- 2:21Speaker 1: women of color. I have six sisters. I know she
- 2:24Speaker 1: knows today is She is the editor at large for
- 2:27Speaker 1: Essence Magazine, a monthly lifetile lifestyle magazine covering the fashion, beauty, entertainment,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and culture, and president of Mickey Taylor Enterprises, LLC, a
- 2:38Speaker 1: strategic branding, consulting and communication company. Please walk on to
- 2:41Speaker 1: money making conversation again, my friend Micky Taylor, Good morning.
- 2:48Speaker 1: How are you. I'm doing it? Dog good? You know
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know who are you motivating these days? Miss Taylor?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Because you're good. You know, I am motivating everybody who's
- 3:00Speaker 1: ready to make what I call a leadershift and coming
- 3:04Speaker 1: through and out of this crisis. So the audiences global
- 3:07Speaker 1: these days. Certainly it's my target audiences women of color.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Happy to say that I've still continue to be their
- 3:14Speaker 1: most trusted authority. But you know we're reaching multi generational women, uh,
- 3:19Speaker 1: reaching a few good men, as I like to say,
- 3:22Speaker 1: an audiences worldwide. But yeah, it's um, it's an exciting
- 3:28Speaker 1: time and I will tell you, um, one of the
- 3:31Speaker 1: things that I'm telling audiences everywhere, especially now that I'm
- 3:34Speaker 1: talking through them through technology, is that this moment is
- 3:38Speaker 1: pregnant with opportunity, painting it with opportunity, and if you
- 3:42Speaker 1: labor right, You're gonna give birth to some amazing success business.
- 3:47Speaker 1: She's been important role model for me for partner and
- 3:50Speaker 1: changing lives, and for and mentoring camps for young men
- 3:54Speaker 1: and young women if we've been participating as as together
- 3:57Speaker 1: over the years, but more importantly being a voice of authority.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You know, we always need authority, and you know our
- 4:04Speaker 1: parents are are a sense of authority, but when you
- 4:07Speaker 1: get home, you need somebody else that can mentor you
- 4:09Speaker 1: and guide you. And that's been a role you played
- 4:12Speaker 1: and you champion for many years. Mickey Taylor. You are
- 4:15Speaker 1: a mentor that just honored, honored to serve, an umble
- 4:21Speaker 1: to share. And that's really important because I've seen your
- 4:26Speaker 1: stage at the Disney Dreamers and and your articulation and
- 4:30Speaker 1: being able to just look women in their eyes and
- 4:32Speaker 1: walk away. Do you have a sense of responsibility for
- 4:36Speaker 1: being able to communicate those those values to to to
- 4:40Speaker 1: not only just women of color. Because I've seen you
- 4:42Speaker 1: and diverse audiences, and your message does not change. Your
- 4:45Speaker 1: message is very universal and as received worldwide. But that's
- 4:49Speaker 1: a sense of responsibility. Did you have to consistently uphold
- 4:52Speaker 1: every time you speak it, write it, and tell it.
- 4:56Speaker 1: M It is absolutely a form of responsibility. And I
- 5:01Speaker 1: also consider the divine assignment and and you know, my
- 5:05Speaker 1: goal is to show up ready for that every day.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I have an opportunity to get up every day and
- 5:11Speaker 1: go to work on behalf of women, and I take
- 5:14Speaker 1: great pride in that. Um. You know, one of the
- 5:17Speaker 1: things that the Seed of Understanding and all of my
- 5:21Speaker 1: books is that I want women to celebrate their beauty,
- 5:24Speaker 1: to certainly own their lives, and to also massive their
- 5:28Speaker 1: purpose with distinction. And a lot of that has has
- 5:31Speaker 1: everything to do with how you live your life, how
- 5:34Speaker 1: you show up again, how you balance your personal and
- 5:37Speaker 1: professional power. And one of the things I've been talking
- 5:39Speaker 1: to UH two women about in this uh COVID crisis,
- 5:44Speaker 1: if you will, is that this is not a staycation
- 5:47Speaker 1: that you just like you gotta keep your pencil sharp,
- 5:49Speaker 1: if you're still writing, your hand, got to keep your
- 5:52Speaker 1: mind sharp, if you're still activating your vision. You gotta
- 5:55Speaker 1: keep your beauty sharp. Uh, this is not a staycation
- 5:58Speaker 1: for your skin. You gotta take expert care of your skin.
