- 0:35Speaker 1: only Jermaine Carter. How are you doing, sir? Hey, what's
- 0:38Speaker 1: going on? Boss? How are you doing? I mean, first
- 0:40Speaker 1: of all, that intro is, thank you for that intro
- 0:43Speaker 1: that I started looking like, wait, who's he talking about?
- 0:46Speaker 1: So you for that intro, um, And I'm just excited
- 0:50Speaker 1: to be here. Um. Done a little research on you, Willie,
- 0:53Speaker 1: a lot of research search on you. So just excited
- 0:56Speaker 1: to be a part of this, this interview and everything
- 0:58Speaker 1: that you guys got going on over there. You know
- 1:02Speaker 1: this is about you, you know, it's about because I
- 1:05Speaker 1: try to take the interviews and just show people that
- 1:07Speaker 1: you're just a regular person. God is giving you a talent,
- 1:10Speaker 1: and instead of running from it, or instead of being
- 1:13Speaker 1: afraid to step out there and be different, you are
- 1:16Speaker 1: doing it. But it still comes with bumps, it still
- 1:19Speaker 1: comes with excitement, still comes with celebration, but it still
- 1:22Speaker 1: is a journey and you have not stopped dreaming. And
- 1:24Speaker 1: that's what this interview is about. And so you're young guy,
- 1:27Speaker 1: You're out there, You're meeting talented people. Are I mentioned
- 1:30Speaker 1: a lot of famous people in this in your intro?
- 1:33Speaker 1: How does that correlate with what are you trying to
- 1:35Speaker 1: do so you can make sure you you develop your
- 1:38Speaker 1: name your brand Germain Um, Well, first of all, I
- 1:45Speaker 1: named my company years ago before I've ever been to Hollywood.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I named it before I go Hollywood, so that already
- 1:51Speaker 1: lets you know, like my mindset UM And my first
- 1:54Speaker 1: album was called Now or Never, so that lets you
- 1:57Speaker 1: know my mindset. I'm always one of those types of
- 1:59Speaker 1: people that look at the glass it's half full, and
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'm always that type of person. I want to surround
- 2:04Speaker 1: myself with greatness, surround myself with positive people, surround myself
- 2:08Speaker 1: with people that's head it in the same direction as me.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Are people that's already there um to the destination where
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm trying to get. So so they become mentors in
- 2:18Speaker 1: a way for you when you see them and they
- 2:20Speaker 1: can tell you. Because one thing I love about the
- 2:23Speaker 1: younger generation because a lot of y'all get wraps because
- 2:25Speaker 1: you know, people say, y'all want to take it easy. Y'all,
- 2:28Speaker 1: y'all lazy, y'all don't want to work hard for I say,
- 2:31Speaker 1: y'all take advantage of technology. You know, I grew up.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I was born the rotor Ydale telephones was out there. Okay,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you born in the internet, the social media, video phones,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you should take advantage of that. How do you take
- 2:46Speaker 1: advantage of it through social media outside of the relationship
- 2:50Speaker 1: that you meet physically. Well, I would say with the
- 2:54Speaker 1: social media thing, it's just that it's like the whole
- 2:57Speaker 1: world is available to you. Like you said, like maybe
- 3:00Speaker 1: when you were doing it, you you probably had you
- 3:03Speaker 1: had to physically do everything right, so you you had
- 3:06Speaker 1: to go meet people at a party probably within your city.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You probably wasn't meeting people in London. You weren't meeting
- 3:12Speaker 1: people in Asia. You weren't meeting people in Africa, but now, um,
- 3:17Speaker 1: which is a huge advantage, and so anyone that's not
- 3:20Speaker 1: taking the advantage of that, it is Yeah, I don't
- 3:23Speaker 1: know what to tell you, but it is a huge
- 3:25Speaker 1: advantage because now I could get on this phone, like
- 3:28Speaker 1: we're talking right now, You're in a complete different city,
- 3:31Speaker 1: complete different state, completely you know, you like somewhere completely
- 3:34Speaker 1: different than me. I'm in Los Angeles right now, but
- 3:37Speaker 1: somehow we're conducting this dope interview. UM, just based off
- 3:41Speaker 1: of this phone and based off the technology. So it
- 3:43Speaker 1: go the same way with creating fans, creating customers, creating anything. UM.
