And
1:01
completing
1:01
the
1:01
challenge
1:02
is
1:02
the
1:02
challenge.
1:04
You're
1:04
an
1:04
endurance
1:05
rider.
1:07
That's
1:08
right.
1:08
It
1:08
is
1:08
endurance
1:09
day
1:09
here
1:09
on
1:10
Horses
1:10
in
1:10
the
1:10
Morning.
1:11
We
1:11
have
1:11
Karen
1:11
back
1:12
with
1:12
us.
1:12
Karen,
1:13
what
1:13
do
1:13
you
1:13
have
1:14
planned
1:14
for
1:14
today's
1:15
show?
1:15
Well,
1:16
today
1:16
we
1:17
are
1:17
going
1:17
to
1:17
be
1:18
talking
1:18
about
1:19
packing
1:20
stuff
1:20
in
1:20
your
1:21
saddle
1:21
pack.
1:22
Then
1:22
we
1:22
will
1:23
be
1:23
interviewing
1:24
both
1:25
Lisa
1:25
Snyder,
1:26
who
1:26
is
1:27
the
1:28
AERC
1:28
hall
1:29
of
1:29
Fame
1:29
person
1:30
for
1:31
2024,
1:32
and
1:32
then
1:33
we
1:33
will
1:33
be
1:34
interviewing
1:35
Gunner
1:35
Frank,
1:36
who
1:36
is
1:37
the
1:37
owner
1:37
and
1:37
writer
1:38
of
1:39
the
1:39
hall
1:39
of
1:39
Fame
1:39
horse
1:40
named
1:40
Trinity.
1:42
And
1:42
there's
1:42
only
1:42
one
1:42
each
1:43
year
1:43
at
1:43
the
1:43
convention,
1:45
one
1:45
hall
1:45
of
1:45
Fame
1:46
horse
1:46
and
1:46
one
1:46
hall
1:46
of
1:46
Fame
1:46
person.
1:47
Yes.
1:48
Okay.
1:48
All
1:49
right.
1:49
Well,
1:49
that's
1:49
great.
1:50
And
1:50
you
1:50
just
1:50
did
1:50
get
1:50
back
1:51
from
1:51
the
1:51
AERC
1:52
convention
1:53
in
1:53
Reno,
1:54
right?
1:55
Yes,
1:55
Reno
1:56
Sparks
1:56
at
1:56
the
1:57
Nugget.
1:57
And
1:58
it
1:59
appeared
1:59
to
1:59
have
1:59
a
1:59
really
2:00
great
2:00
turnout.
2:01
The
2:01
vendors,
2:02
everybody
2:03
was
2:03
busy.
2:04
There
2:04
was
2:05
a
2:05
great
2:05
big
2:05
tax
2:06
sale,
2:07
which
2:07
was
2:07
kind
2:08
of
2:08
cool.
2:08
I
2:08
brought
2:09
a
2:09
bunch
2:09
of
2:09
stuff.
2:10
Did
2:11
you
2:11
sell
2:11
a
2:11
bunch
2:11
of
2:11
stuff?
2:12
I
2:12
sold
2:12
a
2:12
bunch
2:13
of
2:13
stuff
2:13
and
2:13
then
2:14
I
2:14
ordered
2:14
a
2:14
bunch
2:15
of
2:15
stuff.
2:16
Did
2:16
you
2:16
come
2:16
home
2:17
with
2:17
less
2:17
money
2:18
or
2:18
more
2:18
money?
2:19
More
2:19
money.
2:20
Oh,
2:20
good.
2:21
Yay.
2:21
Which
2:21
means
2:22
you
2:22
didn't
2:22
hit
2:22
the
2:22
casino
2:23
either.
2:23
No,
2:24
I
2:24
didn't
2:24
have
2:25
time.
2:26
You
2:27
know.
2:27
Well,
2:27
it's
2:28
been.
2:28
It's
2:28
so
2:28
fun
2:29
when
2:29
you
2:30
go
2:30
and
2:31
we
2:31
haven't
2:31
had
2:32
the
2:32
convention
2:32
in
2:32
Reno
2:33
for
2:33
a
2:33
couple
2:33
of
2:34
years
2:34
and
2:35
you
2:35
just
2:35
see
2:36
everybody,
2:36
you
2:37
know,
2:37
from
2:37
all
2:38
across
2:38
the
2:38
different
2:39
regions.
2:40
And
2:41
I.
2:42
My
2:42
voice
2:43
ran
2:43
out
2:43
as
2:44
you
2:44
know
2:44
how
2:44
that
2:45
goes.
2:45
Talking
2:46
a
2:46
lot
2:46
for
2:46
hours
2:46
and
2:47
hours
2:47
and
2:47
hours
2:47
at
2:47
a
2:48
time.
2:48
But
2:48
it's
2:49
a
2:49
lot
2:49
of
2:49
fun
2:49
seeing
2:50
everybody.
2:51
We
2:51
had
2:51
a
2:51
relationship.
2:52
Everybody
2:52
knows
2:52
Everybody
2:53
knows
2:53
Karen.
2:54
So
2:54
when
2:54
she
2:54
goes
2:55
to
2:55
the
2:55
convention,
2:56
everybody
2:57
knows
2:57
Karen.
2:57
It's
2:58
like
2:58
when
2:58
I
2:58
go
2:58
to
2:58
a
2:58
podcasting
2:59
convention,
2:59
they
2:59
all
3:00
descend.
3:00
My
3:00
voice
3:01
is
3:01
gone
3:01
after
3:01
three
3:02
days.
3:02
It's
3:02
that
3:03
way
3:03
for
3:03
Karen
3:03
because
3:04
she
3:04
just
3:04
knows
3:05
everything
3:05
because
3:05
she's
3:05
written
3:06
with
3:06
everybody
3:07
I
3:07
know.
3:08
Yeah.
3:08
You
3:08
can't
3:08
walk
3:09
around
3:09
you
3:10
end
3:10
up
3:10
talking
3:10
with
3:11
everybody.
3:11
I
3:12
mean,
3:12
even
3:12
just
3:13
take
3:13
a
3:14
restroom
3:14
break.
3:15
And
3:16
everybody's
3:17
just,
3:17
you
3:17
know,
3:18
talk,
3:18
talk,
3:18
talk.
3:19
It's.
3:19
It's
3:20
a
3:20
lot
3:20
of
3:20
fun.
3:20
Everybody
3:21
gets
3:21
to
3:21
catch
3:22
up
3:22
and
3:23
see
3:23
each
3:23
other.
3:24
You
3:24
talk
3:24
to
3:24
some
3:24
listeners,
3:25
I'm
3:25
assuming,
3:25
at
3:26
some
3:26
point.
3:27
I
3:27
did.
3:27
Yeah.
3:28
That's
3:28
always
3:29
fun,
3:29
too.
3:30
Yeah,
3:30
that's
3:31
great.
3:32
So.
3:32
So
3:32
was
3:32
there
3:33
any
3:33
big
3:33
highlights
3:34
from
3:34
the
3:34
convention
3:35
that
3:35
stand
3:36
out
3:36
for
3:36
you?
3:37
No,
3:38
just.
3:38
I
3:39
think
3:39
it
3:40
was
3:40
nice.
3:40
Everybody,
3:41
I
3:41
think,
3:41
was
3:42
having
3:42
a
3:42
good
3:42
time.
3:43
We
3:43
were
3:43
all
3:43
happy
3:44
to
3:44
be
3:44
there
3:44
and
3:45
see
3:46
each
3:46
other.
3:48
We.
3:48
They
3:49
did
3:49
pay
3:49
tribute
3:50
at
3:50
the
3:51
national
3:51
banquet
3:53
banquet
3:53
Saturday
3:54
night.
3:55
We
3:55
had
3:55
two
3:55
icons
3:56
of
3:56
the
3:56
sport
3:57
recently
3:57
passed
3:58
away,
3:58
Kathy
3:59
Arnold
3:59
and
4:00
Becky
4:00
Hart.
4:02
And
4:02
did
4:02
you
4:02
know
4:02
Kathy
4:03
and
4:03
Becky?
4:04
Yes,
4:05
yes,
4:06
because
4:06
they've.
4:06
They've
4:07
been
4:07
around
4:08
literally
4:09
for
4:10
ever
4:10
and
4:10
ever.
4:11
And
4:11
so
4:12
it's,
4:12
It's.
4:12
It's
4:12
sad
4:13
to
4:14
see
4:14
them
4:14
go,
4:14
which
4:14
is
4:15
unfortunate.
4:16
So.
4:17
But
4:18
they
4:18
did
4:18
a
4:18
good
4:18
job
4:18
with
4:19
the
4:19
tribute,
4:20
which
4:20
was
4:21
nice.
4:21
And
4:22
then
4:22
they
4:22
did
4:23
the
4:23
awards
4:24
hall
4:24
of
4:24
Fame
4:25
person,
4:25
like
4:25
I
4:26
mentioned
4:26
earlier,
4:26
was
4:26
Lisa
4:27
Snyder.
4:27
Hall
4:28
of
4:28
Fame
4:28
horse
4:29
was
4:29
Trinity,
4:29
owned
4:30
by
4:30
Gunner
4:30
Frank.
4:31
And
4:31
the
4:31
Partners
4:32
award
4:33
was
4:33
given
4:33
to
4:33
Dave
4:34
Rape
4:34
and
4:35
White
4:35
Cloud.
4:35
What's
4:36
the
4:36
Partners
4:36
Award?
4:38
And
4:38
we've
4:38
interviewed
4:39
a
4:39
few
4:40
of
4:40
them
4:41
over
4:41
the
4:41
years.
4:42
It's.
4:43
They
4:43
give
4:44
the
4:44
award
4:44
for
4:45
people
4:45
that
4:45
exemplify
4:46
a
4:47
partnership
4:48
with
4:48
their
4:48
horse.
4:49
One
4:50
of
4:50
the
4:50
things
4:50
I
4:51
recently
4:52
purchased
4:53
was
4:53
a
4:53
Spot
4:54
X
4:54
tracker.
4:55
A
4:56
couple
4:56
weeks
4:56
ago,
4:57
I
4:57
took
4:58
Jovi
4:58
out
4:58
for
4:58
a
4:58
ride.
4:59
And
4:59
now
4:59
I'm
4:59
kind
5:00
of
5:00
wishing
5:00
I
5:00
had
5:01
the
5:01
old
5:01
lazy
5:02
Joby
5:02
back,
5:03
the
5:03
one
5:04
before
5:04
he
5:04
got
5:04
fit
5:05
and
5:05
conditioned
5:06
and
5:06
did
5:06
all
5:06
those
5:07
rides
5:07
last
5:07
year.
5:08
And
5:09
so
5:09
he
5:10
was
5:10
feeling
5:10
a
5:11
little
5:11
bit
5:11
too
5:11
good.
5:12
And
5:13
about
5:13
three
5:13
and
5:13
a
5:13
half
5:14
miles
5:14
out,
5:14
I
5:14
don't
5:15
know
5:15
what
5:15
happened.
5:16
He
5:17
zigged
5:17
and
5:18
I
5:18
zagged
5:19
or.
5:20
Or
5:20
whether
5:20
he
5:20
went
5:21
stage
5:21
ride.
5:22
And
5:22
I
5:22
just
5:23
didn't
5:23
go
5:23
with
5:24
it,
5:24
just
5:24
stayed.
5:25
And.
5:27
Then
5:28
I
5:28
decided,
5:29
you
5:29
know,
5:29
I'm
5:30
looking
5:30
at
5:30
my
5:31
stirrup,
5:32
maybe
5:32
I
5:32
should
5:33
let
5:33
go
5:33
before
5:34
I
5:34
have
5:34
no
5:34
choice.
5:35
So
5:36
I
5:36
let
5:36
go.
5:37
And
5:37
he
5:38
decided
5:38
he
5:38
was
5:39
going
5:39
to
5:39
take
5:39
the
5:39
trail
5:40
back,
5:41
but
5:42
he
5:42
was.
5:42
And
5:43
it
5:43
was
5:43
a
5:43
nice
5:43
warm
5:43
day.
5:44
Decided
5:44
it
5:44
was
5:44
better
5:45
to
5:45
go
5:45
back
5:45
by
5:45
himself
5:46
than
5:46
have
5:46
to
5:46
carry
5:46
you.
5:47
He
5:48
thought,
5:48
yeah,
5:49
is
5:49
fine.
5:49
I
5:49
bet
5:49
I
5:50
can
5:50
get
5:50
back
5:51
faster
5:51
than
5:52
I've
5:52
ever
5:52
gone
5:52
before.
5:53
And
5:53
he
5:54
did.
5:54
I
5:55
followed
5:55
his
5:56
tracks
5:56
all
5:56
the
5:56
way
5:57
back.
5:57
He.
5:58
I.
5:59
There
5:59
were
5:59
no
5:59
trot
6:00
tracks.
6:00
He
6:00
was
6:01
not
6:01
trotting.
6:03
No.
6:03
But,
6:05
yeah,
6:06
I
6:06
was
6:06
fine.
6:07
I
6:07
got
6:07
up
6:07
running
6:08
right
6:08
after
6:08
him.
6:08
I
6:09
was
6:09
like,
6:09
God
6:09
darn
6:10
it,
6:10
I
6:10
shouldn't
6:10
have
6:10
let
6:10
go
6:11
of
6:11
the
6:11
reins.
6:11
But
6:11
I
6:11
didn't
6:12
get.
6:12
Want
6:12
to
6:13
get
6:13
a
6:13
rope
6:13
burn,
6:13
you
6:14
know.
6:14
So
6:15
fortunately
6:16
he
6:16
was
6:16
nice
6:17
enough.
6:17
Along
6:17
the
6:17
way
6:18
he
6:18
left
6:18
me
6:18
a
6:19
water
6:19
bottle
6:20
and
6:20
then
6:20
another
6:21
mile
6:21
later
6:21
a
6:21
nut
6:22
bar.
6:22
So,
6:23
you
6:23
know,
6:23
we
6:24
made.
6:24
To
6:24
make
6:24
sure
6:24
you
6:24
were
6:24
fed
6:25
and
6:25
watered
6:25
on
6:25
the
6:25
way.
6:26
That's
6:26
right,
6:27
he
6:27
did.
6:28
So
6:28
then
6:28
I
6:29
called
6:29
my
6:30
husband
6:30
who
6:30
went
6:30
out
6:31
on
6:31
the
6:31
quad
6:32
and
6:32
there
6:32
was
6:33
Jovi
6:33
at
6:33
the
6:33
trailhead
6:35
waiting,
6:35
waiting,
6:36
waiting
6:37
for
6:37
me
6:37
going,
6:38
where's
6:38
my
6:39
mom?
