- 0:25Speaker 1: hear from my man, Rashan McDonald money Making Conversations. That's right.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation is participated in the Four Heads College
- 0:33Speaker 1: Stream of Thon. The goal is for the Stream of
- 0:36Speaker 1: Throon to raise one million dollars for the college. Doing
- 0:39Speaker 1: these unusual pandemic times, we're trying to get the word
- 0:42Speaker 1: out naturally. Do you let people know about our event
- 0:44Speaker 1: which will happen December first, This is the Hype Show.
- 0:48Speaker 1: My Money Making Conversation show airs every Sunday from four
- 0:51Speaker 1: pm to six pm. As you know on w v
- 0:53Speaker 1: c D six point five and seven a m. We
- 0:56Speaker 1: are the hype machine and we've had a lot of
- 0:59Speaker 1: great thing's happened about this show to get the word out.
- 1:02Speaker 1: But December first is to date, and I have another guest,
- 1:05Speaker 1: another talented person who's coming on the air with me
- 1:09Speaker 1: to talk about thefore He's College Stream. I thought, my
- 1:12Speaker 1: neckcass is, I'm gonna say Reverend, so I gotta Reverend
- 1:16Speaker 1: Rachel Oliver cobbing like cobbing on the call. You know
- 1:24Speaker 1: from the Atlantic group Atlantic Star. She does fossover. She's
- 1:27Speaker 1: based in Vegas, but you know Atlantic Star, how old
- 1:29Speaker 1: hits always secret lover of sin for me, Circles, silver Shadow,
- 1:33Speaker 1: masterpieces anymore. But we're here to talk about her career,
- 1:36Speaker 1: what she's doing now, what she's done in the past.
- 1:39Speaker 1: But more importantly, she's here for the before He's college Stream.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I thought, please work on the show. My friend, Reverend
- 1:46Speaker 1: Rachel Oliver coming like coming on the car. So good
- 1:52Speaker 1: to be here. Thank you for having me. First of all,
- 1:55Speaker 1: how did you get to part I just become a
- 1:57Speaker 1: part of the whole process to be a part. First
- 1:59Speaker 1: of all, thank you of being a part of it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But just trying to connect the dots on the relationship. Well, listen,
- 2:05Speaker 1: my mother, the doctor, Donna h Oliver is the current
- 2:09Speaker 1: sitting provost at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida, and
- 2:14Speaker 1: from her whole career as I was growing up, she
- 2:16Speaker 1: was at Bennett College and many other hbc us. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: know the value of the h b c U in
- 2:23Speaker 1: our community, and we have to do what we must
- 2:26Speaker 1: do in order to preserve these institutions because my brother,
- 2:31Speaker 1: they have the ability to take those who have unlimited
- 2:37Speaker 1: potential and prowess and turned them into our leaders, our
- 2:41Speaker 1: doctors and so forth and so on. So we can
- 2:44Speaker 1: do great things through HBCUs. And that's why I'm a
- 2:47Speaker 1: part of it. You see, I got on my board.
- 2:48Speaker 1: He's blue today, right, you see me. I can see
- 2:50Speaker 1: you for show. But you know when that when you
- 2:52Speaker 1: came on, you had these really a motivational a lot
- 2:55Speaker 1: of statements or against words behind you family, love, smile,
- 2:59Speaker 1: marriage and or laughter. Uh. It's important that it's going
- 3:02Speaker 1: to be seen during these uh doing the telephone people
- 3:05Speaker 1: gonna because we're recording this and also will be on
- 3:08Speaker 1: the radio, but more important to be dropped on my platform,
- 3:11Speaker 1: our YouTube platform money main conversations and their platform with
- 3:14Speaker 1: YouTube tell us why those those descriptions of those words
- 3:17Speaker 1: have value in your life? And we all should adhere
- 3:19Speaker 1: to them in some way. That's exactly right. Life has
- 3:23Speaker 1: lived much better and much more fully and abundantly when
- 3:28Speaker 1: we believe in the foundation of Christ and then the family. Yes,
- 3:32Speaker 1: God put us here to procreate and fill the earth
- 3:35Speaker 1: with praise for Him. And so when we do that
- 3:38Speaker 1: through laughter, through loving one another in marriage and respecting
- 3:41Speaker 1: each other, and just giving our friendly brother smile, you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: just give a smile to somebody whatever. You're out in
- 3:47Speaker 1: the streets and people can see you smile with your
- 3:50Speaker 1: eyes were smising right now with this COVID situation, right,
- 3:53Speaker 1: you know this is I'm about to say, you know
- 3:55Speaker 1: you said that smile, but with this mask. It's really
- 3:58Speaker 1: because I'm a person I've I do say hello to people.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I say hello, and I try to be uplifting about me,
- 4:04Speaker 1: about myself and about people around me. I don't want
- 4:06Speaker 1: to discourage anybody by my personal talking, personal problems. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: don't try to invite that in somebody else's life. But
- 4:12Speaker 1: with the COVID you have this mask. Some people have
- 4:14Speaker 1: the shields, but I wear a mask, so you can't
- 4:17Speaker 1: ever see my smile. I think, I think I have
- 4:18Speaker 1: a great smile. You have a great smile. Every every
- 4:20Speaker 1: person has a great smile. So how do you think
- 4:23Speaker 1: that is the hoes the COVID affected you your in Vegas.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Every state has a different level of quarantine and restrictions.
