- 1:22Speaker 1: That's Nicole Robert. How can I not be excited to
- 1:26Speaker 1: be here after all of that energy, I'm gonna try
- 1:29Speaker 1: to keep myself, you know, contained though, so excited to
- 1:32Speaker 1: be here, You're gonna keep yourself continent. First of all,
- 1:35Speaker 1: what do you calling from? So we can find out
- 1:37Speaker 1: I live in Boston? I'm but I live in Boston,
- 1:40Speaker 1: So that's where I am. Now, Yes, what keeps you
- 1:43Speaker 1: in Boston? What's going on in boss family? What's going
- 1:45Speaker 1: on in Boston? Yeah? My husband got a job here,
- 1:48Speaker 1: so I do what I do for whatever. So, yes,
- 1:50Speaker 1: he is the reason why we moved to Massachusetts. Cool.
- 1:52Speaker 1: That's all good. That's all good. That's just trying to
- 1:55Speaker 1: I try to figure out what it is a little
- 1:56Speaker 1: bundle of energy and inspiration is residing in so you
- 2:00Speaker 1: well up there that I've been the Boston a couple
- 2:03Speaker 1: of times in my career. Very familiar with that landscape
- 2:07Speaker 1: up there. Um, the interesting thinking about you as a talent. Okay,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you established your brand in Los Angeles. I'm assuming that's
- 2:15Speaker 1: what talent management and casting. Let's talk about that early
- 2:18Speaker 1: journey and we'll move up to just probably crossed because
- 2:22Speaker 1: I've worked in comedy for years and probably for the
- 2:25Speaker 1: next hour about that. But yes, so I started. Really
- 2:28Speaker 1: my dream since I was eight years old was the
- 2:30Speaker 1: working entertainment and how how eight years old? How? Yes?
- 2:38Speaker 1: So literally, I I got to the place I dreamed
- 2:41Speaker 1: of and something felt like I was missing, And so that,
- 2:45Speaker 1: in essence, long story short, is how I came to
- 2:48Speaker 1: do this work I'm doing now. I started to really
- 2:51Speaker 1: look at how could I be doing the thing I
- 2:52Speaker 1: dream of? And I loved it. Don't get me wrong,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I didn't hate any part of it, but it just
- 2:56Speaker 1: felt like there was more for me to do. And
- 2:58Speaker 1: so that is how I shifted over. I started this
- 3:02Speaker 1: over twenty seven years ago, even though I'm only twenty eight,
- 3:06Speaker 1: and to see you didn't even listen to my intro
- 3:11Speaker 1: mony Baker Conversation interviews will encourage you to leave with
- 3:14Speaker 1: your gifts and never use age as an excuse when
- 3:17Speaker 1: plenty of your I tell everybody you cannot allow that.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know it's for some reason life as you as
- 3:26Speaker 1: you know, you know people talking about they don't want
- 3:28Speaker 1: to turn thirty always twenty nine, don't want to turn
- 3:30Speaker 1: forty dollars thirty nine. But you cannot accomplish anything in
- 3:33Speaker 1: life unless you get older and look exactly and I'm looking,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm fifty and I'm seasoned because it's only the about
- 3:41Speaker 1: because she's a good looking a good looking fit. I
- 3:44Speaker 1: would have never known. But that lets me know I'm
- 3:47Speaker 1: talking to a person with experience, and let me know
- 3:50Speaker 1: that because you know, to be successful, there's there's a
- 3:52Speaker 1: certain degree of honesty that has to be laid out there,
- 3:55Speaker 1: especially when're telling peop about multiple streams of income, because
- 3:59Speaker 1: everybody wants that. Everybody wants to understand how they can
- 4:01Speaker 1: be a part of that opportunity. But you have to
- 4:04Speaker 1: have experience, you have to create a track record, and
- 4:07Speaker 1: you have to surround yourself with people who believe in
- 4:10Speaker 1: your passion and turn that passion into economic opportunity. You
- 4:14Speaker 1: can not do that if you're in eighteen years old
- 4:17Speaker 1: all your life. I'm sorry, yeah, and then it starts
- 4:20Speaker 1: with getting clear. So when I just told you that
- 4:23Speaker 1: I had an epiphany moment. In piphany moment at the time,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I was working on the hottest TV show on Fox
- 4:29Speaker 1: right at an epiphany moment, and every girlfriend and I
- 4:32Speaker 1: talked to keep saying, girl, are you're crazy? Do you
- 4:33Speaker 1: realize we went to this red carpet event and we
- 4:35Speaker 1: went to this premiere. Are you crazy? But something inside
- 4:39Speaker 1: of me knew there was more? And so I'm sharing
- 4:41Speaker 1: that because that more. It's not about money, It's about
- 4:44Speaker 1: making a difference. I mean, you make difference, money comes.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And so what I began to look at is what
- 4:50Speaker 1: is this thing rumbling inside of me? Now? At the time,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I was twenty three years old, I had no I know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: no life experience, but I knew that something was calling
- 4:58Speaker 1: me into another level of me. And so it took
- 5:02Speaker 1: an introspective look. Many of us look for an outside
- 5:05Speaker 1: answer to an inside yeourname, and so I stopped looking
- 5:08Speaker 1: for outside answers and I started spending time with me,
- 5:11Speaker 1: started getting closer to God and really looking at what
- 5:14Speaker 1: is it that you have me on this earth to do?
