- 2:15Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation, Candice holy Field, Thank you so much
- 2:21Speaker 1: for having me. I am preper honored to be here
- 2:23Speaker 1: and I appreciate you so so much. Well, I thank
- 2:26Speaker 1: you for appreciating me. First of all, you're an entrepreneur
- 2:29Speaker 1: and you're part of the uh the fastest division of
- 2:33Speaker 1: growth women Black women as entrepreneurs in America. Why in
- 2:40Speaker 1: the world of entrepreneurship. You know, we've seen how especially
- 2:44Speaker 1: black women have been you know, the matriarchs of the
- 2:46Speaker 1: families stay home, you know, take care of the kids.
- 2:50Speaker 1: The husbands work, go out and do the work. What
- 2:52Speaker 1: is your mindset, Kansas, that makes you an entrepreneur? Um?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Gets my mind. I'm gonna tell anybody I am an
- 3:01Speaker 1: entrepreneur because I want a freedom. You know, I want
- 3:03Speaker 1: my time. I want to be able to do what
- 3:05Speaker 1: I want to do when I get ready. Um. So
- 3:08Speaker 1: that's why I am on entrepreneur. I know everybody has
- 3:10Speaker 1: a you know, reason why they do what they do.
- 3:13Speaker 1: But for me, I just you know, I really wanted
- 3:16Speaker 1: my freedom. I worked the job for years and I
- 3:18Speaker 1: couldn't do what I wanted to do, whether it was
- 3:21Speaker 1: time or financial. But now that I have been an
- 3:24Speaker 1: entrepreneur for the last ten years, I'm pretty much made
- 3:28Speaker 1: a place where I can do what I want to do.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And that's the most you know things that I love
- 3:34Speaker 1: the most of that being entrepreneur. So why is that
- 3:36Speaker 1: important because you're ninety five. You get vacation page, you
- 3:39Speaker 1: get sick days page, you get a potential for one k.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You know, the steady week, that's pretty much guaranteed if
- 3:46Speaker 1: you're a stable place of employment every week bi weekly
- 3:50Speaker 1: payments of weekly payments. That sounds so good to go
- 3:55Speaker 1: out there and be an entrepreneur there. There's no certain
- 3:59Speaker 1: things out there, So what is inspiring you? What is
- 4:02Speaker 1: what is forcing you on enabling you to walk past
- 4:05Speaker 1: all that insert uncertainty. So I am a spot professional.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I was a license the stage therapy for years and
- 4:13Speaker 1: you know I worked the job. I worked for a
- 4:16Speaker 1: spar company, um and I had to clock any out
- 4:20Speaker 1: you know, if Kanyen wasn't on the book, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 1: I had to sit there at the job and not
- 4:26Speaker 1: get paid. So I got I got paid based off
- 4:30Speaker 1: how many people I took in the day. My income
- 4:34Speaker 1: was not Gary feed as a spot professional because we
- 4:37Speaker 1: get paid totally different, So we get paid per person
- 4:41Speaker 1: that we actually took. So if nobody was on the books.
- 4:44Speaker 1: We wasn't get bad. So you've always been an entrepreneur
- 4:48Speaker 1: in a sense. Then I actually was a waitress to
- 4:51Speaker 1: about thirteen years. Uh and different case. You don't know
- 4:55Speaker 1: anything about you know, being a waitress as long as
- 4:57Speaker 1: you worked there at the more levels you have to
- 4:59Speaker 1: kind of do you wanted to do. So I need
- 5:02Speaker 1: to get years. But you know I made the sign
- 5:05Speaker 1: amount of money every single month, Like I knew how
- 5:07Speaker 1: much I learned about how much money. How you knew
- 5:10Speaker 1: to peak with kids, and you know the days and
- 5:13Speaker 1: the shifts that were strong and and you know. But
- 5:16Speaker 1: but that's but that's just knowing information. But that doesn't
- 5:19Speaker 1: mean that's information that's going to change your life. And
- 5:22Speaker 1: so being entrepreneur, if you were, you know, you learned
- 5:25Speaker 1: the peak times, you know, the type of customers, the
- 5:28Speaker 1: places to go. So so you were licensed, but that
- 5:33Speaker 1: doesn't mean that's because you know, I haven't had massages
- 5:36Speaker 1: in my life. My daughter was with a professional tennis player,
- 5:39Speaker 1: so we have to have massage. We go to massage
- 5:42Speaker 1: therapists for her and sometimes we'd invite them by the
- 5:45Speaker 1: home depending on she had a match schedule. So but
- 5:48Speaker 1: to still step out there on your own though, in
- 5:51Speaker 1: the industry, black industry, because black people are interesting when
- 5:54Speaker 1: it comes to to what we do with you, which
- 5:57Speaker 1: seems like a norm when it comes to the white
- 5:59Speaker 1: white people. And I just say it like this. You know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: white people, they vacation differently, they take care of their
- 6:05Speaker 1: bodies differently. They they massages or foot feed, pedicures and manicures.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So what made you feel that you can open the
- 6:17Speaker 1: door to black people in this small industry and to
- 6:22Speaker 1: be successful based on your vision Believe it or not.
