- 0:00The Florida Panthers are really starting to rapidly
- 0:06accelerate up to the top of the list of teams
- 0:09that I'm starting to genuinely hate. They're
- 0:12absolutely pissing me the fuck off. There's three
- 0:16players specifically that I have in mind that
- 0:19I just wanted to open the show with and discuss
- 0:21about. Two of them that are more kind of like
- 0:24the Brad Marchand that you just... The type of
- 0:27guys that you hate to play against. But you would
- 0:31love to have on your team, not like Brad Marchand,
- 0:33because one of them is being Brad Marchand. One
- 0:37of those guys you would love to have on your
- 0:38team, you just hate to play against. Other one
- 0:41being Matthew Kachuk. Matthew Kachuk, he is one
- 0:45of those that, he's feisty, but he's a damn good
- 0:48player. He knows how to get the puck into the
- 0:50back of the net. He's a great two -way forward,
- 0:52great 200 -foot player. But his physical side
- 0:55of it, you hate to play against the kid. I got
- 0:57to start to tell her in a little bit. So just
- 0:59keep Matthew Kachuk in the background. It's going
- 1:03to be hard to, but I mean, I guess. The third
- 1:05one that I would like to mention, being more
- 1:09of a comparable to like a Matt Cook. Even somebody
- 1:13that played for my favorite team was a little
- 1:15pisshead. He was a little shit, probably one
- 1:18of the dirtiest players to ever play in this
- 1:21league. And that is what I think I can compare
- 1:23somebody like Sam Bennett to. I would never like
- 1:26to have Sam Bennett play for my team. I would
- 1:28be very, very upset if Sam Bennett signs with
- 1:30the Pittsburgh Penguins in the offseason. I'd
- 1:32be very disappointed. I'd be very, very mad about
- 1:35that. Just because he, like, what, two series
- 1:38in a row now he has tried to take out the goaltender
- 1:40in the playoffs. I think it was game one is the
- 1:44reason he took Stolarz out in the Toronto series.
- 1:46Game one, like, second period or something like
- 1:48that. Right early on. I think I remember if it
- 1:51was game... four or game five of this Carolina
- 1:55series, where he tried to go after Freddie Anderson,
- 1:58but I think, thank God, I think Freddie Anderson
- 2:00was able to duck out of the way. So two series
- 2:03in a row that he tries to go after the goaltender,
- 2:06one of them being successful, one of them, goaltender
- 2:08got very, very lucky, almost like he was in the
- 2:11wrong place at the right time. He was just able
- 2:14to move out of the way and avoid that. Sam Bennett
- 2:19can suck my ass. Matthew Kachuk and Brad Marchand,
- 2:23again, just two players that you'd love to have
- 2:25on your team, but you hate to play against those
- 2:28little shits. Brad Marchand, I mean, his nose
- 2:31takes up half the ice. Kind of fits with the
- 2:34rats with them now, throat rats. Yeah, for real.
- 2:37He's a hell of a player. You'd love to have him
- 2:39play for your team. You just hate to play against
- 2:43him. Florida Panthers, those three players specifically
- 2:47are the reason that I'm very much starting to
- 2:48hate. Sam Bennett alone makes me hate this fucking
- 2:53team. If Sam Bennett wasn't on that team, I might
- 2:55at least be able to tolerate him. I can appreciate
- 2:57how good of a team they have been. Regardless,
- 2:59I can. They have been a good team for all the
- 3:02past three years. You'd think the Panthers went
- 3:05from being just a mediocre barely -missing -the
- 3:10-wildcard kind of team. Not even fan bases were
- 3:14not even showing up. And now they're finally...
- 3:18Yeah, I mean, it's bandwagon. No matter what
- 3:19team, what city, sport, city, team it is, you're
- 3:23going to have some bandwagoners hop on the train
- 3:25and they'll say, oh yeah, I've always been a
- 3:27fan. Okay, sure you have. Yeah, you're part of
- 3:30the 28 fans they had since they stuck, so. And
- 3:33you think now, looking at it, it's crazy to think
- 3:35now both the Lightning and the Panthers are now
- 3:39making... The state of Florida. The state of
- 3:44Florida, a hockey town, a hockey state, a hockey
- 3:46place to be, man. Now six years in a row, a Florida
- 3:50team has represented the Stanley Cup. Now eight
- 3:56Atlantic Conference teams have been in the last
- 4:01seven Stanley Cup finals. Oh, where'd the eight
- 4:05come from? Oh, Montreal versus Tampa Bay in the
- 4:08bubble. That wasn't in the bubble. That was the
- 4:11year after the COVID year where crowds were almost
- 4:15at 1. The North Division. But instead of the
- 4:20common divisions battling it out, I think they
- 4:22did... Did they go seeding that year? Instead
- 4:25of division versus divisions? I forget how they
- 4:28did it. Inner division matchups. So the first
- 4:31two rounds, inner division, 1v4, 2v3. Again,
- 4:36for the first two rounds, and then round three,
- 4:39it was, you know, best of the East. It was just
- 4:41because Montreal was up in the North, instead
- 4:45of rather being in the Atlantic Division, they
- 4:46were in the North. Yeah. And they got to play
- 4:49the Atlantic Division, or I think the Bruins
- 4:52were in the East that year. Yeah, the Bruins.
- 4:53Sorry, the Lightning, I think, were in the Atlantic
- 4:55still that year. Oh, yeah, it was East, which
- 4:57it was both Florida teams. Pittsburgh, Boston,
- 5:04Buffalo, New Jersey. Was Florida in the East
- 5:06that year? Well, Florida is east side of the
- 5:10state. Yeah. Tampa is west side of the state,
- 5:14the Gulf side of the state. It was what? Carolina,
- 5:17Florida teams, Pittsburgh, Philly, Boston, Buffalo,
- 5:20I think was in our division that year. Yeah,
- 5:22and then New York brought on both the Ragsons.
- 5:25Yeah. That was a strange year, man. Yeah, that's
- 5:30not good. Actually, let's go back on the app.
- 5:34It doesn't go back that far. You might not even
- 5:37be able to look up 2021 divisions. Yeah, so the
- 5:47Atlantic, we always say, and we've thought for
- 5:50a couple years, that the Metro is one of the
- 5:51hardest divisions to play in, but apparently
- 5:53not. I mean, the last seven years, or I should
- 5:57say eight years, the last seven years, eight
- 5:58Atlantic Division teams have been in the Stanley
- 6:01Cup Finals. We're all wrong. Central Division,
- 6:04Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Nashville, Dallas,
- 6:07Chicago, Detroit, and Columbus. East Division
- 6:11is Pittsburgh, Washington, Boston, Both the Islanders
- 6:15and the Rags, Flyers, Devils, Sabres. The West
- 6:19Division, obviously, is the rest of the American
- 6:22-based teams in Colorado, Vegas, Minnesota, St.
- 6:25Louis, Arizona, L .A., San Jose, and Anaheim.
- 6:29Obviously, the North Division being all the Canadian
- 6:32-based teams. What a weird fucking year. That
- 6:37was a weird year. Such a strange year, man. But
- 6:43the Panthers and the Lightning have been the
- 6:47teams to beat. I know Colin is very, very excited
- 6:51about the repetitiveness the last couple years
- 6:53in the playoffs. Six straight years of a Florida
- 6:56-based team in the Stanley Cup final. Six fucking
- 7:01years! Can anybody be different? Anybody! The
- 7:06way I look at it is... Would I be excited as
- 7:09hell if the Penguins were in the Stanley Cup
- 7:11for six years in a row? Fuck yeah, I would. I'd
- 7:13be ecstatic as hell. I'd be thrilled. I mean,
- 7:17yeah, you might get sick of winning eventually.
- 7:20No, we wouldn't. That's fucking mine. But I'd
- 7:22like the Penguins to actually start winning some
- 7:23games. Hell, I'll even show for fucking Philadelphia
- 7:26to win one of these years. I'd like to see a
- 7:29Pittsburgh team win a fucking playoff game sometime
- 7:31soon, or a playoff series, whatever. Make it
- 7:34to the playoffs first, and then we'll actually
- 7:36be able to do something. When's the last time
- 7:38the city of Pittsburgh saw a playoff or a series
- 7:41win? Penguins was 18. Steelers was 17. Pirates
- 7:48was 20. 13. 13. Because that was actually when
- 7:53they were somewhat entertaining. When the Pirates
- 7:55had three straight 90 -win seasons, yeah. Those
- 7:58rosters, man. Oh, my God. I reminisce about that
- 8:02team all the time. I do too. I think Josh Harrison,
- 8:06just as of today or yesterday, has his retirement.
