- 0:00Watch the headbutts and elbows. No rabbit punches, no low blows. This will not be a
- 0:21clean fight, so protect yourself at all times. The underdogs are coming for the throne. This
- 0:29is the B-Sides Boxing Podcast. We're fucking going. We'll do it live. We'll do it fucking
- 0:38live. Got my Bill O'Reilly going on there. Okay. Imagine that shit B-Sides in your feed
- 0:45twice in the same week. We're going to try doing something a little different today.
- 0:50Less current events and a little bit more broader concept, conceptual discussion. So
- 0:58I will make half of an ass of myself as usual. Okay, so I'm joined by my good buddy Drip
- 1:06here. It's Drip, not Drip here, you know. But hey. Okay, cool. So we have on our website,
- 1:18we started putting together more readable content and motherfuckers love lists for some
- 1:27reason. So I polled Discord, got about 10 answers. 10 good responses. One like clown.
- 1:36And so I put us together a little pound for pound list based on the regulars in Discord.
- 1:47So let's have a chat about that for just a little bit.
- 1:51Yeah, let's dive into it.
- 1:53Alright, so Ushaket number one. Surprise? No surprise.
- 1:59No surprise. No surprise there.
- 2:01Yeah, I would even if like we're looking at just intra heavyweight, I'd still rate him
- 2:07over Tyson Fury. It might be because I really don't like him.
- 2:12You know, I just, I can't put Tyson Fury in any pound for pound and that's a hot take.
- 2:19Only one response had him anywhere and it was number eight.
- 2:23Even that's like this, I feel generous.
- 2:27Yeah, it feels it. It does seem a little generous. Given his like recent body of work, even including
- 2:35Deontay Wilder a little bit.
- 2:38I just think when you fight Chizora, what was it three times already? It's like, how does
- 2:44that get you a spot on half a pound?
- 2:47It's not at all to say he's not a good boxer, not a good heavyweight. That's it's just he's
- 2:54I think Ushaket is a lot better.
- 2:58The skill is there, but I just don't think the...
- 3:02Size disparity?
- 3:04I just don't think the heart is in it. Like he's very, he's very meticulous on not always
- 3:10say like who he fights, but it kind of comes down to that. Like the recent duck with Ushaket,
- 3:14I mean, look, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck. It was a duck.
- 3:18Yeah, for sure.
- 3:19And it's like when you do that and you get that kind of backlash from like, I guess your
- 3:25fans are now ex fans. Like where do you really see yourself now in the boxing? The former
- 3:31boxing was pretty much...
- 3:33Yeah. All right, let's move down to number two. Just fought recently against John Ryder.
- 3:39Canelo, number two.
- 3:41No surprise.
- 3:43Yeah, not too surprised to see him here either. Another Brit bites the dust.
- 3:51Was it the Brit basher they call him now?
- 3:54Is that what it is?
- 3:55I think Eddie Hearns said that he's called him the Brit basher or some shit.
- 4:00I got a...
- 4:01The name's fitting.
- 4:02I want to try to think of something that is like Mexicutioner. I'm still salty about that.
- 4:10I'm a big Canelo fan, but whether you're a fan or not, you really just can't deny the
- 4:16work he's put in. He did four fights, was it, in 2021 or 22 to get the undisputed super
- 4:22middleweight.
- 4:2322.
- 4:24Yeah, it's like, who really does all that in a year? You know what I'm saying?
- 4:29Yeah. No, it was 21. That's when he was trying to make up time for COVID.
- 4:34Right, right. Yeah. I think he beat Plant in what was that, like September?
- 4:40September of 22 was Golovkin.
- 4:43Right, right. I'll do that pathetic fight. That was bad.
- 4:47Yeah, that was bad for everybody.
- 4:49But I feel like that fight, everyone kind of started bringing up the topic of the deep
- 4:54line of Canelo, but I feel like that's a whole topic for another day.
- 4:58It is. That's something that we might bring up, like work stuff.
- 5:05We can definitely get into it because I think it's a hot topic right now, just in boxing
- 5:09in general.
- 5:10Yeah, absolutely. So yeah, this is actually a good time to discuss it better than any,
- 5:15or as good as any. So John Ryder goes all 12, two rounds, Canelo scores a knockdown.
- 5:22John Ryder starts leaking in, was it like round two?
- 5:26Yeah, I think round two or three started leaking.
- 5:29Yeah, he was, and that was a lot of blood coming out of his nose. That was, I've seen
- 5:35some bad like nose breaks, but holy shit, that was pretty rough.
- 5:38Yeah. I mean, some of the articles I read were that he couldn't breathe through his
- 5:42nose, so he was just breathing through his mouth while swallowing blood. I mean, that
- 5:46just makes the fight two times harder.
- 5:48Absolutely. And the elevation was a problem for him too. I know that he went to LA, but
- 5:55that's not the same thing.
- 5:56Not at all.
- 6:00So John Ryder has like every disadvantage and he still goes a distance. It looked to
- 6:06me that Canelo gassed about round nine. It's not unusual for him to do so, especially when
- 6:12he like really puts it on in the mid rounds trying to get the stoppage like he did against
- 6:16Ryder. So he can't fault him too much for that, I think. But nonetheless, like that,
- 6:23him putting the pedal to the metal there, it did not yield the results that we expect.
- 6:29He got the knockdown. Ryder looked like he would have stayed down. Obviously he got up,
- 6:35continued fighting, but he was on his knee and he was like looking to his corner, like
- 6:40do we want to keep doing this? Or like, I'm good either way. If we want to duck out early,
- 6:46I'm cool.
- 6:47Yeah, just get the payday and bounce. I think the second knockdown was ruled a slip, wasn't
- 6:53it?
- 6:54Or am I tripping? No, I think it was definitely ruled a slip or if he fell over his feet or
- 7:00something.
- 7:01There was a slip in there, yeah.
- 7:03Yeah, but I mean, either way, like the cards were against him. I mean, that's the thing
- 7:08too, like when you fight Canelo, literally the cards are always going to be against you,
- 7:11unless you're Bevel. But the cards are always against you. Everything's not in your favor.
- 7:17So for John Ryder to even still go the distance, only breathing through his mouth, probably
- 7:20swallowing a fuck ton of blood. I mean, it kind of paints a picture of like, all right,
- 7:25who's Canelo fight next? And like, you know, how does it go? Like if it's um...
- 7:30He really wants Bevel. He wants Bevel next is what he keeps saying. Yeah, he was saying
- 7:34in the post fight, like I want it, I want to run back Bevel, 175, he can pick the location,
- 7:42size of the gloves or like all the stipulations, same stipulations that we had before, I want
- 7:47to do it again.
- 7:48Dude, that reminds me, I saw a comment about Bevel just like commenting on Cal, one of
- 7:53the rematch and he had like kind of like a stark ear mark a little bit. I'm trying to
- 7:57find it real fast. There was something about how like, Bevel, if he fought him at 168,
- 8:02it'd be better for Bevel because that way he could take his belts and he was saying
- 8:06how like, if he fights him again at 175, what's the challenge for him?
- 8:10That's true. That was at a... almost, it was in the immediate aftermath of the first fight,
- 8:17that's when he said that, was like, because he said like, I walk around about 180, so
- 8:23getting down to 68, it's not going to be a problem for me. Right. So there you like,
- 8:29I would, I think that would actually make it a little bit more intriguing. It would
- 8:34make it more competitive, but I still would favor Canelo with that, especially after just
- 8:38like the Triple G fight and now the John Rider fight. I just don't have high favors no matter
- 8:44what weight is in that Canelo beats Bevel. In the weeks leading up to and the immediate
- 8:51post-fight shows that we did, including our MMA show, we talked about specifically David
- 8:59Morrell and David Benavides. Those two guys are both like number one contenders with interim
- 9:06and regular belts. So those guys are first in line and Ryder was also an interim, like
- 9:15a mandatory number one contender. So those two guys are like, they're not John Ryder.
- 9:22John Ryder is absolutely not on this level. John Ryder, I just, I had to say it like just
- 9:27a gatekeeper. He's pretty mid, super mid. He's the same way, like I was kind of saying
- 9:35how Kayla Plant is. He's just going to be like right now a high paid gatekeeper. Probably
- 9:41not going to win a title ever, but just be a million dollar gatekeeper. That's where
- 9:45it comes down to.
- 9:47Yeah. For the exercise that we have coming up in a little bit, Ryder is included in part
- 9:53of that. Yeah, because like he's, cause he is that, that level of guy. Plant is in the
- 10:01same conversation. So let's move down here to number three. We got Terrence Crawford.
- 10:09That's always a hot topic too. I know. I put in the blurb that like, this is not my choice
- 10:16of the top, of the top two welterweights that we have of the current generation. He's not
- 10:22my favorite. I don't think, I think that he is the second best, which is considering who
- 10:28you're up against. That's not at all a fault. That's not a demerit to be second best.
- 10:34No, not at all.
- 10:36Nonetheless, the guy has a really good body of work from 35 and 40, but like 40 was at
- 10:45that time, the, the, I think Postal was like the only really good fight that he had. Indongo
- 10:52was funny. Like that was a funny meme just because of his name, but yeah. So like what
- 10:59I put here is that his run from his undisputed run at 40, like was, it was so easy. Like
- 11:07you have to wonder is the division shit, which kind of yes, or is it that Crawford's just
- 11:13so fucking good. Also yes.
- 11:16It's that kind of double edged sword. Cause I mean, the division still has a half retired
- 11:20Kellbrook in it. It makes you wonder like what really is the competition besides Earl Spence
- 11:26and I mean, even that one's a hot take too. It's like, is he ducking Spence or like what's
- 11:31the holdup now?
- 11:33Uh, yeah. I will, I'm, I'm firm in the Spence camp, so I'm going to stand by that Crawford
- 11:42is the problem, but you know, he's had a little bit of like Diva issues before.
- 11:47Yeah. I mean, like I said, in a division where you have half done Kellbrook and fully steroided
- 11:53Amir Khan in it, it's like, I'm sure you're number one, but at like, you know, what's
- 11:59the weight of that? I think we were fighting.
- 12:03Yes. Okay. So originally when I only had nine, Inoue was fourth firm. Once I got that last,
- 12:15the last ballot, he, now it's a tie. So I kept Inoue on top. I feel like Inoue is kind
- 12:22of just like, there's no argument. Like he's there. He really just, yeah. What can you
- 12:26say? Yeah. He started at 105, no shit. And look, he's still laying guys out like 20 pounds
- 12:36later. That's fucking ridiculous. Just like being 105 pounds. Like that's gotta be insane,
- 12:41dude. I can't like, I can't remember the last time I was doing anywhere near that weight.
- 12:45Oh goodness. The day, like the day I arrived at bootcamp, I was, I'm six feet tall. I weighed
- 12:57118. And so you were like, what 18 at the time? 17. 17. There you go. Like what's 105
- 13:07then? Like what age is that as a grown man? Young teenagers, maybe. Yeah. Not much more
- 13:14you can say. So, but one thing I did want to point out was the first four are or were
- 13:20undisputed champions. Right. Whatever that counts. And number five, Errol Spence. I mean,
- 13:31I could see it. I don't really have much against it either. Like Spence isn't ducking fights
- 13:35or really anything like that. Like his resume isn't like terrible either. Like comparing
- 13:42him to Crawford, they both fought Porter. They both fought, did Crawford fight you guys
- 13:47too? I don't remember. No, Kellbrooke. No, he didn't. Kellbrooke. Yeah. They both fought
- 13:51Brooke. They both fought Porter. I mean, I feel like their resumes are similar, but I
- 13:56feel like Spence is kind of more what the smoke versus Crawford is. Yes. Yes, he is.