- 6:27Speaker 1: When I start get into these a lot of my
- 6:29Speaker 1: clients were occasions and me going into first of all,
- 6:35Speaker 1: believe it or not, I believe it, Okay. That's why
- 6:37Speaker 1: it's made that big speech before I talked to I'm
- 6:40Speaker 1: not chocking a by black people. I go to smalls
- 6:42Speaker 1: enough to know black people not sitting in a lobby waiting, Okay.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I'm I'm one of whatever or whoever came in there
- 6:48Speaker 1: with me, okay, So so I will not be shocked.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And that's why I'm just saying, this is a very
- 6:54Speaker 1: You see a market out there, but it's not responsive
- 6:57Speaker 1: based on the client lists that you have, and so
- 7:00Speaker 1: I just want to let you know. That is one
- 7:02Speaker 1: of the reasons I brought you on the show, which
- 7:04Speaker 1: to show people that don't you can't go to go
- 7:07Speaker 1: against the norm and be successful or the perception and
- 7:10Speaker 1: be successful. And that's what you're accomplishing in the in
- 7:14Speaker 1: this in the smart industry as an African American woman.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You can continue now that you know Shan understands that.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Believe it or not, Thank you. That was I love it.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I love it. Uh, And what happened? You know? I
- 7:29Speaker 1: thought always having all these called caves and clients, and
- 7:32Speaker 1: it just done it on me, like, hey, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 1: this is not something that we are doing. So I
- 7:37Speaker 1: always tell everybody I made mac gage cool for black people. Um.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I got on Facebook first, I got on you know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: the Instagram, and I just made like a really big
- 7:48Speaker 1: deal to come and get these Macaba. My strategy with
- 7:51Speaker 1: spot parties and these spot parties for years, I thought
- 7:54Speaker 1: it are doing kids spy party, so every little black
- 7:58Speaker 1: kid in our whole city of myths, why from him,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I prow a massage and be a little facial for
- 8:03Speaker 1: all of them. Um. And of course as I was
- 8:05Speaker 1: doing the kids, the adults was like, I want to
- 8:07Speaker 1: facial and I want to masside. And so that's how
- 8:10Speaker 1: my beds and turned into an ad brain because I
- 8:12Speaker 1: really was doing kids in the beginning, and I just
- 8:15Speaker 1: made it cool. And at that time, ten years ago,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I didn't even understand marketing, but I knew the power
- 8:22Speaker 1: of just showing up. So I showed up on Facebook
- 8:24Speaker 1: every day, I showed up on Instagram, you know once
- 8:26Speaker 1: he came about every day and people just always saw me.
- 8:31Speaker 1: And when I first got my uh, when I first
- 8:33Speaker 1: went to massage school, everybody asked me, why do I
- 8:35Speaker 1: want to do massage? Everybody telling me that I was
- 8:38Speaker 1: not going to make any money as a massage therapy.
