- 0:47Speaker 1: living your own. My guest is a renowned real estate
- 0:50Speaker 1: investor and financial expert and creator of the re Wealth
- 0:53Speaker 1: Creation Summit. Please welcome their Money Making Conversation Masterclass. Pastor
- 0:58Speaker 1: Dexter BJK. How do you doing to say?
- 1:01Speaker 2: I'm excited to be here? Man? Finally were we able
- 1:04Speaker 2: to get this thing together?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Well? We find up because we talked about money and
- 1:09Speaker 1: I said some really prominent things. Renown Realty Inksperred.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Where you're based at Pastor Jenkins. I am at Boston, Massachusetts,
- 1:20Speaker 2: born and raised there. No born and raised in New Avon, Connecticut,
- 1:23Speaker 2: and got to Boston on a basketball scholarship at Northeastern University,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and you ended up getting married and staying at a place.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So I've been here. I came, I hit Boston in
- 1:36Speaker 2: nineteen eighty seven and have been stuck here ever since.
- 1:39Speaker 1: We'ren't a good stuck law. Championships have been through that
- 1:42Speaker 1: town since eighty seven.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That was including unfortunately I'm a knicked fan stuck in Boughton.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well, we gotta go back to seventy.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Two, fifty seventy three that we wanted three. So it's
- 1:55Speaker 2: been a while.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you for the correction that I represent Steven A.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Smith so revised me every year. Yes, the lack of
- 2:04Speaker 1: championships by the New York Knicks. Now, when we talk
- 2:08Speaker 1: about what you do, what do you do for a living.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm a full time pastor, but then I
- 2:16Speaker 2: also run a financial literacy company, and then I also
- 2:20Speaker 2: run a real estate investment company. So you know, I
- 2:24Speaker 2: tell people I really flowed the intersection of faith, finance
- 2:29Speaker 2: and business, and I've done that. Man probably for the
- 2:32Speaker 2: last three decades of doing that, you know. So that's
- 2:36Speaker 2: that's that's who I am.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Well, you know, it's really important to I bring that
- 2:39Speaker 1: up to try to establish your brand, your voice, your
- 2:43Speaker 1: level of expert. Now we always know that they say that,
- 2:46Speaker 1: you know, you can't grow new land, you know, so
- 2:49Speaker 1: when you buy land, it's one of the top investments.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Talk about the whole real estate tone that people keep
- 2:58Speaker 1: throwing out there about five don't rent by don't rent, Right,
- 3:02Speaker 1: it's the equity that you're trying to build in your
- 3:05Speaker 1: family and the foundation of generational wealth. Talk to us, right.
- 3:08Speaker 2: But I think Rashaan, that real estate is what I
- 3:12Speaker 2: call the lowest hanging fruit on the wealth creation tree,
- 3:15Speaker 2: Meaning there was a treat ourself wealth creation, and a
- 3:19Speaker 2: person wanted to learn how to build wealth, it would
- 3:22Speaker 2: probably be the easiest way to do that until you
- 3:25Speaker 2: open the statement. More than that, the fact that we're
- 3:28Speaker 2: not building any more anymore, land is not being made.
