- 0:04[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't football, we had silence.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't talk about hiring the man first, the coach second.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think he is an unbelievable person.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: Every single person is locker right now.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's my professional football.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_06]: Aaron, get COVID, and the week that I, you started, remember?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, okay, let's do it.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: We came back to Green Bay.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: I made a lot of long-lasting relationships there.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I got nothing below for the city.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_06]: What's up, guys?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_06]: This is Jeff Anis.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_06]: You're listening to four man's Packers podcast.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_05]: Hello and welcome to another edition for this package podcast among Packers Podcasts in the state of our minds.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_05]: I am Spencer joining this week with billion Todd boys.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_05]: Hello.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_05]: Hello.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_05]: Greetings, gentlemen.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_05]: And welcome to the season prediction slash preview episode of the poor man's Packers podcast.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_05]: Probably, I don't know.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_05]: This might be my favorite episode of the year where we get to, you know,
- 1:06[SPEAKER_05]: Make some very, very good predictions.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_05]: We're always very correct on them.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_05]: Just like our training camp one, remember our training camp stars.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_05]: We picked Martian Lloyd, Colin Oliver, and Jordan Morgan.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_05]: So very, very good.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_05]: We will do much better on this one.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, last year I took her craft.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_05]: Remember, I took her craft was going to overtake Luke Musgraven that happened immediately.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_07]: That was me.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_07]: That was definitely me.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_07]: The thing is, though, is we're not just like picking the obvious one.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_07]: That's why they were such bad picks.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_05]: We do try to limit that we can't all pick the same guys so there's some variety about what we're doing.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_07]: Who's the rookie of the year?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_07]: Matthew Golden.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_07]: That's not fun.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_05]: So this week, once again, we will, well, first we're gonna talk about my comparsions.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_05]: There's a couple more things that came up.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_05]: His pressure, number changes, some other things to talk about.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_05]: We will then have our predictions.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_05]: After that, our little preview of the season, where we have our little awards that we always predict and then the season record.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_05]: And, you know, outcome of the season, we will then also preview the Lions game.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, and we're gonna have some spending back again for the first time since
- 2:17[SPEAKER_05]: What?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_05]: The playoffs of last year, so a little Packers trivia as well.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_05]: So I guess we can hop right into it.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_05]: Micaparsons, again, I mean, a couple more things to talk about.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_05]: And I, you know, I said this ahead of time to you guys.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to say it again.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_05]: I have, you know, this is the season preview episode, but there's still a lot of shit to talk about with Micaparsons.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm going to run through it here.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_05]: And if you guys have anything to add or interject, just interrupt me, and we'll keep rolling.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_05]: first thing that popped up what today yesterday.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_05]: His back issue slash will talk about his potential character issues as well here.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_05]: Adam Shefter and all of the other, you know, NFL Insiders all tweeted this out about the same time.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, it came from my capacitance agent David Mulagetta.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_05]: It's something else too that just as Miss Gator brought up this week.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_05]: Have you guys heard this?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_05]: The agent's name is David Mulagetta.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_05]: Demi get a mula get a like he gets money gets the law he gets the mula for the players, which is like I've heard his name for a few years now, and it's like how did we not put that together?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_07]: PFT would say it's like defined as money taker.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but it's almost too obvious to even make a joke about it's like, oh, if it's just been sitting there that whole time.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_05]: Um, so it was reported that he has a L four slash L five.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, not faucet faucet joining.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_05]: It's not faucet fracture.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_05]: F A C E T. I heard people say that's it face it.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_05]: Whatever, join us it.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_05]: joint sprain and he may take an epidural before the game.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_05]: The big thing coming out of this is that it's a sprain and not a disc issue if you guys remember it's a Darius Smith.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_05]: God what five years ago where he was complaining about his back ended that was a disc issue.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_05]: It seemed and that's more of a long term thing.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like this is more just a strain.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_05]: He has a stiff back.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_05]: as they're kind of saying so it shouldn't be that much of an issue he I believe they're gonna say he's like practicing limited this week I would assume but you see the clips from his first practice and it sure looks like his back is fine the couple of Twitter doctors were saying he wouldn't be able to do this if his back was actually fucked up so we should be sitting pretty enough there
- 4:39[SPEAKER_07]: I pulled up a picture of this, this facet joint.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_07]: It looks kind of important, not a lie, but I guess whatever if he's playing, he's playing, right?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_07]: So who cares?
- 4:50[SPEAKER_05]: It seems more so what this is, again, because all the information came out at the same time, is that it's Mulagetta kind of covering for Parsons.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he kind of sat out all of training camp for the Kelboys.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_05]: He sat out that game.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_05]: and all of that and the medical is kind of a question.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like putting this out in the ether makes it seem like, hey, you know, there is an actual issue with this back, but it's not actually bad enough for him to miss any time.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_05]: That's what it seems like is going on here.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, in his introductory press conference, he kind of talked about trying to get up to speed with the playbook and everything.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think we all accept that he's going to be on somewhat of a pitch count.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_03]: And this game has LeFlor, kind of said, what the plan is for him on Sundays.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_03]: He's just going to play in past rushing situations.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: He's just going to play a certain number of snaps or what's the plan.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_05]: At the inter-ductory press conference, I don't think he was asked that before.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_05]: And I believe he'll talk to the media tomorrow and he'll talk to the media a couple, a couple times this week.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry, a couple, a couple, burps just sneaking up there.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_05]: So we'll see.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_05]: I would assume either way, because again, he is kind of like I'd want to look back to see what Khalil Mack did after he was traded the bears back in the day.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_05]: But I would assume either way he's probably going to be on a bit of a pitch count just because it is a new system and everything.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_05]: So I would think like, you know, this will be low snaps for him on the year.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_05]: But I also don't think LaFlor is going to reveal much at oppressor anyways about playing time because he usually tries to stay away from that.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he also wasn't practicing at all in Dallas, right?
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, partly because of the back, partly because of the bad track situation.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: So is he even in game shape for more than fifteen snaps?
- 6:41[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_05]: That's kind of the big thing, too.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_05]: So I would think, again, like you said, mostly past rush situations and whatever else.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_05]: I would be surprised if he gets actual snaps at a fall linebacker, but you never know.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_07]: like I would I would assume they'll have a couple packages for him to come in on and then that's about it for week one yeah god he should not be playing off ball if he if he has like an injury concern and he hasn't played in the offensive all like play past rushing when you haven't played with a team not that big of a deal I feel like as far as like defense goes but it's like playing off ball seems like you kind of got to know what's going on right and plus it's like why waste those snaps for somebody doesn't know the defense
- 7:26[SPEAKER_05]: The other thing to talk about which I don't know how much of a concern it is, but it is something to bring up is possible character concerns about Parsons.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_05]: Again, he knows he has his podcast.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_05]: There was some rumors that some players on the Cowboys didn't really like him.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_05]: From his presser and obviously, you know, I haven't met him yet.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure eventually we will become very good friends.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_05]: We'll have him on the collab.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to be huge.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to really help him out.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_05]: We'll go to his house.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_05]: But it seems like he takes football very seriously in that he's kind of a hard-o at times.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_05]: So I wonder if it's more so guys who, you know, it's more of a check and I'm obviously have a bit of a positive spin here.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_05]: But more of guys who see it as a job and aren't in one hundred percent kind of get mipped by the way he goes about his business and being ultra competitive.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_05]: That's one of the things Rob Demovsky did say today talking to ESPN Milwaukee or Madison one of them.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_05]: He said he talked to a couple guys who quote used to be here, which is also something that Goody mentioned that they talked to some girl.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_05]: Some guys who were familiar with Michael Parsons and those people are probably Mike McCarthy, Joe Jr.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_05]: and Al Harris who are all part of the cowboy staff when they're all together in Michael Parsons was there.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_05]: and what Dmapsky said is all of them basically said the same thing which is this guy wants to win he wants to play football and on Sundays he's unbelievable but sometimes he's going to say things that he probably shouldn't which is also something that Mike has said during his presser as well so I just think he's kind of tightly wound he's a football guy he might be a bit of a knucklehead at times but
- 9:16[SPEAKER_05]: overall don't want to jinx it I think he I don't think he's gonna be like a locker room cancer anything he did also say how it's nice to be in green bay where you can just focus on ball Yeah, I'd be sure to see I mean it does seem a little bit like it could be and not trying to be biased cuz he's in green bay now, but it is like like nobody
- 9:35[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like nobody was like, hey, Michael Jordan's really fun to hang out with, and I'm not saying he's Michael Jordan, but it's like the competitiveness level, like as that competitive, this level reaches like elite.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_07]: people don't like those people as much like if you have an elite level of competitiveness like you're not necessarily like a liked person and you don't care about it and that is kind of what he said in the presser like he doesn't care what it is like he's going to go out and try to win it everything and he doesn't care like I think that that is kind of like that's what I'm equating it to not biased he's Michael Jordan
- 10:13[SPEAKER_05]: It's like how Mike Daniels rub guys the wrong way when he was here too.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_07]: Because he would go hard and practice.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_05]: And like people didn't like that.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: And like Mike Daniels was like my favorite defensive player on those teams.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_07]: But like you need a little bit of attitude.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_07]: And like I do almost feel like like you know the Packers were not an attitude team five years ago.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_07]: But I feel like we're like kind of getting there where they have a little bit more attitude.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_07]: So maybe hopefully it's a better fit on this team.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_05]: You don't want a team of knuckleheads, but you want knuckleheads.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_05]: Like it's we have Parsons, we have Kishan Nixon, we have Nate Hobbs, we have Sean Ryan, you know, couple guys like that.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_05]: I think we have the right next right now.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_07]: They can be knucklehead is probably not the right word.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_07]: They got to be like, you can have heartos on your team, which is like what Mike a Parsons seems to be like a hearto.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_07]: It's not bad to have a couple of them and plus if they're really good.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_07]: Like Michael Daniels wasn't if Mike Daniels was a little bit better.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_07]: He was really good.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_05]: He tweeted something like last week that he was like a ninety eight or ninety nine.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_05]: I think he said like ninety eight and mad, which I'm like, I don't remember that, but he did have a couple of weeks.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_07]: And Madden's always right.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_07]: And never got it wrong.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_07]: But what I'm saying is like if you're like he's in a lead, he's like a game records like
- 11:30[SPEAKER_07]: You cut that position, like Tom Brady, huge hearto.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_07]: Like people like him though, because he's Tom Brady.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_07]: Like if you're kind of like certain people can get away with being heartos, I don't know.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_05]: Brady did say today too that he's good friends with Michael Parsons, which I found interesting, which also makes you think, hey, there's probably less to worry about if Michael Parsons is good or if Tom Brady's good with him.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think maybe one of the other reasons people may not have liked my capacitance a whole lot in Dallas is they say that he has an ego which in my mind everything I've heard out of him doesn't really sound like he's anymore has any more of an ego than the next guy and at the same time you're in the NFL you're gonna have an ego and they we want you to have a little bit of an ego like we want you to think you're better than everybody else
- 12:25[SPEAKER_05]: The next thing that I have to talk about is, you know, we got more of his cap information as contract stuff.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_05]: And just looking at it along with how things are lining up, you know, and again, I'm by, so a packer fan.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_05]: But I think this is an even better move with the timing of this team and the roster construction as it is right now.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_05]: So it's basically his cap hits first the future compensatory draft picks were going to get so Parsons this year he has a cap hit of nine million next year.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_05]: It's nineteen million and then it's twenty seven million and twenty twenty seven so it doesn't go up until twenty twenty eight when it balloons to like twenty four million and I think it's like twenty seven million or something the year after that
- 13:08[SPEAKER_05]: But in twenty twenty eight, they could cut him with a dead cap hit of seventeen million with which all things considered isn't all that bad, but either way it allows a lot of cap flexibility for this window here for the next three years and then after that, it's like, maybe there's some type of
- 13:28[SPEAKER_05]: many rebuild or maybe the TV money comes in and the cap doesn't matter as much as we would think right now.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_05]: But either way, there's probably going to be some type of, you know, like this next off season we're going to have to lose some free agents just because of how big this contract is.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_05]: But the way it times, when's the next TV deal?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_05]: I believe it's happening in the next year or two.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_07]: And then it's usually attention.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_07]: It's a good time.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_07]: It's a good time to buy a superstar, I guess.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, free TV deal.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, even without the TV deal, like I saw something, I think it was like in the last five years, the salary cap is gone up by a hundred million dollars or something.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's like,
- 14:14[SPEAKER_03]: what you know we're we're looking at the dead cap or that the cap hit more likely of the students contract you know three four years out but we're looking at it through the lens of today's salary cap and it's like that's how the cap is going to go up by
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: forty to sixty million by then, like it's going to be a completely different situation.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, we're going to have to re-sign other guys and they're going to be getting, you know, potentially big deals as well.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm not as concerned about salary cap hits three, four years out.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_05]: So the way that looking at this roster again is just, okay, so what's going, what's this, how's this team going to look like a couple years from now?
