- 2:00Speaker 1: charity green Leaf Saturn Le. Please welcome the Mighty Megan Conversation.
- 2:06Speaker 1: De Joy Winding, are you okay, So it's beautiful. I'm
- 2:14Speaker 1: happy you took time. We know it's winding down. Augusty
- 2:17Speaker 1: Level is the final day of green Leaf. Before we
- 2:21Speaker 1: even get there, just talk about this whole experience, and
- 2:24Speaker 1: I also want to talk about that. As you say that,
- 2:26Speaker 1: I want to go back to your single, I won't
- 2:28Speaker 1: start breathing because I got to talk about that. It
- 2:30Speaker 1: drops on the thirty first. I played it five times
- 2:33Speaker 1: this morning. I get up at four o'clock, so I
- 2:35Speaker 1: have a little time to just listen to great music.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So and we're gonna talk about that, but just talk
- 2:39Speaker 1: about the whole green Leaf experience and your character arc
- 2:42Speaker 1: over that over this period. Yes, wow, thank you. Green
- 2:48Speaker 1: Leaf has been a dream, you know, something that you
- 2:54Speaker 1: feel like maybe comes once in a lifetime. The way
- 2:57Speaker 1: that it happened, I knew it was God. Um. You know.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Oprah saw me during a workshop in New York and
- 3:05Speaker 1: remembered me from that and called I didn't have an agent.
- 3:10Speaker 1: She said, I'll send your stuff to whoever I need
- 3:12Speaker 1: to send it to. I believe that you need to
- 3:14Speaker 1: audition for this role. I I seen you in this
- 3:18Speaker 1: and you know it's okay that nobody knows who you
- 3:20Speaker 1: are right now, I've seen you and I just thought, okay, God.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It never in a million years that I okay God,
- 3:28Speaker 1: but Oprah you know. But but you know, God uses
- 3:35Speaker 1: whoever he decides, and the fact that he used her
- 3:39Speaker 1: is just mind blowing to me. And so Greenlee was
- 3:43Speaker 1: a dream, a joy. It was. It didn't come in
- 3:48Speaker 1: the correct order, if you will, what Hollywood things, how
- 3:52Speaker 1: you get the roles. You gotta do this first and
- 3:54Speaker 1: then you gotta do this. And so it's been an
- 3:57Speaker 1: all around incredible experience. I have worked with Keith David
- 4:03Speaker 1: and Lynn Whitfield and Oprah Winfrey and Lamon Rutger, just
- 4:08Speaker 1: an all star castle so much from the beginning, and
- 4:14Speaker 1: Um my character who everybody just is. You know, they
- 4:19Speaker 1: they love to hate her and they hate to love her. Um,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but I think that she's real. And she saw her
- 4:25Speaker 1: grow up like you saw her Um learned from her mistakes.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You saw become a woman. You saw her Um fall
- 4:35Speaker 1: down and keep getting back up and being strong and
- 4:39Speaker 1: being strong strong. She is a fighter and she will
- 4:44Speaker 1: not allow anyone, not her parents, that her siblings, no
- 4:49Speaker 1: one to hold her hostice to her past mistakes. You know,
- 4:52Speaker 1: this is really amazing. You know, Laman, I know very well.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I've had him on the show Land. I've had on
- 4:58Speaker 1: the show she Enjoedy Keith, which just recently on the
- 5:00Speaker 1: show and the show premiered, And but your character has
- 5:03Speaker 1: been a compelling character for me. That character were talking
- 5:06Speaker 1: about this as charity because she's falling down and then
- 5:10Speaker 1: this then it looks like she's a trader. Then it
- 5:13Speaker 1: looks like she doesn't understand emotionally, she looked like she's
- 5:16Speaker 1: about to find love, and then then she's then it's
- 5:19Speaker 1: then that's traded off into a bad situation. And so
- 5:23Speaker 1: but you stood your ground with your character, and I
- 5:25Speaker 1: just love the way you're being brought back into the family,
- 5:30Speaker 1: the family, and I like the way the season is
- 5:32Speaker 1: allowed to say that everybody has flaws and that's what
- 5:36Speaker 1: life feels about. And so you can't point a finger
- 5:38Speaker 1: like the other thing to say. If you point a finger,
- 5:40Speaker 1: somebody remember another part of that hand is pointing back
