. People are changing from high positions all
- 10:09Speaker 1: the time. You know, ceo CEOs of company are always interchanging.
- 10:14Speaker 1: So relationships are very very important. And then your mind
- 10:19Speaker 1: developing is very important because nothing stays the same. You know,
- 10:24Speaker 1: technology is growing, so there are people. Imagine being a
- 10:28Speaker 1: person who uses a typewriter today in the day of
- 10:31Speaker 1: computer Imagine a person who just mails things, you know,
- 10:35Speaker 1: overseves a post to sending an email which gets in
- 10:38Speaker 1: you know, a person's uh inbox in a nanosecond. So
- 10:42Speaker 1: you you you've got to consistently grow in society and
- 10:46Speaker 1: growing you have to grow mentally, physically, spiritual, well not physically,
- 10:50Speaker 1: but you know, you have to grow mentally and spiritually
- 10:53Speaker 1: and and economically in order to thrive in today's market space.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And and it takes cultivation and relationships in order to
- 11:02Speaker 1: do that. Well, you know, it's really important that you
- 11:04Speaker 1: say that. And it also talks about understanding multiple strains
- 11:07Speaker 1: of income. And that's why that's why you brought up
- 11:10Speaker 1: to dancing. He was acting, dancing, other opportunities, modeling all
- 11:14Speaker 1: kinds of things that keep that check flowing. And now
- 11:17Speaker 1: you're moving to another line of being an entrepreneur in
- 11:19Speaker 1: the in the clothing line area. Talked to us about
- 11:22Speaker 1: that and why was it important to to go in
- 11:24Speaker 1: that direction with your career with your brain? Well, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: sustainability is incredibly important, and UM, you know when it
- 11:34Speaker 1: comes to housing, you know, investment properties are important. UM,
- 11:39Speaker 1: reinvestment of the money that you have, right, because inflation happens. Right,
- 11:44Speaker 1: it costs more for a local bread today than it
- 11:46Speaker 1: did five years ago. Of course, more for milk today
- 11:49Speaker 1: than it did five years ago. Of course, more for
- 11:51Speaker 1: water today than it did five years ago. And so
- 11:54Speaker 1: sustainability is incredibly important. And so one of the things
- 11:58Speaker 1: that I realized was UM. And this came after UM,
- 12:03Speaker 1: a very close friend of mine, UM experienced a death
- 12:06Speaker 1: in the family, a suicide, and it was because of UM,
- 12:11Speaker 1: you know, them not being able to handle levels of
- 12:14Speaker 1: difficulty and just stress and and and unfortunately she committed suicide.
- 12:19Speaker 1: And I said, man, I've got to do something now.
- 12:22Speaker 1: People know that I speak, you know, long and strong.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I speak you know, for companies UM doing their brand
- 12:28Speaker 1: marketing campaigns. I speak in colleges, University's HBC used. But
- 12:33Speaker 1: one of the things that I said is I can't
- 12:34Speaker 1: be everywhere at one time, which is why I started
- 12:37Speaker 1: to offer books. But then I thought, then, you know
- 12:40Speaker 1: people love wearing shirts that had things on them. So
- 12:43Speaker 1: I came up with the idea. I was blessed with
- 12:45Speaker 1: this idea of being a billboard for God, and I said,
- 12:50Speaker 1: I want to be a billboard for God. So I
- 12:52Speaker 1: named the company God's Billboard T Shirts, And so I
- 12:57Speaker 1: created God's Billboard T shirts. One of the T shirt
- 13:00Speaker 1: to say I am more than enough and I approved
- 13:03Speaker 1: this message the other because people need to know that
- 13:08Speaker 1: they're more than enough. You don't You don't need anybody
- 13:12Speaker 1: to say you're you're validated. And when I thought about yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 1: when I thought about that, I was like, oh, here
- 13:18Speaker 1: it is. I'm already validated by the most Time. I
- 13:21Speaker 1: don't need your approval. And so that's another T shirt.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So I am more than enough. I approved this message.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I am validated by the most high I don't need
- 13:31Speaker 1: your approval. Is my other T shirt. One of the
- 13:34Speaker 1: other T shirts says I'm a spiritual warrior. I cite
