- 0:00The B -side in boxing. B -side shit. B -side.
- 0:04B -side. And the B -side. You got a B -side.
- 0:06The B -side. B -side. B -side. B -side. The B
- 0:10-side thing. This is the B -Sides Boxing Podcast.
- 0:20Timer is running. Here we go. Boxing B -sides.
- 0:26Holy shit, boys. We are back to talk the fights.
- 0:29Joined by the one and only Saul and Josh. Welcome
- 0:32back. Homies. That's good. How goes it? We're
- 0:35back. Homies at large. Homies at large. Did you
- 0:41ever get, did you collect those little figurines
- 0:45that were called homies? Oh, you know what? Yeah,
- 0:48I remember a time where they come in the barrels
- 0:50or something. Yeah, like they would come with
- 0:52candy or some shit. Oh yeah, I did not, but I
- 0:56think they were before my time. I've seen clips
- 0:59of those. I recognize them, but they were before
- 1:03my time. Yeah, I probably showed my unk status
- 1:06by mentioning those. But it's all good. Let's
- 1:12get something out of the way really quick. UFC
- 1:15Freedom 250 took place on June 14th. That is
- 1:18in today's date zone. It was about what you would
- 1:26expect. It was a lot of matches that were made
- 1:29to produce stoppages. So, Diego Lopez got a good
- 1:35one. Stoppage in two. Bo Nickel, who's not a
- 1:38striker, got a TKO in the first. Josh Hokit showed
- 1:46his ass. He won the fight, but he... Very uncool
- 1:52shit. He won a lawsuit, too. Post -fight interview.
- 2:00Very lame. Michelle Obama. I'm not going to repeat
- 2:04the whole thing, but you talk about Michelle
- 2:05Obama. I'm just... I don't know what the hell
- 2:09these people's obsession over Michelle Obama
- 2:12is. They want to make... From what I've noticed
- 2:18with these types, Kind of on a tangent. Like,
- 2:23they want to make black women seem masculine,
- 2:26you know? To make them seem lesser, you know?
- 2:30At least that's what I see. You know, it's like
- 2:33a racist dog whistle. Yeah, it is. It's generally
- 2:36the prerogative of the very chud -aligned UFC.
- 2:42Yeah. Bunch of fucking pussies. They either make
- 2:46them into, like, mammies. Or butch women. Yeah.
- 2:53I mean, Michelle Obama is what they wish they
- 2:59could fucking have. Brilliant, educated, eloquent,
- 3:05graceful, fucking way more patience than I would
- 3:11ever show. And, yeah. Y 'all wish. You just described
- 3:20Virgil Ortiz. But wrapping it up with this Freedom
- 3:27250 shit, Cyril Ghosn beats Alex Pareda to claim
- 3:31the interim heavyweight title, and Justin Gaethje
- 3:34rallies back to beat Ilya Tepuria to claim the
- 3:39lightweight title. Holy shit. I'm not glad. I
- 3:43felt pretty American after that. Man, Tepuria
- 3:45fucking sucks, dude. What is this? I used to
- 3:48claim he would... Back before Boots left 147,
- 3:55that Teporia could hang with anyone but Boots
- 4:00at 147. Because it was a really weak division,
- 4:04like Barrios. Oh, it was bad. Yeah. So, maybe
- 4:09not so much anymore. That was pretty fucking
- 4:14awesome, dude. I'm not gonna lie. The UFC's cooked
- 4:17now, so thank you very much, Dana White, for
- 4:19cooking your own sport. Go fuck yourself. You
- 4:22know, one can say it's always been cooked, but...
- 4:28Well, actually, I take that back, because you
- 4:29know what? He probably did that on purpose to
- 4:31focus on boxing. What do you mean? His real love
- 4:36was power slap, but it didn't work out. His real
- 4:40love is slapping his wife. Hence, power slap.
- 4:44His power slap. Slapping his wife with a power
- 4:47slap. We could cut that out. That's for the Patreon.
- 4:52But yeah, if you want to get more UFC chatter,
- 4:56we talk over on Ultimate F and Casuals. We talk
- 5:00through the whole card in very great detail.
- 5:03This was like the highlight of recent weeks.
- 5:09Into the boxing news and rumors and such. First
- 5:16things first, the boxing survey continues. bxng
- 5:19.co slash survey. Tell me what you think about
- 5:22the titles and the Muhammad Ali Boxing Revival
- 5:25Act. We still have time. We still have a chance.
- 5:29Go to luxmedia .net slash bsides. Get the contact
- 5:34information for your senators and let them know
- 5:36you strongly oppose this legislation and they
- 5:40should too. Now. Oleksandr Usyk has vacated his
- 5:47titles. He said he has one fight left before
- 5:55he retires. He's calling it his last dance. And
- 6:00the possible opponents are Deontay Wilder or
- 6:04Jon Jones. Yeah, it's about to be Wilder. It's
- 6:11about to be Wilder. That being said, even Wilder
- 6:19in his diminished state is still better than
- 6:22the 97 jazz that the Bulls faced during the actual
- 6:27real -life last dance. So, respect there. Over
- 6:35my head with that one. The last dance is about
- 6:39the last championship the Bulls Oh, the Jordan
- 6:43Bulls? The Jordan Bulls. But they played like
- 6:46a really shitty Carl Malone jazz team. I thought
- 6:50Carl Malone was good. Playoff dropper and, you
- 6:54know, is off the court. Ah. Intriguing. Yeah.
- 7:01The point is, that jazz team is not great. And
- 7:05I hold Deontay Wilder in higher regard. Also...
- 7:12I think also Usyk, honestly, he's in that late
- 7:16-stage Lennox Lewis part of his career. Remember,
- 7:22he dropped it to fight Michael Grant. And Brodman
- 7:28wasn't even supposed to be a mandatory or anything
- 7:32of any kind. He's in that phase where he just
- 7:35fights who he wants. Wilder is better than Michael
- 7:40Grant. I don't know if that's a... controversial
- 7:42take? I don't think so. Like, I just... Not at
- 7:48all. No, Michael Grant was rough. Michael Grant
- 7:52was rough. But, you know, people are up in arms
- 7:58for no reason. Because they fall for the shiny
- 8:07new toy instead of, you know, kind of... being
- 8:12a little more content with what you have now.
- 8:18Is that expecting Usyk to take his banditories?
- 8:23Specifically Kabayel? I think Kabayel is the
- 8:27one that I'm like, okay, if everyone was expecting
- 8:29like Itama, like the real future of the division,
- 8:32because you have to remember Kabayel isn't like
- 8:35a spring chicken in this division. He's been
- 8:37around for a while. Um, I'd be a little more
- 8:41amenable, but like, it's, it's just, I feel,
- 8:48I feel like we're, I feel like the, the pressure
- 8:50in quotation marks on Usyk to face this mandatory
- 8:54is a little, a little overblown. Well, it's not
- 9:01a mandatory anymore because now he's champion.
- 9:02No, no, he dropped the belt. Yeah. And Gabriel's
- 9:05the champ. People, yeah. This is if Dillian White
- 9:09became champ. This is the... Honestly, really
- 9:15funny turn of events. Who's in the WBC rankings
- 9:19for... Let's have a look. I'll take a peek, because
- 9:24I'm like, who's in the rankings to... So we can
- 9:28really see... Who Caballel will fight next? Number
- 9:33one, Tyson Fury, Lawrence Okoli, Itama Hergovich.
