  I'm thinking today of the story in the Bible

  where Moses meets God, essentially, in the burning
• 0:05
  bush. After taking his shoes off because it's
• 0:07
  holy ground, Moses averts his face. He looks
• 0:10
  away because he's afraid to look at God. And
• 0:12
  the Lord begins to speak. And he says, I have
• 0:14
  indeed seen the misery of my people. Boy, that's
• 0:17
  loaded, isn't it? But we have a lot of misery
• 0:19
  now. God's people are suffering in many ways
• 0:22
  all over the earth. And they're not the only
• 0:24
  ones suffering. Basically, everyone's suffering.
• 0:26
  There is suffering on the highway of holiness.
• 0:28
  One kind of suffering or another. Well, God has
• 0:30
  seen the misery of his people. And he says, so
• 0:33
  I have come down to rescue them from the hand
• 0:36
  of the Egyptians and to bring them out of that
• 0:38
  land into a good and spacious land. He describes
• 0:40
  how the land that he will send them into is a
• 0:42
  land flowing with milk and honey. And he names
• 0:45
  the people that currently live there at the end
• 0:46
  of chapter 8. He says, and now, the cry of the
• 0:49
  Israelites in chapter, I'm sorry, the end of
• 0:51
  verse 8. And now, in verse 9, it says, and now
• 0:53
  the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and
• 0:55
  I have seen the way of... the Egyptians are oppressing
• 0:59
  them. So now go, I'm sending you to Pharaoh to
• 1:01
  bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.

  Does this sound like a God plan? Does this sound
• 1:05
  like a plan that God has worked multiple times
• 1:08
  in the history of his people? It is indeed. And
• 1:10
  he sent Jesus to die on the cross, to win us
• 1:13
  out of an oppressive world. And though we are
• 1:16
  still here serving him as his ambassadors in
• 1:18
  Christ, we know he will come again to save us
• 1:21
  from the oppression that we are facing. He'll
• 1:23
  turn our fortunes again. We're looking forward
• 1:26
  to his coming.
