- 1:57Speaker 1: you to you the listener about career, f natural planning, entrepreneurship, motivation, leadership,
- 2:03Speaker 1: overcoming the arts, and how to live a balanced life.
- 2:07Speaker 1: My next guest is a proud native of Inglewood, California.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Eagle Wood She's also the proud owner of that. I
- 2:16Speaker 1: had to say that. I'm sorry, Leo. She's also literally
- 2:20Speaker 1: l a for fifteen years. You're gonna say eagle Wood.
- 2:25Speaker 1: She's also the proud owner of The Girl Cave Los Angeles,
- 2:29Speaker 1: a chain of beauty supply stores and lifestyle brands in
- 2:32Speaker 1: Los Angeles. She's also the owner of a juice bar.
- 2:34Speaker 1: She's a real estate mogul and a former model. Her
- 2:37Speaker 1: hopes are to promote a more realistic standard of beauty
- 2:41Speaker 1: for all women. Please work with the money making conversations.
- 2:43Speaker 1: One of the stars of Bravos, married to Medicine Los
- 2:46Speaker 1: Angeles Leah Diez. Thank you. That's a great introduction. I
- 2:52Speaker 1: love it well. First of all, you know, thank you
- 2:55Speaker 1: for saying that I wanted just it was part of
- 2:58Speaker 1: you wanted for you playing to me a little bit
- 3:00Speaker 1: about you said your hope is to promote a more
- 3:03Speaker 1: realistic standard of beauty for all women. Explains what you
- 3:06Speaker 1: mean by that? Well? For me, I was in the
- 3:10Speaker 1: modeling industry for a while, and I remember being a
- 3:12Speaker 1: young woman and feeling when I got rejected that it
- 3:15Speaker 1: was something wrong with me right like my features and
- 3:18Speaker 1: you know, there's things about me that you know, other
- 3:21Speaker 1: people don't see as beautiful. And so in my stores,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I don't want people to feel like they have to
- 3:26Speaker 1: fit a mold. Like if you like your hair natural,
- 3:29Speaker 1: then we have stuff for you to be natural. If
- 3:31Speaker 1: you wearing weeds and weeds and all of it's fine.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Like there's no one way to be. And so that's
- 3:37Speaker 1: what I try to come across. I want my customers
- 3:39Speaker 1: to pick up in my store and even with my
- 3:41Speaker 1: marketing materials and my advertisement, to make sure that I
- 3:44Speaker 1: cover all spans, all spectrums of what it is to
- 3:46Speaker 1: be a woman. It's not just one thing, you know,
- 3:50Speaker 1: it really is important that you do that, especially in
- 3:52Speaker 1: this era of social media. You know, a day, oh
- 3:55Speaker 1: she just got posted that picture of her losing weighting,
- 3:58Speaker 1: people will on her, you know, like she doesn't have
- 4:01Speaker 1: an option. She she can't change her. She looks exactly
- 4:05Speaker 1: and she to me, she's fabulous either way. But that's
- 4:07Speaker 1: a class sample of her having control. She it's her body.
- 4:11Speaker 1: If she wants to be three hundred pounds or a
- 4:14Speaker 1: hundred and fifty pounds, that's her choice. And so I
- 4:16Speaker 1: just feel like we need to be more mindful, especially
- 4:19Speaker 1: as women, to just embrace who we are and help
- 4:23Speaker 1: other women embraces they are. Well, that's why I wanted
- 4:25Speaker 1: to get that out because I felt when I read
- 4:27Speaker 1: that about you, you know, it was important because of
- 4:29Speaker 1: the fact it wouldn't be in part of part of
- 4:31Speaker 1: your bio, part of your DNA and then being the
- 4:35Speaker 1: or model. You know, that's a very superficial world. You know,
- 4:39Speaker 1: a lot of you read a lot of horror stories
- 4:41Speaker 1: by you know, weight weight issues, and and there's a
- 4:44Speaker 1: short window for success and and there's a lot of
- 4:47Speaker 1: harassment that goes into those levels. And especially when you
- 4:51Speaker 1: come in young and you're just trying to make it.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Sometimes you make decisions that are uncomfortable, that are uncomfortable
- 4:55Speaker 1: for you because you're just trying to get the opportunity.