- 8:08Part of that team. I know Starling Marte is getting
- 8:11close. I think he's still playing for the Mets
- 8:13as we speak. But he's getting very close. Obviously
- 8:18McCutcheon is getting up there. Half the team
- 8:21is nothing. Retired since then too. But anyways,
- 8:25this is a hockey show. The state of Florida has
- 8:27really shown this league that, hey, we exist
- 8:31too. I mean, before that was 2014. Sorry, 2004
- 8:36when the Tampa Bay Lightning won their first,
- 8:38which I think Torres was the head coach of that
- 8:40team. John Torrell, that is. And then what was
- 8:46recently before that? I don't think the Florida
- 8:49team made it since then. I mean, the Panthers
- 8:53made it in. They got struck by Dallas in 96,
- 8:59I think. Not in the finals. In the finals. The
- 9:05only one Dallas has won was 99, and that's when
- 9:08they beat the Sabres. His foot was in the creed
- 9:11school. And then Dallas was in the finals in
- 9:17the bubble year. Because I know Tampa lost to
- 9:24Chicago. 96. I was right. But who did they play?
- 9:31They lost to the Avalanche in four. In the final?
- 9:33In the final. There's really? Yeah. 95 -96. They
- 9:37won in round one versus Boston 4 -1. Won in round
- 9:412 -4 -2 against Philly. Won in seven against
- 9:45the Penguins 4 -3. And lost. I don't know. They
- 9:48got swept. I did not know that. I thought the
- 9:50Panthers weren't around until like 2000. 94.
- 9:53That's their first season. 94 -95. Wow. I was
- 9:58going to say, I know they made it beforehand,
- 10:00Kyle. Don't fucking judge me, okay? I just didn't
- 10:02think that they, I thought that this was recently,
- 10:04you know, their most, you know, I thought this
- 10:06last three years was the only time that they've
- 10:08had playoff success. Yeah, what? Three years
- 10:14in a row, the Florida Panthers alone are in the
- 10:16Stanley Cup Final. Three previous to that, Tampa
- 10:19Bay Lightning. They're kind of doing a reversal.
- 10:21I wonder if the Panthers are going to go back
- 10:22-to -back after their loss compared to the Tampa
- 10:25Bay Lightning. lost in the finals after their
- 10:27back -to -back. So I wonder if they're going
- 10:29to do kind of reverse, be able to lose their
- 10:31first and then win the next two. But the way
- 10:34we've, I think Colin pointed this out, or I know,
- 10:36I'm sure a bunch of hockey shows have. Wayne
- 10:40Gretzky, his first attempt, he lost, went back
- 10:43the next year and won. Sidney Crosby, went in
- 10:472008, lost his first attempt, went back the next
- 10:49year, against the same team, and won. And now
- 10:52we have Connor McDavid. Went last year, lost
- 10:55in 7 -2 the same team that he's going to be playing
- 10:57this year. Does history repeat itself yet again?
- 11:00Does he take home his first cup here? I'm hoping.
- 11:04I'm just looking at that cup right above the
- 11:07jerseys there between the Panthers and the McDavid
- 11:10jersey there. Who's going to win it? It's going
- 11:16to be a good steer. I think it's going to be
- 11:19him. be local much different than what it is
- 11:23last year like where Florida came out swinging
- 11:26when it pretty like nearly sweeping And then
- 11:30it's an almost came back with that reverse sweep
- 11:32I think that game seven was only two to one I
- 11:34think they lost that one was a three to two or
- 11:36two to one something like that two to one Yeah,
- 11:40so will history repeat itself? Regardless, I
- 11:42think history is gonna repeat itself either The
- 11:45Florida Panthers beat the Edmonton Oilers in
- 11:47the Stanley Cup final as history itself there
- 11:49for a back -to -back Or, you know, debatably
- 11:53the best player of its generation winning his
- 11:59second attempt after losing the previous year.
- 12:02Regardless, I think we're going to see history
- 12:04repeat itself here. Oh, yeah. Going down to,
- 12:08might as well talk about it real quick, the Memorial
- 12:09Cup. Right now, the Memorial Cup final is being
- 12:13played. London currently beating Medicine Hat
- 12:173 -0 about midway through the second. After losing
- 12:21to Medicine Hat, I think, in what they're...
- 12:24Not the semifinal, but the final game of the
- 12:26round, Robin. Yeah. Which both teams were undefeated.
- 12:28Which Medicine Hat, beating London, locked up
- 12:30this spot in the final. And London beat... Was
- 12:33it Moncton? Moncton. In the semifinal, just Friday
- 12:36night? Kind of, I think that was a blowout. I
- 12:38think that was like a 6 -3. It was a 5 -1. It
- 12:41was kind of an ass -beating. I guess I saw...
- 12:45And then I saw some, like... With, um... Medicine
- 12:49Hat, this is the first time in a little over
- 12:53a decade that a WHL team has made it to the Memorial
- 12:58Cup Finals. Really? It's been either been dominated
- 13:02by the Q or the O, who's been going to the finals.
- 13:09So we had the two O's in the final last year.
- 13:11It's the host Saginaw beat London and then they
- 13:14cried about it. Oh my god, I so badly hope Medicine
- 13:17Hat comes back and wins this game. I mean, they're
- 13:21not going to happen. It's not going to happen,
- 13:22but... It's so easy and so fun. They're probably
- 13:27not listening. They've been trolling us on social
- 13:30media, like, oh, go talk about it on your little
- 13:33podcast. Guess what? You got your wish. Oh, you
- 13:38guys know how to do his talk show. These guys
- 13:39can back me up. From the beginning of this season,
- 13:42I was saying that London was going to repeat
- 13:43as champs. Oh, every time we lose, you're right
- 13:46there rubbing it in her face. Yes, but every
- 13:47time you win, I'm the first one there to congratulate
- 13:49you. I've been saying since the beginning of
- 13:51the year that you guys were going to repeat.
- 13:52A view's a fucking view, bud. A view's a fucking
- 13:56view. We'll take those views. We'll take those
- 13:58listens. Whether you stop or you clip this and
- 14:02you post, oh, you're talking shit on us. Cry
- 14:04about it. Yeah, like I said, Londonites, obviously.
- 14:10And the Memorial Cup Final for good reason again.
- 14:12It looks like they're probably going to win this
- 14:14game. We'll keep track of it momentarily while
- 14:18we throw out recording here. But yeah, Medicine
- 14:23Hat, what a season for them too. Winning their
- 14:26respective league and then getting over here
- 14:28to play the final. Beat London once. Goals coming
- 14:33from the shocking ones. Denver Berkey, Easton
- 14:36Cowan, and Jacob Julian. The last two coming
- 14:42within about a minute and a half in the second
- 14:44period. The shots are pretty close. I mean, Medicine
- 14:49Hat's giving them a run for their money. Shots
- 14:51are within one. Still about half the game to
- 14:54go. Soon we shall see. I wish there was a way
- 14:58we could watch it here in the U .S., but it's
- 15:00very difficult to watch these kind of games here
- 15:02in the U .S. I just more or less want to see
- 15:06how many London fans made that travel. Couldn't
- 15:10imagine that. It's probably nothing but London
- 15:11fans up there right now. Oh, yeah. Because I
- 15:16know there were a lot of them, at least in the
- 15:17round robin. There was a lot of them. Yeah. From
- 15:20the highlights I've seen. Every time they'd score
- 15:23at the building, you'd feel like it was a London
- 15:25home game at the Bud. Or not even called it anymore.
- 15:27I'm still going to call it the Bud. The Garden
- 15:29and that. But, yeah. Kind of interesting in that,
- 15:35like... I don't even remember where next year's
- 15:39is, Memorial Cup, honestly. I don't think they
- 15:42have. I think it goes to the, where is, Rimouski's
- 15:45in the Q, obviously, right? Yeah. So I think
- 15:47the W gets to host it next year. So I think the
- 15:50O. So it depends on. Because I know the O doesn't
- 15:52get to host again in 2027 or 2028. It should
- 15:56be 2027 because we did it last year. So this
- 15:58year is the Q, next year will be the W. And the
- 16:01next year I think should be us. Let's see if
- 16:05they. Did they not see it? Kelowna. That's right.
- 16:08I do remember seeing that. 2026 Memorial Cup
- 16:10will be hosted by the Kelowna Rockets. Okay.
- 16:13That's right. I do remember that. I know one
- 16:21thing I did see that kind of... Oh. I think we
- 16:24kind of... I think we kind of knew very middle
- 16:29of the season that it was kind of speculative
- 16:33for... The manufacturers for the entire CHL teams,
- 16:41they're now going to be officially under armor
- 16:43going forward. Like jerseys, some merchandising
- 16:49on select items. I think I saw Bauer giving the
- 16:56socks, and I think different companies are going
- 16:58to be the skates. Three different companies pretty
- 17:01much are going to be the uniforms of the teams
- 17:04in the CHL. Very confusing. I know jerseys are
- 17:07going to be under armor. I know they did reveal
- 17:10that. I know we kind of knew. We'd kind of known
- 17:15about it for a while, but it was just the contract
- 17:17with CCM. The entire CHO confirmed that it was
- 17:23going to be under armor this week. I just wish
- 17:27it was fucking consistent all the way through.
