- 1:21Speaker 1: Heart or text I Heeart to five hundred, five hundred
- 1:24Speaker 1: monivating conversations, a motivational show to tell everyday people how
- 1:28Speaker 1: individuals who are successful expand your options. I always tell
- 1:32Speaker 1: people you only got to be successful in life if
- 1:34Speaker 1: you have multiple strings of income. I got him on
- 1:36Speaker 1: the line. Yeah, I'll tell you something. I was driving
- 1:39Speaker 1: in my car a month ago. This is how This
- 1:42Speaker 1: is how long I've been trying to get him on
- 1:43Speaker 1: the show. And it came on You Deserve and uh,
- 1:49Speaker 1: he came on yesterday. But I was driving and he's on.
- 1:55Speaker 1: That song has been in the gospel talk for fifty weeks, ladies,
- 1:58Speaker 1: in fifty weeks, I fire. They got him on the phone.
- 2:01Speaker 1: My Hallelujah belongs to you. Ladies and gentlemen, Please welcome
- 2:05Speaker 1: on Money Making Conversation. J J. Harriston, Yeah, everybody doing it.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I brought the live crowd for you, j J. First
- 2:20Speaker 1: time on my show. I said, I gotta bring a
- 2:21Speaker 1: group for you. Oh wow, that's awesome. I wouldn't be
- 2:24Speaker 1: respecting that. That's great. Well, I'm telling something, man, Um.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You know, I had Marvin Shapped earlier on the show,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and we were just talking about faith in business, because
- 2:36Speaker 1: that's what this show is about. Faith in business is
- 2:38Speaker 1: about how, you know, what keeps you going when the
- 2:42Speaker 1: business don't seem or life doesn't seem like it's working
- 2:45Speaker 1: for you. And I like to get a quick comment
- 2:47Speaker 1: on that before we get into the interview. What are
- 2:49Speaker 1: your thoughts, sir, Well, what keeps me going when it
- 2:52Speaker 1: when it seems like everything's not going the way I'm playing?
- 2:55Speaker 1: And um, really, it's just my my my trust and
- 2:59Speaker 1: my faith in God and what he will do. I
- 3:02Speaker 1: never think anything is a mistake. So even though we
- 3:05Speaker 1: make mistakes, God can use our mistake can turn around
- 3:09Speaker 1: for our good. So even the things that we consider
- 3:11Speaker 1: to be a setbacks, He sets use those things to
- 3:14Speaker 1: set ups up for what he wants us to do
- 3:16Speaker 1: and what he has in store for us. So I
- 3:19Speaker 1: leave a lively state, knowing that everything's gonna be good.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Even though it doesn't feel good, I know it's working
- 3:24Speaker 1: out for my good. Wow, give around applause on that
- 3:31Speaker 1: now now, because I have to bring up business because
- 3:34Speaker 1: you have your own record label, right, yes, sir? Why
- 3:38Speaker 1: because that's a business part, you know, when you're from
- 3:39Speaker 1: talent to business. Now why did you why why was
- 3:43Speaker 1: it important to have your own record label? Well, we
- 3:46Speaker 1: have been with the same UM label for fifteen years.
- 3:51Speaker 1: E one used to be They went through several different
- 3:54Speaker 1: UM purchases and names. They were at one point, at
- 3:57Speaker 1: one point Light Records, then they went to Artemist Gospel,
- 4:01Speaker 1: been back to E one UM. All all throughout those
- 4:05Speaker 1: transitions we maintain the same record contract UM and they
- 4:08Speaker 1: were good to us. You know. Of course things grew
- 4:11Speaker 1: and got better as we went along. But we realized, um,
- 4:15Speaker 1: after all these years, we got you know, you know, publishing,
- 4:19Speaker 1: so you know a little bit per sale and um, um,
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know we've got something for our songs. But that
- 4:27Speaker 1: was about it. We've got an artist woralty, and we
- 4:29Speaker 1: realized that we made so much less than what we
- 4:33Speaker 1: could have made if we were able to put the
- 4:35Speaker 1: record on ourselves. What I think people think that record
- 4:39Speaker 1: labels are this big machine. Because of social media and internet,
- 4:45Speaker 1: everything has really shrunk when it comes to the record
- 4:48Speaker 1: label input. So really, what they do is they are
- 4:51Speaker 1: the bank. Um, they pay the bills now everyone Usually
- 4:56Speaker 1: you used to have publicists. I worked at the record label.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Now they contract their publicists. They used to have someone
- 5:04Speaker 1: who worked radio at the record label. Now they contracted
- 5:08Speaker 1: radio people. So in my hand and I'm like, well,
- 5:11Speaker 1: if they're contracting everyone, why can't I contract them myself
- 5:15Speaker 1: and make all the money. So that's what I decided
- 5:18Speaker 1: to do. We came to a crossroads with the label said, okay,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you know it's time to re up. It's time to
- 5:22Speaker 1: you know, resound ideal. Um, are you ready to go?