- 14:01I mean, I'm just being biased too because I like Spence more. No, I don't think it's
- 14:06really wrong to say that Spence has been more in the mix of things. It also helps being
- 14:10in the PBC family that you have access to the better welterweights. So a little bit
- 14:18of lack of access for Crawford, but also maybe don't sign an extension with Top Rank. Yeah,
- 14:26I thought Crawford signed to that, what was it, BLK or something? Yeah, BLK Prime. I forgot
- 14:32about that. That shit house deal. Oh, yeah. Broner. They signed Broner to like a $10 million
- 14:39contract. God bless anyone paying Broner $10 million. No kidding. Like get after a Broner.
- 14:46Okay. Maybe, maybe it'll come back eventually, but that's neither here or there. No, the
- 14:53next two tied for sixth, but they are stacked the same way they would have been before that
- 14:58final ballot. Bevil at number six. Yeah, Whoopin Canelo really raises your profile to say the
- 15:08least. It does. It does. But has he done enough though to earn a spot on Copper Pound? At
- 15:14least in that position at number six. Yeah, he's been at 75 his entire career as far as
- 15:19I know, since I've been keeping track of him. He's been at 75. And yeah, the names haven't
- 15:26been the best. Better Be Of definitely has a better resume for sure. And has the hardware
- 15:33too. Yeah, I mean, what's his notable wins are Joe Smith Jr., Canelo and I don't know
- 15:41if you want to call Ramirez a notable win, but Jean Pascal wasn't a bad one either. Yeah,
- 15:49yeah. What year was that? Because that does make a difference when we're talking about
- 15:54an older guy like Pascal. Pascal was in 2018, I think. Not the worst. I don't know, like
- 16:03he, I want to put Bevil on a Copper Pound spot because I am a big fan and I'm watching his
- 16:08career. But at the same time, like yes, the Canelo win definitely puts you up there, but
- 16:14the rest of your resume isn't that exciting either. Yeah, I think it's that like, honeymoon
- 16:21phase where he just beat the guy. So now he must be some some kind of elite talent. So
- 16:29so here's a hot take into the first four were like, you know, Undisputed Champions, you
- 16:34know, is the reason we have guys like Bevil on here who haven't really done too much?
- 16:39Is the reason we have Mondes because we don't have enough champions who have done enough?
- 16:44That's a good question. I'd have to really think about it. That would definitely get
- 16:52you thinking. But like I said, like I do like Bevil, I think his win over Canelo definitely
- 16:58shot him up there. But really, was that enough to crack even like number 10 on the list?
- 17:02Maybe 10. That's being generous. But yeah, if the group vote him at six, who am I to
- 17:09vote for? Well, what I was, what I thought about him, like I feel like his legacy is
- 17:21going to be tied not to Canelo like that. Anyone who's in the know, you know that you
- 17:27knew that that was pretty much Bevil's fight to lose. Right, even if you didn't want to
- 17:35let yourself believe it. Rematch, same thing. His legacy as far as the sport is concerned
- 17:43is tied to BetterBF. Those are the two. It's not just entirely about the undisputed fight.
- 17:53That makes it really cool. Like for me, being a fucking nerd, that makes it great. But those
- 17:59are the two people that are at the top of the division. If they don't fight each other,
- 18:05like BetterBF is about 40. He does not have a lot of time left. Bevil is still pretty
- 18:09young. He could let BetterBF retire and then just kind of sweep up the belts against whoever
- 18:17grabs him. This is his division for the taking once BetterBF is gone. So here's that thing
- 18:26with whole like, with BetterBF getting old, it brings that conundrum of like, now if Bevil
- 18:32beats him, there's gonna be a couple things. Is he an old man? Oh yeah, you beat up an
- 18:36old BetterBF. It's the same shit when I'm kind of old with Triple G. It's like, oh,
- 18:40you beat up a grandpa Triple G. I think the age thing is kind of shitty. But I mean, it
- 18:45plays a factor though, because like, yeah, BetterBF is old. Like that is gonna be a factor.
- 18:50If he wasn't, to me, 40 is when you start getting into that like age is a really big
- 18:56consideration. At the higher weights, it's like getting up in the like to the mid late
- 19:0230s is not as big of a deal. You think that depends on weight class too though? Yeah,
- 19:10absolutely. Like, you know, everyone's favorite joke, how old is Luis Ortiz? But you know,
- 19:16he's not the only old older heavyweight. He's not. Wilder's getting close to 40. Tyson
- 19:24Fury is too. I forgot Wilder's like 37. Yeah, he's old, older, but older but Wilder doesn't
- 19:32have a lot of mileage on him. Granted, his resume was a lot of taxi drivers, of course,
- 19:36but his most of his mileage.
- 19:49Yeah, to me at the higher weights, it scales with the with the weight classes. Like if
- 19:59you're at 115, and you're like Estrada or Gonzales, you're in your like early 30s. You're
- 20:07ancient for those divisions. But not quite the same thing when you start scaling up.
- 20:18But let's continue here. Tied for six, Jermel, excuse me, Jermel Charlo. I think this is
- 20:28criminally low to me. I really so hot take I actually never really follow this career
- 20:35all that well. So my opinion on him is like, kind of like again, I never really follow
- 20:40this career too much to really have an opinion on him. I would be talking on my ass if I
- 20:44really said I had too much to say about Charlo. Let me let's go through his resume real quick.
- 20:51Even just even if we just talk about who he snagged the belts off of. Right. Excuse me.
- 21:03He won vacant WBC in 2016 against John Jackson. Can't say I know who that is. Yeah, right.
- 21:14First defense against Charles Hattley. Kind of remember this. But next was that dynamite
- 21:22first round knockout of Ericsson Lubin. The highlight reel. Yep. Next up, Austin Trout.
- 21:30This is a like about to be about the beginning of the end, if not, like the first chapter
- 21:38of the end of the book for Austin Trout. He lost to Tony Harrison. That one I do remember.
- 21:46That was a whole entire. Yeah, it was. It was really close. I think I think that's what
- 21:53made it so controversial, I guess. Let's see. Koda. That was a knockout. Quick little comeback
- 22:00or a little get back and then rematch Harrison for the win. Right. Then he faces Jason Rosario.
- 22:08Then Costano after that twice. Costano. Yeah. Which to me, that's more a testament to Costano
- 22:17than it is a demerit to Charlo. But Rosario, just like to put him into a little bit of
- 22:25context, he he snagged the belts, IBF and WBA. He snagged those off of J-Rock, Julian
- 22:34Williams. Right. And then he fought Jermell. Then that weird like jab to the gut knockout.
- 22:45And after that, like he's kind of faded into the sunset here. It just fell off the table.
- 22:52Yeah, it's a kind it actually does take a little bit of the value away from the loss
- 22:57from the win for Charlo, I mean. Whereas like Harrison went on to have he's had a decent
- 23:06career still. Yeah, I know Harrison still in like still around. I know he just lost to
- 23:13Tim Teeser though pretty badly. Yes. But Charlo at tied for sixth. Do you think that's do
- 23:24you think that's too high? Too low? I think it's too low. Yeah, just based off his like
- 23:30his resume, I think it's too low. Yeah, like his his resume is better than Terrence Crawford's.
- 23:35Right. Yeah. I mean, I wish I followed his career a little more, sad for say on it, but
- 23:40kind of just going through it and just like being in a mix of conversation about it. I'd
- 23:45say he definitely belonged. He should be higher up on the list. Yeah. Like his resume is probably
- 23:50better than Bevel. Yeah, literally better than Bevel. And that's a shade thing though, kind
- 23:56of going back to it. The only reason if we're being honest, the only reason Bevel is really
- 23:59on there is because of his Canelo win. His spot is cemented because of the Canelo one.
- 24:05Absolutely. That anybody who's ever seen him fight before could say clearly that this dude
- 24:12has serious talent, very, very skilled operator. He has that like that Soviet style of boxing,
- 24:19like no shit. But like he's really, really good. Anybody who has any semblance of understanding
- 24:27of the sport would already know that. Not sure why it took Canelo for them to figure
- 24:32that out. I still don't know. Like, I think from the jump, everyone kind of gave Canelo
- 24:40like some kind of hope. But like as the rounds went on, that hope depleted so fast. Yeah,
- 24:45my pseudo-hopium, I think like round three, I'm like, yeah, nevermind. I'm done. I'm done
- 24:53pretending. This is a wash. Yeah, this is, fuck it. Let's phone it in. Oh, so that reminds
- 24:59me actually, I saw this a while back, I think like a year, no, no, no, not a year ago. It
- 25:04was a few months after the fight with them, people. It was saying how like, Reynoso's
- 25:09guys like Valdez and Canelo, like Reynoso's great when his guys are winning, but when
- 25:15his guys are losing, the hot take is that Reynoso isn't like, you know, that great.
- 25:20Like, he doesn't really give any instruction. Like when Shakur was whooping Valdez's ass,
- 25:25there was really nothing from Reynoso other than just stay alive. And same thing with
- 25:30Canelo. Like when Vivo was kind of whooping Canelo, Reynoso just, I feel like you didn't
- 25:35have much advice for him besides stay alive. Don't get knocked out. So that is a hot take
- 25:39I heard about a while back. Interesting. Does it hold true? I don't really know. But, I
- 25:45know now that I've heard it and I kind of like watched those fights, I'm like, yeah,
- 25:49I mean, there was no really like a change in like strategy for Valdez or Canelo in those
- 25:54losing fights. Yeah, for the Vivo loss, that one I did see, I was able to hear like firsthand,
- 26:03like you're not helping him. What are you doing? What are you, what is he paying you
- 26:08for? Dude, that's just like Tio's dad. Knock him the fuck out, bro. What are you doing?
- 26:14Yo, yeah. I mean, Freddie Roach with like the famous like we need the knockouts on.
- 26:19Come on. That worked like one time maybe ever. But. Humble brag for Valdez Stevenson. I was
- 26:29in the arena. So yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. I didn't have very good seats. It was in the press
- 26:34row. So it wasn't very good. I'm sure the amateur was still fun though. Yeah, it was
- 26:40really, really fun. I was surprised at how much fan base Stevenson had in the arena.