- 5:42Speaker 1: at you. And I look at that character, I go, wow,
- 5:48Speaker 1: So now this is this season here, But it has
- 5:50Speaker 1: been special because of the fact that you know, we
- 5:53Speaker 1: thought you was about to meet the man of your
- 5:55Speaker 1: dreams and he left your charity. He left for the
- 6:00Speaker 1: skinny white lady. Whoa oh my god, oh my god.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You and you're playing well on to chair every time
- 6:12Speaker 1: you look at it. Every time you look at it,
- 6:13Speaker 1: look like to see you got enough meat on her bones?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Every time you look at it. Man, can you go,
- 6:20Speaker 1: can you look at the last night without watching you
- 6:22Speaker 1: when you walked in that office and you go, you
- 6:25Speaker 1: need to talk to your dad. You need to talk
- 6:28Speaker 1: to your father yourself. Yeah, But you know the thing
- 6:33Speaker 1: about it is you when when I look at your character,
- 6:36Speaker 1: what surprised you the most? When you Okay, you got
- 6:39Speaker 1: the opportunity to play this role, all right, you you
- 6:42Speaker 1: were a newbie. You didn't have the resumes that everybody
- 6:44Speaker 1: else had when you walked up to the set. How
- 6:47Speaker 1: did you really start feeling comfortable about yourself in the
- 6:50Speaker 1: process of developing this character and accepting the responsibilities of
- 6:54Speaker 1: being this character Charity? Well, this is what I will say, Um,
- 7:00Speaker 1: when you do do your work and uh, and you're
- 7:04Speaker 1: in Hollywood and you continuously get a lot of nose,
- 7:08Speaker 1: stay consistent in doing your work because when you do
- 7:11Speaker 1: get that, yes, the work will be there to to
- 7:15Speaker 1: allow you to stand, Paul, and so I got comfortable. Uh,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I went there and send my comfortable because I know
- 7:24Speaker 1: my gifts, I know what I can do. I know
- 7:26Speaker 1: the training that I've gone through, I know the hours
- 7:29Speaker 1: that I've put in. But when we did the first
- 7:32Speaker 1: day of shooting Season one, we did that table then,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and that was my first time with Keith, that was
- 7:38Speaker 1: my first time with everybody, and Oprah was there, and
- 7:42Speaker 1: uh we did my close up. I was the second
- 7:45Speaker 1: person to get a close up and my fourth take,
- 7:49Speaker 1: I nailed that thing. And when they called cut, Oprah
- 7:52Speaker 1: came over to me crying and she said, that's it.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That was it, that was it, and she said I'm done.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And when I knew that, she didn't regret, not for
- 8:02Speaker 1: a moment, the decision she made to champion me, even
- 8:05Speaker 1: when people said I didn't have it. I was like, Okay,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I'm good. Now let's get in here and let's work,
- 8:12Speaker 1: let's grow, let's learn. I'm There's no way I'm not
- 8:14Speaker 1: gonna grow when I'm sitting next to someone like Keith
- 8:17Speaker 1: David and Lynn with Field. But at that point I
- 8:19Speaker 1: was ready to not just do my work, but to
- 8:22Speaker 1: learn and to keep growing um. That's that's when I
- 8:26Speaker 1: got comfortable and then learning all of the sides of charity.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Charity is so multifact of it, and she's so many things,
- 8:34Speaker 1: and she's she's a single mom, she's been through so
- 8:38Speaker 1: much and she's just real. She's really real and relatable.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Were very relatable, and I want to talk about because
- 8:45Speaker 1: we're gonna get back to this because I'm not through
- 8:46Speaker 1: with anybody listening. I'm not through a greedly. But when
- 8:50Speaker 1: you have a last name named Winy's okay, you just
- 8:53Speaker 1: remember that's w I n a n okay. That is
- 8:58Speaker 1: a legacy of music because I know BB and I
- 9:01Speaker 1: know CC the show, and so you gotta be able
- 9:06Speaker 1: to sing even you can't say. You gotta make up
- 9:08Speaker 1: some notes like you can sing, find an instrument, some drums.