- 5:25Speaker 1: I said, well, hold on, yes, sir, I said, why
- 5:29Speaker 1: don't we do a distribution deal. So I'll make the record,
- 5:32Speaker 1: I'll fund it, and you know, all I need to
- 5:35Speaker 1: do is put it in the stores for me. They agree,
- 5:37Speaker 1: you know, you know, I'm sure they thought, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. You know, you'll be coming back
- 5:41Speaker 1: in a minute. Um so, But we did it. And
- 5:45Speaker 1: our first record that we released in this new deal
- 5:48Speaker 1: was you Deserve It. No one ever dreamed. They didn't
- 5:52Speaker 1: understand what you just said. You made a decision to
- 5:55Speaker 1: go your all record label. Correct, And the first record
- 5:59Speaker 1: he released is you deserve It. Come on, now, come on, see,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I can't let them go past that. I can't let
- 6:08Speaker 1: them under because see, sometimes that's going out on faith.
- 6:12Speaker 1: But he also had a business plan, and so when
- 6:15Speaker 1: when the thing about when people start, when you start
- 6:18Speaker 1: changing directions in life, people will question you, ain't the
- 6:22Speaker 1: working out good for you? JJ over there aren't they pay? Yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: that's working out. But I see a bigger opportunity for myself.
- 6:30Speaker 1: That's where the faith comes in. But he also had
- 6:33Speaker 1: seen some cracks in the business. He said, I can
- 6:36Speaker 1: do that myself. You deserve it has been on the
- 6:40Speaker 1: chart for fifty weeks, y'all, fifty weeks, and if you
- 6:47Speaker 1: listen to the spirit like I listened to the top fifteen,
- 6:50Speaker 1: it's been number one, a number two for the last
- 6:54Speaker 1: twenty weeks, y'all. Come on, now, your head not that's
- 7:00Speaker 1: that's a phrase that that always because this shows about
- 7:03Speaker 1: faith in business, that shows about getting people to understand
- 7:06Speaker 1: that they're married. My hallelujah belongs to you? What exactly
- 7:13Speaker 1: does that mean? J J? Well, you know, we're living
- 7:16Speaker 1: in a day where we praise and idolize everything. I mean,
- 7:21Speaker 1: you have reality stars who can't walk down the street
- 7:24Speaker 1: because you gotta you know, a huge but people hiding
- 7:27Speaker 1: trees to see them. We've made idols out of people. Um.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But now this song is declaring that my praise doesn't
- 7:35Speaker 1: go to any man, It doesn't go to anything. It
- 7:38Speaker 1: only belongs to God. And and hallelujah. Hallelujah is a
- 7:44Speaker 1: word that you don't say just for anything. I believe
- 7:48Speaker 1: that words are so important and the word hallelujah should
- 7:52Speaker 1: only be given to God himself. That's why the sauce is,
- 7:55Speaker 1: My Hallelujah belongs to you. All the glories be lost
- 7:58Speaker 1: to him. He's only one that really deserves it, you know.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And I'm gonna taking a little bit of direction of
- 8:07Speaker 1: what I thought. You know, because I because like I said,
- 8:10Speaker 1: when I because I'm like I'm that I'm the everyday guy.