- 14:59[SPEAKER_05]: And this is a big year of unrestricted free agents after the season's over, because we know these last couple drafts have a pretty good.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_05]: And I think it's what makes it different than the window that we had in the early, twenty-twenties where we did have a older roster with some older stars, you know, like Devante Adams, David Bhaktari, obviously Aaron Rogers, you know, Preston Smith and Zedarius Smith, both being on second year contracts.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_05]: So for instance, this off season, we have Rashid Walker, Sean Ryan, Romeo Dobbs,
- 15:33[SPEAKER_05]: Christian Watson, whatever happens with him, Quay Walker and Malik Willis.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_05]: And he look at those guys and Rashid Walker being a starting tackle is probably going to get like twenty million dollars a year.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_05]: Sean Ryan, I would say maybe something like eight million, you know, John running got a three year deal with a ten million dollar year average.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_05]: Romeo Dobbs, I mean, you could expect at least ten million when guys like Darious Slayton and Diami Brown, each got ten million this off season.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_05]: Christian Watson, I don't know, maybe we bring him back.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_05]: No idea, no idea what he could potentially make next off season.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_05]: Play Walker, he's another guy, ten to fifteen million, and then Malik Willis at, you know, worse, a backup quarterback, eight to ten million, and it could be even higher than that if he has to step in this year.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_05]: If you look at the comp picks from this previous season, a twenty million per year average contract got you a third or fourth Rome pick, fifteen million got you a fourth, ten million got you a fifth.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_05]: So next off season and when you get these comp picks, you know, it'll be the twenty twenty six off season and the picks you'll get are for twenty twenty seven.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_05]: We're probably going to get six draft picks between a third, between the third and seventh round, just for free as long as we don't go out into free agency and sign guys, which would take away your sign knees.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_05]: So it's one of those again where it matches up pretty well when we're getting out of the salary cap hell with Michael Parsons and maybe we trade future picks like this next draft just because in twenty twenty seven we're going to have so many of them.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_05]: It just lines up nicely for having a rebuild and having a bunch of young talent ready to go after, you know, whatever we're doing with Mike is contractually turns thirty.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think we might have the same point, but out of those guys you listed, none of them to me are must-re signs.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying we're not gonna bring zero of them back, but I think for the right price, I wouldn't mind having any one of those guys back, but if they price themselves out, I think we probably move on for most of them.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_07]: I was gonna say, maybe you keep two of those.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and again, they wouldn't count against your cops in Tori, for me, or whatever, that the league does.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_05]: You're like, Christian Watson's probably the guy I feel the best about coming back, just because I don't know what he's gonna be like coming back from that injury and everything else.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_05]: So, I don't just, very curious, and I'm like, I wonder if this was kind of part of the plan when they started really getting serious about trading for Micah Parsons as well.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_05]: Something else to talk about that came out of the pressure.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_05]: is the number changes for some Green Bay Packers or new numbers we should say.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_05]: One, Michael Parsons picked number one.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_05]: Very interesting.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_05]: Matthew Golden switched from twenty to zero.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_05]: And if you remember,
- 18:31[SPEAKER_05]: after he got drafted he initially picked number eighty one so he's gone from eighty one to twenty two to zero so and personally I don't know what you guys think I wish they were flipped I would rather have the big number on Parsons and have him be zero and have one be on Matthew gold like that's more slim fast number
- 18:54[SPEAKER_05]: You guys are great here.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_07]: I guess that's fair from like that perspective.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_07]: When you originally set it via text, I was like, I don't, it doesn't, I literally couldn't care last.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_07]: But when you talk about the shape of the number, I'm with you.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_07]: Good.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_03]: I, I just think it's interesting.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, nobody in Packers history has ever suited up in a regular season game wearing numbers zero and nobody has suited up in a regular season game wearing number one since curly Lambo in like nineteen twenty nine years ago.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's what's kind of strange too.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_05]: Um, I just saw this online.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't do more digging on it.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_05]: But curly might not have even worn number one, like a lot of pictures have been wearing like number twenty and some different ones.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, but that's my source on numbers.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_03]: My source on that is pro football reference for what it's worth.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_05]: Well, like Cliff Crystal, in the reason why it's been allowed now is because the Packer's historian, which it's like this seems like some bullshit.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_05]: Cliff Crystal, well, the Packer's reached out to hand the Packer's historian, and apparently Ed policy did in those guys.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_05]: And they asked if it was okay to give out that number now.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_05]: And Cliff Crystal said that it was never an officially retired.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_05]: So we have the officially retired numbers.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_05]: There was always this rumor about number one and number five.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_05]: being unofficially retired now maybe Paul Hornings is like like the the whatever rules and baseball the unsung rules and baseball or whatever it's like that's kind of what Paul Hornings number five being retired is which they should have just retired it he's dead now so I don't know if they'll actually do that and obviously Lambo field I mean he's kind of already got a name there for curly
- 20:33[SPEAKER_05]: But Cliff Crystal said that it was never unofficially retired.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_05]: So they're like, okay, fine.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_05]: And then they gave it up for the first time in ninety nine years.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like, well, I guess he probably could have done this sooner.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_05]: So obviously pretty interesting.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_05]: Emmanuel Wilson also changed his number from thirty one to twenty three.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_05]: The press guys asked him why he did it.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't have a reason.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_05]: He said he just wanted to change his number, which is funny.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_05]: Um, can you, can you guys name any other previous Packers pack around me back?
- 21:03[SPEAKER_05]: There were number twenty three.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_05]: I can only think of two.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Jonathan Franklin.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, damn.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_07]: That's a good one.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_07]: No idea.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I like Jonathan.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_07]: There's right one though.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_05]: He was one other one.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_07]: I can remember.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_05]: Oh god Jonathan Franklin some guys like Matt Miller.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_05]: I think had Eddie Lacey and Jonathan Franklin as like his top two backs and we got both of them in that draft the other one I had was the bed post bandit Noah Heron who beat the shit out of there.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, and I will be tree nance.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_05]: I was going to say I thought to me tree nance dead.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_05]: Did Brandon was a Brandon scene was he number twenty three
- 21:45[SPEAKER_05]: He wasn't very, there was he, thirty three.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, it could be that, too.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I will, I'll pull up a, probably a ball reference.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_03]: I will let you know shortly.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_05]: And then the other number change was Israel and Bana Kanda on the practice squad went to twenty eight after being twenty three.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_05]: So he got cut.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we'll Wilson stole his number.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_05]: He gets signed of the practice squad and they're like, oh, yeah, you got to pick a different number now.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_05]: So he's twenty.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_05]: I think twenty eight is a better running back number anyways.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, Harry Matos back in nineteen thirty six or twenty three.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_07]: So to collide good night.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_07]: Don't know the year on that.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's a phenomenal name.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't even say what position he is, but Jonathan Franklin to meetry nance and Noah Aaron.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_03]: There we go.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: We're the running backs at least from any of our lifetimes.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: Kapoozy.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_07]: Jim Kapoozy.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_05]: The only other green are these are these all number twenty three.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_03]: Rose of Travis Williams Rose of El Blackman that is a good strong name Matthew Dorset.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_05]: That's a good name that is a good football name that is a nineteen ninety five football name.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_05]: That is Maurice Harvey.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_05]: It sounds like a guy's got a real big forehead.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_05]: But not like Dayton Jones.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_05]: The blue go well for head.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_07]: Poor Dayton had.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_07]: He has like a thing on the front of his head.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_05]: He had, yeah, he had.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know what you would call it.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_05]: He had a guardian helmet.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_05]: He had a guardian cap before.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_07]: He has a guardian head.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_05]: The last thing I just had to finish up the Michael Parsons talk is the NFC North Cope.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_05]: It's very funny seeing and we live in Minnesota.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_05]: So it's funny to see some of the
- 23:41[SPEAKER_05]: Complaints or like I saw that one fucking that Thor guy was a big Viking fan on Twitter saying it might be the only one who thinks this isn't that big of a win for the Packers It's like two first round picks and that contract and it's like You want to pay these good players and it really seems like out of the thirty two teams in the NFL
- 23:59[SPEAKER_05]: twenty nine of them think that the packers absolutely wash the cowboys in this trade including cowboy fans, but it's the lion bear and Viking fans who think like, you know, we gave up too much or this contract.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be detrimental to the team.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, let's be honest, we all we all probably thought that the bears paid too much for Kaleel Mac back in the day.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_05]: I hate I don't remember I more so beat I remember being afraid especially when that Monday night game kicked off or Sunday I do remember being like It might have been worth it.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_07]: I remember being like that's a lot, but I would really like to have about my team like
- 24:39[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and well, well, I would have won three Super Bowls with them.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_05]: I do have this listed here too, and we talked about a little bit earlier this off season.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_05]: I think this is really good stat to show how much Parsons is going to help.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_05]: So we talked about Rashan Gary earlier this off season, how he was like on the top, one hundred, whatever that's stupid NFL, this that they put out the best players in the NFL.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_05]: And how is stupid his it's so it's so dumb the third layer's voted Nobody really knows for sure the third down pressure rates for Rashan Gary this past season on third down he had he created pressure twenty two percent of the time on first and second down it was set it was seven point three which is pretty bad.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_05]: I think twenty two percent was like tops and NFL are up there
- 25:26[SPEAKER_05]: Since entering the league, Michael Parsons has the highest pressure rate on first and second down in the NFL at fifteen point three percent.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_05]: The next closest over that amount of time is Tray Hendrickson, who had eleven point five.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, wow, four percentage points different.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_05]: And you look at that, you know, you got, you got Mike on first and second, got Rashad Garry on third down.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_05]: That's a pretty good combo right there.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_07]: It still does it, does it feel real to anybody else?
- 25:57[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, I watched the videos of Mike and practice, but like, until he's rushing the passer, like in the game, it's not going to feel real to me.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_05]: I agree, a hundred percent.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_07]: It won't feel like until he's actually on the field.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_07]: Right, until like we see him out there, it's so weird in my head, I'm like, I'm like, I'm not even that excited.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_07]: As weird as that sounds, because I'm like, yep, it's not real, because my head is still convinced that this is a fever dream.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_07]: Yep.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_03]: I also don't know if I necessarily appreciate how good of a player he is because I have never watched Dallas all that much, unless they play Green Bay.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_03]: And it seems like, you know, and maybe I'm wrong, but just thinking about our last couple of games against Dallas, I don't remember him killing us that much.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I feel like we did a pretty good job on him.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_05]: But one thing I just talked about it is press or two is how good of a one of the reasons he liked green being coming here is because you know, it's how smart Matt LaFlor is and how they were able to neutralize when Matt even said he was like, are running back did a really good job neutralizing him in the playoff and didn't say Aaron Jones for whatever reason, but we've seen that before where he like I think one of the big plays don't just came up and took him out.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, you look at the stats and it's twelve, twelve sacks a year minimum.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, when's the last time we had a dude get double digit sacks was it's the Darious?
- 27:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I was.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_07]: There was the last.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_07]: There's only, there's only two players I believe.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_07]: I hope I'm not screw this up.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_07]: players in their first four years get at least eleven or twelve sacks it's regi white and micaparsons and that's it that's the list it's a little good job obviously not to pick obviously they pick eleven sacks as like a key number like when they go cherry pick and you're like eleven that's a weird number but
- 27:45[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, it's just fun.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_07]: But that's, I mean, it's impressive.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_05]: That was the other thing you sell like other fans.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if it was like coping cowboy fans, but they're like, you trade all of that for a guy who gets twelve sacks a year.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, yeah, I mean, that's, that's pretty, it's pretty good, especially when you've done that every single year you've been in the NFL.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_05]: Like, that's exactly what you're looking for.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: I also have one Cowboys fan on Reddit that was like okay Packers fans enjoy enjoy Micah Parsons when he has those games where he just doesn't have any sacks.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's like yes, how dare a password should not get seventeen sacks minimum.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_05]: The Kenny Clark thing too.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_05]: I think it was nice because obviously it was kind of a bummer to lose Kenny Clark the guy maybe more so than the player.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I still think our defensive line has a bit of a hole now, but he said when Jerry Jones called him, he said, this deal wouldn't have happened if you weren't involved, which I think everyone's elated hearing that.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_05]: But the other cop thing to is so many, it's the Viking fans.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_05]: We're like, I'm glad we don't have to face Kenny Clark anymore.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, well, Garrett Bradbury's also gone, which was a big reason for that.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_05]: But the coping for like, oh, the third year old defensive lineman who didn't play very well last year is gone.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_05]: But now you're going up against Michael Parsons.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_05]: And yes, you guys have two very good tackles.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_05]: Like, that's more worrisome than Kenny Clark.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_05]: Like, what are we doing?
- 29:11[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I think being like, oh my gosh, thank god we don't have to play Kenny, but it's like you have a complete game record on the edge Yeah, I mean, it just doesn't I mean, like I did hear from people too that like, oh, it's like Kenny was always played well against us, which maybe is true.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_07]: I guess I don't really remember He did, but in general, I mean, Kenny had a pretty down year last year and I want to say that year before wasn't amazing either
- 29:37[SPEAKER_07]: Um, I think it's pretty good that you're before.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_07]: Was he okay?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_07]: Anyways, it's just last year he was hurt as a little bit of off year like to to move on from a guy who had a down year last year to get Mike a Parsons and you try to spin his own it such that it's like, oh, thank God.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, that's just like a wild spin zone.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_07]: Like, you can make fun of the contract.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_07]: You can make fun of giving and giving up the picks.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_07]: But like to be like, oh, I'd rather play against Micah is do a lot of stake.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_07]: Like, that's a hottest take in the world.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: Unless they're, unless they're framing it as, well, if the Packers are going to get Micah Parsons, at least they lost Kenny Clark in the deal.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there's just the Packers.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_05]: Again, the Packers had to like, Goody had to probably
- 30:21[SPEAKER_07]: like save face while he was answering Jerry Jones was like oh can he's the guy oh no not Kenny no anyway it's like we probably wanted to get rid of that contract anyways I would say that contract was like didn't did you say something about the net contract last time like if we because we got rid of Kenny's contract and got this one like what is the net change didn't you say something about that I don't think I did I think somebody said something about what it was and it was not a lot of money
- 30:52[SPEAKER_05]: And again, it's like we're trading for the most versatile defensive player in the NFL.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_05]: Who else is as versatile as Michael Parsons?
- 31:00[SPEAKER_05]: And again, it's like, oh, no, you guys have two really good tackles.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_05]: I guess we'll move him inside.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_05]: You know, like, when is it really that big of a win?
- 31:08[SPEAKER_07]: Who also had a better run degrade than Kenny to last year?
- 31:12[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, again, we down near last year.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_07]: We did talk about that last year.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_05]: Um, with that, uh, commercial break.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_05]: Alright, we are back and prepare yourselves for the season.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_05]: Preview awards, predictions, whatever you want to call them.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_05]: Again, we have, fuck, I don't know, eight of these things.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_05]: This is going to be a long episode.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_05]: Again, this is, this is worth the money, the price of admission for hitting play on this podcast.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_05]: Um,
- 31:42[SPEAKER_05]: So we have a few of these words here.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_05]: We'll just rip through them.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_05]: Should I read mine first when we go through this?
- 31:48[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I'll try to say something else.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_05]: If you guys have like your actual answer, but then you have a backup, you know, do that.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_05]: We don't want to be a little redundant here.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_06]: No, you go first.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we'll just pick whatever else.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, well, yeah, we'll figure it out.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, how about this?
- 32:00[SPEAKER_05]: Todd, you can go first.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_05]: Who is your surprise slash unsung hero of the year?