- 26:47I wasn't expecting that much. That's like another hot topic we can hit on later is like
- 26:52Stevenson's like popularity. Because I do remember when he beat Valdez, he was like,
- 26:56oh, I'm on pound for pound. And I was like, whoa, slow down, tiger. Yeah. Yeah, we'll
- 27:04get to him in a second. Gervonta Davis at number eight. Oh, I knew someone was coming
- 27:11actually. Yeah, I want to put Tank on it so bad. Like he is exciting and everything. And
- 27:19his resume isn't even that terrible actually. It's not bad. I think he's about proper maybe
- 27:23six to eight range, maybe five, I guess. Yeah. I mean, I wish he had some more belts on or
- 27:31under his belt for lack of better puns. But I think Tank deserves a spot. I would say
- 27:38like a high spot. Not really, but from what he said, six to eight. Yeah, about six to
- 27:42eight. I agree with that. Yeah, there's really not much argument that like he is exciting,
- 27:47solid resume. He whooped Garcia, whooped Hector Garcia. I know Romero wasn't exactly a big
- 27:53competitor, but that was definitely a fun fight to watch. How good that win is will remain,
- 27:58we remains to be seen, like since he's coming up. I think he Davis might also he being a
- 28:08PBC guy, there's people are certain a certain segment of the fan base is always going to
- 28:14try to find a way to discredit him. I think it's partly that it's he's a victim of his
- 28:18own success. He's just he's a much more intelligent fighter than people think just because like,
- 28:26you know, he isn't very eloquent. But like he showed that he showed it more than anything
- 28:32against Ryan Garcia, the first knockdown that was fucking pure and pure intelligence. And
- 28:39how beauty Yeah, and how he finished a fight was same thing was just IQ. So side note on
- 28:46that one. Do you think Ryan quit? I'm torn on this one, to be honest with you. That's
- 28:56what the heavy side is, is like, I'm not, I'm not sure. Because like I've being in the
- 29:03military, like you learn how you have to fight each other like for training, you know what
- 29:08I mean? Like, yeah, you have to actually do it. So I really know what it's like to get
- 29:13hit somewhere on your body. And then your, your brain, your brain commanding yourself
- 29:20to move is not working. But at the same time, something that made it kind of questionable
- 29:31was almost immediately after the ref waved his hands, he gets up almost immediately.
- 29:37He got up and was walking around so filing. Exactly. That's what makes me question it.
- 29:42Like, I mean, if you want to just duck, like you just want to, you know, like I got nothing.
- 29:47This guy hits really hard and I can't land anything. Like, there's no more. I can't do
- 29:52anything. So what's the point? I think if Ryan hadn't like, I know it's all business,
- 29:59of course, you know, it's media, but if Ryan hadn't talked all that shit, I'd kind of give
- 30:04him kind of a pass like, all right, you found the hard way that you know, take it's hard.
- 30:09He's better than you thought. But like, to talk all that shit, and then pretty much,
- 30:14I'm going to say he quit. I mean, I hate to say it, but I'm gonna say he did. I'm gonna
- 30:17talk all that shit. Yeah, and then quit. I feel like you can lose some credibility and
- 30:22some respect. Like I know they talk shit for the media, but I don't know. I just I think
- 30:27talking all that shit and then ultimately quitting just kind of lose a lot of credibility.
- 30:34Yeah. If he's gonna want to do that, he's gonna have to learn how to sell the quote
- 30:40unquote pain a little better. Yeah, I mean, like you said, he got a fucking like a spring
- 30:46chicken on his feet again, as soon as the ref waved it off. He's like, right, I got
- 30:49paid. I'm done. I didn't get knocked out. Like, yeah, they were saying they were saying
- 30:54that like, I haven't followed it too much. But they're saying he had like a bruised
- 30:58rib going into the fight. There was like a mole in this camp or some shit. And it's kind
- 31:02of like, if all that's true, but like, either way, bro, like the fights done, you lost like
- 31:07what you say now isn't gonna change anything. Yeah, then it just turns into like excuses.
- 31:13Which it to me, I would say excuses are worse than quitting. 100% I mean, if you're gonna
- 31:20quit, like, that's fine. Whatever. Like, own it. Maybe you talk some shit, whatever. But
- 31:26I think just owners he had tried so hard to like, make himself seem like he was better
- 31:32than he really was. But in reality, he just found the hard way that like, maybe boxing
- 31:37is not for him. Like, is he fast and flashy? Yeah, but like, I think I'm gonna tell you
- 31:43now. I think his win over Luke Campbell, he got lucky. Lucky body shot. Sure, like, was
- 31:49it maybe well timed? Okay, yeah. But he got knocked out. Not knocked out. Sorry, he got
- 31:54knocked down that Luke Campbell fight. He got up and just probably went for the gusto
- 31:59and got lucky with that body shot. But if he got knocked down again, that Luke Campbell
- 32:02fight, like you think you would quit? I don't know. Good question. I don't know. I just
- 32:08I just think I like Ryan. He's flashy. He's fun to watch. But I just don't think like,
- 32:15he's ever gonna really be a champion. He can't. The heel roll is isn't for him. Like, because
- 32:23he's he's handsome. And he's like a flashy social media star. Like, dude, play play that
- 32:28up. Oscar De La Hoya did it fucking perfectly. Just do that. But the problem was that it
- 32:34was actually good though. Yeah, right. That's kind of the problem. Like, dude, Ryan can
- 32:40be good because he's still so young. But it's a matter of, I guess like how serious does
- 32:44he take it? Like, everyone looks good hitting the bag. Everyone looks good hitting pads.
- 32:49Like, it all looks good for social media. But like, we saw him push came to shove. Like,
- 32:54it's awesome. You challenge yourself to a big fight with tank. But it also seems like
- 32:58you kind of backed out like when you got punched and said, Okay, fuck this fight's not for
- 33:02me. Yeah, this is that hurt a little more than normal. Like, like I give him his props.
- 33:08He got knocked down the second got right back up. Yeah, I feel like those in between rounds
- 33:13like after that he was just treading water and kind of looking to his corner like, yo,
- 33:16what the fuck do I do? And Goosen had no advice there. All Goosen did was just dress nice.
- 33:22Yeah, nice is a relative term here. Nice is putting it lightly. I'm not too keen on his
- 33:29fashion sense. And we just had that discussion a few days ago and in the discord. But a little
- 33:35bit more on Ryan Garcia and if this sport is for him later. Yeah, for sure. Number nine
- 33:44are to better be if he and people I think should be swapped where they landed. Yeah,
- 33:51better be if has a better resume. For sure. There's not much really go about that really
- 33:55better be a never dropped anybody. Better resume just Yeah, I think he earns a spot
- 34:01to where people is and people should be where he is in like the ladder editor list. Right.
- 34:05Yeah, the only thing that I put like here worth mentioning is that father time remains
- 34:10undefeated. So like, getting into the ring with people. He needs to do that sooner rather
- 34:17than later because he's not getting younger. And people is going to continue being as good
- 34:22as he is. See, if he was not getting any worse. Yeah, exactly. He's going to continue being
- 34:27good. Excellent. If not improving, which seems kind of weird, like, because he's at like
- 34:33a 99.9% excellence rate. Okay, number 10. Shakur Stevenson. Oh, yeah, this one. I don't
- 34:44like Stevenson here. I would have put a full time. Yeah, cool boy stuff. Yeah, he has the
- 34:50wins. Like Stevenson, you have Valdez who has proven to be kind of lame. Yeah, Valdez
- 34:59was fucking cheats as well. Oh, Stevenson. I want to like him. Well, not so long time
- 35:07if that makes sense. Not yet. At least. I do like him. He seems like like he seems like
- 35:13the most well rounded of the like the lightweight crop. But like you can't not mention the lack
- 35:24of power you really can't, especially when you have a guy like tank walking around in
- 35:30the same division as you. Yeah, the lack of power. And this is why I bring up when people
- 35:38say Shakur versus Haney would be a great fight. I'm like, it really wouldn't be though. Like,
- 35:43for a boxing like just pure standpoint, would it be like very scientific and like, highly
- 35:49technical? Yeah. Yeah, but it's gonna be boring. A lot of punches thrown between them probably.
- 35:55I mean, this is a hypothetical extreme example. We'll probably like 100 punches thrown between
- 35:59them the first six rounds. That's it reminds me of that meme. Oh, fuck. I'm thinking of
- 36:07that. But either way, it just seems gonna be both of them just circling each other.
- 36:10Throwing a shit jab here and there. And that's pretty much it. What's up fellas? Oh, what's
- 36:20going on, man? Sorry, I'm fashionably late. Oh, perfect timing though. Yeah, perfect,
- 36:27perfect timing. Well, you're just talking about my favorite hypothetical fight. Haney
- 36:32Stevenson? Oh, dude, I have mad insomnia and I need to eat either a THG vape or a melatonin
- 36:40gummy and if they just made that fight, I think I could cut both out of my life and
- 36:45I could just play that on replay. Thank you, brother. Thank you. Because that fight will
- 36:50be a fucking snoozefest. Yeah, I can only really talk about it from the, excuse me,
- 36:56the quote unquote purist perspective. Like you really, really have to love the highly
- 37:03technical minutia of the sport to appreciate that one more than you would tank Garcia.
- 37:12100%. I mean, don't get me wrong, even like, I was never a high level boxer for just like
- 37:19being in the ring and stuff. Like I'll definitely appreciate that fight, but I know it's not
- 37:23a fight I'm ever going to want to like have replay value with. That makes sense. I mean,
- 37:29if you're not watching it in reverse quarter speed upside down with the volume off in black
- 37:36and white only, then are you even really a boxing fan? Exactly. All right. So that's
- 37:45going to cut, that's going to do it for that. Making good time here. All right. Let's kick
- 37:52it off with these interesting fights to make in certain divisions. Let's do it. It's important
- 38:00to note for the listener who cannot see this, these are not including like your top tier
- 38:08guys like Shakur versus tank or Ryan Garcia versus fucking Devin Haney or, you know, or
- 38:17Spence versus Crawford. That's not what we're talking about here. Cause those fights are
- 38:22always going to be amazing to at least to talk about and probably going to deliver in
- 38:28the ring. Whereas there's still that crop beneath that, like that B tier. And that's
- 38:36where we're going to be doing our work today. Okay. You know, I want to start at super middle
- 38:44weight, which is at the bottom of the list, but the six names that I picked, John Ryder,
- 38:51Demetrius Andre, Christian and Billy, Kayla Plant, Bekhtamir Malakuziev aka Bekhtabuli
- 39:00and Diego Pacheco. Can we throw in an honorable mention of Billy Saunders? Recently unretired.
- 39:09Sure. Yeah. Let's put them in there. I will have to say, like if there was ever an indictment
- 39:19on the lower, the lower rungs of the top 10 or top 15 of a division, it would be this
- 39:25list. It's not rough. Yes, it is. It's a rough list. It is. Well, hold on. Let me, I got
- 39:37to crack another beer on this one. Also full bias. I do have a signed Billy Joe Saunders
- 39:42boxing gloves, but that's a side story. What? Yeah. Oh, you can't drop that. Yeah. Why?
- 39:49Where? Where? When? Why? So, um, this was like, this was a while back. Um, I saw this
- 39:56guy on Instagram, which sells like boxing memorabilia from the UK. And he put a picture
- 40:01of like Billy Saunders, like signing gloves and he was like, Oh no, we're selling these
- 40:04X, Y, and Z. I was like, dude, fuck it. Like I'll buy one, whatever. And that's pretty
- 40:09much it. I just bought it. It comes with like the signed glove with Saunders, um, a photograph
- 40:14of him, like, like a certificate of authenticity kind of. Yeah. Yeah. And that's pretty much
- 40:19it. Like it's, it's pretty cool. Definitely pay a lot of money for it more than I should
- 40:22have, but it's a nice memorabilia. Billy Joe Saunders though. Listen, dude, I saw it and
- 40:29I was like, fuck it, man. I like watching Billy. Cause like when I was boxing, um, I
- 40:33took a lot of my just like style and inspiration from Saunders, how just like, how slick he
- 40:37is and just, so I don't say an orthodox, but just like, you know, the hands down, just
- 40:43the quick movements. What you'd expect from like a Philly fighter, a slick New York or
- 40:50Philly fighter. Exactly. So I took a lot of my like inspiration from him. Granted like,
- 40:55you know, boxing aside, yeah, he's kind of a prick. A little bit funny here and there.
