Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / Would You Consider a 3rd Party Candidate?
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: If you are voting in November coming up, I have
- 0:08Speaker 1: a question for you. Is there a chance that you
- 0:11Speaker 1: would not vote for Donald Trump and you would not
- 0:14Speaker 1: vote for Joe Biden. Is there a chance you would
- 0:16Speaker 1: vote for a third party candidate? Is there a chance
- 0:20Speaker 1: that you would vote for RFK Junior? Rfk Jor went
- 0:25Speaker 1: on CNN, and it has now gotten a lot more traction.
- 0:28Speaker 1: People are like, Wow, maybe I like RFK even more
- 0:31Speaker 1: because of the way he fought back on CNN. Now,
- 0:36Speaker 1: there was an article in The New York Times and
- 0:38Speaker 1: it said that rfk Jor could be a spoiler for
- 0:43Speaker 1: Democrats if too many Democrats defect from Joe Biden and
- 0:47Speaker 1: they go and vote for rfk Jor. Rfk Jor was
- 0:53Speaker 1: asked a question in CNN. I'm sure thought they knew
- 0:56Speaker 1: what he was going to say in response, is that
- 0:58Speaker 1: Donald Trump is obviously a massive threat to our democracy.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And he didn't take the bait, and then he fought
- 1:04Speaker 1: back with CNN, and CNN couldn't believe that he fought back.
- 1:09Speaker 1: He actually said, no, I don't think that Donald Trump
- 1:11Speaker 1: is a bigger threat to democracy. In fact, I think
- 1:14Speaker 1: President Joe Biden is the biggest threat to democracy.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Now, this made a lot of people's eyes.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Open to him. The question is was it more Republicans
- 1:25Speaker 1: or Democrats. I hope that it's not Republicans. I hope
- 1:29Speaker 1: it's democrats. But I want you to hear what he
- 1:32Speaker 1: just said, and I think there's a lot of truth
- 1:33Speaker 1: to what he said. And CNN couldn't believe that he
- 1:36Speaker 1: fought back this way and said what he actually did say,
- 1:39Speaker 1: which brings me back to the question, is there a
- 1:42Speaker 1: chance that you are going to vote for a third
- 1:44Speaker 1: party candidate.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Or do you say no? I understand to two man race,
- 1:49Speaker 2: take a listen.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Jeez.
- 1:51Speaker 4: While I admire his high minded ideals, his suggestion that
- 1:53Speaker 4: there is no difference between mister Warre and mister Bush
- 1:55Speaker 4: is irresponsible. A moment ago, you said, you essentially see
- 2:00Speaker 4: Trump and Biden is saying different different issues. But do
- 2:03Speaker 4: you really believe that when people talk about the threat
- 2:05Speaker 4: to democracy that Trump poses, do you really think that
- 2:07Speaker 4: that is an equal Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 1: But by the way, I love how they just said that, like, well,
- 2:15Speaker 1: I mean, let's they Aaron Burnett CNN Prime Time says
- 2:20Speaker 1: that is like it's just everybody agrees, given fact that
- 2:23Speaker 1: Donald Trump is a threat to democracy. Like you notice
- 2:27Speaker 1: that te up there. That isn't a real journalistic question.
- 2:30Speaker 1: That is a what we call a loaded question. It
- 2:33Speaker 1: is a straight up loaded question.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Keep listening, listen.
- 2:37Speaker 5: I can make the argument President Biden is a much
- 2:41Speaker 5: worse threat to democracy. And the reason for that is
- 2:44Speaker 5: President Biden is the first candidate in history, the first
- 2:47Speaker 5: president in the history, that has used the federal agencies
- 2:52Speaker 5: to sensor political speech. So the sensor's opponent, I you know,
- 2:55Speaker 5: I can say that because I just want a case
- 2:57Speaker 5: in the Federal Court of Appeals now before the Supreme Court.
- 3:02Speaker 5: It shows that he started censoring not just me for
- 3:05Speaker 5: thirty seven hours after he took the other office, he
- 3:07Speaker 5: was censoring me. No president in the country has ever
- 3:10Speaker 5: done that. The greatest threat democracy is not somebody who
- 3:14Speaker 5: questions election returns, but a president of the United States
- 3:17Speaker 5: who used the power of his office to force the
- 3:20Speaker 5: social media company's Facebook, Instagram, Twitter to open a portal
- 3:25Speaker 5: and give the access to that portal to the FBI.
- 3:28Speaker 5: The CIA is the irs, Desia, the NIH to censor
- 3:33Speaker 5: his political critics. As in Biden, for the first first
- 3:37Speaker 5: president of history used the secret his power over the
- 3:40Speaker 5: secret Service to deny secret Service protection to one of
- 3:44Speaker 5: his political opponents for political reasons. He's weaponizing a federal agencies.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Those are really critical threats.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Tried to overturn a free and fair election. He tried
- 3:56Speaker 4: to overturn one. Right, is he still finding court? How
- 3:59Speaker 4: is that not a threat to democracy?
