- 0:00Speaker 1: Anger and chaos mounting at Joe Biden because Congress allowed
- 0:07Speaker 1: the eviction ban to expire. The eviction moratorium expires, and
- 0:14Speaker 1: millions pays the possibility of losing a home. Welcome to
- 0:19Speaker 1: being an adult. Call me old school. Do I feel
- 0:24Speaker 1: sorry for these people? No, I want to make that clear.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I do not feel sorry for them. If you were
- 0:30Speaker 1: angry or frustrated that Congress was willing to pay your
- 0:32Speaker 1: bills for months on end, some of you for more
- 0:36Speaker 1: than a year, and you want me to think that
- 0:38Speaker 1: you're a victim, I don't. I think you're an idiot.
- 0:42Speaker 1: If you're a grown adult and you didn't plan to
- 0:44Speaker 1: start paying your bills by now, you're an idiot. If
- 0:50Speaker 1: you think that this country's job is to pay for
- 0:55Speaker 1: your bills, you're an idiot. Now this is spiring, and people,
- 1:00Speaker 1: of course are losing their minds over this. AOC was
- 1:05Speaker 1: on Stay the Union with Jake Tapper, who actually implied
- 1:10Speaker 1: that somehow people are owed this, that they should be
- 1:13Speaker 1: obviously very upset that they're losing this benefit, all in
- 1:17Speaker 1: the name of COVID. I remember, there's such a thing
- 1:19Speaker 1: in this country now as COVID. Rich, did you know that, yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: covid rich. You want to know what covid rich means.
- 1:26Speaker 1: It means you got more money than you did pre
- 1:28Speaker 1: covid because of all the government benefits. That is covid rich.
- 1:36Speaker 1: That is covid rich. When somebody else is paying your
- 1:41Speaker 1: mortgage or i say, your rent, that is covid rich.
- 1:45Speaker 1: When you get paid more to not work than to work,
- 1:47Speaker 1: that's covid rich. When you get benefits for your family
- 1:50Speaker 1: that never even existed before, and you still don't go
- 1:53Speaker 1: get a job on purpose, that is covid rich at
- 1:59Speaker 1: all of it up in your covid rich. Well, now
- 2:03Speaker 1: the chickens are coming home to roost because we're running
- 2:06Speaker 1: out of our money. Now, remember when these bills are
- 2:08Speaker 1: being paid, it's being paid with our money. We're going
- 2:11Speaker 1: into debt, our money. We're talking about serious debt, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: it's all our money. AOC though doesn't see it that way.
- 2:22Speaker 1: She thinks we should keep paying people's mortgages, keep paying
- 2:27Speaker 1: their rents indefinitely. I guess take a listen that this
- 2:31Speaker 1: eviction deadline was coming for weeks. Democrats control the House,
- 2:35Speaker 1: you guys control the Senate, you guys control the White House.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Nothing aggressive was done by leadership and sold just a
- 2:41Speaker 1: couple of days ago. Who's to blame her? Well, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I think there's a couple of issues here. First of all,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you are absolutely correct and that the House and House
- 2:50Speaker 1: leadership had the opportunity to vote to extend the moratorium.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And there were many and there was frankly a handful
- 2:56Speaker 1: of conservative Democrats in the House that threatened to get
- 2:59Speaker 1: on planes rather than hold this vote. And we have
- 3:01Speaker 1: to really just call a spade a spade. We cannot
- 3:05Speaker 1: in good faith blame the Republican Party when House Democrats
- 3:08Speaker 1: have a majority. Now there is something to do. By
- 3:11Speaker 1: the way, I have to agree with AOC on that point.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We cannot blame the Republican Party. When the Democrats had
- 3:19Speaker 1: control of the House and the Senate, they could have
- 3:21Speaker 1: done whatever the hell they wanted to. Let me. Let
- 3:24Speaker 1: me just maybe the only time in my life I
- 3:26Speaker 1: might actually quote AOC in a positive lay her exact
- 3:30Speaker 1: words as she said about this, and she's absolutely right.
