- 1:06But I miss the way the night sounds back on the coast of Dancing with the lights out, burning the toast
- 1:14Yeah, I miss a lot of things, but I miss you the most Yeah, I tried, tried, tried
- 1:22How do I drive from the passenger side? I've been holding on tight to a telephone line

- 2:16What it feels like
- 2:21Give me your dream, baby, what about mine? Tell me I'm yours, wonder what it feels like
- 2:31How do I drive from the passenger side? I've been holding on tight to a telephone line
- 2:39Give me your dream, baby, what about mine? Tell me I'm yours, wonder what it feels like
- 2:47How do I drive from the passenger side? I've been holding on tight to a telephone line
- 2:55Yeah, it's a great day. It's nice and hot and warm
- 3:13Yeah, I'm really excited. I missed the last one, so I'm looking forward to it
- 3:19Yeah, I didn't watch it, remember? I was boycotting it
- 3:28Yeah, I was, yeah
- 3:33Yeah, I didn't like what happened with the migrants, so I just decided not to watch it
- 3:39Did you feel like you missed out, James, at all?
- 3:43I think I missed out on the final, because the final was meant to be really good. It was 3-0, so I think I might have just seen a couple of penalties here and there on social media by mistake, but I didn't actually watch it
- 3:54James, tell me, who won the last World Cup?
- 3:57Argentina beat France
- 3:59They beat France?
- 4:01Yeah
- 4:02No, I can't remember that final at all. I can't remember it at all
- 4:08But have you traditionally enjoyed World Cups?
- 4:12Yeah, I do, Rod, I do. I watched a bit of the 1938 World Cup and collected football coins for that
- 4:21And 2002 was when I properly watched it
- 4:27So I didn't really watch the matches in 1938. 2002 was the first proper one I watched when England drew a Sweden opening game and then with Argentina they won
- 4:37I get you, I get you. I think 1982 was the first one I remember. I think 1982 was in Spain, I think it was, because Northern Ireland, I think, made the 1982 World Cup
- 4:53I'm going to just look that up, actually
- 4:59But it was actually, yep, it was Santiago Bernabeu, it was in Madrid, and it was won then by West Germany, or actually it was won by Italy, who defeated West Germany in 3-1
- 5:15You're a football fan, but would you say you get more excited for big tournaments like the World Cup than normal?
- 5:22Yeah, I like the Euros, but I like international football. I've always, same for rugby and football, I gravitate more to international
- 5:32Do you? And do you watch all the games, even regardless of the time zones they're in, for example?
- 5:41No, well, I religiously try to watch as much as I can, but if they're all at 11-12 it's a bit late, so I don't think I'll watch
- 5:52Ok, well, this one, of course, is in America, and it's in Mexico, what's the other countries in?
- 6:02Mexico, America, and Canada, they're all 3-0s, so Mexico, normally the hosts kick off the tournament, so Mexico will start against Africa
- 6:11Right, ok, that's the first one, and of course with the time zones, it's a bit weird actually, James, isn't it, because some of the games will be at reasonable times, and some of the games will be at 3 in the morning
- 6:24Yeah, some of them, but I've heard most of the good ones are still on evening-ish, I think they negotiate with the broadcasters
- 6:32Right, ok, so we were out today in Ulti, and trying to get a sense of, is there a World Cup fever out there?
- 6:42I think it's a bit low-key at the moment, I don't think, I feel like at the moment it's, yeah, I feel like at the moment, it could be more hyped
- 6:53This is what I'm thinking, I'm quite surprised, it is quite low-key at the moment, it's almost like, they call it the greatest football competition in the world, right, they often hype it up, I think at the moment it is very, very subdued
- 7:12It is a little bit, isn't it?
