In 2025 the GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation) Prokilma released an updated version of its “R290 Split Air Conditioners Resource Guide.” In it the GIZ Prokilma estimated that global emissions from split air-conditioning systems could decrease by 25% if propane (R290) units were able to command a 50% market share.