- 4:03Speaker 5: Well, I think that is a threat to democracy. Him
- 4:08Speaker 5: of its we're trying to overthrow the election. Clearly is
- 4:10Speaker 5: the threat democracy. But the question was who is the
- 4:14Speaker 5: worse threat to democracy? And what I would say is,
- 4:17Speaker 5: you know, I'm not going to answer that question, but
- 4:19Speaker 5: I can argue that President Biden is because the First Amendment, Aaron,
- 4:23Speaker 5: is the most important. But Adams and Hamilton and Madison said,
- 4:28Speaker 5: we put the guarantee of freedom expression in the First
- 4:30Speaker 5: Amendment because all of our other constitutional.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Rights depend on it.
- 4:34Speaker 5: If you have a government that can silence its opponent,
- 4:38Speaker 5: it has license for any atrocity.
- 4:40Speaker 4: So, just to be clear, you're saying you could make
- 4:42Speaker 4: an argument that President Biden is a worse threat to democracy.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Then you hear what he's saying there and CNN can't
- 4:48Speaker 1: believe it that they're in shock that he didn't take
- 4:52Speaker 1: their bait the way that they thought he was supposed to.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And if you go through the list, by the way
- 4:57Speaker 1: of what he just said, it's a pretty compactit argument
- 5:01Speaker 1: that Joe Biden, even for the liberals watching, is a
- 5:05Speaker 1: bigger threat to democracy than anybody else, and including Donald
- 5:09Speaker 1: Trump right now. I also think it's hilariouspiele say that
- 5:12Speaker 1: Donald Trump is a threat to democracy right if, and
- 5:15Speaker 1: they keep saying if he wins, if he wins, if
- 5:18Speaker 1: he wins, he is the biggest threat to democracy.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I fundamentally disagree with that.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And the reason why is because he's already been president
- 5:25Speaker 1: of the United States of America and he was the
- 5:27Speaker 1: furthest thing from a threat to democracy.
- 5:30Speaker 2: He was the furthest.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Thing, furthest threat from democracy, a threat to democracy. In fact,
- 5:38Speaker 1: he was one that was holding on to democracy, keeping
- 5:42Speaker 1: up democracy. The idea that he's like a threat is absurd.
- 5:48Speaker 1: He's not a threat to democracy, and he proved it
- 5:52Speaker 1: when he was Presidents of America for four years. Four years.
- 5:57Speaker 1: He proved it four different years. He proved it not
- 6:02Speaker 1: a threat to democracy. I'm a protector of democracy. I'm
- 6:05Speaker 1: a defender of democracy. I am a champion of democracy,
- 6:12Speaker 1: not a threat to democracy. Democrats are now afraid that
- 6:18Speaker 1: Kennedy is going to take away votes, too many votes
- 6:21Speaker 1: from them, too many votes away from Joe Biden because
- 6:25Speaker 1: of some of the things he's said, including what I.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Just played for you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They didn't like what he had to say about Joe Biden.
- 6:31Speaker 1: He said that Joe Biden was a bigger threat to
- 6:32Speaker 1: democracy by silencing and censoring his opponents. He won a
- 6:38Speaker 1: case in federal court on this issue, and he says
- 6:41Speaker 1: that's a bigger threat to democracy than Donald Trump ever was.
- 6:45Speaker 1: They didn't like that, So what they do next? Immediately said, well,
- 6:47Speaker 1: hold on a second. Your family members don't even like you.
- 6:50Speaker 1: They're against you. Listen to this.
- 6:53Speaker 4: The candidacy that you're running has cost you a lot personally.
- 6:56Speaker 4: It has cost you. Siblings, family members have spoken against
- 7:00Speaker 4: what you're doing. They are angry, they're upset, they're hurt.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Your sister, Worri was on our show recently and she
- 7:06Speaker 4: spoke about it. JFK's grandson also posted on social media
- 7:09Speaker 4: overnight something I don't know if you saw it. I
- 7:10Speaker 4: wanted to play both of them.
- 7:13Speaker 6: I feel strongly that this is the most important election
- 7:16Speaker 6: of our lifetime, and I do worry that Bobby just
- 7:20Speaker 6: taking some percentage of votes from Biden could shift the
- 7:25Speaker 6: election and lead to Trump's selection.
- 7:28Speaker 3: He's training in on camelot, celebrity, conspiracy theories, and conflict
- 7:33Speaker 3: for personal gain and fame. I've listened to him, I
- 7:38Speaker 3: know him. I have no idea why anyone thinks he
- 7:43Speaker 3: should be president. What I do know is his candidacy
- 7:47Speaker 3: is an embarrassment.