- 3:31Speaker 2: In fact, God not making any more of that. And
- 3:33Speaker 2: so I just think that one of the one of
- 3:36Speaker 2: the simplest ways for individuals to get involved and build
- 3:40Speaker 2: well is kill real estate. And historically that has been
- 3:43Speaker 2: the case. You know, so either people have gathered their
- 3:46Speaker 2: wealth through real estate or they've gotten wealth they've invested
- 3:50Speaker 2: in it. And so it's just it's just a phenomenal
- 3:53Speaker 2: way for people to and particular people who look like us,
- 3:55Speaker 2: you know. And when I talk with people, I said, look,
- 3:57Speaker 2: our people came here to work their land, now for
- 4:00Speaker 2: us to own.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It, right, A beautiful quote. Now, when I got your
- 4:04Speaker 1: series of questions Pastor Jenkins, real estate expert, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 1: found their creator of their re wealth creation summer, the
- 4:12Speaker 1: question said, how could a person in their fifties get
- 4:16Speaker 1: wealth quickly?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Quickly?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Come out about quickly?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Now, it was that, well, well, I'm sure a lot
- 4:24Speaker 2: of your people are over fifty like me, cup I
- 4:27Speaker 2: just turned fifty six a couple of weeks ago, and
- 4:29Speaker 2: so I got a lot of people that what you know,
- 4:31Speaker 2: because what we what people have fifty think is that
- 4:35Speaker 2: in many respect that they should be uh sort of
- 4:39Speaker 2: kicking back a little bit. And I'm saying you should
- 4:41Speaker 2: be ramping up in your fifties and your sixty because
- 4:43Speaker 2: you you have a you have a life full of
- 4:47Speaker 2: knowledge that you know you can manufacture into whether it's
- 4:51Speaker 2: some course or some sort of teaching or whatever else.
- 4:53Speaker 2: So I think, really, what you got to do in
- 4:55Speaker 2: your fifties is do an assessment of where you are,
- 4:58Speaker 2: where you want to go, and more portly with sha
- 5:01Speaker 2: what you have done, and then find a way to
- 5:03Speaker 2: monetize that. And so, you know, I think you know
- 5:07Speaker 2: because my congregation, I have a number of people who
- 5:10Speaker 2: are in their fifties and sixties, and I'm always on
- 5:12Speaker 2: them and like, man, it's not time for you to
- 5:13Speaker 2: sit back on the porch. It's your time for not
- 5:16Speaker 2: to retire, but to refire, meaning get excited about something
- 5:19Speaker 2: else that you can bring to the marketplace. And as
- 5:22Speaker 2: you do that, you know you can you can make
- 5:24Speaker 2: some money doing that and build some work for yourself.
- 5:27Speaker 1: But you know, let's talk about the falsehoods of retirement,
- 5:30Speaker 1: especially when they come to the government and social Security.
- 5:33Speaker 1: A lot of people believe there's a check waiting on
- 5:36Speaker 1: them that the government will provide to them through Social Security, right,
- 5:41Speaker 1: will take care of everything. How do you push past
- 5:44Speaker 1: that basic lie?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Right? Well, I just do the simple math. I live
- 5:50Speaker 2: in Massachusetts, in Boston. I don't know where you are,
- 5:52Speaker 2: but I'm in Boston. I think the average Social Security
- 5:57Speaker 2: check is around fourteen hundred dollars a month. Right, you
- 6:01Speaker 2: can't live nowhere in Boston for fourteen hundred dolls month
- 6:04Speaker 2: in America, you know, you can't. You can't live no
- 6:08Speaker 2: place in you know, most of most of America for
- 6:11Speaker 2: fourteen hundred dollars a month. And so once you will
- 6:13Speaker 2: to begin to get people to see, hey, you know
- 6:15Speaker 2: what Social Security really was designed for is a really
- 6:19Speaker 2: outdated model of income meeting that there was X amount
- 6:23Speaker 2: of people who would provide for folks who are in
- 6:26Speaker 2: retirement and that, and it's just our dated model. So
- 6:29Speaker 2: really what we got to do is this, We've got
- 6:31Speaker 2: to shift our dependency off of other entities and put
- 6:33Speaker 2: it on ourselves, recognizing that I'm I'm the assets as
- 6:38Speaker 2: as you're talking about just being a master class where
- 6:40Speaker 2: where we're trying to get out the fact that listen,
- 6:43Speaker 2: it's not the real estate, it's not the stock, it's
- 6:45Speaker 2: not the crypto, it's you. And if you learn how
- 6:48Speaker 2: to really mind what God has placed on the inside