- 32:07[SPEAKER_07]: I did actually have two for this one, but since I get to go first, I get to pick my first one.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_07]: I'm gonna say brand-newic manus.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like the kicker doesn't get the love, and that's the only reason why I'm picking him.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_07]: I won't tell you who my other one is unless we get to the end and nobody picked him, but I'm gonna say McManus just because like, I feel like he's sneaky really good.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe that's not sneaky.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe I'm like he was reading literally like, sixty-five.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I'm sixty-eight and try to camp on field list.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_05]: He's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been the most, he's been
- 32:42[SPEAKER_07]: Dantavian Wix.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_07]: He figures it out.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_07]: I'm year.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_07]: What is it?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_07]: Three or four?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_07]: Three.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_07]: Three.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_07]: He figures it out near three.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_07]: He figures out how to catch the ball.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_07]: Cool.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_07]: That's all he needs to do.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_07]: That's it.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_05]: I like it.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to go next.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_05]: No, I'm going to leave Prague Billy because I don't want him to steal mine and he might be stealing mine because I know it well.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_05]: Like, LVNs on my list, but I'm not going to pick him up.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_05]: I think I mentioned it last week where I think he's probably the most underrated player on this team, but I have Carrington Valentine, especially here at the beginning of the season with Nate Hobbs.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_05]: Potentially missing this first game, I feel like he's going to get the questionable tag.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_05]: Um, but Kerington Valentine, I wouldn't be surprised if he is the most talented player on the defense.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_05]: I think he has the length to be an outside corner marks with the other guys.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_05]: He's always he hasn't really let us down in past coverage.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously in the playoffs, he can tackle who Dallas got her absolutely bounced his head on the turf at, uh, Lincoln Financial Field, I believe is where the Eagles play.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_05]: But I think by the end of the season, he's going to be viewed as CB one for this team.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_05]: That's it.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_05]: I just think he's always been a little overlooked on this roster.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not quite sure why, and I think this year he's going to show why he's CB one.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_07]: I think that would be a pleasant surprise if he turns out to be CB one.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_07]: That would be great.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: Could be a surprise of the year.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: Some people are saying.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: My unsung hero is Evan Williams.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think he was on the... I think I picked him last year, yeah.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: The profile writers, all rookie team, it just seemed like the defense took a little bit of a step back when he was out with injury last year.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like he's he's solid in study on the back end.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_05]: It's funny because during the off season at the beginning of it, LaFlor, they were asked, I forgot what the question was, but he kind of got on Evan Williams having to put on more weight so that he isn't as injury prone, and then like recently, will the asked LaFlor, again, that question, but for Martian Lloyd, and he gave a different answer, like well, sometimes he have bad luck, and it's like, well, which one
- 35:01[SPEAKER_05]: is it?
- 35:01[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I really like him.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_05]: He was like kind of quiet this training camp too.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_05]: I think this time last year there was a lot more hype like we heard a lot more about him than we did Javan Bullard for the most part.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_05]: So I think he is kind of flying in under the radar for this season too.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_05]: Next one, you know, when I got to go a little negative, let down of the year, Todd, well, you know, fuck ability you go first.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_03]: Mine, I'm going to go with Nate Hobbes.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_03]: We gave him a four year, forty eight million dollar contract.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_03]: I worry about number one has injury here to start off being banged off.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_03]: Like, is he going to get to a hundred percent or is it going to be something that he kind of plays through all year?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm also a little bit concerned that he played in the slot in Vegas and we're going to try him on the outside and I also kind of question giving a dude with three career intersections this big contract.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I struggle to see him living up to it and I therefore think he's going to be a let down.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_05]: Todd, do you want to go?
- 36:13[SPEAKER_07]: Ah, yeah.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_07]: Well, that sounds are never fun.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_07]: I have Micah Parsons' health as a layout out of the year.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_07]: Is that gross?
- 36:22[SPEAKER_07]: Why would you do that?
- 36:23[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_07]: Is that broken back already?
- 36:25[SPEAKER_05]: No, we'd start playing.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about it.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_05]: It's a sprain.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_05]: His bones are fine.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_05]: The muscles are just a little tight around his back.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_07]: Feels like a broken back.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_07]: What they said was a bone.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_07]: So I don't know how you sprain a bone.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_05]: Nope.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_05]: Nope.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_07]: Well, propaganda.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_07]: I hope I'm wrong, but let's tell him the year is my comparison.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe he misses three games.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_07]: It could still be that could be sad if the rest of the season's great.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_03]: He's been pretty durable for the for the majority of his career.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_05]: Last year was his worst year for health.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's only miss like three games in the four years he's been in the league.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_05]: It's something like that.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, well, that was my pick so I like how like the way you were looking at us there.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_05]: It's like your mad we were getting on you.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_05]: It's like no, we're saying he's not that injury prone in a near almost like well, I want him to be out.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_07]: Just saying his back is broken.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_07]: What do we we don't know would be just about it seems like too good to be true like that is like where my heads at it's like it's not real
- 37:25[SPEAKER_07]: It's it's Aaron Jones getting hurt.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_07]: Oh Aaron Jones is gonna be.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_07]: Oh Aaron Jones is hurting.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_07]: It's like, oh we got this.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_07]: Oh Jordan love broke his hand.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, you know what I mean?
- 37:33[SPEAKER_07]: It's like every time something good is gonna happen every time we get something nice it breaks.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_07]: All right.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_05]: Always optimistic Todd my let down of the year Billy I also had Nate Hobbes listed to that was good one and kind of the same realm I have Aaron Banks being a let down of the year just a guy who when we signed him to there was question marks we give a big money contract is one of the you know top ten paid guards and the league now he's always been
- 37:59[SPEAKER_05]: average.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_05]: Again, he's a big fat fuck which we're looking for on this offensive line to get a little bit more physical in all of that.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_05]: He's been banged up with that back which he did declare this week that the back is fine.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_05]: Again, the soft bed and Indianapolis is what gave him the trouble is what he was saying.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_05]: But either way, it's like we paid big money.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_05]: Not, not at monards, but he might be the weak link on this offensive line, and he's one of the highest paid guys on it, you know, because what he's a second highest paid guy now, I believe, behind Zach Tom, you know, it's a Camin Shawn Ryan, I think we're the two guys who would debate, but it's not like Niners fans were upset that they lost this guard, you know, so
- 38:41[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe he's still good.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_05]: And again, James Kampen is on the front office staff.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_05]: So he helped scalp this guy.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_05]: We've always had really good luck coaching these guys up.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully I'm wrong, but again, I mean, I'm just such an optimist.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_05]: It's I had to pick someone and that's who I'm going with.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_03]: the one incorrect thing you said in there is of course we didn't pay big money at minards it's because we would say say money at minards right now not fair and get the you can do like how you were like you did like uh... the interview question what my my weakness is actually my strength
- 39:18[SPEAKER_05]: Moving on this next one we have the Matthew Golden Rookie of the Year Matthew Golden is going to be the rookie of the year for this Packers team especially with the way this year's draft kind of shook out I believe I mean everyone will probably say that so Todd you go first to either talk about Matthew Golden being the rookie of the year or you can pick someone else
- 39:38[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to say Warren Brinson just because I feel like he has the largest opportunity as of like the way it sits right now to make an impact.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I like Colin Oliver a lot as far as the other rookies go.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_07]: But it doesn't feel like he's going to get the opportunity that Brinson's going to get just with where we sit right now.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_07]: So I just think I think Warren Brinson is just like the most likely guy.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_07]: of this rookie class that aside from golden doesn't have a lot of impact guys in your one.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_05]: It's funny how you bring up Colin Oliver because, you know, we brought him up a few times this off season and we're like, oh, you know, we got to have a good rotation of past treasures and it's like, oh, man, if he could just get healthy, then we'd have a really good rotation and then also it's like enter my capacitance and it's like, okay, it's just now it doesn't matter if a fuck about Colin Oliver.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_07]: You know, literally like that's literally it's like, hey, sit on the bench and develop.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_07]: That's what's going to happen.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yep.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_05]: Billy, who is your Matthew golden rookie of the year?
- 40:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to go with Baron Sorrell as my rookie of the year.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: I obviously, you know, the top two Parsons and Gary that's set and stone, you know, set it and forget it, whatever.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I think there's a path to playing time with him.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_03]: down the stretch of the season, you know, in December and hopefully January when guys are banged up and, you know, I haven't really been a huge Kingsley and I bar a fan.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, everybody knows how I feel about LVN.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I think he could have a rotational role on that defensive line.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_05]: Something else to mention that I probably would have gotten into for the Lions preview, but he did practice on Monday as well.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he was one of those guys we thought might get put on the short-term IR, all these already practicing, so that spells well for him.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if he might be an active guy, but he also played a lot on special team, so we'll see.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_05]: But him and Zene Anderson also were practicing on Monday, so that's good news.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_03]: I saw a stop.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was this week, not that it had anything to do with me picking him to be rookie the year, but it was something along the lines of Baron Sorrell led all rookie pass rushers in quarterback hurries in the preseason and he did it in one game and it's like
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: How many rookie past rusher's played in the preseason?
- 42:09[SPEAKER_03]: How many snaps did they play like?
- 42:11[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, seriously.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, I mean they're head open at Tony actually did that I speak of numbers because I mean how many did he have like four?
- 42:20[SPEAKER_05]: something like, it was four or five, I believe.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_05]: Stick, we were talking about numbers earlier.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_05]: The best number like new number on this team is Barren Strarel at getting number ninety-nine.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_05]: Like of Parsons.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_05]: That has taken.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_05]: Parsons came to this team and took number ninety-nine.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_05]: That would have been very cool as well.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_07]: But also like is it a baron at I don't know like ninety nine at like a dn that's a little bit under side seems off that's fair.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_03]: That's a very nice scene like a weird like that's like not my top pick for number ninety nine if you're gonna give it to somebody at defense events should be ninety to ninety four defensive tackles ninety five in above
- 43:00[SPEAKER_07]: And for the the most nine like give Warren Brinson ninety nine is like what is he like three twenty five or something like that is a Brinson like a big boy.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's huge stack.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to say LVN would be good at ninety nine if you know that causes three twenty seven according to ESPN
- 43:19[SPEAKER_07]: Oh yeah, Warren Brinson's three fifteen.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_07]: But Baron's Rails like two fifty, which is like ninety nine on a two fifty seems odd.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_05]: My, uh, mathy golden rookie of the year besides mathy golden who's going to, I mean, God, he's going to be like the best rookie.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_05]: I'm,
- 43:35[SPEAKER_05]: He, I usually stay away from Patrick.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_05]: I just talk about him.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_05]: I usually, okay, well, my mind is fucking nesir stack house again.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's going to have a easy path to snaps.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I wouldn't be surprised if he's active week one and it's again where we're in run heavy games against, you know, run heavy offense that he's active just because he's a big boy.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_05]: Um, and again, it's just path of least resistance for him.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, I mean, Matthew Golden, I expect him.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_05]: I never draft Packers in fantasy football shit.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_05]: I am taking him.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_05]: I'm surprised he's going in like the seventh eighth ninth round or was in drafts just because once again, it's just last year.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, what what has changed from a year ago, where it was January, the Dantevin wicks, Romeo dobs,
- 44:21[SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, this guy clearly is the, like, he's going to get the most nasty stuff.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_05]: He is the guy.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't rob Demovsky again.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_05]: I think he, he literally dropped one pass in all of training camp.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_05]: And Rob Demovsky said he didn't drop any.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_05]: So maybe he forgot the one that a bunch of other people reported on.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_07]: But it's like, it's literally the missing guy forget the one because I saw the video.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_07]: I've been dropping a ball.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like, it's Matthew Golden.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's Tucker craft.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_05]: It's Josh Jacobs.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_05]: Like that's how I'm viewing this off and it's going into the season.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_07]: Does he break the rookie reception record?
- 44:55[SPEAKER_07]: Which is held by Brock Bowers?
- 44:57[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, well, hundred and twelve.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you're representing the NFL.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to say no.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_05]: He's not going to do that.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_05]: The very historic record set last year.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_07]: And he could, honestly, like, who else, if, if the receivers, but like they did last year and drop every fourth pass, then yeah, he might, I guess, level just throw to him over and over and over again.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I wanted to, I, I was kind of thinking along the same lines as Utah, just from the team rookie record standpoints, like, so Billy Houtton's rookie receiving yards record is like, twelve hundred back in nineteen fifty two.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_03]: If he breaks that, like Matthew Golden is a star.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_07]: But do you think way, how many receptions do you know how many receptions is the Packers rookie reception record?
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's sixty-four by Jayden Reed.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_03]: It is, yes.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like if he if he breaks Jaden reads record for receptions and has a thousand yards like he is a thousand yards a lot.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's a fantastic season for rookie.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_05]: It took Devante Adams what four or five years before he broke a thousand yards I think.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_05]: Now granted there was competition in front of Devante.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_03]: And Devante also had the first three.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_03]: Didn't get like two years at like nine ninety seven or something one for sure one for sure it was nine ninety seven.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_05]: We're worried with it.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so putting a button on that.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_05]: Nizier Stackhouse once again, the math you golden rookie there.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_05]: Next one the defensive player of the year.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there's really.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, this might be the Michael Parsons defensive player of the year potentially, but
- 46:41[SPEAKER_07]: Todd you can go first who is your defensive player of the I will not be picking make a person's I'm gonna not that he won't be the rookie of the year, but I did say practices health fifth year.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_07]: I did say his health so I can't contradict myself and say he's a let down with health and yeah, I don't know why but linger on that yeah
- 46:59[SPEAKER_07]: I'm gonna say entering Cooper just because like that he is such a dog like that guy.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_07]: He's gonna be all pro this year like has to be he's so good especially with like you put a past rush around him Man, that dude's gonna be awesome.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_07]: So that's my guy.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like he can rush he is like the off-ball line-backer version of my capacitance in my opinion just like
- 47:22[SPEAKER_07]: super athletic, like honestly pretty instinctual, and like you can rush him, you can drop him into coverage, he can do anything.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_07]: So he's super versatile.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, that's honestly that aside from like, Micah Parsons isn't still real in my head.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_07]: He's the person I'm most excited for watching this year.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 47:43[SPEAKER_07]: Like, yeah, because Micah Parsons isn't real still.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_07]: Cooper is like the guy.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_05]: It's almost sad that persons comes in because we were like, ooh, Adrian Cooper.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_05]: This is going to be his year to come.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_07]: I'm still, I'm still elated about Cooper.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_07]: Like, having an off-ball line back here, that's good is like one of the most fun things to watch.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_07]: You didn't enjoy watching Blake Martinez make a hundred and fifteen tackles eight yards past the line of skirmish and honestly like at the time Blake Martinez wasn't horrible especially for a fifth round pick whatever he was who is pretty good I was even say like the off-ball linebacker play is rough in the NFL like the past ten years it's rough there's only a couple guys that are actually like fun to watch and like coopers at the top and list
- 48:29[SPEAKER_05]: With that, I'm gonna go first so Billy is screwed.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_05]: Second, I am going, oh, whatever, I'm first before you.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_05]: I am going with Xavier McKinney to be the Packers Defensive Player of the Year.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I mean, you know, our corners aren't great.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_05]: I think our safety's are pretty good.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I think, I still think our corners are average.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_05]: And then our safety's, I'd give them like a B+.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_05]: Our corners are average.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_05]: You think they're well below average or what?
