- 1:38Speaker 1: for having me. I appreciate you. It's a pleasure. You know.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I have to throw my money making shirt off half
- 1:42Speaker 1: a little because money making conversations. So we have to
- 1:45Speaker 1: make happen. What's the great thing about it is that
- 1:48Speaker 1: watching you build your career and watching you, as you know,
- 1:51Speaker 1: stay on the sideline, watch people. I'm started. People I
- 1:54Speaker 1: don't understand. You don't have to jump out there immediately
- 1:56Speaker 1: to say I've arrived. You should have come with some experience.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Let's talk about your background a little bit on being
- 2:02Speaker 1: able to make you an authority, make you authentic, make
- 2:05Speaker 1: you organically appreciated by the people who you give advice to.
- 2:09Speaker 1: How did it all start for you? Yes, it's it's
- 2:12Speaker 1: it started uh nineteen years old, straight out of high school. Actually,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I was working at a video store rest in Peace
- 2:19Speaker 1: to Blockbuster videos, and I knew that I didn't want to,
- 2:23Speaker 1: uh you know, be a store manager. And one day
- 2:25Speaker 1: one of the assistant managers said that they were hiring
- 2:27Speaker 1: at Chase Bank for tellers. Uh. And so I said, oh,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know what you know, let me let me just
- 2:32Speaker 1: test it out. I love money, let me just go
- 2:34Speaker 1: test it out. Um. And so I started my career
- 2:37Speaker 1: as a as a teller at nineteen years old. Uh.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And I did everything you know in banking, from teller
- 2:43Speaker 1: to personal banking to a private banker branch manager. I
- 2:47Speaker 1: was a CEO of a credit union. Um. And while
- 2:50Speaker 1: I was working though one of my my joy I
- 2:54Speaker 1: used to go to to to jails, you know, Rikers Island,
- 2:58Speaker 1: to churches to be of the based organizations and teach
- 3:01Speaker 1: financial literacy. Um. And I'm a big jay Z fan.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So in the in the words of the Honorable Sean Carter. Uh,
- 3:08Speaker 1: there's much bigger issues in the world, I know. So
- 3:10Speaker 1: I first had to take care of the world, I know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: And so I figured, I said, you know what, I
- 3:15Speaker 1: want to do this for a living. And so from
- 3:17Speaker 1: there I just decided, like how do I make money?
- 3:21Speaker 1: How do I make impact? Number one? But then how
- 3:23Speaker 1: do I make an income and an impact? Um? And
- 3:26Speaker 1: that's when I wrote my first book in two thousand
- 3:27Speaker 1: and nine. Uh, and really just kind of you know,
- 3:30Speaker 1: became a speaker, became a financial educator, um. And then
- 3:33Speaker 1: you know, here I am today, still doing the same thing,
- 3:36Speaker 1: still still a financial educator, but really uh, you know,
- 3:40Speaker 1: doing it at a at a level that allows me
- 3:43Speaker 1: to have you know, more impact. Uh. And you know
- 3:46Speaker 1: combine that with with with income as well. Know asked
- 3:48Speaker 1: when we when when I brought you on the show,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and bring you on the show. The whole process is
- 3:52Speaker 1: just to break down a lot of things that people fear,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and people fear money, and people fear banks. Banks intimidate people,
- 3:59Speaker 1: taxes intimidate people. What's the common effects? You know, because
- 4:03Speaker 1: you've been in the bank and you've seen all those
- 4:05Speaker 1: different layers that you have. What is the number one
- 4:08Speaker 1: common denominator that people have and not be afraid of
- 4:11Speaker 1: when they bank. Yeah, I think I think first and
- 4:15Speaker 1: foremost is knowledge, uh, and then second, second of all,
- 4:20Speaker 1: it's the mindset, right because um, you know, once you
- 4:23Speaker 1: have knowledge, the people are afraid of what they don't understand, um.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And so what happens is that a lot of people
- 4:31Speaker 1: don't really understand how banking works, how taxes work. They
- 4:35Speaker 1: don't understand that part of the game, and so what
- 4:38Speaker 1: they attach themselves to is other people's experiences, other what
- 4:42Speaker 1: other people go through, which is normally the negative stuff, um.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And so they attach themselves to that negative aspect of it,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and so that becomes their reality. But if they start
- 4:51Speaker 1: to you know, get knowledgeable, right, the more we understand
- 4:56Speaker 1: how things work, um, that is going to the knowledge
- 4:59Speaker 1: is going to change our mindset and in our mindset
- 5:02Speaker 1: is going to to let us know, um that these
- 5:05Speaker 1: are you know, banking is a tool. Money is a tool.
- 5:08Speaker 1: You know, taxes even are are. It's a tool. And
- 5:11Speaker 1: if you know how to use it the right way,
- 5:13Speaker 1: you can actually use it, you know in your favor.