- 8:41Speaker 1: And I'm so glad now you know, I protty been wrong.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So I just made a massage super cool and I
- 8:47Speaker 1: showed up all over the place promoting my brain, who
- 8:50Speaker 1: I was and what I did. And now everybody I
- 8:54Speaker 1: know black, you know, love the spot and hit my
- 8:57Speaker 1: side is and facials like all the time. It's part
- 8:59Speaker 1: of while you know, marketing, we all need uh wow,
- 9:05Speaker 1: you know that you're know the interesting thing that I like.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I was talking to the owner of the sluggy Vegan
- 9:09Speaker 1: Pinky and you know, now she's opening up several locations
- 9:13Speaker 1: during the pandemic, you know, and this is these are
- 9:16Speaker 1: vegan change, vegan restaurants that she's just called the Slutty Vegan.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And a lot of people told her that, well, girl,
- 9:23Speaker 1: that name is gonna stop you. Girl. Don't not enough
- 9:26Speaker 1: people don't know who eat that. I know, people don't
- 9:29Speaker 1: eat that. Nobody Atlanta gonna eat all that. And now
- 9:31Speaker 1: she got several slutty Vegan vegan location and people are
- 9:35Speaker 1: standing in line at several locations. So and I asked her,
- 9:40Speaker 1: you know about overcoming negative spirits, and so the same
- 9:45Speaker 1: thing with you, you know, because you have to sleep
- 9:47Speaker 1: at home, and sometimes you're the only person that looks
- 9:49Speaker 1: in the mirror in the morning and you look back
- 9:51Speaker 1: and sometimes you have to answer the question that you
- 9:54Speaker 1: that you're asking yourself looking at yourself, how do you
- 9:57Speaker 1: how did you overcome that? You know who who who
- 10:00Speaker 1: stepped in and like put their arm around you, we
- 10:03Speaker 1: can do this? Or was it just you, um in
- 10:07Speaker 1: the beginning, it was just you know myself, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 1: in the beginning, even you know, my family, it was
- 10:12Speaker 1: I didn't think nothing was gonna happen. So it was
- 10:15Speaker 1: just myself in the beginning. You know, I was away
- 10:17Speaker 1: Tress and I was like, I just I gotta do
- 10:19Speaker 1: something different. UM. So it was just me and then
- 10:22Speaker 1: me moving to Atlanta, my first wing towards the Brina.
- 10:25Speaker 1: She was the owner of the glam University or UM
- 10:28Speaker 1: in Atlanta. I massaged her, I went to her event
- 10:31Speaker 1: in death went game just changed for me in Atlanta
- 10:35Speaker 1: and death when I started the process to become a
- 10:38Speaker 1: millionaire um and Dad was back in two gasans between.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But she was the very first person the game University
- 10:44Speaker 1: on Antigram who just I don't know, like she just
- 10:47Speaker 1: woke up something in me and I just started seeing things,
- 10:50Speaker 1: you know, for myself for my business that I just
- 10:52Speaker 1: never made and before. And that was my practice too,
- 10:56Speaker 1: owning a seven figure brand back in two thtands between
- 10:58Speaker 1: you when I made her now two thousand and fifteen,
- 11:01Speaker 1: we're in two thousand t women pandemic, don't touch nobody
- 11:05Speaker 1: wearing a mask, shutdown, shut down black people overtly affected
- 11:11Speaker 1: by the COVID dateen virus, no vaccine insight. What is
- 11:16Speaker 1: running through your my old law your faith to being tested,
- 11:19Speaker 1: your religion being tested? What did you what were you
- 11:22Speaker 1: thinking in March when all this is going down Kandice.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So actually in March, UM, I don't want to say
- 11:29Speaker 1: I heard a nervy breakdown. I don't want to speak
- 11:31Speaker 1: that over myself. But I had about three days when
- 11:33Speaker 1: I was here. I couldn't think de straight. I was crying.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I was just like, what's going on? So I had
- 11:40Speaker 1: about a three day meltdown. Um. And after all three days,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I got myself together and I was like, hey, you
- 11:45Speaker 1: know my bus and books go on, you know, I
- 11:47Speaker 1: see about my business. Um. So basically we went heavy
- 11:51Speaker 1: heavy or retail. We're just doing really really heavy on retail.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Of you know, we started feeling hand sentitize and we
- 11:57Speaker 1: started feeling bad. We would say at home, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: facial kids. We just weren't really really heavy on education,
- 12:05Speaker 1: really really heavy on the retail. Even people who were
- 12:07Speaker 1: never really on Intima and Facebook and all these platforms before,
- 12:12Speaker 1: you know, they flooded to those platforms because you know,
- 12:15Speaker 1: it's it's an audience there. Um. And we just went
- 12:18Speaker 1: crazy heavy on education. Um. And of course we took
- 12:21Speaker 1: a lot of classes, you know, lose centercation classes, you know,
- 12:24Speaker 1: let our clients know, treat your clients in recent clip.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Let don't know, Hey, we are making sure we are
- 12:30Speaker 1: taking the ITTU procoty for whenever we do open back up, UM,
- 12:34Speaker 1: to make sure your safety is a priority. And of
- 12:37Speaker 1: course you know our safety as well. So I did
- 12:40Speaker 1: a full class for my football trial. I owned a
- 12:43Speaker 1: law these African Americans by proficial community in the world,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and I did a whole toil still class for everybody
- 12:49Speaker 1: to show them what to do during the pandemic and
- 12:51Speaker 1: what to do active party. And I am so honored
- 12:54Speaker 1: that so many people are still in business right now
- 12:57Speaker 1: to this day, UM, and we are surviving this. So
- 13:00Speaker 1: this is a you know, a really big deal of
- 13:02Speaker 1: the powers. So so first of all, this is what
- 13:04Speaker 1: I love about you. So my business is basically touching people.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So I pivoted. I had to pivot and so and
- 13:12Speaker 1: doing that the mask, you know, which is a visionary move.