- 7:49Speaker 4: That's your family. That's your family. Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 5: I have a big family, about one hundred and five
- 7:54Speaker 5: cousins on the last time, and I have siblings who
- 8:00Speaker 5: are supporting me. I have I have. I have cousins
- 8:05Speaker 5: and nephews and nieces who are working in my campaign.
- 8:09Speaker 5: My campaign is being run by my daughter in law,
- 8:12Speaker 5: you know by are. The political party that we started
- 8:15Speaker 5: is shared by my cousin, Anthony Shriver. Listen, Oh, I
- 8:19Speaker 5: have a big family. I don't know anybody in America
- 8:21Speaker 5: who's got a family who agrees with them on everything.
- 8:24Speaker 5: I don't know if that's your situation, Aaron, if you
- 8:26Speaker 5: just have a family who believes everything you do is
- 8:29Speaker 5: you know, like unicorns and rainbows. But uh, for you know,
- 8:34Speaker 5: I would I come from a family from a milliu
- 8:38Speaker 5: where we came home at night and ate dinner with
- 8:41Speaker 5: my father, and he would orchestrate debates between us, and
- 8:44Speaker 5: we were in the same way that his father did
- 8:46Speaker 5: with him, and we could disagree on issues, and we
- 8:50Speaker 5: could disagree with passion and information, but we still love
- 8:53Speaker 5: each other. And I love Rory, I love my family.
- 8:56Speaker 5: I feel loved by them. Listen, I understand why they
- 8:59Speaker 5: don't like running. I understand. President Biden has been a
- 9:02Speaker 5: forty year friend to me and my family. He is
- 9:06Speaker 5: a bust of my father. Behind him on the Oval office.
- 9:09Speaker 5: He talked about how my father inspired him to enter politics.
- 9:12Speaker 5: There's five members of my family who work for the
- 9:15Speaker 5: Biden administration, So you know, I understand why they're dismayed
- 9:20Speaker 5: that I'm running against them. They're also worried that, you
- 9:23Speaker 5: know what my sister said that you know my candidates,
- 9:25Speaker 5: he may get Trump elected.
- 9:27Speaker 4: What it does, what happens if you wake up the
- 9:29Speaker 4: day after the election, we have results, and that is
- 9:32Speaker 4: what happened, Well, will you regret it?
- 9:34Speaker 5: What I what I said to you applies to that.
- 9:39Speaker 5: I don't think either a President Trump or a president
- 9:41Speaker 5: but are going to solve the death crisis in this country,
- 9:44Speaker 5: which is existential. I don't think either of them are
- 9:47Speaker 5: going to get us out of foreign wars.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I love how scared they are right now. And again
- 9:52Speaker 1: I will continue to remind you, okay, I will continue
- 10:00Speaker 1: to remind you this guy is not a conservative, and
- 10:03Speaker 1: they're going to try to turn him into some sort
- 10:05Speaker 1: of conservative.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And why is the media trying to do this?
- 10:07Speaker 1: And you can tell in that interview like they're terrified
- 10:10Speaker 1: that they're gonna he's gonna take more votes from Biden
- 10:13Speaker 1: than he's going to take from Trump. And they've they've
- 10:17Speaker 1: witnessed this, they saw how Ross Parrot Ross Parrot. A
- 10:20Speaker 1: lot of people don't know the history. Ross Parrot hated
- 10:22Speaker 1: George Bush forty one over a land deal. It was
- 10:26Speaker 1: a land deal that went bad. A land deal, folks,
- 10:29Speaker 1: a land deal, and he said, you know what I'm
- 10:31Speaker 1: not I don't. I don't think Ross pro actually wanted
- 10:34Speaker 1: to be president at all. I think he just wanted
- 10:36Speaker 1: to cost and he could do it, and he had
- 10:39Speaker 1: the money to do it. He wanted to cost George
- 10:41Speaker 1: Bush forty one the presidency. That was the ultimate middle finger,
- 10:45Speaker 1: the ultimate fu and he did it. He cost in
- 10:49Speaker 1: the presidency by running as a third party candidate, and
- 10:54Speaker 1: Bill Clinton would have never been president if it wasn't
- 10:57Speaker 1: for Ross Parrot. And Ross Parrot knew exactly what he
- 11:00Speaker 1: was doing. You noticed Ross pro didn't even like, you know,
- 11:03Speaker 1: wasn't trying to be famous, didn't want to be famous,
- 11:07Speaker 1: per se. Like when he got done running, did you
- 11:09Speaker 1: ever notice what happened when he got done running? He
- 11:12Speaker 1: was done, folks, Like when he got he wasn't out
- 11:16Speaker 1: there pontificating on politics.
- 11:18Speaker 2: After he was done.