- 4:58Speaker 1: But it all goes back to how you look, and
- 5:01Speaker 1: that's unfortunate. So when I see a Lizzo jumping out
- 5:04Speaker 1: there and doing her thing and being very comfortable, this
- 5:07Speaker 1: always lets me know it's not so much about And
- 5:10Speaker 1: I have a daughter who's twenty two, and it's important
- 5:12Speaker 1: for her to be herself, you know. And when you
- 5:15Speaker 1: said that statement, I said, I I gotta really expound
- 5:18Speaker 1: on that a lot more because I felt it was
- 5:19Speaker 1: important for you to say this is what you do.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You're in the you're in the beauty lane, you're in
- 5:24Speaker 1: the entertainment lane. You're you're you're stepping out there and
- 5:27Speaker 1: your fans are following you. Your fans are recognizing you
- 5:30Speaker 1: as a model of a brand. That's so a model
- 5:34Speaker 1: for since, or fashion model or makeup model, but a model,
- 5:37Speaker 1: a role model, I should say, a role model. Correct, absolutely, absolutely,
- 5:42Speaker 1: And so I want to be conscientious of that when
- 5:44Speaker 1: I'm promoting my stores and even promoting myself, that I
- 5:48Speaker 1: don't put women in a box, because that's not it's
- 5:50Speaker 1: not fair. No, we're gonna talk about the box in
- 5:53Speaker 1: the minute. That subscription a minute. So don't dump the gun,
- 5:55Speaker 1: don't jump the gun over. Let's talk about it. I
- 5:58Speaker 1: said it in your credit to a broad I was
- 6:00Speaker 1: married to medicine Los Angeles. For my fans who may
- 6:03Speaker 1: have not seen the show, and they are fans who
- 6:05Speaker 1: have seen the show, please explain to everybody what exactly
- 6:08Speaker 1: is married to medicine? And that's one question, and then
- 6:11Speaker 1: i'mnna ask you how did you get involved? God? So,
- 6:14Speaker 1: married to medicine is a concept. UM that was on
- 6:18Speaker 1: the Bravo network. There's a show in Atlanta, been on
- 6:21Speaker 1: the air for eight years, and so recently in the
- 6:23Speaker 1: last two years, Bravo has taken the concept here to
- 6:25Speaker 1: l a UM and it really this is about the
- 6:28Speaker 1: black female positions. Half of the women on the show
- 6:31Speaker 1: are doctors O. B. G. Y n'za and a psiologists
- 6:34Speaker 1: and psychiatrists, and then the other women myself included, we're
- 6:39Speaker 1: married to positions and so you get to see the
- 6:42Speaker 1: world of one medicine but also two black doctors, which
- 6:46Speaker 1: to me is amazing because I don't know any other
- 6:48Speaker 1: show on television that showcases black positions. And it's a
- 6:54Speaker 1: great thing to be a part of. Right, So how
- 6:56Speaker 1: did you get involved? Okay, so Amani who's one of
- 7:00Speaker 1: the ladies on the show here in Los Angeles, doctor money,
- 7:03Speaker 1: she's a psychiatrist. Yes, yes, So they met because they
- 7:09Speaker 1: worked together and so I was through my husband. Okay,
- 7:13Speaker 1: So here's the deal. Okay, so you have a brand
- 7:16Speaker 1: and we hear horror stories, you know, basketball, while I
- 7:19Speaker 1: set a tone out there for what the reality shows
- 7:23Speaker 1: could do, you know, going across table, throwing dishes, grabbing weaves,
- 7:27Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. When you told your friends
- 7:31Speaker 1: and you told your your love one that you may
- 7:33Speaker 1: do this show. What were the thoughts that came out
- 7:35Speaker 1: of their mouths? And then you have to calm them dad?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Or did you have to do you just pitched them
- 7:39Speaker 1: ahead of tip to cut off any let them know
- 7:42Speaker 1: that you're not gonna do anything crazy that they've seen
- 7:45Speaker 1: or they have an idea of what reality shows are doing.