- 3:48Speaker 1: You you definitely have the advantage nowadays, but with it
- 3:53Speaker 1: being in the advantage, it becomes a disadvantage too because
- 3:56Speaker 1: at the same time, everyone's doing it Versus if you
- 4:01Speaker 1: are a hustling back in the day and you're doing
- 4:03Speaker 1: something back in the day, you might have had a
- 4:05Speaker 1: couple of people to compete with, but now you have
- 4:08Speaker 1: the world to with. If the grandma decided to pick
- 4:11Speaker 1: up the phone because she's want to do a rap,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and then she could without just like you could throw
- 4:16Speaker 1: it out. People pay attention to that quicker than they
- 4:19Speaker 1: made patents into your stuff, you know, because I really, really,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know something, Just tell you something, Germain. I've interviewed
- 4:27Speaker 1: a lot of people, but you hit it dead on
- 4:29Speaker 1: the nail right there, because of the fact that time
- 4:32Speaker 1: allows me. Like I said, I remember when I started
- 4:35Speaker 1: doing pause parties, you know, passing out my flies and
- 4:38Speaker 1: all that. Now fast forward today, you know, somebody post
- 4:44Speaker 1: on social media, they got followers. It's in New Zealand,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it's in Canada, it's in Brazil, it's wherever that feed
- 4:51Speaker 1: takes that brand. But that could be scary too, because
- 4:54Speaker 1: I just read where you know, you know, the star
- 4:57Speaker 1: of the Spider Man series. You know, he's taking the
- 5:00Speaker 1: to break from his social media because what he reads
- 5:03Speaker 1: on a constant basis, How do you deal with social media?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Because we're seeing more and more people, especially people of color,
- 5:10Speaker 1: acknowledging the mental stress. There used to be that we
- 5:15Speaker 1: would never tell we had weakness. Black people would always
- 5:18Speaker 1: hide that and hold that back in. But mental stress
- 5:21Speaker 1: is a real big problem talk to us. So yeah, um,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I mean, as as far as me, I try not to,
- 5:29Speaker 1: like I said a little earlier, like I'm a glass
- 5:31Speaker 1: half full. Type of person. So the biggest thing, like
- 5:35Speaker 1: with this with social media, is just knowing who you
- 5:39Speaker 1: are and knowing what you're there for. You have to
- 5:42Speaker 1: know who you are. If you don't know who you are,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you you're gonna have problems in life period because someone
- 5:46Speaker 1: can tell you're something else that someone could say, you
- 5:49Speaker 1: look ugly, are you stupid? Are you you're broke? Are
- 5:52Speaker 1: you like our look at you because of the color
- 5:55Speaker 1: you're skin, and you will feel insecure about that. But
- 5:58Speaker 1: once you know who you are, you know what you represent,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know what you stand for, then at that point
- 6:04Speaker 1: it's harder to you know, I'm not saying it's easy,
- 6:07Speaker 1: because we all go through it, right, Like, we all
- 6:09Speaker 1: want validation sometimes from other people, and that's where we
- 6:13Speaker 1: get stuck. When we want that other person to say
- 6:15Speaker 1: we look good. We want that other person to say
- 6:17Speaker 1: and in Spider Man's case, oh you did an amazing
- 6:20Speaker 1: job on that movie, or you're this or you're that.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But unfortunately success come with hey, you know what I mean?
- 6:26Speaker 1: And and that's just how it is, like say, no
- 6:30Speaker 1: matter what it is, like, imagine like you could be
- 6:32Speaker 1: the person that's trying to start a barbershop you know,
- 6:35Speaker 1: and and you you you're gonna have friends and family
- 6:38Speaker 1: that don't support it, or they're gonna try to limit
- 6:41Speaker 1: you to what you could do. They're gonna try to
- 6:43Speaker 1: be like, oh, I don't know, you sure you're gonna
- 6:45Speaker 1: do a barbershop. You know they're not they're not successful
- 6:48Speaker 1: like that at the percentage of like, they're gonna feed
- 6:51Speaker 1: you different things to detroy you to to to make
- 6:55Speaker 1: make you pretty much go away from what you're trying
- 6:58Speaker 1: to do. And this happens all the time on so um.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You just gotta be strong minded, know who you are
- 7:04Speaker 1: and know where you're headed, know where you're going, and
- 7:06Speaker 1: not allow nobody to slow you down or stop that.