- 4:29Speaker 1: What restrictions have it impacted in your business? I know
- 4:32Speaker 1: you do a lot of voice over work, but but
- 4:34Speaker 1: a lot of careers and my career is importantly has
- 4:37Speaker 1: been tied to live activation, live events, going to going
- 4:41Speaker 1: to restaurants, going to concerts, going to live events. How
- 4:45Speaker 1: does it affected your career is coming? Well? You know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: I just want to say that I've been in constant
- 4:49Speaker 1: prayer for all my brothers and sisters because, as you said,
- 4:52Speaker 1: my brother, everybody is affected differently by this. And in
- 4:55Speaker 1: the state of Nevada, our governor of Governor Select shout
- 4:58Speaker 1: out to him. He's been very pro active and keeping
- 5:01Speaker 1: us safe. In fact, we're into two point oh, it's
- 5:03Speaker 1: the next phase of quarantining and taking the opportunity to
- 5:07Speaker 1: keep each other well. And so I've been very fortunate,
- 5:11Speaker 1: even as I do work in my ministry at church,
- 5:14Speaker 1: to still be able to serve and get the good
- 5:17Speaker 1: news out there as a psalmist. I've been able to
- 5:19Speaker 1: continue with ministry and song at church and in the
- 5:22Speaker 1: entertainment business. By the grace of the wonderful, legendary iconic
- 5:28Speaker 1: bub A Knight of Lattus Knight and the Pits, I
- 5:30Speaker 1: was able to go in and record his latest project
- 5:34Speaker 1: called thank You for the Love, and that song he
- 5:38Speaker 1: wrote in tribute to those frontline workers, doctors, nurses, everybody
- 5:43Speaker 1: who's out there on the battlefield keeping life going for
- 5:46Speaker 1: us during this pandemic. And it's an honor to have
- 5:49Speaker 1: been well. I replaced his sister Gladys because Gladys is physics.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You know. She was a battling Patty. That's what I'm sorry.
- 6:01Speaker 1: She's bad little Patty right. Good for me, right, And
- 6:05Speaker 1: I've been able to step in those shoes, and I'm
- 6:08Speaker 1: just honored to work with the legendary Mr Bob Night
- 6:11Speaker 1: and make his song come to life again. It's called
- 6:13Speaker 1: thank You for the Love and it's on all digital
- 6:15Speaker 1: platforms right now. Well, I want my honored to have
- 6:17Speaker 1: you on the show, because it stated more this is
- 6:20Speaker 1: Verhees College stream of thon It Happens December first, were
- 6:23Speaker 1: like the hype show, getting the word out, letting people
- 6:25Speaker 1: know that how important our goal is to raise one
- 6:28Speaker 1: million dollars and you say that very correctly early the
- 6:31Speaker 1: value of HBCUs. Now, you know when you came to
- 6:33Speaker 1: our world, you know, Lantic Star, you know you, I
- 6:37Speaker 1: think the fourth lead singer, female lead singer that came
- 6:39Speaker 1: into the group. So with that being said, how did
- 6:42Speaker 1: that impact your life? And now that was you know,
- 6:45Speaker 1: that was now your reverend. You know he was over
- 6:47Speaker 1: there in the party lane and you know always secret
- 6:51Speaker 1: love circle. How did that? How? I mean, how did
- 7:00Speaker 1: from a very early age when I began singing, I
- 7:04Speaker 1: knew that God had his hand on me. And it's
- 7:07Speaker 1: finally here the season of celebration. And no matter how
- 7:11Speaker 1: you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for
- 7:14Speaker 1: Reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going to
- 7:18Speaker 1: midnight mass, Coals has just what you need to make
- 7:21Speaker 1: those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts for all your

- 7:41Speaker 1: and under Armour, and in the spirit of giving, Coals

- 9:03Speaker 1: E r dot Ai. I knew that he had something
- 9:05Speaker 1: special for me to do, so I ain't always been
- 9:08Speaker 1: a same glory that guy, but he has been good
- 9:11Speaker 1: to me, never left my side, and even in my
- 9:13Speaker 1: time with Atlantic Star. First of all, let me just
- 9:16Speaker 1: give a shout out to Wayne, Jonathan and David of
- 9:18Speaker 1: Atlantic Star, the brothers that picked me to be a
- 9:21Speaker 1: girl number before they were just family Christian people, and
- 9:26Speaker 1: so it was there was nothing but God that led
- 9:29Speaker 1: me to a group that had a foundation as strong
- 9:31Speaker 1: as theirs. And believe it or not, now both myself
- 9:34Speaker 1: and David are ministers, and right David, David left the
- 9:37Speaker 1: group right there, follow his calling, right man, It's just
- 9:40Speaker 1: that you cannot share of two masters. I hadn't come