- 17:28Make it a solid uniform. You know, every team
- 17:31can make him look, design, or help design however
- 17:34the fuck they want to design it, whatever. And
- 17:36just make him nice and consistent and through.
- 17:39Just like the NHL does. Just like the AHL does.
- 17:42Just like every other league in the fucking world,
- 17:44minus the CHL. But, you know. Because it's so
- 17:47funny, like, how many manufacturers they've gone
- 17:50through. They've gone back for CCM, Nike, Reebok,
- 17:55CCM, Nike. It's a juggling act, is what it is.
- 18:02And I know another thing I saw, which I think
- 18:05was literally just yesterday, that the board
- 18:10denied that all goaltenders will be normal. They
- 18:18still have to decide if they're going to keep
- 18:21an OA goaltender. That sucks. I'm sorry. That
- 18:26could have been huge for Erie. Especially the
- 18:28season with Noah Erland in. Not only Erie, but
- 18:31I feel like all teams will be able to benefit
- 18:33off of that role. I think Owen Sound is one of
- 18:36them because I think Carter George is going into
- 18:37his OA season coming up here. Obviously it also
- 18:41depends on what LA decides to do with him. Whether
- 18:44they keep him up with Ontario Reign or actually
- 18:46call him up to NHL. Or if he actually signs an
- 18:49NCAA because I know he can. Yeah, they're in
- 18:52a lot of players. At the beginning of the season
- 18:56when they announced And now the whole deal, the
- 18:58whole crossover with MCW. I was going to be excited,
- 19:01but that was kind of like short -sighted. Like,
- 19:04oh, great, it benefits us. But, oh, no, it fucks
- 19:07us. It really fucked us. We've lost Malcolm Spence
- 19:10for this upcoming year. I know, Brandon, there's
- 19:13speculation that Jack Ivakovic is going to sign
- 19:17with somebody. There's rumors it might be Penn
- 19:20State. I'd love that for my boy. I'd love that
- 19:24for my boys in Penn State. That'd be huge. That'd
- 19:27be awesome. I'd be very excited for that. Because
- 19:29I know another one that's been rumored is Porter
- 19:32Martone instead of going into the draft. Maybe
- 19:36it was him. Maybe it was him instead. Maybe it
- 19:37was Martone might be going to Penn State, not
- 19:39Ivey Covey. One of those guys was rumored. This
- 19:43was about four hours ago. Not too long ago. June
- 19:491st, 319 Central Time. Jack Ivankovic has committed
- 19:55to the fucking University of Michigan. Want to
- 20:02play with Malcolm? Maybe I did see that. Maybe
- 20:05it was more tone. I'll take that back. My apologies.
- 20:07It was more tone than I did see. Still very solid
- 20:12for Penn State. Regardless, I'm getting a great
- 20:15player, yeah. Yeah, like now looking like I get
- 20:21it that's it's a lot of part there's gonna be
- 20:24a lot of oh not just the OHL but Cross Q and
- 20:30WHL their lot players are gonna if they don't
- 20:33end up playing the Respective leagues or get
- 20:35drafted. I want to go play in college At on Twitter
- 20:43at Sean for photo for far out sorry Two hours
- 20:46ago tweeted, today is the day that 19 different
- 20:48OHL cities become medicine, not tiger hat. Hat
- 20:51tiger fans. That's funny. Oh, it's 4 -0 now,
- 20:58so never mind. Easton Cowan again. Am I going
- 21:03to be shocked? Not at all. It's kind of funny.
- 21:07I've seen a lot of people compare them. Now I'm
- 21:11just waiting for Medicine Hat fans to complain
- 21:13about the referees and then the London fans be
- 21:14like, what do you mean? That was a completely
- 21:17failed game. It's funny that I've seen not just
- 21:22London players, but London fans. Go back and
- 21:25look at the comments from Game 1 of the NHL Finals
- 21:28that London lost to Oshawa compared to the next
- 21:31four. You'll see nothing but London fans complaining
- 21:34about the referees for Game 1. And then the next
- 21:38four, you'll see them attacking other fans for
- 21:40complaining about the referees in the next four.
- 21:43I think it's kind of funny with both the London
- 21:45and Maple Leafs fans. Like, a lot of them are
- 21:49saying, like, oh, Cohen's better than Marner
- 21:51and all. I mean, Cohen has had playoff success.
- 21:55Like, it's true. Oh, congrats in the OHL, where
- 21:59Marner's also had playoff success. Same team.
- 22:02Yeah, fair enough. Very true. Martin was the
- 22:06MVP during that 16 run. So it's always hard to
- 22:09say until Colin gets up to the show. I'm really
- 22:15wondering if he's going to be ready next year
- 22:19for the Leafs. Again, if he doesn't sign with
- 22:23somebody in the NCAA, man. Which, I think we
- 22:26ended last week on talking about the, or last
- 22:28episode, sorry, on talking about predicting the
- 22:30UFAs and where they're going to sign. We talked
- 22:31about Mitch Marner. We named like three or four
- 22:33different teams. Then literally right after we
- 22:35stopped recording, we had read something on Twitter.
- 22:38One that we all were like, whoa, that could be
- 22:40massive. Chicago. Marner to Chicago could be...
- 22:47With Bedard. With Bedard. You might have 200
- 22:53-point scores on that front line right there.
- 22:55That could be huge. It'd probably convince Bedard
- 22:58to kind of actually stay in Chicago. I mean,
- 23:02I want so much better for Conor Bedard. People
- 23:04think he's just a cocky little shit. I mean,
- 23:06he's 19. He's going to be frustrated with not
- 23:11finding any success yet, especially being the
- 23:14first overall pick in your respective draft.
- 23:16You want to naturally be... being known as, you
- 23:19want to be one of the first players that people
- 23:22look up to and talk about, but just being in
- 23:25that team, part of that system, he doesn't really
- 23:28have that right now. They've been a bomb barrel
- 23:31team for the last two years. And Chicago, again,
- 23:35they're picking what, third this year? Fourth?
- 23:38I think it's bottom five. Because they were,
- 23:41again, not a very good team this year. Third.
- 23:44Is it third? I think it's San Jose and then Chicago.
- 23:47Yeah. Yeah, because Utah is getting fourth. Islanders,
- 23:54San Jose, Chicago, Utah, and then Boston is fifth?
- 23:59I think they're fifth or sixth. That fall off,
- 24:03man, was just ridiculous. First five, one through
- 24:08five. Islanders, Sharks, Blackhawks, Mammoth,
- 24:11Preds. Then they rounded off the top ten. Flyers,
- 24:15Bruins, Krakens, Sabres, Ducks. And then the
- 24:21rest of the draft, it's through 28. So Pens,
- 24:25Rangers, Red Wings, Blue Jackets, Canucks, Canadians,
- 24:29which was the original Flames pick. Then the
- 24:33Canadians original pick. And then the Flames
- 24:36again from Devils. Blues, Jackets from Minnesota.
- 24:41Ottawa is the 21. Flyers from Avalanche. Preds
- 24:45from Tampa at 23. LA, Chicago, which was the
- 24:50Toronto's pick. Nashville, which was the Vegas
- 24:53pick from San Jose. Oh, the original Vegas pick
- 25:00that went to San Jose and then to Nashville.
- 25:04I was going to say, isn't it Pittsburgh's first
- 25:07round? Doesn't the Rangers have to determine
- 25:10if they're going to give Pittsburgh the first
- 25:13run this year or next year? I think it's next
- 25:17year. I think they had to give an official. I
- 25:22think this year we get one in the first, two
- 25:24in the second, three in the third this year.
- 25:26I think next year is one in the first, three
- 25:28in the second, two in the third next year. Possibly
- 25:31two in the first next year. Because I knew one
- 25:35of them. Pittsburgh's first round was determined
- 25:38by the Rangers if it was this year or next year.
- 25:40I think it's next year. Because I knew they had
- 25:45a certain deadline. The Penguins are now thinking,
- 25:46what, 13th this year? Or 11th? Which I know that's
- 25:51right around the spot Malcolm Spence is predicted
- 25:53to go. Yep. Or 11th? Okay. I think Malcolm Spence
- 25:58is predicted to go 14 to 16 at mid -teens range.
