- 0:00The B -Side and Boxing. B -Side shit. B -Side.
- 0:04B -Side. And the B -Side. You got a B -Side.
- 0:06The B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. The B
- 0:10-Side thing. This is the B -Sides Boxing Podcast.
- 0:20Alright. Boxing B -Sides. It's just a two -piece.
- 0:27We are without our biscuit. Saul, how goes it,
- 0:31my man? It's going fantastic. Today, while we're
- 0:36recording, it's 420. So I know a lot of the people
- 0:38that are in the boxing community are lighting
- 0:41it up. It's going to be a light week, so they're
- 0:45going to be lighting it up. It is a light week.
- 0:49Find your pleasures where you can get them. Exactly.
- 0:54Have a nice day. Just chill. Maybe if you don't
- 1:01get fast food very often, this might be a good
- 1:04time to do it. Smoke a little bit. Maybe make
- 1:08the rounds, right? Because you want to get McDonald's
- 1:13fries because those are the best. And then maybe
- 1:17you want to check out Whataburger if you have
- 1:20that in your area for the burger. Or In -N -Out
- 1:25is fine, too. Yeah, we stand in and out over
- 1:31here. I'm sorry. I was about to throw a fucking
- 1:33fit over that. Well, we have both here where
- 1:37I'm at in Phoenix. And the problem is, it's not
- 1:43that in and out isn't good. It's that here, the
- 1:47lines are fucking ridiculous. Really? Yes. They're
- 1:51really, really long. And that is what makes it
- 1:56not worth it to me. Even though the food is good.
- 1:59It really is. But like, Whataburger and the lines
- 2:03are... The lines in Whataburger are quicker.
- 2:06The... Whataburger has different stuff on the
- 2:11menu. Where In -N -Out is a little bit more...
- 2:15You know... It's a simpler menu. So that's really
- 2:21it. What would you prefer, Leo? Burger for burger?
- 2:26Burger for burger. I'm probably going In -N -Out.
- 2:31I respect that. But if we're talking about just
- 2:37Whataburger versus In -N -Out, I'm going with
- 2:40Whataburger for fries. I cannot stand In -N -Out
- 2:46fries. They're fucking awful. I understand. I
- 2:50personally love In -N -Out fries. They're not
- 2:53for everyone. They're not for me. Yeah, to a
- 2:56certain extent. Because I like them how they're
- 2:57fresh, but I also don't like how unseasoned they
- 2:59are. Right. So I get salt and pepper. But to
- 3:04your earlier comment about McDonald's, too, I
- 3:06just had an epiphany the other day. It was almost
- 3:08like a religious awakening. What was that? Because
- 3:12before, I always, I always, like in boxing, I'm
- 3:17always a fan of the underdog story, especially
- 3:19with fast food. I eat some interesting choices.
- 3:23I like to partake in. Arby's from time to time,
- 3:27as well as Wienerschnitzel. And a couple years
- 3:31ago, all I had from this establishment was a
- 3:34chicken sandwich, and I liked it a lot. But this
- 3:38past week, I had a Burger King Whopper and fries.
- 3:46Interesting. Is this like a new sampling? Like
- 3:49you've never had one before? I haven't had one
- 3:52in over 10 years. Goodness gracious. And I'm
- 3:57going to say a really controversial thing, but
- 3:58I genuinely feel as if Burger King, at least
- 4:02the location I went to, maybe this is very biased
- 4:04because I know it might vary from location to
- 4:06location, but the location I went to for Burger
- 4:09King knocked it out the park. I genuinely feel
- 4:12as if Burger King is the best national fast food
- 4:16chain for burgers and fries. I'm not saying fast
- 4:21food in general. There's regional champions,
- 4:26but nationwide, to me, nationwide, the Whopper
- 4:31is the best burger you can get. I would say.
- 4:37Very tasty. Jack in the Box is technically not
- 4:40nationwide. Not anymore. McDonald's is nationwide.
- 4:45Technically, Carl's Jr. is nationwide. I think
- 4:49they go by Hardee's in different places. Yeah,
- 4:52they go by Hardee's on the East Coast, I believe.
- 4:55And then, what's another fast food burger? Wendy's,
- 5:02technically, right? I think Wendy's is nationwide,
- 5:04yeah. Wendy's on the East Coast, yeah, nationwide.
- 5:08Wendy's fucking downhill. By the way, best bang
- 5:12for your buck is Burger King. My opinion. That's
- 5:17the only thing I'll agree with Benjamin Netanyahu
- 5:19on. About Burger King? Unfortunately, he enjoyed
- 5:22it. Yeah, that guy loves Burger King for some
- 5:25reason. All right. Well. I guess I heard it on
- 5:29the Nook podcast. Well, I wasn't listening to
- 5:31it, but I just saw it on a meme that he likes
- 5:33Burger King, so. Well. Big, big BB. Big BB Netanyahu.
- 5:39Broken clocks, I guess. Man, well, that's the
- 5:48420 talk. That's a little bit of fast food rankings.
- 5:52I would say, if you get the chance, Whataburger
- 5:57fries are fucking elite. I would say, I would
- 6:03put them in a comparable tier. Like, it's a close
- 6:07second to McDonald's. As far as fries go. So
- 6:14if you're in the area where you have access to
- 6:17one. I'll tell you this, my man. My opinion on
- 6:23fast food fries is weird. I genuinely think that
- 6:25Del Taco fries, I don't know if anybody else
- 6:28in the world knows what Del Taco is. They're
- 6:29not terrible. They get a bad rep. Yeah, Del Taco's
- 6:33fucking, like, their fries are amazing, dude.
- 6:35I'm personally a cream cut fan. I love cream
- 6:37cut fries. I've never heard of that. Yeah, that's
- 6:43a little interesting. I think Whataburger fries
- 6:47are crinkle as well or no? They're not crinkle,
- 6:52no. Oh, you said crinkle. I thought you said
- 6:57something else. I completely fucking biffed that
- 7:00one. No, you're good. We're just hungry now.
- 7:07uh let's get into some news here um nothing on
- 7:11the mma front but ultimate effing casuals for
- 7:15all your mma needs uh let's get the not so fun
- 7:20stuff out of the way the boxing survey I'm still
- 7:24interested to hear. We're getting close to 20
- 7:27respondents, and I'm not going to stop until
- 7:31I get fucking like 100 at least. BXNG .co slash
- 7:36survey. What do you think about the titles? How
- 7:40do you rate them individually, like five -star?
- 7:46What do you think about WBC, WBO, etc.? How do
- 7:49you rank them against each other? Like, which
- 7:52do you consider to be most prestigious? Or which
- 7:55do you consider most corrupt, even? All of these
- 8:00questions are laid out in the survey, so I'm
- 8:02interested to hear what you have to say. bxng
- 8:05.co slash survey And, last not -so -fun bit,
- 8:10the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act.