- 5:17Speaker 1: And that shifted everything. Now you got to tell me
- 5:20Speaker 1: what was the name of that TV show? Because people
- 5:22Speaker 1: are gonna go you can you can? I do this interview?
- 5:25Speaker 1: So I was on the Hottest TV show and thirty
- 5:27Speaker 1: minutes later we hadn't even mentioned the show. What's the name?
- 5:29Speaker 1: So yes? So I worked in Cassie on The Martin
- 5:31Speaker 1: Show for four years. I worked on Death Comedy Jam.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I worked with Simmons Lathan, Brill sin Gray, which is
- 5:38Speaker 1: where I passed probably cross SLPG Entertainment. So um work
- 5:42Speaker 1: for some pretty great listen. Sat Lathan is still my
- 5:46Speaker 1: all time favorite boss, right, and so did our first
- 5:50Speaker 1: when Steve Harry Now I went to television. You know,
- 5:53Speaker 1: stay Lathan has always been good to me as a
- 5:57Speaker 1: as a mentor person. I see and I just stopped
- 6:00Speaker 1: and have to hug it. You know. I saw last
- 6:02Speaker 1: at the at the Holly Robinson peat Uh Annual Foundation fundraiser.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So I got a picture, took a picture with him.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I said, you love me. So, Stanley the stand was
- 6:12Speaker 1: an absolute best boss, and it was it was while
- 6:14Speaker 1: working with him that I had this epiphany. So it
- 6:17Speaker 1: was really hard because Stand again, when you work with
- 6:19Speaker 1: stan you feel like family. You don't feel like you're
- 6:21Speaker 1: working a job. A matter of fact, when I quit,
- 6:24Speaker 1: Stan said, what can I do to cap you stay?
- 6:27Speaker 1: So he made it hard for me to leave. But
- 6:29Speaker 1: I knew that there was more out there waiting for me,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and so that in essence, had me leave my Hollywood dream.
- 6:35Speaker 1: That don't get me wrong, I missed all the Hollywood parties, right,
- 6:39Speaker 1: But what I'm doing more, I realized now I'm taking
- 6:42Speaker 1: I took the same exact things I was doing in
- 6:44Speaker 1: casting and talent management, and now I help people actually
- 6:48Speaker 1: manage their talent. How did they take their gifts and
- 6:51Speaker 1: talent and actually make money from it? Okay, let's let's
- 6:54Speaker 1: talk about this is Hollywood life, you know because I
- 6:57Speaker 1: lived that Hollywood. Let's see, see I'm talking to somebody.
- 7:01Speaker 1: She she's at the top of the chromes. Okay, that's
- 7:03Speaker 1: what the top of the That's a different game. When
- 7:05Speaker 1: you walk on red carpet to people, people know you
- 7:08Speaker 1: can hide them, girl, can you can? You you have
- 7:11Speaker 1: a picture? And so what are some of the now
- 7:14Speaker 1: famous are people or that you worked with as far
- 7:17Speaker 1: as talent management, as far as casting over the years
- 7:21Speaker 1: in that career. Before we move forward to the bank
- 7:23Speaker 1: roll in your brilliance. So at Caste, I worked with
- 7:26Speaker 1: Eileen Night. She became you know right, So I worked
- 7:31Speaker 1: on several Rock Martin. As I said, I worked on
- 7:34Speaker 1: Media Man. Guys, you know how old I am, so
- 7:36Speaker 1: now you've got my memory going. I worked on Media Man.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I worked on several movies I can't even men exactly.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And he had a TV show called Towns and Television.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I worked on that. So I worked on several teams
- 7:48Speaker 1: and several movies, right, and and then when I left there,
- 7:52Speaker 1: when I went to work with Stan, we manage many
- 7:54Speaker 1: of the Deaf Comany Jam comedians, so Bill Bellam, Joe Tory,
- 7:57Speaker 1: Guy Tory, Um Center the Entertainer Um. And then I
- 8:01Speaker 1: got to also work, you know, like during the audition
- 8:04Speaker 1: process for many other Deaf Comedy Jam comedians so Um
- 8:08Speaker 1: so interface Uh, Dell Givons Uh event will soon. I'm
- 8:12Speaker 1: like trying to remember all the names of the people
- 8:14Speaker 1: that we got to manage and so really having hand
- 8:18Speaker 1: in their career shifting from this comedy to doing movies
- 8:21Speaker 1: and TV and stuff like that. You know, with Sean,
- 8:23Speaker 1: it was struggling to get on Deaf Comedy Jam because
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know you probably looked at my little video with
- 8:28Speaker 1: now I passed, Okay, that was Bob Sumner. You know
- 8:31Speaker 1: Bob that was and I interviewed something too. I said, Bob,
- 8:35Speaker 1: because I'm telling a little side story about me. So
- 8:38Speaker 1: I started doing stand up comed before you know, I
- 8:40Speaker 1: went in the White game. You know, I was at
- 8:42Speaker 1: the White Coming Jared Seinfield, all that Bill Hicks and
- 8:46Speaker 1: then it's Leary. That was me. So when the death
- 8:48Speaker 1: Janet Jeff Comedy Jeff popped out, you know, they looked
- 8:51Speaker 1: at me, go, now, you can't make black people laugh.