- 40:59Not gonna lie. He has his moments. Yeah. But yeah, I took a lot of my style from him. So
- 41:04I was like, you know what? I like the guy a lot. I'll get a signed glove from him. Like
- 41:07why not? But that's pretty much it. Not much more exciting to it. I didn't like meet him
- 41:11at a bar or something and said, Hey, can you sign this? I carry a boxing glove with me
- 41:15at all times. Um, so I was right. So when you have, I think the appropriate nickname
- 41:26for guys like that is supposed to be like white chocolate. Yeah. Is that that one kid?
- 41:33Yeah, there is. There is a white chocolate in the UK right now. I think he's in the UK.
- 41:40All right. But let's get to it. Um, in BLE recently, like I want to say like a month
- 41:46and a half, two months ago, he was on a ESPN card, ESPN plus, and he got into a fucking
- 41:54war with Carlos Cogorra. This guy has a gas tank. Holy shit. He has a gas tank and he
- 42:04go, he swings for the fences. He does not stop. He is relentless. So it's easy to say
- 42:11that like, I would say Andre, just cause I really don't like him. And I would like someone
- 42:19for someone to beat him up, but I'm not entirely certain on in BLE. So with that being said,
- 42:28do you think in BLE versus plant we could fight? It's the same situation as like Saunders,
- 42:35Andre or plant like the in BLE is not as mobile as they are. That's, that's why John writers
- 42:43got to be perfect for him, right? Yeah. That's someone who's going to try and stick to him
- 42:46like blue and try and just, you know, he's tough enough to where, well, maybe I just
- 42:53had a very bad vision of in BLE stopping Ryder when Canelo couldn't, but we're going to table
- 43:01that discussion. Ideally, ideally Ryder could stick with him for 12 rounds and they could
- 43:06slug it out and they could, you know, it'd be a, it could be a very entertaining fight.
- 43:12If they stick in the center of the ring and slug it out, that, that would actually be
- 43:16something fun to watch. I mean, if it's a slug fudge we're going for, I would say, you
- 43:21know, Beck the bully in a BLE. I was going to say Beck the bully. I, he said, he kept
- 43:28saying in the promotion leading up to his rematch with Rosado, it was a lucky punch.
- 43:33You know, he got me, take nothing away from it, but he's not going to do it again. And
- 43:39I think in BLE either Gungoro is his like skull is made out of like adamantium or Beck
- 43:47or in BLE doesn't have that much power either way. I think Beck, Beck the bully is going
- 43:54to stand right in his face and in BLE is going to be there for it. Pacheco is a good option
- 43:59too for that, for that same type of situation. Yeah. I think those matchups sound pretty
- 44:05interesting to watch honestly. They'll probably all be bangers. Not going to lie. Yeah. Literally.
- 44:12Andreid versus Saunders. That was supposed to happen. It wasn't. Yeah. Yeah. That was
- 44:19a, they, I felt like that was scheduled for a middleweight fight like three or four years
- 44:23ago. Yeah. Andreid was moving up from 54. He was, he had, I think the WBO belt and then
- 44:29he moved up to 60, which in the WBO rules, the lower weight champion gets like immediate
- 44:37first dibs at the current champion in the division that he's moving to. Right. And then
- 44:42Billy got popped for PED. That's why we call him boss. Did he pretend to have like a mental
- 44:47health meltdown or does, is that just, is that the other traveler? I don't think Saunders,
- 44:52I don't think Saunders knows what that is honestly. If we're being honest, like you
- 44:56ever hear the guy talk just how much of a dick he is, I don't think he knows what that
- 45:01is. Yeah. Well, you'd think Tyson Fury doesn't either, wouldn't either given how much of
- 45:05a jackass he can be, but. I bet that was his first introduction to mental health is when
- 45:16Tyson Fury said he was going through some stuff and he's like, oh, I get it now. If
- 45:22I. Okay, so I find it right here. Sorry, go ahead. If I pop for performance enhancing
- 45:28drugs, I could just say that I'm in a dark place and step away from the sport. So if
- 45:35I do a lot of cocaine and almost drive my car off a bridge, there's my out. Just mental
- 45:41health. So Billy got popped for that PEDs and he got shipped for a WBO against the Andrade
- 45:50and I just saw the article Frank Warren said the use of a common decongestant nasal spray
- 45:57trigger the positive test. Was it a Dillion White that a pre-workout that he picked up
- 46:06at GNC or something is what made him pop for PEDs one time? I think for decongestant, maybe
- 46:16because I know that isn't that stuff used to make meth. I have no idea. I'm not sure
- 46:22what's in it. I only know this from watching. I watching Breaking Bad. That's the only reason
- 46:27I know this. Oh, love Breaking Bad. Yeah. Okay. Before we continue either within this
- 46:35division or moving to a different one, we need to settle on a pronunciation here for
- 46:40Andrade. I've heard a lot of different ways. Like there was this lady that fought in the
- 46:46UFC, I think last weekend. Her name is Andrade. It's spelled exactly the same. If we were
- 46:54pronouncing this name in Spanish, it would be Andrade. Andrade. Plus you did strip. So
- 47:01I thought it was, I thought it always was Andrade just based off interviews and stuff,
- 47:04but if I'm wrong, please correct me. What makes me think that it's Andrade is because
- 47:09like he's, he's a black American. So like that's probably how it would be pronounced
- 47:15there. Has anyone ever heard David Diamante pronounce his name? That's the final answer.
- 47:20Fuck you're right. Holy shit. That's probably going to be our answer. And he will confirm
- 47:24it after he tells you. He will confirm it for you right then and there. God. Yeah, I'm
- 47:32going to look for this immediately when we're done. That's going to be our answer honestly.
- 47:37I feel like I've heard people pronounce it like Andrade. Yeah. And I heard that too.
- 47:43I feel like even fight commentators have said that. And typically they, yeah, they typically
- 47:49they get it right. Well, let's ask Chris Mannix because he's like his towel boy or something.
- 47:55Okay. What division we want to do next. We got light. We got 35, 40 and 47. Light. All
- 48:05right. 35. Okay. No champions here. We have Ken Bosos, Isaac Cruz, Frank Martin, Michelle
- 48:15Rivera, Yoshino, that dude that Stevenson just beat up and Williams have paid up. War Bosos.
- 48:24War Bosos. He like he might not like he got he beat Teofimo like the stars aligned for
- 48:30him and then you know he got the fights with Haney and got taken to school. Yes, he obviously
- 48:38doesn't belong on that level. But I feel like these guys here could make for some interesting
- 48:44fights for him. I think Frank Martin would just wreck his lights out. Yeah. I think Rivera
- 48:54wouldn't actually be a terrible fight for him. Yeah. Kind of got exposed as being a
- 48:58tier below or Yoshino either Yoshino also yeah he he's durable but also does Shakur
- 49:07really have power or not. But nonetheless Yoshino stayed like he tries to get in the
- 49:13pocket and stay there. So that's yeah that'll make for an exciting fight with anybody. Especially
- 49:20for Ken Bosos he thrives off of the counterpunch right like that's really all he looks for
- 49:25it sometimes. So that would hopefully you would think give him a lot of openings to
- 49:31maybe do a little bit of work and actually be exciting. See I want to throw a hot take
- 49:37here. I like War Bosos because he like he's got some heart bro like he'll stand there
- 49:41and fight like we saw with Teofimo Lopez he was afraid to trade with him. Obviously we
- 49:46didn't see it much with Haney just based off the fight styles but I'm definitely gonna
- 49:50watch them in War Bosos fight because I think he is kind of exciting to watch. Granted he
- 49:53might be kind of shit but he'll play on our show. I think a lot of the dislike comes from
- 49:59he's like he kind of believed his own hype a little bit too much. When he beat Teofimo
- 50:07he was like this must mean that I am like the king dingling of 135 and then Devin Haney
- 50:14gets gets called up for the mandatory. But now isn't the same thing that happened to
- 50:21Lopez when he beat Loma to leave his own hype. Yes. 100%. Absolutely. That's what's maybe
- 50:31a quick aside here. That's what's so hard about these underdog stories is like I don't
- 50:36think there's really any story out there where the underdog like goes on to have an illustrious
- 50:42championship career. They typically get put back in their place and you know it's like
- 50:49I don't know if that's just the pressure of handling that kind of an upset and like or
- 50:56if it's just they were never that good to begin with and they just like you said the
- 51:00stars aligned. Maybe this isn't the best example but point counterpoint of an underdog coming
- 51:08for the spot and retiring on top Juan Manuel Marquez knocks out Manny Pacquiao in their
- 51:16fourth fight. Oh yes. Marquez and Manny. That he's not Marquez is a fucking legend in his
- 51:23own regard that he but in the in the terms of like the that generation with Mayweather
- 51:30Pacquiao Cotto like Cotto and Marquez fucking two sides of the coin there. They were they're
- 51:39extremely good and they would be like generational elite if they were in a generation without
- 51:45Mayweather and Pacquiao and Margarito I guess for Cotto's sake. I could agree with that.
- 51:55So that's to me Marquez he's obviously really really good so he's not necessarily an underdog
- 52:01but in the context of Pacquiao. I have to bring up any time I can. Marquez knocked Pacquiao
- 52:10out and Pacquiao is a sixth division champion not eight. I mean it's a sight we're never
- 52:16gonna forget just and Manny laid out. Did you see that video I posted in Discord of it's
- 52:23like 10 or 15 minutes of fan reactions like they're recording the like they have all their
- 52:29friends and family to watch it and like it switches it goes from Filipino family to Mexican
- 52:35family to Filipino family to Mexican. It's so funny. Oh my God. It's so funny. It is
- 52:42so funny. It feels like it's like righteous justice for me. I went to the Philippines
- 52:50after the third fight which a lot of people think Marquez won including me. So I was there
- 52:57and we're sitting there and of course Manny Pacquiao comes up because Philippines and
- 53:03I was like oh so should I not tell all of my you know my Filipino military counterparts.
- 53:11I am a big Marquez fan. Wrong place wrong time. Yeah and that one of the one of the
- 53:20American Filipino American soldiers that was with us he told me like kind of on the side
- 53:25of the cake. Don't be too brash about it. You know like this is like you don't understand
- 53:30how big of a deal he is. OK. I'll be cool. But so like we actually did have some fun
- 53:36nuanced discussions about Marquez and Pacquiao and they actually do have a lot of respect
- 53:41for him before the knockout at least after a knockout. Perhaps my favorite one was it
- 53:52was like this big party. I don't know how I got to this guy's table but it was like
- 53:56a Filipino one star army general and we're sitting there like I'm like what the fuck
- 54:02am I doing here. And so we like the boxing comes up. I mentioned that I'm a Marquez fan
- 54:08Mexican Marquez fan. It's like oh man like you know Marquez that's Pacquiao unsolved
- 54:14riddle. I don't know if he'll ever be able to crack it like like crack the code like
- 54:18that. Marquez is just like the perfect foil to him. Like yeah. God damn right he is. Just
- 54:27the biggest girl in your face. Yeah. I was like thank you. Thank you. Like I mean you
- 54:32can't not appreciate Pacquiao even if you are a Marquez fan like the dude's amazing.