- 8:14We have still not heard, we have not seen this
- 8:18come to a vote in the Senate. I expect that there's
- 8:22going to be, they're going to hear arguments
- 8:25when it does come to a vote. Go to lvxmedia .net
- 8:31slash bsides. And when you go there, at the very
- 8:34top, there's a link that you can use to find
- 8:37the contact information for your senators. And
- 8:41I also include a blurb. On the page where. If
- 8:47you're not sure what to say. You can use my blurb.
- 8:51If you think you. If you want to take pieces
- 8:53out of it. Or you want to add stuff to it. Like
- 8:56whatever. Whatever it takes to get you in the
- 8:58fight. We cannot. Let Dana get away with this
- 9:03shit. We can't. He's going to UFC our boxing.
- 9:08And I'm not going to fucking let that happen.
- 9:10Not if there's anything I can do about it. Yeah,
- 9:15whether you believe it or not, you have a voice.
- 9:18Let it be heard. Yeah. As a boxing fan, we don't
- 9:21get much pull in this game. But this is the one
- 9:25time where you can actually save the sport. You
- 9:28can do something here. You really can. I know.
- 9:32I am casually acquainted with my senior senator.
- 9:38Mark Kelly, the former astronaut dude, I'm casually
- 9:42acquainted with the man. The junior senator,
- 9:46Ruben Gallego, I know this. I know him. I know
- 9:51for a fact because I've talked to them extensively
- 9:53on separate occasions, but nonetheless, user,
- 9:59like, not user, fuck, constituent letters, emails,
- 10:05and phone calls. I assure you that your senators
- 10:10listen to those things. Even if it's just like
- 10:13their staffer taking notes and delivering it
- 10:16to them. Nonetheless, they are going to hear
- 10:19that you have a problem with the Ali American
- 10:22Boxing Revival Act. And because you're voicing
- 10:26your opinion on such a really specific piece
- 10:30of legislation. It's going to carry some weight.
- 10:34You know what I mean? You're not just calling
- 10:35and saying, the fucking roads suck in Phoenix.
- 10:39Right. Yes, they pay attention to it, but that
- 10:43isn't an actionable item quite as much as saying,
- 10:49the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Rival Act, it
- 10:53does not deliver the changes that boxing needs,
- 10:58and it only makes it worse. So, with all that
- 11:07said, man, that's how you do it. LVXmedia .net
- 11:10slash b -sides. Get yourself connected. Do not
- 11:15sit this one out. Moving on. Edgar Berlenga and
- 11:23Richardson Hitchens signed with Zufa. And all
- 11:27that that implies. Saul, what are you thinking?
- 11:32What are you thinking about these two signings?
- 11:35I think it's a great move for Berlanga. Horrible
- 11:39move for Richard Hitchens. Why is it a good move
- 11:42for Berlanga? Well, because he's not going to
- 11:45be getting anything done in boxing and the usual
- 11:49empire. The preferred methods? Yeah, the preferred
- 11:55methods, yeah. He will never become a champion,
- 11:57and that's no disrespect to him. In the sense
- 12:00that... It's just the reality of the matter.
- 12:02Look at Berlingo compared to the rest of the
- 12:04division. Exactly, yeah. I don't want to say
- 12:07it, but he's kind of... He is. Bum Lenga, as
- 12:11we like to call him in Discord. Sorry. Yeah,
- 12:15we have coined the term Bum Lenga. Bum Lenga,
- 12:17that's what we call you, buddy. I'm sorry. And
- 12:20then for Richard Hitchens, I mean, again, not
- 12:25the most exciting fighter. but you were a champion
- 12:30and you're dropping that for a belt that has
- 12:32no history. And I'm going to be honest with you,
- 12:36people are not going to watch it. I can understand
- 12:39maybe someone like Ryo or maybe Boa Chuk or Obataya
- 12:43because, I mean, they're sellers in the sense
- 12:46that they can fight. They fight their ass off.
- 12:49They're not a technician. And again, of course,
- 12:55you know, we respect all. all aspects of the
- 12:59sport, 100%. But Richard Hitchens is not someone
- 13:03that a lot of people think of as prime time boxing.
- 13:09So I don't know. It's also not as good on the
- 13:12part of Zufa as well, but they're also getting
- 13:14people that, you know, as much as they can get
- 13:18from anybody anywhere. They're picking up another
- 13:22champion. And, of course, he's going to be vacating
- 13:28this title, the 140, IBF 140. He's going to be
- 13:32dropping that, and now he's moving up to 147.
- 13:35He was already, like, a pretty decent -sized
- 13:39140 guy, so, like, the move -up shouldn't be
- 13:43too bad as far as, like, how does his power carry
- 13:47up? Like, will his skill, stamina, all that shit,
- 13:50is that going to carry up with him? Probably
- 13:53yes. The only problem is that the Zufa stable
- 13:59at 147 is what? Connor Ben? But that also leaves
- 14:05Ryo as a viable possibility for moving up to
- 14:11147. Without having that 140 step in between.
- 14:17Like, man, what is Zufa going to do? Like, are
- 14:22they just going to throw up catchweights whenever
- 14:24the fuck they feel like? Like, Ryo's going to
- 14:26be moving up to 147 at some point in the future.
- 14:30So are they going to throw on a 142 fight? Just
- 14:36for fuck's sake? One thing I do want to point
- 14:39out, too, with this move, and I know you mentioned
- 14:42Conor Benn right now, it's very obvious this
- 14:44is a move by Keith Connolly. to move all his
- 14:48guys from Matchroom and beyond to Zufa. Is this
- 14:53the manager? I don't know. Yeah, it's Keith Connelly.
- 14:56He manages Christian Hitchens. He managed Edgar
- 14:59Belonga, Teofimo Lopez, I believe. No. Which
- 15:03I think Teofimo is going to go with Zufa. Not
- 15:05Teo. Yeah, Teo. And then he also managed Conor
- 15:09Benn. So I doubt you're going to see a Conor
- 15:11Benn -Christian Hitchens fight. But... I'm going
- 15:16to be honest, it does also seem a little likely,
- 15:20considering the fact that they also don't have
- 15:22a lot of talent at 147. Yeah, you're right. But
- 15:26I don't know. We'll see what happens to that.
- 15:28But the fact that Hitchens dropped IBF for Zufa
- 15:32to just, you know, again, he's a technician.