- 7:48Speaker 1: They don't do it as much as they used to
- 7:50Speaker 1: do back in the day, but because I think they're
- 7:51Speaker 1: more storyline driven. But back in the day they were
- 7:54Speaker 1: a horror story. Yeah, there there were, and I'll be
- 7:57Speaker 1: honest with you, there still are some um within this
- 8:00Speaker 1: Bravo Maryson Medicine crew. Um, but I'll say I got
- 8:04Speaker 1: mixed reviews. My husband was really supportive because obviously we
- 8:07Speaker 1: had watched the show before because the money was on it,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and so we liked what we saw. Um, But other
- 8:14Speaker 1: family members that were like, girl, you have employees, be
- 8:16Speaker 1: very careful, right right, you're mentor to these young girls.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Most of the women that worked for me are under
- 8:23Speaker 1: the age of so that was that whole that people
- 8:26Speaker 1: were like, you know, just be very careful and so
- 8:29Speaker 1: I like that I am who I am with a
- 8:33Speaker 1: camera crew. Without it, I'm just who I am. And
- 8:35Speaker 1: so it's not always pretty, it's not always lovely, but
- 8:38Speaker 1: I do do a lot of great things. So I'm
- 8:40Speaker 1: happy that I'm seeing a hundred percent the way that
- 8:43Speaker 1: I am. And you know, there's certain things I'm just
- 8:45Speaker 1: not gonna do. You will never see me, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: climbing across the table pulling someone's hair. Um, but see
- 8:52Speaker 1: me get you know, indignant or loud or or you know,
- 8:56Speaker 1: trying to get my point across. But I feel like
- 8:57Speaker 1: that's true to who I am. So you'll never can
- 9:00Speaker 1: do something that I wouldn't do without a camera crew. There, absolutely,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and I respect that. I feel that to me, I
- 9:06Speaker 1: always tell people, you know, this is a this is
- 9:08Speaker 1: a brand build for you, especially if our brands that
- 9:11Speaker 1: you want to sell, and you're an entrepreneur and I
- 9:14Speaker 1: feel your small entrepreneur. And so my thought process when
- 9:17Speaker 1: I heard and read you know, press release came out
- 9:20Speaker 1: and I did a little research on your view. I've
- 9:23Speaker 1: been following you before the before this interview. Now you
- 9:25Speaker 1: know this ain't just an interview I just popped up
- 9:27Speaker 1: on last week. Now, and because I always because I
- 9:29Speaker 1: always look at why people do things, and I felt
- 9:31Speaker 1: that there was a move for you to just grow
- 9:33Speaker 1: your brand, to you know, to grow your social media,
- 9:36Speaker 1: to put a face in front of your buildings and
- 9:39Speaker 1: attract more revenue and also to expand your brand. Is
- 9:42Speaker 1: that is that a course of action that I'm I'm
- 9:44Speaker 1: speaking of correctly? Absolutely, as a business owner, you have
- 9:49Speaker 1: to do things that are outside of your comfort zone
- 9:52Speaker 1: for the betterment of your business. And this show is
- 9:54Speaker 1: definitely something that for me was out of my comfort zone.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But I recognized that it was going to be a
- 10:00Speaker 1: platform that I mean, it's a gift. I mean, the
- 10:02Speaker 1: platform like this a million viewers every week. There's no
- 10:05Speaker 1: way that would be able to do that on my
- 10:09Speaker 1: own without using tons and tons of capital. So this
- 10:12Speaker 1: show definitely as a platform for me, but also the
- 10:15Speaker 1: other women too, like I'm inspired and like you know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: a money is coming out with a book, and so
- 10:20Speaker 1: to utilize this platform in the right way, I think
- 10:23Speaker 1: is a smart business decision. So well, that's well, I agree.