- 26:03I wouldn't hate us reaching for him there at
- 26:0511. If he's there, I would not hate us taking
- 26:07him. I was trying to go snag him. I'd say snag
- 26:09him. Call me biased. I don't give a shit. That's
- 26:12my middle name. I'd love... No, your middle name
- 26:16is Michelle. It's Kylie Michelle Tripp. I'd love
- 26:20to play. I'd love to see Malcolm play for the
- 26:22black and gold. Me too. I mean, what Penguins
- 26:25fan or what Erie fan wouldn't, you know? But,
- 26:30uh... Yeah, I mean, that's not all we got, but
- 26:34let's go through and recap what we've seen in
- 26:39round three of the playoffs. NHL playoffs, obviously,
- 26:42that is. Round three, we saw the Florida Panthers
- 26:44take on the Carolina Hurricanes, and Florida
- 26:47more or less wiped the floor with them for five
- 26:49games. Game four was the only one that Carolina
- 26:52really did much of anything. Freddie Anderson's
- 26:543 -0 shutout. But other than that... Game 1,
- 26:57a 5 -2 win in favor of Florida. Game 2, a 5 -0
- 27:00win in favor of Florida. Game 3, a 6 -2 win in
- 27:04favor of Florida. And then Florida finishing
- 27:07off in Raleigh in Game 5, 5 -3. See, I mean,
- 27:12there's not much to talk about in that series,
- 27:13again, other than Sam Bennett being a little
- 27:16bitch trying to take out Freddie Anderson. Apparently
- 27:18that's the only way Florida knows how to win
- 27:20games is when Sam Bennett goes and takes out
- 27:22the goaltender. I'll admit, I think I was a little
- 27:27more entertained on the Edmonton -Dallas series
- 27:32between the two series that happened. Those first
- 27:36two games, I don't think we were going to have
- 27:37ourselves a series, but then Dallas taking game
- 27:40one in Dallas 6 -3. Did you see that still shot
- 27:45or that video of Jordan Seidel and McDavid locking
- 27:49eyes after the game one loss? Yeah, yeah. They
- 27:52lost game one badly. That was a 6 -3 loss. All
- 27:54of a sudden, they just kind of looked at each
- 27:55other like annoyed, but like, time to lock the
- 27:57fuck in. And they have not lost a game since
- 27:59they changed that look. Winning game two, 3 -0.
- 28:03Game three, 6 -1. Game four, 4 -1. And then game
- 28:06five, 6 -3. I just wonder what was said in that
- 28:09locker room after that game one loss from either
- 28:12Connor or Leon. It's probably from Connor because
- 28:15he's, I know he's, he tends to be a little more...
- 28:18I can predict that it's something along the lines
- 28:21of DICK THE FUCK IN! RIGHT NOW! DICK THE FUCK
- 28:25IN! I can get something along the lines of that.
- 28:29Just a guess. I don't think it's happened before,
- 28:31but... So, earlier today when I was on my lunch
- 28:37break, I saw a YouTube short of Leon and all
- 28:41the bullshit he said during the media questions.
- 28:47They're so stupid, but Leon, it's just, the questions
- 28:50are so stupid, and Leon's answers are so iconic.
- 28:55And they think he's such a cocky jackass for
- 28:57it. Like, ask a fucking better question than
- 28:59that. His team just got fucked six to three,
- 29:02and then you're sitting there like, oh, what
- 29:03do you think went wrong tonight? He's like, what
- 29:06do you think went wrong? Like, we didn't play
- 29:09our game. I think it was Bo Nix earlier, and
- 29:13I think it was the game against the Steelers,
- 29:14like week two or three of the season. His rookie
- 29:17year, he threw a pick six, not a pick six, but
- 29:19he threw a pick in the end zone instead of a
- 29:21touchdown. He goes, what do you think happened
- 29:23on that throw? He goes, threw it to the other
- 29:24team. What do you expect his answer to be? Oh,
- 29:29you know, I tried to get it to my guy, but he
- 29:31just wasn't there. No, he goes, I stepped back,
- 29:34threw it to the other team. I don't know how
- 29:38some reporters get to keep their jobs. I know.
- 29:41Some of them are so damn stupid. Some of them
- 29:43are fucking 350 -pound land whales that just
- 29:46get to sit there and judge athletes for how they
- 29:48perform. Like, bro, you go out there and do any
- 29:50better. Or you will look like you weren't hustling
- 29:55there in the third period. Like, bro, you fucking
- 29:56put down the cheeseburger and you get out there
- 29:58and do it. How about that? As far as they're
- 30:01not chewing on their, like, swoop. What do you
- 30:04think went wrong there? Chewing on the cheeseburgers
- 30:06and hot dogs. Oh, God. I mean, respect to him,
- 30:11I couldn't be a reporter. I mean, I definitely
- 30:12don't think I could come up with, you know, good
- 30:16questions, but I can't go a little bit better
- 30:18than that. Like, just berating these guys for,
- 30:21you know, mistakes that they have made literally
- 30:24an hour, less than an hour ago. Like, oh, what
- 30:26do you think went wrong? He lost the game. That's
- 30:28what went wrong. Let's, uh... Let's go back into
- 30:34some old -fashioned doku or hurdle. One of the
- 30:36two. Probably both. We'll be kidding. We'll start
- 30:42with hurdle. Hurdle. Curly hair up top? That's
- 30:56not a bad guess to start. Ivan Barberchev? Well,
- 30:59we know that he's in the Pacific. He's... 30,
- 31:0331 years old -ish. So early 30s or 30s. He's
- 31:07not Russian. He's not a center. And his number's
- 31:1045 or below. Let's pull that up again. Ooh, is
- 31:21that like a Matty Benier? No, he's not that old.
- 31:23Never mind. I'd say he's too young still. Is
- 31:30that like a... It's like a Jordan Eberle, isn't
- 31:33it? No. So he's American. Eberle, I think, is
- 31:42Canadian. Yeah, Eberle's Canadian. Obviously,
- 31:46he's not a goaltender, so... I think Eberle might
- 31:49be a little bit older than 30, 31, too. So he's
- 31:52either a defenseman or a winger. And then, numbers
- 31:5531 or below... I'm just trying to guess a random
- 31:59defenseman on... A Western team? Or a Pacific
- 32:03team? Let's go for like a... Like an Evan Bouchard.
- 32:14I think he's Canadian, isn't he? But at least
- 32:18we can narrow it down between winger and... That's
- 32:21a winger. He is Canadian. His number is somewhere
- 32:33from about 6 to 30. That's his journey number.
- 32:40And I'm in Vegas, Vancouver, or Edmonton. Seattle,
- 32:46Wigners. Again, I don't know much about Seattle.
- 32:51I wish I did, but I don't. L .A., could that
- 33:05be like a Kevin Fiala? Has he been over in L
- 33:11.A. still? I think he is. Oh, it is L .A. Let's
- 33:19go. L .A., he's a left winger. He's a check.
- 33:26It's a very normal name. I'm not expecting him
- 33:28to be great. It's not like a Kopitar, is it?
- 33:36No, because he's... Kopitar's the center. He's
- 33:39also, like, Slovenian. Slovakian. I think Slovenian.
- 33:42Whatever. Either way, it doesn't fit the American.
- 33:45And Presley's too old. Gotcha. Too old and centerman.
- 33:50How about, like, um... A Philip Deneau? Is he
- 33:57still there? Let's find out. He is still there.
- 34:04Okay. Can you bring up the... So 30 or 31 years
- 34:11of age. I'm trying to think. Okay. Oh, no. I
- 34:13think Mikey Anderson's too young. I'm pretty
- 34:20sure Mikey Anderson's too young. It's a guess.
- 34:24I also think he might be a defenseman, but...
- 34:28Romy, do you have anything to add? It's not Mikey
- 34:32Anderson. Romeo, do you have anything? No? Because
- 34:35he didn't know what we were talking about. L
- 34:42.A. Wingers. He's a left winger, specifically.
- 34:48I know it's not Byfield. I know that. Arbertson's
- 34:51not American, though, right? No. I'm trying to
- 34:56think of guys that would have went over there.
- 34:58I know Fogle was over there. I just can't remember.
- 35:02I don't think his age is going to be... I mean,
- 35:06he was an overage of the year, but he won the
- 35:08cup in the year, right? He was in 2021? That
- 35:12was eight years ago? So I put him at 29 right
- 35:14now? So yeah, it can't be him. That's not a bad
- 35:19guess. Because that's what was throwing me, was
- 35:24the age for him. I knew he was LA. You guys can
- 35:33hear the panting. Yes, we do have a visitor here
- 35:35today. Should be one week and one week only.
- 35:45It's not like... Kim Atkinson played for what,
- 35:48Tampa this year, didn't he? Yeah, he never...
- 35:51JVR, I think, is still over in Boston. Yeah,
- 35:54both of me and Reem strikes are East Coast, so...
- 36:07They just added somebody like this last offseason.
- 36:15Oh, is it? No, PLD's in Washington. Who went
- 36:22over to LA in the PLD trade? I don't know. I
- 36:28don't know the LA team, but that's the thing.
- 36:30Oh, man. Who went over there in the PLD trade?
- 36:33I feel like it's that guy. Adrian Kempe? Adrian
- 36:42Kempe? Maybe? No, Kempe was there before PLD
- 36:48was there. That's the thing. Still, it could
- 36:51be Adrian Kempe. No, my God. He's Swedish, too.
