- 0:00I'm thinking today of the story in the Bible
- 0:02where Moses meets God, essentially, in the burning
- 0:05bush. After taking his shoes off because it's
- 0:07holy ground, Moses averts his face. He looks
- 0:10away because he's afraid to look at God. And
- 0:12the Lord begins to speak. And he says, I have
- 0:14indeed seen the misery of my people. Boy, that's
- 0:17loaded, isn't it? But we have a lot of misery
- 0:19now. God's people are suffering in many ways
- 0:22all over the earth. And they're not the only
- 0:24ones suffering. Basically, everyone's suffering.
- 0:26There is suffering on the highway of holiness.
- 0:28One kind of suffering or another. Well, God has
- 0:30seen the misery of his people. And he says, so
- 0:33I have come down to rescue them from the hand
- 0:36of the Egyptians and to bring them out of that
- 0:38land into a good and spacious land. He describes
- 0:40how the land that he will send them into is a
- 0:42land flowing with milk and honey. And he names
- 0:45the people that currently live there at the end
- 0:46of chapter 8. He says, and now, the cry of the
- 0:49Israelites in chapter, I'm sorry, the end of
- 0:51verse 8. And now, in verse 9, it says, and now
- 0:53the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and
- 0:55I have seen the way of... the Egyptians are oppressing
- 0:59them. So now go, I'm sending you to Pharaoh to
- 1:01bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.
- 1:03Does this sound like a God plan? Does this sound
- 1:05like a plan that God has worked multiple times
- 1:08in the history of his people? It is indeed. And
- 1:10he sent Jesus to die on the cross, to win us
- 1:13out of an oppressive world. And though we are
- 1:16still here serving him as his ambassadors in
- 1:18Christ, we know he will come again to save us
- 1:21from the oppression that we are facing. He'll
- 1:23turn our fortunes again. We're looking forward
- 1:26to his coming.