- 7:15It's extremely subdued
- 7:18Yeah, I don't think people are that bothered by it, I think you're right, we've had the FA Cup, Champions League, Pat leaving Man City after 10 years, Slot got sacked, there's just so much that has happened, right, maybe that's why
- 7:33Yeah, possibly, here's the thing, when we think of the World Cup, you think of big international stars, right, but you also do think about music, don't you?
- 7:47Yeah, we do, yeah, I think there's a lot going on, isn't there?
- 7:53Do you have a favourite World Cup song, James?
- 7:57I like the Shakira Waka Waka part
- 8:00I knew you were going to say that
- 8:04That's our first one, today on FIFA Street, we're talking World Cup, we're finding out is there a World Cup fever, we're playing some World Cup songs as well, and it's the good, the bad and the ugly, here is Shakira
- 8:19And this time for Africa, for the 2010 FIFA World Cup
- 8:23James, we'll play the package, we'll be back with you later, ok?
- 8:27Thank you, Rob
- 8:29Cheers
- 8:34Africa, Africa
- 8:36During it's all time, choosing your battle
- 8:40Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and back in the saddle
- 8:44You're on the front line, everyone's watching
- 8:48You know it's serious, we're getting closer, this isn't over
- 8:52The pressure's on, you feel it
- 8:55But you got it all, believe it
- 8:58When you fall, get up, oh, oh, when you fall, get up, eh, eh
- 9:04Cause this is Africa
- 9:11This time for Africa
- 9:29Listen to your God, this is our motto
- 9:33Your time to shine, don't wait in line, let's go for it
- 9:37People are raising their expectations
- 9:41Go on and beat them, this is your moment, no hesitation
- 9:45Today's your day, you feel it
- 9:48You pave the way, believe it
- 9:52You get down, get up, oh, oh, when you get down, get up, eh, eh
- 9:56This time for Africa
- 10:12This time for Africa
- 10:25This time for Africa
- 10:27This time for Africa
- 10:55Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
- 10:59This time for Africa
- 11:17This is the Late Late Lunch show with Rod Maxwell
- 11:21This time for Africa
- 11:22This is the Late Late Lunch show with Rod Maxwell
- 11:52This is the Late Late Lunch show with Rod Maxwell
- 12:22This is on TV and I have to say, I don't know if you've seen the Times, but the Times are shocking
- 12:26Yeah, they're literally, most of them are at 12 at night, 2 in the morning
- 12:29Most of them are, they're probably negotiating with the country
- 12:33It's just, they're out actually 9, 10 o'clock at night
- 12:35So it's, for example, two of England's games at 9 o'clock, one's at 10 o'clock
- 12:38So the first two games, the Saturday, so the Wednesday the 17th when they kick off next week
- 12:42A week on Wednesdays against Croatia at 9 o'clock
- 12:44They kick off, then they're on, Saturday night on a Tuesday at 9 o'clock against Ghana
- 12:49And then they're on a Saturday night at 10pm against Panama
- 12:52The bars will love that though
- 12:54The bar trade, the bar trade will love it
- 12:56And actually, and also people won't need to take days off work
- 13:00Apart from if they're a bit hungover the next day
- 13:03It's the perfect, it's the perfect kick off time
- 13:06You know that a lot of people will be taking the day off if they want to watch the 12 o'clock or two if they're not getting enough sleep
- 13:10There's too many people calling in ill
- 13:12Possibly, possibly, but anyway
- 13:14Anyway, it's, I wonder if the world is being gripped by this World Cup
- 13:19Or international events are overshadowing it
- 13:22What do you think?
- 13:24I think that it's not as got as much hype as it normally would
- 13:26Because of these, because it's not a European World Cup
- 13:28And it's also the times are, as I said, quite late
- 13:31Because some of them are like 11, 12, midnight, 2 in the morning
- 13:33So some people will be asleep by about 9, 10 anyway
- 13:36So the times are not so great
- 13:38But I think that there isn't as much hype about it as there normally is
- 13:41What do you think?