- 9:11Speaker 1: So something got the music related when you got wine
- 9:14Speaker 1: last night. You have this beautiful song. You know the
- 9:17Speaker 1: video dropped in June because I was watching it last night,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and the single drops Friday, July thirty. First. It's called
- 9:23Speaker 1: I Won't Stop Breathing, and it's dedicated to the victims
- 9:26Speaker 1: of racial violence, including George Floyd, Brianna Taylor, Trayvon Martin
- 9:30Speaker 1: um on Aubrey. I'm down in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm very
- 9:33Speaker 1: familiar with armand Aubrey situations on the news on the
- 9:36Speaker 1: data base, Brother Taylor out of Louisville, h Treyvon Martin
- 9:40Speaker 1: out of Florida. And of course George floyd death, unfortunate death,
- 9:44Speaker 1: has inspired all these incredible changes that we're about. But
- 9:47Speaker 1: I won't stop breathing at the I just want to
- 9:49Speaker 1: quote something at the very front, so James Baldwin quote
- 9:53Speaker 1: that you have at the very front of the video.
- 9:55Speaker 1: To be a Negro in this country and to be
- 9:58Speaker 1: relatively conscious is to be enraged almost all the time.
- 10:03Speaker 1: That's an amazing statement because as a black man, uh
- 10:07Speaker 1: because because I remember when the when the when the
- 10:09Speaker 1: riots broke out, that a lot of white friends called
- 10:11Speaker 1: me asking me how how was I Was I all right?
- 10:16Speaker 1: And I explained to him that how you see as
- 10:19Speaker 1: me all the time? That let me. I'm happy, but
- 10:22Speaker 1: but I am not happy when the policeman stops me
- 10:25Speaker 1: because I'm concerned. That's why he's stopping me, because I
- 10:27Speaker 1: don't know what's gonna happen at that stop. And that's
- 10:30Speaker 1: what that line is said. That black people are constantly
- 10:34Speaker 1: in a rage and we have to we've learned to
- 10:37Speaker 1: deal with that, and that's not fair because it affects
- 10:40Speaker 1: your health. And what was your thought process? I know
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm sharing my thoughts, but an amazing quote by James
- 10:46Speaker 1: Ball wanted to lead off your video, and you close
- 10:49Speaker 1: it with the amazing president of Barack Obama speaking talk
- 10:52Speaker 1: about that whole sequence of putting this together. Then we
- 10:54Speaker 1: talked through the to the through the lines of the
- 10:57Speaker 1: of the song. Because I'm a lyricist and I love
- 10:59Speaker 1: listening to great music. Talk to us. Um, yes, I
- 11:08Speaker 1: won't stop breathing. It's you know, we went through a
- 11:12Speaker 1: a hard time and I recognized that the pandemic of
- 11:15Speaker 1: the coronavirus is still going on. But really all that
- 11:19Speaker 1: did to me and I just God makes no mistakes.
- 11:22Speaker 1: This whole world got shut down and everybody had to
- 11:26Speaker 1: watch what was really happening to black people around this country,
- 11:31Speaker 1: and nobody could turn a blind I nobody could say, well,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I didn't get a chance to see that I was
- 11:39Speaker 1: doing this. I was traveling where I was no everybody
- 11:42Speaker 1: but was in the house. They couldn't go nowhere, and
- 11:45Speaker 1: they were forced to see the tragedy and the plight
- 11:49Speaker 1: of the black lights. And um, for me, it awakened
- 11:54Speaker 1: me to a whole new level because someone was murdered
- 11:59Speaker 1: in broad daylight and this man just did not care
- 12:02Speaker 1: and and and it hurt me so deeply. And and
- 12:07Speaker 1: I am a woman of faith. I love the Lord.