- 10:27Speaker 1: You will not hear me say anything negative about your
- 10:30Speaker 1: role on the show. I'm just using these various questions
- 10:32Speaker 1: just to educate people about everything. I think everybody we've
- 10:37Speaker 1: got a lot smarter about social media, We've got a
- 10:39Speaker 1: lot smarter about understanding our brand. And I think that
- 10:43Speaker 1: everybody first just wanted to just get on TV, and
- 10:45Speaker 1: everybody will they can be to the next Kardashian if
- 10:48Speaker 1: they do something crazy. Okay, there's some crazy. We are Kadashian,
- 10:51Speaker 1: you know, and we have a have a billion followers.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But that's got the case. They have what people have
- 10:58Speaker 1: seen that they're talented. They're not just pretty faces. These
- 11:01Speaker 1: are business women too. If you look at them, they
- 11:03Speaker 1: do business. It's just the same thing here, that's what
- 11:06Speaker 1: you're doing. How since coming on the show, how has
- 11:10Speaker 1: it impacted your social media growth? Let's go there first. Well,
- 11:14Speaker 1: to be honest with you, I realized that I wasn't
- 11:16Speaker 1: using social media in the correct way, um until I
- 11:20Speaker 1: was on the show. Explain explain, well, I just I
- 11:25Speaker 1: used it as um. I didn't use it often. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: didn't use it phase that I was supposed to. I
- 11:31Speaker 1: mean I posted sometimes that I wasn't really getting my
- 11:33Speaker 1: message across. I think being on the show and having
- 11:36Speaker 1: a machine behind you like Bravo, and having other women
- 11:39Speaker 1: that came before me that did it correctly, especially in Atlanta.
- 11:43Speaker 1: To use them as the blueprint, it helped me understand
- 11:46Speaker 1: the way to do this right. You just don't like
- 11:49Speaker 1: even the Kardashians. You brought them up. They post, but
- 11:51Speaker 1: their posts are very strategic. When they talked strategy, They're
- 11:55Speaker 1: not just getting on just for the sake of you
- 11:57Speaker 1: seeing them right. There's a reason and a message behind it.
- 12:01Speaker 1: And so I'm learning that. I have learned that, especially
- 12:03Speaker 1: being on the show the last few months, that I
- 12:06Speaker 1: have to be intentional with how I speak to my audience.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I have to understand pit and that has been helpful.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It's finally here the season of celebration, and no matter
- 12:15Speaker 1: how you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing
- 12:18Speaker 1: for Reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going

- 12:45Speaker 1: and under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals
- 12:49Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide

- 14:08Speaker 1: dot Ai. Well, you know, I read something long time
- 14:10Speaker 1: ago about Kim Kardashian. She said that for every post
- 14:14Speaker 1: she's take like of herself, she takes like by five
- 14:17Speaker 1: hundred pictures. Makes you sure? And that taught me something. Okay,
- 14:21Speaker 1: this is a business, you know that, just don't post
- 14:24Speaker 1: any anything just to be posting it. Look at it,
- 14:26Speaker 1: we look at justify why are you posting it? Make
- 14:29Speaker 1: sure it's the best look of you when you post it.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And then people because you're marketing, You're constantly marketing, and
- 14:35Speaker 1: that's what social media is all about. And so because
- 14:37Speaker 1: you've got a lot of brands that you have out there,
- 14:40Speaker 1: and let's talk about let's go to the first one.
- 14:42Speaker 1: We're gonna go to break after this, I want to
- 14:43Speaker 1: come back and talk about the Cave Girl, the Girl
- 14:46Speaker 1: Cave at Los Angeles. Wanna talk about the subscription. We
- 14:48Speaker 1: want to talk about juice bar. Oh did sports bar?
- 14:51Speaker 1: You have a sports bar too? I have a sports
- 14:53Speaker 1: bar in the city of Inglewood. Girl, I'm tasting. We
- 14:57Speaker 1: got so much to talk about in this next parade.