- 13:43Well I don't think there is
- 13:45And actually I think that could be to England's benefit
- 13:47Because I think we always overhype the England team and their chances
- 13:52And people are expecting them to get to the quarters or the semis at the very least
- 13:57And I just think the whole lower tenure of the thing
- 14:01Just might suit England, tootles England
- 14:05And you want England to win right?
- 14:07Of course
- 14:09You're the honorary Englishman Rod
- 14:11I live in the country for one
- 14:13And all my family are half and half maybe
- 14:16But definitely, definitely want England to win
- 14:18Always have done
- 14:20That's good, that's good, we're happy about that
- 14:22We do, we're just double checking
- 14:24On behalf of the English nation are you saying?
- 14:26Suppose you get a salty Irishman that'll be like
- 14:28Oh I don't want England to win
- 14:30That's normally Scotland or Wales that don't want England to win
- 14:32You do though, that comes from a good heart
- 14:34I'm not a salty Irishman
- 14:36You're a loving Irishman who wants England to win
- 14:40I'm a man of the world
- 14:42Anyway, but the question is
- 14:44It doesn't feel as hyped up at the moment
- 14:47And I guess the question today is
- 14:49Are the people of Altea excited?
- 14:52Are they confident?
- 14:54Are they over expecting?
- 14:56What do you think?
- 14:58This is the question today
- 15:00And lastly, are you excited about the World Cup?
- 15:02Do you know, I'm not sure I am
- 15:04I think it's suddenly arrived
- 15:07And I don't know what it is
- 15:09But the hype hasn't been there yet
- 15:11You know, I'm not
- 15:13I don't know exactly when the matches are
- 15:15I'm not as hyped about it
- 15:17But it might be that
- 15:19With the amount of football on TV anyway
- 15:20It's just overly footballed out at the moment
- 15:22I've actually missed the Premier League
- 15:24And also, I actually
- 15:26Well, the 2022 World Cup four years ago
- 15:29I didn't watch any of it
- 15:31Because I was boycotting it for
- 15:33You know, Iran, women's rights
- 15:35And for Qatar, like the way they treated people
- 15:37With the stadiums being built
- 15:39So I didn't watch any of it
- 15:41So considering I've not watched the World Cup
- 15:43For eight years since 2018
- 15:45I think I am excited
- 15:47There you go, you're excited
- 15:48I'm going to ask a few people on the street
- 15:50Okay, let's do that
- 15:52So good afternoon madam
- 15:54On a few from the street today
- 15:56We're asking people
- 15:58Are they excited about the World Cup
- 16:00And now, you've told me off air
- 16:02That you're not really a football fan
- 16:04You're not that excited
- 16:06No, I won't really be watching
- 16:08Do you watch football generally?
- 16:10I watch Man U
- 16:12You watch Man U
- 16:14Some people would say you don't watch football
- 16:16I watch Man U too
- 16:18Yes
- 16:20Now, as somebody who comes from there
- 16:22Would you typically support Ireland
- 16:24And then you support England second
- 16:26If you like
- 16:28What we need is Jack Troughton
- 16:30Don't we?
- 16:32Absolutely, yes
- 16:34Alright, well thanks very much indeed
- 16:36Enjoy your summer
- 16:38There you go, a few from the street
- 16:40Today is all about the World Cup 2026
- 16:42It kicks off on Thursday
- 16:44Is Altrincham excited?
- 16:46Are you excited?