6:39
Why
6:40
isn't
6:40
she
6:40
here?
6:41
And
6:41
so
6:41
he
6:42
called
6:42
Jovi
6:42
and
6:42
Jovi
6:43
came
6:43
right
6:43
over
6:44
to
6:44
him.
6:45
And
6:45
then
6:45
he
6:46
pony
6:46
me
6:46
out
6:47
and
6:47
pony
6:47
Jovi
6:48
out.
6:48
And
6:49
my.
6:50
One
6:50
of
6:50
the
6:50
neighbors
6:51
had
6:51
seen
6:51
the
6:52
horse
6:52
go
6:53
running
6:53
by
6:54
and
6:54
went
6:54
out
6:55
on
6:55
their
6:55
side
6:55
by
6:55
side
6:56
and
6:56
picked
6:56
me
6:56
up
6:56
so
6:56
I
6:57
didn't
6:57
have
6:57
to
6:57
run
6:57
the
6:58
whole
6:58
three
6:58
and
6:58
a
6:58
half
6:59
miles
6:59
back.
6:59
But
7:00
I
7:01
got,
7:01
I
7:01
got
7:01
right
7:02
back
7:02
on
7:02
him,
7:03
turned
7:03
around
7:03
and
7:03
went
7:04
out
7:04
and
7:04
he
7:05
was
7:05
fine.
7:05
Nothing
7:06
happened
7:07
as
7:07
far
7:07
as.
7:07
Seems
7:08
like
7:08
he
7:08
just
7:08
ducked
7:08
out.
7:09
Yeah,
7:10
he
7:10
just
7:10
ducked
7:11
out.
7:11
I
7:11
don't
7:11
know.
7:12
He's
7:12
feeling
7:12
extra
7:13
good,
7:13
a
7:13
little
7:14
extra
7:14
frisky.
7:15
So
7:16
I
7:16
decided
7:16
he's
7:17
probably
7:17
wondering
7:17
why
7:17
you
7:17
fell
7:18
off.
7:18
What's
7:18
wrong
7:18
with
7:18
you.
7:19
He
7:19
was.
7:20
And
7:21
see,
7:21
that's
7:22
the
7:22
thing.
7:22
I
7:22
figured
7:23
it
7:23
out.
7:23
I
7:23
had
7:24
not
7:24
come
7:24
off
7:24
a
7:24
horse
7:25
for
7:25
23
7:26
years.
7:26
Really?
7:28
Time
7:28
I
7:28
had
7:28
come
7:28
off
7:29
the
7:29
riding.
7:29
You
7:30
do?
7:31
Yes.
7:31
All
7:31
the
7:31
writing
7:32
and
7:32
all
7:32
the
7:32
different
7:33
horses.
7:34
Wow,
7:35
that's
7:35
amazing
7:35
when
7:35
you
7:36
think
7:36
about
7:36
it.
7:37
It's
7:37
been
7:37
23
7:38
years
7:38
since
7:39
I
7:39
came
7:39
off
7:39
a
7:39
horse
7:40
like
7:40
that,
7:40
so.
7:41
So
7:41
is
7:41
the
7:41
Spot
7:41
X,
7:42
is
7:42
that
7:42
like
7:42
a
7:42
Garmin
7:42
inreach?
7:44
Yes,
7:44
it
7:44
is.
7:45
And
7:45
it's
7:45
got
7:45
the
7:45
little
7:46
keyboard
7:46
on
7:46
it.
7:46
And
7:47
the
7:47
reason
7:47
I
7:47
got
7:48
it
7:48
is.
7:48
Because
7:49
it's
7:49
a
7:49
satellite
7:50
thing.
7:50
Yes,
7:51
off
7:51
of
7:51
the
7:52
satellite
7:52
thing.
7:52
So
7:52
it's
7:53
independent
7:53
of
7:53
the
7:53
cell
7:54
service.
7:54
Because
7:55
where
7:55
you
7:55
ride,
7:55
there
7:55
ain't
7:56
none.
7:57
Exactly.
7:57
There's
7:58
a
7:58
lot
7:58
of
7:58
places
7:59
where
7:59
there
7:59
isn't
7:59
any,
8:00
especially
8:00
on
8:01
rides.
8:01
And
8:01
when
8:02
I
8:02
drive
8:02
and
8:03
travel
8:04
and
8:04
my
8:04
husband
8:05
can
8:05
use
8:05
it
8:05
on
8:05
his
8:05
bike
8:06
rides
8:06
where
8:06
he
8:07
goes
8:07
regularly,
8:08
there
8:08
is
8:08
no
8:09
cell
8:09
service.
8:10
And
8:10
it's
8:11
kind
8:11
of
8:11
neat
8:11
because
8:12
I
8:12
can
8:12
send
8:13
and
8:13
receive
8:14
text
8:14
mails,
8:15
emails,
8:16
or
8:16
use
8:17
the
8:17
SOS
8:18
feature
8:19
if
8:19
I
8:19
need
8:19
it.
8:20
Hopefully
8:20
I
8:21
don't.
8:21
I
8:22
bet
8:22
you
8:22
he's
8:22
falling
8:22
off
8:23
his
8:23
bike
8:23
more
8:23
than
8:23
you
8:23
falling
8:24
off
8:24
a
8:24
horse.
8:25
Possibly,
8:26
yes.
8:27
I
8:27
don't
8:27
know.
8:28
Yeah,
8:28
I'm
8:28
not.
8:29
Not
8:29
in
8:29
a
8:29
big
8:29
habit
8:30
of
8:30
doing
8:30
that.
8:32
Well,
8:32
I'm
8:32
glad
8:32
you're
8:33
okay.
8:34
I'm
8:34
getting
8:35
older
8:35
and
8:37
you
8:37
should
8:37
have.
8:37
Had
8:37
one
8:38
of
8:38
those
8:38
10
8:38
years
8:38
ago,
8:39
to
8:39
be
8:39
honest.
8:40
I
8:40
know
8:40
it
8:41
and
8:41
need
8:42
to
8:42
get.
8:42
Them
8:42
as
8:42
a
8:42
sponsor
8:42
now,
8:43
because
8:43
I
8:43
never
8:43
heard
8:43
of
8:44
Spot
8:44
X,
8:44
I've
8:44
only
8:44
ever
8:45
heard
8:45
of
8:45
the
8:45
Garmin
8:45
innovation,
8:46
okay.
8:47
Because
8:47
the
8:47
Spot
8:48
is
8:48
what
8:48
they
8:48
use
8:48
on
8:49
Tevis
8:49
as
8:50
the
8:50
trackers,
8:50
the
8:51
Spot
8:51
brand.
8:52
So
8:53
we'll
8:53
see.
8:53
Hopefully.
8:54
I'm
8:54
going
8:54
to
8:54
a
8:54
ride
8:55
this
8:55
Saturday,
8:56
weather
8:56
permitting,
8:57
because
8:57
we
8:58
do
8:58
have
8:58
some
8:58
big
8:59
storms
8:59
coming
9:00
with
9:00
snow
9:00
and
9:00
rain,
9:01
and
9:02
so
9:02
I'm
9:03
going
9:03
to
9:03
be
9:03
able
9:03
to
9:04
test
9:04
it
9:04
out
9:04
on
9:05
an
9:05
actual
9:05
ride.
9:06
There
9:06
we
9:06
go.
9:07
Which
9:07
is
9:07
cool.
9:07
I
9:07
can
9:08
send
9:08
updates
9:09
to
9:09
people
9:10
in
9:10
my
9:10
contact
9:11
list
9:11
so
9:11
they
9:11
can
9:12
click
9:12
on
9:12
the
9:12
link
9:12
and
9:12
then
9:13
follow
9:13
me
9:13
on
9:13
the
9:13
map.
9:14
So
9:15
that
9:15
that
9:15
ties
9:15
us
9:15
right
9:15
into
9:16
your
9:16
endurance
9:16
tip
9:17
of
9:17
the
9:17
day,
9:17
which
9:17
is
9:17
what
9:17
you
9:18
carry
9:18
along
9:18
on
9:19
the
9:19
horse
9:19
and
9:19
the
9:19
saddle
9:20
pack
9:20
and
9:20
on
9:20
the
9:20
horse.
9:21
And
9:21
I
9:21
know
9:22
now
9:22
we're
9:22
going
9:22
to
9:22
add
9:23
to
9:23
that
9:23
list
9:23
the
9:23
SpotX
9:24
tracker.
9:24
So
9:26
we
9:26
are.
9:27
So
9:28
what?
9:28
Exactly.
9:29
So
9:29
what
9:29
we're
9:30
talking
9:30
about
9:30
today
9:30
is
9:30
the
9:31
things
9:31
that
9:31
when
9:31
you're
9:31
on
9:31
a
9:32
ride
9:32
that
9:32
you
9:32
keep
9:32
with
9:33
you.
9:33
And
9:33
I
9:33
know
9:33
this
9:33
is
9:34
something
9:34
that,
9:34
you
9:34
know,
9:35
new
9:35
riders
9:35
always
9:36
have
9:36
to
9:36
probably
9:36
carry
9:37
too,
9:38
or
9:38
not
9:38
enough.
9:39
But
9:39
you
9:40
have
9:40
done
9:40
this
9:40
for
9:40
a
9:41
million
9:41
miles,
9:41
so
9:41
what
9:41
do
9:42
you
9:42
carry?
9:43
Right?
9:43
So
9:44
the
9:44
essentials
9:45
for
9:45
the
9:45
horse
9:45
would
9:46
be
9:46
stuff
9:46
like
9:46
electrolytes,
9:48
a
9:48
hoof
9:48
pick,
9:49
a
9:49
spare
9:49
hoof
9:50
boot,
9:51
a
9:51
first
9:51
aid
9:51
kit,
9:52
which
9:52
also
9:53
I'll
9:53
mention
9:53
when
9:53
I
9:54
get
9:54
to
9:54
the
9:54
rider
9:55
section
9:56
because
9:56
it
9:57
can
9:57
double
9:57
for
9:57
both
9:58
a
9:58
sponge
9:59
or
9:59
a
9:59
scoop
9:59
when
10:00
cooling
10:01
this
10:01
weekend
10:02
because
10:02
it's
10:02
going
10:02
to
10:03
probably
10:03
be
10:04
snowing
10:04
and
10:04
raining.
10:05
I
10:05
would
10:06
put
10:06
a
10:06
rump
10:06
rug,
10:07
also
10:08
my
10:09
horse
10:09
at
10:09
the
10:10
start.
10:11
Navigation
10:12
and
10:12
communications.
10:13
Most
10:13
of
10:14
us
10:14
carry
10:14
our
10:14
cell
10:15
phones
10:15
now,
10:16
so
10:16
it's
10:17
good
10:17
idea
10:17
to
10:17
have
10:17
a
10:17
waterproof
10:18
case,
10:19
an
10:19
extra
10:20
little
10:20
battery
10:21
in
10:22
case
10:22
you're
10:22
out
10:22
there
10:23
on
10:23
a
10:23
long,
10:23
long
10:24
day
10:25
and
10:25
your
10:25
battery
10:26
goes
10:26
down
10:26
on
10:27
your
10:27
cell
10:27
phone,
10:27
which
10:28
some
10:28
of
10:28
them
10:28
do.
10:29
Having
10:30
that
10:30
little
10:30
extra
10:31
battery
10:32
that
10:33
you
10:33
can
10:33
plug
10:33
in
10:33
is
10:34
great.
10:34
And
10:34
then
10:35
you
10:35
can
10:35
also
10:35
use
10:35
that
10:36
to
10:36
recharge
10:36
your
10:37
gps
10:38
or
10:39
like
10:40
I'm
10:40
gonna
10:40
have
10:42
a
10:43
whistle
10:43
is
10:43
a
10:44
handy
10:44
thing
10:44
to
10:44
have
10:45
so
10:45
you
10:45
can
10:45
call
10:45
for
10:46
help
10:46
or
10:46
in
10:47
some
10:47
cases,
10:47
if
10:47
you
10:48
see
10:48
a
10:48
rider
10:48
ahead
10:49
of
10:49
you
10:49
and
10:49
they
10:50
take
10:50
a
10:50
wrong
10:50
turn,
10:51
you
10:51
can
10:52
get
10:52
their
10:52
attention.
10:54
So
10:54
those
10:54
things
10:55
are
10:55
handy.
10:56
Now
10:56
onto
10:57
the
10:57
things
10:57
for
10:57
the
10:58
rider.
10:58
You
10:58
want
10:58
to
10:59
have
10:59
some
10:59
toilet
11:00
paper,
11:01
water,
11:02
electrolyte
11:03
drinks
11:03
and
11:04
snacks
11:04
for
11:04
you,
11:05
sunscreen
11:06
and
11:06
make
11:07
sure
11:07
they're
11:07
in
11:07
a.
11:07
Place
11:08
when
11:08
your
11:08
horse
11:08
is
11:08
jogging
11:09
without
11:09
you
11:09
that
11:09
they
11:10
fall
11:10
out.
11:10
So
11:11
something
11:11
to
11:11
eat
11:12
on
11:12
the
11:12
way?
11:12
Yes,
11:13
yes.
11:16
Like,
11:16
gee,
11:17
thanks,
11:17
Jovi.
11:18
Yeah,
11:18
that
11:19
was,
11:19
yeah,
11:20
the
11:20
thoughtful
11:21
of
11:21
him.
11:24
You
11:24
want
11:24
to
11:24
have
11:25
some
11:25
Sunscreen,
11:27
lip
11:27
balm,
11:28
insect
11:29
repellent.
11:30
Depending
11:30
on
11:31
where
11:31
you're
11:31
riding,
11:31
I
11:32
probably
11:32
won't
11:32
need
11:32
it
11:33
this
11:33
weekend.
11:34
Where
11:35
it's
11:35
going
11:36
to
11:36
be
11:36
snowing?
11:36
No,
11:37
you'll
11:37
probably
11:37
be
11:38
okay.
11:39
But
11:39
a
11:39
lot
11:39
of
11:40
the
11:40
year
11:40
you
11:40
do.
11:41
It's
11:41
handy
11:41
to
11:42
have
11:42
some
11:43
lightweight
11:43
rain
11:44
gear
11:44
or
11:44
a
11:45
windbreaker,
11:46
a
11:46
multi
11:47
tool
11:47
or
11:47
a
11:47
knife,
11:48
and
11:49
again,
11:49
a
11:49
small
11:50
first
11:50
aid
11:50
kit
11:51
with
11:51
stuff
11:51
like
11:51
antiseptic
11:52
band
11:52
aids,
11:53
gauze
11:54
or
11:54
vet
11:54
wrap
11:55
and
11:55
a
11:55
bandana
11:56
and
11:57
some
11:57
extra
11:58
string
11:58
or
11:59
clips
11:59
like
11:59
carabiner
12:00
clips,
12:01
stuff
12:01
you
12:02
can
12:02
attach
12:02
things
12:03
to
12:04
or
12:05
do
12:05
some
12:05
repairs
12:06
if
12:06
something
12:06
happens
12:07
to
12:07
break.