- 9:37It's going to be Itama. Okay, so I'm assuming
- 9:41Itama Hergovich, and then they call the mandatory
- 9:44from that fight. I don't think Itama's ever going
- 9:49to fight Usyk, dude. No. Well, no, it's Caballel.
- 9:52It's Caballel now. Oh, Caballel. He got elevated.
- 9:56So I was going to say, like, Itama fighting Caballel.
- 10:00Honestly, probably a little easier than Frank
- 10:02Sanchez in regards to style matchup. Well, that's
- 10:05also not happening either because, I mean, most
- 10:08I tell them is ranked higher than other organizations,
- 10:11not the WBC. Yeah, but he's Turkey's favorite.
- 10:15He's top five in every one, isn't he? He's top
- 10:17five in every single one. So he has his choice
- 10:19of, like, especially because these current belt
- 10:22holders, like, it's going to be Gassi over Yoko,
- 10:24which is hilarious. it's going to be Caballel,
- 10:28which is hilarious, and it's Frank Sanchez, which
- 10:30is hilarious. Yeah, I mean, the thing is that
- 10:35what's the easiest route for him to go in and
- 10:36get a belt? That's what Queensborough is going
- 10:38to do. They're not going to put him with the
- 10:40Bulls yet. And they got Danny Dubois. Remember,
- 10:42you got Daniel Dubois. Yeah, so it's definitely
- 10:45Caballel who's the easiest. You think Caballel
- 10:48is easier than Frank Sanchez? Yeah, stylistically,
- 10:50yeah. I don't know if I agree with that. I highly
- 10:55disagree with that. I'm saying stylistically
- 10:58just because, like, okay, with Sanchez, maybe
- 11:01Atamba has problems with range. Because Herkovich
- 11:04also does not use range well. He uses leverage
- 11:06well. Maybe, you know, that's unproven. But we
- 11:11saw with basically his entire career has been
- 11:14guys who will step to him. And at least it's
- 11:17an easier. It's easier to do the mental calculus
- 11:20on Itama being good enough to take out a guy
- 11:23constantly stepping to him with leaky defense
- 11:25than, who knows, maybe he has some problem boxing
- 11:31a range. Nah, man, I'm telling you. I genuinely
- 11:37think that Frank Sanchez is probably the easier
- 11:41fight. I know it doesn't seem like it. If Yoko
- 11:45wins... That's a different story. It's Yoka.
- 11:51Yeah, it's Yoka. I was going to say, Gassiev,
- 11:55for all his flaws, for being fat and terrible,
- 11:58he's got more IQ than the other guys. I mean,
- 12:06who knows? The thing is, if they really want
- 12:08to fuck up Italo's career, they could go put
- 12:10him with Danny Dubois. Or fucking Fabio Wardley.
- 12:14Depends on the belief. Like, I think... Depends
- 12:16on how heavy of a hand Turkey's taking with the
- 12:19matchmaking. If he's really playing action figures,
- 12:22you do Kabe El Dubois. He's in poor health, though.
- 12:25I don't know if we talked about that, but he's
- 12:27in ailing health. Yes. I think we did last time,
- 12:31but... That's why I'm like, it depends on how
- 12:33active of a hand he has. If he's taking a step
- 12:37back because of his health issues, then we see
- 12:40more... Let's wait and see matchmaking. I would
- 12:45say he's probably more... Since he's a Queensborough
- 12:48fighter, I'm seeing how Queensborough and the
- 12:52man, Turkey Al -Sheikh, haven't been seeing eye
- 12:53to eye. I feel like Queensborough is not really
- 12:56going to want to feel easy letting a guy out
- 13:00like that, you know? They're going to build him
- 13:03up like how they should. They're going to have
- 13:05him fight an easy but formidable fighter. And
- 13:11then from there, they'll put him with, you know,
- 13:12more tough competition. Also, I feel like they
- 13:16don't want to set him up with one of the guys
- 13:18in the beginning because, I mean, they got Daniel
- 13:21Dubois, one of their guys, as champion. They
- 13:24got Caballel, one of the guys as champion. I
- 13:26mean, wouldn't it be better to spread out your
- 13:28eggs? Have him go for the IBF. Have him go for
- 13:32the IBF, exactly, yeah. The stable. Yeah, exactly.
- 13:34Then they'll own the division. You go for Sanchez
- 13:38then. Except for Tony Yoka in the City of Light.
- 13:43The lone pillar. Yoka's so weak, though. That's
- 13:46the thing. If Yoka wins that fight, I cannot
- 13:49understate how... Especially because it's how
- 13:52much passes the eye test in a way that most heavyweights
- 13:55don't. I am only least confident in Dubois Sanchez
- 14:04because Sanchez can spoil. You're saying Sanchez
- 14:09can spoil? Dude, Campiel can spoil. He is the
- 14:13spoiler. I'm talking spoiler style -wise. Style
- 14:18-wise? I don't know, dude. Stylistically, Sanchez
- 14:21can be negative and spoil. But again, it depends
- 14:25on how much Sanchez can move. I mean, I know
- 14:29his last fight wasn't long, but in the fight,
- 14:32throughout the fight, he wasn't really moving
- 14:34like how he used to. To be fair, he didn't really
- 14:36need to with Torres. He didn't need to, but he
- 14:39didn't show off that he still had it like that.
- 14:42Again, he didn't need to, but he didn't show
- 14:44it. So it doesn't prove to me that he can move
- 14:48and box like how he used to. The one -hitter
- 14:51quitter. Because against Caballel, he had knee
- 14:56issues, which is why I was kind of betting against
- 14:59him with Richard Torres. Because we don't know.
- 15:03How bad they are. Right. With a round and a half,
- 15:06we can't really say whether or not he's really
- 15:08over it. That's true. Exactly. And also, again,
- 15:12Caballero is a hard, I mean, he's a risky fighter.
- 15:17Seemingly, you know, might not be as much pay.
- 15:21You know? I don't know. All of them except for
- 15:25Dubois are around a similar pay. That's what
- 15:28I'm saying. Why go for someone that's harder
- 15:30for, you know? not a guaranteed bigger payout.
- 15:36Not sure. Honestly, again, Turkey's ailing health
- 15:41could also be in the other direction where he
- 15:44might want to see his action figures now. So
- 15:47you might get Caballel, Itama, pretty soon. But
- 15:52is it like that? Because I know he had cancer,
- 15:56right? He has a tumor in his brain. He's losing
- 16:01his, like, his cognitive functions. His memories
- 16:05were the first things going. Maybe that's why
- 16:09he hasn't been around as much. Riyadh season
- 16:11hasn't been as prevalent. But he might also,
- 16:13that's what I'm saying, but he might want to
- 16:14see, like, considering he's been big on Atama
- 16:17and more recently pretty big on Caballel, that
- 16:21might be, you know, you want to see this now.
- 16:24You don't want to see it marinate, as it probably
- 16:27should. I mean, Caballos hasn't really fought...
- 16:30Yeah, I mean, Caballos hasn't fought, you know,
- 16:33a good, decent opponent since Zhang. And before
- 16:38that, I mean, Zhang is whatever. Before that,
- 16:41it was what? Mahmoudov? There was Frank Stanton
- 16:47before Zhang. There's Robin Chisora, too, in
- 16:51Monaco. Well, then you got, you know... I think
- 16:56that if Itamo were to fight Cabello at the same
- 17:01time, Cabello is proven to be a spoiler, but
- 17:06it's also against guys who are, you know, not
- 17:11as good. I'm saying that in hindsight, so, you
- 17:16know. I'm just, like, genuinely, I think Itamo's
- 17:22good enough to make the jump any time because...