- 16:48We're getting there
- 16:50I think we're getting there
- 16:52This is one that always gets you going
- 16:54This is the England football team
- 16:56From Euro 96
- 16:58In three lines
- 17:19Everyone seems to know the score
- 17:23They've seen it all before
- 17:27They just know
- 17:29They're so sure
- 17:31That England's gonna throw it away
- 17:35Gonna throw it away
- 17:37But I know they won't play
- 17:39Cos I remember
- 17:41Three nights on the show
- 17:44Jules Vermeer is still gleaming
- 17:48The tears are first
- 17:51Never stop between him
- 17:56So many jokes
- 17:58So many sneers
- 18:01But all those
- 18:03Are so near
- 18:05When you're down
- 18:07Through the years
- 18:09But I still see
- 18:10That tackle by Moore
- 18:12And when Linneken scored
- 18:14Bobby felt in the fall
- 18:16And nobody doubts
- 18:18Three nights on the show
- 18:21Jules Vermeer is still gleaming
- 18:25The tears are first
- 18:28Never stop between him
- 18:40It's an extra, it's an extra time
- 18:431-0
- 18:45Go on, mate
- 18:47Good old England
- 18:49England have played football
- 18:51England have put it in the bag
- 18:53Nobody's back
- 18:55But it could be again
- 18:59It's coming home
- 19:01It's coming home
- 19:03Football's coming home
- 19:05It's coming home
- 19:07It's coming home
- 19:09England have put it in the bag
- 19:11It's coming home
- 19:13It's coming home
- 19:15It's coming
- 19:17Football's coming home
- 19:19It's coming home
- 19:21It's coming home
- 19:23It's coming
- 19:25Football's coming home
- 19:27It's coming
- 19:29Three nights on the show
- 19:31Jules Vermeer is still gleaming
- 19:35First he hits a bird
- 19:38It's coming
- 19:40There's a stormy dream
- 19:42It's coming
- 19:44Three nights on the show
- 19:46It's coming
- 19:48Jules Vermeer is still gleaming
- 19:50It's coming
- 19:52First he hits a bird
- 19:54It's coming
- 19:56There's a stormy dream
- 19:58It's coming
- 20:00Three nights on the show
- 20:02It's coming
- 20:05I wonder if they've done a 60 Years Of Hurt version of that song
- 20:09That's the England football team, Skinner, Baddiel and the Lightning Seeds and the Three Lions
- 20:17England coming home to the Euro 1996
- 20:21Today we're talking World Cup
- 20:23We're finding out if there's World Cup fever amongst the people of Ultragham on Fusin Street
- 20:28We'll be back straight after this
- 20:30Hello everyone, I'm Woody and I've just launched my new radio show here on Radio Ultra

- 20:47So please tune in as you definitely won't want to miss out
- 20:59You can also listen on the app 24-7
- 21:02Celebrating 6 years of broadcasting, this is Radio Ultra
- 21:08Good afternoon sir, today on Fusin Street we're talking about the World Cup
- 21:12Is it something you're excited about?
- 21:14Not really that much, no I'm not to be fair
- 21:17Are you a football fan?
- 21:19I am a football fan, yeah
- 21:21And do you normally look forward to these things?
- 21:23If Ireland are in it, yeah
- 21:24Oh I see, I see
- 21:26But there's something for me, the hype's not there this year, what do you think it is?
- 21:31I just think it's a general, there's a downbeat feeling about everything at the moment
- 21:36Yeah just generally in the world
- 21:38We've got a rise in unemployment, we've got the increase in AI
- 21:43Yeah I just think it's not the greatest time for everybody at the moment
- 21:47Do you think also that we might be footballed out?
- 21:49I mean are you a football fan?
- 21:51I am, I'm a Manchester City fan
- 21:53To be fair VAR hasn't helped this season has it?
- 21:56No, but it does feel like because we get so much football, Champions League and all that
- 22:01Maybe the World Cup is not quite as special
- 22:04Because it used to be the only time you got to see these huge names on telly
- 22:08I honestly think with social media and people have become more educated
- 22:13They're kind of seeing what it is sometimes, football
- 22:15Well the green and the white and the gold of Ireland's not going to be there
- 22:18And that always brings a bit of romance
- 22:20But will you be supporting England instead?
- 22:22I'll be supporting England, yeah
- 22:24And what do you think the chances are?
- 22:26They're never great are they?