- 12:10Speaker 1: This was the first time in my life where I said, Jesus,
- 12:14Speaker 1: where are you. I can't I can't feel you right now.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It just hurt and so um. After a couple of
- 12:22Speaker 1: weeks of just just in my feeling, you know, when
- 12:26Speaker 1: you're at that place of you ain't got nothing good
- 12:28Speaker 1: to say that, don't say nothing at all. I didn't
- 12:30Speaker 1: have anything good sec and um, and then one day
- 12:34Speaker 1: I got into the shower and it just hit me.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I said, oh my god. I grabbed my husband. I said,
- 12:41Speaker 1: that's the song that I just said a demo for.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Because I decided, if I'm going to do music, it
- 12:45Speaker 1: needs to be something I love. It needs to be
- 12:47Speaker 1: something that I can relate to, that that feels consider
- 12:50Speaker 1: to me or else it won't feel some suder to
- 12:52Speaker 1: anybody else listening. I don't want to do things just
- 12:54Speaker 1: to do it. And so I had already decided I
- 12:57Speaker 1: want to do this song. I just didn't know, you know,
- 12:59Speaker 1: where would be placed or what it was before. And
- 13:02Speaker 1: I said that demos that I just did the song
- 13:04Speaker 1: that my brother wrote. That's for right now, that's right now.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I have this idea. I want to do this visual. Um,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I want this, this and this. I said, we need
- 13:11Speaker 1: to honor our people are people that are dying every
- 13:14Speaker 1: day for no reason. And my husband took everything I said.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I called a bunch of my friends. I was like,
- 13:21Speaker 1: I just need you to make a video and hope
- 13:22Speaker 1: sign and they were like, what do what I say? Dude?
- 13:25Speaker 1: I say please please? They held it up for you
- 13:29Speaker 1: to look. They did. I love them dearly and I
- 13:33Speaker 1: some of your cash members came through too for yours, Well,
- 13:36Speaker 1: yes they did. That's my family and um. And so
- 13:39Speaker 1: I told my husband what I wanted to put it
- 13:41Speaker 1: together and he was like, well, do you want to
- 13:43Speaker 1: go and like we record the song, like you know,
- 13:45Speaker 1: in a better way. I said no, I don't care
- 13:48Speaker 1: about my voice. Like, this is what it is. It's
- 13:50Speaker 1: about this visual. It's about this moment. It's about these
- 13:53Speaker 1: people recognizing, um that there is hope for me. This
- 13:58Speaker 1: song allows you to have heartbreak. It allows you to
- 14:01Speaker 1: feel the way you feel. It's okay that you are angry,
- 14:04Speaker 1: but it also lets you know in your anger you
- 14:08Speaker 1: cannot let go, you cannot stop breathing just because somebody
- 14:11Speaker 1: else doesn't think that you're worthy or you're worthy thing
- 14:14Speaker 1: you are and and and to me, the ultimate letting
- 14:18Speaker 1: them win is to stop breathing. And so we won't
- 14:22Speaker 1: stop breathing. We don't care what you think. And I
- 14:25Speaker 1: was like, that's the light. That's the thing that I
- 14:27Speaker 1: think people need to see. The people that went out
- 14:30Speaker 1: and started protesting right away, those front liners, we are
- 14:34Speaker 1: all with you and together if we will not stop.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And that was my that was my heart. That's been
- 14:42Speaker 1: my hope. And then you know, the we put the
- 14:46Speaker 1: visual out and then people were like, okay, we get
- 14:48Speaker 1: the song, is it? Oh? You want you want? I
- 14:56Speaker 1: was just emotionally charged, you know, I was. I was
- 14:59Speaker 1: just just you know, shower and it just hit me
- 15:02Speaker 1: and I told people, don't hold up a sun. And
- 15:06Speaker 1: I watched the video five times this morning and I go, okay,
- 15:10Speaker 1: this is because you know, because things I gotta say.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It's finally here. The season of celebration, and no matter
- 15:18Speaker 1: how you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing

- 17:09Speaker 1: T E R dot ai. You're a beautiful woman. Thank you,
- 17:14Speaker 1: and you have a brilliant smile and so indeed, but
- 17:18Speaker 1: that that's not what's important. In this video. You didn't
- 17:22Speaker 1: care about makeup, you didn't care, you were just you.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I saw a raw, uh emotional person and I wanted
- 17:30Speaker 1: to ask you because that's important question, because you have
- 17:33Speaker 1: a gift to be able to sing, but when the
- 17:35Speaker 1: emotion can kind of interfew with that process. How did
- 17:39Speaker 1: you hold it together? Debor and singing his great song?