- 15:36He's not exciting. Not a lot of people are going
- 15:39to tune in for him. It's nerds like us that like
- 15:42Richardson Hitchens. Exactly. We appreciate what
- 15:47he can do, even if we don't necessarily like
- 15:50it. Man. Berlanga, on the other hand, I think
- 15:56you're right. I said this about Mark McSio. He's
- 16:01going to get steady work. They have a fair few
- 16:06dudes at 175. He's a decent enough name, so he's
- 16:12going to get the big media push. from Zufa. So,
- 16:15like, fucking get your bag, dog. Who can fault
- 16:20you for that? Hitchens is just like, it's a little
- 16:23bit more questionable just because he held, he
- 16:25was already a champion. So, like, why? Why would
- 16:28you, like, why? I don't know. I do know he was
- 16:33also not in good standing with Matrim as well,
- 16:36considering what he said his last show. And then,
- 16:41I just believe this is just, them just not, you
- 16:46know, get moving with the manager as well. Throwing
- 16:50tomatoes at Hitchens. Yeah. So I'm going to jump
- 16:56ahead on the docket here. Ryan Garcia versus
- 16:59Conor Benn negotiations are quote -unquote well
- 17:02underway for August. Now, Conor Benn recently
- 17:06re -signed with Zufa for a multi -year, multi
- 17:10-fight deal. How is this possible? How is it
- 17:14possible that Ryan Garcia... I sincerely doubt
- 17:18he's going to go to Zufa to hold a title fight
- 17:22for a belt that Zufa doesn't recognize. And they're
- 17:26not going to let Conor... Will they let Conor
- 17:28Benn go off to fight for a title that they don't
- 17:34recognize? I don't know, man. What do you make
- 17:36of it? Well, we just saw Conor Benn in a... Stinger.
- 17:40In a catchweight fight. And we'll talk about
- 17:42it soon. We saw him, yeah, exactly, in a Stanker
- 17:44fight with Regis Progray in a catchweight, which
- 17:48is already contradicting Zufa, what they want
- 17:51to do. And I doubt it also happens on a Zufa
- 17:55show because, again, this is Ryan Garcia. This
- 17:59is Golden Boy. Golden Boy has their beef with
- 18:02Zufa and with Dana White. So I don't think it's
- 18:07going to be placed on a Zufa card. I'm surprised
- 18:11it's even going to be Conor Benn in the first
- 18:12place. I understand it's going to be America
- 18:16versus Great Britain, but I feel like that fight's
- 18:21going to be a stinker, dude. That fight with
- 18:22Ryan. Ryan and Conor Benn? Yeah, I don't see
- 18:27it being too exciting. I feel like once Conor
- 18:34feels the power of Ryan, he's going to do the
- 18:37same thing as Bartosz, just back off the whole
- 18:39fight. until either Ryan knocks him out or they
- 18:42go to a UD. Boo. Boo this Ben. I don't see it
- 18:52going very well for him either. Yeah, we'll talk
- 18:56about him a little bit later. What else do we
- 19:00got? Ryan Rozicki and Chris Billum -Smith. Roziki
- 19:05is the WBC number one contender. They both signed
- 19:10multi -fight deals with Zufa. Pretty obvious
- 19:13this is getting Jai some opponents, right? It's
- 19:20just curious that they're picking off a contender
- 19:25for a major title. That's the only thing that
- 19:31really stands out to me about this move other
- 19:33than... getting guys for Jai. What do you think?
- 19:38Well, I believe the same thing you believe. They're
- 19:41just getting guys for Jai. I mean, Chris Billum
- 19:44-Smith and Ryan Rzycki, as much as we don't,
- 19:46you know, like the move to Zufa, that is the
- 19:49best possible move for them for money as well.
- 19:53Realistically, I mean, they're not going to be
- 19:54making that much money over in the general populace.
- 20:00Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I'm just waffling these
- 20:05big ass words. I'm just trying to see how long
- 20:07I can throw these big ass words around to be
- 20:08silly. Nah, you're making them work. Nah, I'm
- 20:13just fucking around. I think Chris Bell Smith
- 20:16and Ryan moving to Zufa is a good career move,
- 20:20but again, they're moving to Zufa. And you're
- 20:24going to be used as cannon fodder for Jairo Pataya.
- 20:29If you want to do that, go ahead, but... I mean,
- 20:33you're not going to be building any legacy. So,
- 20:38Shanada has an interesting viewpoint that I wanted
- 20:42to share. And we were talking about it specifically
- 20:46in reference to these moves here, where Jai beats
- 20:53up these top contenders. Both of them are top
- 20:56contenders in the Cruiserweight division. Now,
- 21:00he's the Zufa Titleist. He beats these two guys.
- 21:05I was saying that it gives credibility to the
- 21:12Zufa Cruiserweight title. Shanada thought either
- 21:17the Zufa title matters or it doesn't. It doesn't
- 21:20matter what weight division. Like we say, IBF
- 21:24Champion. It doesn't matter what weight class.
- 21:27IBF champion fucking means something. So, where
- 21:32do you land on that divide? Can you say that
- 21:38again? Sorry. Yeah. So, we're talking about Jai
- 21:44Upataya as the Zufa cruiserweight champion, right?
- 21:48Jai Upataya. And we're... Zufa is signing Roziki.
- 21:56and CBS. Both of them are top -tier contenders
- 22:01in cruiserweight. Now, whenever we talk about
- 22:06world titles, if we say WBC or IBF, we know that
- 22:16those titles mean something. It doesn't matter
- 22:18what weight division you're at. But I was arguing...
- 22:24The cruiserweight title, Opitaya is giving it
- 22:29meaning. Even if the other weight divisions are
- 22:32ass, he is giving credibility to the cruiserweight
- 22:36division for Zufa. I see. I see. And you're giving
- 22:41them decent contenders, number one contenders.
- 22:43Yeah. To legitimize his champion status. Exactly.
- 22:49Yeah. I can see some merit in that idea. Of course,
- 22:54I mean, if they were to get someone like Julio
- 22:56Cesar Chavez Jr., obviously that's not going
- 22:59to be legitimizing Jao Pataya. And I can see
- 23:07that fight still happening to Zufa, obviously.
- 23:09That would be upsetting. But at the same time,
- 23:15as much as they try, they're never going to get
- 23:18that same amount of legacy that... The other
- 23:23belt holders have. I'll say that. Because, again,
- 23:28Jai is a great fighter. Or decent fighter. Great,
- 23:33decent, whatever. He's solid. He's good. I still
- 23:38need to see him tested against better opponents.
- 23:42Because I call a lot of fighters great. Scratch
- 23:46all that. Arm is fucking waffling again. Either
- 23:49way. Jao Pataya is living through an interesting
- 23:59point in the boxing history where creating stars
- 24:02is a lot harder. Creating a legacy is even harder
- 24:07as well. So for Jao Pataya, he's kind of starting
- 24:13at the bottom in Zufa. They're using him to create
- 24:16a legacy. The first Zufa champion. And getting
- 24:23guys from the regular side of boxing over here,
- 24:28I mean, again, you could beat them up, whatever,
- 24:31but is that really going to add to legacy? You
- 24:34know, who are they? They were never brought up
- 24:36in the Zufa world, you know? It wasn't like Jai
- 24:42has been holding the title for seven years and
- 24:44then some guy named Chris Bill Smith came up
- 24:48in the rankings and challenged Jai. To a fight.