- 22:28Do you know what I mean?
- 22:30They're not, but we'll just have to wait and see
- 22:32Do you think Tuchel might have a different approach?
- 22:35Because he's not English obviously
- 22:37He might not be het up and the same emotion as some other English manager
- 22:41It's his first trial isn't it really to be fair
- 22:44But he's made a couple of brave choices you would say
- 22:47Who else has left?
- 22:49Cole Palmer's not there
- 22:50And even Andy McGuire as a City fan
- 22:52Do you know what I mean?
- 22:54He's helpful in certain situations isn't he?
- 22:57Definitely for getting a late goal and that
- 22:59Well I'll tell you what, the time's quite good for going to the pub isn't it?
- 23:03Yeah it will be
- 23:05So good afternoon guys, I'm really interested in the view from the street
- 23:08We're asking people if they're watching the World Cup
- 23:10If they're excited for the World Cup
- 23:12If they're cheering on England and who do you think is going to win?
- 23:15So let's start with you two okay?
- 23:17So do you like your football?
- 23:18Yeah I love it, it's my favourite sport going
- 23:21I watch it all the time
- 23:23Are you sure now?
- 23:25Genuinely, all the time
- 23:27And will you be watching the World Cup?
- 23:29Yes I will, every match
- 23:31Even the night time ones?
- 23:33Even the night time ones
- 23:35And are you excited about it then?
- 23:37I am so excited
- 23:39Why?
- 23:41Because it brings everyone together and I just love celebrating with everyone, it's great
- 23:44Okay and what do you think are England's chances?
- 23:46I think it's 5 out of 10, 50-50
- 23:50I'm hoping they win, whether they do or not is a different story
- 23:53You're not very confident
- 23:55Let's ask these lads here
- 23:57So boys, are you looking forward to the World Cup?
- 23:59Yeah very
- 24:01Which was the first World Cup that you saw?
- 24:04Was it last year?
- 24:06The last one I watched
- 24:08Oh the Russia?
- 24:10So do you like the World Cup?
- 24:12Yeah
- 24:14You're all England fans aren't you?
- 24:16Who do you support in your EPL team?
- 24:19Man City
- 24:21United
- 24:23So what do you think are England's chances at this tournament?
- 24:30Well I'd like to say high but I don't think so
- 24:32Why not?
- 24:34Because I think there's better teams that are going to win
- 24:36You're not thinking because he's left out Foden and Bellingham are you?
- 24:39No, not because of that but I just don't think so
- 24:42You think there's better teams?
- 24:43Yeah
- 24:45But is it always the case that the best team of players wins or is it the best team that comes together?
- 24:52I think the only issue this year is the squad
- 24:55I think it was better
- 24:57Just missed out a few players if I were to put it personally
- 25:01So a prediction then for England?
- 25:03I think they'll make it to quarter-finals and then maybe semis but I don't think they'll make it to the final
- 25:08Who's winning it then?
- 25:10Either France or Spain
- 25:1110% Spain's winning
- 25:13You know what, I actually have this sneaking feeling
- 25:16Because it's been a bit more low-key this year and Tuchel isn't a hyper big personality person
- 25:24It might just be a bit more low-key and if they get Harry playing I think England's got a chance
- 25:31I think they have
- 25:33I'm actually always positive about England even though I'm Northern Irish
- 25:36I'd say semis at most
- 25:38Semis
- 25:39Okay
- 25:41Any dark horse for the tournament?
- 25:45I can't remember what the country's called
- 25:48Croatia
- 25:50I wish there was that much of a dark horse
- 25:52I can't remember what the team is, Venezuela I think
- 25:55I don't know what the scores are going to be for that England-Croatia game
- 25:59Are they going to win it or is it going to be a draw?
- 26:01I reckon it'll be 1-0 England
- 26:03I think
- 26:05Thank you so much
- 26:07Thank you guys