- 3:36Speaker 1: We cannot in good faith playing the Republican Party when
- 3:39Speaker 1: House Democrats have the majority. Wow, it's about time someone
- 3:45Speaker 1: told the truth. Now, the Democrats didn't want to extend
- 3:49Speaker 1: this again, and the reason why was pretty clear, right,
- 3:53Speaker 1: The reason why was pretty obvious. They didn't want to
- 3:56Speaker 1: extend it because they knew that the music had to end.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It had to stop at some point, right, at some point,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you gotta end this insanity of treating adults like infant children,
- 4:10Speaker 1: giving them COVID rich money and benefits that make them
- 4:14Speaker 1: quote COVID rich. But if you're AOC, this is what
- 4:19Speaker 1: socialism is. Right. The government should pay for everything for
- 4:23Speaker 1: all of it. To be said, for the fact that
- 4:24Speaker 1: this court order came down on the White House a
- 4:26Speaker 1: month ago, and the White House waited until the day
- 4:30Speaker 1: before the House adjourned to release a statement asking on
- 4:33Speaker 1: Congress to extend the moratorium. This came after weeks. I
- 4:36Speaker 1: sit on the Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over housing.
- 4:39Speaker 1: We had, you know, the Housing secretary. They're asking about
- 4:43Speaker 1: the administration stance. We asked the Biden administration about their stance,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and they were not being really forthright about that advocacy
- 4:50Speaker 1: in that request until the day before the House adjourned,
- 4:53Speaker 1: And so the House was put into a I believe
- 4:56Speaker 1: a needlessly difficult situation. And it's not just me saying
- 5:00Speaker 1: that Financial Services CHA Chairwoman Maxine Waters has made that
- 5:05Speaker 1: very clear as well. And so there's a couple of
- 5:07Speaker 1: contributing factors here. We have governors who are also not
- 5:10Speaker 1: getting this emergency rental assistance out in time, which is
- 5:14Speaker 1: forcing this extension. What we would let me just ask
- 5:18Speaker 1: a question here, Do you know what I said, this
- 5:20Speaker 1: emergency renters assistance out in time. We've been dealing with
- 5:24Speaker 1: COVID for eighteen months. Eighteen months, y'all, eighteen months. Is
- 5:34Speaker 1: it an emergency anymore? Or is this the new reality?
- 5:39Speaker 1: People have had a child, gotten pregnant again and had
- 5:41Speaker 1: another child in the time we're talking about here. To
- 5:45Speaker 1: put it in perspective, I mean, COVID is no longer
- 5:51Speaker 1: an emergency crisis. COVID is now just a reality. It's
- 5:55Speaker 1: a reality in the world. The idea that you're still
- 6:00Speaker 1: looking at this as an emergency is insane. It's not
- 6:05Speaker 1: an emergency. It was at the beginning. It was a
- 6:09Speaker 1: pandemic at the beginning. Now this is just the normal world,
- 6:13Speaker 1: the real world that we live in. This isn't this
- 6:16Speaker 1: is an emergency funds anymore. This is laziness funds. This
- 6:21Speaker 1: is we believe that you are so lazy, but you'll
- 6:24Speaker 1: vote for us that we'll give you more money, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: we'll put the government into more debt. We'll waste more
- 6:32Speaker 1: of your tax dollars pandering, so you'll vote for us.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That's all this is. It's not an emergency anymore like
- 6:40Speaker 1: an extension of the moratorium. The fact of the matter
- 6:42Speaker 1: is is that the problem is here the House. Should
- 6:44Speaker 1: we convene and call this vote and extend the moratorium.
- 6:47Speaker 1: There's about eleven million people that are behind on their
- 6:51Speaker 1: rent at risk of eviction. That's one out of every
- 6:54Speaker 1: six renters in the United States. Congress is out of time.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Let's let's deal with that. One out of six renters
- 7:00Speaker 1: is they're saying, who could be evicted? I'm sorry, good.
- 7:03Speaker 1: This is a great correction. Welcome to being an adult.
- 7:10Speaker 1: When you're an adult, if you can't figure out how
- 7:12Speaker 1: to pay your bills in eighteen months, then you don't
- 7:15Speaker 1: deserve to be propped up any longer. Welcome to adult hood.