- 24:51And he beat Jio Pataya. They're getting it from
- 24:54the regular side of boxing. You know what I mean?
- 24:57Yeah, I got you. I don't know if that's just
- 25:00waffling. No, no, no. I understand. All I'm saying
- 25:05is that there's no legacy in Zufa right now.
- 25:09They're just getting transplants. You know? They're
- 25:14getting transplants from the regular organization
- 25:15and bringing them over here. And they're not
- 25:17even that good. I guess they could beat him up
- 25:20and they're decent opponents, but as legacy builders,
- 25:24that's not going to happen. You need to build
- 25:26a guy from the ground up, which I feel like that
- 25:28might have more merit itself. They're going to
- 25:31try to get some guy from, you know, Team USA
- 25:35or from the Olympics, and they're going to build
- 25:38him up through Zufa. And that is going to be
- 25:42like a solid, credible opponent. solid critical
- 25:46opponent that they're going to have him beat
- 25:49Jao Pataya. By the time he fights Jao Pataya,
- 25:52he's going to be old. And he's going to be Zufa
- 25:55champion. I mean, I don't see anybody else beating
- 25:57Jao Pataya. At the moment. In the Zufa system.
- 26:01At the moment. Yeah, within the Zufa system.
- 26:05But you bring a guy up and he beats Jai and becomes
- 26:11the champion. Then at that point, you create
- 26:13a lineage. But they're not doing that. Again,
- 26:17you kind of see what I'm saying? They're not
- 26:18building them up. They're getting these people
- 26:20from boxing, from the regular set of boxing.
- 26:22And they're expecting that whatever prestige
- 26:25these guys already have, they're expecting it
- 26:29to carry over. But that's like the Zufa fucking
- 26:34mission statement, is that whatever prestige
- 26:37you had over there doesn't matter here. Exactly.
- 26:41So, yeah, you can't have it both ways. You don't
- 26:45get to have the WBC number one contender sign
- 26:49with your shit and then say he's the Zufa number
- 26:53one contender now. Exactly. And Max Kellerman
- 26:58famously says, oh, I never named the belt organizations.
- 27:02I just call them the belts. Well, what the fuck
- 27:05do these people, what's their... What's their
- 27:08value then? What do they matter? Exactly. What's
- 27:10their value? They're just names. They're random
- 27:12ass people for all we care. Right? But they are
- 27:17named because they're high in the rankings. Right?
- 27:21Which rankings? WBC? IPF? You know what I mean?
- 27:25But they don't want to say it, honestly. But,
- 27:28again, that's an interesting situation that Zufa's
- 27:36going to be finding themselves in. And they are
- 27:38finding themselves in. It's how do you create
- 27:40legacy? And I don't think they're going to be
- 27:43able to create a legacy, honestly. I don't think
- 27:45so either. They could try, but the current way
- 27:47they're doing it is not a good way. The thing
- 27:50is that Zufa, if they really, really want to
- 27:53create a brand, create a legacy, they need to
- 27:56start from the ground up. They can't just grab
- 27:58guys from the regular side of boxing and put
- 28:01them in a fucking warehouse in the mid -apex
- 28:03with five people watching who are also part of
- 28:06the Zufa brand. Right? You need to get these
- 28:09guys from grassroots. You need to do what...
- 28:12Oscar did when he first started Golden Boy. Get
- 28:15clubs, get guys in club shows, have them win,
- 28:19get them up in the rankings, and gain power.
- 28:23Do that. Yeah, that's kind of what he's doing
- 28:26right now. Rebuilding through the club system.
- 28:32Exactly. With Zufa, they want to skip directly
- 28:35to the end and be like, hey, this is legacy already.
- 28:39You are the champion. You are the only guy to
- 28:41be a champion. Like, no, that doesn't mean shit.
- 28:43Because who is he beating to be champion? Zerto
- 28:46is a unified champion, whereas you have one.
- 28:51Exactly. So either his title matters or it doesn't.
- 28:57All right. Exactly. You've helped talk me back
- 29:01over to the Shinada side of thinking. One more
- 29:05thing. I just want to add one more thing to point
- 29:07out. I know we just said. uh job type of brandon
- 29:11glenn for and like we said zerto fought cbs zerto
- 29:17fought other guys at cruiserweight that are gulamirian
- 29:21whatever the his name might actually matter to
- 29:24people he was still a champ exactly whereas i
- 29:29mean brandon glenn again he is a uh what's the
- 29:36word He is very durable, but again, it's Brandon
- 29:41Glanton. He's a glorified contender. Yeah, he's
- 29:44a glorified contender, and Jai Bhai Upataya beat
- 29:46him for the Zufa champion. If that's your first
- 29:50Zufa champion, it's the guy that beat, again,
- 29:53Brandon Glanton's from the regular set of boxing,
- 29:55and he's not even considered highly ranked. And
- 29:59Jai beat him, and now he's the Zufa champion.
- 30:02You know, you see what I mean? Where's your legacy
- 30:04at? One, you got a guy from regular boxing who's
- 30:07not even good. And two, you beat him and now
- 30:09you're champion. That's not a good look. And
- 30:13he looked bad in the fight as well. That's my
- 30:16piece. I'm just ranting, honestly. No, no, no.
- 30:18You're laying it down. I want to add one more
- 30:24point. Brandon Glanton was beaten by Chris Billum
- 30:28-Smith before the Zufa move. So... Like, we're
- 30:36talking about, like, as much as, like, Max likes
- 30:43to, like, jerk himself off on the fucking broadcast,
- 30:46like, the man who beat the man who beat the man,
- 30:49like, okay, well, Brandon Glanton got his ass
- 30:52beat by Chris Billum -Smith, who got his ass
- 30:55beat by Zerda. So how much does this fucking
- 30:59win of Jayo Pataya's really matter? Because he's
- 31:04not the fucking lineal contender or whatever.
- 31:09Just trying to mix words there to give Brandon
- 31:14Glanton some semblance of credibility. Exactly.
- 31:19Jai Obtai himself is a transplant from regular
- 31:21boxing. Right. And he himself doesn't have much
- 31:25legacy. He's built some amount of, you know,
- 31:28of a resume, but he still has more to build.
- 31:32And he hasn't fought no one near the top level
- 31:37in ages, if really ever. So, yes, a Chris Bill
- 31:43Smith fight will be good for his career. But,
- 31:46again, you're not fighting the best guy. Now,
- 31:48again, if you were to fight Zerto or if you were
- 31:50to fight... I didn't want to say his damn name.
- 31:56I didn't want to say his damn freaking name.
- 32:01If you beat Vidal Riley, someone else. I'm sorry.