- 6:51Speaker 2: of you and learn how to monetize it, you know
- 6:54Speaker 2: you won't have to worry about sociecurity because you'll be good.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, So let's listen up everybody who's watching it a
- 7:00Speaker 1: listening to this episode of Money Making Conversations Master Class.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You've heard pastors then can say, fourteen hundred dollars is
- 7:08Speaker 1: the average check for Social Security retirement. That's if you
- 7:11Speaker 1: take it in sixty five. If you take it earlier
- 7:14Speaker 1: than that is smaller. So you can still get there.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You can still have a plan to get there. That's
- 7:21Speaker 1: what they show us about. That's why we're talking to
- 7:23Speaker 1: him about plans to make you have a comfortable life
- 7:27Speaker 1: when you quote unquote retire. But I like what you said,
- 7:30Speaker 1: Pastor Jacob, it's not time to retire, it's time to refire.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So what plan of action do you put in place
- 7:37Speaker 1: for people who are basically maybe even giving up?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think you have to start there. All
- 7:45Speaker 2: of this and you know this, and that's why you're
- 7:47Speaker 2: doing these math class It's about mindset, and I think
- 7:50Speaker 2: a lot of times we're dealing with people who have
- 7:56Speaker 2: to have to deal with what I call the inner
- 7:59Speaker 2: game of wealth and the in the game of what
- 8:01Speaker 2: it really deals with your beliefs around money, how you
- 8:05Speaker 2: think about it, how you feel about it, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and an ununfortunate a lot of things that we learned
- 8:09Speaker 2: and maybe and in churches or maybe a mama's house
- 8:12Speaker 2: or whatever is wrong orbout money and so you got
- 8:15Speaker 2: to get people to renew their my injury wire they're
- 8:17Speaker 2: thinking around finances. Then we can begin to start talking
- 8:21Speaker 2: about Okay, what vehicle are you going to use? So okay,
- 8:24Speaker 2: now my mind is being renewed around money, right, but
- 8:27Speaker 2: then I need to find a vehicle. So is it entrepreneurship,
- 8:30Speaker 2: is it real estate? It has to be something you know.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And so really getting people to really really rishond and
- 8:38Speaker 2: tap into this thing called leverage, you have to create
- 8:40Speaker 2: some sort of leverage going forward. And so that's what
- 8:44Speaker 2: we talk about most of the done.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That's important to say because I'm working through these steps
- 8:49Speaker 1: and need people to stay engaged with this interview. By
- 8:52Speaker 1: saying we started out of real estate stuff we passed
- 8:56Speaker 1: by on the regular basis, houses, faking LODs, places you
- 9:00Speaker 1: might stay. How does one start the real estate gain
- 9:05Speaker 1: not that much money?
- 9:06Speaker 2: Right? Well, it all starts with education and to two things.
- 9:09Speaker 2: When I'm talking to people about raising their income level
- 9:14Speaker 2: making more money, there are two things they gotta do.
- 9:16Speaker 2: They gotta raise their awareness of Number one, what they're
- 9:20Speaker 2: able to do. And then number two, they really probably
- 9:22Speaker 2: won't have to develop a new skill of some sort.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So that ties into educating yourself. And so if you're
- 9:29Speaker 2: interested in real estate, what I begin to do is
- 9:32Speaker 2: have people. Man, you can go to YouTube and start
- 9:34Speaker 2: looking at that stuff you can get on podcasts, and
- 9:36Speaker 2: so just begin to your class, you know, just begin
- 9:40Speaker 2: to get your minds. I keep coming back to this
- 9:44Speaker 2: word mindset. It has to go before anything. We talk
- 9:48Speaker 2: about first getting my mind right. I mean, even talking
- 9:51Speaker 2: about what you and I caking about. People don't want
- 9:53Speaker 2: to talk about money. They're very uncomfortable about even having
- 9:56Speaker 2: conversations about money, you know what I mean. So I
- 10:01Speaker 2: start there, and then now we begin to talk about, Okay,
- 10:04Speaker 2: what's my education? So am I going to start reading books,
- 10:09Speaker 2: going to seven dollars, doing those type of things which
- 10:10Speaker 2: you really need to do. And then now you begin
- 10:13Speaker 2: to pick a track. So okay, back to real estate.