- 8:55Speaker 1: That to me, and so I had to go to
- 8:56Speaker 1: a black Black comedy competition in Oakland make the finals,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and then they went, okay, you can make black people laugh.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We could the black comedy and Rickey Harrison was on
- 9:09Speaker 1: our clients to black comedy. So when Guy Tory started
- 9:12Speaker 1: Fat Tuesdays at the Comedy Store, I was actually on
- 9:14Speaker 1: his team. So I would always say he would do
- 9:16Speaker 1: the frindend and I would do the backing because I
- 9:17Speaker 1: managed the room for him. That was one of my
- 9:18Speaker 1: last jobs in comedy. And you know, just there's so
- 9:22Speaker 1: many talented people. But here's the thing, somebody needs to
- 9:25Speaker 1: write this down, whether you're in comedy or you are
- 9:28Speaker 1: working at nine to five. The people that make it
- 9:30Speaker 1: to the people that don't quit. You know, Chadwick Boseman
- 9:33Speaker 1: just passed right not too long ago, and when you
- 9:36Speaker 1: look at the fact that he had cancer for six
- 9:39Speaker 1: or four of his last years in the best movies
- 9:42Speaker 1: he made was why he was fighting for cancer. How
- 9:45Speaker 1: many people would quit and say, I'm sick or I'm
- 9:48Speaker 1: going through keymore, I can't do this. And so it's
- 9:50Speaker 1: really the people that stay in it and don't give up.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And I saw so many comedians that were funny, it
- 9:55Speaker 1: just wasn't their time. It was the people that didn't
- 9:57Speaker 1: give up that that we're willing to risk get all
- 10:00Speaker 1: to gain it all that literally made it to the
- 10:03Speaker 1: big stage and that and they didn't compromise who they were.
- 10:06Speaker 1: And I'm gonna say this, and somebody's gonna get me
- 10:08Speaker 1: for saying this, but one of the things that I
- 10:10Speaker 1: didn't like about comedy it's how everybody thought, oh, well,
- 10:13Speaker 1: Bernie Mac is really funny and he's dirty, so maybe
- 10:15Speaker 1: I need to be dirty. So that's who Bernie Mac was.
- 10:17Speaker 1: So you're trying to be dirty because He's like, that
- 10:20Speaker 1: doesn't make you funny and makes you trying to be
- 10:22Speaker 1: Bernie Mack. And God didn't make you with the cookie cutter,
- 10:24Speaker 1: so why are you trying to copy somebody else's brilliance
- 10:26Speaker 1: and make it your own? I agree? And it really
- 10:31Speaker 1: interesting when you used the word dirty comedy comic, they
- 10:35Speaker 1: used vulgarity, and it's always see Bernie Mac would digress
- 10:40Speaker 1: a little bit because I was. I'm a former stand
- 10:42Speaker 1: up comedy comedian. If you curse in your punchline, any
- 10:45Speaker 1: with a curse work, then guess what people always heard
- 10:48Speaker 1: that curse work. Okay, ye, now I remember, and I'm
- 10:51Speaker 1: tell him I was as salty as anybody on stage.
- 10:54Speaker 1: And I remember people will come out to me, go,
- 10:56Speaker 1: you really have a really good clean act? I go,
- 10:58Speaker 1: did they? Did they hear me? Did they hear me?
- 11:01Speaker 1: Because of how I just folk and how I communicated?
- 11:04Speaker 1: And you know, and and the one thing that the
- 11:06Speaker 1: gift that you really have, Nicole, is that you're a
- 11:10Speaker 1: great communicator. You know, even in this interview, I'm I
- 11:15Speaker 1: just want to talk to you. I just want to
- 11:16Speaker 1: engage you and just girl what you're doing? Come on over?
- 11:20Speaker 1: You know I can talk to you for a minute now,
- 11:23Speaker 1: because you usually have the right tools of conversation. Even
- 11:30Speaker 1: a great comedian, All a great comedian is as a storyteller.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Even there, I say Jesus, if you read all the
- 11:35Speaker 1: stories in the Bible of him doing stuff, it's stories, right.
- 11:38Speaker 1: And so when you think about it, even the greatest
- 11:41Speaker 1: CEOs have the greatest story behind them. If you think
- 11:45Speaker 1: about people like Tyler Perry, the fact that he lived
- 11:47Speaker 1: in a car, right, and so the Steve Arby right,
- 11:50Speaker 1: we can go on and on. It's the story that
- 11:52Speaker 1: people follow. So when you're on stage or when you're
- 11:55Speaker 1: on listen, you can be a stage as a comedian
- 11:57Speaker 1: or a CEO of a business, regardless of what that stages,
- 12:00Speaker 1: whether it's a platform, a boardroom, or classroom or boutique,
- 12:03Speaker 1: whatever that is. It's the story people remember. My angels said.