- 32:10It's just a deep cut. Yeah, when you're talking
- 32:15about cruiserweight, that's all it is, is deep
- 32:17cuts. Mikaelian. You also have Mikaelian. You
- 32:20also have freaking Battle Jack as well. But you
- 32:25haven't beat any of these guys. You're sniping
- 32:27Mikaelian's number one contender. That doesn't
- 32:32make you Mikaelian. Exactly. You're not beating
- 32:35Mikaelian. You're beating his contender. Yeah.
- 32:40That's a little bit more time that I wanted to
- 32:42get to these fucking cruiserweights over at Zufa.
- 32:46One fun -ish note. The creator of Hajime no Ippo,
- 32:54the boxing anime that just a lot of people who
- 32:58get into boxing Probably started there. George
- 33:03Morikawa. He got a WBC commemorative. Not commemorative.
- 33:10It was a replica belt. That all of the fighters
- 33:15on the Saturday, April 11th. Taiken card in Sumida
- 33:22in Tokyo. They all signed it. Gave it to him
- 33:26as he was leaving the hospital. So I thought
- 33:27that was pretty nice. That's awesome. Last bit
- 33:37of news. The Saudi Wealth Fund, the Sovereign
- 33:40Wealth Fund, is backing off of Live Golf. Are
- 33:45you familiar with the history of the Sovereign
- 33:47Wealth Fund and what they've been doing from
- 33:49Live Golf, the Saudi Super League for football?
- 33:54Football. Yeah. I know they want to do flag football
- 33:58as well, right? Really? I didn't know about that.
- 34:01I think they pulled freaking Tom Brady out of
- 34:04retirement to try to get... To play flag football?
- 34:07Yeah. Honestly, it's only a matter of time. And
- 34:15I don't know how to say it, but it's only a matter
- 34:17of time before they pull out of boxing. Yeah,
- 34:19that's kind of like what the whole topic is about,
- 34:22is like how far down the chopping block are we?
- 34:26Because I feel like... Boxing, relatively, compared
- 34:32to the Live Golf Tournament, a Saudi Super Football
- 34:37League where they have Ronaldo signed, or they
- 34:43have Tom Brady in a flag football league, those
- 34:45are a lot more expensive than boxing events.
- 34:51100%. We're cheap. We're peanuts compared to
- 34:54them. We really are. And honestly, one thing
- 34:58that's kind of, I never expected this really,
- 35:02but when Donald Trump, I hate to bring up politics,
- 35:10having him bomb Iran created a butterfly effect.
- 35:15Security situation for the Saudis. Exactly, which
- 35:19made him realize, hey, we're not untouchable.
- 35:21We need to invest more in our military. You know,
- 35:24people are not going to come. to our country
- 35:26if they're afraid that they're not going to be
- 35:29safe. We need to protect ourselves. So it's going
- 35:33to create a butterfly effect of the Saudis pulling
- 35:36out of sports. We're starting to pull out of
- 35:38sports. So far. At least this is what I've seen.
- 35:42It seems to be that that's like a logical line
- 35:46of events, I would say as well. And honestly,
- 35:53it seems to be that the Saudis and I don't get
- 36:00I don't give Turkey much credit on this podcast.
- 36:06But what I do got to give him credit for is having
- 36:10him get the the old gang back together. Having
- 36:14all the promoters really start working together
- 36:18to actually fight against. The machine. Yeah.
- 36:23Fight against a foreign entity messing with the
- 36:28sport. Whereas when they started at the bottom,
- 36:30he just rammed himself in there. Obviously, we
- 36:34know how the story went with them and the Saudis.
- 36:38But it's good that they're actually starting
- 36:41to work together. You see PBC guys on matchroom
- 36:44shows. You see top -ranked guys on PBC shows.
- 36:49I mean, it's starting to look like they're actually
- 36:54going to get the shit together. Maybe just for
- 36:56the time being until the Saudis kind of back
- 36:58off. Yeah, when they pull out fully. Or whenever
- 37:02or if ever Zufa fails. But for the time being,
- 37:08it seems like boxing is going to be working very
- 37:13well for the foreseeable future. And I got to
- 37:18thank Turkey All Chic for that. Thank you. It
- 37:22hurts for me to say it. No, yeah, I absolutely
- 37:25understand. Both for helping them do that. Getting
- 37:30the better players to play with each other just
- 37:35to avoid you. Exactly. There is, now it's important
- 37:41to point out, I don't have it listed here, but
- 37:44the... There's going to be a, I'm not sure what
- 37:51term you use, terrestrial, linear, over -the
- 37:55-air television. That, you know, standard TV.
- 38:02There's going to be a boxing series on TNT. It's
- 38:06going to be called, I think it's called The Fight.
- 38:09And what it is, is all of the promoters that
- 38:14are on DAZN. put their best fights like inter
- 38:19inter promotional fights end up on tnt is it
- 38:28just gonna i don't know much about the details
- 38:30but they're just gonna be on tnt exclusively
- 38:32or they're gonna be also on the zone it's on
- 38:35the zone as well okay it's interesting yeah tnt
- 38:42is mainly a british Broadcaster or is that also...
- 38:46I believe it's primarily American. Primarily
- 38:51American? Yeah. I'm just curious. It's billed
- 38:58as like the action network. TNT, Dynamite, Explosive.
- 39:03So TNT is like the action network. It's kind
- 39:06of like Spike TV, if you remember that. Is that
- 39:11still around? No. Spike TV is dead. Interesting.
- 39:17But DNT's been running strong. Yeah, it's connected
- 39:22to the USA. Interesting. I wonder who owns that
- 39:28one. I believe Warner Brothers Discovery owns
- 39:36it. Isn't Warner Brothers going to get owned
- 39:40by Paramount soon? I think so. And I think that's
- 39:45how this got settled, is because Warner Brothers
- 39:50found a home, so they were able to negotiate
- 39:54this deal with DAZN. Interesting. Whatever gets
- 40:02boxing back on, like, regular TV, I'm here for
- 40:07it. Now we have people actually fighting on cable
- 40:12again. Yeah. Not behind a paywall. Exactly. Anything
- 40:18more for the news? Nope, not at all. All right.

- 44:50All right. Into the recaps. First things first.
- 44:55Thursday, April 9th. Eye of the Tiger. in Montreal.
- 45:00Just one note to get out of the way. Arthur B.
- 45:04Arslanov gets the stoppage in seven over Ximer
- 45:08Espinosa. But the star of the show, Oslis Iglesias,
- 45:16he fulfills his promise to his mother, becomes...
- 45:22A world champion, he claims the IBF super middleweight
- 45:26title by retiring Pavel Selyagin after the eighth.
- 45:32Saul, is there a super middleweight active today
- 45:37that can beat this man? A super middleweight
- 45:42that's active? Right. Honestly? So far, I don't
- 45:48see one. Probably not, man. I don't think so.
- 45:53Because all the other 168 guys, they're all kind
- 45:57of around the same level. And they ducked him.
- 45:59They avoided this fight. They all ducked him.