- 13:16Speaker 1: The hand sanitizers, which is another visionary move, because guess what,
- 13:20Speaker 1: COVID nineteen is not going anywhere. It's not So mask
- 13:24Speaker 1: is going to be part of our life, our lives,
- 13:26Speaker 1: even if they get a virus vaccine, it's still gonna
- 13:29Speaker 1: be where I'm still going to do well in a mask,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, and so because that because I am an
- 13:35Speaker 1: African American, I am naming four percent of people who
- 13:38Speaker 1: died from COVID nineteen or people who've already had presidixtin illnesses.
- 13:43Speaker 1: So that lets you know that you know when you're
- 13:46Speaker 1: you're certain age group, or you're an asthmatic or high
- 13:49Speaker 1: blood pressure or stuff Aurey's clock, daughters you or cancer,
- 13:55Speaker 1: there's a lot of illnesses that sickle sale that it
- 13:58Speaker 1: allows you to understand and that we have to be
- 14:01Speaker 1: aware of what's going on. And so, like I said,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you overcame that. Now we snapped you out of that
- 14:06Speaker 1: that little three day funk. I'm gonna call the three
- 14:08Speaker 1: day funk you know when you felt sorry for yourself.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I ain't gonna call a nervous break there, because we
- 14:12Speaker 1: all have those moments, Kansas, you know where everything's going
- 14:16Speaker 1: good and and you and you and you know you
- 14:18Speaker 1: you got ready for you wasn't ready for. You know,
- 14:20Speaker 1: here's like you saw a common canvas, but you didn't
- 14:24Speaker 1: want to playing for because it was too much thought
- 14:27Speaker 1: into it. And that's what that's the part that you
- 14:29Speaker 1: slapped yourself on the back. Go snap out of this stupid,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you can do this. I actually we'll snapped me out
- 14:38Speaker 1: of it. Um, I tho, I'll beat him on on Instagram.
- 14:42Speaker 1: And she was, you know, heavily marketing her lifty and
- 14:46Speaker 1: heavily marketing her book, you know. And she showed up
- 14:50Speaker 1: every day showing people, be tilling people about the book,
- 14:53Speaker 1: you know, the time any people about the lifty. And
- 14:56Speaker 1: I just thought to myself, like, you know, I gotta
- 14:58Speaker 1: continue to around my just no batter what um so
- 15:02Speaker 1: me just seen her those three days continued to show up.
- 15:06Speaker 1: That gat me out my phone and I was like,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I have to run my beading. And so you know,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I just changed my whole mindset. I took the time
- 15:13Speaker 1: and say, hey, you know what can I see an offer?
- 15:16Speaker 1: How can I see a bit of value? Um? And
- 15:19Speaker 1: all of the things that I can't rely was a
- 15:20Speaker 1: mask to hand Serkizer. I came up with those things
- 15:24Speaker 1: and caning back to the marketplace like nothing hadn't happened
- 15:27Speaker 1: before we could walk into hand Senersizer. And we know
- 15:31Speaker 1: the thing about it. You know, I've seen every photo
- 15:33Speaker 1: I've seen them. You're smiling, You're looking like you're enjoying life.