- 5:16Speaker 1: You know, they're really funny when you are just hearing
- 5:18Speaker 1: your conversation. I smiled because you know, you was talking
- 5:21Speaker 1: about how people can stop you from doing your dreams.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You know, and they have negative spirits because you can
- 5:27Speaker 1: go to people, they're gonna have a negative store before
- 5:28Speaker 1: we have a good store. That's that's fact of life.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And so and in the beginning, I always tell people,
- 5:33Speaker 1: you know, don't let your age, friends, family, and cowork
- 5:36Speaker 1: can stop you from planning and living your dream. At
- 5:38Speaker 1: the age of nineteen, you know, you left Blockbuster, went
- 5:41Speaker 1: to a bank, and then you started having dreams of
- 5:44Speaker 1: thoughts of running the bank, being an executive, talking about
- 5:47Speaker 1: people who didn't believe that you could do that, that
- 5:50Speaker 1: they questioned you and said, no, you're just gonna be
- 5:53Speaker 1: a teller. No, you're not gonna have run a credit union.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Because let's stop so many people's dreams and they allow
- 5:58Speaker 1: those negative so much to dominate and then redirect their dreams. Yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think I think I think it's important, um that
- 6:07Speaker 1: you know, uh, you can't. You can't excuse me, I
- 6:10Speaker 1: don't know. If you hit a dog, don't worry about it, okay, Um,
- 6:15Speaker 1: And so you know, I think I think it's important that, um,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know, when you have a dream, you have to
- 6:21Speaker 1: realize that the dream was given to you for a
- 6:24Speaker 1: particular reason. A lot of times people are so interested in, um,
- 6:29Speaker 1: you know, what their family has to say, what their
- 6:32Speaker 1: friends have to say, not realizing that the dream wasn't
- 6:35Speaker 1: given to them. And so I was met with a
- 6:37Speaker 1: lot of opposition when I had this dream of being
- 6:40Speaker 1: a banker, when I had a dream of, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 1: being a branch manager. Because the truth of the matter
- 6:46Speaker 1: is that, you know, the finance industry is two percent
- 6:49Speaker 1: you know, black, right's supercent minority. And so when when
- 6:52Speaker 1: you know you see so, you know, a black guy
- 6:55Speaker 1: who's from the from the hood, you know, right, I
- 6:57Speaker 1: grew up with St. Nicholas projects in Armand and so
- 7:00Speaker 1: h you know, black guy from Hallam who doesn't have
- 7:03Speaker 1: the education that that was necessary. Um. I had a
- 7:06Speaker 1: lot of nay says that, a lot of people telling
- 7:08Speaker 1: me what I could and couldn't do. But the one
- 7:11Speaker 1: thing is that I just had to attach myself to
- 7:14Speaker 1: that vision. I had to attach myself to that goal
- 7:17Speaker 1: and make sure that I that I just stay focused
- 7:21Speaker 1: on it. One you know, uh they always say representation matters, um,
- 7:25Speaker 1: And the one thing all I needed to see is
- 7:27Speaker 1: one person. I didn't need to see a thousand people.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I just need to see one person that looked like me,
- 7:32Speaker 1: that did what I wanted to do. And once I
- 7:34Speaker 1: saw that one person, that's who I locked in on.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And everything that everybody said, or everybody all the nay says,
- 7:41Speaker 1: it really didn't matter to me because I knew it
- 7:44Speaker 1: was possible, and that belief system, that mindset of knowing
- 7:48Speaker 1: is possible was all I needed. And so I would
- 7:50Speaker 1: tell anybody who has this dream, don't don't share your
- 7:53Speaker 1: dream with somebody who has not lived your dream or
- 7:58Speaker 1: is it has experienced your dream or is experiencing it,
- 8:01Speaker 1: because they're coming from a space of they don't have
- 8:05Speaker 1: the knowledge, right. And so if if you're looking to
- 8:07Speaker 1: to have a successful relationship, you can't talk to somebody
- 8:11Speaker 1: who's never been in a relationship and get and get
- 8:13Speaker 1: relationship advice for them. If you're looking for money advice,
- 8:17Speaker 1: you can't talk to somebody who doesn't have money experience,
- 8:19Speaker 1: Like you have to have money making conversations with people
- 8:23Speaker 1: who know how to make money, been around money, who
- 8:26Speaker 1: want to stand money. So that way that that advice
- 8:29Speaker 1: is coming from a place of where you want to
- 8:32Speaker 1: be or where you wanna go. But though once you
- 8:35Speaker 1: get their advice, it doesn't mean you hold on to
- 8:37Speaker 1: it because things change to right, you take their advice
- 8:40Speaker 1: and now you you mold it. You you create it
- 8:43Speaker 1: for you so it could it would be tailor made
- 8:46Speaker 1: for you, and then you move forward from there. Yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 1: that's why I love That's why I was excited about
- 8:50Speaker 1: bringing on this show. Because you live my monitor, you know.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Stop reading other people's success story, that's their advice, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and start writing your own. Because their pathway or how
- 8:58Speaker 1: they got there is there. For the age is different.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Their agenda may be different than whether you know they're
- 9:03Speaker 1: they're their parental support may be different, and so but
- 9:07Speaker 1: the advice is important. Just don't try to live it
- 9:09Speaker 1: the way they and achieve it the way they achieved it.