- 7:09Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 7:13Speaker 1: with Rushan McDonald. Now, let's return to Money Making Conversations
- 7:18Speaker 1: Masterclass with Rashan McDonald's talking to the CEO before before
- 7:23Speaker 1: I go Hollywood. Jermaine Carter a kid and Jane Young
- 7:27Speaker 1: the million dollar kid. You know I said earlier, he's
- 7:30Speaker 1: a rapper, he's a model, he's an actor, multi multi entertainer.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But more importantly, he's an entrepreneur and a businessman. And
- 7:38Speaker 1: that's really where the new model is nowadays because you
- 7:41Speaker 1: used to go out and people just with performers. Now
- 7:45Speaker 1: we have your entrepreneur. What allows you to be able
- 7:49Speaker 1: to be at our business person? Is it because you
- 7:51Speaker 1: want to understand how to maximize your income and opportunities
- 7:58Speaker 1: versus just being a town Well with me, I always
- 8:03Speaker 1: believed that I wanted equity in anything I do. Like
- 8:06Speaker 1: since I was a kid, all of the people that
- 8:08Speaker 1: I admired, well, you know, it started as just admiring
- 8:11Speaker 1: the talent, but then I started looking behind the scenes, like, okay,
- 8:14Speaker 1: who's involved with this? Like, and I saw the people
- 8:17Speaker 1: that literally had the generational wealth and the people that
- 8:21Speaker 1: chance kids kids were getting fed off. It was the owners,
- 8:24Speaker 1: the people that owned the publishing with music, the people
- 8:28Speaker 1: that owned businesses, that owned real estate, that owned McDonald's,
- 8:31Speaker 1: that owned whatever. Those were the people who were able
- 8:35Speaker 1: to take care of their families for the long haul,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you know. And always thought about it. I know, and
- 8:41Speaker 1: I love my mom. My mom took very good care
- 8:43Speaker 1: care me as a kid and um and and everything.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But always when I when I grew up, I had
- 8:49Speaker 1: nothing and I had nothing to inherit here, like I'm
- 8:53Speaker 1: the first person that had this mindset that started from
- 8:56Speaker 1: ground zero. So I didn't. I don't my kids, kids
- 9:01Speaker 1: kids to have to do that. So I have to
- 9:04Speaker 1: be entrepreneur, I have to have to have equity and
- 9:06Speaker 1: everything I do, I have to be able to one day,
- 9:10Speaker 1: UM make their life easier than mine. And I feel
- 9:12Speaker 1: like that's the goal for everyone, UM is to make
- 9:15Speaker 1: sure that your family's life is easier than yours. That's
- 9:18Speaker 1: what we're put here to do. We're put here to
- 9:20Speaker 1: enjoy ourselves, put here to take care of our family
- 9:22Speaker 1: and make sure that your family's life is better than
- 9:26Speaker 1: yours are they have a better start. If I started
- 9:28Speaker 1: at ground zero, which I did, I should be able
- 9:31Speaker 1: to at least uh pass my kids down ground five
- 9:35Speaker 1: or ground tens. So they started a tend instead of
- 9:37Speaker 1: the zero. And that's where and that's what's been happening
- 9:40Speaker 1: to the Royal families and are to to uh just
- 9:44Speaker 1: different races. They've always been able to leave their kids something,
- 9:47Speaker 1: whether it's a house, whether it's a little bit of money,
- 9:51Speaker 1: whether it's some stocks, whatever it is, they left from something,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know, and that's what I'm doing for you know.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I it was inter my life has been interesting because
- 10:01Speaker 1: I remember when I look at you being a multi
- 10:03Speaker 1: talented individual. I remember in October one that was a
- 10:08Speaker 1: that was a day for me because I really I
- 10:11Speaker 1: had a talk with myself and it was motivated by
- 10:14Speaker 1: my belief. And my faith was that I asked card
- 10:17Speaker 1: if he allowed me to just to maximize all my
- 10:21Speaker 1: talents that I would give, I would not I will
- 10:25Speaker 1: not cheat the gifts. And when I see you a
- 10:29Speaker 1: model actor, you know, rapper, you know, entrepreneur, a businessman.