- 13:37Speaker 1: my battles through prayer. You see, So be a T
- 13:41Speaker 1: shirt that let the shirts do to talking and their
- 13:44Speaker 1: power words that's what we call the empower words, right,
- 13:48Speaker 1: that empower you, And it was it was interesting. I
- 13:51Speaker 1: head this lady one time. This guy was talking to
- 13:53Speaker 1: this woman and he was like, well, well, sister, tell
- 13:56Speaker 1: me how old you are. She said, you know, you
- 13:58Speaker 1: never asked a woman's age, And I thought, I said,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know what, yeah? Or their wait, and I said,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you know what, good things take time, so don't ask
- 14:07Speaker 1: my age. That's another T shirt that I have and
- 14:10Speaker 1: women love that T shirt and I just thought, I've
- 14:13Speaker 1: heard women over the say, you know, a gentleman never
- 14:15Speaker 1: asked a woman as an age, and so I created
- 14:17Speaker 1: the shirt that says, good things take time, so don't
- 14:20Speaker 1: ask my age. So God's Billboard T shirt is about
- 14:23Speaker 1: being a billboard or God and about being empowered. And
- 14:29Speaker 1: so you let your shirt do the talking and so
- 14:32Speaker 1: people know, you know, when when you speak, you put
- 14:35Speaker 1: your brain on display. So I just thought, sometimes we
- 14:38Speaker 1: don't want to ask to say anything, so we can
- 14:40Speaker 1: let our shirts do the talking. So that's what we
- 14:42Speaker 1: do at God's Billboard t shirts dot com. We let
- 14:45Speaker 1: our shirts do the talking. Well, my friend, I want
- 14:47Speaker 1: to help you on my social media, on my fan club,
- 14:51Speaker 1: give me a banner. That's why I created Money Making Conversations,
- 14:54Speaker 1: so I can bring entrepreneurs like you who are recognized
- 14:56Speaker 1: as celebrities and sometimes people forget they have other act
- 15:00Speaker 1: of opportunities to be entrepreneurs. And that's what I've created
- 15:04Speaker 1: a month. That's why I created Money Main Conversation. So
- 15:06Speaker 1: definitely to have your team get him over to me.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I have a newsletter go out every week to ninety thousand,
- 15:11Speaker 1: almost got a million social media followers and the I
- 15:14Speaker 1: will promote you, brother, You're my man. It's beautiful. I
- 15:18Speaker 1: love you to like and I'm just I'm really thankful
- 15:21Speaker 1: to be speaking to you, you know, after so many
- 15:24Speaker 1: years of us knowing each other. Absolutely. Well, let's let's
- 15:27Speaker 1: get back to let's let's get back to the show
- 15:30Speaker 1: where you are. Let me say, let me see sexy,
- 15:33Speaker 1: uh good looking? Fine, that's what all the women be saying.
- 15:37Speaker 1: You know, tough, a killer, smart, Um, my man, I'll
- 15:42Speaker 1: tell you the family business. Now you play Orlando Duncan
- 15:46Speaker 1: uh have a degree have a degree in chemistry? Correct? Okay?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Um it was suddenly after the c C the second season.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Now see you when your clothes? Now are you picking
- 15:59Speaker 1: out all your clone. Yeah, you know we we we
- 16:02Speaker 1: have a great um fashion and costume designer on the show,
- 16:07Speaker 1: A Dream and a Dream And I had a conversation
- 16:10Speaker 1: about the second season and what we wanted to do is,
- 16:14Speaker 1: you know, Duncan's are very wealthy family. That's a very
- 16:17Speaker 1: astute family, very well respected family and UM and you know,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Orlando has a a style. You know, we always see
- 16:30Speaker 1: him with his toothpick and we always see I ask
- 16:33Speaker 1: you about that. We talked about that too, yes, uh.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And we see him with these with these you know
- 16:40Speaker 1: beats that he wears these precious stones around his neck.
- 16:43Speaker 1: We always see him in that. And so that is
- 16:46Speaker 1: that is something that I wanted to bring to the
- 16:48Speaker 1: table for the character because of certain awarenesses that are
- 16:52Speaker 1: gonna unfold during the season. And and and so we
- 16:58Speaker 1: talked about the second season and holding because you know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you get more money, and we know more money, more problems.