12:08
Now,
12:09
I
12:09
want
12:09
to
12:09
talk
12:09
to
12:09
you
12:10
about
12:10
packing,
12:10
but
12:11
what
12:11
kind
12:11
of
12:11
packs
12:12
do
12:12
you
12:12
use?
12:13
I've
12:14
been
12:14
using
12:15
the
12:16
trugrit
12:18
packs
12:19
for
12:19
a
12:20
few
12:20
years.
12:20
And
12:20
are
12:20
they
12:21
front
12:21
or
12:21
back?
12:22
They
12:23
have
12:23
both.
12:23
I
12:24
like
12:24
mine
12:24
on
12:24
the
12:24
front
12:25
so
12:25
it's
12:25
easy
12:26
to
12:26
access
12:26
all
12:26
the
12:27
stuff
12:27
that's
12:27
in
12:27
them.
12:28
Gotcha.
12:28
Okay.
12:28
And
12:29
then
12:29
I
12:29
carry
12:29
my
12:29
water
12:30
bottles
12:30
on
12:30
the
12:30
back.
12:31
Do
12:31
you
12:31
have
12:31
a
12:31
certain
12:32
way
12:32
you
12:32
pack
12:32
everything
12:33
specifically?
12:34
Yes,
12:34
I
12:34
do.
12:35
So
12:35
my
12:35
packing
12:36
tips
12:36
are
12:37
balance
12:37
the
12:38
weight
12:38
evenly
12:39
on
12:39
each
12:39
side
12:39
of
12:39
your
12:39
saddle
12:40
pack.
12:40
That
12:40
way
12:41
if
12:41
your
12:41
horse
12:41
decides
12:42
to
12:42
go
12:42
back
12:42
to
12:42
the
12:43
trailhead
12:43
without
12:43
you,
12:44
it
12:45
doesn't
12:45
cause
12:46
the
12:46
saddle
12:46
to
12:46
list
12:47
over
12:47
to
12:47
one
12:47
side.
12:48
Oh,
12:48
that's
12:48
true.
12:48
I
12:48
didn't
12:49
think
12:49
about
12:49
that.
12:49
Yeah.
12:50
So
12:50
you
12:51
want
12:51
it
12:51
balanced.
12:52
You
12:52
want
12:53
to
12:53
pack
12:53
items
12:54
tightly
12:54
to
12:54
prevent
12:55
things
12:55
from
12:55
bouncing.
12:57
Keep
12:58
things
12:58
that
12:58
you
12:58
frequently
12:59
use
13:00
and
13:00
easy
13:00
to
13:00
reach
13:01
spots.
13:02
You
13:03
can
13:03
use
13:03
waterproof
13:04
bags
13:05
or
13:05
baggies
13:06
for
13:06
sensitive
13:07
items
13:08
like
13:08
your,
13:08
you
13:09
know,
13:09
your
13:09
toilet
13:09
paper
13:10
or
13:10
your
13:10
first
13:10
aid
13:11
kit.
13:12
So
13:12
if
13:12
you
13:12
are
13:13
riding
13:13
in
13:13
the
13:14
rain
13:14
and
13:14
snow
13:14
that
13:15
those
13:15
things
13:16
stay
13:16
protected.
13:17
Test
13:17
your
13:17
saddle
13:18
pack
13:18
on
13:18
practice
13:19
rides
13:20
and
13:20
make
13:21
sure
13:21
you
13:21
don't
13:21
overload
13:22
it.
13:23
Do
13:23
you
13:24
use
13:24
water
13:24
bottles
13:25
or
13:25
do
13:25
you
13:25
use
13:25
a
13:26
bladder?
13:26
What
13:26
do
13:26
you
13:26
use?
13:27
Yes,
13:28
I
13:28
use
13:28
water
13:28
bottles.
13:29
And
13:29
on
13:30
my
13:30
saddle,
13:31
on
13:31
the
13:31
back,
13:32
I
13:32
actually
13:33
have
13:33
the
13:33
water
13:34
bottle
13:34
holders
13:35
that.
13:35
The
13:36
same
13:36
kind
13:36
they
13:36
use
13:37
on
13:37
a
13:37
bicycle
13:38
that
13:38
are
13:38
mounted.
13:39
Okay.
13:40
And
13:40
then.
13:40
And
13:40
then
13:40
that
13:41
way
13:41
they
13:41
don't
13:41
bounce.
13:42
The
13:42
only
13:42
thing
13:42
is
13:43
the
13:43
horse,
13:44
it
13:44
can
13:45
shake
13:45
them
13:46
out
13:46
every
13:46
so
13:46
often
13:47
or.
13:48
Yeah,
13:48
because
13:48
those
13:48
things
13:49
aren't
13:49
super
13:49
tight.
13:50
I
13:50
mean,
13:50
that
13:50
even
13:50
happens
13:50
when
13:50
you're
13:51
riding
13:51
your
13:51
bike
13:51
and
13:51
hit
13:51
a
13:51
bump,
13:52
so.
13:53
Right,
13:53
right.
13:54
But
13:54
it's
13:54
very
13:55
handy
13:55
because
13:55
they
13:55
don't
13:56
bounce.
13:56
You
13:56
know,
13:57
I
13:57
like
13:57
to
13:57
keep
13:57
things
13:58
from
13:58
bouncing
13:58
because
13:59
it
13:59
can
13:59
bother
13:59
you
14:00
and
14:00
can
14:00
bother
14:00
your
14:01
horse.
14:01
How
14:01
do
14:02
you
14:02
have
14:02
it
14:02
mounted?
14:02
Do
14:02
you
14:02
have
14:02
it
14:03
mounted
14:03
to
14:03
the
14:03
saddle
14:03
somehow?
14:04
Do
14:04
you
14:04
have
14:04
them
14:04
screwed
14:04
in?
14:05
What
14:05
do
14:05
you
14:05
do?
14:06
Yes,
14:07
because
14:07
my
14:08
saddle's
14:08
carbon
14:09
Fiber.
14:09
Okay,
14:10
so
14:10
you
14:10
have
14:11
a
14:11
mountain
14:11
mounted.
14:12
Yeah,
14:13
exactly.
14:14
Yes.
14:14
And
14:14
then
14:14
on
14:15
the
14:15
front,
14:16
it's
14:16
attached
14:17
with
14:17
straps.
14:17
And
14:17
then
14:18
I
14:18
buy
14:18
the
14:18
rubber
14:19
bungee
14:19
by.
14:21
You
14:21
can
14:21
buy
14:21
it
14:22
by
14:22
the
14:22
yard
14:22
or
14:23
like
14:23
in
14:23
a
14:23
pack
14:23
of
14:24
three
14:24
yards
14:24
or
14:24
six
14:25
yards
14:26
almost
14:27
anywhere.
14:28
Walmart,
14:28
Amazon.
14:30
And
14:30
it.
14:31
It's
14:31
like
14:31
the
14:32
size
14:32
of
14:32
a
14:32
shoelace,
14:33
but
14:33
it's
14:33
elastic.
14:34
Okay.
14:35
Like
14:35
bungee.
14:36
And
14:36
I
14:36
use
14:37
that
14:37
on.
14:38
I
14:38
put
14:38
that
14:38
on
14:38
the
14:38
saddle
14:39
and
14:40
then
14:40
put
14:40
it
14:40
around
14:41
the
14:41
pack,
14:42
and
14:42
that
14:42
keeps
14:42
it
14:42
from
14:43
bouncing
14:43
at
14:43
all,
14:44
which
14:44
is
14:44
really
14:45
nice.
14:45
So
14:46
it's
14:46
won't
14:46
bounce
14:47
even
14:47
if
14:47
you
14:48
take
14:48
stuff
14:48
out.
14:49
Like,
14:49
if
14:49
you
14:50
fill
14:50
it
14:50
up
14:51
with,
14:51
you
14:52
know,
14:52
some
14:52
snacks
14:53
or
14:53
other
14:54
things
14:54
that
14:54
you
14:54
use
14:55
up
14:55
during
14:55
the
14:55
ride,
14:56
the
14:56
bungee
14:57
still
14:57
keeps
14:57
the
14:58
pack
14:58
snug,
14:59
even
14:59
with
14:59
less
15:00
stuff
15:00
in
15:00
it,
15:00
so
15:01
it's
15:01
not
15:01
bouncing
15:02
and
15:02
bothering
15:02
you
15:03
or
15:03
the
15:03
horse.
15:04
Okay,
15:04
that's
15:05
terrific.
15:05
All
15:05
right,
15:06
very
15:06
good.
15:06
And
15:07
you
15:07
know
15:08
something
15:08
that,
15:08
that
15:09
you
15:09
have
15:09
below
15:10
those
15:10
packs
15:10
that
15:11
helps
15:11
keep
15:11
you
15:11
in
15:11
the
15:11
saddle
15:12
is
15:12
the
15:12
stirrups.
15:13
And
15:14
we're
15:14
going
15:14
to
15:14
be
15:14
talking
15:14
to
15:14
Kristen
15:15
at
15:15
the
15:15
Distance
15:15
Depot
15:16
about
15:16
stirrups
15:17
today,
15:18
also
15:18
a
15:18
little
15:18
bit
15:19
about
15:19
all
15:19
the
15:19
tariffs
15:20
going
15:20
on
15:20
and
15:20
what's
15:20
happening
15:21
with
15:21
the
15:21
prices
15:22
of
15:22
all
15:22
the
15:22
horse
15:23
stuff
15:23
that
15:23
we're
15:24
going
15:24
to
15:24
be
15:24
talking
15:24
about
15:25
throughout
15:26
the
15:26
year.
15:27
Kristen,
15:27
what
15:28
is
15:28
the
15:28
most
15:28
popular
15:29
stirrup
15:29
on
15:29
the
15:29
trail
15:30
today?
15:31
Well,
15:31
we
15:32
have
15:32
quite
15:32
a
15:33
few
15:33
popular
15:33
stirrups.
15:34
I
15:34
would
15:35
say
15:36
some
15:36
of
15:36
the
15:37
nicest
15:37
stirrups
15:38
that
15:38
we
15:38
offer
15:39
are
15:39
the
15:39
cloud
15:39
stirrups.
15:40
They're
15:40
made
15:41
in
15:41
Canada
15:41
with
15:42
top
15:42
grain
15:43
leather.
15:43
They
15:44
have
15:44
the
15:44
nice
15:45
wide
15:45
footbed
15:46
with
15:46
a
15:47
super
15:47
cushy
15:48
cushion
15:49
where
15:49
your
15:49
foot
15:50
goes.
15:50
It's
15:50
one
15:51
of
15:51
the
15:51
widest
15:52
footbeds
15:52
on
15:52
the
15:53
market
15:54
because
15:54
of
15:55
the
15:55
size
15:55
of
15:55
this
15:56
stirrup
15:56
and
15:56
the
15:57
materials
15:57
used.
15:58
The
15:58
high
15:58
grade
15:59
leather,
15:59
it
15:59
also
16:00
has
16:00
a
16:00
high
16:00
grade
16:01
aluminum,
16:01
which
16:02
contains
16:02
titanium.
16:03
So
16:04
it
16:04
gives
16:04
the
16:04
stirrups
16:05
more
16:05
strength
16:06
than
16:06
just
16:07
your
16:07
regular
16:07
aluminum
16:08
stirrup.
16:09
But
16:09
because
16:09
of
16:09
that,
16:10
like
16:10
I
16:10
say,
16:10
these
16:11
stirrups
16:11
are
16:11
heavy.
16:12
The
16:12
stirrups
16:13
without
16:13
a
16:14
cage
16:14
weigh
16:15
about
16:15
three
16:15
and
16:16
a
16:16
half
16:16
pounds.
16:17
And
16:17
then
16:17
when
16:18
you
16:18
get
16:18
that
16:18
cage
16:19
on
16:19
there,
16:19
it
16:20
adds
16:20
about
16:20
another
16:21
pound,
16:21
so
16:21
they're
16:21
about
16:22
four
16:22
and
16:22
a
16:22
half
16:22
pounds.
16:23
I
16:23
gotta
16:23
tell
16:23
you,
16:23
the
16:24
ones
16:24
with
16:24
the
16:24
cage
16:24
look
16:25
like
16:25
something
16:25
out
16:25
of
16:25
the
16:26
medieval
16:26
times
16:26
that
16:26
the
16:27
knights
16:27
would
16:27
wear.
16:27
Right.
16:28
Or
16:28
something.
16:28
I
16:28
know
16:29
they
16:30
do
16:30
a
16:30
little.
16:30
A
16:30
little
16:31
like
16:31
Mad
16:31
Max.
16:31
Yeah,
16:32
exactly.
16:33
But
16:34
these,
16:35
you
16:35
know,
16:35
the
16:35
fei
16:35
riders
16:36
have
16:36
to
16:36
have
16:37
a
16:37
cage.
16:37
Even
16:38
if
16:38
they
16:38
have
16:38
a
16:38
heel,
16:39
they're
16:39
required
16:39
to
16:40
ride
16:40
with
16:40
a
16:40
cage.
16:41
And
16:41
if
16:42
you're
16:42
a
16:42
lightweight
16:42
rider,
16:43
these
16:43
cloud
16:43
stirrups
16:44
are
16:44
Perfect
16:44
because
16:45
the
16:46
extra
16:46
weight,
16:47
you
16:47
know,
16:47
can
16:47
sometimes
16:48
help
16:48
these
16:48
lightweight
16:49
riders
16:49
make
16:50
their
16:50
weight
16:50
category.
16:51
So
16:52
that
16:52
being
16:52
said,
16:52
there's
16:53
that
16:53
stirrup.
16:54
And
16:54
then
16:54
unfortunately,
16:55
the
16:55
easy
16:55
care
16:56
stirrups
16:56
that
16:56
we
16:56
all
16:56
knew
16:57
and
16:57
loved
16:57
for
16:58
many,
16:58
many
16:58
years
16:58
have
16:59
been
16:59
discontinued.
17:00
So
17:00
we
17:00
do
17:01
have
17:01
some
17:01
options
17:02
from
17:03
a
17:03
company
17:04
called
17:04
Shenandoah.
17:05
And
17:05
we
17:05
have
17:06
the
17:06
aluminum
17:06
trail
17:06
stirrup
17:07
and
17:07
also
17:07
a
17:08
plastic
17:08
stirrup,
17:09
which
17:09
on
17:10
these
17:10
stirrups
17:11
we
17:11
can
17:12
change
17:12
out
17:12
the
17:12
top
17:13
bars.