- 10:15Speaker 2: So I now begin to say, okay, am I a
- 10:17Speaker 2: real estate investor who wants to maybe fix and flip
- 10:20Speaker 2: like I see on TV? Or do I want to
- 10:22Speaker 2: buy and hold? Or do I want a wholesale or
- 10:25Speaker 2: do I want to be do a little bit of everything.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And so once once you begin to get the education
- 10:31Speaker 2: right and then really get a track as to what
- 10:33Speaker 2: really fits your personality because it's not a one size
- 10:36Speaker 2: fits all, right, then you go from there.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It was really important as we talk about real estate,
- 10:41Speaker 1: we talk about financial that you created the we wealth
- 10:45Speaker 1: and right could the word read is in front of wealth?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Why is there?
- 10:50Speaker 2: Well, well it's the r really is is the real
- 10:52Speaker 2: Estate Wealth Creation Summit. And then my my publisher, she
- 10:57Speaker 2: p Period. You know, she's put the ra a man
- 10:59Speaker 2: just to make it sure, but we really put that
- 11:02Speaker 2: summer together for the last we've done it the last
- 11:04Speaker 2: two years. And where you doing at We do it
- 11:08Speaker 2: in Boston. We've do it in Boston. So last the
- 11:10Speaker 2: first year we had about thirty some of our people.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Last year we had about sixty. And then we had
- 11:14Speaker 2: a virtual component toul so that people from Detroit in
- 11:17Speaker 2: different areas watching it. But it really was to bring
- 11:20Speaker 2: people together. Rashana talk about one thing, how do we
- 11:23Speaker 2: use real estate as a wealth creation tool? That's it,
- 11:27Speaker 2: And so the whole day centered around that thought process
- 11:31Speaker 2: and then exposing people to the different ways to do
- 11:34Speaker 2: you know, so some do it through fixing and flipping.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Some do it through buy and hole, some do it
- 11:40Speaker 2: through they don't want to have nothing to do with
- 11:41Speaker 2: fixing them toys. But what they'll do, they'll they have
- 11:43Speaker 2: money to invest it. So we brought all that together
- 11:47Speaker 2: in order to have people to do that and then
- 11:49Speaker 2: to give them some coaching after that, because you know,
- 11:52Speaker 2: it's all about it's almost like sometimes people go to
- 11:55Speaker 2: the either a church or even get really excited, but
- 11:57Speaker 2: then they don't have anyone to hold their hand the
- 12:00Speaker 2: it started. And so you know, we put together some
- 12:02Speaker 2: program helping to do that.
- 12:04Speaker 1: How can we get in touch.
- 12:05Speaker 2: With you if you go to Dexterbijenkins dot com. Uh,
- 12:10Speaker 2: and then you know, uh, actually what they do. First
- 12:13Speaker 2: of all they'll do is they'll get a copy of
- 12:16Speaker 2: what we talked about the ship method, so either the
- 12:19Speaker 2: head or of the foot or there's a green button
- 12:21Speaker 2: if they smashed that, uh, that will give them my
- 12:24Speaker 2: e book. And then also they they'll all the information
- 12:27Speaker 2: will be right there.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Now the ship method. You brought it up, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 1: kind of jumped to guy right past you on Fly.
- 12:34Speaker 2: We brought it up there.
- 12:36Speaker 1: On Fly we talked were not he's gonna bring a
- 12:38Speaker 1: on flying conversation into the interview. We talked about it earlier,
- 12:42Speaker 1: No we did not.
- 12:43Speaker 2: What it is the ship method, sir, Yeah, yeah, well,
- 12:46Speaker 2: well the ship method is uh, you know, I'm now
- 12:50Speaker 2: you guys do a pastor, but I'm a firm believer
- 12:52Speaker 2: that the Bible is more than just a religious book.