- 10:35Speaker 1: When you look at maximizing your talents, how do you
- 10:38Speaker 1: do that? Jermaine? How do you how do you decipher
- 10:42Speaker 1: and monitor and multitask all that not just in a
- 10:45Speaker 1: daily basis, but a weekly and a monthly basis. I
- 10:50Speaker 1: think the biggest thing for me is passion. I just
- 10:53Speaker 1: have a passion for it. I don't do anything that
- 10:56Speaker 1: I don't love, you know, like I could do. I'm
- 11:00Speaker 1: pretty sure I'm one of those types of people that
- 11:03Speaker 1: could do anything I want to do, Like there's nothing
- 11:06Speaker 1: I can do if I put my mind too. But
- 11:07Speaker 1: I'm not gonna put my mind that everything. I'm only
- 11:09Speaker 1: gonna put my mind to things I genuinely love. I
- 11:12Speaker 1: love music, so that's why I do it. I love
- 11:16Speaker 1: acting and film, That's why I do it. I love hustling.
- 11:19Speaker 1: That's why I'm an entrepreneur. I just have a passion
- 11:22Speaker 1: for Like, that's the things that make me happy. Now,
- 11:25Speaker 1: if it didn't make me happy, there's things I've tried
- 11:28Speaker 1: that was like m m, yeah, that's not for me,
- 11:31Speaker 1: you know. But if it wasn't the fact that I
- 11:33Speaker 1: couldn't do it, well, it's just I just didn't have
- 11:35Speaker 1: a passion for it. That's not what I lay. I know.
- 11:37Speaker 1: If I don't love something, I'm not gonna do it
- 11:39Speaker 1: well because I'm not gonna give it my all. So
- 11:42Speaker 1: I feel like one of the biggest things to begin
- 11:44Speaker 1: with is finding your passion. What do you love to do?
- 11:47Speaker 1: So if you find something that you love to do
- 11:49Speaker 1: that you would do for free, although you want to
- 11:52Speaker 1: make money eventually, but you would do this thing for free,
- 11:55Speaker 1: then that's your passion. And then you wake up and
- 11:58Speaker 1: you're smelling and then bring you joy of bring you happiness.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That's your passion. So that's something that you will naturally
- 12:04Speaker 1: excel in because you already love it to begin with.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Now there's three things. Then I always say don't put
- 12:11Speaker 1: your eggs in one basket, do all three, you know,
- 12:14Speaker 1: like and see what's for you, and then maybe two
- 12:17Speaker 1: of them get weeded out and you're only doing one
- 12:19Speaker 1: thing or maybe one thing to work for you at
- 12:21Speaker 1: the moment, and then you transition at the other things,
- 12:25Speaker 1: like sometimes music works for me, and then and film's
- 12:29Speaker 1: not going on, and then I do that, and then
- 12:31Speaker 1: a film opportunity comes up, so now I'm doing film.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And then I'm doing film, and a modeling opportunity comes up,
- 12:37Speaker 1: so now I'm gonna do modeling. I'm gonna run with
- 12:39Speaker 1: the opportunity at the same time while I'm still doing
- 12:42Speaker 1: everything and going in the right direction. You know, my
- 12:46Speaker 1: career path. I love it. I'm speaking to a Jamaine Card.
- 12:49Speaker 1: How did how did m d K? Million dollar kid?
- 12:51Speaker 1: How did you get How did that become part of
- 12:53Speaker 1: your brain? How did that become part of your brain?
- 12:55Speaker 1: Because I love it? Well. When I when I was
- 12:57Speaker 1: when I was a little kid, they used to tell
- 12:59Speaker 1: me looked like a million dollars, and I love it.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So I went from I was I was just Jay
- 13:05Speaker 1: young at the time, and um and I had a
- 13:09Speaker 1: friend also who U should call itself a million dollar
- 13:11Speaker 1: Man based off of Ted d beonce the wrestler, right right.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So I kind of got that name from I was
- 13:18Speaker 1: thinking of a name, like an extra name, like an
- 13:20Speaker 1: A k A. And he was like, men, he looked
- 13:22Speaker 1: like a million dollars. So on set of calling myself
- 13:24Speaker 1: a million dollar man, I went with a million dollar kid,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and then eventually I nailed it down to J Young
- 13:31Speaker 1: M d K instead of being like j Young the
- 13:33Speaker 1: million dollar Kids, so it became m d K. Right. Well,
- 13:37Speaker 1: I first off just to predate that it was a brand,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and I'm sure being the business person you are, you
- 13:43Speaker 1: think trademarked it and got it all right, cool, let's
- 13:47Speaker 1: just do it right. You are a businessman when I
- 13:49Speaker 1: when I thought these famous names. And then you know
- 13:51Speaker 1: your stage with Snoop, your stage with you know, we
- 13:54Speaker 1: know his career, one of the olds a rap, you know, Dion,
- 13:58Speaker 1: stage with the Oscar Winner and James Fox, then you
- 14:01Speaker 1: don't stay with CARTI Wayne, Then your stage with Gary On.