- 6:00Speaker 1: You gotta take care of your temple. You gotta keep
- 6:03Speaker 1: your spiritual muscle built up and fine tuned. And so yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I do take that as a responsibility. I'm that reminder that. Yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm not reminder. I'm not girlfen in your head. I'm
- 6:15Speaker 1: part of what I talked about in my latest book,
- 6:18Speaker 1: Editor and Chic. I'm part of your celebration circle. I'm
- 6:21Speaker 1: here to push, polish and check you so that you
- 6:24Speaker 1: remain at your best, so that you are are always
- 6:28Speaker 1: becoming as Michelle Obama would saying that you don't get
- 6:31Speaker 1: comfortable in any chair, that you don't let fear paralyze
- 6:35Speaker 1: you into not taking care of yourself and and knowing
- 6:39Speaker 1: your value. So yeah, it's definitely a form of responsibility.
- 6:44Speaker 1: It is a divine accountability, and it is something that
- 6:47Speaker 1: I must do every day that I rise. There you
- 6:51Speaker 1: go see right there, See that was a Mickey Taylor moment.
- 6:53Speaker 1: If you if you have right there there, right there,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I can I can cut that clip out right there.
- 6:58Speaker 1: See that's what I see what I've looked on stage
- 7:00Speaker 1: and being in all all my life. When she gets
- 7:03Speaker 1: in the zone, that was a Mickey Taylor zone right there,
- 7:06Speaker 1: because she articulated it was that. It was that Maya
- 7:09Speaker 1: Angelou I rise moment. That's the that's the blessing, or
- 7:17Speaker 1: when I when I listened to you, Because no matter
- 7:20Speaker 1: how smart you think you are, you have to open
- 7:23Speaker 1: yourself up for knowledge. And I will tell you every
- 7:26Speaker 1: time I talk to you, every time I interview, there's
- 7:29Speaker 1: so much knowledge that you drop on me, and you
- 7:32Speaker 1: humble me by allowing me to understand that there's so
- 7:35Speaker 1: much more I can do. There's so much more I
- 7:37Speaker 1: can learn. And that's why it's important that your story
- 7:41Speaker 1: that you tell, that you articulate, has to be told
- 7:44Speaker 1: on a consistent basis. And that's what you do every
- 7:47Speaker 1: time you open your mouth. That's what you just did
- 7:49Speaker 1: on my show right there, And I want to thank you.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Interview is not over, but I just want to take
- 7:53Speaker 1: time right now and thank you for that moment right there.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Nick Table. Now let's talk about because you kind of
- 8:00Speaker 1: brought it up right their little skin care and makeup
- 8:03Speaker 1: and the stay cation all that, and let's talk about
- 8:06Speaker 1: five products will slow it down. You know, those times,
- 8:09Speaker 1: the beauty time. You know five products you need to
- 8:12Speaker 1: perfect your perfect your complexion. And so you know, it's
- 8:15Speaker 1: really interesting because my skin, I'm an only based skin
- 8:19Speaker 1: and very early on and for some reason I just
- 8:22Speaker 1: figured out how to use cold water and warm water
- 8:25Speaker 1: to wash my face and all to get to get
- 8:28Speaker 1: the dirt out of my pores. I kind of figured
- 8:30Speaker 1: that out. But a lot of people have not figured
- 8:32Speaker 1: that out, and they still deal with a lot of
- 8:34Speaker 1: complexion issues. Talk about the five products you need to
- 8:37Speaker 1: perfect your complexion. It's finally here, the season of celebration,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,

- 10:33Speaker 1: That's O. T T E R. Dot Ai. Well, one
- 10:37Speaker 1: of the things that I always say, you want to
- 10:39Speaker 1: know the skin you're in. You don't want to shop
- 10:41Speaker 1: the headlines, you don't want to shop the trends. You
- 10:43Speaker 1: want to shop what your skin needs to be at
- 10:46Speaker 1: its best. And that begins with a gentle but effective
- 10:49Speaker 1: cleanser that will address your skin type, whether you're oily,
- 10:53Speaker 1: whether you're combination oily and dry, whether you're sensitive, what