- 37:00I did not know that. Okay, so his jersey number
- 37:03is 10 -11 -12? Uh, Kopitar's 11. So it's either
- 37:1210 or 12. Maybe even as high as 13. I can't remember
- 37:16what the handicap is on the jersey number. I
- 37:20think it's within like 3 or 4. So yeah, it's
- 37:24either 10, 10, 12, 13. I want to say Arvidsson
- 37:36is 10. I think Arvidsson's like 36 or something.
- 37:4033. Something like that. 30s. He's on 30s. So
- 37:45he's not going to matter. Who is it? No, we already
- 37:49said Mikey Anderson. It's not Brendan Lemieux
- 37:50because he went over to Philly, didn't he? Good
- 37:54spot for him. Who the hell wears number 10 over
- 38:00there? I feel like I can see you. Josh Archibald's
- 38:10in... No, Philly, right? Archibald. I have no
- 38:14idea where he is now. If this was about nine
- 38:19years ago, you could say Marty Furk. Oh, what
- 38:22the furk? No, Charlie Brown didn't play hockey.
- 38:40Come on, Trebek. I mean, he didn't even kick
- 38:45football. Well, the dumb bitch kept moving. He's
- 38:48probably one of the rookies or something. That's
- 38:51our last guess at it. Quinn Byfield. I mean,
- 38:59that's the best guess I have, but his age is
- 39:02also way too young. Way too young. numbers way
- 39:06too high. Who were the three? Because I know
- 39:12LA broke a record for the first time having an
- 39:15all -black line. They were called the Black Aces.
- 39:18It was Quentin Byfield. Who were the other two,
- 39:21though? Neither do I. Trevor Moore. Okay. Yep.
- 39:49I don't think I would have gotten that. Nope.
- 39:51Not at all. Alright, let's redeem ourselves with
- 39:53some Puck Doku. Oh! So going across from the
- 39:59columns, it's got Columbus, Edmonton, Minnesota.
- 40:03And for the Rose, it's Florida, Philly, and the
- 40:09SHL. Which I believe is the Swedish league? Yeah.
- 40:14Maybe just try to get some Swedes for Minnesota
- 40:17Edmonton. And the first Swede that comes to mind
- 40:21for Minnesota is Zuccarello. Yeah. That's the
- 40:24first Swede that comes to mind for there. But
- 40:26did he play in the SHL? I thought he came right
- 40:29over to... Right over to the show. Where from?
- 40:39Did he come over from the Swedish league? I'm
- 40:42not sure. I'm sorry. I'm trying to keep up with
- 40:49the Memorial Cup. No, you're good. I can get
- 40:55us a score update here. 4 -0 still. End of the
- 41:01second period. Two from Markey. The SHL is what's
- 41:08going to... Yeah, so let's try to get the rest
- 41:11of the board cleared out here. So, Bobrovsky
- 41:14for Florida Columbus. Cam Mack. Well, the Bob
- 41:21can do Florida Philly. That's just a Cam Atkinson
- 41:27for Philly Columbus. For Philly Columbus. Okay,
- 41:30so... Yager can't fit anywhere. He's played for
- 41:42Florida and Philly. Florida and Edmonton. Corey
- 41:54Perry didn't play for Philly, did he? No. Eric
- 42:01Stalk do Minnesota -Florida. Yeah. Well, he can
- 42:08do Minnesota -Philly too, right? Not only Mark.
- 42:12Mark played for Philly. But Mark didn't play
- 42:16for Minnesota, so we can't use him. Cam Talbot
- 42:29-Philly. Philly -Edmonton. Or Philly -Minnesota.
- 42:33So we can put him in the back pocket for the
- 42:36Philly row. depending on what we do for the other
- 42:38one. Yeah. Okay. For some reason, Florida Edmonton,
- 42:46like, Ole Jokinen is popping in my head, because
- 42:48I know he was kind of a journeyman, bounced around
- 42:51a couple different places. Cody Cece. Has he
- 42:57played in Florida? I know he hasn't played for
- 43:00Philly, but has he played for Florida? I'm not
- 43:02confident enough to put it. All right. Let's
- 43:08see, there's OEL, who's done Arizona, Vancouver,
- 43:12Florida, Toronto. Alex Tuck has done Minnesota,
- 43:24Vegas, Buffalo. I'm just trying to think of players
- 43:31that are current that have been, you know, kind
- 43:33of bounced around between teams here. Neil Yakupov,
- 43:37did he spend some time in Philly before he called
- 43:40it a career? He didn't have much of a career.
- 43:45That's only a downfall. He didn't make much of
- 43:48an impact. Which one do we think will be harder
- 43:53to get? Edmonton or Philly, Minnesota? That's
- 44:09the thing. Mike Smith. Did he play for Philly?
- 44:16For some reason, he just came to mind. Calgary,
- 44:21Edmonton, Arizona are the three I know for sure.
- 44:35Joel Eriksson has only been... Minnesota, right?
- 44:39I'm pretty sure. I should have a manager here
- 44:47because he knows a lot about Swedish hockey.
- 44:50A lot about Swedish hockey. Obviously he's Swedish,
- 44:57but that's besides the point. What is Jesse Poyarvi's
- 44:59nationality? Is he Swedish? Well, he's played
- 45:04for Edmonton, Pittsburgh. Where is he now? Who
- 45:07picked him up? I have no idea. Oh, boy. Keith
- 45:19Vandell? Where's he been? Philly, Florida. I
- 45:26think that's it. Yager can't go anywhere. Can't
- 45:35go anywhere outside of Philly. Marcus Foligno
- 45:38has been Minnesota. Is that it? Yeah, because
- 45:42Nick has been Columbus, Boston, Toronto, Chicago.
- 45:48In that order. Did Josh Archibald play for Philly?
- 46:03Oh, um... Mike Rupp, did he end up playing for
- 46:07Philly? That's why I've been trying. I think
- 46:10he did. Because he did Minnesota. I just can't
- 46:14remember. I think he did play for Philly. So
- 46:16I'll take the blame if it's not. I think for
- 46:19some reason he was coming up too. I just couldn't
- 46:22remember if he played for Philly. He did not.
- 46:25I know he's played for most of the Metro. All
- 46:31right, well, let's do... Because I think we are
- 46:34struggling to get Philly, Minnesota. So let's
- 46:38put Cam Talbot there. And we'll figure out for
- 46:42Philly, Edmonton. Okay. Taylor Hall has only
- 46:52done Edmonton, Buffalo, Jersey, Arizona, Boston,
- 46:59and now Carolina. Say only then. We just listed
- 47:04off six teams. Well, it could be like Alex Kochenyuk
- 47:10paid for or been on, what, 14 teams? Yeah. What
- 47:16about like a Mason Marchment? Where is he? Florida,
- 47:20Dallas. Florida, Dallas. Is that it? Yeah. I'm
- 47:24trying to think of my former otters here. Former
- 47:28otters or former penguins. I only have three
- 47:31NHL. NHL -worthy jerseys up, and that's David,
- 47:35Crosby, and DeForey. Did Mark Reckie ever play
- 47:37for Edmonton? I don't think so. I think he mostly
- 47:43stayed out east in the Eastern Conference. James
- 47:53Neal. I don't think he played for Philly. I think
- 47:59he played for Florida. Did he play for Philly?
- 48:04In the last two or three years of his career,
- 48:06he jumped around a whole bunch. I know he didn't
- 48:09play for Philly. After he left Edmonton, I know
- 48:16he jumped around. I think even after he left
- 48:17Nashville, he jumped around. I know he played
- 48:23for Vegas for a little bit. The Blues, Edmonton.
- 48:29Now he jumped around a couple different guys.
- 48:33Jeff Carter's only been Philly, Columbus, LA,
- 48:37Pittsburgh. Josh Archibald isn't a bad guess
- 48:45for Philly and Minton. We're struggling anyway.
- 48:48I doubt we're going to finish off the Swedish
- 48:49line anyway. No, okay. I have three shots up
- 48:55anyway. Go for Zuccarello on SHL Minnesota. Oh,
- 49:09okay. I knew he was Swedish, I knew that. I know,
- 49:13because Lundqvist is too, and I know they were
- 49:15like best friends. They were buddy -buddy. That's
- 49:17like something they shared, and they were literally
- 49:19brothers. I legit want to, seriously want to
- 49:29text my manager, hey, what Swedish players are
- 49:32on Columbus that have played for the schedule?
- 49:34Kind of thing. Oh, um... Why are you so mad?
- 49:44It's only game. Rizgolov? Rizgolov. I know he
- 49:47played Philly. I know he played Florida. Did
- 49:50he play Edmonton? Fine. We got another guesses,
- 49:54so I say let's go for it. I just drew a bank
- 50:00on his name again. Ilya. Ilya Rizgolov. Fuck
- 50:06it. Oh! What a fucking snipe. That's fucking...