- 9:12Speaker 1: But more importantly, when I when I listened to you
- 9:14Speaker 1: communicate all these these these nuggets of information about your
- 9:18Speaker 1: your history, and I tell people between the ages of
- 9:20Speaker 1: eighteen and twenty and three are important because that's when
- 9:23Speaker 1: you're you're out there being yourself. You're you're champion your
- 9:26Speaker 1: own causes. You know, you may not be married yet,
- 9:29Speaker 1: you may be just a guy inspired female inspired by
- 9:32Speaker 1: your dreams. When you get out of that, when you
- 9:35Speaker 1: get your thirds and farties, is when your dreams may
- 9:37Speaker 1: get shifted out of pocket. Now, as you were starting
- 9:41Speaker 1: to grow, what started shifting in and who helped you
- 9:44Speaker 1: stay online? Ash? Because I always call those people important.
- 9:48Speaker 1: A lot of people who just step to the plate
- 9:50Speaker 1: with rashan, are you crazy? Rash, don't do that. Yeah, So,
- 9:55Speaker 1: so I would say first and foremost, Um, you know
- 9:59Speaker 1: I have to, I have to say my wife, right
- 10:02Speaker 1: because when I met her, um, you know, we worked
- 10:05Speaker 1: at the bank together actually, um, and she was my
- 10:09Speaker 1: biggest champion. She saw a lot in me that I
- 10:12Speaker 1: didn't even really see yet. It took me a while
- 10:14Speaker 1: for me to see it, right, And so she was
- 10:16Speaker 1: always speaking life to me. Right. She was always telling me,
- 10:20Speaker 1: you know, like if I accepted something that was less
- 10:22Speaker 1: than you know, what what what what I what I knew,
- 10:25Speaker 1: or or less than what I deserved, she would be like, Na,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you need to you need to step that up, right. Um. So,
- 10:31Speaker 1: so definitely, my my wife was a big part of
- 10:34Speaker 1: my success. But then also, oddly enough, it was people
- 10:40Speaker 1: I I never even met, right, because a lot of um,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you know, my neighborhood, growing up, how I grew up, Um,
- 10:48Speaker 1: you know, I didn't have access to business mentors. I
- 10:51Speaker 1: didn't have access to people that could directly mentor me. Um.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And so a lot of part of my success was
- 10:58Speaker 1: reading books. Part of my six US was watching documentaries.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Part of my success was really, um, just just understanding that,
- 11:07Speaker 1: you know, other people have done what I wanna do.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They laid the blueprint. Uh. And and I stayed motivated
- 11:13Speaker 1: by always, you know, focusing on you know, somebody's story
- 11:17Speaker 1: that you know that that I said, oh wow, this
- 11:19Speaker 1: person came you know, from from from from the neighborhood.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Oh this you know this person is is Is, you know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: has nine brothers, assistants. They grew up in the inner
- 11:28Speaker 1: city too, and they and they got two Emmies and
- 11:30Speaker 1: they you know what I'm saying. It was those type
- 11:33Speaker 1: of stories that got me that that that really kind
- 11:35Speaker 1: of allowed me to continue pushing. So I would definitely say,
- 11:39Speaker 1: you know, my you know, my wife, I would definitely say,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you know stories, uh, you know, documentaries, celebrities, business people.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You know. Reginald Lewis was a big you know uh
- 11:49Speaker 1: you know, you know a big big uh success. Uh,
- 11:52Speaker 1: you know a big influence in my life. Black enterprise, right,
- 11:55Speaker 1: Alfred Edmund Uh, you know a lot of people who
- 11:58Speaker 1: I've watched from afar. But but then eventually, and not
- 12:02Speaker 1: to get philosophical, but eventually, as you start vibrating on
- 12:06Speaker 1: the on the energy of success, you start to now
- 12:09Speaker 1: attract success, right, success attract success. And so as I
- 12:14Speaker 1: started to had to pretend and create these mentors in
- 12:17Speaker 1: my head, as I started to get successful, I now
- 12:21Speaker 1: started to to attract other successful people who have now
- 12:25Speaker 1: been my mentors directly. And so you know, I would
- 12:28Speaker 1: say it's a combination of you know, of of what
- 12:31Speaker 1: I read who are attracted, and then also my my
- 12:34Speaker 1: wife as well. I'm speaking to Ash Cash. He's the
- 12:36Speaker 1: founder and chief financial educated mind Right Money Management, a
- 12:40Speaker 1: financial education and media company have been They blends psychology
- 12:45Speaker 1: and personal finance with music, pop culture, and relevant news
- 12:48Speaker 1: to help people manage their money. Just to keep this conversation,
- 12:50Speaker 1: by managing your money, but I don't see your lifestyle
- 12:52Speaker 1: better in order to live the life that you want.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And that's important because so many people make mistakes when
- 12:58Speaker 1: they always say looking to the person's yard, you know,
- 13:01Speaker 1: just because they got the roads, don't mean you have
- 13:03Speaker 1: to have a roads or your roads that big. You
- 13:04Speaker 1: can buy a small roads for a lot less money
- 13:07Speaker 1: and let it grow to that. But a lot of
- 13:08Speaker 1: people want to match up. And that's a lot of
- 13:11Speaker 1: that's what a lot of people make the errors with money.