- 14:05Speaker 1: That's a lot of different people you're hanging with, man,
- 14:07Speaker 1: that's a lot of different you know, uh brands, How
- 14:12Speaker 1: do you how do you float like that? Come on,
- 14:14Speaker 1: Jermaine Talk to us. You know what's so crazy? Every
- 14:18Speaker 1: since ever since I was young, I'm a master networker.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Like I've mastered networking. Right, This is what I've always
- 14:26Speaker 1: tell people. If Obama was in my city, somehow I
- 14:29Speaker 1: would end up at the party wheld Obama was gonna
- 14:32Speaker 1: be in a section with Obama. It's just like that's
- 14:35Speaker 1: just my life, Like every single time is just you
- 14:38Speaker 1: attract with you know, You're just the energy, it's the hustle,
- 14:41Speaker 1: it's what you attract, you know. Um So it's just
- 14:45Speaker 1: always worked like that for me. I've never been afraid either.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I've never been afraid. I'm the person that when I
- 14:51Speaker 1: see something and people are like, oh wait, that's jay Z,
- 14:54Speaker 1: don't go over there, because you know that's exactly where
- 14:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I'm going directly to what I'm I'm
- 15:00Speaker 1: not afraid to hear now. And that's important because people know,
- 15:05Speaker 1: in fear kind of married itself, you know, because of
- 15:08Speaker 1: people don't want to make that transition, don't want to
- 15:11Speaker 1: because of fear of rejection, fear what people might think
- 15:14Speaker 1: of them. That is a that is an incredible leap
- 15:18Speaker 1: for a young person. And how do you make that
- 15:21Speaker 1: leap and then with people question you, Jay, how do
- 15:25Speaker 1: you resist? Uh? Not been falling victim to their questioning
- 15:29Speaker 1: or doubts because their doubts or their doubts, Like I'll
- 15:35Speaker 1: believe that and go back to when you say believe
- 15:37Speaker 1: in yourself, like, um, Tom Brady know if he throw
- 15:41Speaker 1: the ball that he know how he This is what
- 15:44Speaker 1: I would say, Not even Tom Brady and he's a
- 15:46Speaker 1: he's a god and football right. But let's go to
- 15:48Speaker 1: Steph Curry for example. Steph Curry could close his eyes
- 15:52Speaker 1: and make the shot. Why because he put in that
- 15:55Speaker 1: much work to practice that hard. It's not the game.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It's not because of the game. Is because of the practice.
- 16:02Speaker 1: He knows what he's He know the hours he put in,
- 16:05Speaker 1: He know the work that he put in. So by
- 16:07Speaker 1: the time he gets to you and he makes the
- 16:10Speaker 1: shot or he shoot the shot, he knows what's gonna
- 16:12Speaker 1: go in. So he can't He don't have time for
- 16:14Speaker 1: people to be like you imagine he was very small
- 16:16Speaker 1: coming out of college, people like he would never work
- 16:18Speaker 1: in the NBA, and he ended up being a person
- 16:21Speaker 1: that transformed the whole NBA to where everybody want to
- 16:24Speaker 1: shoot threes now everybody's shooting threes from half court. And
- 16:28Speaker 1: that's that's based on the simple fact that he practiced,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and he practiced, he became confident and confidence, you know,
- 16:34Speaker 1: like you get confidence with with with practice, you know
- 16:37Speaker 1: you're good. So nobody else have to validate that you're
- 16:39Speaker 1: gonna be good, or you're gonna be okay or nothing.
- 16:42Speaker 1: You just you work, keep working on yourself, put your
- 16:45Speaker 1: head down, go straight. Don't worry about what people say.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You know, when people say bad things about you, don't
- 16:51Speaker 1: listen to him. People say great things about you. Listen
- 16:53Speaker 1: to it a little bit, but just keep working, working.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Now we're you know, we got the pandemic out there,
- 17:02Speaker 1: we got the George Floyd's situation. But here's my man,
- 17:05Speaker 1: Jay Young. In twenty he made history being the first
- 17:09Speaker 1: artist to release a four rap album and r B
- 17:12Speaker 1: album on the same day. Now, that's what I'm talking about.