17:13
Now,
17:13
those
17:13
cloud
17:14
stirrups
17:14
do
17:15
come
17:15
in
17:15
different
17:15
top
17:16
top
17:16
bar
17:16
sizes
17:17
as
17:17
well,
17:17
which
17:18
means
17:18
whatever
17:18
size
17:19
stirrup
17:19
leather,
17:19
if
17:20
you
17:20
ride
17:20
in
17:20
an
17:20
English
17:20
saddle
17:21
and
17:21
you
17:21
need
17:21
like
17:22
one
17:22
and
17:22
a
17:22
half
17:22
inch
17:23
top
17:24
bar,
17:24
they're
17:24
offered
17:25
in
17:25
that
17:25
width.
17:26
So
17:26
you
17:27
can
17:27
also
17:27
order
17:27
it.
17:27
You
17:27
know,
17:28
if
17:28
you're
17:28
stirrup,
17:28
biothane
17:29
stirrup
17:30
leather
17:31
essentially
17:31
is
17:32
two,
17:32
two
17:32
and
17:33
a
17:33
half
17:33
inches
17:33
or
17:33
you
17:34
have
17:34
a
17:34
western
17:34
fender,
17:35
you're
17:35
going
17:35
to
17:35
need
17:35
a
17:36
3
17:36
inch
17:36
top
17:36
bar
17:37
typically.
17:37
So
17:38
we
17:38
can
17:38
change
17:38
out
17:38
those
17:39
top
17:39
bars
17:39
on
17:40
the
17:40
all
17:40
of
17:41
the
17:41
brands
17:41
except
17:42
for
17:42
that
17:42
cloud
17:42
stirrup,
17:43
you
17:43
have
17:44
to
17:44
order
17:44
that
17:44
particular
17:45
stirrup
17:46
in
17:46
the
17:46
size
17:47
you
17:47
need.
17:47
The
17:48
others,
17:48
we
17:48
change
17:48
out
17:49
the
17:49
top
17:49
bar
17:49
and
17:49
you
17:50
can
17:50
change
17:50
it
17:50
out
17:50
down
17:51
the
17:51
line.
17:51
So
17:51
if
17:51
you
17:51
change
17:52
stirrups,
17:52
saddles,
17:53
pardon
17:53
me,
17:53
you
17:54
can
17:54
change
17:54
out
17:54
your
17:54
top
17:55
bar
17:55
to
17:55
match
17:55
whatever
17:56
stirrup
17:56
leather
17:56
you
17:57
need
17:57
at
17:57
that
17:57
point.
17:58
And
17:58
then
17:58
the
17:58
Shenandoah
17:59
has
17:59
cages
17:59
available
18:00
as
18:00
well.
18:00
Yes.
18:01
Yep.
18:01
So
18:02
we
18:02
can
18:02
put
18:02
on
18:02
a
18:02
cage
18:03
for
18:03
you.
18:04
You
18:04
can
18:04
order
18:04
the
18:04
cages
18:05
yourself
18:05
and
18:06
put
18:06
them
18:06
on.
18:06
If
18:06
you're
18:07
handy
18:07
or
18:07
know
18:07
someone
18:08
handy
18:08
that
18:08
has
18:08
a
18:09
rivet
18:09
gun,
18:09
they're
18:10
simply
18:10
put
18:10
on
18:10
with
18:11
rivets
18:11
and
18:12
held
18:12
on
18:12
there
18:12
permanently.
18:13
So
18:14
offer
18:14
some
18:15
protection.
18:15
And
18:15
you
18:16
can
18:16
add
18:16
the
18:16
cages
18:17
in
18:17
your
18:17
fun
18:18
colors.
18:18
We
18:19
have
18:19
reflect
18:19
cages
18:20
too.
18:21
So
18:21
if
18:21
you
18:21
ride
18:22
at
18:22
night
18:22
or
18:23
worried
18:23
about
18:23
being
18:24
in
18:24
the
18:24
dark
18:24
and
18:25
need
18:25
some
18:25
reflection,
18:26
we
18:26
offer
18:26
the
18:26
reflect
18:27
material
18:27
on
18:28
the
18:28
cage,
18:28
too.
18:29
And
18:29
of
18:29
course,
18:30
we
18:30
have
18:30
stirrup
18:31
leathers
18:31
and
18:32
traditional
18:33
English
18:33
stirrups.
18:34
We
18:35
do
18:35
offer
18:36
the
18:36
shock
18:37
absorbing
18:37
top
18:38
bar.
18:38
So
18:39
on
18:39
the
18:39
stirrup,
18:40
the
18:40
Shenandoah
18:41
and
18:41
the
18:41
tough
18:42
one,
18:42
plastic
18:42
stirrups,
18:43
you
18:44
can
18:44
opt
18:45
to
18:45
have
18:45
us
18:45
put
18:46
on
18:46
that
18:46
shock
18:46
absorbing
18:47
top
18:47
bar
18:47
that
18:47
used
18:48
to
18:48
come
18:48
on
18:48
the
18:48
easy
18:49
care
18:49
cage.
18:49
So
18:49
that's
18:50
nice
18:50
for
18:50
your
18:50
knees
18:51
and
18:51
your
18:51
back
18:52
over
18:52
many
18:53
miles.
18:54
So
18:54
as
18:55
price
18:55
points
18:56
go,
18:56
the
18:56
Shenandoah
18:56
are
18:57
more
18:57
affordable.
18:58
Oh,
18:58
yes.
18:59
Much
18:59
more
18:59
affordable.
19:00
Yeah.
19:00
The
19:00
cloud
19:01
stirrups
19:01
run
19:02
in
19:02
the
19:02
$300
19:03
range.
19:04
200,
19:05
$340
19:06
essentially
19:07
without
19:07
cages
19:08
and
19:08
340
19:09
with
19:10
the
19:10
cages.
19:11
When
19:11
you
19:12
buy
19:12
the
19:12
Shenandoahs,
19:13
they
19:13
run
19:13
anywhere
19:14
from,
19:14
you
19:14
know,
19:15
$77
19:16
to
19:17
$45.
19:18
So,
19:18
yeah.
19:18
Much
19:18
more
19:19
affordable
19:19
in
19:19
the
19:19
plastic
19:20
and
19:20
aluminum.
19:21
Have
19:21
you
19:22
been
19:22
happy
19:22
with
19:22
the
19:22
durability
19:23
of
19:23
the
19:23
Shenandoahs?
19:24
Yes,
19:25
we
19:25
have
19:25
had
19:25
good
19:26
feedback
19:27
and
19:27
they
19:27
seem
19:27
quite
19:28
strong.
19:28
We
19:28
haven't
19:29
had
19:29
any
19:29
complaints
19:30
as
19:30
far
19:30
as
19:31
hearing
19:31
about
19:31
any
19:32
breaking
19:32
or
19:32
anything
19:33
like
19:33
that.
19:33
So.
19:34
Yeah.
19:34
And
19:34
they
19:34
also
19:34
have
19:35
a
19:35
wider
19:35
footbed,
19:36
not
19:36
quite
19:37
as
19:37
the
19:38
cloud,
19:38
but
19:38
still
19:39
give
19:39
you
19:39
that
19:39
support
19:40
for
19:40
your
19:40
foot
19:40
over
19:41
those
19:41
many
19:41
miles
19:42
with
19:42
a
19:42
comfy
19:42
footbed.
19:43
Well,
19:44
that's
19:44
terrific.
19:44
And
19:45
if
19:45
you
19:45
just
19:45
go
19:45
to
19:46
the
19:46
Distance
19:46
Depot.com
19:47
and
19:47
search
19:47
for
19:48
stirrups,
19:48
you're
19:48
going
19:48
to
19:48
find
19:48
the
19:49
stirrup
19:49
page.
19:49
We'll
19:49
put
19:49
a
19:49
link
19:50
to
19:50
it
19:50
in
19:50
our
19:50
show
19:50
notes
19:51
as
19:51
well.
19:51
I
19:52
want
19:52
to
19:52
talk
19:52
to
19:52
you
19:52
about
19:52
something.
19:53
Obviously
19:53
with
19:53
all
19:53
the
19:53
tariffs
19:54
coming
19:54
in
19:54
and
19:54
everything,
19:54
I
19:55
assume
19:55
we're
19:55
not
19:55
expecting
19:56
the
19:56
prices
19:56
to
19:56
go
19:57
down
19:57
because
19:57
a
19:57
lot
19:57
of
19:57
this
19:58
stuff
19:58
comes
19:58
from
19:59
a
19:59
country
20:00
other
20:00
than
20:00
ours.
20:01
Yeah,
20:02
unfortunately,
20:02
we
20:02
would
20:03
love
20:03
to
20:03
buy
20:03
made
20:04
in
20:04
the
20:04
USA
20:04
products
20:05
and
20:05
do
20:05
whenever
20:06
possible.
20:07
So
20:07
many
20:07
of
20:07
these
20:08
products
20:08
are
20:08
made
20:08
in
20:09
China
20:09
and
20:10
the
20:10
cloud
20:10
strips
20:11
come
20:11
from
20:11
Canada.
20:12
So
20:12
it's
20:12
not
20:13
great
20:13
either
20:13
right
20:13
now.
20:14
So
20:15
your
20:15
encouragement
20:16
would
20:16
be
20:16
buy
20:16
before
20:16
the
20:16
prices
20:17
go
20:17
up.
20:17
If
20:17
you're,
20:17
if
20:18
you're
20:18
going
20:18
to
20:18
look,
20:19
I
20:19
would
20:19
say
20:19
if
20:20
you're
20:20
looking
20:20
at
20:20
anything
20:21
that
20:21
you
20:21
need
20:22
to
20:22
buy
20:22
this
20:22
year,
20:23
if
20:23
you're
20:23
planning
20:23
on
20:24
buying
20:24
something
20:24
this
20:24
year,
20:25
buy
20:25
it
20:25
now.
20:25
It's
20:25
not
20:25
going
20:26
to
20:26
get
20:26
cheaper.
20:27
No,
20:27
I
20:27
don't
20:28
see
20:28
that
20:28
happening.
20:29
Yeah.
20:29
Especially
20:29
if
20:29
it's
20:30
a
20:30
larger
20:30
purchase
20:30
like
20:30
a
20:31
saddle
20:31
or
20:31
something
20:31
that's
20:32
made
20:32
outside
20:32
the
20:32
country,
20:33
not
20:33
made
20:33
in
20:33
the
20:34
United
20:34
States.
20:35
Get
20:35
that
20:35
now.
20:35
Don't
20:36
wait.
20:36
Because
20:37
again,
20:37
I
20:38
don't
20:38
think
20:38
it's
20:38
getting
20:38
cheaper.
20:39
Yeah,
20:40
I
20:40
agree.
20:40
Yeah.
20:41
And
20:41
you
20:41
know,
20:41
this
20:41
is
20:42
the
20:42
first
20:42
time
20:42
I've
20:42
encouraged
20:43
people
20:43
to
20:43
do
20:43
that
20:43
in
20:43
the
20:44
history
20:44
of
20:44
this
20:44
show.
20:44
But
20:45
I
20:45
think
20:45
it's
20:45
the
20:45
first
20:45
time
20:46
we've
20:46
been
20:46
in
20:46
this
20:46
situation.
20:47
So
20:48
for
20:48
sure.
20:48
And
20:49
you
20:49
can
20:49
do
20:49
that
20:49
at
20:50
the
20:50
distance
20:50
depot.com
20:52
Our
20:52
first
20:53
guest
20:53
this
20:53
morning
20:53
is
20:53
Lisa
20:54
Snyder.
20:55
She
20:55
has
20:56
nearly
20:56
17,000
20:57
miles
20:58
and
20:59
a
20:59
91%
21:00
completion
21:00
rate.
21:01
She
21:01
has
21:01
completed
21:01
the
21:01
Teviston.
21:03
That's
21:04
pretty
21:04
good.
21:05
It
21:05
is.
21:06
It
21:06
absolutely
21:07
is.
21:07
Yes.
21:08
She
21:08
has
21:08
served
21:08
as
21:08
vice
21:09
president
21:09
of
21:09
AERC
21:10
and
21:11
been
21:11
on
21:11
the
21:11
AERC
21:12
board
21:13
for
21:14
like
21:14
10
21:14
years
21:15
of
21:15
service.
21:16
She
21:16
served
21:16
on
21:17
numerous
21:17
committees
21:19
and
21:19
she
21:19
was
21:20
just
21:20
inducted
21:20
to
21:20
the
21:21
AARC
21:21
hall
21:21
of
21:22
Fame
21:22
for
21:22
2024.
21:24
Good
21:25
morning,
21:25
Lisa.
21:26
We
21:26
want
21:26
to
21:26
say
21:26
congratulations
21:27
to
21:27
you
21:28
on
21:28
being
21:28
Award
21:29
the
21:29
2024
21:31
AERC
21:32
hall
21:32
of
21:32
Fame
21:32
person.
21:33
Yay.
21:35
Thank
21:35
you
21:36
so
21:36
much.
21:36
I
21:36
was
21:37
so
21:37
shocked
21:37
and
21:38
very,
21:38
very
21:38
honored
21:40
that's
21:40
terrific.
21:42
So
21:42
thank
21:42
you
21:43
so
21:43
much
21:43
for
21:43
agreeing
21:44
to
21:44
talk
21:44
to
21:44
us
21:45
this
21:45
morning.
21:46
And
21:47
we
21:47
want
21:47
to
21:47
talk.
21:47
We'll
21:48
get
21:48
started
21:48
talking
21:49
about
21:50
your
21:51
family
21:51
history
21:52
in
21:52
the
21:52
sport.
21:52
Your
21:53
family
21:53
has
21:53
a
21:53
long
21:54
history
21:55
with.
21:55
I
21:55
know,
21:55
at
21:56
least
21:56
three
21:56
generations.
21:57
So
21:58
tell
21:58
us
21:58
about
21:58
that.
22:00
So
22:01
my
22:01
parents
22:02
first
22:02
got
22:02
us
22:03
riding
22:03
by
22:03
going
22:04
to
22:04
rental
22:04
stables
22:05
when
22:05
I
22:05
was
22:05
a
22:05
little
22:05
kid.
22:06
Probably
22:06
started
22:07
riding
22:07
at
22:07
age
22:08
4
22:08
or
22:08
5
22:09
and
22:09
we
22:09
had
22:09
a
22:09
rental
22:10
stable
22:10
nearby
22:11
and
22:11
we
22:11
would
22:12
go
22:12
there
22:12
every
22:12
weekend
22:13
and
22:14
I
22:14
loved
22:14
it.