- 10:56Speaker 1: have you. What does your skin need to not be
- 11:00Speaker 1: in what I call an upset position where yeah, yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: that's absolutely right. Uh. Then the second thing is, you
- 11:09Speaker 1: know you need an exfoliate. Past the age of fifteen,
- 11:14Speaker 1: I want to say, you know, skin cells start to
- 11:16Speaker 1: slow down, that turn over, so you know, you want
- 11:19Speaker 1: to keep your skin behaving at its peak for the
- 11:24Speaker 1: rest of your life. So that's where an exfoliator comes.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Exfoliator can be either a manual or a chemical product
- 11:34Speaker 1: like glacolic acid that turns over dead cells because that's
- 11:39Speaker 1: what keeps you from being in the glow. That's what
- 11:42Speaker 1: keeps your texture from being food smooth and fine. So
- 11:47Speaker 1: you want to turn over those skin cells. And depending
- 11:50Speaker 1: on your skin type, you may need to do that
- 11:53Speaker 1: once a week, twice a week, uh, once every twenty
- 11:57Speaker 1: eight days. So again that depends on your skin type.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Then you want to have what's known is a vitamin
- 12:04Speaker 1: C serum in this day and age, particularly for skin
- 12:08Speaker 1: of color. A vitamin C serum is like prime octane
- 12:13Speaker 1: if you will, in that it um gives you that glow,
- 12:17Speaker 1: It pulls out your radiance. Uh. It is just so
- 12:21Speaker 1: uh nurturing and priming for the skin. And so serums there,
- 12:26Speaker 1: because of their moleitudes they're so small, they can really
- 12:29Speaker 1: penetrate that first layer of the skin. So again they
- 12:33Speaker 1: they are just give you that tone and texture and
- 12:37Speaker 1: that glow of skin on vacation. Uh. Then you want
- 12:40Speaker 1: to moisturize it with sunscreen. Yeah. Yeah, because we are
- 12:46Speaker 1: no strangers to the fact that we do uh tan,
- 12:50Speaker 1: but tan is sun damage and then the melanin in
- 12:54Speaker 1: our skin we will have more hyper pigmentation. You know,
- 12:58Speaker 1: most of us the audience struggles with some form of
- 13:02Speaker 1: uneven skin tone. Hyper pigmentation, dark spots or blotch, the
- 13:06Speaker 1: areas where the skin is not uniform. It's darker in
- 13:10Speaker 1: certain areas, so you want to be sure to use
- 13:13Speaker 1: a moisturizer with sunscreen. And then the other thing that
- 13:19Speaker 1: you want to have on your list is a great mask.
- 13:23Speaker 1: So a great mask whether your skin is dry and
- 13:26Speaker 1: it's hydrating mask, whether your skin is oily and it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: a poor cleaner. If you will, uh, you want to
- 13:34Speaker 1: have a great mask that you use, be it once
- 13:38Speaker 1: a week, once every other week, depending on your skin type.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Because again that's like your dock in a box. You know,
- 13:45Speaker 1: it's that you can't get to the dermatologist now, you
- 13:48Speaker 1: can't get to the esthetication. That mask is your dock
- 13:51Speaker 1: in a box. Now. Everything you just say it can
- 13:54Speaker 1: be done, could be used by man. Everything you just said,
- 13:57Speaker 1: that's right, absolutely, and and it's me and we tend
- 14:00Speaker 1: to feel that, you know, we don't need, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 1: a sun screen. You know, we feel we don't need
- 14:06Speaker 1: that vitamin C things like that because of the fact
- 14:10Speaker 1: that wrinkles will take over your face unless you like
- 14:13Speaker 1: you know, Mickey Taylor, though you know, face don't come
- 14:16Speaker 1: you know, people make you mad at that? Mickey, Wait,
- 14:20Speaker 1: where the crack? Where are the cracks? Where the cracks?
- 14:26Speaker 1: So so getting advice for people that look like her
- 14:29Speaker 1: make you mad? Really well, you know, I just do
- 14:31Speaker 1: that vitamin. See, I do the sun. Okay, really really,
- 14:36Speaker 1: God gave you a different wake up call girl. Okay.
- 14:40Speaker 1: But but the person like me, I'm dealing with wrinkles.