- 17:43Speaker 1: I won't stop breathing? Oh I barely did I U.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I was crying because we shot, we the stuff of me,
- 17:51Speaker 1: We shot right in our homes, and I just I
- 17:54Speaker 1: kept telling my husband like, well, I can't. I need
- 17:57Speaker 1: a second because thinking about it makes me angry. Thinking
- 18:01Speaker 1: about it hurts my heart. Thinking about it is like,
- 18:04Speaker 1: oh God, why are there so many names? And so
- 18:08Speaker 1: I didn't hold it together. I broke down several times
- 18:12Speaker 1: and um, but that's that's where we are. And I
- 18:15Speaker 1: know that that's okay. So there was no holding anything
- 18:19Speaker 1: to get we don't you know, like this is an
- 18:22Speaker 1: idea and you know you you you sent around and
- 18:25Speaker 1: you said, hold up this sign, I won't stop breathing,
- 18:28Speaker 1: and then send me the video. How did they feel
- 18:31Speaker 1: when they when the videos started coming into you? How
- 18:34Speaker 1: how did that feel to you when you saw Oh
- 18:36Speaker 1: my gosh, it blessed my heart to know that I
- 18:40Speaker 1: had people that really are my friends, really are there
- 18:43Speaker 1: for me whatever you need, um, And it was just
- 18:48Speaker 1: a sign that we are all together. In this, and
- 18:50Speaker 1: we're all gonna fight this as best we know how.
- 18:53Speaker 1: We're all gonna offer whatever we have to offer. And
- 18:57Speaker 1: that's what I tell people. It doesn't matter if you
- 19:00Speaker 1: are like, well, I'm not a protesting, that's okay. Well
- 19:03Speaker 1: I can't really donate, that's okay. But there's something you
- 19:06Speaker 1: can do with your time to serve the movement, to
- 19:09Speaker 1: serve the cause, to push the needle forward. There is
- 19:12Speaker 1: something you can do. If you got breast in your body,
- 19:14Speaker 1: there's something you can do. So find your something. You know,
- 19:18Speaker 1: when you say that statement about Roshawn, you said, Richard looked.
- 19:21Speaker 1: It was just the right time. You know, the pandemic
- 19:23Speaker 1: got people that just sit down, watch TV and then
- 19:27Speaker 1: create conversation. That's what the lockdown did for us when
- 19:29Speaker 1: we saw this George Floyd's situation. Because you see how
- 19:33Speaker 1: white people are reacting to this. You know, Black people,
- 19:35Speaker 1: we've been angry. We were born angry, Okay, we've been mad.
- 19:39Speaker 1: We've been dealing with a stomach racism blade racism of
- 19:43Speaker 1: all types since based on our color, the color of
- 19:45Speaker 1: our skids. Always tell peop when I walking around, weren't black, man,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm black? You you you can be white and you
- 19:51Speaker 1: can be different things. And you know, so that's understood.
- 19:54Speaker 1: What is your thoughts when you see that? To me,
- 19:56Speaker 1: I'm so happy because I know that they're they're they're
- 19:59Speaker 1: put anticipating. I'm happy they're angry because of the fact
- 20:02Speaker 1: that there can be no change unless they see there's
- 20:05Speaker 1: a need for change. Absolutely, there can be no change
- 20:10Speaker 1: unless they see the need. Um. But don't if the
- 20:14Speaker 1: gloves are off. I'm not going to baby you. I'm not.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I don't have white friends calling me talking about what
- 20:21Speaker 1: can I do? Go do some research. Stop talking to
- 20:24Speaker 1: me about talking. I'm done trying to hold your hands
- 20:27Speaker 1: through this. No, you need to hold my hand and
- 20:30Speaker 1: having my back. You go do the work and you
- 20:33Speaker 1: figure out a way that you can help, and you
- 20:35Speaker 1: can lend that that privilege that you have been born
- 20:39Speaker 1: with to the cause they figure out a way. That's
- 20:43Speaker 1: Mr Trum Michigan talking right there, Mr Trump talker, right there. Girl,
- 20:47Speaker 1: Come on, there's nothing wrong with that. And that's why
- 20:51Speaker 1: you know and and and and he's seeing this. You know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I brought you on the show to talk about green Leaf,
- 20:57Speaker 1: and then they told me about this video and this
- 20:59Speaker 1: song that was dry up in this Friday July through
- 21:01Speaker 1: the first I'm gonna tell you to tell you people
- 21:03Speaker 1: to send me banners. So I got almost a million
- 21:05Speaker 1: social media followers that have fan clubs and all this
- 21:08Speaker 1: NAT present of my followers are female, and so I
- 21:11Speaker 1: want to drop it on Friday. He's dropping on Friday.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I wish Sean mcdonne wants to drop in on his
- 21:15Speaker 1: social media on Friday two. That's that's my blessing. That's
- 21:18Speaker 1: the blessing of this relationship, in this brand that I
- 21:20Speaker 1: have because I'm doing this for free, because you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: God has given me a gift and Elaine. Now, Elaine
- 21:26Speaker 1: to talk to people the way I want to talk
- 21:28Speaker 1: and ensure them that I am there for you. Now,
- 21:31Speaker 1: with that being said, you close the video with a
- 21:34Speaker 1: message from former President Barack Obama. Tell us about that. Well,
- 21:40Speaker 1: I think that's the light. I think that that is um.