22:14
I
22:15
would
22:15
just
22:15
beg
22:16
them
22:16
to
22:16
let
22:17
me
22:17
stay
22:18
so
22:18
I
22:18
could
22:18
sleep
22:18
in
22:19
the
22:19
stalls
22:19
with
22:19
the
22:19
horses.
22:20
I
22:21
was
22:21
a
22:21
real
22:21
horse
22:21
crazy
22:22
kid.
22:23
So
22:24
that
22:24
unfortunately
22:25
came
22:25
to
22:25
an
22:25
end
22:26
when
22:26
the
22:26
Reynolds
22:26
stable
22:27
got
22:27
mowed
22:27
down
22:27
to
22:27
put
22:28
in
22:28
a
22:28
drive
22:28
in
22:28
theater.
22:29
And
22:29
I
22:30
cried,
22:30
I
22:30
was
22:31
so
22:31
upset.
22:32
But
22:32
we
22:32
found
22:32
other
22:33
places
22:33
to
22:33
ride
22:34
and
22:35
soon
22:35
got
22:36
my
22:36
first
22:36
horse.
22:37
We
22:38
were
22:38
at
22:38
a
22:39
show
22:39
barn,
22:40
so
22:40
that's
22:40
pretty
22:41
much
22:41
all
22:41
we
22:41
knew.
22:42
But
22:42
it
22:42
was
22:43
really
22:43
expensive
22:44
to
22:44
go
22:44
to
22:44
horse
22:45
shows
22:46
and
22:46
I
22:46
thought,
22:47
you
22:47
know,
22:47
why
22:48
are
22:48
we
22:48
spending
22:48
all
22:48
this
22:49
money?
22:49
And
22:50
I
22:50
get
22:50
to
22:50
ride
22:50
for
22:51
like
22:51
five
22:51
minutes,
22:52
sometimes
22:53
less.
22:53
And
22:53
I
22:54
told
22:54
my
22:54
parents
22:54
I
22:55
want
22:55
to
22:55
go
22:55
ride
22:55
for
22:56
a
22:56
lot
22:56
longer.
22:57
So
22:58
we
22:58
move
22:58
stables
22:59
and
23:00
got
23:00
hooked
23:01
up
23:01
with
23:01
a
23:01
trail
23:01
riding
23:02
group
23:03
and
23:04
the
23:04
owner
23:05
of
23:05
the
23:05
stable
23:06
did
23:06
the
23:06
Tevis
23:07
and
23:08
my
23:08
parents
23:08
got
23:09
completely
23:09
hooked.
23:10
We
23:10
got
23:10
a
23:10
couple
23:10
more
23:11
horses
23:11
and
23:12
started
23:12
doing
23:12
a
23:13
bunch
23:13
of
23:13
trail
23:14
riding.
23:15
So
23:15
one
23:16
summer
23:17
we
23:17
went
23:17
from
23:18
through
23:18
the
23:18
Malibu
23:19
mountains,
23:20
from
23:20
Topanga
23:21
all
23:21
the
23:21
way
23:22
to
23:22
PCH
23:23
Pacific
23:24
coast
23:24
highway
23:25
where
23:25
there
23:25
was
23:25
an
23:25
ice
23:26
cream
23:26
store
23:27
and
23:27
they
23:27
had
23:27
a
23:28
hitching
23:28
post
23:28
out
23:29
back
23:29
next
23:30
to
23:30
a
23:30
creek.
23:31
And
23:31
we
23:31
had
23:32
some
23:32
friends
23:32
bring
23:33
the
23:33
horses
23:33
hay
23:33
and
23:34
water
23:35
and
23:35
we
23:35
went
23:36
inside
23:37
and
23:37
had
23:37
our
23:37
ice
23:38
cream
23:38
and
23:39
then
23:39
rode
23:39
back
23:40
and
23:41
finished
23:41
in
23:41
the
23:41
moonlight
23:42
and
23:42
I
23:43
was
23:43
hooked.
23:44
That
23:44
was
23:44
a
23:45
phenomenal
23:45
experience
23:46
that
23:46
I'll
23:46
never
23:47
forget.
23:47
So
23:48
we
23:48
probably
23:48
did
23:48
40
23:49
miles
23:49
that
23:49
day.
23:50
So
23:50
I
23:51
thought,
23:51
if
23:51
I
23:51
can
23:51
do
23:51
that,
23:52
I
23:52
can
23:52
do
23:52
50.
23:53
But
23:53
my
23:54
parents
23:54
got
23:54
first
23:54
crack
23:55
to
23:55
the
23:55
horses,
23:56
so
23:57
they
23:57
started
23:58
doing
23:58
endurance
23:58
rides
23:59
and
23:59
I
24:00
was
24:00
the
24:00
crew.
24:01
And
24:02
pretty
24:02
soon
24:02
I
24:02
figured
24:02
out
24:03
it's
24:03
a
24:03
whole
24:03
lot
24:03
more
24:04
fun
24:04
to
24:04
ride.
24:05
So
24:06
I
24:06
started
24:06
saving
24:07
up
24:07
for
24:07
my
24:08
horse
24:09
and
24:10
I
24:10
was
24:10
babysitting
24:11
and
24:11
I
24:11
had
24:12
a
24:12
paper
24:12
route
24:13
and
24:13
I
24:13
exercised
24:14
people's
24:14
horses
24:15
for
24:15
them
24:16
and
24:16
saved
24:16
up
24:17
a
24:17
good
24:17
amount
24:18
of
24:18
money
24:18
and
24:19
bought
24:19
my
24:19
first
24:20
horse.
24:21
So
24:22
my
24:22
parents
24:23
at
24:23
this
24:23
time
24:24
now
24:24
were
24:24
into
24:25
doing
24:25
Tevis
24:26
and
24:27
so
24:27
I
24:28
was
24:28
crewing
24:28
all
24:28
over
24:29
the
24:29
place.
24:29
And
24:29
in
24:30
those
24:30
days
24:30
you
24:30
could
24:30
crew
24:31
wherever
24:31
you
24:31
could
24:31
get
24:32
to.
24:32
So
24:33
I
24:33
was
24:33
also
24:33
a
24:33
runner.
24:34
So
24:34
I
24:34
would
24:34
run
24:34
in
24:35
four
24:36
or
24:36
five
24:36
miles
24:37
from
24:37
where
24:37
I
24:37
could
24:38
park
24:38
to
24:38
the
24:38
Trail
24:39
to
24:39
give
24:40
them
24:40
water.
24:41
So
24:41
I'd
24:41
pop
24:42
up
24:42
somewhere
24:42
and
24:43
give
24:43
them
24:43
water
24:43
and
24:44
run
24:44
back
24:44
out
24:44
with
24:44
an
24:45
empty
24:45
bucket
24:46
and
24:46
go
24:46
on
24:47
to
24:47
the
24:47
next
24:47
spot.
24:48
So,
24:48
you
24:49
know,
24:49
I,
24:49
I
24:49
really
24:50
grew
24:50
up
24:50
crewing
24:51
and
24:52
I
24:52
know
24:52
what
24:52
it
24:52
takes
24:53
to
24:53
make
24:53
a
24:53
good
24:53
crew
24:54
and
24:54
I
24:55
appreciate
24:55
a
24:56
good
24:56
crew.
24:57
And
24:58
so
24:59
I
24:59
didn't
24:59
really
25:00
do
25:00
100
25:00
until
25:01
my
25:01
first
25:02
probably
25:03
was
25:03
1988.
25:05
I
25:06
was
25:06
in
25:06
my
25:07
20s
25:08
and
25:08
that
25:08
was
25:08
my
25:08
first
25:09
100
25:09
was
25:09
Tevis.
25:11
So
25:11
that's,
25:11
that
25:12
was
25:12
really
25:12
my
25:12
big
25:13
start
25:13
in
25:13
endurance.
25:14
Wow.
25:15
And
25:15
I
25:15
see
25:16
your
25:16
mother
25:16
top
25:17
10,
25:17
Tevis
25:18
twice.
25:19
Your
25:20
second
25:22
place.
25:23
Okay,
25:23
top
25:24
10.
25:25
And
25:25
your
25:26
father
25:26
also
25:26
has
25:27
run
25:27
the
25:27
western
25:27
states
25:29
run
25:29
and
25:30
the
25:30
world
25:30
championship
25:30
Riot
25:31
and
25:31
Thai.
25:31
So
25:31
you
25:32
come
25:32
from
25:33
quite
25:33
a
25:34
family
25:34
of
25:34
athletes.
25:36
Yeah,
25:36
you
25:37
know,
25:37
my
25:37
parents
25:37
were
25:37
tough
25:38
competitors
25:39
and
25:40
my
25:40
dad
25:40
and
25:41
I
25:41
would
25:41
go
25:42
and
25:43
work
25:43
the
25:43
trail,
25:44
he
25:44
called
25:44
it.
25:44
We
25:45
run
25:45
portions
25:46
of
25:46
it
25:47
and
25:47
we
25:47
really
25:47
memorize
25:48
that
25:48
trail.
25:49
He
25:49
knew
25:49
every
25:50
inch
25:50
of
25:50
it,
25:50
so
25:51
he
25:51
completed
25:51
three
25:52
times.
25:53
And
25:54
when
25:55
you
25:55
run
25:55
it,
25:56
you
25:56
have
25:56
a
25:57
completely
25:57
different
25:58
perspective
25:58
than
25:58
when
25:59
you
25:59
ride
25:59
it.
25:59
And
26:00
I
26:00
believe
26:01
that
26:01
really
26:02
helps
26:02
me
26:03
as
26:03
a
26:03
rider
26:04
because
26:04
I
26:05
understand
26:06
the
26:06
pacing
26:07
aspect
26:07
of
26:08
it
26:08
better.
26:09
So
26:09
if
26:10
anybody's
26:10
gonna
26:11
start
26:11
riding
26:12
and
26:12
they
26:12
want
26:12
to
26:12
do
26:12
the
26:12
longer
26:13
distances,
26:14
I
26:14
encourage
26:15
them
26:15
to
26:15
at
26:15
least
26:15
get
26:15
out
26:16
and,
26:16
and
26:16
do
26:16
a
26:17
5K.
26:17
So
26:17
you
26:18
have
26:18
an
26:18
idea
26:18
what
26:18
the
26:18
pacing
26:19
is
26:19
like.
26:20
And
26:20
one
26:20
of
26:20
the
26:21
biggest
26:21
mistakes.
26:22
Yeah,
26:22
one
26:22
of
26:23
the
26:23
biggest
26:23
mistakes
26:23
people
26:24
make
26:24
is
26:25
they
26:25
go
26:25
too
26:25
fast
26:25
too
26:26
soon.
26:26
Well,
26:27
if
26:27
you
26:27
train
26:28
at
26:28
an
26:28
8
26:28
minute
26:28
mile
26:29
pace
26:29
as
26:29
a
26:30
runner
26:30
and
26:30
you
26:31
go
26:31
out
26:31
and
26:31
do
26:31
your
26:32
first
26:32
mile
26:32
at
26:32
a
26:32
five
26:33
minute
26:33
mile
26:33
pace,
26:34
it's
26:34
going
26:34
to
26:34
get
26:35
ugly
26:35
fast.
26:37
So
26:38
the,
26:39
the
26:39
running
26:40
background
26:40
really
26:41
helped.
26:41
He
26:42
was
26:42
an
26:42
ultra
26:42
marathoner
26:43
before
26:43
that
26:43
was
26:44
a
26:44
thing
26:45
actually.
26:46
Yes,
26:47
you're
26:47
right.
26:47
Yeah.
26:48
So
26:48
the
26:48
very
26:48
first
26:49
runner
26:50
at
26:50
Tevis
26:51
was
26:51
a
26:51
guy
26:51
whose
26:51
horse
26:52
didn't
26:52
vet
26:52
in
26:53
and
26:54
he
26:54
said,
26:54
you
26:55
know,
26:55
I'm
26:55
not
26:55
going
26:55
to
26:55
just
26:56
sit
26:56
here
26:56
all
26:56
weekend,
26:56
I'm
26:57
going
26:57
to
26:57
go
26:57
run.
26:57
So
26:57
he
26:58
ran
26:58
the
26:58
trail
26:58
with
26:58
the
26:59
horses.
26:59
I
26:59
didn't
26:59
know
27:00
that's
27:00
how
27:00
it
27:00
started.
27:01
Yeah,
27:02
yeah.
27:02
It
27:03
took
27:03
off
27:03
after
27:03
that
27:04
and
27:04
pretty
27:04
soon
27:04
it
27:05
grew
27:05
so
27:06
big
27:06
they
27:06
had
27:07
to
27:07
separate
27:07
it
27:07
because
27:08
the
27:08
horses
27:08
and
27:09
the,
27:09
the
27:09
runners
27:10
were
27:10
just,
27:10
it
27:11
was
27:11
too
27:11
congested
27:11
on
27:12
the
27:12
trail.
27:12
Now
27:13
most
27:13
of
27:13
the
27:13
riders
27:13
I
27:14
know
27:14
would
27:14
go,
27:14
why
27:15
would
27:15
I
27:15
run
27:15
it
27:15
when
27:15
I
27:15
have
27:16
a
27:16
horse?
27:16
So
27:17
you
27:17
know,
27:19
that's
27:20
true.
27:20
Karen,
27:21
you
27:21
have
27:21
never
27:21
run
27:21
it,
27:22
right?
27:23
No,
27:24
no,
27:25
I'll
27:26
do
27:26
a
27:26
short
27:26
ride
27:26
in
27:27
tie,
27:27
but
27:27
that's
27:27
it.
27:27
But
27:28
that
27:28
still
27:28
uses
27:29
a
27:29
horse,
27:29
so.
27:30
Right,
27:32
that's
27:32
it.
27:32
And
27:33
Lisa,
27:33
your
27:33
daughter
27:34
also
27:34
has
27:35
ridden,
27:35
correct?
27:37
Yeah.
27:38
My
27:38
daughter
27:38
Amy
27:39
has
27:39
about
27:39
2,500
27:40
endurance
27:40
miles
27:41
and
27:42
she
27:42
competed
27:43
all
27:43
throughout
27:44
high
27:44
school,
27:45
which
27:45
was
27:45
hard
27:46
because
27:46
even
27:47
in
27:47
those
27:47
days
27:48
it's
27:48
hard
27:48
to
27:48
miss
27:49
a
27:49
day
27:49
of
27:49
high
27:49
school.
27:50
There's
27:50
just
27:51
so
27:51
much
27:51
homework
27:51
and
27:52
stuff
27:52
that
27:52
goes
27:52
into
27:52
it.
