- 0:38Speaker 3: having inside trading information, President saying, quote, she made a
- 0:44Speaker 3: fortune with her husband, and I think it's disgraceful. Well,
- 0:48Speaker 3: Nancy Pelosi also firing back and becoming very irritated in

- 2:44Speaker 5: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Story number one, President Donald Trump coming out swinging, calling
- 2:52Speaker 3: for a Pelosi investigation over insider trading and describing what
- 2:56Speaker 3: she has done is nothing less than disgraceful. President Donald
- 3:00Speaker 3: Trump calling for an investigation based on the facts. Why well,
- 3:06Speaker 3: he was asked about a build a band stock trading
- 3:08Speaker 3: among members of Congress. I want you to put this
- 3:11Speaker 3: into perspective of what has been reported on so you
- 3:14Speaker 3: understand the outrage here. Nancy Pelosi's current government salaries one
- 3:18Speaker 3: hundred and seventy four thousand dollars a year. Now, that's
- 3:20Speaker 3: standard pay for rank and file members of Congress. There's
- 3:23Speaker 3: other roles that may get her more money when she
- 3:25Speaker 3: was a speaker, for example, or a party leadership. But
- 3:29Speaker 3: if you look at her net worth, here is what
- 3:31Speaker 3: we know. Open Secrets, for example, estimates Nancy Pelosi's net
- 3:36Speaker 3: worth back in twenty eighteen to be one hundred and
- 3:40Speaker 3: fourteen point seven million. Now, as of mid twenty twenty four,
- 3:44Speaker 3: Investotopia estimated the couple's net worth at over two hundred
- 3:49Speaker 3: and forty million, with substantial holdings and tech stocks and
- 3:54Speaker 3: real estate forty five million alone in property, all of
- 3:58Speaker 3: this off of one hundred and seventy four thousand change
- 4:00Speaker 3: a year.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Now.
- 4:01Speaker 3: More recently, there have been new estimates. As of June one,
- 4:05Speaker 3: for example, there was a new estimate that their net
- 4:08Speaker 3: worth was well over two hundred and sixty million, including
- 4:11Speaker 3: about one hundred and twenty seven million in publicly tracked equities.
- 4:15Speaker 3: And then you look at twenty twenty four financial disclosures
- 4:19Speaker 3: show that Paul Pelosi, that's the husband of Nancy Pelosi,
- 4:23Speaker 3: earned and this is a big range between seven point
- 4:26Speaker 3: eight million and forty two point five million in twenty
- 4:29Speaker 3: twenty four alone from stock trades, boosting their estimated net
- 4:35Speaker 3: worth to as much as four one hundred and thirteen million,
- 4:39Speaker 3: a figure that's been cited by many outlets, including The Times.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Here's the other thing that you should know before I
- 4:46Speaker 3: let you hear from the President. Nancy Pelosi and her
- 4:50Speaker 3: husband's portfolio reportedly delivered a fifty four percent return in
- 4:56Speaker 3: twenty twenty four, substantially outperforming major hedge funds and the
- 5:02Speaker 3: twenty five percent historic gain in the S and P
- 5:05Speaker 3: five hundred. Notable trades included early investments in stocks exploded
- 5:10Speaker 3: like Navidia and Palo Alto Networks, as well as timely
- 5:15Speaker 3: sales of Microsoft and Visa shares ahead of regulatory scrutiny,
- 5:21Speaker 3: and the stocks came down significantly. Now, Critics argue that
- 5:25Speaker 3: Pelosi's consistent trading success may reflect access to non public information.
- 5:31Speaker 3: This is why she's making so much money, is what
- 5:34Speaker 3: many believe now. Donald Trump was asked about this at
- 5:39Speaker 3: the White House as they were talking about stopping trading
- 5:41Speaker 3: of stocks by members of Congress. And I want you
- 5:44Speaker 3: to listen carefully to what the President had to say.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Atcy Pelosi became rich by having inside information. She made
- 5:52Speaker 1: a fortune with her husband, and I think that's disgraceful.
- 5:55Speaker 1: So in that sense, I'd like it, but I'd have
- 5:57Speaker 1: to really see the you know, I study this very carefully,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and this just happened, so I'll take a look at it.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But conceptually I like it. And what I do think
- 6:06Speaker 1: is Nancy Pelosi should be investigated because what she has
- 6:10Speaker 1: the highest return of anybody practically in the history of
- 6:14Speaker 1: Wall Street save a few. And how did that happen.
- 6:19Speaker 1: It happened by she knows exactly what's going to happen,
- 6:21Speaker 1: what's going to be announced, you buy stock, and then
- 6:23Speaker 1: the stock goes up after the announcements made, and she
- 6:26Speaker 1: had to be investigated.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Now you can hear the president there make it clear
- 6:30Speaker 3: what he believes should happen. Nancy Pelosi went on CNN,
- 6:33Speaker 3: a place that's you know, extremely friendly with Jake Tapper,
- 6:37Speaker 3: someone that's helped her out with many fake stories in
- 6:39Speaker 3: the past. And what did Nancy Pelosi say, Well, Jake
- 6:44Speaker 3: Tapper apparently he's acting like he's a tough journalist and
- 6:46Speaker 3: decided to ask Pelosi a question about insider trading. Now,
- 6:51Speaker 3: of course he's saying President Trump said it not me.