- 11:19Speaker 1: He had cost somebody he hated, personally George Bush forty one,
- 11:23Speaker 1: the presidency and the Democratic Party remembers that spoilers can
- 11:28Speaker 1: change who wins. And so they're like, all right, what
- 11:32Speaker 1: do we do here? Okay, Like, like, what what do
- 11:37Speaker 1: we do here? How does this work? Is he gonna
- 11:42Speaker 1: cost Joe Biden the election? Is he going to take
- 11:45Speaker 1: votes away from Joe Biden? That's the big question they're asking.
- 11:51Speaker 1: RFK Junior now doing a big media tour pushing for
- 11:56Speaker 1: his candidacy for the White House. And I I said
- 12:00Speaker 1: this the other day on Fox News Channel when I
- 12:03Speaker 1: was hosting out Numbered, that look, I want to make
- 12:05Speaker 1: sure that Republicans aren't bamboozled by RFK.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I want to make sure people know who he.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Is, that he's a radical leftist who is actually, I
- 12:15Speaker 1: think more extreme in his positions than Joe Biden.
- 12:20Speaker 2: And that's saying something.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Early on, there were people that I think thought that
- 12:24Speaker 1: RFK was a conservative because of his stance on COVID
- 12:29Speaker 1: vaccines and his stands on vaccines and mandates was one
- 12:33Speaker 1: that we could agree on. But the rest of his
- 12:35Speaker 1: policies are radical. How radical is RFK? I'll give you
- 12:39Speaker 1: an example. He believes the government should subsidize all housing
- 12:43Speaker 1: in this country, which would be the largest expansion in
- 12:46Speaker 1: government history. So if your interest rate is over three percent,
- 12:49Speaker 1: he believes that the government should pick up the rest
- 12:52Speaker 1: of the percentage. So if you close on a house
- 12:55Speaker 1: and the interest rates at eight percent or nine percent
- 12:58Speaker 1: because you have bad credit, or ten percent or rates
- 13:01Speaker 1: just keep going up, he believes that you should actually
- 13:05Speaker 1: be subsidized by the federal government for thirty years on
- 13:09Speaker 1: that loan and that you should pay no more than
- 13:11Speaker 1: three percent. Now, this is a socialist's idea, it's communists mentality.
- 13:19Speaker 1: He also wrote an article where he believes that you
- 13:21Speaker 1: should go to jail if.
- 13:23Speaker 2: You're a climate denier.
- 13:25Speaker 1: The article talked about if you're a climate denier because
- 13:28Speaker 1: he's a massive advocate, and a lot of people don't
- 13:30Speaker 1: understand this about him. He is a massive advocate for
- 13:34Speaker 1: the Green New Deal. He believes that there should be
- 13:36Speaker 1: straight up mandates and hardcore mandates, mandates that make it
- 13:43Speaker 1: impossible for this country to work without putting the climate first.
- 13:49Speaker 1: It would decimate American jobs, a job market, it would
- 13:53Speaker 1: it would decimate American manufacturing, and it's unrealistic for the
- 13:57Speaker 1: fact that the rest of the world's not going to
- 13:58Speaker 1: go along with this. But he doesn't care because it's
- 14:00Speaker 1: a religion to him. But he actually wrote an article
- 14:03Speaker 1: where he was advocating for arresting climate deniers. That is
- 14:09Speaker 1: an extremist viewpoint. He's very much in favor of bail
- 14:14Speaker 1: and prison reform. He thinks that we have too many
- 14:16Speaker 1: Americans that are locked up, and he thinks that we
- 14:18Speaker 1: should let people out of jail in mass numbers.
- 14:21Speaker 2: That is who RFK is.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Now, I remind you of that, just to kind of
- 14:27Speaker 1: put it in perspective for you that RFK is not
- 14:32Speaker 1: a conservative. Now, he again said some things during COVID
- 14:37Speaker 1: that people agreed with, But that doesn't mean that you
- 14:39Speaker 1: are a conservative. And I don't want any conservatives to
- 14:43Speaker 1: get bamboozled over this. That's the point I want the
- 14:47Speaker 1: takeaway here. Now, The question is what is he going
- 14:52Speaker 1: to do as he's running. Is he going to go
- 14:53Speaker 1: to the left or is he going to go the right?
- 14:55Speaker 1: And where's he going to try to pick up votes?
- 14:57Speaker 1: From what we're seeing so far, is he's actually going
- 15:02Speaker 1: to the left now because I think he understands that
- 15:05Speaker 1: the right has figured out he's not a conservative. And
- 15:08Speaker 1: if you know he's not a conservative, then all right,
- 15:11Speaker 1: well then be what you are, right, be a lefty.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Well. RFK Junior has now come out in an interview with.