27:53
So
27:53
we
27:53
chose
27:53
our
27:54
races
27:54
wisely
27:55
and
27:56
when
27:56
she
27:57
got
27:57
to
27:58
Arizona
27:58
State,
27:59
the
27:59
first
27:59
thing
27:59
she
27:59
did
28:00
was
28:00
establish
28:00
an
28:01
equestrian
28:01
team.
28:02
And
28:03
so
28:04
the
28:04
three
28:04
of
28:04
us
28:04
would
28:04
ride
28:05
together.
28:05
It
28:05
was
28:05
a
28:05
lot
28:06
of
28:06
fun
28:06
and
28:07
we
28:07
had
28:07
a
28:08
lot
28:08
of.
28:08
Made
28:08
a
28:08
lot
28:08
of
28:09
good
28:09
memories
28:09
in
28:09
those
28:10
days.
28:10
That
28:10
was
28:10
great.
28:11
Oh,
28:11
that's
28:12
so
28:12
cool.
28:12
So
28:13
what
28:13
do
28:13
you
28:13
believe
28:13
was
28:14
the
28:14
key
28:14
to
28:14
your
28:14
success?
28:15
Like
28:15
in,
28:16
in
28:16
regards
28:16
to
28:17
choosing
28:17
an
28:18
endurance
28:18
horse?
28:20
One
28:21
of
28:21
the
28:21
things
28:22
Yvette
28:23
early
28:23
on
28:23
told
28:23
me
28:24
was
28:25
study
28:25
confirmation
28:26
so
28:27
you
28:27
can
28:27
figure
28:28
out
28:28
if
28:28
a
28:28
horse
28:28
is
28:29
going
28:29
to
28:29
hold
28:29
up
28:30
to
28:30
the
28:30
rigors
28:30
of
28:31
endurance.
28:32
So
28:32
I
28:32
did
28:32
that
28:33
and
28:33
I
28:34
really
28:34
paid
28:34
attention
28:35
to
28:35
feet
28:36
because
28:36
the
28:37
old
28:37
saying
28:37
goes,
28:38
no
28:38
feet,
28:38
no
28:38
horse.
28:39
And
28:40
I
28:40
made
28:41
a
28:41
bunch
28:41
of
28:41
mistakes
28:42
early
28:42
on
28:42
and
28:42
ended
28:43
up
28:43
selling
28:43
some
28:44
of
28:44
the
28:44
horses
28:44
that
28:44
I
28:45
bought
28:45
initially
28:45
because
28:46
they
28:47
just
28:47
weren't
28:47
cut
28:47
out
28:48
for
28:48
it.
28:48
Breeding
28:49
isn't
28:49
enough.
28:50
So
28:51
we
28:51
had
28:51
two
28:51
horses
28:52
from
28:52
the
28:52
same
28:53
breeder
28:53
who
28:53
were
28:53
fantastic.
28:55
I
28:55
went
28:55
and
28:55
got
28:55
a
28:56
third
28:56
and
28:57
she
28:57
hated
28:57
it.
28:58
She
28:58
wanted
28:58
to
28:58
be
28:58
a
28:58
show
28:59
horse,
28:59
dink
28:59
around
29:00
in
29:00
the
29:00
show
29:00
ring
29:00
for
29:01
five
29:01
minutes
29:01
and
29:01
be
29:02
done.
29:03
And
29:03
so
29:04
we
29:05
really
29:05
believe
29:06
that
29:06
the
29:06
horse
29:06
has
29:06
to
29:07
want
29:07
to
29:07
do
29:07
it.
29:08
If
29:08
they
29:08
don't,
29:09
you
29:09
need
29:09
to
29:09
find
29:09
them
29:10
a
29:10
good
29:10
match,
29:11
a
29:11
better
29:11
match.
29:12
So
29:13
Lisa,
29:13
give
29:13
us
29:14
some
29:14
training
29:15
tips
29:15
that
29:15
you
29:15
swear
29:16
by
29:16
for
29:16
a
29:17
hundred
29:17
mile
29:17
ride.
29:18
Well,
29:19
I
29:19
kind
29:19
of
29:20
touched
29:20
on
29:20
one,
29:21
and
29:21
that
29:21
is
29:22
to,
29:22
to
29:22
race
29:22
as
29:23
you
29:23
train.
29:24
You
29:24
can't
29:24
go
29:25
out
29:25
cantering
29:26
and
29:26
expect
29:26
to
29:26
canter
29:27
10
29:27
miles
29:27
when
29:28
you've
29:28
only
29:28
ever
29:29
cantered
29:29
a
29:29
horse
29:30
for
29:30
maybe
29:31
a
29:31
mile.
29:32
It's
29:32
not
29:32
fair
29:32
the
29:33
horse
29:33
and,
29:34
and
29:34
no
29:34
good
29:35
is
29:35
going
29:35
to
29:35
come
29:35
of
29:36
it.
29:36
So
29:37
pace
29:38
as
29:38
you
29:38
train
29:39
and
29:41
get
29:41
to
29:41
know
29:42
what
29:42
the
29:42
horse's
29:42
comfort
29:43
level
29:43
is.
29:44
Most
29:44
horses
29:45
get
29:45
comfortable
29:46
doing
29:46
longer
29:46
trots
29:47
as
29:47
you
29:47
do
29:48
them
29:48
in
29:48
training
29:49
and
29:49
with
29:50
carrying
29:50
thrown
29:51
in
29:51
as
29:52
the
29:52
terrain
29:53
and
29:53
their
29:53
level
29:53
of
29:53
fitness
29:54
dictates.
29:55
And
29:56
you
29:56
also
29:56
want
29:56
to
29:57
figure
29:57
out
29:57
how
29:57
well
29:58
the
29:58
horse
29:58
takes
29:59
care
29:59
of
29:59
himself,
30:00
how
30:00
much
30:00
management
30:01
you
30:01
have
30:01
to
30:01
do.
30:03
So
30:03
a
30:03
lot
30:03
of
30:04
times
30:04
I
30:04
would
30:05
stop
30:05
at
30:06
a
30:06
creek
30:06
and
30:07
just
30:07
get
30:07
off
30:08
and
30:08
wait
30:08
there
30:08
till
30:09
the
30:09
horse
30:09
could
30:09
kind
30:10
of
30:10
just
30:10
settle
30:10
down
30:11
and
30:11
drink.
30:12
And
30:13
that's
30:13
really
30:13
important
30:14
because
30:14
then
30:14
they
30:15
figure
30:15
out,
30:15
you
30:15
know,
30:15
this
30:16
crazy
30:16
lady
30:16
is
30:17
going
30:17
to
30:17
keep
30:17
riding
30:17
me
30:18
for
30:18
God
30:18
knows
30:18
how
30:18
long.
30:19
I
30:19
better
30:19
eat
30:20
and
30:20
drink
30:20
and
30:20
take
30:21
care
30:21
of
30:21
myself.
30:23
Right,
30:23
right.
30:24
Yeah.
30:25
Some
30:25
horses
30:25
need
30:26
a
30:26
little
30:26
time
30:26
to
30:27
just
30:27
chill
30:27
out
30:27
at
30:28
the
30:28
water,
30:29
look
30:29
around
30:30
a
30:30
little
30:30
bit
30:31
and
30:31
relax,
30:32
and
30:32
then
30:32
they
30:33
drink
30:33
really
30:33
good.
30:35
So
30:35
what
30:36
was
30:36
your
30:36
toughest
30:37
ride
30:37
and
30:38
why?
30:39
I
30:40
think
30:40
my
30:40
first
30:41
toughest
30:41
was
30:42
my
30:42
toughest
30:42
because
30:42
it
30:43
was
30:43
my
30:43
first
30:43
hundred
30:44
and
30:45
my
30:45
dad
30:45
was
30:46
supposed
30:46
to
30:47
take
30:47
me
30:47
through,
30:48
and
30:48
he
30:48
got
30:48
pulled
30:49
at
30:49
the
30:49
first
30:49
vet
30:49
check,
30:51
so
30:52
I
30:52
had
30:52
to
30:53
do
30:53
everything
30:54
myself.
30:55
And
30:55
when
30:55
you
30:56
have
30:56
another
30:56
rider
30:57
riding
30:57
with
30:57
you,
30:58
there's
30:58
not
30:58
only
30:59
the
30:59
camaraderie
31:00
between
31:01
you,
31:01
but
31:01
also
31:01
the
31:02
horses.
31:03
So
31:04
that
31:04
was
31:04
a
31:04
little
31:05
tough
31:05
psychologically
31:06
for
31:06
me,
31:06
especially
31:07
riding
31:07
in
31:07
the
31:07
dark.
31:08
And
31:09
I
31:09
encountered
31:09
a
31:10
bear
31:10
on
31:11
the
31:11
trail
31:11
that
31:11
scared
31:12
the
31:12
heck
31:12
out
31:12
of
31:12
me
31:13
and
31:13
the
31:13
horse.
31:14
So
31:15
while
31:15
it
31:15
was
31:15
a
31:16
good
31:16
story
31:16
to
31:16
tell,
31:17
it's
31:18
not
31:18
so
31:18
fun
31:18
racing
31:19
down
31:19
a
31:19
trail
31:20
in
31:20
the
31:20
dark,
31:20
being
31:20
chased
31:21
by
31:21
a
31:21
bear.
31:21
So
31:22
you
31:22
think,
31:24
was
31:24
that
31:24
your.
31:24
Was
31:25
that
31:25
your
31:25
scariest
31:25
animal
31:26
encounter,
31:26
that
31:27
ride?
31:27
Which
31:28
is
31:28
ironic
31:28
that
31:28
it
31:28
was
31:28
one
31:28
of
31:29
your
31:29
early
31:29
ones.
31:30
Yes,
31:31
it
31:31
was.
31:31
It
31:31
was,
31:32
yeah.
31:32
Well,
31:33
bear
31:33
chasing
31:33
you,
31:33
that
31:34
would
31:34
be
31:34
everybody's
31:35
scariest
31:36
animal
31:36
encounter,
31:37
I
31:37
think.
31:38
Oh,
31:38
my
31:38
gosh,
31:39
you're
31:39
in
31:39
the
31:40
dark
31:40
and
31:40
you
31:40
hear
31:41
this
31:41
massive
31:41
crush
31:42
crashing
31:43
through
31:43
the
31:43
underbrush,
31:44
and
31:45
you
31:45
think
31:45
it's,
31:46
you
31:46
know,
31:46
a
31:47
Tyrannosaurus
31:48
rex
31:48
or
31:48
whatever.
31:49
That
31:49
sounds
31:50
like
31:50
something
31:50
ginormous.
31:52
So
31:52
we
31:52
got
31:53
out
31:53
of
31:53
there
31:53
pretty
31:53
quick.
31:54
It
31:54
is
31:54
amazing
31:54
how
31:55
when
31:55
you're
31:55
in
31:55
the
31:55
woods
31:55
at
31:55
night,
31:56
a
31:56
squirrel
31:56
sounds
31:56
like
31:57
it
31:57
might
31:57
be
31:57
a
31:57
bear.
31:58
You
31:58
know,
31:58
it's
31:58
like.
32:02
Oh,
32:02
gosh,
32:02
no
32:03
kidding.
32:03
Well,
32:04
let's
32:04
sort
32:04
of
32:04
switch
32:05
over
32:06
here
32:06
real
32:06
quick
32:07
to
32:08
talking
32:08
about
32:09
some
32:09
of
32:09
the
32:09
things
32:10
you've
32:10
seen
32:11
during
32:11
your
32:12
tenure
32:12
on
32:12
the
32:13
AERC
32:13
board.
32:14
So
32:15
what
32:15
is
32:16
one
32:16
of
32:16
the
32:16
biggest
32:16
changes
32:17
you've
32:17
seen
32:18
over
32:18
the
32:18
years?
32:20
Well,
32:21
there's
32:22
two
32:22
I'd
32:22
like
32:22
to
32:23
point
32:23
at,
32:23
and
32:23
the
32:24
first
32:24
one
32:24
is
32:25
we
32:25
used
32:25
to
32:26
have
32:26
as
32:26
a
32:26
completion
32:27
criteria,
32:28
sound
32:28
at
32:29
the
32:29
walk
32:30
with
32:30
a
32:30
pulse
32:30
of
32:31
72,
32:32
and
32:33
that
32:33
got
32:34
changed
32:34
to
32:35
sound
32:35
at
32:35
the
32:36
trot
32:37
fit
32:37
to
32:37
continue
32:38
with
32:39
a
32:39
pulse
32:39
at
32:39
64
32:40
for
32:40
the
32:40
50s.
32:41
That
32:41
was
32:42
huge.
32:43
People
32:43
learned
32:43
they
32:43
had
32:44
to
32:44
pace
32:44
better.
32:44
They
32:45
couldn't
32:45
just
32:45
race
32:46
in
32:46
at
32:46
the
32:46
finish
32:47
if
32:47
their
32:47
horse
32:48
was
32:48
tired
32:48
and
32:49
just
32:49
wanting
32:50
to
32:50
get
32:50
done
32:51
because
32:51
they
32:51
had
32:52
to
32:52
recover.
32:53
So
32:53
that
32:53
was
32:53
one.
32:54
And
32:54
the
32:54
other
32:55
big
32:55
one
32:56
was
32:56
the
32:56
way
32:57
the
32:57
limited
32:57
distance
32:58
rides
32:58
were
32:58
looked
32:58
at.
32:59
When
33:00
I
33:00
first
33:01
started,
33:01
they
33:01
were
33:01
considered
33:02
training
33:02
rides.
33:03
There
33:03
was
33:04
no
33:04
placing,
33:05
there
33:05
was
33:05
no
33:05
best
33:05
condition,
33:07
and
33:08
sometimes
33:08
they
33:09
got
33:09
nothing
33:10
except,
33:10
like
33:10
a
33:11
certificate
33:12
as
33:13
a
33:13
completion
33:13
award.
33:15
So
33:15
that
33:16
really
33:16
switched
33:17
up
33:17
when
33:17
it
33:18
became
33:18
obvious
33:19
that
33:19
more
33:19
riders
33:20
could
33:20
do
33:21
the
33:21
25
33:22
to
33:22
35
33:22
mile
33:23
distance
33:23
than
33:24
the
33:24
longer
33:24
distances.
33:25
And
33:26
the
33:27
other
33:27
thing
33:27
that
33:27
became
33:28
obvious
33:28
was
33:29
they're
33:30
supporting
33:30
the
33:31
longer
33:31
distances.
33:33
So
33:33
we
33:34
wanted
33:34
to
33:34
put
33:34
things
33:34
on
33:35
an
33:35
equal
33:35
footing.
33:36
They
33:36
became
33:37
placed
33:38
rides.