- 6:54Speaker 3: You know, we're not doing any investigative work here. No, no,
- 6:56Speaker 3: we're just going to ask you about what Trump said.
- 6:59Speaker 3: And Nancy went into a Hey, I'm here to talk
- 7:03Speaker 3: about something else. I don't want to talk about this.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I'm here to talk about the sixty of the universary
- 7:07Speaker 3: of Medicaid. That's why I agree to come on here.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And then she started to ramble even more.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Listen carefully, and.
- 7:14Speaker 6: In President Trump mentioned you, and he made an allegation
- 7:17Speaker 6: about your investments. I want to roll that clip and
- 7:19Speaker 6: then give you a chance to respond. Let me just
- 7:21Speaker 6: read what he said. I'm sorry that we had some
- 7:23Speaker 6: sort of technicalish. Nancy Pelosi became.
- 7:25Speaker 7: Rich, I might have to read that. We're here to
- 7:27Speaker 7: talk about the sixtieth anniversary of Medicaid. That's what I
- 7:30Speaker 7: agreed to come to talk.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Yeah, but I wanted you to That means in.
- 7:33Speaker 6: The election, I wanted to give you a chances to respond.
- 7:35Speaker 6: He accused you of insider trading. What's your response to that?
- 7:38Speaker 7: That's very ridiculous. In fact, I very much support the
- 7:42Speaker 7: stop the trading of members of Congress not that I
- 7:45Speaker 7: think anybody's doing anything wrong. If they are, they are
- 7:49Speaker 7: prosecuted and they go to jail. But because of the
- 7:53Speaker 7: confidence and it stills in the American people don't worry
- 7:56Speaker 7: about this. But I have no concern of about the
- 8:00Speaker 7: obvious investments that had been made over time. I'm not
- 8:05Speaker 7: into it. My husband is, but it isn't anything to
- 8:08Speaker 7: do with anything insider. But the president has his own exposure,
- 8:12Speaker 7: so he's always projecting. He's always projecting, and let's not
- 8:16Speaker 7: give him any more time on that.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Please.
- 8:18Speaker 7: We're going forward here, and I'm very proud of my family.
- 8:22Speaker 7: And while he might make fun of us, while somebody
- 8:25Speaker 7: inspired by him breaks into our home and hits my
- 8:28Speaker 7: husband in a deadly fashion, hits my husband over the head,
- 8:31Speaker 7: and he thinks that's a riot, I'd rather not go
- 8:34Speaker 7: into some of my other complaints about him right now,
- 8:37Speaker 7: rather to talk about the sixtieth anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare.
- 8:41Speaker 7: What a triumph, a great pillar of economic and health
- 8:45Speaker 7: security for the American people. We had over the weekend,
- 8:51Speaker 7: carrying across generations initiative of a sixty a sixty hour
- 8:57Speaker 7: vigil of all of us taking turns myself, of my daughter,
- 9:00Speaker 7: my granddaughter, and all the rest, taking turns over sixty
- 9:03Speaker 7: hours to tell stories of how all of this, well,
- 9:08Speaker 7: all this means in people's lives. We since, just since
- 9:13Speaker 7: all this has emerged, have had three hundred thousand calls
- 9:16Speaker 7: from our Californians, two people in public health districts, for
- 9:21Speaker 7: them to call the constituents to call their Republican members
- 9:27Speaker 7: of Congress who have voted for this shameful, shameful, dirty, filthy,
- 9:32Speaker 7: steak and lousy, rotten, anything but beautiful act. And now
- 9:36Speaker 7: we are engaged in the Save Medicaid Summer. So today
- 9:41Speaker 7: is the sixtieth energy It's something to be very very
- 9:45Speaker 7: proud of. And instead of what the Republicans are doing
- 9:48Speaker 7: to deprive people of access to healthcare who need it
- 9:51Speaker 7: so badly, people with disabilities who need it so bad
- 9:54Speaker 7: for the children, let me ask you need it so badly.
- 9:57Speaker 5: There are two things we just have to go back to.
- 9:59Speaker 5: In this audio.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Number one, Pelosi tried to dodge the question of incenter trading,
- 10:03Speaker 3: then saying I'm not into it.
- 10:04Speaker 5: My husband is. Yes, she said that here's the receipt.
- 10:08Speaker 7: I'm not into it. My husband is.
- 10:10Speaker 5: One thing is for sure. Nancy Pelosi.
- 10:13Speaker 3: She's nervous, and she's pointing her finger to her husband, saying,
- 10:17Speaker 3: I don't do anything. I don't know anything. I'm not
- 10:19Speaker 3: into anything insider. And oh, by the way, let me
- 10:23Speaker 3: point ad Donald Trump. You know, he's got his own exposure,
- 10:25Speaker 3: so he's always projecting. He's always projecting. Yes, that is
- 10:30Speaker 3: Nancy Pelosi's response to being worth hundreds of millions of
- 10:34Speaker 3: dollars on one hundred and seventy four thousand dollars salary.
- 10:38Speaker 3: So if you want to know why Donald Trump said
- 10:40Speaker 3: you should be investigated, well maybe just listen to Nancy
- 10:42Speaker 3: Pelosi's own word.