- 17:04Speaker 1: But at the same time is you know, he's not
- 17:06Speaker 1: a flashy dude, but he's a very confident dude. And
- 17:10Speaker 1: sold the second season, we just decided to you know,
- 17:13Speaker 1: style them up a little bit more, make them a
- 17:14Speaker 1: little bit fresher and cleaner. And I think that Adrea
- 17:18Speaker 1: has done a great job doing that. It's finally here,
- 17:21Speaker 1: the season of celebration, and no matter how you celebrate
- 17:24Speaker 1: with family and friends, whether you're preparing for Reis Magos
- 17:28Speaker 1: or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going to midnight mass,
- 17:31Speaker 1: Coals has just what you need to make those traditions special.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Plus you'll find gifts for all your loved ones. Send
- 17:38Speaker 1: warm wishes with Cozy Fleece's sweaters, loungeware, blankets and throws.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Support minority owned or founded brands by giving gifts from
- 17:47Speaker 1: Human Nation and shame moisture, or treat them to everyone's
- 17:50Speaker 1: favorite active wear from top brands like Nike, Adidas, and
- 17:54Speaker 1: under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals Cares
- 17:57Speaker 1: is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed
- 18:02Speaker 1: to the health and well being of our communities. No
- 18:05Speaker 1: matter how you celebrate, when you shop at Coals, you're
- 18:08Speaker 1: right where you belong. So this season, give with all

- 19:15Speaker 1: E R. Dot Ai was called My Eye because Steve
- 19:19Speaker 1: premiere episode, the premium episode, the suit jacket you had
- 19:23Speaker 1: on was one of my suits, one of my material
- 19:26Speaker 1: right there, so I know she, I know where she
- 19:28Speaker 1: got that from. Then you had that fur coat on,
- 19:33Speaker 1: that furk on, that half fur coat on. Then you
- 19:36Speaker 1: had that yellow jacket, man, that was cool yellow jack.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Then you had that orange jacket. Man. All I know
- 19:45Speaker 1: is man that I knew they stepped up because I
- 19:47Speaker 1: saw the first season and I came back because that's
- 19:49Speaker 1: the first thing I got to ask, darn man, your clothing,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know, is outstanding. It fits your brand, it fits
- 19:56Speaker 1: the it fits the killer and the sexy guy that
- 20:00Speaker 1: you are because you're not trying to look like you
- 20:03Speaker 1: trying to. But I expect that to be you exactly.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Orlando is a diversified man. And as I said, you know,
- 20:12Speaker 1: when he walked into a room, you know, all eyes
- 20:14Speaker 1: turned to him, and that's really what it's about. You know,
- 20:18Speaker 1: when he shows up, he's making a statement. So every
- 20:21Speaker 1: time he makes a move. If you remember when he
- 20:24Speaker 1: wore the jacket the fur, his father else said, what
- 20:28Speaker 1: is that? He says, it's my coat. He says, but
- 20:32Speaker 1: what is it? He said, Yeah, but I look good
- 20:34Speaker 1: and it's all right, you know what I mean. So
- 20:36Speaker 1: it's like he can do that. Yeah, you know, and
- 20:41Speaker 1: he said, he said, yeah, you're the boss, and he's said, yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 1: you're right, I have the boss. And so you know
- 20:47Speaker 1: he does things the way he wants and you know
- 20:49Speaker 1: he always walks with his protection in case anybody wants
- 20:52Speaker 1: to act up or act out. And so you know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: Orlando is the cats that he's quiet, but he's always
- 20:58Speaker 1: aware of his round, is what he's doing, where he's going,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and the things that he can't control. You know, he
- 21:05Speaker 1: makes sure that he puts himself in a position to understand, um,
- 21:11Speaker 1: what he must do next. It was always good. He hasn't.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I'm talking to Darrend Watson. He has a show on
- 21:17Speaker 1: u mc uh the streaming right now, already been renewed
- 21:20Speaker 1: called Double Cross, but we're talking about this new series
- 21:23Speaker 1: that's airing right now on BT Plus. It's called The
- 21:26Speaker 1: Family Business. He's a member of the Duncan family, which
- 21:29Speaker 1: is a powerful family that rides through Duncan Motors. That's
- 21:34Speaker 1: what everybody says. It's exotic cards. But at night they
- 21:37Speaker 1: got a sister. Where you got we got London, you
- 21:40Speaker 1: got pairs their sisters. Then you got Sasha, she's the niece.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, the sexiness is great. But before we
- 21:48Speaker 1: get into those characters, how did you get the opportunity
- 21:50Speaker 1: to get this role? Darren? Yeah, it's it's amazing because
- 21:56Speaker 1: Tridestine Films actually UH produces the oh and um and
- 22:02Speaker 1: you know, I I have a relationship with Endy and
- 22:05Speaker 1: Trey and Veronica and and uh and you know, I
- 22:09Speaker 1: remember I created this vision board. You know, as as
- 22:13Speaker 1: I said, Darrende with Henson is a man who likes
- 22:16Speaker 1: to evolve, darrend with Henton as a man who likes
- 22:19Speaker 1: to grow and diversify. And I remember one day sitting
- 22:22Speaker 1: down and I said, I need to create a new
- 22:25Speaker 1: vision board. So I sat down and I wrote out
- 22:28Speaker 1: this vision board, and I thought about people that I
- 22:30Speaker 1: wanted to work with, and um, you know, I had
- 22:34Speaker 1: a bunch of different names on the vision board and
- 22:39Speaker 1: it was it was amazing because I wrote Armanda Santy
- 22:43Speaker 1: on my vision board. He did this movie years ago
- 22:46Speaker 1: called Mambo King and UH with Anthonio Vendett. I said,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I loved that film, that film, and so I put
- 22:54Speaker 1: Armanda Santy on my vision board one of the people
- 22:58Speaker 1: I put on my vision board to work with. About
- 23:01Speaker 1: three weeks later, I get a call from Andy Brown.