- 48:58[SPEAKER_05]: What's the baseline?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_05]: I still think their Nixon was fine last year Oakland our quarters are way below Raider fans were upset that Hobbs left and I think Carrington Valentine is a good is a good corner and then you still have I think it's by the last corner room in the league.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_05]: Okay
- 49:14[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_05]: How could we played the game?
- 49:19[SPEAKER_05]: We had a top five, top ten defense last year without Jail Alexander.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_05]: And now we added Nate Hobbs.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_05]: Jail played like fucking five games last year.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_05]: Like there is not much changed.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_05]: You know, like we still, we held the Super Bowl champs to what in the playoffs.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_05]: Like twenty three points or something.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_05]: I just get rid of your facts.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not super hot on Jalen though.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_07]: He's not like pick you apart on the back end fair, but either right.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_05]: Xavier McKinney again, another added bonus of Mike Parsons in the past rush is quarterbacks are gonna have to get rid of the ball sooner.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if you remember this, but Mike, but X had like what?
- 50:02[SPEAKER_05]: A pick in the first five, six games just start the season last year.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_05]: Like it was absolutely ridiculous.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's going to get a shit ton of picks.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_05]: Again, he's talked about the gold jacket stuff.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_05]: He's still like, I picked a captain for the defense now with Kenny Clark being gone.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_05]: I'm given X that C. You know, he seems to be the pros pro.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_05]: He's a guy's guy.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_05]: He's a football guy.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_05]: I have X getting a shit ton of picks and he's my defensive player of the year for the packers.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_03]: My defensive player the year is Edger and Cooper for all the reasons that Todd already discussed.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_03]: But perhaps where I'm most excited about with him is he's had a full off season in training camp to prepare.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like last year he missed a bunch of time because of injuries early on and it just kind of felt like he was playing catch up and once he finally did get his feet under him, then we saw what he could do.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: Second year in the Jeff Hathley system, a new running mate in front of him and Micah Parsons, like I think Cooper's gonna fly around and make a ton of plays this year.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_05]: Moving on, the offensive player of the year, who wants to go first, whoever starts talking.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Jacobs is my offensive player of the year.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_03]: He just gave that offense kind of a different feel.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_03]: The things that he can do running the ball, and I still love Aaron Jones, but
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, playing all Seventeen games last year, putting up a whole bunch of yards, touchdowns, he got involved in the passing game.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's really going to be critical in how well Jordan loved plays this year.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_03]: If he has another year, like he did last year, then I have more confidence in Jordan love having a good year.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_07]: I really thought that I was onto something.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_07]: I googled worst quarterback rooms in the NFL.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_07]: And it said the bears number one and two the packers.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_07]: This is all time.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_07]: So they compiled the stats from entire history of the NFL.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_07]: And the bears are the worst.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_07]: We are a second worst all time.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_07]: So AI always helping out.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_07]: Apologies for going backwards there.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_07]: offensive player of the year I had Josh Jacobs as you had in my secondary in case nobody picked him was going to be uh... don't even works but I already picked him for owns on hero long so I guess I'm gonna go I'm gonna go with when he gets healthy
- 52:45[SPEAKER_07]: uh... marshanoid because like what we saw from the little bit of him and it's not really like office player the year because like you could picture and love obviously it's going to move through him golden to but it's more like for me i'm picking somebody that's like exciting and i think that like it's kind of like the x factor you know the the earth wind and fire he's like the what would you be like the wind maybe like jashie is the earth
- 53:09[SPEAKER_07]: Chris Brooks is the fire maybe I don't know this is really making sense I'm gonna pick just because I think like the the upside to Martian Lloyd is like so fun like he looks like he's gonna be he's he's like Reggie Bush like to meet in my head
- 53:25[SPEAKER_07]: he's like Reggie Bush coming out of the backfield like catching balls swing passes and stuff like that.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_07]: So I was just a Martian Lloyd just fun.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I like that answer because it adds variety, but you also made your own category for an X factor.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_05]: So I like it.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_05]: I like that pick.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I expect it like it.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_05]: My offensive player and again, I mean, there's you could, you know, I have like Matthew Golden listed to obviously Jordan Levy could throw in there if you really think he's going to be, you know, popping off again.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_05]: But I have Tucker craft.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_05]: He's kind of an X factor.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_05]: I think that has an easier path for that again.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_05]: The only thing that I think could really slow him down is maybe losing snaps to Luke Musgrave, but I don't think he's going to actually lose snaps to him.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_05]: They'll probably both be on the feel at the same time if anything.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_05]: But again, like you were talking about Todd, how there's only so many good off-ball linebackers in the league.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_05]: There's only so many good, you know, tight ends that make a difference in this league.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_05]: He led the league last year and like yards after contact or yards after catch.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_05]: I think it was like him and George Kittle were the tops of it and they were like far and away above like the next closest guys for that.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_05]: So I have Tucker craft, this is coming out party, you know, buy craft mac and cheese, send in your fantasy football team them and you have a chance to win twenty five thousand dollars.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_05]: I think they have you guys see that partnership that they now have a brand deal together.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, very good.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_05]: So that is my offensive player of the year.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_03]: Craft was was my second pick.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm very high on him this year too.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_05]: Next one the most important person of the year, you know, like last year, I think I picked like the offensive coordinator and like the wide receiver coach and what happened.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_05]: We had we let the we were like tops in the league and wide receiver drops.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_05]: So I was right to say that they were important that they fucked up, but not to not just bring up last year.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_05]: What the Todd, who do you have your as your most important person of the year?
- 55:20[SPEAKER_07]: I have Jeffrey Halfley.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_07]: I think that if what with what we have the pieces we have on defense and disguising and covering up the flaws in this horrible cornerback room, if he can do that, put pressure where he didn't have anybody to do pressure before, put pressure on the quarterback like this defense could be
- 55:42[SPEAKER_07]: phenomenal even though it sucks on the back end like Jeff halfway could be like he could put together a masterpiece and then he's gonna get ahead coaching job but like still this year like it could be amazing like I really do feel like this defense could be unstoppable and I know I'm ragging on the CB room but like
- 56:04[SPEAKER_07]: If you play aggressive and that you allow those slow, short cornerbacks to play aggressive as well, they could pick off a lot of balls.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_07]: They don't have to run down the field.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_07]: They can play aggressive.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_07]: They can play short.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, we basically have, we have two, two slots that we're investing what a combined like, forty million dollars into, like Nixon's very, very cheap.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_07]: Is he okay.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_07]: I assumed he was more money.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know what the thing.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_07]: I want to say it's like it makes it in Hobbs if basically two slots in my opinion like that's their best the seams like where they would fit the best for sure next in I don't know it feels like if we can play more aggressive we can get to the ball we can do stuff like we can turn the ball over like
- 56:48[SPEAKER_07]: somebody was saying to about how like hey this offense has to be super aggressive because the defense is going to take the ball away and I do feel like that is the game plan for the year like be aggressive on both sides of the ball.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a Jeff Hathley is the beginning of all that.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to go next again so that I can, you know, Billy, you went for his last time, so I'm gonna jump in.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_05]: I am going to go with, you know, this might be shocking.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_05]: Jordan love the X-factor of all X-factures.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I mean, in this is, it's kind of going under the radar almost, but this is a huge year for him.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he's kind of him didn't haunt for what he is as a quarterback.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_05]: I would think, nationally, he's kind of viewed the same way we see Justin Herbert for the Chargers.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_05]: where we all know the talents there and he's shown it at times, but he has really been all that consistent, you know, he has had more playoff success than Justin Herbert, because I don't think he's ever been in the playoffs or had a playoff win at least.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_05]: But it's just after the first year where he looked incredible a second half, last year kind of up and down and battled the injuries.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_05]: He is it.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, what is this team going to be?
- 57:55[SPEAKER_05]: Are we going to be the running gun?
- 57:57[SPEAKER_05]: Big game hunter?
- 57:58[SPEAKER_05]: Is he going to be the, you know, kind of takeaway or turnover prone quarterback that we've seen at times early on in these seasons, you know, last his first season and then last season to like through the first what eight games he like basically led the league and turnovers.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of them not his fault either.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see what happens with the white outs if they can start catching the ball.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_05]: but it comes down to him.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_05]: It's weird because you almost want him to play a little bit more conservatively just because of how gut our defense is going to be and how good the running game is going to be like last year but is there really a lot of room for long-term success doing that because we saw the back half of last year when we were more conservative we didn't you know it Jordan love just felt out of sync at times on offense you know like the last month of the year everything felt a little wrong so if you can come out
- 58:48[SPEAKER_05]: Big Game Hunter, Deep Balls to Matthew Golden, maybe a little bit more accurate in this short game, which he struggled with at times.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_05]: If Journal Love comes out and he's a top ten quarterback for this team and he just stays away from the turnovers.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_05]: We should at a minimum make it to at least the NFC title game, I feel like.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_03]: So Jordan love was my pick as well.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_03]: So my second choice, and I'm trying to figure out which direction to take this.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm just going to cheat and say, I'm picking the entire wide receiver room, all the wide receivers and the whoever the hell the wide receiver's coaches.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_03]: Ryan and have you.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_03]: So is this the year that Dantavian Wex figures it out and can catch the ball?
- 59:45[SPEAKER_03]: Can Jaden read be consistent?
- 59:47[SPEAKER_03]: Can Matthew Golden pick up the offense and contribute in a big way as a rookie?
- 59:54[SPEAKER_03]: Can Romeo dobs improve his consistency?
- 59:58[SPEAKER_03]: He had a couple of drops during the preseason.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_03]: What's Christian Watson going to look like and when does Christian Watson come back is saving on Williams going to carve out a role like there's just so many questions in that wider silver room.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I feel like that's a big reason why Jordan love was inconsistent last year too.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_03]: And that was, you know, like I said, one of the reasons why I wanted to take Josh Jacobs is offensive player.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_03]: The year is having that strong running game helps take some of that pressure off of love in the receivers, but there's still going to be games and plays where we need a wide receiver to step up and make a play.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_03]: And right now, I don't really know who that is going to be.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, fair.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_05]: I really like that pick because it's very similar to what I had last year, even including the coach.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, in like, on something here, I feel like how you could almost throw out their two, like, Romeo dobs still.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_05]: Like he's a guy and not like fantasy football is everything, but he's going so late, like last round pretty much of drafts.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_05]: like you could throw him in as a flex just about any week and he could give you fifty yards and a touchdown like did he lead our team in receiving touchdowns last year and almost positive he did and he's still like what the fourth wide out we usually mention when we're going through the guys this year so I think we're struck a craft led the team in receiving touchdowns last year but from the yes but from the wide out say think he was he was the top top guy probably yeah
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_05]: With that next one, again, getting more negative the intrusive thought.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_05]: Each of our most intrusive thought is usually a negative thing.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe it's something positive.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_05]: It's something that just keeps creeping up in the back of your mind.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's not positive.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_05]: It's not positive.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to go first.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_05]: My intrusive thought and it kind of goes with what I just picked But again, and I've talked about in the past would be nice if it's still mine if you could just take we talked about it earlier if you could just take if you could rewire a brain but
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_05]: My interests of thought is would the twenty twenty five green Bay Packers be better off with Aaron Rogers at quarterback than Jordan love.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_05]: Again, it's just a run a run first offense.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_05]: A really, really good defense.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I don't know if you would check out of plays that would have him throw the ball more, but I'm just wondering if a more conservative offense where you just need to keep your head above water.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_05]: If Aaron Rogers who is the, you know,
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_05]: least about a turnovers of a quarterback in NFL history.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_05]: If that type of quarterback play is what this team would need over Jordan love, who is more of that big game hunter that we've seen at times.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_05]: That's just the little thought.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_05]: I still think it was obviously the right move to go with Jordan love, especially long-term here, but I'm just like
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, what does old rudge you have left in the tank and I think maybe he's still gonna surprise some people this year in Pittsburgh, but that is my intrusive thought going on.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_03]: You're you're saying post Achilles tear Aaron Rogers versus Jordan love.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yes, like Aaron like this year's version of Aaron Rogers.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, Aaron Aaron Charles Rogers.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, Aaron Rogers.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, Aaron Rogers.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_05]: One of you guys can go in.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_05]: Who's up?
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_05]: Who's up?
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_03]: You're up.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_03]: Billy, you go.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_03]: You are.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, fine.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_03]: So Todd, you, you already kind of touched on mine, but mine is how much longer will Jeff halfway be defensive coordinator before he gets poached to be a head coach?
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_03]: Like, okay, obviously he had a really strong, strong debut last year, you know, top five defense and yards and points.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_03]: Adding Mike a Parsons this year, he interviewed for a couple of head coaching jobs last year.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_03]: And I think at the time, we probably just figured, he's, you know, he's just a token request.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_03]: Like, they just want to want to learn more about him.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know that he was ever a finalist or in any real danger of leaving.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, now that we've added Parsons, if we go out defensively and have another big year, is he gone in next off season?
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_03]: And then maybe more importantly, where do we go from here?