- 12:07Speaker 1: People forget what you did, that, forget what you said,
- 12:10Speaker 1: but they always remember how you made them feel. It's
- 12:14Speaker 1: the story that connects people heart to heart. Sold us all,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I'm just I'm gonna turn home if
- 12:21Speaker 1: I get sick. I'm a key let in r and
- 12:24Speaker 1: j feell in me and I love that you're calling
- 12:27Speaker 1: me NRJ because my my close friends call me that.
- 12:29Speaker 1: As soon as we got on the line and you said,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I just felt laughing, like, you know, this brother knows
- 12:34Speaker 1: me already. That's my gift, you know, And that's you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: It's always funny, is that Steve Harten is always getting know.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I just walk in the room and he just go
- 12:42Speaker 1: and I tell him by different people go, you ain't
- 12:44Speaker 1: even met that person. I go, I don't need to.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I just had a I just have a sense of people,
- 12:50Speaker 1: you know, have a sense of who are wasted my
- 12:53Speaker 1: time and who's gonna even if they're wasting my time
- 12:55Speaker 1: at least I know in conversation the extent of this conversation, okay,
- 12:59Speaker 1: exactly because you need to talk to everybody. I never
- 13:01Speaker 1: stopped talking to anybody just because I devalue what they
- 13:04Speaker 1: was going to bring to the table, because I thought
- 13:06Speaker 1: that in having a conversation, I was educated myself and
- 13:08Speaker 1: I understand understood some things about myself and a comprehending
- 13:12Speaker 1: my ability to be successful. Now if your ability to
- 13:14Speaker 1: be successful right now, though, Nicole, is that you're willing
- 13:18Speaker 1: to share an uplift. Why is that so important in
- 13:21Speaker 1: the in the entrepreneurial space. M So I told you
- 13:26Speaker 1: the story of of me coming to that crosshold where
- 13:28Speaker 1: I knew there was more for me to do. So
- 13:30Speaker 1: to make a long story short, and I have to
- 13:33Speaker 1: tell you the story so you understand since I just
- 13:34Speaker 1: talked about storytelling, but I just want you to understand
- 13:36Speaker 1: the context of why I'm so passionate about it. So
- 13:39Speaker 1: when I left to start my business, Really what happened
- 13:43Speaker 1: is one of my good girlfriends invited me to volunteer
- 13:45Speaker 1: at a program that was happening at our church. And
- 13:48Speaker 1: one night, as I walked in that church, and those
- 13:49Speaker 1: of you that are familiar with a lock in at
- 13:51Speaker 1: a church where they locked the kids in and they
- 13:52Speaker 1: do activities. In other words, it's a sleepover. It just
- 13:54Speaker 1: just lock in because you know, I don't know why
- 13:56Speaker 1: they lock in. Sounds bad now, but back then it
- 13:58Speaker 1: sounded good anyway. Um, And so when I started working
- 14:01Speaker 1: with young women that night, as I worked with them,
- 14:04Speaker 1: their eyes lit up, And as their eyes lit up,
- 14:06Speaker 1: my heart lit up, and I realized, oh my god,
- 14:08Speaker 1: this is what I'm meant to do, really helping them
- 14:11Speaker 1: figure out and carving out a path for their future.
- 14:14Speaker 1: But this was a glamorous like my nine. Right, nobody
- 14:18Speaker 1: was begging down any door to do this work. Now again,
- 14:21Speaker 1: this was in nine there was no such thing as
- 14:23Speaker 1: a coach, but that's what I was doing that night,
- 14:25Speaker 1: And so I realized I had to figure this thing out.
- 14:28Speaker 1: So in n I started my business. So some seventeen
- 14:32Speaker 1: years later, by two thousand and ten, I had gotten
- 14:35Speaker 1: to the exact place I dreamed of when I started.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So by then I had a nonprofit and a for
- 14:40Speaker 1: profit in my business, and my nonprofit I had ten
- 14:42Speaker 1: chapters and ten states working with those teenage girls, and
- 14:46Speaker 1: we were growing by leaps and bounds. In my for profit,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I had a maxile coaching client roster, meaning I couldn't
- 14:52Speaker 1: take another client. Coaching women and a few gentlemen really
- 14:55Speaker 1: helping them understand how to bank roll their brilliance. Right.
- 14:58Speaker 1: But and how it's finally here, the season of celebration,
- 15:05Speaker 1: And no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 15:08Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for reis magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 15:12Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass Coals has just what you
- 15:15Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts

- 15:24Speaker 1: blankets and throws. Support minority owned or founded brands by

- 15:32Speaker 1: them to everyone's favorite active wear from top brands like Nike, Adidas,
- 15:36Speaker 1: and under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals
- 15:39Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide
- 15:44Speaker 1: committed to the health and well being of our communities.