- 7:21Speaker 1: This is adulthood. You got to learn how to pay
- 7:26Speaker 1: your own bills. There's a lot of things you can
- 7:28Speaker 1: figure out in eighteen months, folks, I mean a lot
- 7:32Speaker 1: of things that you can figure out in eighteen months,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and this is one of them. In eighteen months, you
- 7:39Speaker 1: should have figured out a way so that you wouldn't
- 7:42Speaker 1: be caught with your pants down on an a moratorium
- 7:46Speaker 1: eviction and then act like you're a victim when clearly
- 7:49Speaker 1: you are not a victim. You are I'll say it again,
- 7:52Speaker 1: you're not a victim. Let me say it again. You
- 7:55Speaker 1: are not a victim. Let me say it again. You're
- 8:00Speaker 1: not a victim. If in after eighteen months, eighteen months,
- 8:08Speaker 1: after eighteen months, they finally come to you and say, okay,
- 8:13Speaker 1: now you've got to pay your bills, you are not
- 8:17Speaker 1: a victim. But AOC says, oh, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 8:23Speaker 1: we do need more money, and we need to pay
- 8:26Speaker 1: people's bills, and we need to pay their bills right now.
- 8:28Speaker 1: They're owed this, this is America. You don't let people
- 8:31Speaker 1: got in the streets and be homeless. Well, if you're
- 8:33Speaker 1: an adult and you don't pay your bills, you deserve
- 8:35Speaker 1: to be homeless because you're an adult. We're not talking
- 8:39Speaker 1: about a child here, We're talking about an adult. We're
- 8:42Speaker 1: talking about adults. He or not children. But the federal
- 8:46Speaker 1: government continues to treat adults like children, telling them they
- 8:50Speaker 1: don't have to be responsible for their actions, telling them
- 8:53Speaker 1: they don't have to pay their bills. Just think about
- 8:56Speaker 1: this headline. Anger mounts as Biden in Congress allow eviction band.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You got to live for eighteen months without paying your
- 9:04Speaker 1: bills and made money doing it, and now you're angry
- 9:08Speaker 1: about it. You want to talk about entitlement. Take a
- 9:12Speaker 1: listen to Good Morning America talking about this as well,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and for millions of Americans. The federal moratorium autivictions expiring
- 9:19Speaker 1: overnight as last ditch efforts. You notice that right as
- 9:22Speaker 1: last ditch efforts. Do you hear that? Yeah, last ditch efforts.
- 9:29Speaker 1: They want you to They want you to understand how
- 9:31Speaker 1: just terrible and last second, last moment, last ditch efforts
- 9:35Speaker 1: failed your government. It failed you. That's what they're telling
- 9:41Speaker 1: you in the beginning of their monologue, last ditch efforts
- 9:46Speaker 1: to save you, because apparently you deserve saving millions of Americans.
- 9:52Speaker 1: The federal moratorium autivictions expiring overnight as last ditch efforts
- 9:56Speaker 1: by progressives on Capitol Hill failed to win an extension.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Our Mary Alice Parks is live on Capitol Hill with
- 10:03Speaker 1: what this all means for renters struggling in the pandemic,
- 10:06Speaker 1: Mary Alice, good morning. But by the way, are you struggling?
- 10:11Speaker 1: Let's let's let's challenge that premise from good morning America.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Are you struggling if you're not having to pay your rent?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Are you struggling if you're making more money not going
- 10:21Speaker 1: to work than when you went to work, Because if
- 10:24Speaker 1: someone's paying my rent, by definition, I am not struggling,
- 10:30Speaker 1: So excuse me if I'm not buying your crap. Right,
- 10:34Speaker 1: But they set it up perfectly that you're a victim America,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and now you're struggling even though we've been paying your bills,
- 10:41Speaker 1: which means you're not struggling. Our Mary Alice Parks is
- 10:44Speaker 1: live on Capitol Hill with what this all means for
- 10:46Speaker 1: renters struggling in the pandemic. Mary Alice, good morning, Good morning.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Millions today you can imagine are waking up incredibly anxious
- 10:55Speaker 1: now possibly facing the threat of eviction. Like you said,
- 10:58Speaker 1: that federal eviction more and put in place last year
- 11:01Speaker 1: to help keep people in their homes during the pandemic.