- 17:16Speaker 1: How you continue to push the limits. Now, when this
- 17:20Speaker 1: idea came to you, that's I always telling about. When
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm saying that, you know, and it's not a negative statement,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but people were pushing go that's crazy. Why do that
- 17:27Speaker 1: final final land? You're trying to do too much because
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm sure all those statements came at you, but you
- 17:32Speaker 1: did it anyway. What did you gain by doing that? Well,
- 17:37Speaker 1: first of all, I heard that all my life when
- 17:39Speaker 1: it comes to that, you're doing too much because I'm
- 17:41Speaker 1: I was an athlete first, so I played football, played
- 17:44Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball. Um, I played wide receiver,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I played defensive back, running back, everything, So I was
- 17:50Speaker 1: already I've always been used to being a slash type
- 17:53Speaker 1: of player playing on both sides, so that that helped
- 17:57Speaker 1: me going into regular life when it come to doing
- 18:00Speaker 1: other things. So naturally, I just love to feel challenge
- 18:05Speaker 1: like so I'm and I'm always thinking of what's the
- 18:07Speaker 1: next thing that nobody else has done? Are very few
- 18:10Speaker 1: have done? You know? So that that's how at the time,
- 18:15Speaker 1: I was doing a thing called fifty Songs fifty Weeks.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That was I was released one song every week for
- 18:20Speaker 1: fifty weeks. So while dropping a lot of music dropping weekly,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I was like, man, I might as well put together
- 18:27Speaker 1: a full body of work, you know, And and the
- 18:31Speaker 1: beauty about the fifty songs fifty weeks and you didn't
- 18:33Speaker 1: know what you're gonna get. I was dropping rap records,
- 18:36Speaker 1: I was dropping on the records. You just didn't know.
- 18:39Speaker 1: You had to tune in to see what you can get.
- 18:42Speaker 1: So so I said, you know what, Let's drop two albums.
- 18:46Speaker 1: First of all, one could be R and B. One
- 18:48Speaker 1: could be wrapped, since I'm releasing a lot of a boat.
- 18:51Speaker 1: And I was like, wait, let's drop it on the
- 18:53Speaker 1: same day, because nobody's ever done that. I mean, they're
- 18:56Speaker 1: sure there's been double albums, like Tupac All Eyes on
- 18:59Speaker 1: Me was the first Upble album, but it was a
- 19:01Speaker 1: double rap album. It wasn't like one R and B
- 19:04Speaker 1: album and want rap album, like two different genres. So
- 19:06Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, that would be cool. Because I'm
- 19:08Speaker 1: already doing something called fifty songs fifty weeks, why not
- 19:11Speaker 1: do two albums one day. And that's how that happened.
- 19:14Speaker 1: And the reaction was, I mean, every news outlet, everybody
- 19:19Speaker 1: picked it up. And it was happening during the pandemic
- 19:22Speaker 1: at the same time when a lot of people weren't
- 19:25Speaker 1: really they were signed with labels. And that go back
- 19:27Speaker 1: to your independence and your equity and your ownership. Because
- 19:30Speaker 1: I was able to decide what I wanted to do
- 19:33Speaker 1: and when I wanted to do it, I didn't have
- 19:35Speaker 1: to wait for a label to say, nah, it's a pandemic. Um,
- 19:39Speaker 1: we're not gonna allow you to drop music, you know.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So I was able to on my own say I'm
- 19:45Speaker 1: gonna release this much music. Okay, Now, I'm gonna drop
- 19:47Speaker 1: two albums on the same day. Okay, Um a couple
- 19:50Speaker 1: of months later, I want to release another album. To
- 19:52Speaker 1: making three albums within three months. Like you know, it
- 19:55Speaker 1: was just whatever we wanted to do. We'll be right
- 19:57Speaker 1: back with more Money Making Conversations Master Class with Rushan McDonald. Now,
- 20:04Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I'm talking to the CEO before I go Hollywood. Now now,
- 20:13Speaker 1: Jamie Foxx new movie on Netflix Day Shift. This we're
- 20:18Speaker 1: talking about, right, okay, day now. I saw it this,
- 20:21Speaker 1: I saw it Saturday, okay, love. I loved it. And then,
- 20:24Speaker 1: to my understanding, you got some music and they ship.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Is that correct? Yes, sir, So they shaid, first of off,
- 20:33Speaker 1: you haven't seen it, they should yet, make sure you
- 20:35Speaker 1: go to net First of all, it's the number one
- 20:37Speaker 1: movielix in the world. Literally, it's a hundred and fifteen countries,
- 20:42Speaker 1: is number one in right, now the day Let me straight,
- 20:46Speaker 1: it's a hundred and ninety countries. If I'm gonna get
- 20:49Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about Jamie. Let's talk about it. The
- 20:52Speaker 1: novel one movie on Netflix. Okay, this is the second number,
- 20:57Speaker 1: the number one ship Calm, he had the number want
- 21:00Speaker 1: moving forward that now it's countries, my man, Jay Young,
- 21:06Speaker 1: I'm interviewing it right now, bowling with some music and
- 21:10Speaker 1: day Shift. If you don't just watch this shift, stop
- 21:13Speaker 1: what you're doing right now. Snooping it, franco in it.