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_03]: Because I don't know that we necessarily have an heir apparent to him on the staff.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_05]: So we, you know, last year, and I'm a dumb fan, I'm an optimist, but after hearing him talk a few times and seeing the stuff written about him, I was like,
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_05]: I switched it because a couple years ago, I was like, we need to win a Super Bowl with this receiver core.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_05]: That is age not very well, but I switched it last year.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, we need to win one with Jeff Hathley as a defensive coordinator because I think he's going to be really good.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_05]: And I do think this is going to be his last year as our DC.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_05]: I wonder how many guys he would take with them, too, which is almost the worst part about that because I think we do have some better guys who can step up to be a DC now because like,
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_05]: What is it?
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_05]: Coving tin, I believe, or coming to him, whatever the defense of line coach, he would probably be first in line to be the next DC because he has that experience.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_05]: The other dark course one that I have is Ryan Downer, the safety coach who was with, um,
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_05]: was with halfway with the browns and he's a very smart dude.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_05]: He's the safety coach now.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_05]: He's coached them up the last two years and we've seen how good those guys have played with it being seen the Anderson having to come in, you know, Evan Williams.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think he's had a show Xavier McKinney much, but that would be my dark horse to replace him.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_05]: I don't have to step on toes there, but yeah, I just wanted to throw that in there too.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_05]: Todd, what is your intrusive thought?
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_07]: guys are not going to like this, but it's like there's a person dies.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_07]: No, he hasn't been he's still not real to me, so I can't even say anything about her.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_07]: My interests have thought this is a real intrusive thought that I like I can't every so I'm watching games and I'm trying to be positive and I'm cheering on my team and it pops into my head every now and then.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_07]: My intrusive thought that's been a theme for the last couple of years is Jordan left sucks.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_07]: and sometimes I just like some of the throws are great but then some of the throws I'm like what the fuck was that and I'm like is this like he had like his knick full remember when knick fulls had that amazing year in like the one that he wanted to
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, that's probably it and then he just disappeared.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_07]: There's like all nipples trash I think you're talking about the year yet like twenty seven touchdowns and two picks it was it was the year that they beat the Patriots on the what was that the Philly Philly special or whatever here.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_07]: Okay
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_07]: twenty eighteen i think is what it was uh... whatever year is um... one of your boys was born yes yes twenty eighteen uh... so the uh... like it so sometimes he throws a ball in a blank
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_07]: because like when Rogers throws it like I'm spoiled with Rogers and that's genuinely where this intrusive that comes from but like being spoiled with Rogers and like literally the most talented arm in all football like that's Rogers and then you go and watch Jordan and you're like what the fuck was that he throws the ball and you're like I don't know what the fuck that was other times it's great but like I have these intrusive thoughts from like
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_07]: Jordan loves a frog and like we actually like we're going like this interests these are not real.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_07]: But it like we suck we're going nowhere because our quarterback's awful.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_07]: But then I also look around the league and I'm like how many hurts has ZF two touchdowns or two touchdowns?
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_07]: Does he have two super bowls or just one one?
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_07]: If Jalen hurts, go into Super Bowl.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_07]: Anybody can win a Super Bowl.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_07]: There you go.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_07]: My, there you go.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_07]: So, Brent, don't count that.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_07]: Super, if a cow fell for him.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_07]: What a Super Bowl.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_07]: Exactly.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_05]: It's just, it's your nightmare thoughts.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_05]: You don't have it when you're awake.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_05]: It's like when you're sleeping, any of the nightmares.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Jordan, love might not be good.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_05]: You don't actually think that.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_07]: No, I don't actually think it, but it scares me.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_07]: Cause sometimes I'm like, is it real?
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_07]: Well, it's, no, it's not.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_05]: It's a good shit.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_05]: It's a little bit, it keeps Todd off at night.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_05]: We were all talking there.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_05]: I think I think we froze up on the zoom.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_05]: Like you see highlights or clips of Jordan love and you see the slow mobile of his and the air.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_05]: It's never a spiral.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_05]: It's always never a spiral and to your point of like his bad throws to it's we were blessed with Rogers like Rogers would have his peak like that five year real peak that he had.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_05]: There would be like five throws a season where you're like, what was that?
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_07]: and with Jordan and you're always like, oh, it was the receiver's fault.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_07]: That's what you say in your head.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_05]: And with Jordan love, it's like three times a game.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_05]: He has what the fuck was that throw.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't know.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_05]: There's still, there's enough of those stats out there where you see like, oh offensive EPA with Jordan
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_05]: DVO, he's like, hot five and everything.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like, okay, well, we'll focus on that.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_05]: His pocket presence is like, tops and the league too, which I think might be a little underrated.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_05]: He says he's gonna run a little bit more this year.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like too.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_05]: It's just like the short, the short accuracy and the intermediate accuracy is what gives me the PBG with him.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_05]: Everything else, awesome.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_05]: But that's, that's.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_07]: He has like elite arm talent, but it's like gunslinger talent, which is scary.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_07]: Exactly.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_07]: it makes you as a fan especially after watching Aaron Rogers who was like the ball protection king like he didn't throw which was frustrating as well it has its flaws but at the same time it's like when you watch love throw at sometimes I'm like it's just you have those moments really like we got to we got to hear something out like I don't know is this doesn't look good and then he goes and throws a deep all between double coverage between the safeties and you're like fuck that was a rocket like that was awesome
- 1:09:52[SPEAKER_03]: I was going to take your comments the other way about the the throws that are like what the hell is that like how many times did we see Rogers make it thrown it was like holy shit how did he get that in there all the time right and with Jordan love like
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really have those throws, like the only one that I can specifically remember is the touchdown to Tucker craft against Houston last year.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_03]: But even the deep ones in between two guys, it's like, the fuck are you doing Jordan love?
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_03]: Why are you throwing it to that guy?
- 1:10:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't look at it as a great throw.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_03]: I look at it as fuck we got really goddamn lucky on that.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_07]: I like when he uses the power and his arm to be coverage.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_07]: I like that.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_07]: That's really fun to watch.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_07]: But yes, outside of the like he doesn't have like a touch.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_07]: He has, you can count on one hand the good touch balls that you've seen from Jordan Love, right?
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_07]: Like where you puts like the Russell Wilson law bonnet and drops it into a bucket like he doesn't have very many of those.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_05]: The Jaden Reed deep ball against the Rams last year is one of those, oh my god plays, but again, that was lucky.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_05]: The Danteving Wix touchdown against Dallas, but you're right in talking where it's like, with Aaron Rodgers, the Wild throws, you were never scared.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_05]: With Jordan Rive, you are scared as soon as the ball leaves.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_05]: Like, right, the playoff game against the Niners, that throw that sealed the loss.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_05]: The way he ran and threw it across his body, I was like, someone's wide ass open.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_05]: This is a huge play and there was nobody who was like, double coverage was terrible.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_05]: That's what I was like, ah fuck.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_05]: That's what you're a little worried about and we didn't get that with Rogers much at all.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_07]: the biggest like comparison for me is like when Rogers when you would see Rogers climb the pocket and heva ball you were like yes and when you see love climb the pocket and heva ball you're like oh you're like a little bit like squeezy right off the bat but like when Rogers says you're like oh Jordi Nelson's wide open somewhere down the field he's gonna run for a touchdown
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_07]: and then you watch love do it and you're like it's like when when you hit turbulence on an airplane you're like oh like what is this I know it's gonna be okay but it doesn't feel good right now yeah all the planes I've been on have landed but some planes don't land so there's like that you know what I mean
- 1:12:09[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we need to move on.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm old enough to have watched Brett Farve watching Brett Farve growing up.
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_03]: It was never.
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he's gonna throw a touchdown.
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_03]: It was please don't throw an interception Brett.
- 1:12:23[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of how I feel what you're in love.
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, bold prediction of the year.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_05]: We each have a bold prediction for the season.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_05]: Billy, why don't you want to go first here?
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_03]: So Spencer, I'd like to your offensive player the year pick.
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_03]: My bold prediction, Tucker craft will break the franchise single season receiving record for tight end for receptions and yards.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I'm going to go next.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_05]: I like my pick for off as a player.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_05]: So I have Tucker craft.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_05]: You do going over one thousand yards receiving on the season.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_05]: Paul Kaufman has the record at eight hundred and fourteen.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm even being bolder than Billy.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_05]: I looked it up to over the last ten years, only fifteen times has a tight end gone over a thousand yards, so this is pretty rare.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_05]: Again, there's only usually one to two guys a year that usually does it.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_05]: If you, if you think this isn't bold enough, I was even ready to add in also the most touchdowns in Packers history from a tight end, which would be twelve going over Kaufman and Robert Tunion who have each scored eleven touchdowns per season and also legends.
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_05]: Shout out to Robert Tunion.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_05]: He was like on the practice squad of the Vikings last year.
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_05]: He got called up for like a month.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_05]: to the active fifty three and then cut and put back on the practice what he did make the chiefs fifty three this year which is pretty cool so good for him but I have Tucker Crafts kind of like Billy Best Tedite Titan season over a thousand yards receiving and then you know maybe he also has twelve touchdowns too
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think that thousand yards is plenty bold that that was going to be my first one and then I looked up what the record was and I figured that record is stood since nineteen eighty three but then the receiving or the receptions record is sixty one by finley in twenty twelve so I think he's going to get both of them
- 1:14:23[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_03]: I have I've touched on the nerds.
- 1:14:25[SPEAKER_03]: You have yard receptions and yards.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_03]: So now he's going to he's going to get all three and just have the greatest tight end season in Packer's history.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_03]: Todd.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_07]: I am going to switch to the other side of the ball, and I'm going to say the Packers have the number one defense this year.
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_07]: That's my bold prediction.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_07]: I think that there's enough talent now on this roster with the past rush to do something pretty historic.
- 1:14:51[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know when the last time the Packers had a number one defense was, but I'd venture to say it was never, or maybe like the twenty years or something like that.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_07]: So I didn't look up the stands for that.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_07]: But I just deny the six we have the number one offense in number one defense.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_07]: I guess that makes sense.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_07]: But I would, I just think that like the personnel feels like it's there.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_07]: It feels like Gary's so much better as a number two than a number one.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_07]: He's missing those double teams.
- 1:15:19[SPEAKER_07]: He's not getting chip by or running back.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_07]: Like there's gonna be so much attention on Micah that it opens up the rest of the defense for everybody.
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_07]: And this was already a top five depending on where you look, but like a top five defense last year.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_07]: And like we really didn't lose anybody other than Kenny Clark.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_07]: So like it's pretty him.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_07]: I mean this could be pretty impressive.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_07]: So and I just believe in Jeff Hathley.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_07]: I just believe in what he can do.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_07]: The simulated pressures.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_07]: If you look at what he's done with those safety so far, like I think that that's going to be pretty exciting.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_05]: We have a stud at every level.
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_05]: We got Parsons, we got Cooper, we got Xavier McKinney, and then we got Carrington Valentine.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_05]: You know, for the top, most elite author positions in the league.
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_05]: So, and you do really have depth almost everywhere.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_05]: I'm surprised you didn't push back when I said the Carrington Valentine thing, but we, we move forward.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_05]: The, the third level is, is not quarterback.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_05]: Safety.
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_05]: Moving on to finish off the predictions for the season.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_05]: We're each going to say what we think the record of the Green Bay Packers are going to be and then what we kind of, we'll talk about it during the by week too, but what the outcome of the season will be.
- 1:16:34[SPEAKER_05]: Reminder out there, too, Vegas right now has us the over under at ten and a half wins.
- 1:16:39[SPEAKER_05]: It was nine and a half before the Micaparthan is straight.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_05]: Also, put in this out there.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_05]: This is sad to hear.
- 1:16:46[SPEAKER_05]: We haven't won the division since twenty twenty one.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully that changes to yikes before before the person's trade.
- 1:16:54[SPEAKER_05]: We had twenty to one odds to win the Super Bowl, which were the eighth best.
- 1:16:58[SPEAKER_05]: We are now thirteen to one, which is the second best in the NFC, just behind the Eagles and ahead of the Lions.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_05]: I believe it's like fifth or sixth best now.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_07]: It's funny that the odds go that way, but they have us as a ten win team.
- 1:17:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the wind totals are, they're, they're usually low overall.
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_05]: Like, I wouldn't be surprised if the, if the Eagles are at eleven and a half.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_05]: Like, there just isn't a lot of leeway for setting.
- 1:17:23[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_05]: Jordan love twenty five to one to win the MVP.
- 1:17:27[SPEAKER_05]: It's usually between twenty five and twenty to one to win the MVP.
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_05]: But those are the big odds for the season long.
- 1:17:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just going to go first.
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_05]: I have the Packers going twelve and five and I have them at least making the NFC Championship game.
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_05]: These first two games are going to be pretty big, not just for obviously the record and getting off to a hot start, but we're going up against the Lions, we're going up against the defenders, two teams who you know lasted pretty deep into the playoffs last year into the divisional round.
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_05]: So some tiebreakers might be decided right off the bat.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_05]: one way or another, but yes, I, especially after this person's trade, it's super bold or bust.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_05]: If we don't make it to the NFC championship game, I think this season is a let down unless something happens.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know what could happen.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not going to jinx things.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_05]: Like Todd might have earlier in this episode, but twelve and five offenses good defenses better and we make it to the NFC championship game.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_07]: Side note you can't jinx some if you say something's going to happen.
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_07]: That's not jinx.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_07]: If you say it's not going to happen.
- 1:18:32[SPEAKER_07]: That's jinxing it.
- 1:18:33[SPEAKER_07]: So just want to throw it out.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_05]: Sometimes just bringing a link to something, you know, didn't like Alex.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_05]: If you now let's Jones say there was going to potentially be a terrorist attack like a week before an I love and people have said that.
- 1:18:45[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_07]: I just feel like if you say the bad thoughts out loud, then they're less likely to come true.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_07]: Like that's how I feel.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_07]: We'll see.
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_07]: Well, and if they do come true, then you say you called it.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_07]: You knew.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:19:14[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you keep talking somewhere to Alex.
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_05]: You keep talking here.
- 1:19:18[SPEAKER_05]: Mr. Jones.
- 1:19:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
- 1:19:19[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_05]: You can keep talking with your prediction for the season.
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_07]: I also had them at twelve and five.