- 15:36Speaker 1: So to tell me. I really got you know, it
- 15:39Speaker 1: really traumatized me when this COVID thing popped up. I
- 15:43Speaker 1: just don't imagine. I can't imagine your smile. What did
- 15:46Speaker 1: your smile? I go? What did that energy go? I'm turning.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I lost two hundred dollars UM. I used to do
- 15:52Speaker 1: China trips before COVID, so I would take people who
- 15:55Speaker 1: are building aside to China to we get direct vendor
- 15:59Speaker 1: to you know, having a spot is expensive startup, so
- 16:03Speaker 1: I used to take spot professionals to China to meet
- 16:05Speaker 1: the vendors. We had a really big trop plant. I
- 16:08Speaker 1: lost two hundred thousand dollars in at three APO. There's
- 16:10Speaker 1: another reason I was on the fall. Also owned a
- 16:13Speaker 1: thing with a truck and company. UM. But one of
- 16:15Speaker 1: my trucks that broke down, that was like another fourth
- 16:18Speaker 1: out of dollars to speak, So that was like a
- 16:20Speaker 1: two argy four, you know, it was a big loss
- 16:22Speaker 1: of three A. So I was there in a front
- 16:24Speaker 1: and then the COVID was here in the Floric United States,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and it was just like everything would be hit me
- 16:30Speaker 1: at one time, and I did. I had to give
- 16:32Speaker 1: myself together over the third day. It's finally here the
- 16:36Speaker 1: season of celebration, and no matter how you celebrate with
- 16:39Speaker 1: family and friends, whether you're preparing for reys, magos or

- 18:34Speaker 1: Let's go back to because we kind of got kind
- 18:36Speaker 1: of got started on convincing black people it's our right
- 18:40Speaker 1: to lay down and be touched and woke up. Feel good?
- 18:45Speaker 1: Now I will. How did you do it? How I
- 18:50Speaker 1: don't see them? Well? Where did you find these black people? Canvas?
- 18:54Speaker 1: I've never seen I've been I've been on cruise shift.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I have not seen black people show up. I've never
- 19:00Speaker 1: went in the spa and another black person was sitting
- 19:02Speaker 1: there the way. Why did you find out? They found me? Um?
- 19:09Speaker 1: I was hearing theres a thing too. When I moved
- 19:12Speaker 1: to Atlanta. You know, I targeted influences. I targeted you know,
- 19:16Speaker 1: feel everythingoping, so you know if they shout you out,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know the flood gates are going to open. So
- 19:21Speaker 1: that was one of my marketing truck. So all of
- 19:23Speaker 1: these people found to me m via Instagram in faithbook
- 19:28Speaker 1: with the Youth of Good, hastag good. Now, with that
- 19:31Speaker 1: being said, what is a good massage? Because I like
- 19:36Speaker 1: I'm telling I had that deep tissue massage love and
- 19:39Speaker 1: mercy that is so painful. I've made that mistake twice
- 19:43Speaker 1: in my life. I thought I could man up and
- 19:45Speaker 1: go through that. No, no, no, no no, that deep
- 19:47Speaker 1: tissue got something working on your job? So what is
- 19:51Speaker 1: what is a softy like me a whimp? They just
- 19:55Speaker 1: want to lay down and do a good massage, wake
- 19:58Speaker 1: up feeling good. You know? Am I the shape? So
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm not You're not gonna worry about no hamstring pools
- 20:04Speaker 1: or anything like that, or any muscles that it's gonna
- 20:07Speaker 1: fly out or my arm ain't gonna just fly back
- 20:09Speaker 1: and just slap you because you you touch of really
- 20:12Speaker 1: muscular moment in my arms. What's a good massage that kansas.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So when it comes to a good massade, it's really
- 20:19Speaker 1: not a good massade. It's a good therapist. It's a
- 20:22Speaker 1: good because a good massage therapist, like whoever it's doing
- 20:27Speaker 1: your massage, they need to be deal. So if you
- 20:29Speaker 1: come to me and I do the proper consultation and
- 20:32Speaker 1: you're telling me, hey, I had it, and even if
- 20:33Speaker 1: you had a depiction masside and you hated it, your
- 20:36Speaker 1: therapist should have asked you, hey, it's it's pressure. Okay.
- 20:39Speaker 1: So if you're in pain, you can ease up, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: because what you want. But I tell I tell most people, um,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you can get a relaxation massage, but you get it
- 20:48Speaker 1: with trigger points. So I definitely, I'm definitely going to
- 20:51Speaker 1: relax you. But let's just say your net can been
- 20:53Speaker 1: hurt before your shoulder has been hurt. I'm gonna put
- 20:56Speaker 1: a little bit more emphasis on those points. And it's
- 20:58Speaker 1: how the trigger point um to relieve the pain for you.