33:39
So
33:40
being
33:40
my
33:40
last
33:40
name
33:41
starts
33:41
with
33:41
an
33:41
S,
33:42
I
33:42
wouldn't
33:42
be
33:42
40th
33:43
if
33:43
I
33:43
came
33:44
across
33:44
the
33:44
line
33:45
and
33:46
finished
33:46
first.
33:47
And
33:48
also
33:48
there
33:49
was
33:49
the
33:49
best
33:49
condition
33:50
up
33:50
for
33:50
grab.
33:50
So
33:51
there
33:51
was
33:51
a
33:51
bit
33:51
of
33:51
a
33:52
change
33:52
of
33:52
focus
33:53
of
33:54
the
33:54
first
33:55
10.
33:55
Instead
33:56
of
33:56
just
33:56
saying,
33:57
oh
33:57
yeah,
33:57
I
33:57
raced
33:57
in
33:58
and
33:58
got
33:58
second
33:58
place,
33:59
it
33:59
was
33:59
more
34:00
like,
34:00
well,
34:00
I
34:00
got
34:00
best
34:01
condition.
34:02
That
34:02
was
34:02
the
34:02
big
34:03
deal.
34:04
Right.
34:05
And
34:05
so
34:05
what
34:06
role
34:06
change
34:07
do
34:07
you
34:07
think
34:07
has
34:07
had
34:08
the
34:08
most
34:08
impact?
34:09
Was
34:09
it
34:09
the
34:10
post
34:10
criteria
34:11
and
34:11
fit
34:11
to
34:11
continue?
34:14
It
34:14
really
34:14
was
34:15
because
34:15
it
34:15
changed
34:16
how
34:16
people
34:17
thought
34:17
about
34:17
pacing
34:18
and
34:19
they
34:19
consider
34:20
pacing
34:20
much
34:21
more.
34:21
And
34:22
there
34:22
was
34:22
more
34:23
of
34:23
a
34:23
focus
34:23
on.
34:26
Gotcha.
34:27
And
34:27
we
34:27
did
34:27
away
34:28
with
34:28
the
34:28
respirations.
34:29
Even
34:29
though
34:29
we
34:30
still
34:30
call
34:30
it
34:31
PNRs,
34:32
most
34:33
rides
34:33
anymore
34:34
don't
34:34
count
34:35
respirations.
34:36
I
34:37
remember
34:37
rides
34:38
when
34:38
I
34:39
started,
34:39
they
34:39
still
34:40
did
34:40
that.
34:41
And
34:41
I
34:41
remember
34:42
my
34:42
friend's
34:43
horse
34:43
getting
34:44
held
34:44
up
34:44
because
34:44
her
34:45
respiration
34:46
was
34:47
just
34:48
slightly
34:48
over
34:48
her
34:49
horse's
34:49
pulse,
34:49
which
34:50
was
34:50
like
34:50
36.
34:51
And
34:51
she
34:52
got
34:52
held
34:52
up
34:52
for
34:53
that.
34:53
And
34:54
now
34:54
that's
34:54
not
34:54
a,
34:55
you
34:55
know,
34:55
now
34:55
that's
34:56
been
34:56
done
34:56
away
34:56
with
34:57
long
34:57
ago.
34:58
So
34:58
I
34:59
understand,
35:00
you
35:00
know
35:00
how
35:01
like
35:01
you
35:01
said,
35:02
things
35:02
have
35:02
changed
35:03
with
35:03
people
35:04
coming
35:04
in
35:04
racing
35:05
and
35:06
it's,
35:07
you
35:08
know,
35:08
changed
35:08
the
35:09
sport
35:09
for
35:09
the
35:09
better.
35:10
Just
35:10
like
35:10
with
35:11
the
35:12
on
35:12
the
35:12
limited
35:13
distance,
35:13
they
35:13
had
35:14
to,
35:14
they
35:14
have
35:14
to
35:14
come
35:15
in
35:15
now
35:15
and
35:16
their
35:16
time
35:17
doesn't
35:17
stop
35:18
and
35:18
their
35:18
placings
35:19
don't
35:19
occur
35:19
until
35:20
they
35:20
meet
35:21
the
35:21
pulse
35:21
criteria.
35:23
Exactly.
35:24
That
35:24
was
35:24
huge.
35:25
And
35:25
a
35:25
lot
35:26
of
35:26
vets
35:26
would
35:26
point
35:27
out
35:27
at
35:27
the
35:28
pre
35:28
ride
35:28
meeting,
35:29
hey,
35:29
guys,
35:30
don't
35:30
bother
35:30
racing
35:31
in
35:31
because
35:31
if
35:31
your
35:32
horse
35:32
doesn't
35:32
recover,
35:33
somebody
35:33
who
35:34
comes
35:34
in
35:34
10
35:34
minutes
35:35
after
35:35
you,
35:35
who's
35:36
able
35:36
to
35:36
recover
35:37
because
35:37
they
35:37
pace
35:38
better,
35:38
they'll
35:38
place
35:39
ahead
35:39
of
35:39
you.
35:40
And
35:40
that
35:40
was
35:40
a
35:41
big
35:41
wake
35:41
up
35:41
call.
35:42
Exactly.
35:43
And
35:43
so
35:43
what
35:43
do
35:44
you
35:44
see
35:44
as
35:44
the
35:44
biggest
35:45
challenges
35:45
facing
35:46
our
35:46
sport?
35:47
I
35:48
think
35:48
the
35:48
loss
35:48
of
35:49
trails
35:49
is
35:50
the
35:50
big
35:50
one.
35:51
It's
35:51
the
35:52
old
35:53
saying,
35:53
use
35:53
it
35:54
or
35:54
lose
35:54
it.
35:55
And
35:55
the
35:56
mountain
35:56
biking
35:56
community
35:57
has
35:57
grown
35:58
enormously
35:59
and
36:00
we
36:01
have
36:01
to
36:01
be
36:01
able
36:02
to
36:02
share
36:02
the
36:02
trails.
36:03
We
36:03
have
36:03
to
36:03
have
36:04
a
36:04
horse
36:04
presence.
36:05
Otherwise
36:06
the
36:07
equestrian
36:08
aspect
36:08
of
36:08
the
36:08
trails
36:09
is
36:09
going
36:09
to
36:09
go
36:09
by
36:09
the
36:09
wayside
36:10
and
36:11
that
36:11
really
36:11
scares
36:12
me.
36:12
So
36:12
we
36:12
need
36:12
more
36:13
people
36:13
to
36:14
get
36:14
out
36:14
on
36:14
the
36:14
trails,
36:15
to
36:15
do
36:16
trail
36:16
work,
36:16
to
36:17
keep
36:17
them
36:17
open
36:18
and
36:19
make
36:19
it
36:20
known
36:20
that,
36:20
you
36:20
know,
36:20
this
36:21
is
36:21
an
36:21
equestrian
36:22
area.
36:23
Exactly.
36:24
And
36:24
it
36:24
gets
36:25
harder
36:25
and
36:25
harder
36:25
with
36:26
dealing
36:27
with
36:27
all
36:27
the
36:27
Government
36:28
agencies
36:29
and
36:29
getting
36:29
permits
36:30
and
36:31
a
36:31
place
36:31
to
36:32
have
36:32
the
36:33
base
36:33
camp
36:34
in
36:34
a
36:34
lot
36:34
of
36:35
areas
36:35
is
36:36
becoming
36:36
a
36:37
challenge.
36:37
With
36:38
all
36:38
the
36:38
growth,
36:39
you
36:39
know,
36:39
especially
36:40
in
36:40
California,
36:41
the
36:41
whole
36:42
state
36:42
has
36:43
really
36:43
lost
36:44
a
36:44
lot
36:44
of
36:45
rides
36:45
over
36:46
the
36:46
last,
36:46
you
36:47
know,
36:47
decade,
36:48
decade
36:48
and
36:48
a
36:48
half.
36:50
You
36:50
know,
36:50
we
36:50
only
36:50
have
36:51
two
36:51
hundreds
36:52
left
36:52
in
36:52
the
36:52
whole
36:53
state
36:53
now.
36:55
And
36:55
one
36:55
of
36:56
the
36:56
biggies,
36:56
especially
36:57
I'm
36:57
in
36:58
the
36:58
Los
36:58
Angeles
36:59
area,
36:59
but
37:00
we
37:00
have
37:01
a
37:01
massive
37:01
amount
37:01
of
37:02
development
37:02
going
37:03
on.
37:03
So
37:04
like
37:04
you
37:04
said,
37:05
you're
37:05
right
37:05
on
37:05
the
37:05
base
37:06
camp
37:06
areas.
37:07
You
37:07
know,
37:07
finding
37:07
a
37:07
place
37:08
to
37:08
park
37:08
100
37:09
rigs
37:10
with
37:10
trail
37:10
access
37:11
has
37:11
really
37:12
become
37:12
difficult.
37:13
So
37:14
we've
37:14
lost
37:15
a
37:15
lot
37:15
of
37:15
rides.
37:16
And
37:17
so
37:17
now
37:17
there's
37:18
a
37:18
lot
37:18
of
37:19
enthusiasm
37:20
behind
37:21
working
37:21
on
37:21
the
37:22
trails
37:22
because
37:22
people
37:23
realize
37:24
those
37:25
trail
37:25
hours
37:26
that
37:26
we
37:26
log
37:27
are
37:27
counted
37:28
and
37:28
looked
37:28
at
37:29
by
37:29
the
37:30
officials,
37:30
not
37:31
only
37:31
like
37:32
in
37:32
Congress,
37:32
but
37:32
also
37:33
the
37:33
Forest
37:34
Service,
37:34
the
37:35
Park
37:35
Service,
37:36
all
37:36
of
37:36
them.
37:37
So
37:37
that's
37:38
a
37:38
big
37:38
deal,
37:38
you
37:39
know.
37:39
And
37:39
I
37:39
think
37:39
even
37:40
on.
37:40
I
37:40
think
37:40
on
37:41
the
37:41
east
37:41
coast,
37:41
it's
37:41
probably
37:42
worse
37:42
than
37:43
it
37:43
is
37:43
on
37:43
the
37:43
west
37:43
coast
37:44
right
37:44
now
37:44
because
37:45
we're
37:45
just.
37:46
We're
37:46
losing,
37:46
you
37:47
know,
37:47
land
37:47
like
37:47
crazy.
37:48
There's
37:49
two
37:49
bills
37:49
in
37:50
Florida
37:50
legislature
37:51
right
37:51
now
37:51
that
37:51
would
37:51
give
37:52
the
37:52
state
37:52
control
37:53
of
37:54
zoning
37:54
and
37:55
take
37:55
it
37:55
away
37:55
from
37:56
counties
37:56
and
37:56
local
37:57
municipalities.
37:59
So.
37:59
And
37:59
they
38:00
would.
38:00
Which
38:00
would
38:01
eliminate
38:01
all
38:01
the
38:01
farm
38:02
preservation
38:03
groups
38:03
in
38:03
the
38:03
country,
38:04
including
38:04
here
38:04
in
38:04
Ocala.
38:05
So.
38:06
And
38:06
would.
38:07
Would
38:07
change
38:07
the
38:07
density
38:08
of
38:08
housing
38:08
and
38:09
everything
38:09
and
38:09
would
38:09
allow
38:10
those
38:10
farm
38:11
preservation
38:11
lands
38:12
to
38:12
be
38:12
sold
38:12
off.
38:13
I.
38:13
Yeah,
38:14
that.
38:14
None
38:14
of
38:14
that
38:15
helps
38:15
us
38:15
horse
38:15
people.
38:16
Right?
38:17
That's
38:18
so
38:18
right.
38:18
And
38:19
it's
38:19
a
38:19
little
38:19
bit
38:20
scary,
38:20
I
38:21
think
38:21
about.
38:21
I
38:21
think
38:21
it's
38:21
a
38:22
lot
38:22
scary.
38:23
Yeah.
38:24
Future
38:24
generations
38:25
having
38:25
the
38:25
trail
38:26
access
38:26
to
38:26
train.
38:27
Well,
38:27
Lisa,
38:28
thank
38:28
you
38:28
so
38:28
much
38:29
for
38:29
joining
38:29
us.
38:29
What,
38:30
are
38:30
you
38:30
going
38:30
to
38:30
plan
38:31
on
38:31
keeping
38:31
on
38:31
riding,
38:32
or
38:32
are
38:32
you
38:32
in
38:33
the
38:33
hall
38:33
of
38:33
fame
38:33
now?
38:33
You're
38:33
going
38:33
to
38:33
retire
38:34
and
38:34
put
38:34
your
38:34
feet
38:34
up?
38:35
Oh,
38:35
heck
38:36
no.
38:36
I'm
38:36
going
38:37
to
38:37
ride
38:37
till
38:37
I.
38:38
Till
38:38
I
38:38
can't.
38:39
And
38:39
my.
38:39
My
38:40
big
38:40
goal
38:40
right
38:40
now
38:41
is
38:41
to
38:41
get
38:41
decade
38:42
team
38:42
on
38:42
my
38:42
two
38:42
youngest
38:43
horses.
38:43
And
38:44
we
38:44
have
38:44
Karen
38:44
to
38:45
thank
38:45
for
38:45
that
38:45
award.
38:46
There
38:46
were
38:47
41
38:47
horses
38:48
and
38:48
riders
38:48
who
38:48
got
38:49
Dec.18
38:49
just
38:50
this
38:50
past
38:50
year
38:51
that
38:51
were
38:51
recognized
38:52
at
38:52
the
38:52
ERC
38:53
convention.
38:54
So
38:55
thank
38:55
you,
38:55
Karen.
38:56
I
38:56
love
38:56
that
38:56
award.
38:57
Yeah.
38:57
Oh,
38:58
thank
38:58
you.
38:59
Well,
38:59
Lisa,
38:59
thank
39:00
you
39:00
so
39:00
much
39:00
for
39:00
joining
39:01
us.
39:01
We
39:01
really
39:01
appreciate
39:02
it.
39:02
And
39:02
congratulations
39:03
again.
39:04
Not
39:04
too
39:04
many
39:04
people
39:05
get
39:05
to
39:05
be
39:05
in
39:05
a
39:05
hall
39:06
of
39:06
fame
39:06
of
39:06
any
39:06
kind,
39:07
so
39:07
congratulations
39:08
and
39:08
well
39:08
done.
39:09
Thank
39:09
you
39:10
so
39:10
much.
39:10
It
39:10
was
39:11
truly
39:11
an

honor.

40:49
want
40:49
to
40:49
go
40:50
over
40:50
real
40:50
quick
40:50
a
40:50
little
40:51
bit
40:51
of
40:51
your
40:51
accomplishments.