- 14:42Speaker 1: You know, I'm dealing with bags under my eyes. And
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know I keep looking, I keep looking at these
- 14:47Speaker 1: little commercials talking about you know, in five minutes you
- 14:49Speaker 1: put this under the eye. You know the bags are
- 14:51Speaker 1: going away. What what can't we believe? What? Can I
- 14:55Speaker 1: go into the store and help out my old face?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Mickey Taylor help her brother out. So so, so when
- 15:01Speaker 1: it comes to under eye bags, that's a that's a
- 15:05Speaker 1: that's uh what I call a combo approach. So the
- 15:08Speaker 1: first thing you gotta do is you gotta wash the
- 15:10Speaker 1: salt in your diet. That's the first thing. And the alcohol.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Then secondly, you don't want to sleep flat, you know, Uh,
- 15:19Speaker 1: there's I recommend some people need to sleep on two
- 15:22Speaker 1: pillows slightly a little more elevated so that fluid retention
- 15:25Speaker 1: doesn't happen. Under the eyes. Then you want to get
- 15:28Speaker 1: a deep puffing uh I cream or an eye gel
- 15:32Speaker 1: and you put that on every day. And what it
- 15:34Speaker 1: does is most of them have a little caffeine in them,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and they really have the ability to shrink that bag,
- 15:41Speaker 1: shrink those bags under your eyes. So it's a it's
- 15:46Speaker 1: an I cream or gel. You want to look for
- 15:49Speaker 1: it to say deep puffing, and I will tell you
- 15:54Speaker 1: even if you don't want to use the I cream.
- 15:56Speaker 1: A lot of them come in a serum that have
- 15:58Speaker 1: a little cooling ball all where you roll it on
- 16:01Speaker 1: under the eyes. So Clinique has a very good skincare
- 16:05Speaker 1: line for men, and they also have a great um
- 16:09Speaker 1: deep pupping serum that comes in like a uh it's
- 16:13Speaker 1: like a roll on, a slim bottle, like a roll on.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You've seen that. I've seen that, yes, and that little
- 16:20Speaker 1: cooling metal. It's like when they used to say put
- 16:22Speaker 1: the cue comber under your eyes. Nobody has times and
- 16:26Speaker 1: put the cue comber on the eyes. So this little
- 16:28Speaker 1: cooling ball, if you massage it, it not only deposits
- 16:32Speaker 1: the serum that will shrink the bag, but it also
- 16:34Speaker 1: helps with the swelling because it's cold, right, Oh, my
- 16:39Speaker 1: good because I used clinic, I used oh you've going
- 16:41Speaker 1: my home, and I try you just so all the time.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And I've seen that because you know, you'd be disbelieving stuff.
- 16:47Speaker 1: You don't know what to do that you gotta talk
- 16:49Speaker 1: to an expert to guide you in the right direction.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Look at these commercials or TV you don't know if
- 16:53Speaker 1: you bought it. You know that what is that gonna
- 16:55Speaker 1: work for real? But it's more important you understand that
- 16:58Speaker 1: you're an expert. And when I when I when I
- 17:00Speaker 1: bring you on the show again, I've learned some information.
- 17:03Speaker 1: You know, I was writing all this stuff that it
- 17:05Speaker 1: might be for the listener, but if some of this
- 17:07Speaker 1: information was for Rishan McDonald too, I was greeting on
- 17:09Speaker 1: this interview. But I would just say this to you personally.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Is that you know when I started this show three
- 17:16Speaker 1: years ago and U and it was just an idea
- 17:19Speaker 1: and I had to call on people who at the
- 17:22Speaker 1: time I was just trying to find myself, trying to
- 17:24Speaker 1: find my voice, and you did not hesitate hesitate coming
- 17:28Speaker 1: on my show allowing me and this and this momth
- 17:31Speaker 1: is my third year anniversary moment, and I want to
- 17:33Speaker 1: thank you Mickey for supporting me, for believing the conversation
- 17:37Speaker 1: I'm trying to create with everyday people with your sensibilities
- 17:42Speaker 1: would work, and it is working. It's becoming very popular,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and I want to thank you, Mickey Taylor. Well, it
- 17:47Speaker 1: certainly is that. I want to congratulate you because the
- 17:50Speaker 1: show is changing lives and the dynamics of how we
- 17:53Speaker 1: do business and create wealth and see ourselves. So I
- 17:56Speaker 1: want to congratulate you on and I want to tell
- 17:58Speaker 1: you that keep winning because you're doing it and it's necessary. Well,
- 18:02Speaker 1: thank you, Mickey. You know, whenever you need something and
- 18:04Speaker 1: they need me to need any thing, you need me
- 18:05Speaker 1: to post, I'm your friend. But more importantly, thank you
- 18:08Speaker 1: for doing money making Conversations. Okay, thank you. If you
- 18:12Speaker 1: want to hear more interviews on more interviews about money
- 18:15Speaker 1: making conversations I want to hear, go to money Making
- 18:18Speaker 1: Conversation dot com. I'm Rushan McDonald. I'm your host. In