- 17:25heavyweight has always been top -heavy. Honestly.
- 17:32Like, heavyweight is always kind of top -heavy
- 17:35in that, like, you're never going to be able
- 17:37to gradually ascend like you can in other weight
- 17:40classes. You just kind of have to take a shot
- 17:43at the top guy. No, I feel like in this current
- 17:47generation, you're able to because there's enough
- 17:49older gentlemen that you can do that with. Again,
- 17:55it also depends on how you perceive Caballel.
- 17:58I do not perceive Caballel as all that. This
- 18:01is very much like another Dillian White 300 -whatever
- 18:06-days -is -mandatory situation. I see Caballel
- 18:13as a good fighter, but I need to see him in more
- 18:16competitive fights. Yeah, but if that happened,
- 18:20you'd see the Pavetkin thing happen. I guess
- 18:26you're right. Not exactly an uppercut, but who
- 18:31was the guy who fought last time in Germany who
- 18:34was just touching him up, but smaller heavyweight
- 18:37can't really finish the job. He was fighting
- 18:43a guy who was really putting it on him. Very
- 18:48much. Yeah. Polish guy. Damien Nipa or whatever.
- 18:56You know, big heavyweight, but not, like, a pretty
- 19:00empty undefeated record. And it was very, like,
- 19:06almost Oscar, white Oscar Rivas -like, where
- 19:11you go, like, okay, so here's an opponent you
- 19:15really should have dominated that you just, you
- 19:17found, you mostly dominated, you looked ways,
- 19:20you showed the fact that you clearly have not
- 19:23progressed. You've shown... This clear weakness.
- 19:30Like, I don't know. I am not big on Caballel
- 19:33because this is like... We've seen this exact
- 19:37type of heavyweight before. He is not that special.
- 19:48I think the attention span of... You know what?
- 19:54I think he's not... I agree with you. We've seen
- 19:55him before. But in this current crop of heavyweights,
- 19:58it's someone that's not really like everybody
- 20:01else. He's literally more unique with the current
- 20:04crop. Like, it's just so, like, okay, he's either
- 20:08fought, like, trash or, like, clearly, like,
- 20:14old guys who are ready to, who are already on
- 20:18their way out, basically, without, like, wasted
- 20:21potential guys, if that makes sense. I get what
- 20:27you're saying. Like, Sang and Frank Sanchez were
- 20:30never going to reach the top. Like, the tippy
- 20:34top of the division. Barring Sanchez is, like,
- 20:38fighting Richard Torres. And then, like, you
- 20:41know, barring any particular out -of -the -ordinary
- 20:45movement, these were guys who were never going
- 20:47to reach it on their own. That were, like, older
- 20:50guys. older guys isn't frank sanchez only like
- 20:5632 frank sanchez looks older than my father and
- 21:02my father is in his 50s and zhang is so old he's
- 21:07having repeated kidney failure but also he doesn't
- 21:09drink water so he doesn't even have to cut weight
- 21:14why are you dehydrating yourself like i'm just
- 21:19saying like these guys are The guys he fought
- 21:22are very particularly, like, these are old guys
- 21:25who are very weak to, like, body pressure. Especially
- 21:29Zhang. Like, we saw the, oh, he knocked out Zhang
- 21:34with a body shot. And I'm like, Jerry Forrest
- 21:36had Zhang in the ER because the guy just doesn't
- 21:40drink water for whatever reason. Like, it's very
- 21:46smoke and mirrors. Like, Makhmudov looked more
- 21:48hurt against Dave Allen than he did against Caballel.
- 21:52Dave Allen is just fat and terrible and couldn't
- 21:56really follow up on it. Leo, how are you feeling?
- 22:06Um... Let's see. The picture as it stands now...
- 22:14Kabayel's a full champion. Daniel Dubois is a
- 22:17full champion. Now Murat Gassiev is also a full
- 22:22champion. Yeah, he has a fight coming up that
- 22:26we'll talk about next time. But that leaves the
- 22:29IBF. And it makes me, I really think that Frank
- 22:33Warren is going to push Itauma up that road to
- 22:38get more titles in his stable. So it'll be Frank
- 22:44Sanchez against... Frank Sanchez against Atama,
- 22:49maybe? Yeah. But yeah, that's what I think is
- 22:57going to happen. I think they're going to move
- 23:00Atama up the IBF route just to increase the hardware.
- 23:09But... When it comes to them unifying with each
- 23:14other... Who do you guys think stands on top
- 23:23of those three if they become Titleists? Itama
- 23:27or... Yeah. That's kind of hard because you know
- 23:34what? It just depends on who Itama fights. Because
- 23:37if they rush him, I genuinely feel like that...
- 23:41If they rush him and he gets caught, it could
- 23:43affect him for the rest of his career. Because
- 23:46the guys he's fighting are big. Yeah, but he's
- 23:50also big. If he showed vulnerability during the
- 23:55eye test, I'd be like, okay. We'll get into boots
- 24:01having something people claim is a bit of a weakness.
- 24:07that you that you saw from the very start when
- 24:09he was on showbox but like you don't see that
- 24:13and i've also been pointing out too by the way
- 24:15i forgot i'm not gonna hate on him later but
- 24:18you know he's a very like he's a very very very
- 24:21skilled heavyweight it's just there's no way
- 24:24around it and it's not like you know it's not
- 24:29uh oh he hasn't fought anyone that can like chin
- 24:32check him like Jermaine Franklin is a good guy
- 24:35for seeing if your chin sucks and if you're shitting
- 24:38your pants at contact. Well, his chin was never
- 24:42even touched. Yeah, and Anthony Joshua's was.
- 24:46And he was shitting his pants the whole time
- 24:48with Jermaine Franklin. White also... We just
- 24:55gotta wait and see. There's a level of fragility
- 24:58that you see in most heavyweights that, you know,
- 25:03You haven't seen yet in Itama. We just got Wayne
- 25:10C. Yeah, we'll have to see how this situation
- 25:13plays out. But I don't think... The thing is
- 25:17that there's a difference between... If you get
- 25:19knocked out at heavyweight, it happens. It's
- 25:23genuinely... That's the appeal of the division.
- 25:26That being said, if there is a sustained beating
- 25:29that starts occurring, then if his corner doesn't
- 25:32pull him out, that's when we see... That's when
- 25:35we should have more of a concern. And who's in
- 25:39his corner? Who's in his corner? Enlighten me
- 25:44who's in his corner. Ben Davison. Yeah. I wonder
- 25:48who. Oh, no. Back to that theory I had that Ben
- 25:54Davison is going to be... Horrible for his career
- 25:57in the future, but, you know, I digress. I think
- 26:00this is a Virgil Hunter scenario. How so? Mediocre
- 26:07to terrible trainer who just had generational,
- 26:10like, talent to walk through your doors. Like,
- 26:15Virgil Hunter is a horrible trainer. But you
- 26:18know what? Andre Ward walked through his doors.