- 54:37Oh for sure. Anyway sorry that we're completely off kilter here. Oh good. I mean I guess to
- 54:44go back to the list. He's got Cruz Frank Martin. I was just gonna say that. Um that's a tough
- 54:52call though. That's a tough one though because Frank Martin is like a technician. But he's
- 54:56also like he has the physicality. Cruz might be smaller but he also he's like the Napoleon
- 55:05complex physicality. Dare I say and I'm gonna dare say would that end in a draw possibly
- 55:12the first fight. That could definitely be a fight where early on Martin doesn't have
- 55:20an answer to the aggression. Yeah to his sort of pit bull style. But he I Martin strikes
- 55:29me as the kind of guy he's intelligent enough to make on the fly adjustments. I feel like
- 55:33he should be able to adjust to that but it may come kind of too late to turn the fight
- 55:40around in this favor. That's very possible. I can see that yeah. He is with Derek James.
- 55:47He's in the Derek James camp and like he's also has spent as his like immediate mentor.
- 55:52So that means he has Anthony Joshua in his corner also. So does that mean a Mrs. Amir
- 56:01cons in the corner too. What a wild team that is. Oh goodness. But no I think he's that
- 56:14Cruz and Frank Martin probably just wash anyone on that list except for each other. Rivera
- 56:24I don't know. Like I feel like because we were comparing him to his hot like to the tear above him.
- 56:31Because like that's what people were saying he was going to be. I kind of believe the
- 56:34hype a little bit. But Rivera if we keep him you know don't give him ideas above his own
- 56:42station and look at him maybe boxing a guy like Yoshino or Zepeda. Where he's a little
- 56:50bit more a little bit more slick but still has that like Dominican sort of semi aggressiveness
- 56:58smart intelligent aggressiveness effective. You got a more bosses on here but not a Lord
- 57:05and Savior Keishon Davis. Yeah I wasn't sure because I'm extremely keen on Keishon super
- 57:15super keen on him. So I felt like it would have been a little bit too much of me trying
- 57:20to shoehorn in him beating you know what I mean. I think on one hand if just from in
- 57:27practical speaking practically these are the guys he should be fighting soon. Yeah absolutely.
- 57:33Yeah. Should be in with these guys but just with the way boxing works that probably won't
- 57:38happen at least for another three fights if I had to guess. But in a perfect world we
- 57:43would be seeing him against someone like Campos or you know Yoshino or Zepeda like those are
- 57:49guys that he could theoretically go into next fight and win. Because Bob Arum like the old
- 57:58adage I think it was Floyd Mayweather that said that Bob Arum doesn't know how to promote
- 58:01black fighters. But even if you want to take that aspect out of it like fucking Keishon
- 58:09is super super talented. Yes that's a little bit of my bias speaking but like I don't know
- 58:16why he's being like progressed at the pace of Bob Arum's walking speed. Fucking hurry
- 58:23up this kid has the goods. Yoshino is like perfect. Perfect. That to me is perfect. See
- 58:32I don't know if he's gonna fight Yoshino next because I know him and Shakur are in the
- 58:38same camp like they're boys together and if Shakur just beat Yoshino I don't think they're
- 58:42gonna feed Yoshino to his boy next. Kind of like a punching bag. But I could be wrong.
- 58:47Those top ranked paydays I mean. That's true. The yen will talk. The yen. Yeah. Trying
- 59:00to see what other good fights we got here. Man I'm thinking about Keishon the whole time
- 59:06now I can't not think of someone else. Keishon is my lord and savior. What about Hime Ortiz?
- 59:20He just lost to Loma. Jermaine. Jermaine sorry not Hime. Yeah it's fine. Jermaine Ortiz.
- 59:26That's a good shout. He actually should be on this list. He should be. He actually does
- 59:32a lot of really good fights for him here. Yeah. I think he put up a great fight. Him
- 59:37versus Rivera. Him versus Kambosas. Those are all like great fights for him. I'd like
- 59:44to see him against Zveda. He did. I was a bit surprised. I had to keep reminding myself
- 59:51like Lomachenko's been he was back in Ukraine not even like staying warm. He's just not
- 59:58even training in any way. He's just out in Ukraine you know doing like god bless him.
- 1:00:07So you have to me that's what you have. The context that I needed to keep reminding myself
- 1:00:12of is like okay a year away from everything and you're kind of thrust back into this.
- 1:00:22Which Jermaine did take good advantage of. He gave a good account of himself for sure.
- 1:00:28Yeah that was that fight I think people kind of shunned it because Loma didn't do as good
- 1:00:32as they wanted him to but I think overall that was a really good fight. It was. I guess
- 1:00:36they were like expecting the typical matrix bullshit. Yeah for sure which maybe wasn't
- 1:00:44realistic to expect coming from you know a war zone basically. Literal fucking war. Literally.
- 1:00:51I mean even if he wasn't in combat you can't you know I can't imagine the stress. Yeah
- 1:00:56the mental stress. And then oh hey we're gonna fly you back out now and get in a boxing ring
- 1:01:02you know. That fight with the Hortiz I think was a good kind of like good way for Loma
- 1:01:10to get his feet wet. Yeah. And praying for Amy. It's a good barometer of like how like
- 1:01:14are you do you still got it like are you good do you need more time what's up and that but
- 1:01:20that good performance against Loma Chanko sets up Ortiz to be in into the consideration
- 1:01:27of higher conversations not necessarily like on obscure on televised undercards or something.
- 1:01:33He could be in there with Ken Bosos or Isaac Cruz. I think he mops Ken Bosos all day. Excuse
- 1:01:44me. I'm going to be honest I've only seen Ortiz fight Loma Chanko that's the only fight
- 1:01:52of him I've seen. So I can't say I can't based off that I feel like Ken Bosos has nothing
- 1:01:58better to offer than that. Then I think I did. Well Ken Bosos is sort of he's so limited
- 1:02:05as a as a boxer is like a certain style that someone needs to come at him with in order
- 1:02:11for him to really excel. And I feel like Jemaine could he could keep that fight long range
- 1:02:17enough never let Ken Bosos really get into that sweet spot where he wants to throw that
- 1:02:23kind of overhand right. And you know that's a fight I could easily see him getting you
- 1:02:30know a total landslide in the punch count by the end of it. Yeah I think Ken Bosos thrives
- 1:02:36like in the pocket to exchange but from a distance Ken Bosos is pretty limited as we
- 1:02:41saw Hany do that to him. So with this keeping Jemaine Ortiz in one slot you guys were talking
- 1:02:48about keeping it like keeping at range as his means of thriving. How does that work
- 1:02:53against Isaac Cruz? Relentless. I'm not going to throw Frank Martin in. I honestly think
- 1:03:01Frank Martin would spark him in like four maybe five. We're talking Isaac Cruz versus
- 1:03:08Ken Bosos. Jemaine Ortiz. See that's hard to call because I don't know if we've ever
- 1:03:14seen any we've never seen him respond to that pressure. Yeah. And I don't know I mean I'm
- 1:03:20with you I haven't seen him pass the Loma fight so it's. We'd have to do a little bit
- 1:03:24more. Watch the tape. Watch a little more tape. Yeah I agree that won't be hard to call.
- 1:03:33I guess I'll just come down to like when is he going to crack from the pressure if he
- 1:03:38cracks. Too many unknowns. All right let's move up to 140. The names that I have here.
- 1:03:46Exciting one. The names I have here are Mario Barrios, Teofimo because he's unproven at
- 1:03:53140. Ryan Garcia unproven at 140. Gary Antoine Russell, Raleigh Romero unproven at 140 and
- 1:04:02Jose Ramirez who had he was a unified champion at one point I think. But yeah his flaws were
- 1:04:12like he was exposed I guess to use the buzzword. So there's a little bit of there's a question
- 1:04:20mark on like what tier does he really land in. So he might be a little bit of a wild
- 1:04:24card there. No Josh Taylor. No he has a belt a proper belt. Proper belt. Gotcha. Not for
- 1:04:34long but he does have a belt. See I don't know because can Teo really bang with Josh
- 1:04:39Taylor. That's why he's here like is he really that proven. I don't know. I think. All right
- 1:04:45this is gonna be a hot take again but I think we saw Teo's best on the net against Loma.
- 1:04:52Just gonna throw it out there. Is that the one where everyone said that he started losing
- 1:04:59round seven on. I don't know I don't necessarily agree with you. I don't know. I don't agree
- 1:05:06with it either because I think. Well he definitely won the 12th round. Yeah he won the 12th round.
- 1:05:11I think that might be where it is. It's like the first six and then 12. I think granted
- 1:05:20I guess we'll go with that Loma was injured. I mean he was injured I guess like with his
- 1:05:24shoulder or some shit. I don't know the full details. Well then so is Ryan Garcia and that's
- 1:05:28the only reason Tanks stopped him. Right. Because the injuries are real man. Yeah now we're
- 1:05:34going off the injuries and stuff. I don't know. I wanted to like Teo really bad but
- 1:05:40kind of like I said before I think he's the one who bought to his own hype. Yeah I said
- 1:05:44it before I think the Loma win was the best and the worst thing to happen to his career.
- 1:05:51Yeah like we said like the curse passed on to Camboso's. I will say though like out of
- 1:06:02this list that we're looking at right here I really want to see Teo Fimo versus Ryan
- 1:06:08Garcia. Absolutely. The ego. You could sell the egos. The two biggest airheads in the
- 1:06:16division. Arguably in the sport man. And I say that as like man I was on I felt like
- 1:06:25I was pretty close to the ground floor with Teo and I thought like I'm looking at a future
- 1:06:29longtime champion and then you know everything that happened happened. But man like if he
- 1:06:36ever gets back to that form he had you know I think he's like he's a serious problem for
- 1:06:43everyone even at you know 140. But I just unless there's like a real shakeup in his
- 1:06:50camp I think the real X Factor was when he brought in Joey Gamache and he was his primary
- 1:06:56trainer not his dad. He's like trying to gas him up and like live vicariously through his
- 1:07:01son like an actual seasoned veteran trainer. Gamache wasn't he a champion a world champion
- 1:07:09himself. Yeah he was. Yeah absolutely. I'm surprised he doesn't have better like more
- 1:07:16high like high profile high caliber boxers in his camp. I think he had Otto Wallin. Dude
- 1:07:22dad won't allow it. Yeah his dad is like just a stone wall to anything good coming into
- 1:07:29his life unfortunately. But man because Gamache came on before the the Komi fight and you
- 1:07:37saw kind of the beginnings of what you you'd eventually see in the Loma fight. You saw
- 1:07:43that aggression he had tempered by more there's more of a patience there was more of an emphasis
- 1:07:49on timing. Right right. And it was like like he was like oh my god there's something really
- 1:07:55special here. And then he goes and beats Loma he gets covered and then they cut Gamache
- 1:08:01because they didn't want to pay him while he was out covered. I didn't know no fit fried
- 1:08:05brain cells. Didn't they also cut his nutritionists. Yeah they did. They cut they stripped down
- 1:08:12everything for that camp. Bostes camp. It was just him and his dad. That's fucking ridiculous.
- 1:08:19Yeah. So Tio has so much like potential and so much talent. It's just the wrong team.
- 1:08:28Yeah. Wrong circumstances around him. It's unfortunate. But regardless if that Tio is
- 1:08:36ever it is ever possible to see that version again. I think even this version versus Ryan
- 1:08:42Garcia like Garcia is defensively deficient enough to make this a really really fun fight.
- 1:08:49And like I said previously the build up would just be probably as good as the fight itself.