- 1:19:25[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like I went through the list and I really tried to like,
- 1:19:31[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, like I feel like the nation doesn't have us and is good of a spot as I feel like we're in in my head even before the person's trade, so I don't know if like I'm just being like a dumb thing is a tough schedule.
- 1:19:45[SPEAKER_07]: I look at the schedule and it's a tough schedule like across the board, but I'm like
- 1:19:51[SPEAKER_07]: Man, I do feel like eleven or twelve wins is the correct amount.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_07]: It's not even like stretching.
- 1:19:58[SPEAKER_07]: Like there's teams on here that I'm like, can I just don't see us losing just so many of these?
- 1:20:02[SPEAKER_07]: Like obviously the division is tough.
- 1:20:04[SPEAKER_07]: Like there's a couple teams that like on paper look good.
- 1:20:07[SPEAKER_07]: But like I'm not super scared of Minnesota with JJ McCarthy at the helm.
- 1:20:12[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not super scared.
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm just not super scared of the quarterback position.
- 1:20:17[SPEAKER_07]: in the NFC North.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_07]: Like Jared Goff never scared me.
- 1:20:20[SPEAKER_07]: He did play very well last year.
- 1:20:22[SPEAKER_07]: Um, but I just feel like getting a little bit of pressure on these guys on these quarterbacks in our division, which I feel like we can do now completely changes the game for us.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_07]: Anyways, that's where I had.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_07]: I has a twelve and five.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe a little bit optimistic.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_07]: You could talk me into twelve and sick or eleven and six.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_07]: But, um, yeah, that's where I'm at.
- 1:20:40[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I do also think championship is it does feel like expectations are there.
- 1:20:46[SPEAKER_07]: So
- 1:20:47[SPEAKER_03]: Apparently I'm the least optimistic one again, which feels like it's always the case.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean not not that I think not that I think we're gonna go eight nine or something I have us going eleven and six like you said
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like you said Todd, it's a tough schedule and there's a lot of games in there where it's like I could see is coming out and shooting the bed and losing this game.
- 1:21:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like we have Baltimore in the schedule, we have the commanders on the schedule, we have to go to Denver, we have to go to Pittsburgh.
- 1:21:23[SPEAKER_03]: We have Philadelphia and then the division we were a blocked field goal away from getting swept by the division last year.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_03]: Now Detroit lost a whole bunch of coaches both their coordinators.
- 1:21:35[SPEAKER_03]: They're still going to be strong though.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_03]: The bears I think are going to be a better team than last year even if their record doesn't reflect it.
- 1:21:43[SPEAKER_03]: And the Vikings, I agree that I'm not super scared of JJ McCarthy now, but he's walking into about the best situation that a first year starting quarterback could walk into.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_05]: He and he is stepping into the best situation since Caleb Williams in twenty twenty four.
- 1:22:01[SPEAKER_05]: That's my turn.
- 1:22:02[SPEAKER_05]: Remember that last year.
- 1:22:03[SPEAKER_07]: Remember that?
- 1:22:04[SPEAKER_07]: That is seriously.
- 1:22:06[SPEAKER_07]: That is true.
- 1:22:08[SPEAKER_03]: However, we also, we also don't play Minnesota until like mid November.
- 1:22:13[SPEAKER_03]: So JJ McCarthy has a lot of time to figure it.
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_05]: And then it's the flex game we get.
- 1:22:20[SPEAKER_05]: How do we usually?
- 1:22:21[SPEAKER_05]: It feels like the last three or four years.
- 1:22:23[SPEAKER_05]: We've played them very early in the season too.
- 1:22:25[SPEAKER_05]: So I like that we're playing them later in the year.
- 1:22:30[SPEAKER_03]: So yes, I have eleven and six and us making the NFC divisional.
- 1:22:35[SPEAKER_03]: I just think there's there's a lot of teams that could be strong in the playoffs and once you get into the playoffs, it's all about matchups and we still have Philly hanging out there.
- 1:22:47[SPEAKER_03]: I could see three teams from the NFC North making it.
- 1:22:51[SPEAKER_03]: The commanders are expected to be strong again and then the Falcons, the box out of the south.
- 1:22:59[SPEAKER_03]: a lot of interesting teams in the NFC.
- 1:23:03[SPEAKER_07]: One of the things that I look at though when I see this is like if you swapped all the homes in a ways, I feel like you can make the argument of like this is a ten win team.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_07]: Just because like we're playing like the right teams at home, but probably like the tougher teams at home, we're not like on the road for these shitty games.
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_07]: where it's like having Philly at home, you know, having, I don't know, Washington at home.
- 1:23:25[SPEAKER_07]: It feels like having the ravens at home.
- 1:23:28[SPEAKER_07]: It's like, if you were to swap all these and like, because like, okay, we go to Denver.
- 1:23:33[SPEAKER_07]: It's like, okay, well, like Denver's not really scary.
- 1:23:36[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, we go to New York.
- 1:23:37[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, who cares?
- 1:23:38[SPEAKER_04]: We get the medical syndrome.
- 1:23:39[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, who cares?
- 1:23:40[SPEAKER_07]: Like, you know what I mean?
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, look at this and I'm like, if you flopped all the homes in a ways, I would honestly feel way different.
- 1:23:49[SPEAKER_07]: But like I feel like home field can matter just enough to like make or break your season depending on who you play and it's just like we play all our tough games at home, which feels that that's nice for once.
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_05]: I might have mentioned this last week, but something else that I think works in our favor this year to disturb things off is our last preseason game was at home against the seahawks.
- 1:24:13[SPEAKER_05]: two weeks off or whatever and then we're playing home against the lines then home against the commanders like that team isn't moving for what five weeks like that's yeah that's a month that's nice especially with last year how different was fucking start in season off flying to Brazil and then having to get settled again we do have a that uh... commanders game is Thursday night
- 1:24:36[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't think it's the worst thing to have a Thursday night game at the beginning of the season when you're probably not all that banged up anyways.
- 1:24:44[SPEAKER_03]: So I think I like I like having that Thursday night game early in the year getting it out of the way.
- 1:24:51[SPEAKER_03]: So we're relatively healthy and it's at home.
- 1:24:53[SPEAKER_03]: So we don't have to turn around and travel on a short week plus the home game before it.
- 1:24:58[SPEAKER_03]: So it's not like we're getting back into Green Bay late on a Sunday night or whatever.
- 1:25:03[SPEAKER_03]: Um, the one thing I don't like about this.
- 1:25:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, there's a couple of things.
- 1:25:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't like about the schedule with the early by week is horrible.
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_05]: That is the biggest bummer.
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_05]: We five is at the first.
- 1:25:15[SPEAKER_05]: It's the earliest we've ever had it.
- 1:25:18[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that's gross.
- 1:25:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, especially when you look at seven or five of our last seven games are divisional games That is so gross to have that or we have a by week because like that end of the season matters so much for us, but it will work out when we have a by week
- 1:25:36[SPEAKER_05]: going into the playoffs.
- 1:25:38[SPEAKER_05]: With that, that is our season predictions, all our season predictions, our season preview, all of those will age gracefully and correctly.
- 1:25:48[SPEAKER_05]: Billy, you have our first stumped spiny of the season, our trivia, where you try to stump me, but it is impossible.
- 1:25:55[SPEAKER_05]: It is never happened.
- 1:25:56[SPEAKER_05]: I think I was about five hundred last year.
- 1:25:57[SPEAKER_05]: I'm pretty sure I was one or two about five hundred.
- 1:25:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's probably a factually correct.
- 1:26:02[SPEAKER_03]: I think this one is going to be on the easier side, but, you know, well, we'll give you kind of a lay-up as we start to get our voting here for the season.
- 1:26:15[SPEAKER_03]: Matt LaFlor enters the season with sixty-seven regular season victories as head coach with at least nine wins this season.
- 1:26:25[SPEAKER_03]: He will pass which former Packers head coach for fourth most in franchise history?
- 1:26:32[SPEAKER_03]: What's obviously not McCarthy?
- 1:26:34[SPEAKER_05]: Just wins.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_05]: Correct.
- 1:26:39[SPEAKER_05]: To go to fourth.
- 1:26:41[SPEAKER_03]: Correct.
- 1:26:42[SPEAKER_05]: Because it's a lumbarty.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so it's Mike Sherman.
- 1:26:48[SPEAKER_03]: Incorrect.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_03]: Who is it?
- 1:26:51[SPEAKER_03]: Mike Holmgren.
- 1:26:52[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, okay.
- 1:26:52[SPEAKER_05]: I guess because it was such a short amount of time.
- 1:26:55[SPEAKER_03]: Lambo is first.
- 1:26:57[SPEAKER_03]: McCarthy is second.
- 1:27:01[SPEAKER_03]: Vince is third and then Holmgren is for him.
- 1:27:05[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 1:27:05[SPEAKER_07]: We're Sherman.
- 1:27:06[SPEAKER_07]: Fifth.
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_07]: I think he's sixth maybe.
- 1:27:14[SPEAKER_07]: Who's in between?
- 1:27:15[SPEAKER_07]: Stop Billy.
- 1:27:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to pull it up.
- 1:27:19[SPEAKER_05]: Dan divine forest Greg Bart star.
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_05]: I was going to say Bart star maybe.
- 1:27:24[SPEAKER_05]: He was just around me.
- 1:27:27[SPEAKER_03]: He was around a while.
- 1:27:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the seventies for the executive board didn't have sure Sherman has fifty seven big things right six Bart star fifty two.
- 1:27:41[SPEAKER_03]: Isn't seven.
- 1:27:44[SPEAKER_03]: So who's
- 1:27:45[SPEAKER_07]: Who's fifth?
- 1:27:45[SPEAKER_07]: Wait, so who's in between?
- 1:27:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:27:48[SPEAKER_07]: The floor's fifth.
- 1:27:50[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:27:51[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, okay.
- 1:27:53[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:27:54[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:27:54[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I don't know if that was that easy.
- 1:27:56[SPEAKER_07]: I was going to get sure.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:28:02[SPEAKER_05]: Well, over one for the year.
- 1:28:04[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:28:04[SPEAKER_05]: You guys ready for the lines again?
- 1:28:06[SPEAKER_05]: Just kind of dull.
- 1:28:09[SPEAKER_05]: And energy just kind of die there.
- 1:28:10[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:28:13[SPEAKER_05]: He lines over view.
- 1:28:14[SPEAKER_05]: And this is fun.
- 1:28:15[SPEAKER_05]: You know, AI, terrible robots, yuck, clankers.
- 1:28:18[SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's the slur that we call them.
- 1:28:21[SPEAKER_05]: Clankers.
- 1:28:22[SPEAKER_05]: It's all bad, but instead of, you know, the most boring part of my job prepping for this podcast is doing the getting the background information of the teamer playing AI really does help me out for this.
- 1:28:34[SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully this is good.
- 1:28:37[SPEAKER_05]: sponsored by chat GPT hopefully it's accurate most importantly so certain things off as always the Packers are playing the lines at Lambel Field a three twenty five kickoff CBS has the game so Jim Nance and Tony Romal are on the call Packers are currently two and a half point favorites they did get a point another point after we traded for Michael Parsons it was one and a half before that
- 1:29:01[SPEAKER_05]: We're at the point over under is set at forty seven points.
- 1:29:04[SPEAKER_05]: I believe that is the second highest in the NFL for week one.
- 1:29:07[SPEAKER_05]: Usually the over under is there a little higher beginning of the year where defenses are a little bit better than the offenses.
- 1:29:12[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like, but overview of the lines, the lines hit it to twenty twenty five as the NFC North champs following a franchise record fifteen and two season in twenty twenty four.
- 1:29:23[SPEAKER_05]: But they did lose in the first round embarrassingly to the Washington Commanders.
- 1:29:27[SPEAKER_05]: The Detroit has won six of the last seven meetings against the Packers, including three straight at Lambo.
- 1:29:33[SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully, you know, it is a what's Sunday afternoon game, whatever.
- 1:29:39[SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully they did not sell their fucking tickets, so there's been a lot of Honolulu blue at Lambo the last few years.
- 1:29:46[SPEAKER_05]: The big thing, coaching changes, you know, we hinted at it, but looking into it, it is nuts, how much of it turned over they had.
- 1:29:55[SPEAKER_05]: So they had a massive overhaul, losing both coordinators to head coaching jobs, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears taking assistance Antoine Randall L.
- 1:30:05[SPEAKER_05]: as a white receiver coach and JT Barrett as a QB coach sidebar God we went we've already gone long but I this popped up in my brain last week trading away Kenny Clark I was like oh man that's sad to lose a leader a really good player for this team the year before potentially we you know getting ahead of ourselves me getting ahead of ourselves
- 1:30:27[SPEAKER_05]: Potentially winning a Super Bowl.
- 1:30:29[SPEAKER_05]: It reminded me of Al Harris, you know, battling after turning his ACL.
- 1:30:35[SPEAKER_05]: He was on the PUP to start the twenty ten season.
- 1:30:38[SPEAKER_05]: Packers eventually cut him like midway through the year.
- 1:30:40[SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, Oh, it sucks that Al Harris missed out on the Super Bowl.
- 1:30:44[SPEAKER_05]: We'll be treated Kenny Clark to the Cowboys.
- 1:30:45[SPEAKER_05]: And I was like, Oh, my God.
- 1:30:48[SPEAKER_05]: Kenny Clark is with Al Harris.
- 1:30:51[SPEAKER_05]: in Dallas.
- 1:30:52[SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's not true because L Harris also went to Chicago with Ben Johnson as the defense of back coach.
- 1:30:58[SPEAKER_05]: So that whole storyline isn't actually true.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_05]: So anyways, that's who went to Chicago defensive coordinator for the Lions last year.
- 1:31:05[SPEAKER_05]: Aaron Glenn is now the Jets head coach.
- 1:31:08[SPEAKER_05]: He is accompanied by a systems Tanner angstran who was the Lions pass game coordinator last year.
- 1:31:14[SPEAKER_05]: He is the Jets offensive coordinator.
- 1:31:17[SPEAKER_05]: Steve Heiden, who is lines tight end coach, he's going to be the jets offensive line coach.
- 1:31:23[SPEAKER_05]: Cam Davis, the assistant defensive line coach.