- 21:44Speaker 1: You know, once we get past that sort of hurting
- 21:47Speaker 1: place and that rage, um, we we end on the
- 21:52Speaker 1: fact that we recognize that there is evil in this world,
- 21:57Speaker 1: but we can overcome that we can. And he represents
- 22:03Speaker 1: so much to us, not only his his wisdom, but
- 22:08Speaker 1: the fact that he was our first slex president. The
- 22:11Speaker 1: fact that he's been the fact that he's done that,
- 22:14Speaker 1: the fact that people like John Lewis were ave gotten
- 22:18Speaker 1: so they were able to see that comes to fruition
- 22:22Speaker 1: that we we've come away. We've got a ways to go.
- 22:26Speaker 1: But my God, we had President Barack Obama, and to me,
- 22:30Speaker 1: he represents hope. Girl. I invited the right come on,
- 22:38Speaker 1: please please because you know, because because that whold John
- 22:42Speaker 1: Lewis thing, you know, it's it's it's when I see
- 22:46Speaker 1: years old, when he was seventeen years old, he met
- 22:48Speaker 1: Rosa Parks, when he was eighteen years old, he met
- 22:52Speaker 1: Dr mart Luther King, twenty years old, he had the
- 22:54Speaker 1: courage to walk over a bridge he's not a big
- 22:56Speaker 1: man now and walk into that. I don't know emotionally
- 23:01Speaker 1: how fast my heart would have been beaten. I don't
- 23:04Speaker 1: know if I'd been that that and that close to
- 23:06Speaker 1: the front, Okay, But to see that moment and to
- 23:10Speaker 1: see him get to walk along in d C and
- 23:14Speaker 1: that black lives matter, all that they've created, it's a
- 23:18Speaker 1: testament that God allowed him to see that experience that
- 23:22Speaker 1: be a part of that because he he was at
- 23:24Speaker 1: the last stage, because he was really for Ail. You
- 23:27Speaker 1: can see physically he had lost a lot of weight,
- 23:29Speaker 1: but he made that trip like he made all those
- 23:31Speaker 1: trips for us. And now your song is another song
- 23:36Speaker 1: is making a trip. It's part of the bigger perspective.
- 23:38Speaker 1: We don't have individual leaders, but Debora, you are a leader.
- 23:42Speaker 1: You are a person who has woke up one day
- 23:45Speaker 1: and say, look, it's not about fame. It's about how
- 23:47Speaker 1: I feel. And social media allows me to be able
- 23:50Speaker 1: to communicate my voice in a positive manner and remind
- 23:54Speaker 1: people it's not about you being my fan. It's about
- 23:56Speaker 1: we can all make a difference. And this song about
- 23:58Speaker 1: it's about you. I don't want you to make that difference.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And I want to say thank you for that part.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Thank you on that part. Now let's get back to
- 24:05Speaker 1: Green Leave before we wrap up here, because it's two
- 24:07Speaker 1: episodes left. I would say a little little little assessment
- 24:10Speaker 1: of me about Green Leap, strong female characters. And I'm
- 24:14Speaker 1: talking to Pastor because she wants to be a pastor.
- 24:17Speaker 1: You know it, go now, Pastor Charity Green That's what
- 24:20Speaker 1: she wants to be. Not everybody need to know that
- 24:22Speaker 1: she is fighting to be seen for who she is
- 24:25Speaker 1: despite anyone else's thought or feeling is about her. That
- 24:29Speaker 1: who that I felt that character is. And then you
- 24:32Speaker 1: have other dynamic characters who play a different role like
- 24:36Speaker 1: Rochelle and Tyra about the house. And so when I
- 24:40Speaker 1: look at it, because when I had land on the show,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I said, you know, rarely do you see shows like this,
- 24:44Speaker 1: whether we have male characters, but this show is really
- 24:47Speaker 1: about females and their perspective and their role that they
- 24:51Speaker 1: play in the dominance that they have in our world today.