- 15:18Speaker 1: CNN last night and said that Biden is a bigger
- 15:23Speaker 1: threat to democracy than Donald Trump. But I want you
- 15:28Speaker 1: to listen carefully to what he says because and then
- 15:30Speaker 1: we'll we'll dissect this on the other side. But again
- 15:33Speaker 1: RFK jor is responding to demon GOP attacks and he's
- 15:38Speaker 1: a spoiler saying, well, hold on a second, Biden is
- 15:41Speaker 1: a bigger threat to democracy than Trump.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Does that sound like a conservative liberal position?
- 15:46Speaker 5: Obviously conservative President Biden is much worse threat to democracy,
- 15:51Speaker 5: and the reason for that is President Biden is the
- 15:55Speaker 5: first candidate in history, the first president in history that
- 15:59Speaker 5: has you use the federal agencies to censor political speech.
- 16:03Speaker 5: So the censor's opponent, I, you know, I can say
- 16:05Speaker 5: that because I just want a case in the Federal
- 16:07Speaker 5: Court of Appeals and now before the Supreme Court. It
- 16:11Speaker 5: shows that he started censoring not just me. For thirty
- 16:14Speaker 5: seven hours after he took the office, he was censoring me.
- 16:17Speaker 5: No president in the country has ever done that. The
- 16:19Speaker 5: greatest threat democracy is not somebody who questions election returns,
- 16:24Speaker 5: but a president of United States. He used the power
- 16:27Speaker 5: of his office to force the social media companies Facebook, Instagram,
- 16:32Speaker 5: Twitter to open a portal and give the access to
- 16:35Speaker 5: that portal to the FBI, to the CIA, the IRS, Decisa,
- 16:40Speaker 5: to NIH to censor his political critics. As in Biden
- 16:45Speaker 5: for the first first president history to use the secret
- 16:48Speaker 5: his power over the Secret Service to deny Secret Service
- 16:52Speaker 5: protection to one of his political opponents for political reasons.
- 16:56Speaker 5: He's weaponizing the federal agencies. Those are real critical threats.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Theocrats tried to overturn a free and fair election. He
- 17:05Speaker 4: tried to overturn one right, is he still finding how
- 17:08Speaker 4: is that not a threat to democracy?
- 17:12Speaker 5: Well, I think that is a threat to democracy. If
- 17:16Speaker 5: him over trying to overthrow the election, clearly is the
- 17:19Speaker 5: threat democracy. But the question was who is the worse
- 17:23Speaker 5: threat to democracy? And what I would say is, you know,
- 17:26Speaker 5: I'm not going to answer that question, but I can
- 17:28Speaker 5: argue that President Biden is because the First Amendment, Aaron
- 17:32Speaker 5: is the most important. But Adams and Hamilton and Madison said,
- 17:37Speaker 5: we put the guarantee of freedom of expression in the
- 17:39Speaker 5: First Amendment because all of our other constitutional rights depend
- 17:42Speaker 5: on it. If you have a government that can silence
- 17:45Speaker 5: its opponent, it has license for any atrocity.
- 17:49Speaker 4: So, just to be clear, you're saying you could make
- 17:50Speaker 4: an argument that President Biden is a worse threat to
- 17:52Speaker 4: democracy than absolutely.
- 17:55Speaker 5: But who else has ever tried to who else has
- 17:57Speaker 5: ever tried to sent what president in history has ever
- 18:01Speaker 5: tried to censor political opponents? What president has weaponized federal
- 18:06Speaker 5: You know, when my father came into the Justice Department.
- 18:09Speaker 5: The first week he was there, he got all of
- 18:12Speaker 5: the branch and division attorneys together and he said, whatever
- 18:15Speaker 5: we do, we are not going to use the power
- 18:17Speaker 5: of the Justice Department for political reason you're having.
- 18:20Speaker 2: He said, that ishension, and.
- 18:23Speaker 4: He is the only president who's tried to overthrow the
- 18:27Speaker 4: results of an election.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Well, you know, let me let me say something about it.
- 18:31Speaker 5: I'm not going to defend President Trump on that. That
- 18:34Speaker 5: was appalling.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Now you notice CNN they're frustrated because they don't know
- 18:40Speaker 1: what to do with him, right, They don't, And so
- 18:45Speaker 1: they went from that right because they didn't like his
- 18:48Speaker 1: response to then this question, they said, well, hold on
- 18:52Speaker 1: a second, your own family doesn't even like what you're doing.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Your own family is not porting the way that you're
- 19:01Speaker 1: running right now. So again they're worried about RFK and
- 19:07Speaker 1: they don't know if they're worried about him because he's
- 19:09Speaker 1: a Republican or he's a Democrat. Are trying to act
- 19:12Speaker 1: like one or the other. I'm going to play for
- 19:14Speaker 1: you next when they then go after him and say, well, look,
- 19:17Speaker 1: your own family even says don't trust you. Your own
- 19:20Speaker 1: family's not supporting your run. Here, what is extremism now
- 19:25Speaker 1: to the left, it's apparently traditional family values.