- 23:03Speaker 1: She said, brother, I got something for you. I said,
- 23:06Speaker 1: talk to me Andy. She said, you know we're working
- 23:09Speaker 1: with car Webb. We did it there with car Webb
- 23:12Speaker 1: for all of his books. And we're gonna be shooting
- 23:14Speaker 1: a movie for family Business, and we want you to
- 23:18Speaker 1: play the son of Ernie Hudson. And I said, come on,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I said, stopped playing with me? And she said no,
- 23:26Speaker 1: she said, and she explained about the exotic car business
- 23:30Speaker 1: and of course the underground business. And I said, Andy,
- 23:33Speaker 1: send me the script. I want to read it. I said,
- 23:36Speaker 1: but based upon what you what you're saying, I can
- 23:39Speaker 1: almost tell you you know what I'm saying. This is
- 23:41Speaker 1: something I'm gonna love to do. I said, tell me
- 23:43Speaker 1: who else is involved? She said, get this out of
- 23:46Speaker 1: mind Asante. I said, come on, man, and see. So
- 23:51Speaker 1: that's why it's important to write down your vision and
- 23:55Speaker 1: make it plain, because the law of attraction is very,
- 23:58Speaker 1: very real. And when I got the script, I've read it.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I mean, you you just don't say no. It's like
- 24:05Speaker 1: There'll Washington being given the American Gangster script, like you
- 24:09Speaker 1: just don't say no. And when I got the script,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I read it. I called to back the next day
- 24:15Speaker 1: and I said, I'm in. And so immediately it was
- 24:20Speaker 1: Ernie Huston, Valley Pediford, Amanda Sante you know, and and
- 24:24Speaker 1: the rest of the cat and I became Orlando Duncan
- 24:28Speaker 1: when the contracts were signed and the history of the
- 24:33Speaker 1: family business, uh and call Weathers the family Business Tried
- 24:37Speaker 1: Destined had begun. And then of course b Et picked
- 24:42Speaker 1: it up as a series because we were shooting it
- 24:45Speaker 1: for a movie, I know, but b Et fell in
- 24:48Speaker 1: love with it and said, no, we want this as
- 24:51Speaker 1: our series. And then when b Et signed it in
- 24:55Speaker 1: the Family Business premiered, it became like the super Bowl
- 24:59Speaker 1: Champs for b T Man. I'm just telling you that. Uh,
- 25:03Speaker 1: you know, I've watched the series grow from the first episode.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I watched the characters developed, and I can see the
- 25:10Speaker 1: more the money being invested into the series and all
- 25:13Speaker 1: that stuff. You know. Listen. The two things I really
- 25:15Speaker 1: like about the series some of the things that you
- 25:18Speaker 1: guys have dropped into this series that I don't normally see.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I love that NASCAR diversity episode. Mm hmmm. I thought
- 25:24Speaker 1: that was small and very time to talk about that. Yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 1: it's genius. It's it's again it's the mind of car
- 25:31Speaker 1: Webber and bringing NASCAR into it. You know, NASCAR now
- 25:35Speaker 1: as black drivers, so why not acknowledge NASCAR and and
- 25:39Speaker 1: their diversity program, and that's exactly what we talked about
- 25:42Speaker 1: on the show. You know, diversification is incredibly important and UM,
- 25:47Speaker 1: so they brought that in which which also brings a
- 25:50Speaker 1: much larger audience in you know, NASCAR is huge and
- 25:55Speaker 1: UM and and to speak about the genius of Car Webber.