- 21:01Speaker 1: The majority of the massage is going to be relaxation,
- 21:04Speaker 1: so I am not hurting you. So you gotta make
- 21:06Speaker 1: sure you let your therapy no exactly what you want.
- 21:09Speaker 1: And any time during page, anybody who listens to you,
- 21:12Speaker 1: if you are in pain, make sure you let your
- 21:14Speaker 1: debts know because they will keep on going. Oh my
- 21:18Speaker 1: good oh my goodness. I'm would tell you something. I
- 21:22Speaker 1: made that mistake. I will not do a deep tissue.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I've tried it. I thought that was I don't know
- 21:27Speaker 1: what was running through my mind. Where you know, and
- 21:30Speaker 1: but first of all, wants the pain hits you, the
- 21:33Speaker 1: spark experiences over with far as I'm concerned. So you know,
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know, because like you said, it's therapy, you know,
- 21:39Speaker 1: if you're supposed to relax, and so that's like somebody
- 21:42Speaker 1: throwing cold water on you in bed. You're not gonna
- 21:45Speaker 1: go back to sleep. I don't care if you try.
- 21:47Speaker 1: You're not gonna go back to sleep. You're gonna be mad,
- 21:49Speaker 1: You're gonna be thinking about it. Is this person gonna
- 21:51Speaker 1: hurt me again? Or this person gonna throw more cold
- 21:53Speaker 1: water on me? They'll they're just standing over there, smiling.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They won't go join you in bed, go to sleep.
- 21:59Speaker 1: So same thing. When the person is a massage and me,
- 22:01Speaker 1: they might ease up, but all they're gonna hit me again.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Maybe they don't listen real well, that happened to me twice.
- 22:07Speaker 1: So that's the deep teaching massage. On the other hand,
- 22:10Speaker 1: I've learned the type of massages that have worked for
- 22:13Speaker 1: me and I've been very happy experiencing the massage is
- 22:16Speaker 1: now now as you what is the worst customer for
- 22:20Speaker 1: you to come in there? A grumpy person, a person
- 22:23Speaker 1: who is impatient person? Uh, what is the worst type
- 22:27Speaker 1: of person to give him massage? To? Um? The worst person?
- 22:32Speaker 1: Were part of the people who aren't happy anything, that's
- 22:35Speaker 1: the worst person. I myself. I tried myself on being
- 22:41Speaker 1: um professional. So you know for for us as a woman, UM,
- 22:45Speaker 1: you know that's how works. Not even there to get
- 22:47Speaker 1: a client. You know who's doing want those type of things.
- 22:50Speaker 1: You know they don't want to cover on them. You
- 22:52Speaker 1: know they want to be fully exposed. They wanted to
- 22:57Speaker 1: They got worried by you to tell me to take
- 22:59Speaker 1: clothes and you're can you take your clothes off? Sorry?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Can I just lower my my my underwear to the
- 23:04Speaker 1: top of my button. I I just can't do that
- 23:07Speaker 1: the whole new thing. I'm sorry, I ken't. You'd be like, look, huh,
- 23:13Speaker 1: I got horror stories. I have horror over and I'm
- 23:18Speaker 1: telling you I'm because of what you're saying that other
- 23:20Speaker 1: people over my seven year Um. You know career as
- 23:25Speaker 1: a massage therapy. So there's a lot of stories. But
- 23:28Speaker 1: that's that's the word client. To get these client of it,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you know, put us in an awkward situation. Absolutely, and
- 23:34Speaker 1: you have to hear there ain't enough money here. We
- 23:36Speaker 1: won't talk a moment. We have survived this moment. So
- 23:39Speaker 1: now let's talk about the second annual SPA Expot. What
- 23:43Speaker 1: exactly is a SPA Expot? Oh my god, So the
- 23:47Speaker 1: Spore Expo is so here, India. To my heart, I know,
- 23:51Speaker 1: I'm get founded for these over here. The Spot Expo
- 23:55Speaker 1: is the only black Spot expo in the world. It
- 23:58Speaker 1: used to be a two day event, but a court
- 23:59Speaker 1: is what we play. It's only a one day you've
- 24:01Speaker 1: been up year. We also have an online option. We
- 24:04Speaker 1: have over thirty yet speakers. Um, and it's another expo
- 24:08Speaker 1: in the world. But of course it's not you know
- 24:11Speaker 1: created by black people is not necessarily targed for us.