- 15:47Speaker 1: No matter how you celebrate, when you shop at Coals,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you're right where you belong. So this season, give with
- 15:53Speaker 1: all your heart with great gifts from Coals or Coals

- 16:57Speaker 1: That's O T T E R dot Ai that came
- 17:00Speaker 1: in two thousand and ten. And I'm telling you guys
- 17:01Speaker 1: all of that because what happened is I started getting
- 17:04Speaker 1: invitation to speak all over the country and so I
- 17:07Speaker 1: was thinking to myself, oh my goodness, I've made it.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But here's the thing. I was only generating thirteen thousand
- 17:14Speaker 1: dollars in my business, which means I had a big fat,
- 17:18Speaker 1: uh you know, community service. Because there's no way I
- 17:21Speaker 1: was living off a thirteen thousand dollars. So yes, at
- 17:24Speaker 1: a daytime job right which I was an adjunct professor
- 17:26Speaker 1: at the time. So I'm telling you that story because
- 17:28Speaker 1: I had gotten to a crossroad, and I said, listen, now,
- 17:31Speaker 1: I prayed, Lord, if this is really you and this
- 17:32Speaker 1: is what I meant to do, you better show me something.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You better help me figure this out. And so I
- 17:37Speaker 1: got on this free webinar one night and I didn't track,
- 17:40Speaker 1: you know how far it was from my prayer, because
- 17:42Speaker 1: I didn't realize this was my breakthrough. On that free webinar,
- 17:44Speaker 1: I invited me to go to a conference. When I
- 17:46Speaker 1: got to that conference, I started seeing all the stuff
- 17:49Speaker 1: I didn't know. At that commerce, I hired my first coach.
- 17:52Speaker 1: So I'm telling you all of that because in my
- 17:54Speaker 1: first coaching session, my coach said to me in the
- 17:56Speaker 1: cod wait a minute. So you used to work in
- 17:58Speaker 1: talent development in the entertainment industry, and then you left
- 18:01Speaker 1: there and you wouldn't got a master's degree. And your
- 18:03Speaker 1: expertise is program development. So you're really great at developing programs,
- 18:07Speaker 1: so much so that you got offered an advent profession
- 18:10Speaker 1: position at USC And now that you move to Boston,
- 18:12Speaker 1: you teach at Boston University, and what you teach this
- 18:14Speaker 1: program development. And I'm thinking, yeah, let me get my
- 18:17Speaker 1: coach to knowing me. And then she said before you
- 18:19Speaker 1: moved from California, you had a consulting practice, and what
- 18:23Speaker 1: you did was you went into businesses. You work with celebrities,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you work with heads of state, you work with nonprofits,
- 18:28Speaker 1: and you develop programs. And I said yeah. And then
- 18:31Speaker 1: the next day she Saidvershewan was what shifted everything from me.
- 18:34Speaker 1: She said, you don't have any programs in your own business.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So here's the thing written down. But not only that,
- 18:42Speaker 1: you can't only listen. If you only have in your
- 18:45Speaker 1: business ways to generate revenue where you have to be present,
- 18:49Speaker 1: you're already kepping off how much money you can make.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Because if you only have eight hours in a day,
- 18:54Speaker 1: first of all, you're not gonna work all eight hours
- 18:55Speaker 1: or clients, whether it's coaching, consulting, or whatever it is.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You're doing right, working wealthy right. And so you've got
- 19:02Speaker 1: to be able to do what I learned in that
- 19:03Speaker 1: moment called making money while you sleep. And it's not
- 19:06Speaker 1: just who I'm gonna developer online program. You've got to
- 19:08Speaker 1: get clear on four things. I'm gonna tell you these
- 19:11Speaker 1: four things. But let me tell I tell you the
- 19:13Speaker 1: four things right, because I keep talking, I'm much promise.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I was like those I just dropped a little ugget
- 19:20Speaker 1: in between working wealth. You know what I'm saying, mailbox.
- 19:24Speaker 1: You know mailbox, but I got all the terms because
- 19:27Speaker 1: guess what you and I think of life? You know
- 19:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying. The thing I appreciate about the whole
- 19:32Speaker 1: situation is that when we go through life trying to
- 19:35Speaker 1: figure out and people start calling, it's defining how much
- 19:40Speaker 1: is our value? It's five thousand, ten thousands, there's a thousand,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and sometimes it's easy to go, okay, I'll be there,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I'll be okay, thank you for and so you have
- 19:49Speaker 1: to eventually find your value and then off. And that's
- 19:54Speaker 1: what we're talking. That's the part we're about to go
- 19:55Speaker 1: right now. That's where I'm going, Like, I've been there,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I've been here, I've been there. I'm the first person
- 20:00Speaker 1: to manage myself. I hate the fact that I you
- 20:03Speaker 1: know that that that I negotiate stuff, because sometimes I do.
- 20:06Speaker 1: That's where I got good friends. Go, man, you better
- 20:09Speaker 1: go tell that dude to take a hike. That's you know,
- 20:11Speaker 1: that's under your value. Okay, thank you man. Because we
- 20:13Speaker 1: always we always so we don't value our intellectual property
- 20:16Speaker 1: because we don't do what we do to us. Yes,
- 20:18Speaker 1: So there's things that intrinsic to your DNA, which I
- 20:21Speaker 1: call your distinct natural ability, that you do on autopilot.
- 20:24Speaker 1: So you'll say things like and if you haven't said it,
- 20:26Speaker 1: I know I have, oh done everybody know how to
- 20:28Speaker 1: do this? Or oh this is easy? Well, yes, it's
- 20:30Speaker 1: easy for you. Yes, And that's why sometimes you can
- 20:34Speaker 1: get undervalue saying that I've done that and I've caught myself.