40:53
You
40:53
have
40:54
13
40:54
ride
40:55
seasons
40:55
so
40:55
far.
40:56
Trinity
40:57
has
40:57
completed
40:57
10
40:58
one
40:58
day
40:59
hundreds.
41:00
He
41:00
has
41:00
87
41:02
first
41:02
place
41:03
finishes,
41:04
85
41:05
best
41:05
conditions
41:07
7,255
41:09
miles.
41:10
He's
41:10
been
41:10
in
41:11
Arabian
41:11
Horse
41:12
association
41:13
champion,
41:13
regional
41:14
champions,
41:15
heavyweight
41:16
national
41:16
champions.
41:18
He's
41:19
19
41:19
years
41:20
old.
41:21
So
41:21
tell
41:21
us
41:22
about
41:22
Trinity.
41:23
How
41:24
did
41:24
you
41:24
get
41:25
him
41:26
and
41:27
what
41:29
qualities
41:30
did
41:30
he
41:30
possess
41:31
that
41:32
made
41:32
you
41:32
decide
41:33
to
41:33
choose
41:33
him?
41:34
What
41:34
happened
41:35
was
41:35
I
41:35
was
41:35
on
41:36
the
41:36
race
41:37
with
41:37
my
41:37
other
41:38
horse,
41:39
his
41:39
name
41:39
is
41:39
Nobody.
41:41
And
41:42
from
41:42
there,
41:43
hold
41:44
on,
41:45
the
41:45
vet
41:45
check,
41:46
a
41:46
lady
41:47
named
41:47
Michelle
41:48
saw
41:48
me
41:49
take
41:49
care
41:49
of
41:50
my
41:50
horse
41:51
and
41:51
she
41:52
selected
41:52
me
41:53
and
41:53
she
41:53
said,
41:54
I'm
41:55
gonna
41:55
give
41:55
you
41:55
a
41:55
horse.
41:56
Me
41:57
and
41:57
my
41:57
wife,
41:57
we
41:58
received
41:59
Trinity
42:00
as
42:00
a
42:00
gift.
42:01
And
42:02
when
42:03
we
42:03
got
42:03
Trinity,
42:04
he
42:04
was
42:05
in
42:06
pretty
42:07
beaten
42:08
up
42:08
shape.
42:08
You
42:08
know,
42:09
he
42:11
been
42:11
with
42:11
horses
42:12
that
42:13
been
42:13
biting
42:13
and
42:14
kicking
42:14
him.
42:15
So
42:15
he
42:15
had
42:15
sores
42:16
all
42:16
over.
42:18
He
42:19
had
42:20
a
42:20
little
42:20
pot
42:20
belly,
42:22
little
42:23
sway
42:23
back
42:24
or
42:25
very
42:25
skinny
42:26
back.
42:26
When
42:27
we
42:27
got
42:27
him,
42:27
he
42:28
showed
42:29
everything
42:30
good
42:32
and
42:33
I
42:33
immediately
42:34
start
42:34
training
42:34
him
42:36
and
42:36
he
42:37
never
42:37
opened
42:37
a
42:38
gate
42:38
before.
42:39
So
42:40
that
42:40
was
42:40
a
42:41
process
42:42
and
42:42
condition.
42:43
And
42:45
took
42:46
him
42:46
to
42:47
a
42:47
race
42:49
and
42:51
he
42:52
took
42:53
fifth
42:53
place
42:54
the
42:54
first
42:54
race
42:56
and
42:56
he
42:57
didn't
42:57
show
42:58
any
42:59
signs
42:59
of
43:00
tiredness
43:00
or
43:01
anything.
43:02
And
43:03
from
43:03
there
43:04
he
43:04
just
43:05
been
43:05
better
43:05
and
43:06
better.
43:07
He
43:08
is
43:09
a
43:09
smart
43:09
horse.
43:10
He
43:11
protect
43:11
himself.
43:12
So
43:14
if
43:14
get
43:15
tired,
43:16
he
43:16
will
43:16
slow
43:16
down
43:17
and
43:17
protect
43:17
himself.
43:18
Fantastic
43:19
horse
43:20
on
43:20
the
43:20
trail.
43:22
He
43:23
sometimes
43:23
little
43:24
stubborn
43:25
doing
43:25
things,
43:26
but
43:27
we
43:28
never
43:28
had
43:29
any
43:29
problems.
43:31
So
43:31
what
43:31
are
43:32
some
43:32
of
43:32
his
43:32
strongest
43:33
strengths?
43:35
Like
43:35
is
43:35
he
43:35
a
43:36
really
43:36
good
43:36
hill
43:36
horse?
43:38
Yeah,
43:40
he
43:40
know
43:41
where
43:41
the
43:41
competition
43:42
is
43:44
and
43:44
sometimes
43:45
he
43:45
take
43:45
advantage
43:46
of
43:46
that.
43:47
For
43:47
example,
43:48
if
43:48
could
43:48
be
43:49
in
43:50
three
43:50
or
43:50
four
43:51
place,
43:51
he
43:51
know
43:52
how
43:52
many
43:52
horses
43:52
is
43:53
ahead
43:53
of
43:53
him
43:55
and
43:55
we
43:56
could
43:56
be
43:56
far
43:57
back,
43:57
you
43:57
know.
43:58
And
43:59
if
43:59
he
43:59
decide
44:00
that
44:00
he
44:01
gonna
44:01
win,
44:02
he
44:03
will
44:03
pass
44:03
him
44:04
even
44:05
if
44:05
I
44:05
try
44:06
to
44:06
slow
44:06
him
44:06
down.
44:08
So
44:09
when
44:09
he
44:09
decided
44:10
to
44:10
go,
44:11
he
44:11
goes.
44:12
It's
44:12
actually
44:12
amazing
44:14
how
44:14
he
44:14
figured
44:14
that
44:15
out.
44:15
And
44:16
you
44:16
also
44:16
know
44:17
where
44:18
the
44:18
finish
44:18
line
44:19
is
44:19
often.
44:20
Okay.
44:20
Our
44:21
last
44:21
guest,
44:21
we
44:22
had
44:22
asked
44:22
her
44:22
about
44:23
choosing
44:24
a
44:24
horse
44:25
and
44:25
one
44:25
of
44:26
the
44:26
first
44:26
things
44:26
she
44:26
mentioned
44:27
was
44:27
about
44:29
looking
44:29
for
44:29
good
44:30
feet.
44:30
You
44:30
know
44:31
what
44:31
they
44:31
say?
44:31
No.
44:33
You
44:34
know,
44:34
no
44:35
foot,
44:35
no
44:35
horse.
44:36
So
44:36
what
44:36
do
44:36
you
44:37
have
44:37
to
44:37
say
44:37
about
44:37
Trinity's
44:39
feet
44:39
and
44:39
his
44:40
confirmation
44:41
and
44:43
that
44:44
sort
44:44
of
44:44
thing?
44:45
We
44:46
spend
44:47
when
44:47
we're
44:47
looking
44:47
at
44:48
a
44:48
horse,
44:49
including
44:49
Trinity,
44:50
we
44:51
bring
44:52
them
44:52
to
44:52
a
44:53
professional
44:54
veterinarian
44:55
to
44:55
do
44:55
X
44:56
rays
44:57
and
44:58
check
44:58
their
44:59
legs
45:00
and
45:00
feet.
45:02
We
45:02
did
45:02
that
45:02
with
45:03
Trinity
45:03
even
45:04
he
45:04
was
45:05
given
45:05
to
45:06
us.
45:06
The
45:06
veterinarian
45:07
passed
45:08
him.
45:09
His
45:09
feet
45:10
is
45:11
not
45:11
heavy.
45:13
Not
45:13
very
45:14
good
45:15
little
45:15
pancake
45:18
looking
45:18
feet,
45:20
but
45:20
the
45:21
angles,
45:21
everything
45:22
was
45:22
good.
45:23
So
45:24
with
45:25
my
45:25
wife,
45:26
she's
45:26
a
45:27
expert
45:28
trimmer.
45:28
She
45:30
do
45:31
better
45:31
than
45:31
most
45:32
professional
45:34
and
45:34
she
45:34
take
45:35
care
45:35
of
45:36
his
45:36
lower
45:37
heels
45:38
and
45:39
things.
45:40
So
45:40
we
45:41
spend
45:41
more
45:41
money
45:42
sometimes
45:43
pre
45:44
veterinarian
45:45
check
45:46
on
45:46
the
45:46
horses
45:47
than
45:47
we
45:47
spend
45:48
on
45:48
the
45:48
horse.
45:49
Congratulations
45:49
again.
45:50
It's
45:50
quite
45:50
an
45:50
achievement
45:51
to
45:51
have
45:51
a
45:51
horse
45:51
make
45:52
it
45:52
to
45:52
the
45:52
hall
45:52
of
45:52
fame
45:53
in
45:53
the
45:53
first
45:53
place.
45:54
You
45:54
must
45:54
be
45:55
proud.
45:56
I'm
45:57
very
45:57
proud.
45:59
It
45:59
should
45:59
be.
46:01
Yeah,
46:01
yeah.
46:02
Extremely
46:04
nice
46:04
to.
46:05
I
46:05
mean
46:05
that's
46:05
a
46:06
highest
46:06
award
46:07
you
46:07
could
46:07
get,
46:07
I
46:08
think.
46:08
Well,
46:09
Karen,
46:09
thanks
46:09
again
46:09
for
46:10
putting
46:10
the
46:10
show
46:10
together
46:11
today.
46:11
If
46:11
you
46:12
want
46:12
to
46:13
listen
46:13
to
46:13
past
46:13
episodes
46:14
of
46:14
the
46:15
endurance
46:15
episode,
46:16
the
46:16
endurance
46:17
show
46:17
has
46:18
its
46:18
own
46:18
feed
46:18
on
46:19
your
46:19
podcast
46:19
player
46:20
where
46:20
it's
46:20
just
46:20
the
46:21
endurance
46:21
episodes
46:21
doesn't
46:22
include
46:22
all
46:22
the
46:22
other
46:22
horses
46:23
in
46:23
the
46:23
morning
46:23
shows,
46:24
which
46:24
are
46:24
a
46:24
lot
46:24
of
46:24
them.
46:25
So
46:25
you
46:25
can
46:26
search
46:26
for
46:26
endurance
46:26
rider
46:27
on
46:27
your
46:28
podcast
46:28
feed
46:28
and
46:29
it'll
46:29
bring
46:29
up
46:29
all
46:29
the
46:30
past
46:30
episodes
46:30
and
46:30
we've
46:31
done
46:31
10
46:31
years
46:31
worth,
46:31
so
46:32
there's
46:32
a
46:32
lot
46:32
in
46:32
there,
46:33
so
46:33
definitely
46:34
go
46:34
check
46:34
that
46:34
out.
46:34
Karen,
46:35
where
46:35
can
46:35
they
46:35
follow
46:36
you?
46:37
You
46:37
can
46:37
follow
46:37
me,
46:38
Karen
46:38
Chattan.com
46:39
Very
46:40
good,
46:40
Karen.
46:40
Chattan.com
46:41
of
46:41
course,
46:41
Karen
46:42
is
46:42
here
46:42
on
46:43
the
46:43
second
46:43
Tuesday
46:44
of
46:44
every
46:44
month.
46:45
She'll
46:45
be
46:45
back
46:45
again
46:46
in
46:46
April
46:46
and
46:47
a
46:47
ride
46:47
season
46:47
will
46:47
be
46:48
really,
46:48
really
46:48
getting
46:49
underway
46:49
all
46:49
across
46:49
the
46:49
country
46:50
at
46:50
that
46:50
point.
46:51
And
46:51
I
46:51
know
46:51
some
46:51
of
46:52
you
46:52
have
46:52
been
46:52
snowed
46:52
in
46:53
and
46:53
are
46:53
just
46:54
now
46:54
getting
46:54
back
46:54
on
46:54
your
46:55
horses.
46:55
I
46:55
did
46:56
want
46:56
to
46:56
mention
46:56
that
46:57
there
46:57
is
46:57
a
46:57
virtual,
46:58
a
46:59
horse
46:59
radio
46:59
network,
47:00
virtual
47:00
Tevis
47:01
team.
47:02
We
47:02
have
47:02
had
47:03
one
47:03
in
47:03
the
47:03
last
47:03
couple
47:04
of
47:04
years
47:04
and
47:04
it's
47:04
done
47:05
pretty
47:05
well,
47:05
actually.
47:06
You
47:06
can
47:06
search
47:07
for
47:07
HRN
47:08
virtual
47:08
Tevis
47:09
on
47:09
Facebook,
47:09
it'll
47:10
come
47:10
up.
47:10
So
47:11
if
47:11
you
47:11
decide
47:11
you
47:11
want
47:11
to
47:12
join
47:12
us
47:12
on
47:12
the
47:12
team,
47:13
you
47:13
can.
47:14
And
47:14
you
47:14
just
47:14
have
47:14
to
47:15
get
47:15
your
47:15
100
47:15
miles
47:15
in.
47:16
You
47:16
can
47:16
do
47:16
it
47:16
kind
47:17
of
47:17
any
47:17
which
47:17
way.
47:18
They're
47:18
kind
47:18
of
47:18
loose
47:18
about
47:19
that.
47:19
If
47:19
you
47:19
ride
47:20
a
47:20
mile
47:20
a
47:21
day
47:21
and
47:21
could
47:21
do
47:21
it
47:21
over
47:21
100
47:22
days,
47:22
that's
47:22
great.
47:22
You
47:23
don't
47:23
have
47:23
to
47:23
do
47:23
this
47:23
all
47:23
at
47:23
one
47:24
shot.
47:24
And
47:24
we
47:25
did
47:25
pretty
47:25
well.
47:25
Although
47:26
Stacy
47:26
Westfall's
47:26
team
47:27
kills
47:27
everybody
47:27
because
47:27
she
47:28
has
47:28
like
47:28
100
47:28
members.
47:29
But,
47:29
and
47:29
I
47:30
don't
47:30
think
47:30
we're
47:30
getting
47:30
close
47:30
to
47:31
Stacy
47:31
Westfall's
47:32
team,
47:32
but
47:33
we
47:33
can
47:33
try.
47:34
So
47:35
definitely
47:35
check
47:36
that
47:36
out.
47:37
And
47:37
thank
47:38
you
47:38
to
47:38
our
47:38
sponsors,
47:39
the
47:39
Distance
47:39
Depot
47:40
and
47:40
Chewy
47:41
dot
47:41
com.
47:42
Karen,
47:43
we'll
47:43
see
47:43
you
47:43
again
47:44
next
47:44
month.
47:45
Thank
47:45
you.
47:45
Have
47:46
a
47:46
good
47:46
ride,
47:46
everybody.