- 24:15Speaker 1: So if the expo is different things going on UM
- 24:18Speaker 1: at different times, so SPOT professions income, they can take
- 24:21Speaker 1: UM refresh of courses so like if somebody is a
- 24:23Speaker 1: massage there, they can go toward a new class. A
- 24:26Speaker 1: line had to better be a massage stays just on
- 24:29Speaker 1: the skill set level UM. Then we have growth building classes.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Hey you know about their life insurance. If you know
- 24:35Speaker 1: about UM finances, do you know about passive income? And
- 24:39Speaker 1: then we also heavy heavy focus on marketing because I
- 24:43Speaker 1: feel like everybody needs to know how to market your
- 24:45Speaker 1: bunything so you can get customers. So it's a lot
- 24:49Speaker 1: going on at one time, but it's so amazing and
- 24:51Speaker 1: when you did last year it is the same thing
- 24:54Speaker 1: here was gonna do well. So I am so on
- 24:56Speaker 1: there and excited for the start expot. It's for all
- 24:59Speaker 1: the black spot being health and wellness professionals. UM, it's
- 25:03Speaker 1: made by us, is yet for us, and it's from
- 25:06Speaker 1: our dvantage point, so we really can't understand how we
- 25:09Speaker 1: want our businesses. It's not just about going to schools.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Got have to be massage or facial. We need to
- 25:14Speaker 1: know the business part, and that's not being caught enough.
- 25:17Speaker 1: So we're heavily focusing on how to want the bees
- 25:20Speaker 1: and out of school, how to scale the bus and
- 25:22Speaker 1: pretty you know, a three hundred five hundred million dollars
- 25:27Speaker 1: business from here, heavily that hating on that that's the
- 25:31Speaker 1: only black expo in the world. Girl, you're doing it now.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Let's you know the thing about it. I like about
- 25:39Speaker 1: you first of all your personality. You know, it's even
- 25:42Speaker 1: killed even though you tell me, Shanna, I may put
- 25:44Speaker 1: in a situation I just could not believe in a
- 25:47Speaker 1: just so frustrated and mad when people compromise the integives
- 25:51Speaker 1: you of my business and look at me not as
- 25:53Speaker 1: a business person, but as an object. And you have
- 25:56Speaker 1: to deal with that because you're just trying to be
- 25:58Speaker 1: an entrepreneur and you're trying to be an entrepreneur in
- 26:01Speaker 1: a business that that that that that people will tell
- 26:05Speaker 1: you there's no market for, and that's being in the
- 26:08Speaker 1: black small business. Now, when did you feel that this
- 26:11Speaker 1: could work? You said, you know something, because we only
- 26:13Speaker 1: have those little moments we go, I think I'm owing something.
- 26:17Speaker 1: What is that? I think I'm owning something? Moment hit you?
- 26:21Speaker 1: Um that was when I got on Groupon. I you know,
- 26:24Speaker 1: a black spot own our forsilcy and I got one
- 26:27Speaker 1: group on. When I first reached out to Glupan, they
- 26:30Speaker 1: told me that they couldn't help me. There was nothing
- 26:32Speaker 1: for me at about okay um. And months later they
- 26:35Speaker 1: ended up calling me back saying, hey, we have an opening.