- 50:11Go, baby. What a fucking shot. All right, let's
- 50:16try to get that top, that panther. Oh, man. I
- 50:22feel like I know that one. Yeah, I feel like
- 50:24this might have been the easiest one so far,
- 50:26and we're going to miss it. Evander Kane, no.
- 50:32Corey Perry, we said no. Yager, no. I don't think
- 50:42Yari Curry would have played long enough to have
- 50:44the Panthers in the league yet. Messier, obviously,
- 50:49like a no. My best guess is like an Ole Okunin.
- 50:57But I don't think he played for Edmonton, but
- 50:59it's a guess. O -L -L -I. There you go. No, Edmonton,
- 51:09okay. All right, we got six. So, Ryan Whitney.
- 51:13UC Yokanen. UC Yokanen. God damn it. Jesse Pooley
- 51:18-Arvey is now in Florida. Dukestad. Derek Sard,
- 51:22Ray Whitney. Alan Montoya. Martin Gelinas. Sergei
- 51:26Samsonov. Just to name a few. Damn. Matias Anacom.
- 51:35Swedish, okay, I didn't know that. Victor Arvidsson,
- 51:37somebody we said earlier. Linus Olmark. Larson.
- 51:41Oscar Kleffbaum. Matias Janmark. Double S is
- 51:44Swedish, yeah. And Alex Wenberg. William fucking
- 51:50Carlson, man. Emil Bemstrom. You know, funny
- 51:53enough, I even have Emil's fucking signature
- 51:57right here. Look at that. Look at that. Maybe
- 52:00that was a sign. No pun intended. Maybe that
- 52:03was a sign. Jesus Christ. Let's go over three.
- 52:08Let's try the pyramid. Might as well. Fucking
- 52:12bird. Here. No. No, no, no, no. No, no. Oh, fuck
- 52:16that. No. Oh, no. What did I do? What did I do?
- 52:23No, no. We didn't see that. No, we didn't see
- 52:24that. No, no, no. Supposed to be a junior and
- 52:29there was fucking 12 squares. 16. 16. 16. So
- 52:32any goalie that has ever had a 90 % save percentage
- 52:36in his career. Well, the top one will save for
- 52:41Patrick Watt. Yeah, for sure. So let's go like
- 52:45Tristan Jari. I don't think he's been that bad.
- 52:53He'll be below 90%. Yeah, okay. 100 wins. Let's
- 53:02do like a 100 run quiz or something. No, save
- 53:05for the 50 playoff game wins. And let's do Fleury.
- 53:15Um, Carey Price. Does he have 50 plus payoffs
- 53:20for our games? I mean, yeah, because he was on
- 53:23the bubble team, wasn't he? Yeah, but... I mean,
- 53:27they made the playoffs enough. They may have
- 53:30never made deep runs. I feel like he has to have
- 53:32deep runs. I almost typed Montreal for that.
- 53:39Yep, okay, so now... Let's use a lifeline here.
- 53:44Yep, get lifeline. We know the last one. Let's
- 53:46do 50 -50. Plug it. It's gotta be Jose Theodore.
- 53:51Yeah, okay. And then Patrick Waugh. Easy. There,
- 53:57we kind of redeemed ourselves. Imagine an X.
- 54:01There you go. Patrick Waugh. 0 -3, right? Yep.
- 54:04Yeah, alright. We redeemed ourselves. Yeah. That
- 54:07was easy, alright. We wouldn't want to attempt
- 54:10that, Junior. Fuck it. Let's see if we can get
- 54:13something here. All right, so across the top
- 54:14we have the four teams in the Memorial Cup final.
- 54:17Not the final, but the Memorial Cup. London Knights,
- 54:19Rimouski, Medicine Hat, and what's the fourth
- 54:22one? Moncton and then Medicine Hat. And then
- 54:25down to the sides for the Groves, we have 50
- 54:27goals in their NHL career, 100 games played in
- 54:29their NHL career, they played in the AHL, and
- 54:32where's the Stanley Cup winner? London Stanley
- 54:34Cup winner, Corey Perry? Yep. I was going to
- 54:37do Matthew Kuchuk, but Corey Perry... Yeah, Kuchuk
- 54:39works too. Well, we can do Kuchuk anywhere, minus...
- 54:44Oh, we can do anyone anywhere, pretty much, for
- 54:47London. So we'll do... Corey Perry for that one.
- 54:55And we'll do... For the AHL, we can do Conor
- 55:02McMichael for AHL London. Yeah. Mitchell Larner,
- 55:13and then Connor McMichael. Ramuski, 50 goals.
- 55:21Has Alexey Laferney hit 50 goals yet? I feel
- 55:23like he had to. He has to. No. That's Sid, right?
- 55:33Let me stand for winner, Ramuski, for Sid. Yeah.
- 55:36No, that's what I have up there. Oh, okay, yes,
- 55:38yes, yes, that's it. So 50 goals. Rimouski has
- 55:42to be like Alexei Lafrenier. I feel like he has
- 55:45to have 50 goals at least by now. Alright, I'm
- 55:49done. I can't tell you anybody that's played
- 55:54for Moncton or Medicine Hat. Those are the only
- 56:00two I honestly don't know. I feel like we need
- 56:05one more for Rimouski. Who is some of Sid's teammates
- 56:07in that team? You're barking up the wrong tree,
- 56:15Eric. Yeah, I got nothing. Ready? I'm gonna just
- 56:23pop open this sparkling water. All right. I swear
- 56:34to God, if one of them actually fucking hits,
- 56:37I'm gonna shit myself. Okay, we did nothing for
- 56:44100 games. Liam O 'Brien. Big Tuna. Ben McCabe.
- 56:53Brad Marshawn played for Moncton. Good to know.
- 56:56Oh, this is Rimouski still. Well, yeah, Marshawn
- 56:59right there for Moncton. Oh, oh, oh. Cory Crawford,
- 57:03Ivan Barbershop, Johnny Oduya, David Savard.
- 57:08Oh, a couple names out there. There's fucking
- 57:12J. Boatmeister. Tyler Ennis. J. Boatmeister,
- 57:16Darren Helm, Chris Osgood, Rob Niedermeyer, Laney
- 57:21McDonald. Tyler Ennis, Jason Chimera. Brian McCabe.
- 57:27Craig fucking Berube, man. Yeah, I wouldn't have
- 57:32known any of this shit. Yeah, absolutely. Not
- 57:38horrible, but... Yeah, I'm sorry. Absolutely
- 57:47the fuck not. The last little mini... Here's
- 57:54one thing Colin sent. Chris Noblock joins Toe
- 57:58Blake, Tommy Ivan, Scotty Bowman, Jimmy Skinner,
- 58:01Mike Sullivan, and Punch Imlock as the only coaches
- 58:05to ever make the Stanley Cup Final in their first
- 58:07two seasons as a head coach. So hell yeah, Chris.
- 58:11How do I do, Chris? Hell yeah, Borger. What else?
- 58:20The Alex Ovechkin retirement scare that apparently
- 58:24was rumored around, but saying he's going to
- 58:26be doing at least one more year after that is
- 58:29unknown? Yeah, they definitely got you when he
- 58:32was retiring. No, ESPN just sent out an article.
- 58:49Corey Perry, after this playoffs, he has now
- 58:52the most playoff games played from active players
- 58:56with 227. More than every single franchise since
- 59:00the year 2000. And now Yarmir Yager has had a
- 59:04teammate play in the Stanley Cup Final for 45
- 59:08consecutive years, dating all the way back to
- 59:111980 with Brian Trashier. 2022 is kind of a write
- 59:17-in because him and Andre Pavard kind of played
- 59:19together in the Olympics. So that one's kind
- 59:23of a write -in. The last thing we want to discuss
- 59:28here, a couple of us have discussed this before,
- 59:32me and Colin did. The only answer we haven't
- 59:33heard yet is Jeffy's answer to this one. Bardown
- 59:36sent out this tweet or this thing on their social
- 59:39medias that said you have $15 to create a super
- 59:42team. where you get your normal lineup of one
- 59:46center, two wingers, and two defensemen. For
- 59:48$5 going across from center to two defensemen,
- 59:52you've got Conor McDavid, Nikita Kucherov, David
- 59:54Pasternak, Calum Carter, and Quinn Hughes. $4,
- 59:58you've got Nathan McKinnon, Kaprizov, Mikko Rantanen,
- 1:00:02Zach Borensky, and Evan Bouchard. Then $3, you've
- 1:00:05got Leon Dreisaitl, Mitch Marner, Matt Kachuk,
- 1:00:08Victor Hedman, Adam Fox. $2, you got Austin Matthews,
- 1:00:11Kyle Conner, Alex Ovechkin, Rasmus Dahlin, and
- 1:00:14Josh Morrissey. $1, you got Sid the Kid, or Sid
- 1:00:18the Middle -Aged Man, Clayton Keller, Willie
- 1:00:20Nylander, Jakob Slavin, and Lane Hudson. My original
- 1:00:26build was Cal McCarr, McKinnon, Hedman, Kyle
- 1:00:31Conner, and Clayton Keller. And then mine changed
- 1:00:36up because apparently I didn't do math there
- 1:00:38at the time. is Sadakuchi Ovi. Then I have Wierenski
- 1:00:45and Fox. Originally, I had McCart, but he would
- 1:00:49have put me over, so I'll do the Wierenski. Looking
- 1:00:55at this now, going back at it, I mean, I think
- 1:01:00Matthews at $2 is a steal. But again, if you
- 1:01:04want playoff performers, you've got to go with
- 1:01:06somebody like McKinnon, who actually knows how
- 1:01:07to show up. No matter what time it is. That's
- 1:01:10why I took McKinnon. I was going to say, Sid
- 1:01:12has done it all. Sid has done it all. He's up
- 1:01:15there. If I'm going to NHL 25 and I'm doing a
- 1:01:19one -year sim, I'm probably taking Sid. But if
- 1:01:22we're saying, hey, this is going to be my lineup
- 1:01:24for the next couple years, I'm going to go with
- 1:01:26Nick McKinnon. I'm sorry. Taking Sidney Crosby
- 1:01:30for a dollar. It's a fucking steal. It's more
- 1:01:34than that. It's a steal and a half. I'm sorry.