- 11:04Speaker 1: It officially expired at midnight, and so experts are worried
- 11:07Speaker 1: the country could be on the brink of an absolute
- 11:09Speaker 1: housing crisis. Now, some states do have local moratorium still
- 11:14Speaker 1: in place, including New York and California. You see on
- 11:16Speaker 1: the list there still. According to US Census data, over
- 11:20Speaker 1: three and a half million people say they are worried
- 11:22Speaker 1: they are facing eviction. Seven million say they are behind
- 11:26Speaker 1: on rent now. Last night here on the steps of
- 11:28Speaker 1: the Capital, Congresswoman Corey Bush and a handful of other
- 11:31Speaker 1: progressives held a rally. They are angry that the White
- 11:34Speaker 1: House has not done more. They are begging their colleagues
- 11:37Speaker 1: to act. On Friday, Democrats in the House just did
- 11:40Speaker 1: not have the votes though, to get a bill done
- 11:42Speaker 1: before they went out of session for the rest of
- 11:44Speaker 1: the summer. And we've not seen Republicans here in the
- 11:47Speaker 1: Senate in favor of moving on this. And that's partly
- 11:50Speaker 1: because tens of billions of dollars has already been rolled
- 11:54Speaker 1: out to the states to help renters. The question is
- 11:57Speaker 1: why has that money been so slow to get out
- 11:59Speaker 1: the door. We know that only about three billion of
- 12:02Speaker 1: the forty six and a half billion has actually gone out.
- 12:07Speaker 1: That's money that could really help renters and landlords, and
- 12:11Speaker 1: there's just a lot of pressure on the states now
- 12:13Speaker 1: to get that money to the people who need it most. Eva,
- 12:17Speaker 1: Mary As Parks for us there on Capitol Hill, thank you.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I love this. You know who needs it, who needs
- 12:22Speaker 1: it the most? Right, it's who needs it the most.
- 12:24Speaker 1: We've been giving it to you for eighteen months. Come on,
- 12:31Speaker 1: these people need it. We've been giving it to you
- 12:33Speaker 1: for eighteen months. And now you want me to believe
- 12:37Speaker 1: that this is somehow just horrific. Congress already approved nearly
- 12:41Speaker 1: forty seven billion in tax hours in federal housing aid
- 12:46Speaker 1: to states during the pandemic. We've already paid out of
- 12:48Speaker 1: our own pockets for people that are the majority of
- 12:51Speaker 1: them lazy. Forty seven billion. That doesn't even count the
- 12:55Speaker 1: state funds that came in there. All right. They say, oh,
- 12:58Speaker 1: well it's been slow to may get into the hands
- 13:00Speaker 1: of renters and landlords who were old payments. Well, it's
- 13:03Speaker 1: the government program. Of course, it's going to be slow.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And Joe Biden, by the way, every single conservative, every
- 13:11Speaker 1: single Republican, needs to be telling the world this. They
- 13:14Speaker 1: didn't want to save you. Let's exploit that politically, because
- 13:18Speaker 1: when you come out the day before the band set
- 13:20Speaker 1: to expire, as Biden did, calling on local governments to
- 13:23Speaker 1: take all possible steps similarly, disperse the funds right that quote,
- 13:28Speaker 1: there can be no excuse for any state or locality
- 13:30Speaker 1: not accelerating funds to landlords and tenants that have been
- 13:34Speaker 1: hurt during the pandemic. He said in a statement, why
- 13:36Speaker 1: they wait to the night before to do this because
- 13:38Speaker 1: they didn't want to extend it. Because they knew that
- 13:40Speaker 1: this was a waste of taxpayers dollars and it was pandering.
- 13:44Speaker 1: That's why they knew it. Briande directed The White House
- 13:48Speaker 1: National Economic Council echoed that sentiment, saying, quote, today, no
- 13:52Speaker 1: landlords should evict without seeking that rental assistance. So now
- 13:58Speaker 1: you want to dictate to landlords what they can and
- 14:00Speaker 1: cannot do when it comes to evicting people. Maybe you're
- 14:03Speaker 1: a landlord and you want an actual tend that pays
- 14:05Speaker 1: their damn bills and stead of the government paying the
- 14:07Speaker 1: bill to you. Maybe you don't trust the government. The
- 14:10Speaker 1: point is the landlord should not be taking every single
- 14:13Speaker 1: demand that is given to them in a private sector,
- 14:17Speaker 1: private contract between a tenant and an owner from the
- 14:23Speaker 1: federal government. Stay the hell out of my life. They
- 14:28Speaker 1: went on to say, states and localities need to get
- 14:30Speaker 1: that money out urgently and they can do that how
- 14:33Speaker 1: Speaker Pelosi ers Democrats and a letter Saturday night to
- 14:37Speaker 1: check into how the money already allocate has been distributed
- 14:40Speaker 1: so far in their own states and localities. She said.