- 20:39Speaker 1: But it's even more so the truth when you try
- 20:41Speaker 1: to do it for yourself, you realize how diffical it is.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's easy, Like I was starious, I should know Steve
- 20:46Speaker 1: Harvey blood pressure, with the for prakast, with for different
- 20:48Speaker 1: where he didn't like, if you like corborate, if you're
- 20:51Speaker 1: like what city you like to do in Miami, we're
- 20:54Speaker 1: like doing New York. I knew all that. But when
- 20:56Speaker 1: I stopped managing him in twenty sixteen, I can tell,
- 21:00Speaker 1: are you none of those things for Rashan? And so
- 21:03Speaker 1: it was important easy probably for you to manage him
- 21:06Speaker 1: than it was for you to manage And it's not
- 21:09Speaker 1: necessary managed thing. But here's the thing. You begin to
- 21:12Speaker 1: feel like, and I don't know about you something to
- 21:13Speaker 1: say me. You know you feel like you're bragging about
- 21:15Speaker 1: yourself or oh, well, how can I feel that about me?
- 21:17Speaker 1: But it's like, no, I'm clearing who I am and
- 21:20Speaker 1: I'm making an invitation. I'm not selling you. I'm making
- 21:22Speaker 1: invitation because I know the predictable result. I can get
- 21:24Speaker 1: you too, if you're willing to do the work. But
- 21:27Speaker 1: there's a difference between you saying that about someone else
- 21:29Speaker 1: and you're beginning to say that about you. It's like
- 21:31Speaker 1: you have to shift your muscle from not pride but
- 21:35Speaker 1: really being unapologetically who you are. And you know, it's
- 21:39Speaker 1: really interesting because that's why you have to have people
- 21:42Speaker 1: around you. Okay and yeah, and sometimes my staff they're
- 21:46Speaker 1: tell me, okay, rashan, uh, you want a couple of emmies, huh,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you want some you want some of different who you are? Right,
- 21:54Speaker 1: you know, because you think you know that's what you're
- 21:56Speaker 1: talking about, bragging on yourself. They remind me, I'm a
- 21:59Speaker 1: math degree. There. Remind me that I was an award
- 22:02Speaker 1: when you stand up comic there, remind me that I'm
- 22:04Speaker 1: award winning baker. They'll remind me, I manage because you're
- 22:08Speaker 1: not focused on who you were. You're focused on who
- 22:10Speaker 1: you have not yet become, and that is and that
- 22:13Speaker 1: is important. But you know what, but there's the important
- 22:15Speaker 1: thing this conversation we have in is that if you
- 22:18Speaker 1: don't understand your base, what do you build it off of?
- 22:22Speaker 1: And can I just tell you the reason why I
- 22:24Speaker 1: didn't make money in my business for seventeen years because
- 22:27Speaker 1: I didn't understand my base. I didn't nderstand my brilliant
- 22:29Speaker 1: I didn't take the time to create a strategy around it. Here.
- 22:33Speaker 1: You know, you know, not the last It's not the
- 22:35Speaker 1: last time you gonna be on my show. You know
- 22:37Speaker 1: that I could talk, so I could be on your
- 22:39Speaker 1: show anytime you want me. You will and you will be.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You will be. I think you're don't let you know
- 22:43Speaker 1: that because because of the fact that we're talking the
- 22:46Speaker 1: same lanes of conversation male female, and it's important that
- 22:51Speaker 1: people understand that the value system works for both gender. Yeah,
- 22:56Speaker 1: it does, if you don't mind let me. Black people,
- 22:59Speaker 1: we have not done that because we've not tools to
- 23:03Speaker 1: for that to be communicated to us. We haven't had
- 23:07Speaker 1: the family and the legacy that's that's been able to
- 23:10Speaker 1: communicate our legacy. There, I say this is slavery, doesn't
- 23:12Speaker 1: mean we haven't done something since then. But we've had
- 23:15Speaker 1: to really pull ourselves up our bootstrap. So our family
- 23:18Speaker 1: members that did go to college in the nineteen hundreds
- 23:20Speaker 1: right had to fight for that. And so for many
- 23:24Speaker 1: of us, it's taken generation after generation after generation for
- 23:26Speaker 1: us understand wealth, whereas some other cultures have it from
- 23:30Speaker 1: the beginning. So I'm not downing what we've been through
- 23:32Speaker 1: because we are strong people, but we've had to learn
- 23:35Speaker 1: it in a different way. And I listen, I'm from
- 23:37Speaker 1: south central l A. Let me keep it all the way. Well,
- 23:40Speaker 1: if those of you that saw Boys Behood, I grew
- 23:42Speaker 1: up probably ten blocks from where they film that movie,
- 23:44Speaker 1: So listen, I grew up robbing Peter to pay Paul.
- 23:47Speaker 1: So here I am now with a multiple six figure
- 23:49Speaker 1: business with a massive degree, you know, with eight people
- 23:52Speaker 1: on my team working towards my million dollar year. And
- 23:55Speaker 1: you know, when a neighborhood that I'm from would have
- 23:58Speaker 1: to find my life by jail rugs and drive by shootings,
- 24:01Speaker 1: There's no way that I should be here where I am.
- 24:04Speaker 1: There's no way I should live on the East Coast.