- 1:31:26[SPEAKER_05]: He was the assistant defensive line coach for the lines.
- 1:31:31[SPEAKER_05]: He is that same thing for the jets, which wouldn't be that big of a deal, but they also lost their defensive line coach, who is the Patriots defensive coordinator now.
- 1:31:40[SPEAKER_05]: So they lost a shit ton of coaches.
- 1:31:42[SPEAKER_05]: To replace these coaches, they promoted John Morton to offensive coordinator and Kelvin Shepard to defensive coordinator.
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_05]: Vegas think for me.
- 1:31:52[SPEAKER_05]: The biggest change with this Lions team is Morton is now their offensive coordinator.
- 1:31:57[SPEAKER_05]: He was a senior assistant for the Lions in twenty twenty two and the last two years he was the passing game coordinator for the Broncos.
- 1:32:04[SPEAKER_05]: The only experience he has calling plays at all.
- 1:32:09[SPEAKER_05]: was in twenty seventeen for the five and eleven jets.
- 1:32:12[SPEAKER_05]: They have a twenty five twenty fifth ranked offensive in the NFL.
- 1:32:16[SPEAKER_05]: This just seems huge and you're going from probably the best play caller in the NFL.
- 1:32:21[SPEAKER_05]: A guy who knows how to put plays together.
- 1:32:24[SPEAKER_05]: You know, in Ben Johnson to someone who struggled doing it for the jets and hasn't done it since twenty seventeen.
- 1:32:30[SPEAKER_05]: So.
- 1:32:32[SPEAKER_05]: That's, for me, that's the biggest reason why I think the lines aren't going to be that great this year.
- 1:32:38[SPEAKER_05]: And again, there are defensive coordinator too, former NFL linebacker.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_05]: He's been with the lines in this twenty twenty one being a linebacker coach.
- 1:32:44[SPEAKER_05]: This is also his first time calling plays on a defense.
- 1:32:49[SPEAKER_05]: So again, two guys who haven't called plays are now calling plays for the lines.
- 1:32:53[SPEAKER_05]: The new assistants include Trishart Choice, Runningbacks, Tyler Roll, Titans, David Shaw, the Passing Game Coordinator, Casey Rogers, Defensive Line, Bruce Gregg, Kowski, Offensive Assistant, Offensive Line Coach, Hank Fraley, who is already with them, is also the Run Game Coordinator now.
- 1:33:10[SPEAKER_05]: And it's something I've talked about in the past.
- 1:33:13[SPEAKER_05]: with us how Matt LeFlor does things differently.
- 1:33:15[SPEAKER_05]: Every one of those guys played in the NFL for at least two years and they're all position coaches.
- 1:33:22[SPEAKER_05]: Besides their passing game, coordinator David Shaw, who was Stanford's head coach for ten years, which is a pretty good get as well.
- 1:33:31[SPEAKER_05]: So it's just you see that Campbell values guys who have done it in the league and Matt LeFlor, as you said, another interview I watch of him this week,
- 1:33:40[SPEAKER_05]: He said again, the higher the person first in the coach second.
- 1:33:43[SPEAKER_05]: Matt that is fucking stupid.
- 1:33:45[SPEAKER_05]: That is the stupidest fucking thing you could say.
- 1:33:49[SPEAKER_05]: You hire he's a coach.
- 1:33:51[SPEAKER_05]: You're not hiring buddies.
- 1:33:52[SPEAKER_05]: You're hiring coaches for the team.
- 1:33:54[SPEAKER_05]: Anyways, whatever.
- 1:33:55[SPEAKER_05]: So the only coaches coming back at the same role they had last year is the special teams coordinator, the DB coach and the outside linebacker.
- 1:34:05[SPEAKER_05]: That's it.
- 1:34:06[SPEAKER_05]: Everyone else has a new job or they moved around or they're new in the building.
- 1:34:10[SPEAKER_05]: Last year the lions were elite on offense ranking first and points per game first and red zone touchdown percentage second in total yards second in the expected points added and third in offense of efficiency third in yards per play they also ranked sixth in rushing yards per game and tenth in total sex allowed This was despite all the injuries that they had but they do have challenges with
- 1:34:34[SPEAKER_05]: Frank Ragnal, the center, retiring, and Kevin Zittler, departing to Tennessee, and they have a couple of rookies coming into both of those spots.
- 1:34:42[SPEAKER_05]: So again, pretty easy.
- 1:34:46[SPEAKER_05]: Pretty easy to see the weakness on this offense here.
- 1:34:48[SPEAKER_05]: They still have Jared Goff.
- 1:34:49[SPEAKER_05]: He was very good last year, especially in the clean pocket.
- 1:34:52[SPEAKER_05]: He's great.
- 1:34:53[SPEAKER_05]: Jimmyard Gibbs, a very, very fast speedy dual threat running back, who average six point five yards per touch last year.
- 1:35:00[SPEAKER_05]: David Montgomery who had a thousand plus scrimmage yards and ten plus touchdowns each of the last two seasons.
- 1:35:06[SPEAKER_05]: I'm on Ross St.
- 1:35:07[SPEAKER_05]: Brown the two-time all-pro.
- 1:35:08[SPEAKER_05]: He had a twelve hundred yards receiving a twelve touchdowns last year.
- 1:35:12[SPEAKER_05]: They also have James and Williams who a lot of people think is a breakout candidate.
- 1:35:16[SPEAKER_05]: I don't because I think the offense isn't going to be very good without bad Johnson.
- 1:35:20[SPEAKER_05]: Sam will part of the tie-end who kind of came back down to earth after record setting rookie year and then rookie Isaac Tesla who's going to be their slot receiver Penny Suelle is the right tackle and the best tackles in the league on defense they're pretty good in the last year they're ranked seventh and points allowed at twenty point one fifth and rushing defense and first and third down conversion percentage at thirty percent however they were ranked thirty fifth and passing yards allowed despite all those injuries which
- 1:35:47[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, they were banged up last year with stupid with Eden Hutchinson Carlton Davis going down.
- 1:35:53[SPEAKER_05]: They had forty two different players log defensive snaps last year, which is crazy.
- 1:35:58[SPEAKER_05]: Again, Eden Hutchinson is returning from that league injury.
- 1:36:01[SPEAKER_05]: He had eleven and half-sax in twenty twenty three, Brian Branch and Kirby Joseph, one of the better safety duels in the league.
- 1:36:07[SPEAKER_05]: Alex and Zaloni, the veteran linebacker who always reacts with a bunch of tackles and seems to pick off balls against us.
- 1:36:14[SPEAKER_05]: DJ Reed is the corner they acquired this off season who replaced Carlton Davis.
- 1:36:19[SPEAKER_05]: So we shall see what happens.
- 1:36:20[SPEAKER_05]: Their kickers really good, twenty-six of twenty-nine last year.
- 1:36:23[SPEAKER_05]: Jick Fox, the punter, was tops in punting average.
- 1:36:27[SPEAKER_05]: Gross average last year, fifty-one yard is per punt.
- 1:36:30[SPEAKER_05]: In return, Khalif Raymond was the special teams player of the week, a couple of times in twenty twenty four and had a ninety yard punt return touchdown.
- 1:36:39[SPEAKER_05]: So they are pretty good.
- 1:36:40[SPEAKER_05]: That is the Lions.
- 1:36:42[SPEAKER_05]: Packers, just brief things here.
- 1:36:44[SPEAKER_05]: Elton Jenkins and Nate Hobves did not practice on Monday.
- 1:36:47[SPEAKER_05]: Those are the only two guys who did not practice.
- 1:36:50[SPEAKER_05]: Nate Hobves again.
- 1:36:51[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's going to be questionable.
- 1:36:52[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to guess he's not going to play in Elton Jenkins.
- 1:36:55[SPEAKER_05]: God, I really hope it was some type of rest day, even though they've been offered a couple weeks.
- 1:37:00[SPEAKER_05]: But you do wonder if maybe you know Sterling sharp did it way back in the day where he was there all training camp and then the week before the season he held out Before you got a new contract.
- 1:37:11[SPEAKER_05]: So you hope that's not what Elton is pulling here Hopefully he is practicing on Wednesday.
- 1:37:16[SPEAKER_05]: I do not know But yes, that is that was a lot to understand his first preview of the season But again, I just think a lot of changes happened with the Detroit Lions after being the NFC North champs last year
- 1:37:30[SPEAKER_05]: So, thoughts.
- 1:37:33[SPEAKER_07]: I, you talked about all the injuries, super key injuries like we're talking about super star players like Ann Hutchinson, and I feel like the telltale sign of a great coaching staff is being able to
- 1:37:48[SPEAKER_07]: essentially like leapfrog those guys find the next guy up and make them worth a shit right because like back up to the NFL in general there isn't a lot of depth they're not really worth a shit especially talking about like rushers right like dns and they're getting attacked by the other team
- 1:38:06[SPEAKER_07]: And yeah, and there were tons of injuries.
- 1:38:08[SPEAKER_07]: To me, that means the coaching staff was amazing.
- 1:38:12[SPEAKER_07]: The coaching staff has gone.
- 1:38:14[SPEAKER_07]: And yes, they're healthy now.
- 1:38:17[SPEAKER_07]: They have all those guys back.
- 1:38:18[SPEAKER_07]: But to me, a lot of that was like, it points to how good the coaching staff actually was.
- 1:38:24[SPEAKER_07]: And when you find out that they've just been completely robbed of everybody that's there, it makes you question how good are they actually going to be this year.
- 1:38:32[SPEAKER_07]: And obviously that's like,
- 1:38:35[SPEAKER_07]: because until hearing about like how many coaches they lost, and then like you explaining it, it's like that's insane to find out that they've lost that many.
- 1:38:44[SPEAKER_07]: So it's a brand new coaching staff like Ben Johnson, and who was the decorator again last year if you're going to say.
- 1:38:51[SPEAKER_07]: Glenn Glenn.
- 1:38:54[SPEAKER_07]: Those two guys like, Dan Campbell's like a raw raw, I get everybody fired up guy, but I don't really believe that he's a mastermind, you know, behind the offense or the defense, like he's just not like that's just not his thing.
- 1:39:07[SPEAKER_07]: He's like a motivator, which is all fine and Danny, but like,
- 1:39:11[SPEAKER_07]: Motivators, motivating coaches need good coordinators.
- 1:39:15[SPEAKER_07]: So it'll be interesting to see if they have them.
- 1:39:18[SPEAKER_07]: It's not impossible, but promoting guys, especially to play collar, that have never really had success calling plays, is a little bit scary if you're a Lions fan in my opinion.
- 1:39:29[SPEAKER_07]: So I don't know.
- 1:39:31[SPEAKER_07]: I would feel, I would be nervous as a Lions fan for this season.
- 1:39:35[SPEAKER_07]: So you have all your guys there, but if there's nobody to steer the ship,
- 1:39:40[SPEAKER_07]: like you're in trouble so
- 1:39:43[SPEAKER_03]: I kind of go back and forth on the Lions, like you said, the fact that they were just absolutely demolished by injuries last year, and they still finished fifteen and two.
- 1:39:53[SPEAKER_03]: They were the one seed in the NFC, not Philadelphia, is really impressive.
- 1:39:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's a testament to their coaching staff.
- 1:40:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think Dan Campbell is a really good coach.
- 1:40:03[SPEAKER_03]: I also can't stand how much I like them in.
- 1:40:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, Spencer, if you saw a big football game.
- 1:40:09[SPEAKER_03]: If you saw his quote about playing at Lambo,
- 1:40:13[SPEAKER_03]: today.
- 1:40:13[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, what was it?
- 1:40:15[SPEAKER_05]: God made Lamble on the eighth day or whatever.
- 1:40:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:40:18[SPEAKER_03]: God damn it, Dan Campbell.
- 1:40:22[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, I think going into this year, obviously losing both coordinators and all those coaches is a concern, but I think Dan Campbell has shown that he hires good coaches.
- 1:40:35[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:40:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he absolutely hit the ball out of the park with the hiring of Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.
- 1:40:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think they were together since he came in to Detroit.
- 1:40:48[SPEAKER_03]: So I would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's making the right selection.
- 1:40:55[SPEAKER_03]: They also promoted both new coordinators from within, so it's still going to be the same system, maybe with some new wrinkles.
- 1:41:01[SPEAKER_03]: But your question about play calling can you put a game plan together?
- 1:41:06[SPEAKER_03]: Can you call plays?
- 1:41:07[SPEAKER_03]: Can you set up other plays?
- 1:41:09[SPEAKER_03]: Are all valid questions?
- 1:41:11[SPEAKER_03]: But I still think Detroit is going to be competing for the NFC North Crown.
- 1:41:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think so too.
- 1:41:18[SPEAKER_05]: It's just it was such a huge strength for so many years like I still remember play that that game at Detroit on Thanksgiving when we shake it and the Jordan love coming out party.
- 1:41:29[SPEAKER_05]: There was still like that play caller was like third and a long and he called the put perfect like hb draw which almost picked up a first down like he just knows
- 1:41:37[SPEAKER_05]: What works at the right time and going to a guy who hasn't really called plays?
- 1:41:42[SPEAKER_05]: It's like I think there's going to be some type of coming back down to earth because again, it's Jared Goff.
- 1:41:47[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Jared Goff even when he had fucking Sean McVey calling plays for him was fine, but Sean McVey moved away from him.
- 1:41:56[SPEAKER_05]: So now having someone who isn't Ben Johnson calling plays, I just am looking forward to seeing what happens with them this year.
- 1:42:03[SPEAKER_07]: But Jared Gough has only ever had offensive geniuses.
- 1:42:06[SPEAKER_07]: You know, calling plays for him.
- 1:42:08[SPEAKER_07]: Literally.
- 1:42:09[SPEAKER_07]: Like, he's been so spoiled with offensive genius.
- 1:42:11[SPEAKER_07]: Like, he is Nick Fools.
- 1:42:14[SPEAKER_07]: Like, if you give him, give him an average play collar and see what he does.
- 1:42:19[SPEAKER_07]: I just want to see it.
- 1:42:20[SPEAKER_07]: And maybe we'll see it this year.
- 1:42:22[SPEAKER_03]: He also has really good weapons around him.
- 1:42:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean similar to JJ McCarthy.
- 1:42:26[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm in Ross Saint Brown is, I think he's underrated to be honest with you.