- 26:23So you mean Bozianis type situation, right? The
- 26:27product of Bozianis' sperm is different to just
- 26:31having a shitty boxing gym and someone walking
- 26:34through it. The difference. Bozianis has turned
- 26:40some ships around. That too. Virtual Hunter is
- 26:44just... He made Amir Khan worse. He made Abner
- 26:49Mares worse. Those are just the two that come
- 26:53to mind. Dude, Abner Mara's eye was falling out
- 26:56in training because of this guy. Again, those
- 27:03are just ones that come to mind. You are not
- 27:07a great boxing trainer. Prime talent that is
- 27:10so insurmountably great walks through your door.
- 27:13All you have to do is keep them in shape, pretty
- 27:16much, and teach them the bare basics. Like, the
- 27:22IQ disparity between Andre Ward and his trainer
- 27:25was crazy. And I think it's the same thing here.
- 27:28Especially at heavyweight. Because heavyweight
- 27:30is not good. On average. Like, you do not need
- 27:35as much as at heavyweight. So the fact that,
- 27:38like, we could train Moses Itama. Just gotta
- 27:45keep him on the one -twos on the pads. Like,
- 27:47to be undisputed. We just gotta keep him in shape.
- 27:51And keep his mind sharp. We don't even have to
- 27:54do anything. So I think that's the case here.
- 27:59Where they could. Anybody could train. Itama.
- 28:07And it wouldn't be an issue. Granted there are
- 28:12trainers that could make him better. But he's
- 28:14also so much better. That like it's not worth.
- 28:18Postulating about. About where he should go instead.
- 28:26Yeah, like, there's no, like, oh, he does this
- 28:29deficiency or his IQ sucks. Like, no, he very
- 28:32clearly does all the right things all the time.
- 28:35And he's also just better than most of the heavyweights.
- 28:39In spite of boxer size, Ben. So, like, he has
- 28:46a net zero in his corner, but it's very much
- 28:49a... I mean, while there's a case where he actually
- 28:52could have been way better with an actual trainer
- 28:54who didn't learn, who didn't teach him from YouTube
- 28:57videos. But similar concept, too, of you are
- 29:04a bad trainer. The prime, prime material walks
- 29:08through the doors. You don't have to do that
- 29:10much to get him very far, especially as a heavyweight.
- 29:17Especially with power like that. And I mean that
- 29:19for both Wilder and for Yatama. Yeah. And like
- 29:23power and athleticism like that, you really...
- 29:26That heavyweight, you don't need that much. You
- 29:29just... You have it. So I don't see it as a concern.
- 29:39Especially again, Usyk is on his way out. The
- 29:42only heavyweight who could have... In like a...
- 29:45five year radius in either direction who could
- 29:50have posed like a thinking challenge is absolutely
- 29:54Usyk what makes me wonder because at some point
- 30:01he's going to have Dubois in the opposite corner
- 30:05and Don Charles does he seems to have a better
- 30:13formula at work in his gym than Ben Davison.
- 30:19Oh, absolutely. And I wonder when, like, when
- 30:22are the intangibles going to start coming into
- 30:24play? Honestly, if... I feel like, like, from
- 30:29watching them, the eye test implies if you really
- 30:33are high on Atama that he should be able to pick
- 30:36DuPont out because we've seen the best examples
- 30:41of, like... Charles getting Dubois to use his
- 30:45jab and leverage, the best opponents this has
- 30:49worked on have been Hergovich and Wardley, so
- 30:52I feel like Hergovich will be the measure of
- 30:55if you really can not have to dip into the intangibles
- 30:59with an opponent of that speed. Because Dubois
- 31:07isn't that explosive, but he's quite precise
- 31:09because of how Don Charles handles him. Go on.
- 31:20I'm saying he's quite lumbering. His jab is not
- 31:24better than Itama's. His jab is better than Wardley
- 31:28and Joshua's, who are guys who... It's extra
- 31:32disappointing with Joshua, but also you have
- 31:37to consider Davidson was training him for that
- 31:39two -ball fight. And Joshua is someone who actually
- 31:43needs a good coach. They tend to abandon their
- 31:48jabs. That's the one thing I think Atama's been
- 31:53really solid on, where even if his opponent is,
- 31:57to put it bluntly, a can, he still stays on his
- 32:00jab to set everything up. Well, let's keep it
- 32:09rolling. We got a few more pieces of news. Vito
- 32:14Melnicki signs with Matchroom. I know the world
- 32:18has been waiting to hear about Melnicki. And
- 32:24sign with Zufa, which is a win here. Do you think
- 32:30that Zufa would be a good spot for a guy like
- 32:34Melnicki? Depends. How much of Melnicki are you
- 32:39willing to see? I mean, I don't watch a whole
- 32:43lot of Zufa, so I don't know. Maybe then. I was
- 32:47going to say, how much on the shelf do you want
- 32:49him? He's not great, but he is at 160. With Adamas
- 32:56moving up and Janabek out of the picture for
- 32:59a little bit. And he is in the rankings for everything
- 33:04except the WBA, I think. I believe you're correct.
- 33:10He has an IBF trinket, a WBC trinket, and a WBO
- 33:14trinket. So he's at least in the rankings. So,
- 33:18you know, could be very interesting there. Let's
- 33:26see. That being said, I'm not a... He's also
- 33:33very mediocre, so we have to... He wins a...
- 33:37If we have to see Lara put about the pasture
- 33:39eventually, I'll kind of cry laughing. Because
- 33:43there's a non -zero chance he picks up a belt
- 33:46and then Lara unifies and kills him. And this
- 33:50is like a mid -40s Lara. Lara is 43. And I have
- 33:58100 % certainty that he puts Milnicki out to
- 34:01pasture in six rounds. The state of middleweight
- 34:12is great, guys. Glamour division. Glamour division.
- 34:19We have people moving up because they can't find
- 34:21anyone to fight. People busting for drugs. Cheating.
- 34:26People busting for the entire pharmacy against
- 34:2943 -year -olds. And for the aforementioned 43
- 34:32-year -olds, Reigning King. A toughest division.
- 34:37Literally aging out. Literally somehow outlasted
- 34:41everyone. Marlon Tapalas is moving up to 126.
- 34:52Again, I know the world has been waiting. He
- 34:56beat MJ, so that was fun. Ended up getting sparked
- 35:01by Inouye, as we all knew he would. Oh, yeah.
- 35:08And now here he is, moving up in weight. Just
- 35:13given the champs at 126, I don't see this move
- 35:17going really well for Marlon. No, I think it's
- 35:21just, you know, you're older, the weight cuts
- 35:24are harder. You still feel like you have some
- 35:28juice left. Give it a go, see what happens. Give
- 35:35it a go. Yeah, the phrase give it a go has been
- 35:42tainted, but that's... Josh Kelly will be defending
- 35:51his title against Kevin Ajiarko. This will be
- 35:57in a few weeks on the AJ Pranga undercard. Yeah,
- 36:03they made this guy up. Ajiarko? They made this
- 36:10guy up. This is an AI -generated boxer. I saw
- 36:14him fight Ishmael Davis. That's how I know how
- 36:17to pronounce his name. I'm recognizing the guys
- 36:21he fought, but for some reason I have memory
- 36:24of his existence. I remember watching the Troy
- 36:28Williamson fight. That was Conlon getting killed
- 36:34by Jordan Gill. But I just, like, memory hold
- 36:40his entire existence. So. You know, I guess Josh
- 36:49Kelly does deserve a soft, soft touch. Considering
- 36:53he just beat Bakram Mordezaliev. I'm not mad
- 37:02at it, as I probably should be. But. You know,
- 37:08it'd be even funnier if a Yarko wins. Because
- 37:14then we can see another belt holder, a 154, before
- 37:19a certain Californian. A certain Californian
- 37:25who... Isn't he from San Antonio? A certain Texan.