- 13:13Speaker 1: They want to match up to what they think is successful.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Like you said earlier, in a lot of their take area,
- 13:18Speaker 1: financial area, you see very few black people people they
- 13:21Speaker 1: look like you. Well, that's why blacks a lot of
- 13:24Speaker 1: times attracted to sports because sports are dominated by African America.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Six of the NFL is black, over of the NBA
- 13:31Speaker 1: is black, and so they oh, that's that's they feel
- 13:34Speaker 1: that's easy. But still in anything you do as there
- 13:39Speaker 1: is work, there is competition. Let's take the blinders off
- 13:43Speaker 1: the fake game. Just because you see a lot of
- 13:45Speaker 1: us don't mean it's easy talk to us. Yeah, And
- 13:49Speaker 1: I love I love that you said that because I
- 13:51Speaker 1: think that's that's what happens right especially now because we
- 13:55Speaker 1: have social media UM. And so social media UM is
- 13:58Speaker 1: the highlight reels. So you see the highlight reel UM
- 14:01Speaker 1: and people say, oh, if he could do it, then
- 14:03Speaker 1: I could do it. But people don't see the sleepless nights.
- 14:06Speaker 1: People don't see the you know, the first you're the
- 14:09Speaker 1: first to wake up, the last to go to bed.
- 14:10Speaker 1: You know that. People don't see the grind that goes
- 14:13Speaker 1: behind that. Um. And so I think I think number one. UM.
- 14:17Speaker 1: That's why when they say life is a is a journey,
- 14:20Speaker 1: not a destination. That's important for people to realize that
- 14:23Speaker 1: if if, if success is a place for you, then
- 14:27Speaker 1: you're doing it wrong. Success can't be a place. Success
- 14:30Speaker 1: can't say I'm successful when I reached this place. That's
- 14:34Speaker 1: absolutely false. You're successful when you wake up every single
- 14:37Speaker 1: day with purpose. You're successful when you say, you know what,
- 14:40Speaker 1: this is what I want. But I love the process
- 14:43Speaker 1: that has taken me to get there, because I promise you,
- 14:47Speaker 1: once you get to whatever destination is there is, there's
- 14:50Speaker 1: going to be something else. You're gonna stop, You're gonna
- 14:52Speaker 1: rest if you must, but then you're you know, you're
- 14:54Speaker 1: gonna say, oh I want you know this, now I
- 14:57Speaker 1: desire this, and then now there's gonna be another The journey, right,
- 15:00Speaker 1: the journey doesn't stop. And so understand that don't look
- 15:05Speaker 1: at somebody else's success and and and fall in love
- 15:08Speaker 1: with the highlight reel. Don't fall in love with you
- 15:11Speaker 1: know the what they're posting on social media? Find out
- 15:15Speaker 1: what is the process? What process did they take to
- 15:18Speaker 1: get to that level? And you know what is that process?
- 15:22Speaker 1: And can you fall in love with the process. If
- 15:25Speaker 1: you cannot fall in love with the process, the success
- 15:28Speaker 1: isn't for you. Right. If you can't fall in love
- 15:31Speaker 1: with the process of what what what it entails to
- 15:35Speaker 1: to to attain what you want to attain, then you
- 15:38Speaker 1: should be focused on something else every single day. Right.