- 19:29Speaker 2: That's what it is.
- 19:31Speaker 1: If you believe in not allowing people to turn boys
- 19:35Speaker 1: into little girls and at young ages, right, like the
- 19:41Speaker 1: extremism of that. If you believe in the ability to
- 19:48Speaker 1: protect the lives of unborn children that shouldn't be butchered
- 19:53Speaker 1: with partial births, abortion and things like that, apparently you're
- 19:57Speaker 1: now an extremist. If you believe and parental rights and
- 20:02Speaker 1: the state not having control of your kids to indoctrinate
- 20:04Speaker 1: your children, apparently you're an extremist.
- 20:07Speaker 2: That's right, you are an extremist. That's where we are.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And she says that standing up for conservative ideals and
- 20:16Speaker 1: values now makes you an extremist.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I guess, like you're a Ghattis terrorist. I'm guessing. Okay,
- 20:21Speaker 2: I'm guessing.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I want you to hear what Simone Sanders said again
- 20:24Speaker 1: a moment ago MSNBC this morning, saying, given the extremism
- 20:28Speaker 1: we're seeing, there's a real path for Biden to actually
- 20:31Speaker 1: win Florida.
- 20:33Speaker 6: Okay.
- 20:34Speaker 7: Interesting, I'm going to go from gen to Simone, from
- 20:37Speaker 7: Michigan to Florida, and then de Heilman about both those states.
- 20:40Speaker 7: But Simone, what happened in Florida yesterday. It sort of
- 20:43Speaker 7: feels like good news, bad news, but really big bad
- 20:47Speaker 7: news first, because in the next few months it's going
- 20:51Speaker 7: to be unimaginable what women in Florida will have to face,
- 20:54Speaker 7: especially if a six week fan goes into effect as
- 20:57Speaker 7: is expected. And are those stories then going to fuel
- 21:02Speaker 7: I think the drive to turn the state blue in November.
- 21:07Speaker 8: As you said. As you said, turning the state blue,
- 21:09Speaker 8: Jonathan Lemire said, because yes, everyone feels that Florida is
- 21:14Speaker 8: not a blue or a blue place. Really it used
- 21:17Speaker 8: to be purple. Increasingly it has become red. But in
- 21:19Speaker 8: the last couple of cycles, particularly, I'm thinking about the
- 21:22Speaker 8: special election, the runoff election in Jacksonville, Florida for mayor,
- 21:26Speaker 8: where for the first time in ever, a woman is
- 21:30Speaker 8: the mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, Mayor Donna Degan, and she's
- 21:33Speaker 8: only the second Democrat to lead that city in thirty years.
- 21:37Speaker 8: Abortion was a part of that story. Democrats in Florida
- 21:41Speaker 8: have been organizing, Mika, and because of that organizing, I
- 21:45Speaker 8: think they are seeing gains.
- 21:46Speaker 2: What the Florida.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Supreme Court did yesterday they ruled in favor of the
- 21:50Speaker 8: fifteen week abortion ban. And last year when the Republican
- 21:53Speaker 8: legislators in Florida passed that six week abortion ban, and
- 21:57Speaker 8: they passed it because people were coming to Florida to
- 21:59Speaker 8: get a bortions because it was one of the only
- 22:02Speaker 8: places left in the Southeast where you could get an
- 22:05Speaker 8: abortion if that is what you needed, that was the
- 22:07Speaker 8: care that you needed. Well, Ronda Santras didn't like that,
- 22:10Speaker 8: and so he pressured the legislature to pass an even
- 22:13Speaker 8: stricter abortion ban, and they wrote in that provision that
- 22:16Speaker 8: win there if the Supreme Court ruled in favor of
- 22:18Speaker 8: the fifteen week, the sixteenth, the sixth week would automatically
- 22:21Speaker 8: go into effect. And that's where we had this thirty days.
- 22:24Speaker 8: And so Democrats, and I just read this in punchbol
- 22:27Speaker 8: News before I came on, are launching, particularly in Florida
- 22:30Speaker 8: today their field hearings House Democrats. House Democratic Leader Hakim
- 22:35Speaker 8: Jeffries is down there with a host of Democrats Florida
- 22:38Speaker 8: Democrats like Debbie Washerman Sults, but also folks like Barbara Lee,
- 22:41Speaker 8: who has been a reproductive rights champion for a long time.
- 22:45Speaker 8: And this is the part of a six month campaign.