- 24:56Speaker 1: And that that really that really drove home to me
- 24:58Speaker 1: the journey did your care because you know, you have to,
- 25:01Speaker 1: like I had to pull your spirit up and be
- 25:04Speaker 1: able to deal with, you know, the male female relationships.
- 25:08Speaker 1: There's the sister brother relationship, but also the relationship and
- 25:12Speaker 1: have this character becoming what it is today because I
- 25:14Speaker 1: love the character I've always I always enjoyed because it's real.
- 25:17Speaker 1: But also I have mistakes in my life and so
- 25:20Speaker 1: and I have to deal with it. And so you
- 25:22Speaker 1: had to deal with it in a famous family we
- 25:24Speaker 1: talked about the show now, because you you deal with
- 25:26Speaker 1: in the real life too, because in your name and
- 25:29Speaker 1: so so that's why when I when I see that
- 25:31Speaker 1: open looked at you. She You know, this was a
- 25:34Speaker 1: very relatable story from the standpoint of you know, it's gospel. Okay,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you're famous. Okay, we're gonna have you over the choir.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You can sing. So so this character has been brilliantly
- 25:46Speaker 1: designed for you. It's not the it's not you know
- 25:48Speaker 1: you say. It's a wonderful blessing and opportunity your life.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Believe me when I say this to you, that God
- 25:53Speaker 1: has some great things that are gonna happen to you
- 25:55Speaker 1: because you are atalitied girl. You atality you. Thank you.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I appreciate that I received it, and you should receive
- 26:03Speaker 1: this as well. That moment last night when all three
- 26:06Speaker 1: of you guys would like laughing, I'm talking about grace
- 26:09Speaker 1: of g if you want to call it that, Jacob
- 26:12Speaker 1: and y'all, that was that was unique to me because
- 26:16Speaker 1: I think for me in the series, that was the
- 26:19Speaker 1: that was the journey that you all came to realize
- 26:22Speaker 1: that mom is flawed, so we can relax. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 26:29Speaker 1: And that's when we were able to really see each
- 26:32Speaker 1: other for who we are through the beauty in our flaws,
- 26:35Speaker 1: see the beauty in our differences, and and be good
- 26:38Speaker 1: with it, be okay with it because lady because Lady
- 26:41Speaker 1: May was all over poled Jacob poel Jacobs, Well, he
- 26:44Speaker 1: just thought she was she was a female Jesus, the
- 26:47Speaker 1: way he was talking to her. He just said, I
- 26:49Speaker 1: can't understand you. You pull up at the car, what's
- 26:51Speaker 1: going on? What's going on about? And she make that
- 26:56Speaker 1: statement and stuff like that. So and now we have
- 26:58Speaker 1: a different we have a we have two episodes left.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I'm not asking you real anything. Rashwan knows the show, okay,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I know. I know Sophia. You know she didn't put
- 27:07Speaker 1: the little the little pictures out there online. How the
- 27:09Speaker 1: mama know about that? I know about the little board,
- 27:11Speaker 1: the little son. You know, he got HIV. He's dealing
- 27:15Speaker 1: with that. Looked like his spirits are coming up because
- 27:17Speaker 1: he's getting g t O car designed with you know,
- 27:20Speaker 1: with the bishop, and they may lose the house and
- 27:23Speaker 1: all these good stuff. We find out that Bob is
- 27:25Speaker 1: a rip off audience, been ripping off black people for
- 27:28Speaker 1: years with predatory lending. And then Zara, she wants to
- 27:31Speaker 1: leave New York because of possible divorce between mom and dad.