- 14:58Speaker 1: She is a business one. She is also one of
- 15:01Speaker 1: the stars. Are Bravo's new Uh Weston's a new show
- 15:05Speaker 1: because I say new and compared to Atlanta, it is
- 15:07Speaker 1: kind of new, but it is. She's a newer member
- 15:09Speaker 1: of the team. Married to Medicine Los Angeles, which airs
- 15:12Speaker 1: every Sunday Sunday night, nine East Coast, eighth Central, which
- 15:15Speaker 1: is nine West Coast as well. Be right back with
- 15:17Speaker 1: miss Diane. How this rue Sean McDonald and you're listening
- 15:20Speaker 1: to money making conversation. I have a fantastic interview going
- 15:24Speaker 1: along right here with the one of the stars of
- 15:26Speaker 1: Married to Medicine Los Angeles. In fact, she's the newest
- 15:29Speaker 1: starff you haven't seen the shows on Bravo every Sunday night,
- 15:33Speaker 1: nine Eastern West Coast, eighth Central, Ms Diaz Uh. She's
- 15:37Speaker 1: the proud owner of the Girl Cave Los Angeles, a
- 15:40Speaker 1: chain of beauty supply stores and lifestyle brand and lifestyle
- 15:43Speaker 1: brands in Los Angeles. She also has a juice bar
- 15:46Speaker 1: which is Juice Up l A. She also has a
- 15:48Speaker 1: sports bar, Champion City Bar, and she's a real estate mogul.
- 15:52Speaker 1: So we're gonna we're gonna get the breaking this down
- 15:54Speaker 1: one time. We're gonna go this is gonna be an
- 15:56Speaker 1: entire entrepreneur break about you. The first half was about
- 15:59Speaker 1: your your concepts and everything. Not want to dig into
- 16:02Speaker 1: your whole. You know what keeps you rolling, what keeps
- 16:05Speaker 1: you motivating? Besides the show, it has to be the entrepreneurship.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Tell us why it's important to be an entrepreneur, especially
- 16:11Speaker 1: a female entrepreneur in in this day and age. You
- 16:15Speaker 1: know what, Um, I don't even know what to say.
- 16:19Speaker 1: It's been a ride for me. It's been great. Part
- 16:22Speaker 1: of what keeps me inspired is I have three kids,
- 16:25Speaker 1: but I also have uh, I desire just to be good,
- 16:29Speaker 1: like to do good to you know, when I put
- 16:32Speaker 1: something out, I wanted to to do well. And I
- 16:34Speaker 1: think just in anything that I do, even if it's
- 16:37Speaker 1: you know, making my bed in the morning, like I
- 16:40Speaker 1: want to do that well, and I think that that
- 16:42Speaker 1: translates into my business and I it's so much that
- 16:46Speaker 1: we have going on and we just keep it going.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And um, I don't even know where to start. We're
- 16:51Speaker 1: gonna start at their Girl Cave or Zone mel Rose.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Now that's the that's the that's the beauty location right
- 16:57Speaker 1: on mel Rose. So we've recently we restructured the Girl
- 17:01Speaker 1: in the last and so that's part of my right.
- 17:04Speaker 1: So when I got into this industry, I was not
- 17:06Speaker 1: talking to my consumer. Listen, I'm a black girl from Inglewood,
- 17:10Speaker 1: we like and so I was trying to be in
- 17:13Speaker 1: an area of town where my customers weren't and they
- 17:16Speaker 1: wanted to support me, but they didn't it was hard
- 17:19Speaker 1: for them to access my store. So I've recently closed
- 17:22Speaker 1: what not recently, it's in the last year. We've closed
- 17:24Speaker 1: the Man the Nailworks location and we opened up the
- 17:28Speaker 1: location in the city of Compton. So now we have
- 17:30Speaker 1: three stores where in Inglewood South, Los Angeles and Compton,
- 17:33Speaker 1: and we've basically just dug in and everything that you
- 17:39Speaker 1: can think about for grooming, hair care, nail care, waxing,
- 17:42Speaker 1: everything could think of, we carry out the stores. And
- 17:45Speaker 1: so we have just restructured and it's been really good
- 17:49Speaker 1: for us. Well, I love you know what you said.