- 24:06Speaker 1: There's no way you know I can continue, but all
- 24:09Speaker 1: I can say is but God and then getting clear
- 24:12Speaker 1: and who God created you to be and accepting nothing less.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So with that real quick, because I don't want leave
- 24:18Speaker 1: this dangling is I want to tell people the four
- 24:20Speaker 1: uh piece or four step framework to what I call
- 24:24Speaker 1: my fierce formula. And I call it fierce because just
- 24:27Speaker 1: like Beyonce created Sosha fierce when she went out on
- 24:30Speaker 1: her solo career and had to stand on stage for
- 24:33Speaker 1: the first time and had to like conjure up enough
- 24:35Speaker 1: courage to do it, many of us need to find
- 24:37Speaker 1: the fearce inside of us as a fellas. If you
- 24:38Speaker 1: can't say fear and safe aerocious is all good? This
- 24:40Speaker 1: is for YouTube, right. So it's four steps and these
- 24:43Speaker 1: are the four steps that, by the way, I went
- 24:44Speaker 1: from thirteen thousand and two hundred thousand and six months
- 24:46Speaker 1: with these four steps. Okay, So first it's passion, like
- 24:50Speaker 1: what are you passionate about? That's why Rashaanna and I
- 24:52Speaker 1: can talk all day long because we brought are passionate
- 24:54Speaker 1: about bank rolling your brilliance? Right, So what could you
- 24:57Speaker 1: do hour upon hour hour and never get paid for it?
- 25:00Speaker 1: The second is what are you proficient in Now, the
- 25:03Speaker 1: first one and the second one has to correlate. You
- 25:05Speaker 1: can't love it and be not good at it. That
- 25:07Speaker 1: won't work, or you can't be good at it and
- 25:09Speaker 1: not love it. So like for instance, Shelle Obama talked
- 25:11Speaker 1: about this in her book Becoming. She said, I was
- 25:14Speaker 1: really great at being a lawyer. You know, was offered
- 25:16Speaker 1: a partner in a law firm, but I hated it.
- 25:20Speaker 1: So you've got to find those who have to correlate.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And those two are really your purpose, passion and proficiency.
- 25:26Speaker 1: The third P is what problem does it solve? Because
- 25:29Speaker 1: it ain't about you, It's about all those that need
- 25:31Speaker 1: that gift inside of you. And then of course the
- 25:33Speaker 1: fourth peace profit. So once you get clearing all four
- 25:36Speaker 1: of those, that is really the missing ingredient for many people.
- 25:39Speaker 1: That's our businesses and really kept me from bank rolling
- 25:42Speaker 1: my own brilliance. Now you also have five tips to
- 25:47Speaker 1: bank roll your break. Yeah, now that's the four pas.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Rights for peace is different. No no no, no no
- 25:54Speaker 1: no no no. Used to be quiet, everybody. The four
- 26:00Speaker 1: these is passion, proficiency, problem solving it in process. Okay,
- 26:05Speaker 1: now you have five tips to bank roll your brilliance
- 26:07Speaker 1: I know you, I know you have an interview with
- 26:09Speaker 1: somebody like me. Just prepared. I'm prepared when I got
- 26:12Speaker 1: on the phone with a person like y'all. I've done
- 26:14Speaker 1: my homework. You know I'm not going around here. This
- 26:16Speaker 1: is in r J Enterprise, the premier training and talent
- 26:19Speaker 1: development company dedicating help and you bank roll your brilliance. Okay, yes,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. I love it so yes,
- 26:25Speaker 1: So five tips to back of your parents. Also, we
- 26:27Speaker 1: talked about Look, we've talked about this so much that
- 26:30Speaker 1: if y'all don't get this lesson by now, stop giving
- 26:32Speaker 1: away your intellectual property for free. Yes, you know oftentimes
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'm on podcasts or interviews like this and they talked
- 26:39Speaker 1: to me about the side hustle, and I go, Nope,
- 26:40Speaker 1: I don't call it a side hustle because if you
- 26:42Speaker 1: look up hustle in the dictionary, it has pimp and
- 26:44Speaker 1: prostitute in the definition. And I'm not trying to have
- 26:47Speaker 1: you pimp your gift. Hello, right, but many of us are,
- 26:50Speaker 1: many of you that are listening, are pimping your gift
- 26:52Speaker 1: when someone says that you, who can I run this
- 26:54Speaker 1: past you? Oh? Can I pick your brain? You're giving
- 26:56Speaker 1: away your intellectual property for free or Steve people say
- 27:00Speaker 1: you're giving away your cookie for free? Hello? Right? Three
- 27:04Speaker 1: books later, right right? And then the second one once
- 27:10Speaker 1: you get clear on what your intellectual property is. And
- 27:12Speaker 1: again that's the four piece that I walked you through.
- 27:14Speaker 1: You've got to build your business with the blueprint. You
- 27:17Speaker 1: can't just do whatever went ever, however, you've got to
- 27:20Speaker 1: have strategy, just like they do when they have a house.