- 46:02The only one I could see maybe beating him would
- 46:05be Lester. But the thing is, I know this sounds
- 46:12crazy, but I feel like the only guy that would
- 46:14be able to beat Oslaes is going to be a guy with
- 46:17relentless pressure. Put him on the back foot.
- 46:21Put him on the back foot because we have never
- 46:23seen Osu on the back foot necessarily. He always
- 46:27gets his way. Yeah, he always gets his way because
- 46:30he hits too hard. So you need a guy that has
- 46:33a good chin that will also hit hard and is also
- 46:37going to be able to dodge punches. Get in on
- 46:40the inside and fuck him up. So I think the only
- 46:44guy that can do it is going to be Lester. I don't
- 46:47see someone like... Shiraz doing it because he
- 46:50ducked the fight. Canelo can do it because he's
- 46:53too old. And Billy, he's very stationary in the
- 46:56sense that he does not really move his head off
- 46:58center line. I think he ducked the fight too.
- 47:01And he ducked the fight as well. Diego Pacheco,
- 47:04I don't even know how to explain that one. Disappointment.
- 47:08Edgar Berlanga. Yeah, Edgar Berlanga's with Zufa.
- 47:11Who else is at 168? Armando Resendiz. Munguia
- 47:16ducked the fight too. Smartly enough, he ducked
- 47:18the fight to get in a match with Armando Resendiz,
- 47:24which is a lot easier. Much more winnable fight,
- 47:27of course. Yeah, much more winnable fight. So
- 47:30I see this as a good and bad thing that he's
- 47:35a champion. Because one, he's a champion. He's
- 47:37known now. They can't not mention him anymore.
- 47:41Before they would not fucking... He was like
- 47:44Voldemort. You don't speak his name. Exactly.
- 47:49But now he's a champ. They have to mention him
- 47:53when talking about other title holders. And honestly,
- 47:58I still think he's going to get avoided. It's
- 48:02one of those things that is high risk and low
- 48:06reward. Even with a world title. on his waist,
- 48:11he's still low reward. A world title is not enough
- 48:16for someone to step in the ring with him. Exactly.
- 48:25Let's see what happens with that. I have to point
- 48:27out that Xander Zayas sought out the fight with
- 48:35boots while holding the two belts on his waist.
- 48:40He could, like, Oslis, it's not his fault. He's
- 48:44going to be relegated to just defending against
- 48:47dudes like Pavel over and over and over again.
- 48:52And that's all he's ever going to accomplish.
- 48:55And it's not his fault. He's so, so fucking talented.
- 48:59But he's too talented. That's all I got. The
- 49:09only time someone's going to fight him is for
- 49:11Undisputed or if they want to unify. But there's
- 49:14going to be easier champions to beat at that
- 49:16weight class. I fear he's just not going to get
- 49:21the admiration that people want him to have.
- 49:27Honestly, I might get flagged for this. I might
- 49:31get serious flagged for this, but Oslies would
- 49:34actually be a good person to send to Zufa. I'm
- 49:39not saying I would want him to go to Zufa, but
- 49:42to have someone that's exciting and get him young,
- 49:47I guess, you know? I doubt he's going to get
- 49:52anybody in regular boxing, but at least in Zufa,
- 49:55he might get more money for the time being. I'm
- 49:59not supporting him if he were to go to Zufa.
- 50:01I'm not saying that at all. All I'm saying is
- 50:04that nobody's going to fight him at 168. He's
- 50:09going to be avoided from here on out. Mbili...
- 50:15We're going to assume that Hamza Shiraz beats
- 50:19Alan Begich. Mbili, Resendiz, and Shiraz... Those
- 50:29three are going to happily fight each other.
- 50:33But... God, they're not going to go for Undisputed.
- 50:38Hell no. No, man. I mean, Shiraz fucking dug
- 50:43Jenebeck. He did, didn't he? He dug Jenebeck.
- 50:50And arguably, Osis is a harder fight than Jenebeck.
- 50:57Well, rather than just we sit here and agree
- 51:04with each other over how... fucking excellent
- 51:08that Iglesias is and how he's not going to get
- 51:10the credit he deserves. Let's move on. Friday,
- 51:15April 10th, really quickly, Hebert Contesau gets
- 51:21the UD. It was certainly a fight. I'm trying
- 51:29to remember who the other one was. Eh. Doesn't
- 51:37matter. Saturday, April 11th, Pro Box TV at the
- 51:42Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Vito Melnicki
- 51:48gets a UD over Ulysses Huerta. Again, it was
- 51:55certainly a fight. Classic Melnicki win. Yeah.
- 52:01It was certainly a win. It was certainly a win.
- 52:04You certainly boxed and you certainly punched
- 52:08him. Moving on. Earlier that day in Tokyo, Japan,
- 52:17we had taken... Did you catch this card? That
- 52:25was... Estrada versus Tension. With Estrada and
- 52:28Tension, yeah. No, unfortunately, I was not able
- 52:30to catch it, but I've seen the highlights. It's
- 52:32all right. Yeah. Estrada is showing his age,
- 52:37and it pains me. Where's he at in the box of
- 52:45laundry? Got to bring that up again. This is
- 52:50definite proof he's in the hamper. He's just
- 52:55going to get used up right now, and if he continues
- 53:00to fight, take fights like this, he's going to
- 53:06end up as a trapo really quickly. Yeah. Very
- 53:12soon. I hope he calls it quits. I hope so, too.
- 53:21He's had a pretty good career. Excellent. Yeah.
- 53:28Last bit. Gold Star on Netflix. Let me go from
- 53:33the bottom up just to get them out of the way.
- 53:38Elliot Whale stops Tom Hill in four. Mikey Tallon
- 53:43stops Christopher Rios in the first. Pavel August
- 53:48points over Simon Zakenhuber. Felix Cash stops
- 53:54Liam O 'Hare in the second. Justice Hooney, majority
- 53:58decision over Frazier Clark. Fucking nice. Richard
- 54:07Riekpore stops Jamie Chikeva in the fifth to
- 54:13claim the British heavyweight title. So congrats
- 54:17to Richard. This was honestly surprising. Probably
- 54:20the best fight to the card. It was, yeah. Especially
- 54:24for how short it was. Still had solid... In the
- 54:31opening rounds, it had good back and forth. Yeah,
- 54:35which, again, is not saying much, but, I mean,
- 54:37that's also kind of the point of this card. Connor
- 54:40Ben. Pooh D. No, that's not a UD. It's fucking
- 54:47Pooh over Regis Progre. shit the program reveals
- 54:54in the aftermath that all of the the injury rumors
- 54:59were true and that he had a lot of lingering
- 55:02issues coming into it connor ben to me this is
- 55:07this outcome is solely an indictment on connor
- 55:14ben how in the fuck were you not able to finish
- 55:17that i gotta be honest this is probably I know
- 55:22obviously he won the fight, but he lost. Fuck
- 55:25yeah, he lost. He lost. He lost a lot of the
- 55:29aura he had after the Eubank fight, fighting
- 55:33Regis Progray. And again, he got 15 mil out of
- 55:36it. But again, how do you not knock down a guy
- 55:40that was put on skates by a featherweight in
- 55:44Jojo Diaz? You know what I mean? How? Again,
- 55:50you also had him on skates in the first round,
- 55:52but you cruised to UD against the guy you should
- 55:56have had out. This was his first fight at welterweight.