- 17:51Speaker 1: You know, Inglewood South Los Angeles and Compton. That is
- 17:55Speaker 1: the core of Black America in Los Angeles. That is
- 17:58Speaker 1: your core audies that trying to reach. That's a loyal
- 18:01Speaker 1: audience first of all, but also that's an audience that
- 18:04Speaker 1: that that works at a certain price point. How do
- 18:06Speaker 1: you work out the whole price point and making sure
- 18:09Speaker 1: there are customers that come back to you. And this
- 18:11Speaker 1: is where being married to medicine really in l A
- 18:14Speaker 1: really helps your brand in those market shares that you
- 18:18Speaker 1: just said your three stores are located at correct right, correct?
- 18:21Speaker 1: So um, there's no secret that in the beauty supply
- 18:25Speaker 1: industry is not dominated by by black people. We we
- 18:30Speaker 1: have issues sometimes as black owners getting competitive pricing, but
- 18:33Speaker 1: I always say that that's not my customers problem, that's
- 18:35Speaker 1: my problem. And so I have to make sure that
- 18:38Speaker 1: my pricing is competitive compared to other stores, even though
- 18:41Speaker 1: I might pay a little bit more for the products
- 18:43Speaker 1: because I'm a newer store. We've only been around for
- 18:46Speaker 1: five years and in this industry that's considered new. Um,
- 18:49Speaker 1: and maybe have the relationships with the distributors. So yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: I do pay more for my products, but I also
- 18:54Speaker 1: make sure that I just eat that cost and I
- 18:56Speaker 1: don't pass it on to the consumer, because my business
- 18:59Speaker 1: issues are not their consumer issues, you know what I mean. So, um, yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 1: we stay competitive. I mean, I'm not ashamed of it.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Sometimes I go onto other beauty supply stores and see
- 19:08Speaker 1: what that price point is so I can understand and
- 19:10Speaker 1: my overcharging and my undercharging, like I want to beat
- 19:14Speaker 1: my competition. Well, you know, you're getting kind of famous there,
- 19:18Speaker 1: so you just can't roll in there like you used
- 19:21Speaker 1: to roll in there, you know what I'm saying. So
- 19:23Speaker 1: I'll just let you know. Now you can roll up
- 19:26Speaker 1: and they're gonna start taking photos. Famous person in the store,
- 19:29Speaker 1: famous person in the store, to go up there, you go,
- 19:36Speaker 1: you go. But it's all good because I understand you're
- 19:38Speaker 1: trying to make sure you stay competitive because in this business,
- 19:42Speaker 1: people can lay you out, especially in social media. Oh
- 19:44Speaker 1: she's pricey, her stuff is, she doesn't deliver on time,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and that those things are there and so but one
- 19:50Speaker 1: thing I really loved I saw that I went online
- 19:52Speaker 1: and was talking about it was just real positives, he said,
- 19:56Speaker 1: now offering local delivery heylaws as looking for us actual
- 20:00Speaker 1: beauty items, braiding hair and their care supplies. We have
- 20:03Speaker 1: expanded the ways you can shop from all three of
- 20:06Speaker 1: our locations, which is which is the Inglewood location, the
- 20:09Speaker 1: Compter location, and soft Soft Los Angeles location. You deliver
- 20:13Speaker 1: ship and provide curve side delivery that stand in the game,
- 20:18Speaker 1: that is staying in the game. Talk to us about that. Well,
- 20:22Speaker 1: I have to shift, and I mean, in order to
- 20:24Speaker 1: be successful, you have to move with the times. And
- 20:26Speaker 1: obviously with the shutdowns and um, you know the virus
- 20:30Speaker 1: going around, I have to make sure that I'm I'm
- 20:32Speaker 1: saying in business employees or paycheck and I'm you know,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'm invested in this. So we have to shift. We