- 25:57Speaker 1: As you can see, we also have Latino players on
- 26:01Speaker 1: the show. UM. You know Yadi Rivera who plays Consuela
- 26:05Speaker 1: Mario Rivera is on the show. You know what I'm saying.
- 26:08Speaker 1: We got we got Luke, we got Luski Um on
- 26:12Speaker 1: the show. Who people know from Soul Train, who's killing
- 26:16Speaker 1: um you know his his his role as signor cruise UM.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You know who's now in a wheelchair. UM. It's just
- 26:25Speaker 1: you know, it's diversification on the show. You know, it's
- 26:28Speaker 1: a diversified um. UM A lot on the show, actors
- 26:32Speaker 1: on the show, and it appears to everybody. You know,
- 26:36Speaker 1: the first season we had you know, Asian people on
- 26:40Speaker 1: the show. And so you know Carl Weber and his mind,
- 26:44Speaker 1: um and his genius um in writing, UM, and then
- 26:48Speaker 1: Trey Haley's directing. It is just it really just goes
- 26:52Speaker 1: hand in hand with the genius that we know to
- 26:54Speaker 1: be the family business. And it's all held together by
- 26:59Speaker 1: you know, super producer you know, Andy Brown, absolutely, you know. Yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 1: And then then another thing that I noticed about the
- 27:09Speaker 1: series was the use of the Nation of Islam type
- 27:13Speaker 1: style the brothers. Yeah, that I've never seen that, I've
- 27:18Speaker 1: never seen like this in a series, and I thought
- 27:21Speaker 1: that was very uniquely put in there and style and
- 27:24Speaker 1: poignedly placed. Talk about that. Yeah, well, we have two
- 27:28Speaker 1: different types of brothers on the show. We have the
- 27:33Speaker 1: Um with all due respect, with all due respect, we
- 27:38Speaker 1: have you know, the type UM that we see on
- 27:42Speaker 1: the show, Um, which we call um Um brother minister,
- 27:48Speaker 1: who was presents a similar type, a similar type Nation
- 27:53Speaker 1: of Islam. And then you have the extremist UM that
- 27:58Speaker 1: brother in the Trench, Yeah, brother Hector in the Trench
- 28:01Speaker 1: character who's you know, just extreme and street and you know,
- 28:07Speaker 1: jail written and vigilantes, which is completely different from the
- 28:13Speaker 1: representation of the brother brother minister, who's the peaceful um
- 28:21Speaker 1: organized um you know, you know, type of Muslim UM.
- 28:27Speaker 1: And you know, so that is more of a Nation
- 28:32Speaker 1: of Islam type that he represents. And we can see
- 28:35Speaker 1: that even Orlando took instruction and was under He's always
- 28:45Speaker 1: take that advice and it's served him well all over
- 28:47Speaker 1: the years. Absolutely, and we can see the chemists. He's educated.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You know, he's a man of respect and honor. So
- 28:57Speaker 1: we can see that, you know, show on the show. Wow,
- 29:00Speaker 1: you know, I want to get a little bit deeper
- 29:02Speaker 1: into this. Uh. As you know, I'm a fan of
- 29:04Speaker 1: the show. As you can tell, I'm talking to uh
- 29:06Speaker 1: darrend with with Wins Darren d with Henson. Excuse me,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I got tongk tired after d with I apologized, Darren,
- 29:15Speaker 1: But on the family Business, let's talk about you know
- 29:18Speaker 1: some of the people I love on this. You got
- 29:20Speaker 1: Tretch on the show, Lisa Ray on the show, My
- 29:24Speaker 1: boy got killed with Clifton Pile on the show. Valerie Petroford,
- 29:28Speaker 1: she's on the playing the Mama Charlotte on the show.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Just just what of course, Ernie Hudson being the LC
- 29:36Speaker 1: and my boy Michael John White he's in jail, he
- 29:39Speaker 1: plays Vegas. Just just just a great, great talent man.