- 9:42Speaker 1: to that place in my life and I didn't see
- 9:45Speaker 1: why I couldn't not serve two masters but be used
- 9:48Speaker 1: in the vineyard, on the battlefield out there in the
- 9:52Speaker 1: secular world. So I didn't have a problem with that
- 9:54Speaker 1: at that time. So I didn't call me to, like
- 9:57Speaker 1: about twelve years later, to actually preach the gospel. But
- 10:00Speaker 1: let me tell you a funny story. On the road,
- 10:02Speaker 1: I used to run into different women that they would
- 10:04Speaker 1: always say to me, Rachel, Rachel, especially in Asia, what
- 10:07Speaker 1: does your secret? What what drug do you take? And
- 10:09Speaker 1: I would say, girl, is Jesus you wanted? I can
- 10:12Speaker 1: tell you about it? And you would just go off.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Running has always been my strength. It's always been where
- 10:18Speaker 1: I knew my gifts came from. And I had to
- 10:21Speaker 1: just tell everybody even then in Atlantic Star about the
- 10:24Speaker 1: good news of Jesus, so he used me even there.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That's it's as a powerful statement, I think. Did I
- 10:29Speaker 1: say that because of the fact that during this period
- 10:31Speaker 1: of COVID and a team, we know how it's affected
- 10:33Speaker 1: African Americans. You know how it's affected people of color
- 10:36Speaker 1: and people who have had preconditions, uh illnesses, people over
- 10:40Speaker 1: sixty five. How to affect your family and your lifestyle
- 10:43Speaker 1: other than being because you wasn't in that about it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: We talked about that, but your whole perspective about this
- 10:48Speaker 1: year with civil unrest and all that as we close
- 10:51Speaker 1: it out and during this stream of thought for for
- 10:56Speaker 1: Borhese College, you know, HBCUs are all the more at
- 11:00Speaker 1: because in this political unrest that we've seen during COVID nineteen,
- 11:04Speaker 1: we need to continue to educate our children on their
- 11:07Speaker 1: history and their culture. America loves our culture, Unfortunately, it
- 11:12Speaker 1: doesn't love us as individuals, and so we have to
- 11:15Speaker 1: continue to build one another up. And education and faith
- 11:19Speaker 1: are the two most positive ways for our Black community
- 11:23Speaker 1: to do that. You know, my family is heavily rooted
- 11:26Speaker 1: in h b c U s. I didn't attend an HBCU,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but it wasn't because I didn't want to. I wanted
- 11:31Speaker 1: to be as Felma Knite, but at that time I
- 11:32Speaker 1: would have had to go to Clark Brown for the
- 11:34Speaker 1: majority of my Clark curses um and so I just
- 11:37Speaker 1: ended up in another school. However, it was you and
- 11:40Speaker 1: c Greensborre right there at ANC right and Borgese College
- 11:43Speaker 1: has a special place in my life too. Let me
- 11:45Speaker 1: say this real quick. When I was competing for Miss
- 11:48Speaker 1: Black America, which I was Miss Black American nineteen eighty six,
- 11:51Speaker 1: the young lady who won my talent competition the year
- 11:55Speaker 1: I was crowned, was a student at none other thing
- 11:59Speaker 1: before He's College. She was amazingly gifted and talented, beautiful, intelligent.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And you know that's the kind of student that Borhes
- 12:08Speaker 1: College produces, wonderful women and incredible men. And that's why
- 12:13Speaker 1: even through COVID, we got to come up with this
- 12:15Speaker 1: one billion dollars to support the mission and vision of
- 12:19Speaker 1: Borhes College and all HBCUs and to keep the black
- 12:23Speaker 1: family grounded and rooted even through a pandemic. Wow, could
- 12:27Speaker 1: I close out on that? Rachel now your articulation because
- 12:31Speaker 1: we just to say that is that you know everybody
- 12:34Speaker 1: who's coming on the show, Joe, Marie Payton, Don Lewis, Bacari, Sellers,
- 12:39Speaker 1: Shery Coley Cooley from our Timax. You know, yes, yes,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but Bill soon come on. And I'm sorry, I I
- 12:55Speaker 1: can't even stay with you vocally. I am a former
- 12:58Speaker 1: comedian and so I may it sounds good and make
- 13:00Speaker 1: it sound funny, but I can't make it sound like
- 13:03Speaker 1: it should be song on the record. But that song
- 13:05Speaker 1: is universally, but you know, put your universal before we go.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I want to talk about you doing some Volsover work.