- 12:55Speaker 2: It's a success man. So if you look at the
- 12:58Speaker 2: Book of Proverbs, and the book will eclesiastics, it has
- 13:02Speaker 2: information in there that deals with living, including money from
- 13:06Speaker 2: the wealthiers man who have lived called King Salamon. So
- 13:09Speaker 2: as I've read through the Proverbs, because what I do
- 13:11Speaker 2: is I recommend everybody read at least one chapter in
- 13:14Speaker 2: the Book of Proverbs every day, so just thirty one chapters.
- 13:17Speaker 2: If you read one chapter a day, you'd be through
- 13:19Speaker 2: the Book of Proverbs throughout and you know, throughout the month.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And so as I did that, as I've done that
- 13:24Speaker 2: with Sean prow for the last twenty plus years. And
- 13:27Speaker 2: so as I've done that, you I begin to look
- 13:30Speaker 2: at these three themes that Solomon talked about when it
- 13:33Speaker 2: came to when it comes to building wealth. Number one
- 13:35Speaker 2: is stewardship, say jip So, meaning if a person is
- 13:40Speaker 2: able to stewart their money, well, they'll do well financially.
- 13:44Speaker 2: So stewart you mean. But stewardship is simply you give
- 13:46Speaker 2: you your money, direction, tell me what to do. That's
- 13:48Speaker 2: what stewardship is.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Secondly, it's ownership, meaning do you own the right thing?
- 13:54Speaker 2: Now all of us own something, but is it the
- 13:56Speaker 2: right things? And so really getting people to all the
- 13:59Speaker 2: things that produce two things with sean cash flow and
- 14:06Speaker 2: appreciation value. So if I can begin to accumulate those
- 14:09Speaker 2: things that either appreciate and value and produce cash flow,
- 14:13Speaker 2: I'm owning the right things. And then the last one
- 14:16Speaker 2: is entrepreneurship. You know, so South a lot about owning
- 14:20Speaker 2: your own business. Now. I don't know if entrepreneurship is
- 14:23Speaker 2: for everybody, but I do believe the first two of everybody.
- 14:27Speaker 2: You got to learn how to stooge your money right,
- 14:28Speaker 2: tell it what to do, give it directions, don't it'll
- 14:32Speaker 2: it got a mile of his own. And then I've
- 14:34Speaker 2: got to own the right things. Our people, we are,
- 14:38Speaker 2: we are phenomenal consumers.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
- 14:45Speaker 3: money making conversations, masterclass. Welcome back to the money Making
- 14:55Speaker 3: Conversations Masterclass hosted by Rashaan McDonald. Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 15:01Speaker 3: continues online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow money Making
- 15:06Speaker 3: Conversations Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Now when we talk about all this and start breaking
- 15:12Speaker 1: the doe, because you're breaking the die right now, because
- 15:15Speaker 1: we hear Bart thinking that Yogola has a theory about
- 15:19Speaker 1: buying black to block, Mike Epps and his wife buying
- 15:22Speaker 1: back the block, as these brothers in the Houston, Texas,
- 15:25Speaker 1: the neighborhood I grew up in Fifth Ward buying back
- 15:28Speaker 1: the block. Now when I hear you, real estate African
- 15:31Speaker 1: American man up in Boston area, what is your thoughts
- 15:34Speaker 1: when you hear these presentations of these projects about buying
- 15:38Speaker 1: black blocks within the African American community.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I think it goes back to what you said earlier.