- 1:01:36I don't care if Sid is 26 or 36. He's been performing
- 1:01:42the same, barring injuries and everything, he's
- 1:01:45been performing the same since... Who did you
- 1:01:47say you said? Sid, Cooch, Ovi, Wierenski? Wierenski
- 1:01:50and Fox. Wierenski's a good offensive defenseman.
- 1:01:54He's obviously not the number one. I mean, he's
- 1:01:57been competing for the top three all season.
- 1:02:01Like, this season was really a breakout year
- 1:02:03on a pretty mid -Columbus team. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:02:07for me, regardless, if I take McKinnon, then
- 1:02:09obviously I would take Keller, but if I take
- 1:02:10Crosby, then I'm going to go up and take Capriza
- 1:02:12instead of Keller. So it's interchangeable for
- 1:02:15those two, but I don't think you can change my
- 1:02:17mind on the last three being Hedman, Conner,
- 1:02:23and Keller. Yeah, I was kind of... Or sorry,
- 1:02:26Makar. Makar, I'm taking Makar any day of the
- 1:02:28week. I mean, he's the best defenseman in the
- 1:02:29league, and he's going to be that for quite some
- 1:02:31time. I was going to say, my forward core is
- 1:02:33pretty locked. It's my defense. I can kind of
- 1:02:35bump around. I can do the Fox -Renske duo. I
- 1:02:40can do the Dahlian -Quinn -Hughes duo. I can
- 1:02:43do the Saban -Quinn -Hughes duo. It all can change.
- 1:02:47I can even bump down to where it's the Makar
- 1:02:49-Morrissey duo. For me, I can kind of interchange
- 1:02:54that defensive pairings notes to whatever. When
- 1:02:58you really look and you're like, oh, I can get
- 1:03:00Sid for a dollar. Yeah, but you're going to say,
- 1:03:01oh, McKinnon's there. It's tough to come up with
- 1:03:05a discreet answer. For my centers, I was going
- 1:03:10always back and forth between Sid and Crosby.
- 1:03:13I was going back and forth between Sid and McKinnon.
- 1:03:17Obviously, it's just more dependent on my leaners.
- 1:03:21I think my original team, I did. I was making
- 1:03:24a second one because I wasn't sure who I was
- 1:03:26going to officially go with. I pretty much have
- 1:03:30the same. I have four that are the same. Three
- 1:03:32that are definitely the same. But like I said,
- 1:03:34if I'm going for just like a one -year sim on
- 1:03:37NHL 25, I'm taking Sid over McKinnon. But if
- 1:03:40I'm going for like, I want this to be my lineup
- 1:03:42for the next upcoming couple years, then I'm
- 1:03:45going to go with McKinnon. Because I feel like
- 1:03:46you're definitely going to get more years out
- 1:03:48of McKinnon for the next few than you will Crosby.
- 1:03:50Because I think what my lineup I initially did,
- 1:03:54just because I was going back and forth, I did
- 1:03:57Sid, Ovi, Kucherov, and then Darlene and Makar
- 1:04:03for my defensemen. I guess my biggest thing is
- 1:04:08when we're creating a super team, we're obviously
- 1:04:10assuming, number one, the set players are in
- 1:04:14their prime, and number two, injuries aren't
- 1:04:17a thing. Injuries are turned off in this game.
- 1:04:20That's kind of where I was looking at. That's
- 1:04:24kind of where my approach was. Game 7, what lineup
- 1:04:32are you setting out there? You're 5 -5. In game
- 1:04:397, you're double overtime. Which five skaters
- 1:04:45are you entrusting? to get that game -winning
- 1:04:47goal, that club clinching goal. If that's the
- 1:04:51case, I'm saying that's where I say Sid Keller.
- 1:04:54Sorry, that's Sid Keller. I lost my train of
- 1:05:02thought. I forgot. I want to see where I went
- 1:05:04after that. Where the hell did I go? Sid, maybe
- 1:05:12Kyle Conner, Rantanen, maybe. And then Makar
- 1:05:16and Morrissey. He was actually my, was going
- 1:05:21to be my third choice for a defenseman if I didn't
- 1:05:24end up going with, Darlene was Morrissey. But
- 1:05:29yeah, it was, it really more than, the wingers
- 1:05:32were like where I was kind of going back and
- 1:05:35forth on. Like it was going to determine what
- 1:05:37my list was, but I ended up going with that first
- 1:05:41one. All right, well, do we have anything else?
- 1:05:49Just scrolling through our chats here to see
- 1:05:52if there is anything. Oh, the official 2026 Olympic
- 1:05:56groups are for the men's hockey tournament is
- 1:06:01officially announced. In group A, we have Team
- 1:06:05Canada, Czechia, Switzerland, and newly appointed
- 1:06:09France taking over the whole. Team Russia thing,
- 1:06:13which that's something I kind of want to ask
- 1:06:15you guys here in a second. In Group B, we have
- 1:06:18Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, Italy. Team Italy,
- 1:06:24I am so fucking sorry. You got three very tough
- 1:06:27teams in Finland, Sweden, and Slovakia. If you
- 1:06:31can even squeeze a point out of any of those
- 1:06:34teams, I call that a win. I'm not saying you're
- 1:06:37a bad team. Okay, I kind of have to say you're
- 1:06:41a bad team because I don't know any true good
- 1:06:44Italian players in the league right now. And
- 1:06:48then Group C, United States, Germany, Latvia,
- 1:06:53and Denmark. Which I don't want to shit talk
- 1:06:55Latvia or Denmark because obviously Denmark upset
- 1:06:58Team Canada this past year. Latvia upset Canada
- 1:07:01in the juniors last year, wasn't it? Yeah. So
- 1:07:04I don't want to knock those two teams. At all.
- 1:07:09They're going to be tough competition. It's going
- 1:07:11to be close games. I think, personally, the United
- 1:07:13States is going to be the clear -cut number one.
- 1:07:15Germany, just right there. Knocking on their
- 1:07:18back door. That's the thing, something we didn't
- 1:07:20mention. USA finally won their first double IHF
- 1:07:24World Championship for the first time in, what,
- 1:07:2595 years? 92. 92, something like that. And I
- 1:07:28posted about that on Twitter, and I had some
- 1:07:30clown... at reply me and was like, oh, it took
- 1:07:33you 92 years to win a dry -ass tournament. I
- 1:07:36said, you lost to Denmark, shut up. And he didn't
- 1:07:38say when after that. So, how do we feel about
- 1:07:42Russia not being able to compete? I'm still...
- 1:07:45And not seeing, for the last time, Ovi and Vasily.
- 1:07:49I mean, I don't think that's my place to say.
- 1:07:51Well, not being able to see players like Ovechkin
- 1:07:54and Volkin and Vasilevsky and Kucherov. all on
- 1:07:57the same team, all these big Russian stars. We
- 1:08:00see it on a day -to -day basis in the NHL, not
- 1:08:04being able to compete together for a girl, Golda.
- 1:08:07Like, I get why they're doing it, but it just
- 1:08:11sucks for these players. I think it stinks because,
- 1:08:15like what Colin said, we don't get to see it.
- 1:08:19What do you think would be a one -two punch?
- 1:08:21for goaltenders, like, Sterkin and Vassie. Yeah.
- 1:08:25Like, who's ever hotter in the moment? You can
- 1:08:29even have, like, a third backup as, like, an
- 1:08:31Ilya Sorokin can be, like, a third, like, a backup.