- 29:44Speaker 1: It's just out there. And Parish I think she just
- 29:47Speaker 1: got cast as the new batwoman for c W. And
- 29:51Speaker 1: so you know they're stealing talent from the show. Now
- 29:54Speaker 1: what I'm saying, that's amazing. You know, try Destin has
- 29:58Speaker 1: done such a good eight job by bringing you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: people together. You know, Michael Ji White and I are
- 30:05Speaker 1: very close with like brothers in real life, so he
- 30:07Speaker 1: was a perfect pick to play my brother um Vegas
- 30:11Speaker 1: in the show. And then of course our patriarch Ernie
- 30:14Speaker 1: Hudson and our matriarch Valley Pediford are just I mean,
- 30:18Speaker 1: value and Ernie together um as as husband and wife
- 30:22Speaker 1: on the show are just I don't think it just
- 30:25Speaker 1: gets any better. And when when when she kicked Sanya
- 30:29Speaker 1: at the house, man I was I was saying, I
- 30:36Speaker 1: don't know if he watched these other scenes, but boy,
- 30:38Speaker 1: that's about the coldest seed I've seen a woman dude
- 30:42Speaker 1: on TV to another woman. We've already voted her as
- 30:45Speaker 1: an Emmy winner as far as we're concerned, I swear
- 30:51Speaker 1: to you that's seen right there. She should get an
- 30:53Speaker 1: Emmy called right she said, We're we're done here with
- 30:59Speaker 1: the with the battery. That that says right there. I
- 31:05Speaker 1: gotta get on the show to talk about that scene
- 31:06Speaker 1: that right there alone, because because for the show, the
- 31:10Speaker 1: reason it works is a family show. We all live
- 31:13Speaker 1: in the same house. Y'all know, y'all deal, you're dealing
- 31:17Speaker 1: with danger, we know. And the thing I like about
- 31:20Speaker 1: usually you see the white series, make this happen, make
- 31:23Speaker 1: it work like this, And to see a black series
- 31:27Speaker 1: accomplished what we see all TV all the time, like
- 31:29Speaker 1: the Sopranos and all the Godfather shows that are touchable shows,
- 31:34Speaker 1: all these shows, and to see it being manipulated so
- 31:37Speaker 1: well and being articulated and bring credibility because I'm telling you, brother,
- 31:42Speaker 1: you know, when they dropped six episodes, I think the
- 31:44Speaker 1: last second I watched them, I watched them, okay, and
- 31:48Speaker 1: waiting for seven whenever that comes out. I don't know
- 31:51Speaker 1: when that's dropping, but they need to hurry up because
- 31:53Speaker 1: your boy when waiting. Look, we look, we're waiting to
- 31:57Speaker 1: get back to work. But I gotta tell you when
- 31:59Speaker 1: we were on that when she did that scene, the
- 32:01Speaker 1: whole set was quiet. It was like, yeah, it was
- 32:06Speaker 1: like every everybody. Everybody moved and walked away because it
- 32:12Speaker 1: was like nobody was getting their hug when she had
- 32:15Speaker 1: that knife in her hand, because everybody felt it. That's man,
- 32:21Speaker 1: let me tell you, she made everybody walk out that
- 32:24Speaker 1: house I'm gonna tell you that right now. And so
- 32:27Speaker 1: that's what you get on the Family Business. You get
- 32:29Speaker 1: people who come to work, you get people who come
- 32:33Speaker 1: to play, you get people who come to lay it down.
- 32:37Speaker 1: The Duncans ain't playing. Nobody came to to to to
- 32:42Speaker 1: fall asleep. We came to put into the work and
- 32:46Speaker 1: to create legacy on the show. And you know, I
- 32:50Speaker 1: was telling somebody this the other day. I said, you know,
- 32:53Speaker 1: Lightning has struck, you know, twice for me when it
- 32:58Speaker 1: comes to family shows. You know, Star was blessed to
- 33:00Speaker 1: get soul full and now I'm on the Family Business,
- 33:05Speaker 1: which is which is the strong, beautiful, charismatic not to
- 33:10Speaker 1: be messed with family. Lightning has truly struck twice for me,
- 33:15Speaker 1: and so for me it's something that I really again,
- 33:18Speaker 1: I'm incredibly proud of to work with these actors. You know,
- 33:22Speaker 1: we got Tammy on the show, we got Michael. Let's
- 33:25Speaker 1: talk about let's talk about the right quick old Tammy's
- 33:27Speaker 1: character because I like what you guys did with our character.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Because in the in the pilot episode, Harris hit her.