- 15:45Speaker 2: You mentioned that no more land is being created, right,
- 15:49Speaker 2: you know, I mean companies are being created, crypto and
- 15:53Speaker 2: all that stuff is always being created and manipulated. But
- 15:55Speaker 2: land it's always there. And I'll go back to what
- 15:58Speaker 2: I said earlier. Our people bought here to work the lane.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Now it's time for us to own the lane.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:05Speaker 2: So I'm a farm I'm a proponent of us owning
- 16:10Speaker 2: where we live, because only where we work, owning where
- 16:14Speaker 2: we go to church.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Right, Because the reason I'm being because you got a congregation.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm just challenging you with some broadcasts, you know, because
- 16:21Speaker 1: that means that you have a group of people who
- 16:22Speaker 1: can possibly pull money together. And because I know that works,
- 16:27Speaker 1: I do know that I missed out on an opportunity
- 16:30Speaker 1: in Houston, Texas and in their community called third Ward.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Now you buy back a block. You go in, ladies
- 16:36Speaker 1: and gentlemen, these houses are way wonefully under value, and
- 16:41Speaker 1: you go down to the city if they want you
- 16:43Speaker 1: to upgrade these communities. Because you upgrade the communities, they
- 16:46Speaker 1: are more property tax. That's what going back the community
- 16:49Speaker 1: is all about, upgrading the property tax, because that's the
- 16:52Speaker 1: only way you're going to improve school education for your
- 16:55Speaker 1: kids is by raising the property tax of your home
- 16:59Speaker 1: that you live in or the dwellings all the community
- 17:02Speaker 1: you live in. And So when I say that, is
- 17:04Speaker 1: this something that's been in your mind that you thought
- 17:07Speaker 1: about doing in the Bolshon area.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I've thought about doing it in the Bosonaria. But I
- 17:12Speaker 2: also have thought about doing it in New Heavy Connecticut,
- 17:14Speaker 2: where I'm from. A real ride, you know what I mean,
- 17:17Speaker 2: Because I drive around. My dad passed last August, and
- 17:21Speaker 2: so I inherited some property from him, two pieces of
- 17:24Speaker 2: property that he had paid off. And my dad that
- 17:28Speaker 2: was a big thing to him. That was a legacy
- 17:30Speaker 2: move for him, because I believe in every man part
- 17:35Speaker 2: of his legacies, not only how he lives, but what
- 17:37Speaker 2: he leaves behind. Got it and so it was important
- 17:42Speaker 2: for him to leave myself properly. I'm an only child.
- 17:44Speaker 2: And then as I'm driving around the city and I'm
- 17:47Speaker 2: noticing all of these properties that are dilapidated, or I'm
- 17:51Speaker 2: noticing all of these areas that if they just got
- 17:54Speaker 2: what I call so love, they were appreciate in value.
- 17:57Speaker 2: But a lot of times because of people have lived
- 18:01Speaker 2: there so long, they miss it, right, you know what
- 18:05Speaker 2: I mean, You could get close to something, and so
- 18:09Speaker 2: I believe it's a phenomenalon any city I go to.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I was in My wife and I were in Puerto
- 18:14Speaker 2: Rico last week on vacation with our youngest daughter. And
- 18:17Speaker 2: I'm in Puerto Rico and I'm looking at all these
- 18:19Speaker 2: dilapidated buildings based off of the last hurricane that came there.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And so any city I go to, I bet you
- 18:27Speaker 2: I could take you to a place, and I could
- 18:28Speaker 2: pick out one or two places. I said, you know what,
- 18:31Speaker 2: and based off I was in Detroit last summer, same thing.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I'm in downtown to church and my son. I drove
- 18:37Speaker 2: a couple of minutes outside Detroit and I saw all
- 18:39Speaker 2: these neighborhoods. And if you know anything about the path
- 18:41Speaker 2: of progression, usually things come from down downtown and go
- 18:45Speaker 2: out there.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yes, it does.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And so if you can get those properties ahead of
- 18:50Speaker 2: time and get a sense of what the city is
- 18:52Speaker 2: gonna do, and any any area that you live in
- 18:55Speaker 2: people listening to us and listen to all over the players,
- 18:57Speaker 2: if you can find out what the city's gonna do
- 18:59Speaker 2: and get ahead of that, they have the check for
- 19:02Speaker 2: you to build wealth.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That way, Yeah, we're having to rewealth somebody on this
- 19:06Speaker 1: show right now. Pass because I want to challenge people,
- 19:11Speaker 1: because you're absolutely right, their properties in certain cities, big
- 19:15Speaker 1: cities that you could buy for a.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Dollar even exactly you're going to rework it and raise
- 19:20Speaker 2: the value of their property because they know they're not
- 19:25Speaker 2: going to do anything with it.