- 13:12Speaker 1: We mentioned that off air, I want to just talk
- 13:14Speaker 1: about what you're doing. You know, you know if you're
- 13:16Speaker 1: not you know, atlantic start just part of your career.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Everybody has a resume, part of your resume. You know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you're preaching the gospel, which is fantastic. You know you
- 13:25Speaker 1: you just told us about the song you're doing with
- 13:27Speaker 1: Bubba Night, but also what the voss over work you're
- 13:29Speaker 1: doing right now. That's keeping you busy as well well,
- 13:32Speaker 1: the vos of the work I'm doing right now because
- 13:34Speaker 1: of everything being shut down, Thank God, my church keeps
- 13:37Speaker 1: me working. I'm actually working in the ministry there to
- 13:42Speaker 1: do voice over work for all our different commercials and
- 13:44Speaker 1: you know some things that we have put out. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: touted my my pastor's book that he has out right now.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm unplugged, and so I just keep busy through the
- 13:53Speaker 1: church because you know what I'm really doing, I'm keeping
- 13:56Speaker 1: two teenagers happy and I'm keeping them focused on the
- 13:59Speaker 1: future because I don't want our young people to get
- 14:02Speaker 1: bogged down and what's going on around them. See, you
- 14:04Speaker 1: can't live life looking at your circumstances but looking towards
- 14:08Speaker 1: your future because circumstances changed. Right, My brother who holds
- 14:12Speaker 1: our future. And so that's really what I'm concentrating on,
- 14:15Speaker 1: keeping my kids happy, and I'm making some new gospel
- 14:20Speaker 1: music in the middle of producing my own gospel album
- 14:23Speaker 1: while I'm sitting here at home and just writing songs
- 14:25Speaker 1: and having a good turn where you look fantastic, fantastic.
- 14:28Speaker 1: The vor He's blue on and I want you to
- 14:31Speaker 1: you so articularly close it out while we're doing this.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Stream of thought for Vohees is December first, closing the
- 14:38Speaker 1: Reverend Rachel Oliver Cobbon cobbon like coing on the cobbon.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Do you think you coman Listen everybody, we are really
- 14:46Speaker 1: making a plea to you to come on through. Get
- 14:49Speaker 1: out le wallet, get on your text message. I'm sure
- 14:52Speaker 1: they're going to provide many ways for you to be
- 14:54Speaker 1: able to string that money into them on December one,
- 14:58Speaker 1: so let's hear it for Borhes College staying alive because
- 15:01Speaker 1: of you at your commitment. God bless you all, and
- 15:04Speaker 1: God bless you my brother, Thank you, and again December first,
- 15:07Speaker 1: stream of thon for Hees College. Stream of thon. We're
- 15:10Speaker 1: trying to get one million dollars and it starts by
- 15:12Speaker 1: you giving one dollar that's all. We're asking for one dollar.
- 15:14Speaker 1: If you've got more than one dollar, it just makes
- 15:16Speaker 1: a smile a little bit more. But if you start
- 15:18Speaker 1: with one dollar, then guess what. We'll go to two
- 15:21Speaker 1: dollars and three dollars and we'll get to that one
- 15:23Speaker 1: million dollars. It's for a good cause for He's located
- 15:26Speaker 1: in Denmark, South Carolina. Fantastic School, home of my bar
- 15:30Speaker 1: Bacary Sellers. Again, thank you for coming on the show. Rachel.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Please we must do this more in the future. One
- 15:37Speaker 1: we should see each other again and it shouldn't be
- 15:39Speaker 1: tied to a stream of thon. You have a brilliant
- 15:41Speaker 1: personality and an outstanding career. Thank you for coming on
- 15:44Speaker 1: the show money making conversations. Thank you. In this season
- 15:50Speaker 1: of giving, Cools has gifts for all your loved ones.
- 15:53Speaker 1: For those who like to keep it cozy, find fleeces, sweaters, loungeware,
- 15:57Speaker 1: blankets and throws, or support my Noority owned or founded
- 16:01Speaker 1: brands by giving gifts from Human Nation and Shame Moisture