- 37:32Honestly, it's... Here's a Wikipedia page. Never
- 37:36mind, I just saw. He was supposed to fight Brandon
- 37:38Adams. Oh, that's the one. When Brandon Adams
- 37:41collapsed in his hotel room. He was supposed
- 37:45to fight Brandon Adams. Okay. Okay, it's coming
- 37:54back to me. Why am I with Brandon Adams? No,
- 37:59my God, I can't fucking speak. Why am I with
- 38:00Brandon Adams again? Brandon Adams collapsed
- 38:01in his hotel room after the weigh -in. Really?
- 38:05So the fight got cancelled. That's fucked up.
- 38:12I don't remember that. No, it's coming back to
- 38:16me. It's coming back to me. Well, that's all
- 38:23we got on the news front. Unless there's anything
- 38:25I missed. No. Oh, beloved listener, there might
- 38:32be something you're thinking we didn't bring
- 38:34up. But we'll talk about it next time, I assure
- 38:37you. Let's see here. If you want to join us in

- 41:57-o -t -o -n. Fun. Oh man, the reviews are light.
- 42:08Boy, oh boy. Let's start with Sunday, June 14th.
- 42:13Salida Promotions. In Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- 42:18Just a few. Some selects that I wanted to point
- 42:21out. Bryant Jennings gets a UD. So Unk still
- 42:26got it. Represent for us, Bryant. Unk still got
- 42:33it. Unk still got it. Troy Isley makes his Salida
- 42:38debut. Gets a stoppage in five. Over Leonardo
- 42:43DiStefano. I will be writing him a strongly worded
- 42:47letter to change his name for being a fucking
- 42:50loser. Joshua Pagan, UD over Rodolfo Bustamante.
- 42:58And Jonathan Gonzalez drops the ball, gets beat
- 43:03by Abraham Perez. Moving to MF Pro at Thunder
- 43:10Studios. Just a few selects. Ernesto Mercado,
- 43:16KO2 over Juan Carlos Burgos. That was a nice
- 43:20fight. Ernesto is really building himself up
- 43:24here. I appreciate seeing him not go to Zufa.
- 43:30I think he was a 360 promotions guy. Our co -main,
- 43:39Devin Cushing. Gets a UD over John. Is it Jahan?
- 43:44It's a J apostrophe H -O -N. Jahan, yeah, it
- 43:48looks like that. I'm going with Jahan Ingram.
- 43:53And Ashton Silva, UD over Jojo Diaz. Jesus Christ,
- 44:04this was a painful watch. It was a tough one.
- 44:07This is a tough one to watch. Not because of
- 44:10JoJo's lack of trying or effort or being terrible
- 44:15or being a pedophile. Alleged pedophile. No,
- 44:21actual pedophile. I think it was adjudicated.
- 44:24Yeah, he was ordered to pay damages to that teenager,
- 44:27so yes, pedophile. Yeah, what's wrong with Sylvie?
- 44:34I don't know, man. What's wrong with him? All
- 44:38of the ingredients were there for Sylvie to produce
- 44:44something, and he cruised for no reason. He didn't
- 44:50even cruise. He was actually getting pushed back
- 44:52and touched up. In the later rounds, he was getting
- 44:54his shit pushed in. Gave you some difficulty.
- 44:58He did. This guy's in late -stage Regis program
- 45:02level. And they were rocking each other in that
- 45:06Regis Prograde fight. At least they were going
- 45:10like band for band. This was just Sylvie getting
- 45:13pushed in for a couple rounds. Not great. What
- 45:22do you guys think Sylvie does next? I'm not even
- 45:26sure what you should do. It's gotta be some other...
- 45:30Might be another MF Pro guy. Jesus. Send him
- 45:34to the pro box, dude. Two, three years. Forget.
- 45:38Yeah, pro box. Forget if you have hope in him.
- 45:42If you don't have hope with him, ship him to
- 45:43Zufa. Ryo needs guys. True dat. Ryo needs to
- 45:49be fed, so send him to Zufa. Because I don't
- 45:54care that he's 22. This is a level of apathetic
- 45:59mediocrity that you can't fix. You know? I would
- 46:06say that's a really good fork in the road. If
- 46:09you believe in him, you match him tough like
- 46:13Probox. If you don't believe in him, then send
- 46:16him to Zufa to get fucking eaten alive. Yeah,
- 46:20Ryo can eat him up and you get actually a pretty
- 46:23decent promoter's cut out of it. Because, you
- 46:26know, Dana White only robs the fighters. Pretty
- 46:34good. I saw some of the hype when he was on the
- 46:40Jake Paul shows. Yeah, I saw him on one of those.
- 46:44He had some potential and he had energy, right?
- 46:49He had swag. There's a bit of a rough diamond
- 46:53that you can polish out, that you can buff out,
- 46:55right? But this was really apathetic against
- 47:00JoJo, who like... JoJo looked pretty happy that
- 47:05if you gave him an excuse to, he could have lied
- 47:07down and left early. I'm going to go one step
- 47:13further and say send the pro box and send Robert.
- 47:17Robert does wonders with guys like Ash and Sylvie.
- 47:21It depends on whether Sylvie wants it, though.
- 47:24He looked so apathetic. That's the word I'll
- 47:28keep using here. Like Jared Anderson, apathetic?
- 47:33Well, Anderson doesn't want to box, period. He
- 47:36looked... But the thing is that if you start
- 47:38pushing Anderson's shit in, he reacts. Like with
- 47:41Charles Martin, right? Didn't do so well with
- 47:46Martin Bacoli. That was bad matchmaking. But
- 47:54he was kind of listless at the start with Martin.
- 47:56Martin really started giving it to him and he
- 47:58reacted. Here it was like you just, you were
- 48:02basically, like it's the equivalent of, you ever
- 48:04watch that scene in The Sopranos when Vito's
- 48:06actually doing a hard day's work? It can't be
- 48:10only 11 .15. Yeah. It's fucking 11 .15. Fuck!
- 48:17Yeah, like that's what it felt like. Like he
- 48:19was struggling not to look up at the clock. There
- 48:26can't be two minutes left in the round. Ah, shit.
- 48:29There's two minutes left in the fucking round.
- 48:32Like, and I don't even respect JoJo that much
- 48:35in his prime, but I'm saying like a JoJo who...
- 48:38Prime JoJo? Not even prime JoJo. JoJo six years
- 48:43ago still gave a shit about boxing instead of
- 48:45sexting teenagers. JoJo six years ago was...
- 48:49He was never good. JoJo six years ago was a flyweight,
- 48:54by the way. Or no, it was a featherweight. Yeah,
- 48:58it was a feather. It was a featherweight, and
- 49:00we were at 147 now, so... Mother of God. Just...
- 49:08It's just tough. Not to watch JoJo like this.
- 49:13I need JoJo against someone a little better who
- 49:15can stop him repeatedly, but... Sylvie, like...
- 49:20I feel like especially because a lot of the dialogue
- 49:22in the lead up to him having more of a stage,
- 49:25I guess, on this one, you know, headlining it
- 49:28was, you know, Jake Paul abandoned me. MVP abandoned
- 49:34me. I still have a lot more in me. I'm just 22.