- 19:27Speaker 1: So it's up to us now, Like you said, the
- 19:29Speaker 1: mindset and the research. That's where it comes from. Because
- 19:33Speaker 1: of the fact that I do this show and it's
- 19:36Speaker 1: about the secrets of success, and when I'm listening to you,
- 19:41Speaker 1: it seems like it's about the mindset, it's about the motivation.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Tell us in detail your secrets of success when you're
- 19:48Speaker 1: talking to people about wealth building, right.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Well, my mind, my mindset goes back to my father, right,
- 19:57Speaker 2: you know, my dad wants to properties. Yes, yes, I
- 20:00Speaker 2: mean just in general, you know. I I've grown up
- 20:02Speaker 2: in a family where entrepreneurship real estate only was just
- 20:08Speaker 2: what we did, you know. And so I'm so I'm
- 20:12Speaker 2: very fortunate in that fact that I grew up around that.
- 20:14Speaker 2: My first business school was a barbershop. So I saw
- 20:18Speaker 2: men and women, you know, standing there with a dream
- 20:21Speaker 2: in their heart and clippers in their hands, build something,
- 20:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And so so I've always
- 20:28Speaker 2: I've always operated like that. And what has been a
- 20:31Speaker 2: large frustration for me dealing with maybe as a pastor
- 20:34Speaker 2: and other people I deal with, is that you know,
- 20:36Speaker 2: they don't they don't see that, but I go it
- 20:38Speaker 2: goes back to I guess, okay, that shul This has
- 20:41Speaker 2: been your lifestyle from the womb almost, which is you.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Know, which is all Traditionally white people are able to
- 20:49Speaker 1: succeed because they're not. It's that foreign to their level
- 20:53Speaker 1: of thinking.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and and and it's so much of you know,
- 20:58Speaker 2: we have to get people desire level up. Yes, yes, yes,
- 21:03Speaker 2: a lot of times if you don't desire this, that's
- 21:06Speaker 2: why I love That's why I love the name of
- 21:07Speaker 2: your show is you got to get people to desire
- 21:10Speaker 2: to make money. Yes, and if you don't have it,
- 21:12Speaker 2: you don't have a desire for it. Man, we could
- 21:14Speaker 2: talk all day long, so you know, we we we
- 21:17Speaker 2: That's why I'm so much on mindset. I'm on so
- 21:19Speaker 2: much on desire, so much on you deserve more. Don't
- 21:23Speaker 2: you believe you should have more?
- 21:25Speaker 1: You know, the fire the mindset to.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Get that, that's the motivation. I mean, you know this.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You know, if somebody cooks a play of food and
- 21:35Speaker 2: you're not hungry, it'll sit right there.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Right But I take that plate of food, put in
- 21:40Speaker 1: a refrigerator and we eat it the next day. That's
- 21:44Speaker 1: the mindset of understanding value. Yeah, like you said, people
- 21:48Speaker 1: drive through the communities that they live in complaining about opportunity,
- 21:53Speaker 1: and they oftentime are on a bus driving past opportunity,
- 21:57Speaker 1: saving that money a little bit of time because everybody
- 22:00Speaker 1: wants to win the lotto instead of gradually getting there
- 22:04Speaker 1: with an understanding, understated plan. And that's that's what we're
- 22:07Speaker 1: talking about right now. And how we were we were
- 22:10Speaker 1: out summit on Money Made Conversations, Master hosts, guy past
- 22:14Speaker 1: the desk could be Jenis I got I got credit
- 22:20Speaker 1: because the fact that when we come out the box,
- 22:24Speaker 1: I oftentimes gets frustrated because the fact that I'm African
- 22:28Speaker 1: American and I see so many people who dream big
- 22:32Speaker 1: but out of plan. And you were in the congregation,
- 22:35Speaker 1: You're in there, you were the God business where people
- 22:39Speaker 1: pray but don't do the work. Watch out Now, that
- 22:45Speaker 1: could be frustrating because I see it on the economic side.