- 15:41Speaker 1: My goal is to inspire and motivate people to be
- 15:45Speaker 1: the best that they could possibly be. Whether I gotta
- 15:48Speaker 1: dime for it or not. I am that right in
- 15:51Speaker 1: my being. I am inspiration in my being. I am motivation.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And so it doesn't feel like work. I know people
- 15:57Speaker 1: say if you if you find, if you find a
- 15:59Speaker 1: job you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And so when I say it doesn't feel like work,
- 16:04Speaker 1: I don't mean that there aren't times where I wake
- 16:06Speaker 1: up and I'm like that. I still love it, right, love,
- 16:12Speaker 1: love and time not usually exclusive. Right, still love it
- 16:16Speaker 1: and still be right and still right. But just understand
- 16:19Speaker 1: though that once I get going, I'm like, ah, this
- 16:22Speaker 1: is this is this is what I'm meant to do,
- 16:23Speaker 1: is what I love to do it. So you know,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I mean everybody to who's who's after success. Just know
- 16:29Speaker 1: that it's a journey to it and make sure you

- 18:26Speaker 1: Service and the Council. Yeah, it's so funny you say that,
- 18:29Speaker 1: because I always tell people I get up at four
- 18:31Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning the Monday through Friday. I said,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm not happy getting up. I said, but I know
- 18:35Speaker 1: that's part of the journey. And I always tell us
- 18:37Speaker 1: share the story of people about my wife. One time
- 18:39Speaker 1: she asked me to she just to drive me to
- 18:41Speaker 1: the airport, you know, And she said, wow, you just
- 18:45Speaker 1: you just don't stop, dude. I said, well, it's not
- 18:48Speaker 1: a question of me stopping. It's just this is a
- 18:50Speaker 1: part of our goals. And you put goals in place,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you have to reach him. And she said, as she said,
- 18:55Speaker 1: do you ever get tired? And I told us that
- 18:57Speaker 1: I'm tired right now, right was saying. And I had
- 19:00Speaker 1: to tell esther because you knew you would appreciate what
- 19:02Speaker 1: I'm saying. Because look, man, look just because I'm moving
- 19:05Speaker 1: forward don't mean I don't want to lay that out.
- 19:07Speaker 1: But that's not part of the mission. And then I
- 19:10Speaker 1: want to throw you a compliment. I'm a big rapper.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm a big rapper friend and my all time favorite
- 19:14Speaker 1: records there's Tupac tupodcast. Nobody can tell me nothing wrong
- 19:18Speaker 1: about Tupac And there's nothing to do with your side,
- 19:20Speaker 1: nothing do with your color. But just listening to that,
- 19:23Speaker 1: those those I would call the lyrics that you just
- 19:25Speaker 1: laid about motivation and inspiration. Man, if you have dropped
- 19:28Speaker 1: the biggest small beat underneath you, I'm telling you I
- 19:33Speaker 1: just took off, took because it felt like I was
- 19:40Speaker 1: listening to the biggest fall of motivational and find out
- 19:43Speaker 1: your expect But you've been duff like that. You've been
- 19:45Speaker 1: dubbed to finance your motivator, haven't you. Absolutely yeah, I've been.
- 19:49Speaker 1: You know. You know the funny thing about that is
- 19:50Speaker 1: because you know, like I said, I am fighting, I
- 19:53Speaker 1: am motivation. Um. And so you know when I teach,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and that's what makes me different. Right, when I teach finance,
- 20:00Speaker 1: I'm not teaching fin I mean, finance could be boring, right,
- 20:03Speaker 1: So I'm not teaching that from a perspective of uh.
- 20:06Speaker 1: You know, you know one plus one equals too. Number
- 20:08Speaker 1: one is the mindset, right, And that's why my company
- 20:11Speaker 1: is called mind Right Money Management, because you have to
- 20:13Speaker 1: have your mind right before you get your money right. Um.
- 20:16Speaker 1: But then you know, I just believe that this. I
- 20:19Speaker 1: believe that every single day that you wake up, it's
- 20:23Speaker 1: a blessing. Everything else is a bonus. Right. And so
- 20:26Speaker 1: with that level of excitement. I need people to be excited.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I want you to be excited with the opportunity to earn.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I want you to be excited that you even have
- 20:35Speaker 1: an opportunity to fulfill your dream. You don't. Don't only
- 20:39Speaker 1: be excited because your dream is fulfilled. Be excited that
- 20:42Speaker 1: you have the opportunity. There are a hundred and fifty
- 20:45Speaker 1: thousand people that die every single day who wish they
- 20:49Speaker 1: have the opportunity that you have. And so I just
- 20:51Speaker 1: wake up inspired and motivated and thankful to God that
- 20:56Speaker 1: I have another opportunity to talk to people. And so
- 21:00Speaker 1: you know, you know, uh, I don't drink coffee. So
- 21:02Speaker 1: this energy that you get right now, this is this
- 21:04Speaker 1: is this is number water, this is h two old.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I don't drink coffee. But it's just an excitement. And
- 21:10Speaker 1: that's why they call me the financial motivator because you know,
- 21:12Speaker 1: I have a special way of of using that excitement
- 21:16Speaker 1: for life to teach you about finance. Because I also
- 21:20Speaker 1: believe that abundance is our birthright, um and so it's
- 21:22Speaker 1: not something that we should be begging for. It isn't
- 21:26Speaker 1: something that we should be compromising ourselves for. It is
- 21:29Speaker 1: our actual birthright. And the more you can get to
- 21:33Speaker 1: the money, the more you can get to your to
- 21:35Speaker 1: the money, the more you can get to the purpose. Right.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So when you start leading with purpose and you start
- 21:40Speaker 1: doing and being who you are every single day, that
- 21:44Speaker 1: is what's going to allow you to uh uh command
- 21:47Speaker 1: the income that you want to command. And the more income, right,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I know Biggie said, more money, more problems. But the
- 21:53Speaker 1: more income, the more impact. Right, more income, more impact.