- 14:44Speaker 1: The Treasury Department, which transferred the funds earlier this year,
- 14:47Speaker 1: offered to brief lawmakers next week. So this is how
- 14:49Speaker 1: far behind they are and actually like doing their job.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Biden set off the scramble by announcing Thursday he would
- 14:57Speaker 1: allow the eviction man to expire instead of challenging and
- 14:59Speaker 1: re sin Supreme Court ruling, signaling this would be the
- 15:02Speaker 1: last headline. Why because he knew who's going to lose now.
- 15:06Speaker 1: The White House quote had been clear that Biden would
- 15:08Speaker 1: have liked to extend the federal eviction morator him. This
- 15:11Speaker 1: is the This is the scumbags in the media right
- 15:14Speaker 1: covering for Biden quote. The White House has been clear
- 15:17Speaker 1: that Biden had liked to extend the federal fviction moratorim
- 15:22Speaker 1: because the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of
- 15:24Speaker 1: the coronavirus. But there were also concerns that challenging the
- 15:29Speaker 1: court could lead to a ruling restricting the administration's ability
- 15:33Speaker 1: to respond to future public health crisises. Dun dunt du. Now,
- 15:37Speaker 1: remember the main reason why the White House didn't challenge
- 15:41Speaker 1: is because in the five four vote in June, the
- 15:43Speaker 1: Supreme Court allowed the broad eviction band to continue only
- 15:46Speaker 1: through the end of July. One of those the majority
- 15:49Speaker 1: in the five was Justice Prett Kavanaugh. He met it
- 15:53Speaker 1: clear that he would block any additional extensions unless there
- 15:55Speaker 1: was clear and specific congressional authorization. Pay your bills, grow up,
- 16:04Speaker 1: stop asking for handouts. And the National Apartment Association and
- 16:08Speaker 1: several others this week file the federal lawsuit, which have
- 16:11Speaker 1: a very good chance of winning, asking the federal government
- 16:14Speaker 1: for twenty six billion in damages because the impact of
- 16:17Speaker 1: their moratorium. And landlords, if you think they like this
- 16:21Speaker 1: government money, they don't. They are against any extension. They
- 16:24Speaker 1: too are arguing for speeding up the distribution of rental assistance,
- 16:27Speaker 1: but saying we are tired of living in this limbo
- 16:30Speaker 1: with a federal government. Now let's go back to how
- 16:36Speaker 1: much money we've already been spending here. The administration is
- 16:40Speaker 1: trying to keep renters in place, they say, through other means.
- 16:42Speaker 1: It released more than one point five billion in rental
- 16:45Speaker 1: assistance in June alone. So that's how much of your
- 16:48Speaker 1: tax dollars we just spent. It's not just the housing
- 16:52Speaker 1: moratorium the Democrats are pushing for when it comes to socialism.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Give you another example. Members of the Squad Alamo mar
- 17:01Speaker 1: are now pushing a one thousand, two hundred dollars monthly
- 17:05Speaker 1: guaranteed income, includes homeless and some in US illegally, and
- 17:14Speaker 1: yet another scheme for radical Democrats to buy votes. They
- 17:20Speaker 1: have now come out with total socialism, an extreme socialist
- 17:25Speaker 1: ideal as they call it. The Representative out A Minnesota
- 17:30Speaker 1: proposed not one, but two bills on Friday that the
- 17:33Speaker 1: media is not covering. They would provide a guaranteed income
- 17:38Speaker 1: of one thousand, two hundred dollars every month to most Americans.
- 17:43Speaker 1: The two proposals were formally introduced in the Sending Unconditional
- 17:48Speaker 1: Payments to people Overcoming Resistance to Triumph also knows the
- 17:55Speaker 1: Support Act and the Genuine Progress Indicator g PI Act.