- 8:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying that I'm I'm the everyday guy.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And like I told him earlier, you know, I'm not
- 8:18Speaker 1: a guy who shares my beliefs publicly all the time.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You know. Uh, And that's the that's pretty much everyday guy.
- 8:25Speaker 1: You know. I for some reason in my mind, I
- 8:29Speaker 1: can't just let everybody know how important God is to
- 8:32Speaker 1: me every day. I'm still I'm battling with that. I'm
- 8:35Speaker 1: trying to figure that out myself. But that's what this
- 8:38Speaker 1: is what people do. But but I know when I
- 8:40Speaker 1: need him, He's number one in my on my on
- 8:45Speaker 1: my phone book and so and I'm just I'm just
- 8:47Speaker 1: trying to do what I'm trying to do with myself.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I'm trying to get everybody understand about their business life.
- 8:52Speaker 1: So you know, when it says, uh, you deserve it,
- 8:56Speaker 1: what I took away from it is that everybody in
- 8:58Speaker 1: this room, everybody watching this, or everybody listening to the show,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you deserve it. That's what I when if I hear
- 9:04Speaker 1: that you deserve it. You deserve anything that you work
- 9:07Speaker 1: for as long as you apply it and believe it
- 9:11Speaker 1: and stay consistent with the opportunity towards success. That's what
- 9:14Speaker 1: I take away from that. Song. So every time you
- 9:16Speaker 1: hear that song, no, he's just telling you my Hallelujah
- 9:20Speaker 1: belongs to you. Go forward. That's what it is. Go forward.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You deserve it. Stop sitting around wondering is it my day,
- 9:28Speaker 1: isn't my week, it's in my year, It's right now.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You deserve it. That's what I took away from a
- 9:34Speaker 1: j J. I don't know if that's what you meant,
- 9:36Speaker 1: but I'm just a able this with little over Shan
- 9:39Speaker 1: little ball head thought about and say, hey man, every
- 9:42Speaker 1: time I hear that song, I feel good. Every time
- 9:45Speaker 1: I hear that song, I'm inspired. And so it was
- 9:49Speaker 1: that the goal when you when the when the song
- 9:52Speaker 1: was was put on paper, when it was recorded, and
- 9:55Speaker 1: when it was uttered out loud in public, what was
- 9:58Speaker 1: the goal of that song? See that? Okay, I'll be honest.
- 10:01Speaker 1: That wasn't the original message for the song, but that
- 10:05Speaker 1: you just touched on something I just talked to UM.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I was with a group of young people last week. UM.
- 10:12Speaker 1: They had like a youth conference and they had me
- 10:15Speaker 1: come in and share a little bit, and we talked
- 10:18Speaker 1: about it for so long. We prey, you know, we
- 10:20Speaker 1: just pray and wait, pray and wait, um, But the
- 10:23Speaker 1: Bible says that faith without works is dead. So if
- 10:27Speaker 1: you want to see something happen, you gotta do something.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Every every blessing in the Bible came with an instruction.
- 10:35Speaker 1: There was. God always says do this, and I'm gonna
- 10:38Speaker 1: do that everything. It could be something very small, something
- 10:41Speaker 1: very God asked you for something small, but at the
- 10:44Speaker 1: end he wanted you to take part in your miracle.
- 10:47Speaker 1: If if He just consistently just throws that stuff at you,
- 10:51Speaker 1: you just become a lazy beggar. And that's not where
- 10:55Speaker 1: we are. We are people who are looking for God
- 10:57Speaker 1: to do something for us, but He's gonna use us
- 11:00Speaker 1: to get what we want for us. So if you,
- 11:03Speaker 1: like you said, if you if you want to write
- 11:04Speaker 1: a book, go do it. If you wanna. There's a
- 11:07Speaker 1: job you're looking for, don't sit at home and pray
- 11:09Speaker 1: about it. Pray about it, but then go throughout the
- 11:11Speaker 1: application and so and show them why you should be
- 11:14Speaker 1: the one working that job. If you want something to happen,
- 11:18Speaker 1: go and make it happen. Wow, ladies and gentlemen, you
- 11:22Speaker 1: deserve it. You deserve I'm gonna tell you them. J