- 22:49Speaker 1: You see it on the spiritual side. Talk to us, yes, well.
- 22:52Speaker 2: And and and you hit the nail on head because
- 22:55Speaker 2: God is a business person. People. People don't get that
- 23:00Speaker 2: that God is a business plan. You know, Salvation was
- 23:03Speaker 2: a plan. Well, everything about God is business and having
- 23:07Speaker 2: a plan and through sometime you know what we have,
- 23:11Speaker 2: what we have failed to do is we have aspirations
- 23:14Speaker 2: and dreams, but we failed to sit down, like I said,
- 23:18Speaker 2: like I like to say, sit eye, happy, hips down
- 23:22Speaker 2: plank because it's in the planning and you're putting that
- 23:26Speaker 2: plan of the action that dreams come to past, you
- 23:29Speaker 2: know what I mean. And so if you don't have
- 23:31Speaker 2: a desire, if you don't have a plan, if you
- 23:34Speaker 2: don't get the education and stuff that you need in
- 23:37Speaker 2: order to bring the past, it'll be it'll be just
- 23:39Speaker 2: a dream, you know. And so I'm always pushing cong
- 23:43Speaker 2: of my congregants. I'm always pushing the people that you know,
- 23:46Speaker 2: I'm talking to you about, Hey, it's good enough to
- 23:48Speaker 2: have to just good to have to dream, but then
- 23:50Speaker 2: I got to have some practical steps that get me
- 23:52Speaker 2: from A to B.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Awesome. Now, you have another book coming out, you know
- 23:57Speaker 1: in the summertime, talking talk to us about your new
- 23:59Speaker 1: book and.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's called The Real Estate Wealth Creation Blueprint,
- 24:07Speaker 2: And it's all about what we've been talking about, how
- 24:10Speaker 2: do we use real estate as a wealth creation too
- 24:12Speaker 2: and put together a simple blueprint to do that, you know.
- 24:16Speaker 2: And so it's all about what my wife and I
- 24:18Speaker 2: have done since twenty seventeen as real estate developers. You
- 24:21Speaker 2: know what I've learned as a kid, you know, through
- 24:23Speaker 2: watching my dad and other real estate individuals, and really
- 24:27Speaker 2: it's a tool to really to inspire and get people
- 24:29Speaker 2: to desire to become wealthy number one, but the number
- 24:32Speaker 2: two to use real estate as a primary creation too
- 24:35Speaker 2: for themselves.
- 24:36Speaker 1: We know I wouldn't thank you for coming on the show.
- 24:38Speaker 1: I always feel that when I sit down, I don't
- 24:41Speaker 1: know everything, Pastor Jenkins, but I'm willing to learn everything correct,
- 24:47Speaker 1: because that's important to consume information and not deny yourself
- 24:51Speaker 1: just because that's not your laying of opportunity, and so
- 24:55Speaker 1: many people forget that you get and and you grow
- 24:59Speaker 1: by learning things you don't know versus sometimes trying to
- 25:03Speaker 1: understand the things that you do know. Got to expand,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and that's what you're talking about, expanding your wealth to
- 25:08Speaker 1: real estate. Mindset, refire if you're over fifty and don't
- 25:14Speaker 1: settle for the outcome that everybody told you is waiting note.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Correct correct, one hundred percent.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Thank you, my brother. Well appreciate you coming on with