- 21:57Speaker 1: So that's what it's about. It's about having motivating people
- 22:01Speaker 1: to get to the bag, right, motivating people to get
- 22:04Speaker 1: to that financial abundance that's their birthright, so that way
- 22:07Speaker 1: they can have more impact. Right. I've been broke before, right,
- 22:11Speaker 1: I've had I've been a spaces where I'm counting and
- 22:13Speaker 1: figuring out how' gonna pay bills. I'm not my hundred
- 22:16Speaker 1: percent self, right, I'm not giving you all of ash
- 22:19Speaker 1: cash if I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna
- 22:22Speaker 1: rob Peter to pay Plaull. But but but I promise
- 22:24Speaker 1: you when I when I when I'm in my purpose
- 22:26Speaker 1: and the income is matching the impact, I get the
- 22:29Speaker 1: impact more. And so it's that motivation, Pizzas that'd be
- 22:33Speaker 1: very necessary, and it's very By the way, I don't
- 22:36Speaker 1: drink off for either. I don't drink tea called not
- 22:39Speaker 1: because I just don't like the taste. People do it.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I'm proud of you so so because again it's my
- 22:46Speaker 1: I get up because my body tell me to get up.
- 22:48Speaker 1: But I always tell people this is is the reason I
- 22:50Speaker 1: get up, because I have a reason to get up.
- 22:52Speaker 1: A lot of people just go to bed ash They're
- 22:54Speaker 1: just dive in bed and and then and then when
- 22:56Speaker 1: the love go off, they're mad or they don't know.
- 22:59Speaker 1: But when that long going of what drags me out
- 23:01Speaker 1: of bed is that I know what I have to do,
- 23:04Speaker 1: and it's boy planning for success and about putting forth
- 23:07Speaker 1: that effort. And so when you, like you said with
- 23:09Speaker 1: biggest say more money and more problems, all he's saying is, look,
- 23:12Speaker 1: you can get more money, which means that you're gonna
- 23:14Speaker 1: have to put more effort on what you're gonna do
- 23:16Speaker 1: with it. And that's what this conversation that we're having
- 23:18Speaker 1: is about effort. Everybody wants to be a great athlete,
- 23:21Speaker 1: everybody wants to be a great singer. Everybody wants to
- 23:24Speaker 1: be rich, everybody wants a big house taxes come with that,
- 23:28Speaker 1: electrical bills come with that, gas, all of its much more.
- 23:32Speaker 1: You know. I remember when I was reading John Sally
- 23:35Speaker 1: when he had his house. He bought the big house
- 23:36Speaker 1: in Detroit. He said he had like a seventeen thousand
- 23:39Speaker 1: dollars electric bill. Guess what, he bought a big house
- 23:43Speaker 1: that who came with it? He kept the lights on.
- 23:45Speaker 1: He all those bad rooms have to be. All that
- 23:48Speaker 1: stuff come with it. And that's what more money, more problems.
- 23:51Speaker 1: As a motivator, what do you what do you tell
- 23:54Speaker 1: people who get frustrated when the dream isn't what they
- 23:57Speaker 1: thought it would be when they arrived. Yeah, I think
- 24:01Speaker 1: I think that. So the first thing I tell them,
- 24:04Speaker 1: uh is be gratefool, be grateful that you know that
- 24:07Speaker 1: this is this isn't what you want, right it is.
- 24:10Speaker 1: It is as important to know what you don't want
- 24:13Speaker 1: as it is to know what you do want, right
- 24:15Speaker 1: because knowing what you don't want will get you to
- 24:18Speaker 1: what you want faster. There are many things that that
- 24:20Speaker 1: I thought I wanted. I was like, oh this is oh,
- 24:23Speaker 1: this is it. I'm gonna put my blood, sweat and tears,
- 24:26Speaker 1: and then I get to this destination and I'm like, oh,
- 24:28Speaker 1: that's it. But but now it kind of it kind
- 24:32Speaker 1: of weeds out all of the all of the all
- 24:34Speaker 1: of the things. And so I don't I don't um,
- 24:36Speaker 1: you know, I don't think it's a loss. Right. A
- 24:38Speaker 1: loss isn't a loss, it's a lesson, right, and so
- 24:40Speaker 1: it's not a loss. It's really a lesson. And so
- 24:43Speaker 1: for those who get frustrated, I think I think frustration,
- 24:46Speaker 1: uh is a great tool if you use it right, right,
- 24:50Speaker 1: Because some people use frustration as a way to stop.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Some people use frustration as a way to give up.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Some people use frustration to say, you know what, I'm
- 24:58Speaker 1: not doing this no more. But you need to know
- 25:00Speaker 1: you have to use frustration as a barometer, right, I'll
- 25:03Speaker 1: give I'll give your example. If you ever are driving
- 25:07Speaker 1: late night on any any highway, right and for whatever reasons,
- 25:11Speaker 1: you get tired and you start veering left, what's gonna happen.