- 49:38I'm way more talented than why they dropped me.
- 49:41And then he shows us this. Yeah, well, now we
- 49:46know why we dropped you. Yeah, like it's a soft
- 49:48admission that, yeah. They were fucking right
- 49:51to drop you, dude. Maybe Bozy can help Ashton.
- 50:02We just need a guy who... Honestly, who's his
- 50:06trainer now, actually? No idea. I was gonna say,
- 50:13he's probably... He's probably had his own trainer
- 50:16forever. Nah, his dad. Yeah, Ivan. Yeah, so I'm
- 50:22like, you need a... Okay, so you need a real
- 50:23trainer, is what I'm hearing. That's Robert,
- 50:29dude. I don't know if... Bozy's not going to
- 50:30be the good... No, I don't think Bozy's a good
- 50:33fit, but I think Robert might be a better fit.
- 50:35You just need someone to put some more energy
- 50:38into you. More time and attention, some more
- 50:42TLC. Just, you need to have more energy when
- 50:46you're fighting these... Crossroads fights. That's
- 50:49Robert's middle name is TLC. Especially like
- 50:53he needs a new environment. You know what? If
- 50:55Abel Sanchez is still training, guys, I wouldn't
- 50:57mind Sanchez as a shout. Get a new environment
- 51:00because I'm reading that he's training out of
- 51:02out of like, you know, Floyd's like gym in Las
- 51:05Vegas, like the. The one that took over. Yeah,
- 51:10basically he's training there and he's training.
- 51:14with his dad at home, and I'm just like, you
- 51:16need to... I feel like Big Bear, you know, it
- 51:19won't do much for the skills, but he clearly
- 51:21has the skills, he just doesn't have the intangibles.
- 51:25Big Bear or Indio? That's what I'm saying, like,
- 51:28Big Bear's a good change of scenery, able, you
- 51:31know, make you work. I feel like Kronk is also
- 51:36a good choice, because, you know, Sugar Hill's
- 51:39no Manny, but he's still extremely serviceable.
- 51:46He's done okay on his own. He's no Manny as you're
- 51:51not the greatest trainer of all time. But I'm
- 51:59saying there are guys who are not your dad who
- 52:01can give you that change in scenery you would
- 52:05probably like. Let's keep it rolling. We got
- 52:13two more cards that are just very special. Queensbury
- 52:22on the zone at St. Mary's Stadium in Southampton,
- 52:26England. Shit, dog. I got main event, Ryan Garner,
- 52:35UD over Michael Magnesi. interim WBC super featherweight
- 52:41title was on the line. The WBC is becoming very
- 52:46WBA like in the way that they throw out interims
- 52:52and stuff. And then make the champion the favorite
- 53:00fucking guy in the world and not have the interim
- 53:05fight the champion. Never. Never consolidate.
- 53:11This is why we stand with the IBF and nobody
- 53:13fights for the IBF. One of the best guys. You
- 53:21know who's really turned it around in recent
- 53:24years since they got that new CEO or whatever?
- 53:29The WBO? Yeah, they've been pretty good. They've
- 53:33really turned it around and I really appreciate
- 53:36it. Yeah, but you can still tell that they got
- 53:40a good relationship with Bob. Oh, of course.
- 53:42Whatever Bob orders. Yeah. Whatever Bob orders
- 53:51is quite correct, but we'll talk about that next
- 53:55time. I have a comment about that next time.
- 54:01Let's move to Goldenboy on DAZN. At the Front
- 54:05Wave Arena in Oceanside, California. Let me pick
- 54:10out a few moving up the bill. Fucking Joshua
- 54:14Edwards. Stoppage in two. Back to your usual
- 54:18winning ways. The new top American heavyweight.
- 54:24Joshua Edwards. I'm here for it, baby. The day
- 54:31that there are no Joshua Edwards fans. is the
- 54:34day that I'm dead. I think I made a joke about,
- 54:38we were talking about it in the Discord chat
- 54:41earlier, and I saw American Heavyweight and was
- 54:44like, he doesn't have the makings of a varsity
- 54:46athlete. I saw American Heavyweight, I'm out.
- 54:54I like him, but like, oh man, it's best, my expectations
- 54:58are low as a result of American Heavyweight.
- 55:01And his last outing. Well, that too. My expectations
- 55:06of an American heavyweight, I just completely
- 55:07fucking plummeted. He's not welcome in our social
- 55:12club no more. Social club? He's gotta go. He
- 55:19was gay, Dan Raphael. Oh, that's so good. Alright,
- 55:33moving up. Ruslan Abdullayev gets the stoppage
- 55:37in five. Over eight. I did confuse him for Shagayev
- 55:44for a second. I was like, he's still around?
- 55:47Nah. Oh, no. Different guy. Yep. And main event.
- 55:55Oscar Collazo stops Nieder Valdez in two. This
- 56:02was contested at Flyweight. Interesting. They
- 56:07had opponent one, Joey Kanhoye, lined up. He
- 56:11couldn't get his visa lined up. So they got a
- 56:15second opponent, again, could not get the visa
- 56:19lined up. And this was the third option. Classic.
- 56:28You love the tiny guys. This is pretty normal
- 56:32for the tiny guys at this point. Especially at
- 56:36minimum weight, like random. Basically, you don't
- 56:38even know who you're fighting on fight day. Well,
- 56:42we'll talk about later. Joe Cordina got a visa
- 56:46issue as well. Yeah, it's generally been an issue
- 56:50with the States. To be fair. With the US, it
- 56:53has been lately. Yes. Yes. To be fair, Cordina's
- 56:57visa issue is... incredibly stupid and self -inflicted
- 57:03in a way. Yeah. Right. What are we doing doing
- 57:09that? What Cordina did? Let's get to that. Yeah.
- 57:17Let me put some last notes in here. The social

- 57:57I think it's pretty well put together, but I
- 58:00might be a little biased. And while you're there,
- 58:02check out the written content. What do we got?
- 58:05What's the latest we got? The Ode to Probox.
- 58:09Ode to Probox, which, oh, that was a scarily
- 58:13bad time considering the rumors that came out
- 58:15as soon as it was written and published. But
- 58:19we're good. And I'll probably do a review of
- 58:21the heavyweight landscape once a certain fight
- 58:24this week. Is it this week or next week? Next
- 58:26week. Next week occurs. I have that in the works.
- 58:33I do want to mention from our last thing, Jair
- 58:37Gallardo and Bunit Bisla fought. And Gallardo
- 58:43won a unanimous decision with Bisla down in the
- 58:46second round. My thoughts on this are quite simple.
- 58:49I think Bisla needs to move down to 168. He's
- 58:52a rather... He's tall. He's 6 '2", but he's very...
- 58:56His frame is not built for light heavyweight.
- 58:59He weighed in at 170 for this fight. Oh, no.
- 59:04He's not made for 170. That's a whole five pounds.
- 59:08Like, if you were at 173, maybe, but... Like,
- 59:13when he fought Khalil Coe... Khalil, like, you
- 59:17know how Khalil Coe's like, yeah, he's, like,
- 59:19he's a, he's an actual light heavyweight, right?
- 59:21Yeah. But he, he's, Coe is shorter than Bisla
- 59:27and still look, like, dwarfed him in size. Just
- 59:32physical presence in size. Um, I don't even think
- 59:35Bisla's all that bad for a Canadian, um, boxer.