- 22:47Speaker 8: House Democrats are saying to really make Florida ground zero
- 22:51Speaker 8: for the reproductive rights right fight and reproductive freedom. And
- 22:55Speaker 8: you couple that with the Biden ad. Democrats definitely think
- 22:59Speaker 8: that Florida. There's a path of them in Florida. And
- 23:02Speaker 8: I don't think they're wrong given the extremism that was seeing.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Extremism protecting children being butchered is now extremism. Extremism, Okay,
- 23:14Speaker 1: extremism that is that is extremism. I don't believe that
- 23:20Speaker 1: Democrats are going to win on this.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I just don't.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I understand that get some women voters fired up doing
- 23:28Speaker 1: the right thing can irritate people on the other side.
- 23:33Speaker 2: That's the truth.
- 23:34Speaker 1: They had another extremists Democrat on talking about this abortion
- 23:38Speaker 1: issue saying this about what Florida is.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Doing, stremism that was seeing, well.
- 23:44Speaker 7: Thanks to Donald Trump, and he does take the credit
- 23:46Speaker 7: for the overturning of Roe and all the different things
- 23:50Speaker 7: that have happened as ripple effects to that momentous decision
- 23:54Speaker 7: taking away fifty years of rights. And I just want
- 23:58Speaker 7: to point out, as we turn to John Hammon on
- 24:00Speaker 7: all of this, you know, the far right and Trump
- 24:04Speaker 7: Republicans and abortion right to life activists, they've poisoned the
- 24:11Speaker 7: word abortion. They make it sound like some sort of
- 24:14Speaker 7: crime by some sort of lazy woman who is immoral.
- 24:21Speaker 7: The hypocrisy is incredible, But I won't digress. You don't
- 24:25Speaker 7: want me to do that. At the same time, I
- 24:28Speaker 7: think that democrats need to be smart with their words.
- 24:31Speaker 7: I would take the word life. I would take the
- 24:35Speaker 7: word life, life of the mother. Especially with the cases
- 24:41Speaker 7: of unviable pregnancies, we see mothers lives at risk, right
- 24:47Speaker 7: to have life IVF, right to have a family. I
- 24:52Speaker 7: would take their word, and I would tell them what
- 24:56Speaker 7: to do with it. But it's abortion healthcare. It is
- 25:00Speaker 7: this part of our normal health care that needs to
- 25:03Speaker 7: get out there.
- 25:04Speaker 2: But by the way, I love how they frame this.
- 25:06Speaker 1: It's normal health care. You hear that, it's normal health care.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Just so you know what the Forida law says. The
- 25:13Speaker 1: Forida law says if the mother's life is in danger,
- 25:15Speaker 1: you can have the abortion. Doesn't say you can't. So
- 25:18Speaker 1: they're just straight up lying to you. And if they're
- 25:20Speaker 1: willing to lie to you about that, what else are
- 25:22Speaker 1: they going to lie to you about. They're willing to
- 25:24Speaker 1: lie to you about that. My other question is are
- 25:27Speaker 1: they lying to you about the actual issue of abortion? Like,
- 25:31Speaker 1: are they lying to you about the actual issue of abortion?
- 25:34Speaker 1: I would argue yes, they are. They are arguing they
- 25:37Speaker 1: are lying to you about the actual issue of abortion.
- 25:40Speaker 2: And they sit there.
- 25:41Speaker 1: And they tell you, no, no, no, you don't understand. This
- 25:43Speaker 1: is about the life of the mother. The life of
- 25:45Speaker 1: the mother is already protected. This is propaganda. Bad news
- 25:49Speaker 1: for women in Florida. Not if you're a female in
- 25:52Speaker 1: the womb, it's good news for you. That's great news
- 25:55Speaker 1: for future women of Florida. Keep listening.
- 25:57Speaker 7: That message needs to be said to Democrats and Republicans
- 26:01Speaker 7: who will vote on this issue because it affects their
- 26:05Speaker 7: everyday life. So John Hellman Michigan and.
- 26:08Speaker 9: Florida, go well, I Meanca, first of all, I think
- 26:11Speaker 9: that the message that you're putting forward there as is
- 26:15Speaker 9: that that's out there. I think there are a lot
- 26:16Speaker 9: of Democrats who are hearing that message. And we've seen
- 26:18Speaker 9: that obviously over the course of everything in that post
- 26:21Speaker 9: the period of post ops politics. And you know, just
- 26:24Speaker 9: to re emphasize in Florida, which I think is the
- 26:26Speaker 9: more well Florida is our new is the news year.
- 26:29Speaker 9: So I'll try to do that one first. Uh, you know,
- 26:31Speaker 9: Florida is the emphasise the human cost of this and
- 26:35Speaker 9: you said the good news bad news. Obviously, this decisions
- 26:39Speaker 9: yesterday is bad news for women in Florida, bad news
- 26:42Speaker 9: for everybody who loves women in Florida, bad news for
- 26:45Speaker 9: women's healthcare in Florida, at least for the time being.