- 1:08:34So, there's this person that I've kind of, you
- 1:08:37know, befriended on Twitter who, ironically,
- 1:08:39is a London Knights fan. And I saw somewhere
- 1:08:43out there that she posted about... Is that her
- 1:08:44name, Olivia, right? Yeah, exactly. I thought,
- 1:08:46I... Shout out to Olivia. You're probably not
- 1:08:50listening to my shout out to Olivia. Yeah, like,
- 1:08:52you're one of the very few Naughty Night fans
- 1:08:54I actually respect. But that's besides the point.
- 1:08:56I saw that, you know, there's a Russian woman,
- 1:09:00like a woman Russian figure skater that's going
- 1:09:03in independent. You know, just on her own. She's
- 1:09:07not representing Russia. She's not representing
- 1:09:09anybody. She's just going in, competing for herself.
- 1:09:13Which I think is good for her. The Olympics?
- 1:09:15Yeah. Oh, that's pretty cool. They improved her
- 1:09:18because it's a solo thing. It's not a team thing,
- 1:09:20which, I mean, good for her for being able to
- 1:09:23do it, but my thing is make it consistent. If
- 1:09:29no Russian athletes can compete, no Russian athletes
- 1:09:32can compete. It's not my place to get into politics
- 1:09:37and everything going on over there between them
- 1:09:39and whatever is going on on that side of the
- 1:09:42world. That is far out of my business to discuss
- 1:09:44that side of it. Not being able to see these
- 1:09:46players, all these big players that you're playing
- 1:09:50right now. Imagine a first line of Ovi, Malkin,
- 1:09:53and Kucherov. You got the shot in Ovi. You got
- 1:09:59the handles in Kuch. And he got Malkin. Just
- 1:10:04don't piss him off. To this day, man, if you
- 1:10:08piss him off, his speed increases 50%, 100%.
- 1:10:12Oh, no. You piss him off? I feel like Ovi is
- 1:10:15the Malkin whisperer. He knows. They have him
- 1:10:19speak in the foreign tongue, but he's the Ovi
- 1:10:21whisperer. You know about their beef they had
- 1:10:24way back then. Yeah. When they were both young,
- 1:10:27up and coming. I think Malkin's agent threw something
- 1:10:30at Ovi or something or vice versa. They got into
- 1:10:33it and that caused them to have this whole turmoil.
- 1:10:36Then I think he's at the one all -star game they
- 1:10:37helped each other out with a funny shootout goal
- 1:10:42or something to show the world, hey, we don't
- 1:10:44hate each other. It was Malkin helping Ovi. He
- 1:10:48gave him a Hawaiian wreath to wear while he took
- 1:10:51his shot or something along those lines. He gave
- 1:10:53him a jersey to put on. I don't remember exactly
- 1:10:55what it was. Yeah, it was pretty much like this
- 1:10:59thing to show the whole world, hey, we don't
- 1:11:01actually hate each other, which behind the scenes
- 1:11:03they probably still kind of did. But this is
- 1:11:06more or less to get the spotlight off of them,
- 1:11:08like, hey, we don't hate each other, actually.
- 1:11:12But, yeah. Yeah, that's not really the only,
- 1:11:15like, outside of, like, the political world.
- 1:11:18But I think it's just unfortunate we don't get
- 1:11:21to see, once again, like... The big Russian stars
- 1:11:26of the NHL get to play in that. Just to name
- 1:11:30a couple other ones. Artemi Panarin, Vladimir
- 1:11:33Tarasenko. Why did I say it like that? Tarasenko.
- 1:11:36Don't try that again. Pavel Buchnevich, Andrei
- 1:11:38Svechnikov, Evgeny Dadunov, Dmitry Orlov, Mikhail
- 1:11:42Sergachev. You can have him reuniting with Kucherov
- 1:11:44over there. Kirill Marchenko, Andrei Kuzmenko.
- 1:11:50Dmitry Voronkov, Alexander Romanov. Yeah, some
- 1:11:54of the up -and -coming younger guys, like Pavel
- 1:11:56Minchikov. Anyone that has the last name ending
- 1:11:59with Av, pretty much. The Russian connection
- 1:12:02back, the Detroit Red Wings, the Russian Five,
- 1:12:05or, you know, the Russian connection with...
- 1:12:06Here you go, here you go. Off of YouTube. Bucket
- 1:12:12hats. Bucket hats and shades. Glasses, wipe them
- 1:12:16off, give them some Gatorade. That's a weird
- 1:12:21scene. I'll be with the A and not the C. And
- 1:12:25two sticks. Malkin's stick and Ovi's stick. He
- 1:12:28tosses one of them. He tosses the right -handed
- 1:12:33stick and shoots with his off -hand. That Russian
- 1:12:39team could be absolutely filthy. Just one last
- 1:12:43thing. I think we talked about this briefly,
- 1:12:45but I want to get your guys' full, in -depth
- 1:12:48opinions on this. The two mock trades that I
- 1:12:50saw. involving the Toronto Maple Leafs and the
- 1:12:53Pittsburgh Penguins. One of them being, to the
- 1:12:56Toronto Maple Leafs, Eric Carlson with us retaining
- 1:12:5950 % of his contract. Oh, yeah. And coming to
- 1:13:02Pittsburgh, Morgan Riley, David Kampf, and a
- 1:13:05second -round pick. Again, it's just the contract
- 1:13:09that we're getting. Like, Morgan Riley's contract.
- 1:13:14That's the thing that... Yeah. No, like, if we're
- 1:13:19retaining... Half of Carlson's contract. That's
- 1:13:22heftier. So either give up all of Carlson's contract,
- 1:13:27or at least retain maybe 25%, but also get another
- 1:13:31draft pick in return for that. Yeah, that was
- 1:13:36my only issue with that one. It's mainly the...
- 1:13:40How much they're retaining on Carlson. This is
- 1:13:43the one that I really did like. To Toronto, yeah.
- 1:13:45Ricard Raquel, Noel Achari, Vasily Potomrov in
- 1:13:48a second -round pick. Coming to Pittsburgh, Matthew
- 1:13:50Nyes, Nick Robertson in a fourth -round pick.
- 1:13:54That one I like. Nope. No? Nope. I like him.
- 1:13:58I would honestly replace Raquel with Russ. With
- 1:14:02Brian Rust? Nope. Still no? Hey, let's trade
- 1:14:07to Roca. Oh, wait. Hey, why not mark his pet?
- 1:14:11Oh, wait. Hey, how about John Murray? Oh, wait.
- 1:14:19Who'd be getting back in that Pedersen card?
- 1:14:22Wasn't it Luke Shen came over in that deal, I
- 1:14:25think? No. No, Luke Shen was from Nashville.
- 1:14:30Yeah, we immediately sent him over to Winnipeg,
- 1:14:32yeah. And then Pedersen went to Vancouver. I
- 1:14:35know, but Pedersen, who came over from that?
- 1:14:37I don't remember. Pedersen and Conrad trade.
- 1:14:43something to waste your guys' time for two more
- 1:14:47minutes here. Oh, sorry, we got back Heinen and
- 1:14:53Desjardins, who was the other one we ended up
- 1:14:55sending back out. I think he played four games
- 1:14:58for us, so Penguins Legend, Vinny Desjardins.
- 1:15:02But yeah, I think that just about does it. Just
- 1:15:04a heads up to you guys, I think next episode
- 1:15:06is going to be the Season 5 finale. That's insane.
- 1:15:12Season 5 finale. Absolutely insane. Five seasons
- 1:15:17into it already. Five seasons in the books. It
- 1:15:22feels like we just started the season here. We're
- 1:15:24about to wrap season 5 up already. Be on the
- 1:15:29lookout for that. We're not quite sure. It all
- 1:15:30depends on how these Stanley Cup finals go. If
- 1:15:32we end up recording the night of the 15th or
- 1:15:35if we push it back one more week to the night
- 1:15:37of the 22nd. So we might have two weeks up here.
- 1:15:40We might have one week up here. We might have
- 1:15:42two weeks up here. TBA, TBD. Three weeks until
- 1:15:47you guys get the finale might be two weeks. So
- 1:15:48again, it all depends. If somehow these Stanley
- 1:15:51Cup finals end in five games, which how good
- 1:15:53these two teams are, I don't think it's going
- 1:15:54to be five games. I didn't think either one of
- 1:15:58the conference finals were going to be five games,
- 1:15:59and they both ended up ending in five. But yeah,
- 1:16:03we will find out. We will hopefully, regardless,
- 1:16:05we will see you guys one more time before the
- 1:16:07end of the month and to end off the season. And
- 1:16:09maybe at some point, again, middle of the offseason,
- 1:16:13we'll do a quick free agency recap, which we've
- 1:16:16done, I think, once or twice in these first couple
- 1:16:18seasons here. But no promises on that. But we'll
- 1:16:20have more information for you on that come the
- 1:16:23final episode here in the next couple weeks.
- 1:16:25But thank you guys for an awesome season. Again,
- 1:16:27we'll give you more of an sincere one at the
- 1:16:29end of the next episode. But we'll see you guys
- 1:16:32then. Until then, keep it real. See ya. Bye.