- 27:23Speaker 1: When you building a house, you the your your construction
- 27:26Speaker 1: folk will tell you to do a blueprint first. You
- 27:29Speaker 1: got to do the same thing in your business and
- 27:30Speaker 1: that blueprint should be built from your brilliant or intellectual property.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Let me keep going through my five keep going. The
- 27:39Speaker 1: third one is what you ain't gonna do is I
- 27:43Speaker 1: say five, you stop it to come on now, as
- 27:46Speaker 1: much as you are, you ain't sure, Look shout. I
- 27:50Speaker 1: can talk for the next five hour to make a
- 27:52Speaker 1: sure because I got tired it to okay. Number one,
- 27:56Speaker 1: stop giving away your intellectual property for free. Number two,
- 27:59Speaker 1: build your bill. This is with a blueprint first. Number
- 28:01Speaker 1: three and number three is you got to move past
- 28:04Speaker 1: marketing and begin to build your no like and trust factor.
- 28:07Speaker 1: So let me tell you what I mean. Right, so
- 28:09Speaker 1: many people you can buy the latest marketing program. Right,
- 28:12Speaker 1: you can buy the latest marketing you can hire a
- 28:14Speaker 1: marketing coach. If you're not clear on your brilliance, then
- 28:18Speaker 1: what you're doing is you're becoming a cookie cutter. You're
- 28:20Speaker 1: like becoming a steparate wife in your business. And aintybody
- 28:22Speaker 1: got time for that, right, So instead, I'd like to
- 28:25Speaker 1: call it dating. You want to date your ideal client
- 28:28Speaker 1: in your business. So I like to use an example
- 28:31Speaker 1: when my husband and I went on our first date.
- 28:33Speaker 1: If that brother would have brought my ring to the
- 28:35Speaker 1: first date, I would have been calling my girlfriend like, girl,
- 28:37Speaker 1: please come give me this man. That's crazy. But so
- 28:39Speaker 1: many of us do that when we think, oh, I'm
- 28:41Speaker 1: gonna put up my website and I'm gonna put up
- 28:43Speaker 1: a sales page and people just gonna buy. We don't
- 28:45Speaker 1: know you, Hilaire. Right. They've got to start building ways
- 28:48Speaker 1: for people to get to see the value that you
- 28:51Speaker 1: bring into their life for their business. And I call
- 28:53Speaker 1: that dating. Even in your business, you're dating your ideal clients.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I mean some free things. You're gonna give away some
- 28:57Speaker 1: things for free before you put a ring on it,
- 28:59Speaker 1: which is pay you to hire you, and a lot
- 29:02Speaker 1: of people understand that you don't have to get paid
- 29:05Speaker 1: for everything and achieving your goals, right, but you've got
- 29:09Speaker 1: to let people see who you are. Just because somebody
- 29:11Speaker 1: hears me today doesn't mean I'm gonna hire her. No,
- 29:14Speaker 1: you might think it was she real or does she
- 29:15Speaker 1: really know what she's doing? So I've got to allow
- 29:17Speaker 1: you to experience me in order same way. That's why
- 29:21Speaker 1: you date. Because one if my husband was bringing this
- 29:23Speaker 1: representative to the days, at some point I would have
- 29:25Speaker 1: seen through the representative and said, brother, this ain't write something.
- 29:29Speaker 1: It's not right that you should have multiple trees of
- 29:34Speaker 1: income and one show should include money making while you yes,
- 29:40Speaker 1: because at the end of the day, if you only
- 29:41Speaker 1: are doing things where you have to be president. I
- 29:43Speaker 1: said this earlier, you're already capping off how much money
- 29:46Speaker 1: you make. So what I like to use it as
- 29:48Speaker 1: an example. A couple of years ago, between Thanksgiving and Christmas,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I'm usually pretty slow just because I like to travel,
- 29:54Speaker 1: and so this particular year I traveled more than I
- 29:56Speaker 1: usually do between again Thanksgiving Christmas. So I went to Rome,
- 29:59Speaker 1: to Barcelo on to Dallas to Denver and to Montigo Bay, Jamaica,
- 30:05Speaker 1: and all of that in a month, and in my
- 30:07Speaker 1: business still generated eighty seven thousand dollars and I was
- 30:09Speaker 1: not present. So you've got to look at how can
- 30:12Speaker 1: you take your intellectual property, how can you be the
- 30:15Speaker 1: answer to the people that need you, and how you
- 30:17Speaker 1: package that so they can work with you, and whether
- 30:19Speaker 1: it be online or some other way where again you're
- 30:22Speaker 1: not present, And then that's been not leasing a step
- 30:26Speaker 1: outside your comfort zone. Yes, because here's the thing. Comfort
- 30:30Speaker 1: zones is where dreams go to die. And I say
- 30:35Speaker 1: that because in order for you to do the thing
- 30:37Speaker 1: that you really really want, you're gonna have to do it. Afraid.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Let's ask listen, if we had Steve, if you on
- 30:43Speaker 1: here right now and he was living in his car,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you think he loved living in his car? Heck to him.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I'm sure Sean. I could tell the stories from back
- 30:48Speaker 1: then when Steve was living in his car, or Tyler
- 30:50Speaker 1: Perry or even there. I say Oprah who left her
- 30:53Speaker 1: twenty five years of her phenomenal TV show to start
- 30:55Speaker 1: a TV network, and most of us forget that that