- 1:08:55Dude I want to say that Tio sparks Ryan but I also want to say that Ryan sparks Tio with
- 1:09:02like a crazy left hook because I mean I mean not Tio's offense is pretty good but I feel
- 1:09:07like in the Sandor Martin fight it just wasn't there. I'm trying to. He's definitely become
- 1:09:16more like lackadaisical. Like when he wants to focus on a certain aspect of his game he
- 1:09:23can execute it but he's not consistent with it. So like round around you see you see him
- 1:09:29kind of laps or almost like zone out like he's zoning out. So like for these two guys
- 1:09:36not just where do they where are they actually at 140 but also do the circumstances around
- 1:09:44them change for the better leading into a higher profile fight. So like with Tio Fimo
- 1:09:52it's like can you can you put your dad in the back fucking seat if not the trunk. Bring
- 1:10:01Gamache back for Ryan Garcia I think he should go back to Renoso now that he's been humbled
- 1:10:07a little bit like go get yourself a real fucking trainer. That's hard to call honestly for
- 1:10:16Tio I don't think his dad's ever taking the back seat. I don't think so either. For Garcia
- 1:10:23it depends how much pride he has like just swallow his pride and be like hey I was wrong
- 1:10:28I want to come back. Sorry guys like please help me. Yeah but it's it's hard to call for
- 1:10:35either of them but I think Ryan has a better chance of developing more throughout 140.
- 1:10:40Alright question marks speaking of question marks Antoine Russell I was there for the
- 1:10:48quote unquote stoppage of Postol that was bullshit 100% and then was I want to say hit
- 1:10:57the fight after that was also a very questionable stoppage if I'm not mistaken. Yeah against
- 1:11:04Bartholomew. That's right I didn't want to say because I wasn't certain if it was Bartholomew
- 1:11:09or not but yeah so like his last two fights have been trash and but he like leading up
- 1:11:15to that you know I thought holy shit like it's it's like the intelligence of Gary Russell
- 1:11:23Jr. with the aggression of I don't know D.S.C. Cruz. Try to think how this one. So like Antoine
- 1:11:38let's let's assume Antoine is who he appears to be just great you know like but he's green.
- 1:11:45How does he weather fellow aggressive type come forward type like Mario Barrios who you
- 1:11:54know he can have his face rearranged. That's a tough call I'm not gonna lie that one's
- 1:12:03kind of making a real spin a little bit. I would I would I would almost prefer if he
- 1:12:14went up against Jose Ramirez first. That's why I was going to Barrios because you know
- 1:12:22Ramirez he's he's a veteran he's been in some fights but we've also like there's a pretty
- 1:12:26clear ceiling on him right and I feel like he's also got a style that would mesh pretty
- 1:12:33well with Antoine's as in Antoine's gonna have a lot of openings to the batter the guy
- 1:12:41Ramirez is going to take it and like it's gonna make like you know like a what was it Rocky
- 1:12:46three. Oh no he's not getting hurt he's getting mad. Correct. Correct. I mean he's not gonna
- 1:12:57ever let off his gas but he kind of just yeah floors it until he runs out of gas. So I think
- 1:13:05something like that is a more intriguing fight because with Barrios he's he sort of even
- 1:13:10has some with some real good boxers and I feel like his his overall skill set and kind
- 1:13:17of the knowledge he's built up is going to be probably a little too much for Russell
- 1:13:21right now if that were to happen next. Yeah I agree with you on the experience aspect.
- 1:13:29For Barrios like Ramirez also has good experience but like he hasn't come necessarily come out
- 1:13:35on the better end of it like as so meaning like he learned something from it at least
- 1:13:42it doesn't appear to be to me. That reminds me about Barrios I saw something after the
- 1:13:49Garcia fight that Barrios was made to sign like a rehydration clause against tank or
- 1:13:56some shit like that. I know it's kind of like off topic but I just remember seeing his name.
- 1:14:00I didn't know that. Yeah Barrios was like I just signed a rehydration clause against
- 1:14:04tank also but never brought it to light. Now I'm thinking like all right I guess not everyone's
- 1:14:09talking about you know Ryan's rehydration clause and xyz with tank now Barrios is going
- 1:14:13to mention it too but if that is true I wonder how the fight would have gone different if
- 1:14:18Barrios didn't have a clause if he ever really did. That maybe is a whole nother can of worms
- 1:14:25because I've been wondering this myself how much do those clauses really hurt you because
- 1:14:31you only there's this like this misconception that you have to weigh you can only weigh a
- 1:14:36maximum of whatever the clause says in the ring but it's only like that morning the next morning
- 1:14:429 a.m. right so you have time to hike like you're gonna probably gain five more pounds just some
- 1:14:47water weight. You just don't have overnight as well to do it. That's true so I mean there's a cap but
- 1:14:54yeah is it I am curious. It's a slight cap but not as bad as people think it is.
- 1:15:06Yeah that was just like a side note because I saw an article on that but
- 1:15:12Barrios versus Romero. I was just gonna say Barrios versus Romero. Two guys that went against tank
- 1:15:19both obviously lost but I think Barrios honestly I would too he seems he's been around the block
- 1:15:27more whereas Romero is kind of a jackass that his mouth got him into the ring with tank more than
- 1:15:33anything. Yeah it seems like Romero is better with his words than his hands. We'll see how he
- 1:15:38fares. I think Romero would genuinely get stopped by everyone else on this list. You think? Yeah
- 1:15:45Wow. He is such a crude boxer like the only thing he has is his power and he's only been able to land
- 1:15:55that power shots on like a really bad competition. And 35 guys. Yeah right. I don't know keep it in a
- 1:16:04buck I don't know if Ryan Garcia is beating Romero. That's an interesting one right there
- 1:16:11Ryan Garcia and Romero. There's that whole there's that footage I'm sparring on YouTube
- 1:16:17but that was like five six years ago too so they've obviously evolved but I don't keep it a buck I
- 1:16:22think. I'm not sure if I see Ryan beating Romero. I think Ryan you have to bring in the
- 1:16:32the same variables of does he go to a better camp. Reynoso or otherwise. And I don't like Romero I
- 1:16:43don't know what variables are there. Yeah what camps do you under Romero? I don't know. I have no idea.
- 1:16:53I would be shocked if Ryan Garcia lost to Romero he needs to like quit boxing like
- 1:16:59I'm being serious like you cannot lose Romero and continue like having any kind of world title
- 1:17:06aspiration. Yeah Romero is pretty like an orthodox fighter like he is definitely has a funky ass style
- 1:17:13and Ryan's just not that good. It's just two of the worst people but it's like which one's the
- 1:17:22better worst person. I just feel like Ryan's offense is just I mean he's so like if he was
- 1:17:30you know a video game character all his he stacked all his points in offense right
- 1:17:34and he's I feel like he has to with all that talent he has to land something before Romero does.
- 1:17:42You know I mean I could be wrong but I this I can't even envision that scene
- 1:17:48and I would I would genuinely be stunned. I mean was Ryan landing on a tank all that
- 1:17:55way he kind of has some good shots on tank. Round one. In the first two rounds before the knockdown
- 1:18:01and then in round six he started landing more consistently with that straight right.
- 1:18:07Yeah so I mean I don't know I'm gonna throw up Romero and Garcia as like a pure 50-50.
- 1:18:13Cromwell Gordon Bullitt is Raleigh's trainer. What the fuck is that? I have no idea.
- 1:18:23It's Johnny Tuko's gym whatever the fuck that means. The only Tuko I know is uh tight tight tight tight.
- 1:18:33Such a good show. Yeah I need to watch season six of Better Call Saul. You haven't watched that yet?
- 1:18:40I have not. I need to catch up because uh okay buddy chicanery doesn't make sense to me right now.
- 1:18:49Nobody nobody goes to the shitpost subreddit for the Breaking Bad universe. No
- 1:18:58I'm too busy I've been watching Modern Family.
- 1:19:01I need to be on your watch list. Do we continue anything more for 140 or do we move up to 47?
- 1:19:13I think we covered it pretty well. Yeah Ryan G and Romero's a 50-50 huh. Yeah pure 50-50 in my
- 1:19:21opinion. Interesting. All right welterweight here's our six uh Cody Crowley, Royman Villa, uh fucking
- 1:19:31I don't know his name's Stan Jonas and Butaev who most recently lost to Stan Jonas, Rashidi Ellis
- 1:19:39fought uh Romeo Villa not too long ago. And our lord and savior. I have him listed as eggs benedict
- 1:19:50but it's uh Connor Ben of course. God bless. So going back to it that Rashidi Ellis fight and uh
- 1:19:58Romane uh was it Villa? Yeah that fight was a banger. That was amazing. That was a real good one.
- 1:20:04I just had that shit in the bag until he gassed. I want to say it's like eight or nine and then Villa
- 1:20:10really put it on. Villa was like you got to enter my trap card. Yeah you had.
- 1:20:20That was that was a good one but honestly let's just let's let's address the elephant in the room
- 1:20:25i.e uh eggs benedict. Yeah uh assuming that he's fighting clean he like Stan Jonas and Butaev they
- 1:20:36put on a fucking banger. They were the last fight on the undercard of the like the prelims of uh
- 1:20:45Spence Ugass and they put on a banger. It was really really entertaining. Um it was that sort
- 1:20:54of what you would think at a like a 10,000 foot view. It's one of those phone booth like rock'em
- 1:21:02sock'em robots but like if you're looking at them the way like um traps uh you'd and obviously head
- 1:21:12movement but there are ways that you can pin your opponent's hands that uh Stan Jonas was using very
- 1:21:23effectively. Butaev did to a lesser extent but the way that they were able to like get you were you're
- 1:21:31like you make three moves in the right direction but turns out your opponent was doing the same
- 1:21:36thing so now you're you have to take like two steps back to reevaluate. It was it was like that
- 1:21:43Shakur Haney sort of high level high speed chess type of shit except their foreheads are touching
- 1:21:51pretty much. That's always a good fight though. Yeah. That always makes a good fight. It does.
- 1:21:59So real quick I want to ask is there is there a reason Virgil Ortiz is on this list? Does he have
- 1:22:07a belt? No it's not that. It's um so obviously Spence Crawford top two but of the of the coming
- 1:22:16crop Boots and Virgil like anyone on this list loses to both of them. I cannot think of Virgil
- 1:22:26he's either going to stop all of them or he's gonna beat the shit out of them for 12 rounds.
- 1:22:31Boots is gonna make them look like clowns until he stops them. Even Stan Jonas? Yeah even Stan Jonas.
- 1:22:36Really? Yeah. Oh okay. I think I think Boots has a better and easier time with Stan Jonas than
- 1:22:44Virgil does but Virgil still would still beat him. I don't see uh I don't see Virgil or Boots losing
- 1:22:52to anybody here. Including fucking eat all the eggs you want Connor Ben.
- 1:23:00Okay that's fair. That's why they didn't go out. Yeah Ken I got one.
- 1:23:05Whereas these guys have vulnerabilities. Connor Ben his biggest vulnerability being a fucking
- 1:23:14moron. So we just talked about two of the guys or two fights that involve guys on this list Villa
- 1:23:25and Ellis and Stan Jonas and Budiev. What do you all think about taking the winners of those fights
- 1:23:32and the losers of those fights? So be Ellis versus Stan and Budiev versus Villa. How do we feel about
- 1:23:39those fights? I think Stan Jonas probably I'm not gonna well I think he wins. How? That I'm not sure.
- 1:23:55Might be a late stoppage because Ellis gases. He obviously was able to withstand pressure very well.