- 27:35Speaker 1: And then where do where do you fall? In all
- 27:38Speaker 1: of this, my dear, as we go to the Finches
- 27:41Speaker 1: line Augusty level. By the way, Fernando is a thu.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Fernando's a thug, A total for sure. The finish line,
- 27:54Speaker 1: I think, I think what you find is that the
- 27:58Speaker 1: family will recognize there you go for the first time
- 28:02Speaker 1: in all these years, that they are much better to
- 28:05Speaker 1: get them than they are with their own separate ideas
- 28:10Speaker 1: and circumstances and desires. They are better together. They come
- 28:15Speaker 1: back together, they come back to the foundation of who
- 28:18Speaker 1: they are. They come back to their love for each
- 28:22Speaker 1: other and their love for God, and and that's the
- 28:25Speaker 1: way to to move forward. And I think that that
- 28:29Speaker 1: is the beauty of how um we kind of complete
- 28:36Speaker 1: this journey. Family understands that family is first right now.
- 28:41Speaker 1: To my understand, you have another project that's coming up,
- 28:43Speaker 1: another movie project they're coming up. I do. I'm actually
- 28:46Speaker 1: here filming now. Come on. I told you told your
- 28:50Speaker 1: blesses were coming. I told you, I told you you did,
- 28:53Speaker 1: you did, and I received it. Um, you know, it's
- 28:56Speaker 1: it's really really amazing. I'm not allowed to talk about it, okay,
- 28:59Speaker 1: no problem, but super grateful as an amazing cast, amazing director,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and uh, something very very different from charity, So I'm
- 29:07Speaker 1: super excited for everyone to check it out. Well, all
- 29:10Speaker 1: I know is that you you know, you can your
- 29:14Speaker 1: brilliant singer, You can definitely act, you stay in the course,
- 29:18Speaker 1: you know and UH and believe that the path that
- 29:21Speaker 1: this show is presented to you has created a fan
- 29:23Speaker 1: base for you. UH also created a base for you
- 29:27Speaker 1: to be able to announce how you feel and you
- 29:30Speaker 1: can put it on video or put it in the song. Again,
- 29:33Speaker 1: the finale of Green Leaf is augustly level, but more importantly,
- 29:37Speaker 1: Friday July thirty four, tell us about that song and
- 29:41Speaker 1: why we should why we should buy it? Do you?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Friday July First, I Won't Stop Leaving is my new single.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I think if you feel like you need any piece
- 29:55Speaker 1: of hope, it is something that you should grab. It
- 29:58Speaker 1: allow you to feel, it will allow you to hell
- 30:02Speaker 1: We're More importantly, it allowed me to understand that people
- 30:06Speaker 1: like you can take the time and fame is interesting
- 30:09Speaker 1: because of some of the things that we find ourselves
- 30:12Speaker 1: are being distracted. Like you said, you're about to you
- 30:14Speaker 1: know you you're doing the press. This is basically a
- 30:16Speaker 1: press junket right now talking about talking about you talking
- 30:19Speaker 1: about your upcoming single. Then also you're setting of a
- 30:22Speaker 1: new movie that you can't talk about. Then you also
- 30:24Speaker 1: have to have a balanced life that you have to
- 30:26Speaker 1: deal with, deal with the pandemic, you got to deal
- 30:28Speaker 1: with being black in America. But for you just say hey,
- 30:31Speaker 1: you know so, Rashan, I just want to let everybody
- 30:33Speaker 1: know I care, and I also let everybody know I
- 30:35Speaker 1: do feel there's the situation that we all live in,
- 30:39Speaker 1: not just me, because you know, we all have a
- 30:41Speaker 1: slice of life where we live a little bit better
- 30:43Speaker 1: than other people, but we all should be treated as
- 30:46Speaker 1: the same. Man. I just want to thank you for
- 30:48Speaker 1: coming on the show, Devil and keep and keep living
- 30:52Speaker 1: the Wine's name. Girl. But I love you, I really
- 30:57Speaker 1: I love you. I know I called you the last
- 30:58Speaker 1: minute to be on this show, and the fact you
- 31:00Speaker 1: showed up let you know you believe in Rashawn because
- 31:02Speaker 1: I had something to tell you, girl, and I appreciate
- 31:06Speaker 1: your brother. Thank you for having me safe. Now we
- 31:08Speaker 1: talk soon and when this movie come out, and when
- 31:10Speaker 1: you come back on and we talked about this movie, okay, absolutely,
- 31:13Speaker 1: and tell them to send me the information so I
- 31:15Speaker 1: can promote you on Friday. That song when it drops.