- 1:42:33[SPEAKER_03]: But I think he's a top ten receiver in football.
- 1:42:36[SPEAKER_03]: Jamir Gibbs and David Montgomery is probably the best running back duo in the league behind Josh Jacobs and Martian Lloyd, but yeah.
- 1:42:46[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 1:42:47[SPEAKER_03]: True Christmas.
- 1:42:49[SPEAKER_03]: Sam will pour just a good tight end.
- 1:42:51[SPEAKER_03]: They have a strong offensive line.
- 1:42:53[SPEAKER_03]: So he's got the pieces, but what's the what's the coordinator going to do?
- 1:42:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's potentially going to be some growing pains, but I think down the stretch they're going to be they're going to be hitting on all soliders and they get all these dudes from last year back from injury that they were missing when they were fifteen and two.
- 1:43:14[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of them, I've heard apparently lines fans are asking for the lines to sign sederious Smith, who they traded for late last year with all the intrigues that they had to do.
- 1:43:24[SPEAKER_05]: Zedarius is still a free agent.
- 1:43:25[SPEAKER_05]: He's just, I took a screenshot, I was going to post it like laughing on from the podcast account because he posted like, I'm single again or something like that.
- 1:43:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, what a high school boy type of like immature thing to tweet, but you know, that's just a serious myth.
- 1:43:42[SPEAKER_05]: With that, our score predictions, as we always do, I will go first.
- 1:43:45[SPEAKER_05]: I have the Packers winning this game, twenty four to twenty seven.
- 1:43:49[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I still think the lines are going to be solid.
- 1:43:51[SPEAKER_05]: You know, they're off.
- 1:43:52[SPEAKER_05]: It's still good.
- 1:43:53[SPEAKER_05]: They have the playmakers there.
- 1:43:54[SPEAKER_05]: You know, a lot of that stuff's in place, but we don't play the lines very well under Matt LaFlor and I have us just eating this one out of twenty four to twenty three.
- 1:44:03[SPEAKER_05]: Not covering, but winning.
- 1:44:07[SPEAKER_05]: One of you two, come on, come on.
- 1:44:08[SPEAKER_05]: Come on, speak up.
- 1:44:09[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, I'll go.
- 1:44:11[SPEAKER_07]: I have the Packers winning twenty seven twenty three.
- 1:44:14[SPEAKER_07]: You're very negative play calling.
- 1:44:18[SPEAKER_07]: But I was we have a one point difference.
- 1:44:19[SPEAKER_07]: I said you're way negative.
- 1:44:22[SPEAKER_07]: I feel like the play calling shows up in the end of the game and they kind of like maybe they start strong, but then we finish strong.
- 1:44:30[SPEAKER_07]: Packers can only play one good half of football, so I'm choosing the second half of the game as our good half.
- 1:44:35[SPEAKER_07]: God, I forgot about that.
- 1:44:36[SPEAKER_05]: God, that is gonna happen again, huh?
- 1:44:38[SPEAKER_05]: Remember the twenty, twenty, three season when it was like, which half is the good half?
- 1:44:43[SPEAKER_05]: I still remember like, we scored like three points in one game, and I think like Packer Rancher tweeted like, what if that was the good half?
- 1:44:54[SPEAKER_05]: Billy?
- 1:44:56[SPEAKER_03]: I guess I'm going to be the negative one.
- 1:44:58[SPEAKER_03]: I have Detroit winning thirty three to twenty seven fucking pieces shit.
- 1:45:02[SPEAKER_03]: I Dan Campbell just seems to have Matt LaFlor's number.
- 1:45:06[SPEAKER_03]: We've lost six of the last seven to Detroit.
- 1:45:09[SPEAKER_03]: We haven't beaten Detroit in Lambo since twenty twenty one.
- 1:45:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's been a lot of turnover on the coaching staff and Detroit, but there's still a lot of studs on both sides of the ball.
- 1:45:22[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, Dan Campbell, being aggressive, going forward on fourth ground, fourth down, like, is this new offensive coordinator going to pull out some trick plays?
- 1:45:32[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it just always feels like when we play Detroit there,
- 1:45:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's almost like playing that desperate team that's trying to get into the playoffs.
- 1:45:39[SPEAKER_03]: They're pulling out all the stops.
- 1:45:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's how it feels like it is to play Detroit even if it's week one.
- 1:45:47[SPEAKER_05]: I still always go back to that lion's game.
- 1:45:50[SPEAKER_05]: It was the start of all of this when they were reeling.
- 1:45:52[SPEAKER_05]: They were terrible.
- 1:45:53[SPEAKER_05]: They just fired their defensive back coach.
- 1:45:55[SPEAKER_05]: We brought them on to help self scout.
- 1:45:57[SPEAKER_05]: And then we fell apart in the second half and ever since then, the lines have been the lines.
- 1:46:01[SPEAKER_05]: That was the second half of twenty twenty two.
- 1:46:03[SPEAKER_05]: And we just they've had our number ever since.
- 1:46:06[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, bold predictions for this game.
- 1:46:09[SPEAKER_05]: I will go first.
- 1:46:10[SPEAKER_05]: My bold prediction is Matthew Golden will have over one hundred yards receiving and a touchdown.
- 1:46:15[SPEAKER_05]: You know, if you, if you had this ticket at home this bet that Billy Houghton would be, uh, mentioned twice in this episode, you can cash him because Jesus Christ.
- 1:46:26[SPEAKER_05]: I couldn't believe it when Billy brought his name up earlier this episode.
- 1:46:30[SPEAKER_05]: Um, he, I, so I, I had a, you know, I googled it or
- 1:46:36[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, there has been a rookie wide out for the Packers who had a hundred yards in his first game that was Billy Houten in nineteen fifty two.
- 1:46:45[SPEAKER_05]: He had a hundred twenty three yards in his NFL debut against the New York Yanks on September twenty eighth nineteen fifty two catching three passes including a eighty yard touchdown.
- 1:46:55[SPEAKER_05]: So I have Matthew Golden being the first hundred yard rookie receiver in his first game breaking a hundred yards.
- 1:47:02[SPEAKER_03]: What position did Mickey Manel play for the Yanks that day?
- 1:47:05[SPEAKER_05]: That's a great question.
- 1:47:06[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 1:47:10[SPEAKER_05]: They were the yanks.
- 1:47:11[SPEAKER_05]: Not the Yankees.
- 1:47:11[SPEAKER_05]: That's like all birds.
- 1:47:12[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 1:47:13[SPEAKER_05]: Duluth.
- 1:47:14[SPEAKER_05]: Duluth had a team.
- 1:47:15[SPEAKER_05]: Got it.
- 1:47:15[SPEAKER_05]: Some of the old names are like, when you go to the Pro Football Hall, they have a list of like, you know, all the games ever played me.
- 1:47:22[SPEAKER_05]: Like, it's some of the names like, what the hell is this?
- 1:47:24[SPEAKER_05]: So, was it the Duluth Eskamos?
- 1:47:27[SPEAKER_05]: That sounds correct.
- 1:47:29[SPEAKER_05]: But yes, a lot of goofy ones out there.
- 1:47:31[SPEAKER_05]: Billy, what is your bold prediction?
- 1:47:34[SPEAKER_03]: I have Micah Parsons having a splash in his green bay debut with two sacks and a forest fumble.
- 1:47:40[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, that's good.
- 1:47:42[SPEAKER_05]: I like that I can glide you through in the forest fumble because I was going to say two sacks might not be bold enough, but I think that is Todd, what is your bold prediction?
- 1:47:50[SPEAKER_07]: I had another Matthew golden when I had Matthew golden with seven catches on the day, which feels like a lot for Rookie in their first game.
- 1:47:58[SPEAKER_03]: No, we don't know how many did Billy Houghton have that day in three years.
- 1:48:03[SPEAKER_03]: New York only had three because everyone was wearing like three catches for a hundred.
- 1:48:07[SPEAKER_05]: Everyone was wearing leather shoes and no helmets.
- 1:48:10[SPEAKER_05]: So it was it was a different game.
- 1:48:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I suppose that's bold enough.
- 1:48:15[SPEAKER_05]: Seven eight.
- 1:48:16[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see.
- 1:48:17[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see how close it gets him.
- 1:48:18[SPEAKER_05]: Then I can yell at you next week if it happens.
- 1:48:22[SPEAKER_07]: I like it.
- 1:48:23[SPEAKER_07]: I like it for me.
- 1:48:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that makes sense for why he picked it.
- 1:48:28[SPEAKER_07]: Does anybody feel like Dan Campbell is just like hurts inside that Sam Laporta is just tight end when he played tight end and he was the opposite of Sam Laporta.
- 1:48:38[SPEAKER_05]: No, I don't I think he probably loves him.
- 1:48:40[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I would assume they have some type of like seven borders kind of a candy ass and Dan Campbell.
- 1:48:45[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know if you guys know Dan Campbell not again.
- 1:48:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, but he's he's probably he got the ball like four times.
- 1:48:51[SPEAKER_05]: I was going to say it was a completely different tight end roll back then, but he's
- 1:48:56[SPEAKER_05]: Dan Campbell is best of both worlds two cuz he's also the one coach I've seen in the league cry more than anyone else like he cries multiple times a year so Sam I don't think he can get up if he's getting on Sam I'm gonna be like hey you you fucking little bitch you keep crying like every time we lose so don't get on me cuz I can't go to that Dan Campbell would crush him like a mug
- 1:49:18[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe probably at least with this chin.
- 1:49:20[SPEAKER_05]: He is a huge chin.
- 1:49:21[SPEAKER_07]: That might be the most impressive thing about Would you is there anybody you take in a fight over Dan Campbell not named Ravel?
- 1:49:29[SPEAKER_07]: I was gonna save Ravel That's gonna not name me.
- 1:49:32[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I would take would you take him over?
- 1:49:34[SPEAKER_05]: That's an I would I would I think variable Ravel still more top heavy
- 1:49:39[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like.
- 1:49:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:49:41[SPEAKER_05]: But you know, you can't gamble.
- 1:49:42[SPEAKER_05]: We don't have the reach though.
- 1:49:43[SPEAKER_05]: He's probably got longer arms.
- 1:49:45[SPEAKER_05]: And that's probably six five.
- 1:49:47[SPEAKER_05]: We need to move on.
- 1:49:48[SPEAKER_05]: This is the longest episode we've ever had.
- 1:49:50[SPEAKER_05]: If you have been listening this long.
- 1:49:51[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.
- 1:49:52[SPEAKER_05]: This is not what I usually say, but hey, everyone's for your part.
- 1:49:55[SPEAKER_05]: If you could please leave a five star rating on Spotify or Apple.
- 1:49:58[SPEAKER_05]: That would be great.
- 1:49:58[SPEAKER_05]: You can leave a review.
- 1:50:01[SPEAKER_05]: Apple, iTunes, whatever the hell it is.
- 1:50:03[SPEAKER_05]: I'll leave a review screen shot at send it to us at pmp podcasts at gmail.com or at pmp.on Twitter and we will send you a free koozy.
- 1:50:09[SPEAKER_05]: If you comment or whatever, if you just want a fucking koozy, just email me.
- 1:50:11[SPEAKER_05]: I will send you one.
- 1:50:13[SPEAKER_05]: You can comment on Spotify.
- 1:50:14[SPEAKER_05]: We have no reviews, no comments this week, which is fine.
- 1:50:17[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, you know, we're starting off this season.
- 1:50:19[SPEAKER_05]: If you want to tell a friend to listen to the stupid podcast, that would be great too.
- 1:50:23[SPEAKER_05]: Um, that's about it.
- 1:50:26[SPEAKER_05]: If you are new here, we are saying goodbye to Billy.
- 1:50:28[SPEAKER_05]: He is not turning once again into by week Billy and off season Billy.
- 1:50:32[SPEAKER_05]: We will see him week five and then we won't see him again until the season is over.
- 1:50:38[SPEAKER_05]: Um, because I just have too much to say is so we can't have three people on the stupid podcast or I'm just going to talk over them even more than I already do.
- 1:50:44[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, without Billy, do you have any parting words?
- 1:50:51[SPEAKER_03]: Just looking forward to a good season and we'll talk to you in week five.
- 1:50:55[SPEAKER_07]: Wow, okay.
- 1:50:56[SPEAKER_07]: There you go.
- 1:50:56[SPEAKER_07]: Well said Todd Billy got anything else.
- 1:50:59[SPEAKER_07]: Do you think of Sean McVay and Matt LaFluer versus Dan Cannell?
- 1:51:04[SPEAKER_05]: I think I think Campbell would three stages grabbed me by the head and clicked the skulls together and
- 1:51:10[SPEAKER_05]: That would be okay.
- 1:51:11[SPEAKER_07]: I now add in a cavernal kind of mic no mic from my Daniel mic because they were all in that coaching staff together.
- 1:51:21[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe if they're on each other and Shanna had four people are all on each other's shoulders in the trench coat then maybe they'd have a chance.
- 1:51:29[SPEAKER_07]: That's about it.
- 1:51:30[SPEAKER_07]: Not all of them can be.
- 1:51:31[SPEAKER_07]: He just bite their knee for the one.
- 1:51:33[SPEAKER_07]: Aaron Glenn would probably be a good choice too actually.
- 1:51:36[SPEAKER_07]: He seems like a tough son of a bitch as well.
- 1:51:38[SPEAKER_07]: How about Dan Quinn Dan Campbell battle the dance?
- 1:51:41[SPEAKER_07]: He's not a head coach right now.
- 1:51:43[SPEAKER_03]: What about Andy Reed versus Dan Campbell?
- 1:51:46[SPEAKER_07]: Wait, yeah, Dan, isn't Dan Quinn in?
- 1:51:50[SPEAKER_07]: He, Miami?
- 1:51:51[SPEAKER_07]: They're not Miami.
- 1:51:52[SPEAKER_07]: Washington?
- 1:51:52[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, yes, he is.
- 1:51:53[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, he has a head coach right now.
- 1:51:55[SPEAKER_07]: So Dan, the Dan off.
- 1:51:56[SPEAKER_07]: We could have a Dan off.
- 1:51:59[SPEAKER_07]: Just like the Super Bowl.
- 1:52:00[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, with that you guys have anything else?