- 59:42Um, he's just, You know, knowing his management,
- 59:47they match him as tough as possible as soon as
- 59:50possible. But it's just light heavyweight is
- 59:55not it for this man. We've seen twice that, you
- 1:00:00know, if the size disparity wasn't that enormous,
- 1:00:04he'd probably have been given more of a chance
- 1:00:08to win those fights. And 168 is open right now.
- 1:00:13right yeah yeah like it's it's pretty easy to
- 1:00:16get into the mix and become a prospect instead
- 1:00:19of taking weird fights at 175 because he's not
- 1:00:29bad he's not bad at all from the eye test he's
- 1:00:32just he like you cannot make it at 175 being
- 1:00:37physically outgunned by every guy you fight yeah
- 1:00:42coming in five pounds light that tells me that
- 1:00:46you're not rehydrating the same way that those
- 1:00:49guys are yeah but even just it's just this frame
- 1:00:53you know like i need this i need to see it like
- 1:00:56you need to try to get to 168 and you know if
- 1:01:01you can't you can't but at least at least try
- 1:01:07working down through some catch weights man give
- 1:01:10it a go because There's a lot more success at
- 1:01:12168 when the guys are, like, again, the guys
- 1:01:16go from, like, 510 to 64 to, like, in BLE, 58.
- 1:01:23Like, they're definitely more your speed, and
- 1:01:28you get to use a lot more of your leverage. Anyways,
- 1:01:33moving on. All right. Do you ever feel like you're
- 1:01:37staring at your screen through a thick layer
- 1:01:39of fog? You've got the coffee, you've got the
- 1:01:42to -do list, but your brain just isn't clicking
- 1:01:45into gear. Most of us just reach for another
- 1:01:48hit of caffeine, but that usually just leads
- 1:01:50to a crash, not a breakthrough. It's time to
- 1:01:53upgrade your cognitive fuel with psilocybin.

- 1:02:51After spending six years in the military and
- 1:02:54throughout my life since, I've tried my fair
- 1:02:56share of energy drinks. All the different brands,
- 1:02:59all the different flavors, and it took some time

- 1:04:10It is a light weekend. Friday, July 3rd. This
- 1:04:18is a German word. It's spelled Ruhe, but I don't
- 1:04:23know if that's how it's actually said. at the
- 1:04:26Eissport Hall in Essen, Germany. Our favorite,
- 1:04:32William Skoll, is back against Evander Castillo
- 1:04:37in an eight -rounder. An eight -rounder, no less.
- 1:04:44At light heavyweight, it seems. Oh, let's not
- 1:04:47fix everything. Castillo's a career light heavyweight.
- 1:04:53Well... He jumps from middleweight to light heavyweight,
- 1:04:56but he's ranked at light heavyweight. Ranked
- 1:05:00being a very light... I have it marked at super
- 1:05:04middle. Super middle? Yeah. It's possible that
- 1:05:08Skull moved up. Or they could just be at a bit
- 1:05:13of a flabby catch weight since it's an eight
- 1:05:15-rounder. But just wanted to put that one on
- 1:05:21the radar just because there's so little boxing
- 1:05:23this weekend. If you really want to watch something
- 1:05:26Friday morning on the West Coast about 8 in the
- 1:05:32morning, the card starts. And it's a pretty deep
- 1:05:37event. So expect Skull to be somewhere in the
- 1:05:45neighborhood of 2. It's a German card. The venue
- 1:05:50is pretty cool. Honestly, I like watching German
- 1:05:57cards regardless of the boxing level just because
- 1:06:00they are fun. They show up. The people show up.
- 1:06:06They show up. The production quality is also
- 1:06:08great. You're going to see 4K cameras most likely,
- 1:06:11which you never see anywhere else. Does DAZN
- 1:06:16even render in? 4k no but they have the cameras
- 1:06:22for it at um in the german events the german
- 1:06:26events they they have the production so it'll
- 1:06:28be it's it's always worth watching just to see
- 1:06:32what box what what boxing could be like if everyone
- 1:06:35cared this much and saturday july 4th Happy birthday,
- 1:06:47America. This is the real White House card. This
- 1:06:53is the real fucking deal. All -American boxing
- 1:06:57on July 4th. So top rank at the Wolstein Center
- 1:07:01in Cleveland, Ohio. From the bottom up, Abdurahman
- 1:07:08Mason is 2 -0 versus Alvaro Huiza. They got all
- 1:07:15the Masons. Yeah. The second Mason brother, Ibrahim
- 1:07:20Mason versus Eric Hanley. Four rounds at Superfeather.
- 1:07:27Derek Davis versus Carlos Ramos. Eight rounds
- 1:07:32at Lightweight. Delonte Johnson versus Christopher
- 1:07:34Guerrero. Ten rounds at Welter. Bruce fucking
- 1:07:39Carrington versus Rene Palacios at The WBC featherweight
- 1:07:46title is on the line. The commemorative belt
- 1:07:50is not the WBC's best work this time around.
- 1:07:55Never is. Never is. They do do some cool ones
- 1:07:59sometimes, but this one ain't it. It's always
- 1:08:03the most ill -fitting fights for the cool ones.
- 1:08:06I think the only fitting fight for a cool one
- 1:08:09was that money belt for the... The Mayweather
- 1:08:13-McGregor fight. That money belt was hilarious
- 1:08:17and gaudy and it was great. But it's the type
- 1:08:23of shit that those dudes like. I wonder if Floyd
- 1:08:28still owns that belt if he had to pawn it. I
- 1:08:32wonder if he still actually owns that belt. Main
- 1:08:38event. WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason
- 1:08:43against late replacement Albert Bell. So what
- 1:08:48was it that Cordina, what was the situation with
- 1:08:51that? Road rage incident where he was waving
- 1:08:54a gun around at the person he was road raging
- 1:08:58at. They allowed guns in Wales? I don't see that.
- 1:09:03Where did you get that from? No, hence the...
- 1:09:06Hence the... Problem, yeah, okay. So that's why
- 1:09:10I'm like, normally, especially with the minimum
- 1:09:13weight guys we just talked about, I'm like, okay,
- 1:09:15this is blatant. You're from a country they don't
- 1:09:19want. You fight at a weight no one gives a shit
- 1:09:23about. No one gives a shit about you, dirty immigrants.
- 1:09:27See ya. But with this one, I'm like, you did
- 1:09:30it to yourself, man. What are you doing in Wales
- 1:09:32waving guns around at people? What are you doing
- 1:09:35in Wales with a gun? I don't care how bad the
- 1:09:39other driver's pissing you off. Like, you have
- 1:09:42a world title fight next week. What the fuck
- 1:09:44are we doing? Well, honestly, this fight might
- 1:09:47even be better than the Cordina fight. I agree.
- 1:09:51Bell is a little unproven. I don't mind him.
- 1:09:54He's just kind of old for lightweight. Old, but
- 1:09:58you know he's unproven. Like, we don't know what
- 1:10:00to make. He was a six foot. Exactly. Six foot
- 1:10:04at lightweight? yeah goodness fucking gracious
- 1:10:09that was also six foot um what i will say mainly
- 1:10:15here is i really want we get i really want mason
- 1:10:19to just listen to his corner please oh my god
- 1:10:22of all the fights that you're going to follow
- 1:10:26their advice please let it be this one For the
- 1:10:30love of God, dude. I was so... The Sam Noakes
- 1:10:33fight was only competitive because every... Mason
- 1:10:37would piece Noakes up and then he'd stop listening
- 1:10:40to his corner. I was pulling hair at the end
- 1:10:46of that fight. No, I mean, Abdullah Mason, he's
- 1:10:52solid. We all know he's solid. And you're right.