- 25:15Speaker 1: You're gonna You're gonna run across those ridgets in the road.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It's gonna wake you up. It's gonna make that noise,
- 25:21Speaker 1: it's gonna wake you up. Imagine if the ridges weren't there,
- 25:24Speaker 1: the ridges weren't there, You'll probably hit the divider, You'll
- 25:27Speaker 1: you'll swirl around, your cause a bad accident. And so
- 25:30Speaker 1: those ridgets on the side. When you get tired and
- 25:33Speaker 1: you start you start veering left or veering right, it's
- 25:36Speaker 1: a it's a it's a wake up call. It's like, yo,
- 25:37Speaker 1: wake up, you you you gotta get up. You're about
- 25:41Speaker 1: the crash. Frustration Is that negative negativity, right, negative feelings?
- 25:45Speaker 1: It's that, it's not it's it's not for you to
- 25:48Speaker 1: scoff at it. It is a it is a barometer.
- 25:51Speaker 1: When you start doing something, you start to get frustrated
- 25:54Speaker 1: and you're like, I hate this, then just don't stop.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Just take it as a sign that you need to
- 25:59Speaker 1: read that the negativity, that negative feeling that you have
- 26:04Speaker 1: is telling you that you are on the wrong track.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And now you gotta figure out how do I how
- 26:10Speaker 1: do I go back to the middle, How do I
- 26:12Speaker 1: go back to this road? So I could go in
- 26:14Speaker 1: the in the direction I need to go. And so
- 26:16Speaker 1: anybody who's feeling frustration, good, good that you're frustrated. You
- 26:20Speaker 1: either care about this thing or is you're not supposed
- 26:22Speaker 1: to be doing it. So now take a step back.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Analyze why are you frustrated? How can you release this frustration?
- 26:29Speaker 1: And and and what should you be doing? Because now
- 26:32Speaker 1: that you know what you don't want to do or
- 26:34Speaker 1: don't like to do, what are the things that you
- 26:35Speaker 1: should be doing. Yeah, it's two things. Thank you for that.
- 26:39Speaker 1: That the blessing. I'm gonna I'm gonna take that little
- 26:40Speaker 1: clip out and put it on my social and promote you,
- 26:43Speaker 1: my brother. But the other ways you're promoting yourself. You
- 26:46Speaker 1: have the Ash Cash Show or Daily Life financial news
- 26:48Speaker 1: show with streams money through Friday eight am the nine
- 26:51Speaker 1: am Eastern Standard type on your YouTube channel and it
- 26:54Speaker 1: provides what we just hearing, motivation and advice on finance,
- 26:57Speaker 1: entrepreneurship and more. And then I reachingly a here on
- 27:00Speaker 1: the vault with Ash Cast with Outtown and Labels stepped
- 27:04Speaker 1: in and with the crew where he speaks for successful
- 27:08Speaker 1: taste makers and entrepreneurs on their mindset. When you started
- 27:11Speaker 1: tapping into my mindset? What was your work away? Yeah? Man,
- 27:17Speaker 1: so so it was first of all, it was a classic.
- 27:19Speaker 1: It was an honor to even just be in your
- 27:22Speaker 1: presence because you know, as I said on the show,
- 27:24Speaker 1: there was so there was so much I'm always the
- 27:27Speaker 1: behind the scenes guy, like, right, what what's making this?
- 27:30Speaker 1: What's making this tick? Um? But when I started tapping
- 27:33Speaker 1: into your mindset, the one thing that that stood out
- 27:36Speaker 1: to me, um, is that it was your resilience, right,
- 27:39Speaker 1: was your ability to not allow nothing, honestly, right, nothing
- 27:44Speaker 1: to to stop you. That you set a goal, right,
- 27:48Speaker 1: and you see the vision for that goal, and you
- 27:50Speaker 1: go after that goal regardless, right, even when they're obstacles.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Because you've had a lot of obstacles in your life.
- 27:57Speaker 1: There were things that the normal person and I'm using
- 28:00Speaker 1: normal as a you know, just after word, right, the
- 28:03Speaker 1: normal person would have given up, given the obstacles, given
- 28:09Speaker 1: the things that that have happened in your life. Um.