- 20:39Speaker 1: always had a website, but we're pushing that online so
- 20:42Speaker 1: people understand that. And we've been getting orders literally from
- 20:45Speaker 1: New Jersey, from Florida, from all over all over the
- 20:48Speaker 1: country with push to push the website and then people
- 20:52Speaker 1: just feel more comfortable shopping for essential goods online now,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I mean, and so we have to meet the meat
- 20:57Speaker 1: neat So we have a whole delivery team. Now, Um,
- 21:01Speaker 1: if we're just out every day every morning, we're assigning
- 21:03Speaker 1: orders and we're getting them out so people get their
- 21:05Speaker 1: orders within a few hours. And that's just been our
- 21:08Speaker 1: new goal. We know it was, so it's so nice
- 21:11Speaker 1: when you said we have a delivery team now you're
- 21:14Speaker 1: so it's so proud of that because of the fact
- 21:17Speaker 1: that one thing that's come out of the pandemic that
- 21:20Speaker 1: we are dealing with it is is that black people
- 21:22Speaker 1: have come to the realization that technology has to become
- 21:25Speaker 1: a part of their lifestyle. They have to embrace the
- 21:28Speaker 1: online world out there that we've somehow battled. We used
- 21:32Speaker 1: our phone just just to talk on or just to
- 21:34Speaker 1: text on, where our competitors are non African Americans are,
- 21:39Speaker 1: non people of color, use their phone to operate on,
- 21:41Speaker 1: to do their business on, to communicate outside of texting
- 21:45Speaker 1: and talking. And so that has been I think one
- 21:48Speaker 1: of the great blessings because you know, we know that
- 21:51Speaker 1: African Americans have been overtly effective in a negative manner
- 21:55Speaker 1: due to COVID nineteen, but in from a communication standpoint,
- 21:59Speaker 1: like you said, own, that's what I love hearing what
- 22:01Speaker 1: you're saying, because by just changing your business model, you're
- 22:05Speaker 1: not just selling in the Los Angeles County area. You
- 22:08Speaker 1: now in some ways maybe internationally selling your brand now
- 22:12Speaker 1: and getting orders because of the fact that you become
- 22:15Speaker 1: a twenty four hour store and they say, say, you're
- 22:18Speaker 1: getting checks in your mailbox is how you want to
- 22:20Speaker 1: do business anyway. You want to be sleeping and making
- 22:23Speaker 1: money and that's the ultimate goal for your brands. Correct, absolutely, absolutely,
- 22:28Speaker 1: And you know, just to be able to have a
- 22:31Speaker 1: platform like a website. Can you imagine that, like somebody
- 22:34Speaker 1: in New Jersey knows who we are here in in Inglewood, California.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Like that's just it's amazing to me that the word
- 22:42Speaker 1: is out and that people are shopping across the country.
- 22:44Speaker 1: In this morning, I'm actually here at my distributorum because
- 22:47Speaker 1: I have to pull an order. We gotta order and Dubai.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I'm like, it's a national I said it. I said,
- 22:55Speaker 1: I said the blessing, and the blessing came through. Come on, now,
- 22:58Speaker 1: come on. I love it. I love it because I
- 23:01Speaker 1: love talking to young entrepreneurs. I love talking to them
- 23:04Speaker 1: realizing that the excitement you say, we have a delivery
- 23:07Speaker 1: team now, because you you really see that it's not
- 23:10Speaker 1: always you know, hand to hand comeback when you're doing business.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You know, it's about being able to not see your
- 23:17Speaker 1: customers but deliver a product online that they feel comfortable with.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Ardent because we know there are so many scams out there.