- 56:00This was, you were going back to the welter,
- 56:04in the area of the welterweight. You weren't
- 56:06exactly welterweight, but you're going back down.
- 56:08Did you lose power? Did Connor, what happened,
- 56:12Connor? Do you not have power after the PED?
- 56:15If you did take him, what happened? What's up?
- 56:20You know, I genuinely can't believe that Conor
- 56:23looked this bad. I think this is the worst case
- 56:27scenario for this fight. He won, but... Again,
- 56:31he could lose, but he won and he lost at the
- 56:36same time. He didn't win any good will. Exactly,
- 56:39yeah. This is the worst case scenario for a win.
- 56:41I think it's a better way to put it. Because
- 56:43he could have lost by knockout for some odd reason,
- 56:47but... I mean, winning and not knocking out Regis
- 56:51Progray, not even looking good against Regis
- 56:52Progray. I mean, Regis had some amount of, you
- 56:57know, like here and there, some showings. Yeah,
- 57:06overall, I was not impressed with Conor Benn.
- 57:12This was supposed to be like his big... Re -debut
- 57:18to the world. Like, I'm done with the Chris Eubank
- 57:24stuff, and I'm moving back down, back to my proper
- 57:27natural weight, and you give us this. Hey, looking
- 57:35good, champ. I'll tell you that. Yeah. And you
- 57:37want to fight Ryan Garcia? Please. Again, if
- 57:43you don't have pop, Ryan Garcia's going to knock
- 57:45you out. Which, again, if you can knock out Regis
- 57:49Progray, you might not have that much power.
- 57:53If Devin Haney can put Regis Progray on skates,
- 57:57we might have to rethink some things here, Connor.
- 58:02Exactly. I mean, it's a little embarrassing,
- 58:07to say the least. It's funny as heck because
- 58:10Dana White loses money out of this. $15 million
- 58:14for this? Are you serious? I mean, I understand
- 58:20why Regis didn't say anything. Because there's
- 58:24also the chance that if he did speak up that
- 58:25he's injured, they would just call off the fight
- 58:27and he would lose his payday. And he would lose
- 58:32his time under the bright lights. You know? He
- 58:36retired afterwards, so... Yeah, he's done. But,
- 58:43uh... Yeah, that was horrendous. I'll tell you
- 58:47that. Was this also horrendous? Tyson Fury sweeps
- 58:52Arsalan Beck -Makhmudov. I was just not impressed
- 58:58with this either. I don't know what the heck's
- 59:01happening. Come on, Fury. Come on. Makhmudov
- 59:09too. It was just a stinker. It was just a run
- 59:13of the mill. fight for fury and what was even
- 59:16more embarrassing is after the fight he goes
- 59:19up and tries to get Anthony Joshua to get in
- 59:21the ring with him and Joshua says no where's
- 59:25the hype at the hype for that fight I don't know
- 59:31AJ saying I'm the landlord um you like you figure
- 59:37out your little scruples and then you come to
- 59:40me That's what AJ said, anyway. I mean, AJ, in
- 59:50reality, hasn't had a real fight. He hasn't won
- 59:54a real fight since 2023. No, 2024. Sorry. Because
- 59:59he fought in Ghanu in 2025. I believe, right?
- 1:00:04I don't know if that counts. But yeah, 2025.
- 1:00:07No. He lost to Dubois in 2025 as well. So he
- 1:00:11hasn't won a real fight since 2023. Oh, no, 2024.
- 1:00:15Sorry. Based on what we saw from Wilder, Chisora,
- 1:00:27and then Fury, Makhmudov, I genuinely would rather
- 1:00:33see AJ Wilder right now. Yeah. I'd want to see
- 1:00:43any of them just to see it get over with at this
- 1:00:46point. Yeah, finally. I've been getting teased
- 1:00:49with these fights for too long. I don't care.
- 1:00:51I just need to see them now. I mean, you can
- 1:00:55fight Wilder first and then fight Fury. As your
- 1:00:59warm -up fight? Yeah, I mean, he fought Jake
- 1:01:03Paul. He beat Jake Paul. Come on, guys. It's
- 1:01:06a good fight. Come on. Right? Right? Yeah, gotta
- 1:01:12be. But there's news that Fury versus AJ is likely
- 1:01:22happening in November. I believe that's once
- 1:01:25AJ gets a warm -up. Yeah. Who is it going to
- 1:01:32be, though? That's kind of the question. There
- 1:01:34was suspicions of Arsalan Beck. fighting AJ as
- 1:01:40well. Just to kind of do like a common opponent
- 1:01:43kind of thing. Who else is there for AJ to fight?
- 1:01:49Really? That's like a a credible warm up without
- 1:01:56being too dangerous. Maybe Jermaine Frank. We
- 1:02:02already fought Jermaine Frank. He already did.
- 1:02:04I don't know. Maybe not Bacoli, because he's
- 1:02:10got power. O 'Coli? Oh, he's busy. O 'Coli. Yeah.
- 1:02:14And that's also AJ's friend. Yeah. Uh, Sanford
- 1:02:19Safari. Uh, Riek Pory? He just fought on the
- 1:02:24card, so, like, he might be ready. TKD. Ujasasuni.
- 1:02:28There you go. That is actually not a bad shout.
- 1:02:34That's not bad. If Frazier Clark had won, that
- 1:02:39would have been a good one. There is a lot of
- 1:02:41guys you could actually fight. I take that back.
- 1:02:44I'm just a casual. Anything more for this Tyson
- 1:02:51Fury card? Just a bunch of stinkers. Yeah. Just
- 1:02:57a bunch of freaking stinkers. That's all I got
- 1:03:00to say about that. Let's see here. Social media

- 1:08:00right. Into the previews. We don't have a lot
- 1:08:05for this week. Let's see. Let's start with Thursday,
- 1:08:11April 23rd. Bunch of bullshit on this card that
- 1:08:15I don't care about. Jason Maloney versus Andre
- 1:08:18Donovan. That is certainly a fight. Yeah. Great
- 1:08:25fight, guys. Will I be waking up? Of course I
- 1:08:29will be at one in the morning on a Thursday to
- 1:08:34watch Jason Maloney. Yeah, I couldn't. Get myself
- 1:08:40to finish that sentence. Yeah, it hurts. It hurts
- 1:08:43to listen to that. I'm sorry. Primetime Fight
- 1:08:47Night Volume 8 in Kolding, Denmark. Jacob Jakubbank,
- 1:08:54pardon me, versus Paulinus Njolonimu. You guys
- 1:09:01remember this guy? He beat the GOAT. He beat
- 1:09:03William School. He schooled the school man. Great.