- 21:17Speaker 1: It's ballers whoa uncle? Snoop in that thing? You you
- 21:25Speaker 1: you gotta go see it. Um so yeah, speaking to that.
- 21:28Speaker 1: So you see this right here. BSB actually is right there.
- 21:32Speaker 1: So that's the name of our group, the bs B Boys,
- 21:35Speaker 1: So that that can assess to me Jamie Fox and
- 21:39Speaker 1: my guy Sam. So what we did is, um, during
- 21:43Speaker 1: every song, I mean during every movie, Fox releases a
- 21:46Speaker 1: song or he has a song on the movie. So
- 21:49Speaker 1: this one is called um Bud. It's called Mowing Down Vamps.
- 21:53Speaker 1: So you gotta check it out. Um super crazy. Actually
- 21:58Speaker 1: the video the video um that Netflix is gonna release
- 22:01Speaker 1: something today and the official video comes out tomorrow. So
- 22:05Speaker 1: that's okay, I said. My newsletter goes out to my
- 22:09Speaker 1: fans six or six thousand every Wednesday at ten am.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Can I get that video today? Oh yeah, get your teller.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Tell everybody get me that video so I can drop
- 22:20Speaker 1: it in my newsletter to marrow. Man, I get thirty
- 22:23Speaker 1: five open rate. My fans opened my newsletter. Okay, so
- 22:27Speaker 1: please get that to me the Jay get that because
- 22:30Speaker 1: because Man, I really appreciate this interview. I love your energy,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and I want this relationship to continue. But I want
- 22:35Speaker 1: to I want to ship before as we close out, man,
- 22:37Speaker 1: because violence is you know, you know, I grew up
- 22:40Speaker 1: in the whole rap when it's first exploded, and it
- 22:43Speaker 1: seemed to calm down. But now it seems like every time,
- 22:46Speaker 1: at least every month or every quarter or young rapper
- 22:49Speaker 1: is becoming a victim of senseless violence within the rap
- 22:53Speaker 1: community on stage, you know, at the house, at their
- 22:57Speaker 1: apartment in the streets. What has happening there? What am
- 23:00Speaker 1: I missing? What information? Could you can tell me? They
- 23:03Speaker 1: can help me out? You know, it's it's so much.
- 23:09Speaker 1: It's I feel like it's so much. You know, me
- 23:11Speaker 1: being from Atlanta living in Atlanta, um like I see
- 23:15Speaker 1: a firsthand, like I'm seeing people get locked up, I'm
- 23:19Speaker 1: seeing people get killed. I know friends has gotten killed.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I feel like, not even just music right now, the
- 23:26Speaker 1: state that we're living in, definitely in America, man, as
- 23:29Speaker 1: a young black America, it's just it's bad. It's bad.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You know, like everybody, everybody determined knowledge and the raps
- 23:38Speaker 1: and everybody talking about my ops ops, I have to
- 23:42Speaker 1: go kill this person. No that's not your ops. But um, everybody, everybody,
- 23:47Speaker 1: it's like and and also you have to think about
- 23:51Speaker 1: the record labels that's actually promoting this stuff. I mean,
- 23:54Speaker 1: you can't you can't say anything about the LGBT community
- 23:59Speaker 1: or you will be ansled. But you could go you
- 24:01Speaker 1: can talk about killing the black man and it's gonna
- 24:04Speaker 1: be the number one song on the radio. So what
- 24:07Speaker 1: is what messages that sending to us? And you got
- 24:10Speaker 1: all these people who are coming from poverty, who have nothing,
- 24:13Speaker 1: who um who Who's who's promoting a certain lifestyle and
- 24:19Speaker 1: and getting rich off of it. But maybe it's one
- 24:21Speaker 1: or two people are tem people out of the city
- 24:23Speaker 1: that got rich off there's thousands of people that's getting
- 24:27Speaker 1: killed off of it, you know, for the same lifestyle
- 24:29Speaker 1: that that we're promoting. But it's just I don't know
- 24:33Speaker 1: with the state because I'm not involved in that type
- 24:35Speaker 1: of stuff, but I do see it, and I just
- 24:38Speaker 1: feel like the promotion of it, the promotion of it,
- 24:40Speaker 1: it sounds cool, but it's real stuff Like this is
- 24:43Speaker 1: the craziest generation of music ever. I remember when when
- 24:47Speaker 1: you had like the jay z s and all these
- 24:49Speaker 1: people talking about they talking about things they used to
- 24:52Speaker 1: do that they were over now that they weren't doing.