- 18:01Speaker 1: These are real. This is not a joke. The Support
- 18:04Speaker 1: Act would focus on guaranteed income programs and start by
- 18:09Speaker 1: funding pilot programs across the country from twenty twenty three
- 18:15Speaker 1: to twenty twenty seven, with two point five billion in
- 18:18Speaker 1: grants alone. The findings, they say, if the pilot program
- 18:23Speaker 1: would then be reviewed in anticipation of creating a national
- 18:25Speaker 1: program where almost every American would be guaranteed each and
- 18:30Speaker 1: every month one thousand, two hundred dollars from the federal
- 18:34Speaker 1: government starting in two twenty eight. The bill would aim
- 18:40Speaker 1: to send each American that amount of money every year
- 18:44Speaker 1: if you make less than seventy five thousand dollars a year,
- 18:47Speaker 1: or heads of household with incomes of less than one thousand,
- 18:51Speaker 1: or excuse me, one hundred and twelve thousand, five hundred
- 18:54Speaker 1: a years. So to be clear, I want you to understand,
- 18:57Speaker 1: if you and your wife, and this is where they're
- 19:01Speaker 1: going with this, and I have no doubt this is
- 19:02Speaker 1: going to have a real chance of happening, if you
- 19:05Speaker 1: make one hundred and twelve thousand dollars a year, okay,
- 19:10Speaker 1: as a family, and then you purposely don't make any
- 19:15Speaker 1: more than that, because why would you when you have
- 19:20Speaker 1: this other bill that sends you twelve hundred a month
- 19:22Speaker 1: to adults making less than seventy five a year, and
- 19:26Speaker 1: then that money could go to twenty four hundred a
- 19:28Speaker 1: month for adults combined. So if you're making let's just
- 19:32Speaker 1: do this on an individual, twelve hundred a month times
- 19:36Speaker 1: twelve months in a year is fourteen thousand, four hundred.
- 19:39Speaker 1: So you add fourteen thousand, four hundred to seventy five thousand,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you come out with ninety eighty nine four a year,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and the government's going to give you fourteen plus thousands
- 19:52Speaker 1: of that money just free. Let's talk about families. Let's
- 19:57Speaker 1: say you're making one hundred and twelve, all right, you
- 20:00Speaker 1: get extra twenty four hundred times twelve. That's twenty eight eight.
- 20:05Speaker 1: It's good money. Right now, you add your one thousand
- 20:08Speaker 1: and one twelve or one hundred and twelve thousand to that,
- 20:12Speaker 1: you're rich. You are rich one hundred and twelve, and
- 20:18Speaker 1: then you're forty eight What does that come to? One
- 20:23Speaker 1: hundred and sixty thousand and change. That's what the government
- 20:28Speaker 1: wants to give to every American or liberals, socialists. Now,
- 20:31Speaker 1: who's going to pay for this? The taxpayers? Anyone making
- 20:34Speaker 1: over seventy five thousand a year as an individual or
- 20:37Speaker 1: one hundred and twelve five as a couple are going
- 20:41Speaker 1: to get hammered. As if to ensure the bill passes
- 20:45Speaker 1: the radical left and their smell tests. It also includes
- 20:48Speaker 1: provisions you ready for this for illegal immigrants who file taxes,
- 20:52Speaker 1: and would establish a banking system through the postal service
- 20:56Speaker 1: for quote unbanked, underbanked, and individuals experience housing instability. Poverty
- 21:04Speaker 1: is a choice, Somar said in statement about the bills.
- 21:08Speaker 1: For too long, we have prioritize endless growth while millions
- 21:11Speaker 1: are homeless, hungry, or without healthcare. So she's now blaming
- 21:14Speaker 1: America's prosperity for this problem. We as a nation have
- 21:18Speaker 1: the ability to make sure everybody has their basic needs
- 21:20Speaker 1: like food, housing, and healthcare met every month, she says.
- 21:25Speaker 1: The GPI Act would include alternate economic metrics to measure
- 21:29Speaker 1: the economic wellbeing of households, calibrate and calculated through adjustments
- 21:34Speaker 1: to gross domestic product that account for positive and negative economic,
- 21:39Speaker 1: environmental and social factors that contribute to quote economic activity.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Fellow Progressive representatives that coresponds to the Support Act include
- 21:48Speaker 1: Corey Bush, Dwight Evans, Jamal Bowen. Bowman the programs would
- 21:57Speaker 1: likely have some unintended consequences. I'll give you example. During
- 22:02Speaker 1: the past year and a half, the extended unemployment benefit
- 22:04Speaker 1: provided many unemployed with an extra three hundred dollar weekly
- 22:08Speaker 1: bonus that led to the sounding one point eight million
- 22:12Speaker 1: Americans losing the desire to work as they were spoon
- 22:16Speaker 1: fed enough money through unemployment benefits, which led to grim
- 22:20Speaker 1: jobs reports paying people not to work and it worked.