- 1:09:11But because of that win, he has put himself into
- 1:09:18the position of contender, top contender for
- 1:09:21the WBO. So we'll have to keep an eye on him
- 1:09:26to see what he does or how Shiraz is going to
- 1:09:30handle this situation. That's pretty much it.
- 1:09:37You probably will fight him. Probably. It's a
- 1:09:40winnable fight. But that's what we do here. We
- 1:09:45prep you. These are people that are coming up
- 1:09:50that you should be paying attention to. Matchroom
- 1:09:54on DAZN at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. On
- 1:10:00the undercard, Nishant Dev. He's a solid prospect
- 1:10:03at 154. So he's on this card, so that's worth
- 1:10:07checking out. But the main event is Gerald Miller,
- 1:10:11Mr. Hairpiece himself, versus Lanier Perrault.
- 1:10:16That's about it. You got any puns in here, Leo?
- 1:10:19No. No more puns for them? I cannot bring myself
- 1:10:25to summon the brainpower for it. Let's not split
- 1:10:29these hairs here. It's going to be a fight of
- 1:10:32all time, I'll tell you that. Are you sure this
- 1:10:34fight's not going to blow your top off? Oh, I
- 1:10:38don't know. It might not. God damn, this weekend
- 1:10:45is bad. Then they're going to wiggle this fight
- 1:10:47out. I can't fucking do that one. I tried too
- 1:10:53hard. It's all right. We tried our best to make
- 1:10:58good of a pretty poor weekend. This is one of
- 1:11:03those ones. If you have other plans, fucking
- 1:11:06go out and do that. It's a better use of your
- 1:11:09time. This is like a show where... Imagine like
- 1:11:14this, okay? It's a TV show where the episode
- 1:11:17prior to an all -time great episode, it's a slow
- 1:11:21one. It's gonna be a slow weekend for an all
- 1:11:24-time great weekend of boxing. Man, next weekend
- 1:11:27is going to be so awesome. It's going to be packed.
- 1:11:30You know what? Don't have to try to fucking stomach
- 1:11:35and power through it. Just go out and do something
- 1:11:38else, man. Next weekend is going to be sweet.
- 1:11:41Just enjoy your freedom because next weekend
- 1:11:45is grime time. You're going to be sitting in
- 1:11:48your boxing chair from like 1 in the morning
- 1:11:51until late in the evening. Just non -stop fucking
- 1:11:56fights. Action -packed week. After week. After
- 1:12:01week. Go enjoy time outside. Walk your dog. Take
- 1:12:07an extra long walk with your dog. Fucking play
- 1:12:09with your cats or your guinea pigs or whatever
- 1:12:13the fuck pets you have. Enjoy your time. Here's
- 1:12:17an idea. What's up? You could prepare for the
- 1:12:19next week. Buy the food. Get the food ready.
- 1:12:23Yeah. Start inviting people over. Get the drinks
- 1:12:27ready. It's an action -packed weekend. The night
- 1:12:29starts, the fights start at like one in the morning.
- 1:12:33So we're about to find out who your hardcore
- 1:12:36friends are. Oh, yeah. Who loves you. Who's willing
- 1:12:43to sit up with you at like one in the morning
- 1:12:46to watch some small Japanese men beat the shit
- 1:12:50out of each other. I'm kind of forcing my girlfriend
- 1:12:54to come over and watch the fight from morning
- 1:12:58and then watch the fight at night. Oh, man. She's
- 1:13:03going to have fun with that. This is a solid
- 1:13:05test for Mrs. Saul. Oh, yeah. She's already seen
- 1:13:10some interesting fights. She's had to sit through
- 1:13:13Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman. Their man
- 1:13:21spent some fights with me. So I hope she likes
- 1:13:26this one. It gets her brought into the sport
- 1:13:28a little more. Well, but we shall talk about
- 1:13:31those fights next week. Yeah, we will. So I think
- 1:13:36we've already got the parting words out of the
- 1:13:37way. Just, you know, go out and do other stuff,
- 1:13:41man. Like get yourself this weekend. Get yourself
- 1:13:45prepared for next weekend. take your dog out
- 1:13:49for like an extra long walk because you're going
- 1:13:51to be skipping it next week that type of stuff
- 1:13:55get yourself prepared alright if that is it then
- 1:14:01that is it for this edition of the Boxing B -Sides
- 1:14:04man we will see you on the other side when we're
- 1:14:08going to be talking about the best fucking weekend
- 1:14:12ever the Super Bowl It is. The fight of the century
- 1:14:18for the Japanese. For the Japanese, yeah. How
- 1:14:31do you want to convince them to watch MMA instead?
- 1:14:38Or not instead, but just to start watching MMA.
- 1:14:42I'm going to go like a different route than Nathan
- 1:14:45went. I'm going to go with First of all, I think
- 1:14:48MMA has more frequent watchable events. There's
- 1:14:54some weeks in boxing where it's either super
- 1:14:57degenerate or no names or whatever. I think in
- 1:15:00the UFC, it's slightly better at times. And then
- 1:15:03the big, big point, it's just more hectic. I
- 1:15:07think MMA at times is just more hectic. You're
- 1:15:10seeing stuff from street fights all the way to
- 1:15:12movie -type fights. You got roundhouse kicks.
- 1:15:17uh straight up like bar fights at times uh you
- 1:15:20just you get a wider range of enjoyable fights
- 1:15:24i i would say um and then just like i don't know
- 1:15:29it's just it's more enjoyable the fact the fact
- 1:15:32that at times you get to see just guys like standing
- 1:15:34and banging it's it's just more primal in a way
- 1:15:37uh is what i'd say that that's how i would try
- 1:15:40to convince uh like boxing only fans that it's
- 1:15:43just more if you enjoy chaos We saw it in the
- 1:15:46Wild Riches or fight. If you enjoy that type
- 1:15:48chaos, you know, because that wasn't exactly
- 1:15:51like a bunch of technique in that fight. But
- 1:15:53if you enjoyed something like that, I would definitely
- 1:15:55try out MMA just because at times there is high
- 1:16:00level things. And that is incredible to watch,
- 1:16:03you know, people like Mauricio Hufi. You're seeing
- 1:16:06like incredible knockouts with kicks. But even
- 1:16:10like the lower level stuff can be enjoyable.
- 1:16:13with people just going to town on each other,
- 1:16:15you know, standing and banging. That'd probably
- 1:16:18be the driving point that I would say to boxing
- 1:16:21only fans, is that if you enjoy that chaos, I
- 1:16:25would say definitely give MMA a try. If you like
- 1:16:28chaos, I like that. If you do decide to give