- 24:55Speaker 1: This is a generation that's like I slid on my
- 24:58Speaker 1: I went and shot at my kill of them, and
- 25:00Speaker 1: they really did it. And they're really doing it at
- 25:03Speaker 1: the time when they're saying it, it's the craziest thing
- 25:05Speaker 1: I've ever seen in my life. Um. But and and
- 25:09Speaker 1: how do we fix it? I don't know completely. I
- 25:12Speaker 1: would be lying if I said I know how to
- 25:14Speaker 1: fix it because it's been so many years of gangs
- 25:17Speaker 1: going at each other. This person killed that person. Now
- 25:20Speaker 1: this person have to get revenge and the other person
- 25:23Speaker 1: now they've got to go get revenge, and now they're
- 25:25Speaker 1: back at it again. It's just like it's it's crazy.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I don't know how it stops. I don't know. Um,
- 25:31Speaker 1: I know how it stops. It stops with this conversations,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you know, and also with us, and you know us,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you know you know the answer. First of all, you know,
- 25:43Speaker 1: you're you're so articularly you're you're very small. You you
- 25:46Speaker 1: you're educating me. Okay, you know I would tell you
- 25:49Speaker 1: drop three things on me that I'm I'm gonna take
- 25:52Speaker 1: away from this. So I feel that's a blessing from
- 25:54Speaker 1: this interview. But how it stopped really is is a
- 25:57Speaker 1: respect and being humble and being willing to walk away.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And that's a problem. You know, people don't want to
- 26:03Speaker 1: walk away, and then people want to issue threats and ultimatums,
- 26:08Speaker 1: and then people are challenging them, unfortunately, challenging them with violence,
- 26:12Speaker 1: and that just leads us to go why. But more
- 26:15Speaker 1: importantly that you know, your career is, as they said,
- 26:18Speaker 1: this way, with a lot of prayer, a lot of inspirations,
- 26:21Speaker 1: and a lot of success tied to it. I just
- 26:23Speaker 1: want to thank you Jermaine Card for taking the time
- 26:24Speaker 1: to come on Money Making Conversation, master class man. Thank
- 26:29Speaker 1: you for having me. And obviously this cannot be the
- 26:31Speaker 1: last time. Oh no, no, I seriously, when you drop
- 26:35Speaker 1: three things on me, man, and I love you. You
- 26:37Speaker 1: remind me of so many people that I that I
- 26:41Speaker 1: you know, my life has been really cool, man, because
- 26:43Speaker 1: I've I've touched a lot of people and not really
- 26:45Speaker 1: knowing how much I've impacted them along the way until
- 26:48Speaker 1: they tell me later on. You said this, and this
- 26:50Speaker 1: is what happened in my life, and I heard you.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And I'm just letting you know, man, that you are
- 26:54Speaker 1: really a super talent. And and don't let no one
- 26:57Speaker 1: tell you what you can't do. Of course you do
- 26:59Speaker 1: that any way, but there are moments when you people
- 27:01Speaker 1: can push enough doubt on you that you can like
- 27:05Speaker 1: not trust your natural instincts, but know that your natural
- 27:07Speaker 1: instricts work. Keep the positive people around you. And when
- 27:11Speaker 1: you're down, brother, always you know that the people like
- 27:14Speaker 1: me believe in you. Okay, and send me that send
- 27:16Speaker 1: me and just send me that damn video to today
- 27:19Speaker 1: so I could drop into my news letter. Okay, let's
- 27:22Speaker 1: get it. Get it. Thank you, man. So the video
- 27:25Speaker 1: video come out this week live Netflix. We have the
- 27:28Speaker 1: number one movie. Please go streaming. Please check out everything
- 27:32Speaker 1: we got going on. I'm Jay Young M D K