- 1:10:57He gave away those rounds against... Sam Noakes,
- 1:11:00and the thing is that if he does that against
- 1:11:03someone that's unproven, it could be a pretty
- 1:11:06hard night, I'll say. With that type of height
- 1:11:09advantage. Exactly, and his reach is 73 inches.
- 1:11:13Jesus Christ. For lightweight, that's pretty
- 1:11:17fucking crazy. I've seen enough Albert Bell to
- 1:11:20know that he's going to be a really formidable
- 1:11:23opponent for Abdullah. I think, honestly... He's
- 1:11:27probably a better opponent than Sam Noakes. Probably
- 1:11:30might be Abdullah's hardest fight in his career.
- 1:11:33That might be a weird thing to say considering
- 1:11:36how much we don't really know about our bell.
- 1:11:39But I don't know. I just think it's going to
- 1:11:43be a rough night for Abdullah. Man. Agree. I
- 1:11:48think. Oh, my God. It's just like this should
- 1:11:52be a wash. It's almost a guarantee. He will not
- 1:11:55listen to his corner. Try to put on a flashy
- 1:12:00performance. Not even. It's just like there's
- 1:12:03no IQ. There's just zero. If he listened to his
- 1:12:08corner, things would be easy because he has all
- 1:12:10the gifts and all the talent and the ability
- 1:12:13to do it. Abdullah, you're my all -American boy,
- 1:12:21man. You're the all -American fighter. Come on,
- 1:12:26dude. You got to pull it together, especially
- 1:12:29on this event. Please, man. I genuinely think
- 1:12:39that this is probably going to be Abdullah's
- 1:12:41hardest fight. With those physical advantages
- 1:12:44for Albert Bell, yeah, I think you're fucking
- 1:12:47right. He's never faced anything like that. He's
- 1:12:50going to be punished even more so for being a
- 1:12:53dumbass, which he will be a dumbass. He inevitably
- 1:12:58will be a dumbass. Yeah, like it's not, I'm not
- 1:13:02being mean. It's just like, because normally
- 1:13:04you can blame the corner because a fighter will
- 1:13:06look at their corner for wisdom or any type of
- 1:13:10adjustment. And sometimes the corner doesn't
- 1:13:12produce it. Namely, Ben Davidson is incapable
- 1:13:14of producing anything useful. But no, his corner
- 1:13:20produced it. His quarters telling him not even
- 1:13:24like a complicated, like, let me drop a play
- 1:13:26for you. Just very simple, direct instructions
- 1:13:30that he can clearly listen to for the first minute
- 1:13:33of a round. So it's just, you can't blame anyone
- 1:13:41but him. I think we're going to see a good fight
- 1:13:46on Saturday. I think it'll be fun. I got Abdullah
- 1:13:51Minako. I will be very frustrated. I think it'll
- 1:13:58be a wide decision. We'll see. I'm not even sure
- 1:14:03what to pick. I'm thinking Abdullah decision
- 1:14:05as well. But I think it's going to be a hard
- 1:14:09fight. Abdullah... Deciding to fight like a fucking
- 1:14:14moron for whatever his rationale might be. And
- 1:14:19then facing his own Sebastian Fundura. This has
- 1:14:28all the makings of a bad night for the Mason
- 1:14:33clan. That's all we got on the docket, though.
- 1:14:48Shall we get out of here? Oh, yeah. All right,
- 1:14:53so we're heading into the 4th of July. We've
- 1:14:56got Abdullah Mason on the cards. Parting words.
- 1:15:06Don't break my heart, Mason, please. Prove who
- 1:15:10you are. That ring. Rolls are being sent to Probox.
- 1:15:17You know what? Let me... Abdullah Mason listening
- 1:15:20to his corner before Virgil fights for his strap.
- 1:15:23That's what we're hoping for. That's what we're
- 1:15:25hoping for. Again. I gotta hear this shit every
- 1:15:29time. Every single time. It only ages... It only...
- 1:15:32This joke only ages better. Talk about age good
- 1:15:40next time. I was ready for Joel Embiid to make
- 1:15:47a conference finals this year just to make Virgil
- 1:15:51the last unachiever standing. But, you know.
- 1:15:59I'll just repeat my bit. Abdullah Mason, you're
- 1:16:04the all -American lad this weekend. The fucking
- 1:16:09world. Well, not the world. The U .S. They're
- 1:16:12going to be watching you. There's no MMA this
- 1:16:15weekend. This is it. Like for fight sports, this
- 1:16:19is it. So, yeah. And this one's going to be on
- 1:16:23TNT. So it's going to be on cable television.
- 1:16:28The world's going to be watching. I keep saying
- 1:16:32the world. America's going to be watching. We,
- 1:16:35yes we. We, yes we, will be watching. We will
- 1:16:39be sat down. All right. That's it for this edition
- 1:16:45of the Boxing B -Sides. Man, we'll see you on
- 1:16:48the other side of Abdullah Mason. We're going
- 1:16:50to be talking about Jerron Boots Ennis. Why should...
- 1:17:11A boxing fan watch MMA. Okay, here's my pitch.
- 1:17:17The reason that a boxing fan would consider watching
- 1:17:21MMA in the year of our Lord, 2026, is that MMA
- 1:17:24is cheaper and more accessible than it's ever
- 1:17:26been in its lifetime. Our biggest organization,
- 1:17:30the UFC, has done away with pay -per -views.
- 1:17:33It's now just like a $15 a month payment to Paramount
- 1:17:36+, and you get 40... plus fight cards a year
- 1:17:41um and it's not just the UFC you have organizations
- 1:17:45like 1FC and Ryzen that put stuff directly on
- 1:17:49YouTube for free to watch and you're able to
- 1:17:53see a wide variety of high level skills like
- 1:17:56this is not just like amateur or shit unless
- 1:17:58we're talking about the heavyweight division
- 1:18:00but boxing fans can relate to uh the gap of skill
- 1:18:04there um These are some of the most talented
- 1:18:07athletes in the world, and they're fighting,
- 1:18:09especially if I can point out the Muay Thai stuff
- 1:18:12that happens in 1FC. It's phenomenal. Another
- 1:18:16reason that a boxing fan would want this, would
- 1:18:19want to jump in now, is that I think unlike a
- 1:18:22lot of the cards you're used to watching in boxing,
- 1:18:25MMA cards are worth watching from the start.
- 1:18:29You don't have to wait until the co -main to
- 1:18:32see... something that isn't complete nerd shit
- 1:18:35most of the times you're seeing even if it's
- 1:18:38a lower skill uh feeling you're still seeing
- 1:18:42fights that are exciting and compelling to watch
- 1:18:45um we just came off the backs of usc 327 and
- 1:18:49that card top to bottom was like absolutely stacked
- 1:18:52so great example you can watch the whole thing
- 1:18:56for you know in bits and pieces or from start
- 1:19:00to finish and paramount plus right now, if you
- 1:19:02subscribe, so paramount, give us some money.
- 1:19:05We're doing, doing marketing for you. So that
- 1:19:08would be my pitch. Perfect. If you do decide