- 1:24:03He did it against Royman Villa so he can do it. It's just a matter of if his stamina is enough.
- 1:24:13But now will Stan Jonas bring on more pressure than Villa or? He'll bring on smarter pressure I think.
- 1:24:20And now that brings on the question of you know is Ellis gonna tire out quicker with that mentally
- 1:24:25and physically too? Because I guess you think about it like what's smart pressure in a way?
- 1:24:35Like mental pressure or make them think more kind of like how Loma does.
- 1:24:38Yeah. Or just like Villa did just full-on brute forcing it. Yeah Villa's like that is that's his mo.
- 1:24:46So him versus Budiev like that's a CTE festival. I think the fans definitely win that fight.
- 1:25:00Yeah of course. Yeah 100%. If you want brutality then this is the one for you.
- 1:25:04Hmm I'm not man I'm really wondering now. I'm really second guessing my certainty on Stan Jonas.
- 1:25:15I think I would take Ellis. I like Stan but I think in that match if I take Ellis and I think
- 1:25:24I would take Budiev against Villa. I would as well on that one. Okay so you take Ellis over Stan Jonas.
- 1:25:32Would you take Crowley over Stan Jonas? The same kind of like boxer type? No I think Stan would
- 1:25:43would take that one. He went life and death with Abel Ramos but he also really had had a really
- 1:25:50really difficult situation at home. So take that to mean what you will. Man I'm really
- 1:26:04standing on this Ellis. I'm not sure anymore. It's a tough one. Yeah that's a good one.
- 1:26:11I'm like my hamster reel just spinning right now kind of trying to think about that.
- 1:26:14That might be the best fight out of all these six I think. Well let's not you know leave out
- 1:26:21Conor Ben here. Are we making omelets? Who's gonna crack these eggs? I like mine scrambled.
- 1:26:31I think Villa is tailor-made for a guy like Conor Ben. 100%. Budiev to a lesser degree
- 1:26:41but still probably gets the win there. Stan Jonas is a good question mark. That'll be a good fight
- 1:26:49I think. Speaking of our Lord and Savior Conor Ben I saw them. I don't know if you guys saw it too
- 1:26:58but like him and Tank are beefing. It's a very odd beef. It's like two classes like just different
- 1:27:06and now I thought about it. I was like Ben versus Tank you know at what weird weight could they do
- 1:27:13that at? Well here's the weight they could do that. They could do it fully at 147 pounds if
- 1:27:21Ben somehow gets his hands on like the WA regular belt or something like that
- 1:27:26and then Tank could say he won a belt in another weight class. Oh man. That's how that's the move.
- 1:27:32I think Conor Ben would just take his head off. You think so? I don't know if Conor Ben can punch
- 1:27:39that low. I don't know. That's a tough fight to call because I know Conor not that I know but like
- 1:27:48I'm pretty sure Conor Ben would just brute force into a Tank and try to take his head off. Try to
- 1:27:52bully him? And if he lands like it could be a good fight. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:28:00If he lands like it could be like you know Christmas for Tank lights out.
- 1:28:07That's true because Ben he's campaigned above 154 pounds too so he's kind of a huge
- 1:28:14welterweight isn't he? Maybe I'm just giving you know Ben too much credit because like I like his
- 1:28:20dad. You say a huge 140. My normal thinking is to say like a meaty or beefy but I wanted to say
- 1:28:31eggy for Conor Ben. Everyone's laughing. All right so we had this one with Ellis kind of being
- 1:28:42of these of this crop the the slickest most slick technical type but what about Ellis Ben uh
- 1:28:52Benedict Ellis versus Ben and then Crowley versus Ben. Oh because Crowley's a bit more
- 1:29:00hittable even before his like his family tragedies. That's a tough one to call.
- 1:29:08I think Crowley and Ben would be easier to call. Crowley and Ben is definitely the fight to make
- 1:29:14because I think they're both. They have the third like similar yeah similar level of profile.
- 1:29:21And they'll want to do more or less the same thing so stylistically they mesh pretty well
- 1:29:26or at least Crowley he's used his last two fights have been uh you know drawn out kind of slugfest.
- 1:29:33Rashidi and Ben though.
- 1:29:38Speedy Rashidi. That that's doesn't question mark. I don't know like
- 1:29:45what if Ben catches like Rashidi like what happens then or she's gonna box his head off all night.
- 1:29:51Ben catches like Rashidi like what happens then or she's gonna box his head off all night.
- 1:30:01Yes that's what he that he's can do that he can. Right. It's the matter of like sustainability.
- 1:30:11This could be a Lara versus uh what's his face the Englishman.
- 1:30:17Um.
- 1:30:22Versus Wood. Oh that Lara. Those situations where he just he's he's getting kind of boxed the whole
- 1:30:29night and then he just gets caught with one punch and it's over. I was thinking of the other Lara.
- 1:30:33I was like when did Arislandi Lara fight a British person. That's what I was thinking too like the
- 1:30:39fucking the error 404k in my head. I'm pretty sure he has some fought a British person. I I'll see you know what I'm gonna go with Rashidi on this one against Ben. I'm gonna go Rashidi.
- 1:30:54Yeah I think I would as well. I yeah I think so. Ben if his cardio keeps up it doesn't get gassed.
- 1:31:02Um because we know Ben's gonna go with the same type of pressure that uh Villa did so
- 1:31:06if Rashidi can either just get Ben out early because I mean we don't really know how durable Ben is either. He's never really been like cracked too hard. No egg pun intended.
- 1:31:15No no no egg pun absolutely intended. Egg pun intended yeah. I mean either way we just
- 1:31:21there's still some questions about Ben that we don't know.
- 1:31:24I wouldn't put it up to I wouldn't think Rashidi would stop Connor Ben. Um if the gas tank holds up then yeah it could be a close but clear sort of sweep.
- 1:31:43Crowley get I think he would get touched a bit too much by Connor Ben and it would be
- 1:31:50it would spell the end for him later not so much sooner like his other opponents have.
- 1:32:03I'm gonna go with Rashidi though. That's my final take on that one.
- 1:32:06I'm gonna go with Rashidi on against Connor Ben as well.
- 1:32:09That will as well yeah that's so does Rashidi beat everybody on this list?
- 1:32:21Because now I get a rematch with Villa. If he beats Stan he probably does.
- 1:32:27If he can beat Stan Jonas. Crowley's interesting fight. Crowley would be tough but I think that's a winnable fight.
- 1:32:34To see how with like him being more of a technician he's probably been matched with a lot more boxer puncher like pressure puncher types.
- 1:32:44So how he handles a more tech more of a technician like Crowley that would be interesting.
- 1:32:51It's like a what like Mayweather didn't really fight any technicians in the latter half of his career.
- 1:32:57Somebody I don't remember his name but in discord pops in like every couple of months to say that Canelo won't fight a black fighter ever.
- 1:33:09Wait who is this? That's RGF's bit isn't it? No it's LZ that's what it is.
- 1:33:20LZ yeah he stands hard for Andre saying that Canelo won't fight a black fighter especially not Andre.
- 1:33:36Can we get him a GoFundMe for like mental health? It's funny in general whenever there's a lot of you know grays in the chat.
- 1:33:48Because they bite they always bite they can't help themselves but it just like off days it's like Tuesday afternoon bro stop like you don't have to commit to the bit right now.
- 1:34:02You can just be a person right now it's fine. So it gets it gets a little stale when it doesn't when he's relentless.
- 1:34:11So if that's the case then Connor Ben will never fight it well he'll never fight a black fighter.
- 1:34:31He's got he's trying to avoid a skilled technician like Rashidi Ellis.
- 1:34:36Alright no matter what matchup you put these six guys in whatever iteration of them you want.
- 1:34:52And about fights yeah absolutely but I want to say round four to six.
- 1:35:00You'll hear Boots's music and he's running to the ring with a steel chair.
- 1:35:06He beats them all it's easy.
- 1:35:10Where's where's the Crawford in all this?
- 1:35:17Crawford and Spencer fighting on top of hell in a cell and Crawford's gonna get thrown 16 feet through the announcer's table.
- 1:35:27And then Ben jumps up with the chair hits Spencer over the back of the head and then Ben's Connor Ben's your champion now.
- 1:35:43It's like the nightmare long rotation.
- 1:35:45Yeah it is man I can do that shit all day.
- 1:35:49Hold on a second okay now some just some quicks some quick points before we get out of here.
- 1:35:57We already talked about in the previous episode that we released we talked about these fights but
- 1:36:03Johnny Beck fucking last name versus Steven Butler the champion versus.
- 1:36:09It's something that it started with on ultimate fucking casual where like I honestly don't look up how to pronounce these names.
- 1:36:22I don't and so I'm reading down the list and I get to one I'm like oh fuck I don't know how to say this.
- 1:36:29So this is definitely an old fuck name.
- 1:36:31Yeah it's uh Johnny Beck last name the WBO champion at 160 versus ranked 6. WBO rankings are garbage so that's probably gonna be an easy night.
- 1:36:43Jason Maloney versus Vincent Astrolavio 1 and 2 for the vacant WBO bantamweight.
- 1:36:51Dude that's kind of a fire last name Astrolavio it's pretty fire.
- 1:36:54Um RGF calls it a space pussy.
- 1:36:59Astrolav oh god.
- 1:37:00Yeah I got there in the end.
- 1:37:06You got me.
- 1:37:07Yep that's uh that was a good one like I was definitely taken aback when I first heard it as well.
- 1:37:14That is only an RGF comment too.
- 1:37:19Anything any uh comments on either of those two?
- 1:37:25Baloney.
- 1:37:25I'll be honest I don't really follow them all that much to have any comments on those.
- 1:37:34Will I watch? Of course.
- 1:37:36Yeah same.
- 1:37:39I'll just say I hope Jannabek wins. I know he's not I know realistically speaking he's not that good but I want him to be good.
- 1:37:47I want Jannabek to become good overnight so.
- 1:37:50160 is pretty light so like the field's pretty clear.
- 1:37:55Right but as soon as like someone with actual like.
- 1:37:59Jermell Charlo.
- 1:38:01Yeah I mean if he ever came back he'd wipe the floor with him.
- 1:38:04No Jermell moves up to 60.
- 1:38:06Oh right right yeah that would have been he'd be coming up pretty quick.
- 1:38:13Uh okay one more on May 13th as well in Vegas Rolando Romero who we talked about versus Ismael Barroso.
- 1:38:21This is ranked 5 and 1 respectively for the WBA interim 140 title.
- 1:38:29Barroso for being ranked number one like this is probably the first time I've heard about him.
- 1:38:36To me that's pretty telling.
- 1:38:38Yeah he's not a very popular name it seems like because I had to look him up before.
- 1:38:42Like when I saw Rolando in my fight I was like who the fuck is this guy.
- 1:38:46He also looks very unfortunate in his box track photo.
- 1:38:51Yeah RGF pointed it out and was like man what are they doing to you. Look how they massacred my boy.
- 1:39:01Broke.
- 1:39:02Yeah.
- 1:39:02Oh my god.
- 1:39:10That is an unfortunate photo.
- 1:39:13Unfortunate.
- 1:39:15Oh my lord.
- 1:39:16Yeah pretty bad.
- 1:39:18Wait he's 40 years old?
- 1:39:19Yeah 40.
- 1:39:21He looks like 50.
- 1:39:22Photo of Barroso?
