Public Media Layoffs, Todd Rokita Threatens "Sanctuary City" Lawsuits, Wetlands Permit Denied, Efforts to Decriminalize Fentanyl Test Strips

Two public media news organizations serving local and statewide news in Indiana announced plans last week to cut staff. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is threatening to sue three cities and a county for what he claims are violations of the state’s ban on “sanctuary cities.” The Indiana Department of Environmental Management denied a permit application to turn wetlands in Marion County into a retail complex last week. Fentanyl test strips are a common tool used to prevent overdose deaths, but Indiana law is unclear about whether or not the small strips of paper are legal to use.