- 22:24Speaker 1: There was a clear indication that once red states started
- 22:26Speaker 1: opting out of the federal unemployment program, interest in job
- 22:30Speaker 1: postings increased by five percent. Within a month of mostly
- 22:33Speaker 1: Republican led states ending the federal pandemic unemployment compensation program,
- 22:40Speaker 1: they had a thirty three percent drop in new jobless
- 22:42Speaker 1: claims in those states. Because Republicans are smart and said,
- 22:47Speaker 1: we don't want socialism, get your grown adult a double
- 22:50Speaker 1: ass back to work. The cities of Oakland and Stockton,
- 22:55Speaker 1: and the County of Merriam in California have already forged
- 22:58Speaker 1: ahead with the idea of mandating universal basic income, despite
- 23:02Speaker 1: people saying this is a bad idea. All three jurisdictions
- 23:08Speaker 1: have implemented pilot programs attest their theory that we should
- 23:12Speaker 1: distribute wealth. The wealth distribution program in Oakland is particularly
- 23:16Speaker 1: troublesome and by the way racists, as it redirects funds
- 23:20Speaker 1: only to people of color. So if you're a single
- 23:23Speaker 1: mom who's got the wrong skin color, you're screwed. In March, Rochester,
- 23:29Speaker 1: New York, Mayor Lovely Warren has up the Entity ANNY
- 23:34Speaker 1: to propose a program that would that would include not
- 23:36Speaker 1: only redistributing other people's wealth but also their property. You
- 23:43Speaker 1: heard me, their property. Mayor Warren announced, effective immediately, an
- 23:50Speaker 1: effort to exploit explore one reparations, two Universal Basic income,
- 23:56Speaker 1: and three home ownership. Mayor Warren announced today and initia
- 24:01Speaker 1: to explore the implementation of reparations, including the possible establishment
- 24:07Speaker 1: of universal basic income program as well as home ownership program.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Taking away other people's homes and giving them to others
- 24:16Speaker 1: must be nice. This is happening in the United States
- 24:19Speaker 1: of America right now. So if you think it's just
- 24:21Speaker 1: about this moratorium with COVID, it's not. These squad members
- 24:28Speaker 1: brag about being homeless for a night outside the secure capital.
- 24:32Speaker 1: What a sacrifice with a stupid stunt they did? You know?
- 24:35Speaker 1: They were out there wanting you to tell them how
- 24:37Speaker 1: great they were, how amazing they were. Because US Representative
- 24:41Speaker 1: Corey Bush spent Friday evening in early Saturday morning protesting
- 24:45Speaker 1: outside the US Capitol building against the upcoming into the
- 24:48Speaker 1: eviction moratorium. The place was totally secure. You can't get in.
- 24:57Speaker 1: They held up signs in front of the Capit well
- 25:00Speaker 1: that said housing is a human right. Corey Bush said,
- 25:06Speaker 1: many of my Democratic colleagues chose to go on vacation
- 25:08Speaker 1: early today rather than staying to vote to keep people
- 25:11Speaker 1: in their homes. I'll be sleeping outside the Capitol, Knight.
- 25:14Speaker 1: We've still got work to do. Idiots. These are idiots
- 25:20Speaker 1: that are getting elected and they're giving away things, and
- 25:23Speaker 1: they're making people dependent on the government like modern day slavery.
- 25:28Speaker 1: That is what this is. It is modern day slavery,
- 25:32Speaker 1: plain and simple, and everybody knows it. But when you
- 25:37Speaker 1: can control people the way that they're trying to control
- 25:41Speaker 1: people and make it where you can't even pay your
- 25:45Speaker 1: basic bills without them, they own you. You're totally depend
- 25:53Speaker 1: on them, and then they can do whatever the hell
- 25:54Speaker 1: they want to do to you. It's a pretty brilliant move.
- 25:58Speaker 1: It's a pretty brilliant move. All right. I want to