- 1:39:24Yeah.
- 1:39:24Yeah it's bad.
- 1:39:25It's bad.
- 1:39:28Oh no.
- 1:39:29He's pretty rough.
- 1:39:30RGF.
- 1:39:32While you look that up let's move down real quick.
- 1:39:35May 17th Wednesday it's a Pro Box Wednesday Night Fights card.
- 1:39:39Those are usually pretty fun so I recommend to anyone listening to check it out.
- 1:39:43It's only like two dollars a month or like 20 bucks for the year.
- 1:39:48It's worth it I'm telling you.
- 1:39:50Oh fuck yeah.
- 1:39:51Uh okay and May 20th in Dublin Ireland's Katie Taylor the women's lightweight undisputed
- 1:39:59champion takes on the women's 140 undisputed champion Chantal Cameron and Cecilia Breckes
- 1:40:07has not retired and is fighting for the 154 WBA title against Terry Harper.
- 1:40:14The meat of that weekend will be at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada Devin Haney the
- 1:40:22undisputed 135 champ versus Vasyl Lomachenko I stopped to look these up in the IBF WBA WBC WBO
- 1:40:34he is ranked third third first and first respectively so he's not they're not just
- 1:40:40putting him in because he's a name.
- 1:40:45Let's talk about it.
- 1:40:46Yeah go ahead.
- 1:40:47What do you what do you got to say what do you want to say?
- 1:40:49What did you pick a team on uh on discord?
- 1:40:53Oh there are teams on it already?
- 1:40:54Yeah.
- 1:40:54Let me check.
- 1:40:55Haney Stans and Bro Machenko.
- 1:40:58I'm gonna uh well that's gonna answer my question here but honestly I'm going Bro
- 1:41:02Machenko on this one.
- 1:41:03Bro Machenko.
- 1:41:03Yeah let's go.
- 1:41:06The team yeah I a lot of people are counting Devin out that's pretty wild.
- 1:41:12And I'll tell you why this is my take on it I just don't think he's experienced enough like
- 1:41:17there's still questions answered about Devin Haney like okay he's got the skill but is his
- 1:41:24power there?
- 1:41:25No.
- 1:41:26Can you really can't take a punch that well we saw a washed up on Naras Rockham.
- 1:41:30Yeah.
- 1:41:30And he held on for dear life and now we know Loma is not really a power puncher by any means but
- 1:41:36that pressure as well like.
- 1:41:38He'll almost go ahead.
- 1:41:39Go ahead.
- 1:41:40If he gets he's if his agility is still there he'll get you out of position enough to catch
- 1:41:44you clean plenty of times that it'll add up.
- 1:41:48Exactly but that and also Loma likes to fight dirty in the pocket so I just don't know like
- 1:41:56Haney likes to tie up Loma likes to fight dirty in the pocket so I feel like it's just tailor
- 1:42:01made for Loma in a way.
- 1:42:02I may be just being biased as well but I'm having a Bro Machenko on this one.
- 1:42:09I agree uh with that a lot and I think my only question in this fight is what kind of
- 1:42:14Loma are we seeing because if it's the Loma that showed up against Ortiz and I think unfortunately
- 1:42:20I have to pick uh Haney but I do think that that's not what Loma all Loma can be going
- 1:42:29forward.
- 1:42:29I do think being in boxing uh for a couple more camps since you know training more uh kind of
- 1:42:39getting back into his rhythm getting back into fighting shape I think that we're going to see
- 1:42:44something closer to you know the Loma we're used to.
- 1:42:48Even if he's not fully back I think he gives Haney a lot of stylistic problems and I think
- 1:42:55in the clinch he's very good at you know you see some of these highlights where he someone
- 1:43:00clinches him and he's able to wiggle out of there and as he's getting out he'll throw an overhand
- 1:43:05and you know get the guy off guard and that is his opportunity to jump back inside and
- 1:43:10start something else and
- 1:43:11I just don't know how Haney's gonna respond to that I feel like he's kind of got his one way to win.
- 1:43:16That's what I'm saying I feel like Haney's just too unexperienced for this kind of a fight and
- 1:43:22this is kind of I hate to say it but like also another stars aligned moment where Haney beat
- 1:43:27Kambosas not so much stars aligned we know Haney was gonna kind of beat Kambosas but
- 1:43:31stars line that sense of like all right Kambosas is a shit champ let me go beat him and become
- 1:43:36champ.
- 1:43:36Right and he's almost kind of I mean he was kind of on his own hype before that but now he's sort
- 1:43:42of like now that he's got all the belts he's like you know calling out Tank and you know talking
- 1:43:49trash with Ryan Garcia and it's like I don't know if you want to be talking to those guys.
- 1:43:54I'm not sure if Tank's the right one for you to be.
- 1:43:57But that's what I'm saying like is Haney gonna be another case of these guys at 35?
- 1:44:02Who just bought into their own hype?
- 1:44:10Um one can only hope.
- 1:44:14It would be interesting to see if the field clears a little more at 135.
- 1:44:19Um is Tank Shakur is that gonna be the the ultimate boss battle?
- 1:44:27I think I think it is already anyway Devin Haney notwithstanding.
- 1:44:37Tank and Shakur that'll be a good fight but who do we what do we have for that one like how's it go?
- 1:44:46Tank sparks him in the first 30 seconds.
- 1:44:49That's it done.
- 1:44:50Done the fight's over like I'm glad thank you all for your 74.99.
- 1:44:54Oh dude I hope not that's a little pricey.
- 1:44:59I hope so I hope not as well.
- 1:45:03Yeah I don't I don't know man but I mean just yeah going back to it I'm gonna put my chips on
- 1:45:07Bermachenko I just don't think Haney has the experience or the power to keep Loma off him
- 1:45:13and I mean for being honest Loma seems pretty durable like yeah he did kind of get mauled by
- 1:45:18TFMO not mauled I shouldn't say that he took some punches from Lopez.
- 1:45:22Because Jaime got him a good Jaime Jaime got him a good time and he did get mauled by Salido.
- 1:45:31Yeah on his nuts for sure.
- 1:45:33Definitely having no kids or whatever but I don't know I'm just gonna go up Bermachenko.
- 1:45:39The experience is there um they all say like his age gonna catch up to him but
- 1:45:44if we think about it Loma was in shape like all year round constantly training so
- 1:45:48how much that really affected him by age if he's gonna stay always in shape.
- 1:45:52He hit up Tom Brady for his recipe to the youth the family.
- 1:45:58And he is also a pro with a pretty short like you know he spent a lot of his time in the
- 1:46:05amateurs right he's only got what 15 pro fights so he's he's older but he doesn't have like
- 1:46:10the way crazy ring by right he's not been in like a lot of wars either so he's not he's not got
- 1:46:17the ring where that you know someone his age might in another weight class.
- 1:46:24Question on this if Loma chenko loses what will be the excuse that everyone's gonna start making
- 1:46:33because anytime every time Loma chenko is lost there's always an excuse.
- 1:46:40What was the Salido?
- 1:46:41Bo's his ace.
- 1:46:42Bo's his ace. Salido was the nuts which like like dude okay if you're getting punched in the nuts
- 1:46:48and the ref's not saying anything you start punching him in the nuts.
- 1:46:53It's really fucking simple if he's hitting you there it must and no one's saying anything
- 1:46:57then it must be allowed go for it. Don't give me any of this honorable fucking gentleman bullshit
- 1:47:04Loma chenko's a dickhead.
- 1:47:08Is he really though?
- 1:47:09In the ring yeah.
- 1:47:09That was actually.
- 1:47:10Oh in the ring yeah.
- 1:47:12I will say that was the turning point for him going forward he became a much dirtier boxer.
- 1:47:16Yeah.
- 1:47:17When you realized that's kind of.
- 1:47:18It's allowed.
- 1:47:19What being a pro is about.
- 1:47:20Position yourself properly where the ref can't necessarily see it and fuck it let him fly.
- 1:47:25That's what happens.
- 1:47:27Yeah because I was only asking because I heard he was a dickhead like outside of boxing too
- 1:47:31but that's a different story.
- 1:47:32Yeah I've heard the same as well that he's when he's interviewed in Ukrainian he's really
- 1:47:39really arrogant.
- 1:47:44But whatever all right so you guys are both going with Loma chenko.
- 1:47:49For me this is has nothing to do this pick has nothing to do with skills.
- 1:47:54I'm going with Devin Haney just because I don't want Loma chenko to be an undisputed champion.
- 1:47:59That's it.
- 1:48:00Fair enough.
- 1:48:00I have no other reason that's not even really a valid one.
- 1:48:04So okay.
- 1:48:05Oh go ahead.
- 1:48:06I'm sorry I was going to say what if I can make this a little bit of an easier
- 1:48:10pill for you to swallow Leo.
- 1:48:13What if Loma becomes undisputed champion and then fights tank next.
- 1:48:19God damn it.
- 1:48:21Yes.
- 1:48:22Can we sacrifice Loma to tanks like rising glory and make tank undisputed if just for one fight
- 1:48:28Loma could be undisputed champ.
- 1:48:30Yes okay I'll take it.
- 1:48:34In that case he's all in for it dude.
- 1:48:35My my disdain for Loma chenko is not as good as my love for tank.
- 1:48:42It's not as big.
- 1:48:43All right let's move on.
- 1:48:44Baloney brother number two is fighting he's ranked number two.
- 1:48:49Junto Nakatani ranked one.
- 1:48:50This is the vacant WBO superfly.
- 1:48:55And lastly Oscar Valdez versus Adam Lopez.
- 1:49:00This is a non-title fight 10 rounds.
- 1:49:03I'll be honest I had no idea about how he was even fighting.
- 1:49:06Yeah Valdez I don't know if he's even on like the the pay-per-view portion to be honest with
- 1:49:11you.
- 1:49:11I think he might be the headline of the prelims which is kind of sad.
- 1:49:18Oh man Shakur really ruined his career.
- 1:49:19Yeah no well no Valdez and Reynoso ruined his career.
- 1:49:25True.
- 1:49:26Oh hey he's.
- 1:49:27His career was ruined before he even fought Shakur.
- 1:49:30I'm sorry what were you saying.
- 1:49:31Oh no he's like oh he's he's he's he's got me at the end of his jab and I don't know what to do.
- 1:49:38Do it for your country.
- 1:49:40Bro I need actual advice here.
- 1:49:46Is the uh what was just was good luck.
- 1:49:50Abel Abel Sanchez yeah hey just go knock him out.
- 1:49:53Yeah just like Teofimo senior same shit.
- 1:49:56Knock him out bro what the fuck's wrong with you.
- 1:49:58Bro that's my that's that's my favorite like just line from like boxing history.
- 1:50:04Just knock him out bro what the fuck's wrong with you.
- 1:50:09Man if oh wow why didn't I think of it before.
- 1:50:11Thanks thanks dad.
- 1:50:13Oh shit no kidding pops.
- 1:50:14Knock him out fuck what was I supposed to do before I don't even know what I was trying
- 1:50:19to do before thank you.
- 1:50:20Should I should I be breathing during the rounds too or should I be like holding my
- 1:50:23breath the whole time.
- 1:50:24Where did my hands go I don't know what to do with my hands.
- 1:50:33Oh man.
- 1:50:35Uh okay I think that's gonna do it for us this evening.
- 1:50:38This went on a lot holy shit a lot longer than I thought but still very good.
- 1:50:44Um I'll I would like to do these more.