- 28:12Speaker 1: But but but but but your mindset, you know, I
- 28:14Speaker 1: don't even think you understand what given up means, to
- 28:17Speaker 1: be honest, right, because that there were even moments in
- 28:20Speaker 1: our interview that you said something that that the normal
- 28:23Speaker 1: persons would have been more emotionally attached to it, like,
- 28:28Speaker 1: oh this happened, right? But but she was like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: it was just that, you know, and I was like
- 28:33Speaker 1: WHOA like again? So so I think I think I
- 28:35Speaker 1: think that mindset of um, you know, you know, you
- 28:39Speaker 1: know resiliency that I know that the goal is this,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and I know on my way to that goal, they're
- 28:47Speaker 1: gonna be some some obstacles. They're gonna be some roadblocks,
- 28:50Speaker 1: they're gonna be some dechoyes, They're gonna be some things.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But that's not gonna stop me. That's actually right, Like
- 28:55Speaker 1: failure is actually part of success. That's what guys that
- 28:58Speaker 1: that that that the failures, the road blocks, the things
- 29:01Speaker 1: that you might stumble on a part of your role
- 29:04Speaker 1: to successful. Resiliency is that word that I would definitely
- 29:08Speaker 1: attribute to you. Well, thank you all. You know. The
- 29:10Speaker 1: beauty of you is that uh my, my blessing is
- 29:14Speaker 1: that meeting people who um make me better and being
- 29:18Speaker 1: interviewed value, sitting around your crew, I walked away a
- 29:21Speaker 1: better person, a better leader. Uh. Motivation because sometimes you
- 29:25Speaker 1: get trapped into rhythms. And that's why I always tell
- 29:28Speaker 1: people to experience. Why people tell you to go on vacation,
- 29:31Speaker 1: So go to different destinations so you can see things.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And it's uh, either frustrate you, which I love that
- 29:36Speaker 1: because I love two words that you stalked over one
- 29:38Speaker 1: word you say. Frustration that people don't understand the value
- 29:41Speaker 1: of that. Selfishness. On my side, people don't understand the
- 29:44Speaker 1: value that because they take it negative and to too
- 29:46Speaker 1: negative words. Frustration and selfishness were really those are the
- 29:50Speaker 1: keys toss of success because you selfishness is denying yourself
- 29:54Speaker 1: and taking advantage of every every hour in the twenty
- 29:57Speaker 1: four hours. That's selfishness. Say man, look, if I gotta
- 30:00Speaker 1: get it done, I gotta get it done. That's overcoming
- 30:03Speaker 1: the frustration. And most people say I can't get it
- 30:06Speaker 1: done because I don't have enough time. I never understood
- 30:08Speaker 1: what that meant. Not enough time? Are you awake? Do
- 30:11Speaker 1: you have your help? God bless you to get up?
- 30:13Speaker 1: You have enough time? Set some goals and what we
- 30:15Speaker 1: did done. But the one number one thing about it,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and that's why I'm recommending people to, you know, just
- 30:20Speaker 1: see your your show The Strange Money through Friday eight
- 30:23Speaker 1: am to not not Eastern Standard time on your YouTube
- 30:26Speaker 1: town the Ash Cash Show. I'm gonna put that in
- 30:28Speaker 1: my newsletter. In fact, what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna
- 30:31Speaker 1: get with you because I got these little links I'd
- 30:33Speaker 1: like to drop on my social media and send people
- 30:35Speaker 1: can send you questions and let it drop into your
- 30:38Speaker 1: drop box and then you can see it and just
- 30:40Speaker 1: see how you're affecting people asked, because you're an important
- 30:44Speaker 1: individual in our society. You're nonstopping. I complimented about you
- 30:48Speaker 1: and being the biggie smallest of financial motivation was as
- 30:52Speaker 1: as ultimate compliments I can get because you you got
- 30:54Speaker 1: the lyrics, and the lyrics is financial literacy. And if
- 30:58Speaker 1: somebody is speaking it, they say, coming off the dome
- 31:00Speaker 1: as you are in financial lives, to take that crowd, baby,
- 31:04Speaker 1: where to the right, like beg your headed. Absolutely I
- 31:08Speaker 1: appreciate that. It's like, so what's the future for you?
- 31:11Speaker 1: Let's let's wrap it up and let's talk about what's
- 31:12Speaker 1: your what's your future? Next step goes I mean, I
- 31:15Speaker 1: mean the future. The future. The future was uh Emmy
- 31:19Speaker 1: Award talk show. But now the future is he guy right,
- 31:23Speaker 1: if you know, you know here is Amy, Uh you
- 31:27Speaker 1: know Tony the future is the Grammy the Futures of Oscar,
- 31:34Speaker 1: the futures and Tony and and you know courtesy of
- 31:37Speaker 1: ras Sean McDonald. So I received that. Um, but yeah,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know, the future is really for me. Um, just
- 31:44Speaker 1: continuing to do what I do every single day, but
- 31:48Speaker 1: just on the higher level, right, And so that that's
- 31:50Speaker 1: the beauty of you know what I do. I have
- 31:53Speaker 1: eight books that I've read. I'm writing more books. Um,
- 31:56Speaker 1: you know, I have a daily finance show. I have
- 31:58Speaker 1: Inside the Vault ash Cash, which is a podcast. Um.
- 32:02Speaker 1: You know. The goal is that it's just it's just
- 32:04Speaker 1: to continue and reach more people. And so you know,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I'm I might have to reach other hundred thousand or
- 32:09Speaker 1: a million people, but how do I have How do
- 32:11Speaker 1: I get that reach of millions? Yeah, so it's just
- 32:15Speaker 1: to continue to do the same thing I'm doing, but
- 32:17Speaker 1: on a on a larger scale. Well, you know, I
