- 0:00Thinking today specifically of Romans 6 .1. Romans
- 0:036 .1 says, What shall we say then? Are we to
- 0:07continue in sin so that grace may increase? Now
- 0:10this comes right on the thought that Paul gave
- 0:13about how the law came in so that the offense
- 0:15would increase. But then where sin increased,
- 0:19grace abounded all the more. So that as sin reigned
- 0:22in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness
- 0:24to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- 0:26That's leading us up to the end of chapter 5.
- 0:28The bottom line is then if you are saved, if
- 0:30you are a follower of the Lord, if Jesus Christ
- 0:33has paid the price for your sins, he's washed
- 0:35you clean, he's regenerated you, saved your soul,
- 0:37gave you a new heart, if all that's been accomplished,
- 0:40then should you just keep right on sinning? Should
- 0:43you just keep right on doing the things that
- 0:44God would not want you to do? The answer is clearly
- 0:46no. Even though grace would abound and take care
- 0:50of it, that is not the point. That's not how
- 0:52we're supposed to go. Verse 2 then, he says,
- 0:53far from it. How shall we who died to sin sin?
- 0:57still live in it. If you were baptized into Jesus
- 1:00Christ, if you were baptized into him, you were
- 1:02baptized into his death, he died, and then we
- 1:05died. Our old self is dead and gone. We can't
- 1:07keep living like that anymore. So I would encourage
- 1:09you today to live right, do right, be right,
- 1:12repent, turn to God, look for the strength, look
- 1:15for the hope, the healing, the power that being
- 1:17a Christian pertains, brings to you. Get in your
- 1:20local church. Care about your brothers and sisters
- 1:22in Christ enough to be there under your pastor,
- 1:24listening, learning, working, growing.