- 23:23Speaker 1: We know sometimes I click, you don't know where to go.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And then these big corporations like Amazon, they have a
- 23:29Speaker 1: brand that people respect and so people tend to go
- 23:32Speaker 1: there to buy their their services or by the product,
- 23:35Speaker 1: and you can deliver the same product probably cheaper than
- 23:38Speaker 1: they will, and also get a fastest delivery pace to
- 23:41Speaker 1: them as well. But the thing I really loved about
- 23:43Speaker 1: just hearing you talking the enthusiasm of the product is
- 23:46Speaker 1: that you have a subscription box. Let's talk about that
- 23:50Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine plus ninety nine shipping that's still available, correct, Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 1: so we actually we've um, we've shipped it. We're still
- 23:58Speaker 1: subscriptures are still availing books now. Um. But you've just
- 24:01Speaker 1: seen that there's a need for like essential product remedies
- 24:06Speaker 1: because people are transitioning in this time, right. So a
- 24:09Speaker 1: lot of people that usually wear wigs, weaves, extensions. We've
- 24:12Speaker 1: seen that to the natural hair care um option because
- 24:16Speaker 1: the cilans are closed. So we've shifted that too. This
- 24:19Speaker 1: is all about evolving as times change, right. So we
- 24:22Speaker 1: did have a subscription box, but now we have remedies online.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So if you're transitioning and you you know you want
- 24:28Speaker 1: to go natural. We have a transition remedy and we
- 24:30Speaker 1: have a do it yourself so you can literally go
- 24:33Speaker 1: online and pick what in your hair is going through
- 24:36Speaker 1: and pick a remedy to deal with it. Yeah, I'm
- 24:39Speaker 1: gonna just tell you about me a little bit. Here
- 24:43Speaker 1: of my followers are female. I'm a nice guy. I'm
- 24:48Speaker 1: a nice guy. I'm a baker. I sell positive I
- 24:52Speaker 1: I my sister, have six sisters. I just embrace empowering women.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And the reason I bringing that up is that I
- 24:58Speaker 1: have an email news and it goes out every Friday
- 25:01Speaker 1: at nine am to ninety thousand fan club members. I
- 25:06Speaker 1: like to put I like to put an ad in
- 25:08Speaker 1: there for you, not then that I shouldn't used the
- 25:10Speaker 1: word add a banner, a banner of marketing your brand.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Click here by ship anywhere ninety thousand. So if you
- 25:20Speaker 1: get if you get an order from Chicago that might
- 25:23Speaker 1: be Rashane, you get an order from Florida, that might
- 25:25Speaker 1: be you get an order from Montana that might be Rashan.
- 25:29Speaker 1: All of just telling you is that that is why
- 25:31Speaker 1: I feel I have to share my blessings. I hear
- 25:34Speaker 1: your story MS. I have to be able to compel
- 25:38Speaker 1: to say what can I do more for you? What
- 25:40Speaker 1: can I do more? How could I help you keep winning?
- 25:43Speaker 1: Because if you win, that means people stay employed, that
- 25:46Speaker 1: means that you become a visionary. And you understand what
- 25:49Speaker 1: you said. Hey, I'm trying to make beauty normal right now,
- 25:54Speaker 1: beauty is ab normal, but people have extreme thoughts of
- 25:57Speaker 1: what beauty is. I have a twenty two year old daughter.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I need you to be our role model. That's why
- 26:02Speaker 1: I'm ready to support you. Wow, I'm blown away. Thank
- 26:06Speaker 1: you so much for that. You don't even understand what
- 26:09Speaker 1: that means because you don't have to do that, And
- 26:11Speaker 1: I really, really I can't even express how much I
- 26:14Speaker 1: appreciate it, but I do thank you. You don't have
- 26:17Speaker 1: to express. Just give me that banner. Like I said,
- 26:20Speaker 1: every Friday at nine am, it goes out and it's
- 26:23Speaker 1: a beautiful letter I got. I have my PR firm
- 26:26Speaker 1: send it to you so you can see how how
- 26:29Speaker 1: it's put laid out. Uh is you know? This week?

- 26:34Speaker 1: Cold Joe for his suits. I got Curgric and entertaining
- 26:38Speaker 1: his hats. I got some names up in this. This
- 26:41Speaker 1: news was about miss now it's not that there's an
- 26:44Speaker 1: okay dope news letter not I love it. Thank you. Wow,

- 26:53Speaker 1: I know is that I know we run out of time,
- 26:55Speaker 1: and I wanted to bring you back to talk about
- 26:57Speaker 1: the sports bar and the juice bar, but this whole
- 27:00Speaker 1: thing about beauty and you're being an entrepreneur. I just
- 27:03Speaker 1: wanted to get that story out and also just say
- 27:05Speaker 1: thank you for being who you are and I'm gonna
- 27:07Speaker 1: support you and definitely get that information to If you
- 27:10Speaker 1: can't get it out this, we'll get it to me

- 27:19Speaker 1: support your brand. Okay, thank you, thank you, thank you
- 27:23Speaker 1: for this platform, thank you for helping getting the word