- 33:33Speaker 1: You know, so I thought she's gonna play an abusive woman.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But the new season she's not taking that stuff. I
- 33:39Speaker 1: like the fact they made her strong because, like they said,
- 33:42Speaker 1: like Junior said, before there was Paris, there was London.
- 33:46Speaker 1: She's a duncan. She was, She's a dunk and that
- 33:49Speaker 1: could only go on for so long. And you see,
- 33:51Speaker 1: she had a out of marital affair. Um and but
- 33:56Speaker 1: we got to see what happened when that happens. You know,
- 34:00Speaker 1: she she had an out of matter affair. But then
- 34:03Speaker 1: look what happened. Look who he was, you know what
- 34:05Speaker 1: I'm saying. So then yeah, so that that that was
- 34:08Speaker 1: a lesson for her too, like don't don't step out
- 34:11Speaker 1: of your barried what you ain't gonna mess with me? Man,
- 34:14Speaker 1: act like I don't know your show. Brother, Okay, you
- 34:20Speaker 1: call the day calling every day? Hey man. And I
- 34:27Speaker 1: got to man because I was supporting this. Man, I'm
- 34:29Speaker 1: supporting this. I just when I said, I when I
- 34:32Speaker 1: you know, like I said, I'm busy a lot and
- 34:33Speaker 1: I saw these problems. Said it's my boy key character.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Hey there, I said, Yeah, I said, we gotta get
- 34:41Speaker 1: him on the show. I said, he find him. I
- 34:45Speaker 1: got to talk to him this show on fire. When
- 34:48Speaker 1: Uncle Lou died, you know, Lisa he really lost our
- 34:51Speaker 1: blood had when when when Valerie came over there and
- 34:54Speaker 1: snatched off our head. I'll tell you some Sasha. You
- 34:57Speaker 1: know the reason I like these characters. You guys are busy,
- 35:01Speaker 1: not just on family business, but y'all working on other
- 35:03Speaker 1: episodes like The Young Lady and Sasha, she's on failor Unfair,
- 35:07Speaker 1: which is on Netflix. You know, so so I love
- 35:11Speaker 1: the fact, man, I just wanted to bring you on
- 35:13Speaker 1: the show, not just one time, because I've always been
- 35:16Speaker 1: a fan. I'm in my life in the point now
- 35:18Speaker 1: where I can support people that I love. My brand
- 35:21Speaker 1: is big now where people can come to me. I
- 35:23Speaker 1: can have them promote their brand and promote product that
- 35:26Speaker 1: they want to get out there in the streets into
- 35:27Speaker 1: the general public on social media. And I just want
- 35:30Speaker 1: to take your time and say thank you, man, because
- 35:31Speaker 1: you give me a show that I enjoy that I
- 35:34Speaker 1: look forward to seeing. You. Know. You're looking good. You
- 35:37Speaker 1: are particularly, your hairline is tight, your muscles are right,
- 35:41Speaker 1: your clothes on fire. And Valerie, I gotta get here
- 35:45Speaker 1: on the show because I'm telling that scene right there
- 35:47Speaker 1: when she was cutting that salary. Brother, We're through him, huh.
- 35:51Speaker 1: We're gonna make that happen. We're through here our side, huh.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I don't know what she's saying. We done, we done here.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I have to fly that back. What'd you say? What's outside?
- 36:05Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. We call her mama all
- 36:07Speaker 1: day long, dude, mama. And I love the way y'all
- 36:12Speaker 1: because the first season her character wasn't as dominant as
- 36:15Speaker 1: the second season. I just love the way they've all
- 36:18Speaker 1: flushed out the women to be strong girl for the
- 36:20Speaker 1: second season. All of them are playing. They have a voice.
- 36:24Speaker 1: That's why I love what they did. Tammy, she's not
- 36:25Speaker 1: taking her smack. She's slapping the hair. She's worried about
- 36:29Speaker 1: eating the food, worried about sleeping. He might get shot.
- 36:32Speaker 1: He don't. He's tippatouring around there. Because I didn't like that,
- 36:35Speaker 1: I went, man, he can't. We can't do this, man,
- 36:38Speaker 1: not in the day in London. London. London is a duncan. Yes,
- 36:41Speaker 1: it was absolutely, absolutely so. D I mean, we're going
- 36:46Speaker 1: to the third two minutes. May. I didn't want to