- 26:49Speaker 9: As a political matter, I'm here, sitting here. I got
- 26:52Speaker 9: Simone Sanders on one side. I got Lamiro over on
- 26:54Speaker 9: the other side. Let's just let's put it this way.
- 26:58Speaker 9: You know, Florida is a state that that Broughck Obama
- 27:00Speaker 9: won twice. Hillary Clinton lost it by I think a
- 27:03Speaker 9: point and a half or so in twenty sixteen, and
- 27:06Speaker 9: Joe Biden lost it about double that amount, about three
- 27:09Speaker 9: points something three and a half points or something into
- 27:11Speaker 9: in twenty twenty, Trump increased his margin there.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Why did that happen.
- 27:16Speaker 9: It happened almost entirely for one reason, which was the
- 27:19Speaker 9: Hispanic vote in Florida, where Donald Trump did overperformed anybody's
- 27:24Speaker 9: expectations in Florida in twenty twenty. What's happened with Latino
- 27:27Speaker 9: votes over the course of the last three years, Trump has,
- 27:31Speaker 9: by all pulling that we have, has gotten stronger with
- 27:34Speaker 9: Hispanics than he was three years ago. This is why
- 27:38Speaker 9: people like John Lamir and a lot of people in
- 27:40Speaker 9: the Biden campaign look at Florida, have looked at Florida
- 27:42Speaker 9: and said, until this day, have looked at Florida and said,
- 27:45Speaker 9: that's not a battleground state anymore. That's not in the
- 27:47Speaker 9: six or seven states that are going to swing the election.
- 27:51Speaker 9: The big caveat to that is this Dobbs, this post
- 27:54Speaker 9: Dobbs era and an injecting abortion into the debate in Florida.
- 27:59Speaker 9: It is going to change things in Florida. It is
- 28:01Speaker 9: going to bring out new kind of democratic energy, at
- 28:04Speaker 9: least if we judge it on the base of everything
- 28:05Speaker 9: else we've seen post Dobbs. The question I think is
- 28:08Speaker 9: where are we going to be when we get to September.
- 28:12Speaker 9: And I don't think you can say right now that
- 28:15Speaker 9: there's anybody who is telling the truth in the Biden
- 28:17Speaker 9: campaign who says that they are convinced today that Florida
- 28:20Speaker 9: is now state they're going to go spend money in,
- 28:22Speaker 9: They're going to try to turn that into a battleground state.
- 28:24Speaker 9: There's just too much data that suggests that it might
- 28:27Speaker 9: be out of reach. But I do think that if
- 28:29Speaker 9: we get to September and that race looks and things
- 28:32Speaker 9: have tightened, there to the point where it does look winnable,
- 28:35Speaker 9: you may see that become a reach state for the
- 28:37Speaker 9: Biden campaign, and that would obviously alter the whole calculus
- 28:40Speaker 9: the election. If Florida became a thing that was within
- 28:43Speaker 9: reach for Joe Biden, it would change the whole trajectory,
- 28:47Speaker 9: change the whole battle, the whole Battogrand matrix for the race,
- 28:49Speaker 9: because you really would go from not just six or
- 28:51Speaker 9: seven states, but you'd have this additional state with a
- 28:55Speaker 9: giant number of electoral votes suddenly in play. I were
- 28:57Speaker 9: right now sitting here today. I'm not going to bet
- 28:59Speaker 9: on that, but I'm certain the Biden get paid is
- 29:01Speaker 9: going to push at it over the course of the
- 29:03Speaker 9: next few months to see if they can nudge it
- 29:05Speaker 9: into that vicinity.
- 29:07Speaker 2: By the way, I love this guy.
- 29:09Speaker 1: He's like a hardcore lefty, but he's like, I'm not
- 29:10Speaker 1: gonna look like an idiot on national TV. And he
- 29:13Speaker 1: just basically said to them, like, Hey, what you're saying
- 29:16Speaker 1: probably not gonna happen. Like, hey, what you're describing, probably
- 29:20Speaker 1: not gonna happen.
- 29:21Speaker 2: What you're telling.
- 29:22Speaker 1: People is like that this is in play and that
- 29:25Speaker 1: this is a real chance. Yeah, probably not right like
- 29:29Speaker 1: probably not, probably not, probably not gonna happen. Yeah, because
- 29:33Speaker 1: it's not gonna happen. It's Florida, and the women in
- 29:36Speaker 1: Florida are I guess, smarter than the women at MSNBC,
- 29:40Speaker 1: which it's not hard to do. It's not really even
- 29:42Speaker 1: a compliment. But this we're gonna turn Florida and women
- 29:47Speaker 1: are going to be angry in Florida. I don't believe it.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I think the majority of women are actually in favor
- 29:54Speaker 1: of choosing life. They're in favor of choosing life. As always,