- 26:38Speaker 1: We want to feed you you um. And I got
- 26:40Speaker 1: a Groupon because I was just like, you know, small
- 26:43Speaker 1: time and at the time, and I got on there
- 26:46Speaker 1: and I want to say, I've ad like six thousand
- 26:48Speaker 1: dollars in two days. Was my first time making hit
- 26:50Speaker 1: type of money. They had to backing like maybe two
- 26:53Speaker 1: dollion leaving maybe two dollan and two years. Um. And
- 26:57Speaker 1: that's only hit medio. Like, hey, I'm onto something when
- 27:00Speaker 1: I made it six thousand in two days. That that's
- 27:03Speaker 1: what it was. You're rubbing on some people looking through
- 27:05Speaker 1: days when you your hands are working, you're doing like
- 27:09Speaker 1: what twelve hour shifts you could you had them? And
- 27:13Speaker 1: mean what groupon sales the gift card to your spot
- 27:16Speaker 1: so they they pay you before you ever do the
- 27:19Speaker 1: third girl. So you was getting that money that that
- 27:23Speaker 1: that that that they say mailbox money. You weren't even
- 27:26Speaker 1: working for that money yet not even well, now you
- 27:30Speaker 1: know have trained the roads at that then, Um, anything
- 27:34Speaker 1: you sold in a four day one day, you got
- 27:37Speaker 1: aid from our present of the upfront. So like my
- 27:39Speaker 1: first ship they ever made me was like six thousand
- 27:42Speaker 1: dollars UM. And that's when I was like, okay, I'm
- 27:46Speaker 1: warranted something here. That was my eye opening when I
- 27:49Speaker 1: got a groupon. That's that's that's impressive. So so can
- 27:53Speaker 1: you give us a date on now? I got a
- 27:55Speaker 1: news letter going out this Wednesday. I'd like to feature
- 27:58Speaker 1: your Spa Black Spa and second annual in there. Can
- 28:03Speaker 1: you send me some banners, some links so we can
- 28:06Speaker 1: get the world. I I'm not saying, you know you
- 28:08Speaker 1: gotta be you've been successful without Rashan McDonald's money. Make
- 28:12Speaker 1: a conversation, I'm saying, but that's why I built the franchise,
- 28:15Speaker 1: because I want to take entrepreneurs like you and realize
- 28:18Speaker 1: that you have a place. If you have something you
- 28:19Speaker 1: want to promote to come to Rashan. Just come to
- 28:23Speaker 1: Roshan for free. Now, I'm not I want to charge
- 28:26Speaker 1: people for this because I got the blessing. My blessing
- 28:28Speaker 1: is I'm talking to you My blessing is that I
- 28:30Speaker 1: wake up every day to have a conversation and realize
- 28:33Speaker 1: that I can make a difference in this world. And
- 28:35Speaker 1: when I talk to the individual like you, who have
- 28:38Speaker 1: who are who is redefining the game. Because I've been
- 28:42Speaker 1: in this business with Steve Harvey. We did a lot
- 28:45Speaker 1: of things together on radio, and the one thing that
- 28:47Speaker 1: always frustrated frustrated me was the perception of Black people
- 28:51Speaker 1: of what people think of us, you know, and it
- 28:54Speaker 1: plays on, yeah, in the social and the civil unrest
- 28:58Speaker 1: that we have out there, but they don't see us
- 29:00Speaker 1: in in technology. You know, we get no respect there.
- 29:04Speaker 1: We get no respect in the sciences. You know, we
- 29:07Speaker 1: get no you know, they feel that we're you know,
- 29:09Speaker 1: on the average, they're good black people and they're bad
- 29:12Speaker 1: Black people. You know that perception. And then when you
- 29:15Speaker 1: tell me about the spark industry, I joke and I said,
- 29:18Speaker 1: and I'm telling the absolute truth. But then if nobody
- 29:22Speaker 1: tries and makes an attempt to create that market and
- 29:25Speaker 1: has a value proposition that the market says we want
- 29:28Speaker 1: to be a part of, then it cannot happen. And
- 29:31Speaker 1: you've done that. Congratulations. I really wanted to say that
- 29:34Speaker 1: as part of my intro to you and telling you that, hey,
- 29:38Speaker 1: you are a winner and keep winning because of the
- 29:41Speaker 1: fact that you're doing something that was that people said.
- 29:44Speaker 1: You said, Richard, I was a waitress with thirteen years Okay,
- 29:47Speaker 1: I just got tiler knowing that on Thanksgiving them gonna
- 29:50Speaker 1: get this on New Year's even, gonna get this Valentine's Day.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna get this Easter week and get there. I
- 29:57Speaker 1: know the dates. I know him, I know. But you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: if if I know that, then guess what you know?
- 30:05Speaker 1: You know? Then you know it too, and you realize
- 30:07Speaker 1: that you know. So this is about it. This is
- 30:09Speaker 1: the top of the mountain for me. I'm gonna go
- 30:11Speaker 1: bet on myself. And you have bet on yourself, and
- 30:14Speaker 1: you're about to enter into your second and you and
- 30:16Speaker 1: the blessing is you're coming out of the COVID. They're
- 30:19Speaker 1: allowing you to do this. You won't have a breakdown
