Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It is Verdict with Ted Cruz, the Week in Review,
- 0:04Speaker 2: Ben Ferguson with you, and here are the big stories
- 0:06Speaker 2: that you may have missed that we talked about this week.
- 0:08Speaker 2: First up, Democrats continue to threaten conservatives with violence if
- 0:14Speaker 2: you disagree with them. So is this basically the Democrat
- 0:17Speaker 2: political playbook? We break it down for you. Also, Donald
- 0:21Speaker 2: Trump making good on a promise that if you are
- 0:24Speaker 2: a pro Hamas terrorist protester on a college campus, well
- 0:28Speaker 2: there's a very good chance you're going to get deported.
- 0:31Speaker 2: And finally, foreign cash is pouring into universities, So what
- 0:36Speaker 2: is the payback and why are these universities willing to
- 0:39Speaker 2: take so much money from shady countries. We'll break it
- 0:44Speaker 2: down for you. It's the Week in Review and it
- 0:46Speaker 2: starts right now. All right, so center, there's been a
- 0:50Speaker 2: lot of violence. We've witnessed this. It's been directed towards
- 0:54Speaker 2: Elon Musk. Threats against Elon Musk, threats now are expanding
- 0:59Speaker 2: to Tesla dealers were finding in scenerary devices bombs and
- 1:02Speaker 2: dealership for example in Austin, Texas. And then there's people
- 1:06Speaker 2: now they're threatening you. This seems to be the Democratic
- 1:09Speaker 2: party's playbook. Now, if there's someone we don't like, we
- 1:12Speaker 2: go after them, We go after their businesses, We try
- 1:15Speaker 2: to destroy what they built, We try to financially ruin him.
- 1:18Speaker 2: All of this what they did to Donald Trump. And
- 1:20Speaker 2: we saw that the rhetoric literally almost cost Donald Trump's
- 1:25Speaker 2: life in that first assassination attempt that actually got him.
- 1:29Speaker 2: And now they don't seem to be backing down at all.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well, the Democrats today are the party of rage, the
- 1:36Speaker 1: party of anger. And I will say there's a house
- 1:38Speaker 1: member in Texas, Jasmine Crockett, who this week has been
- 1:42Speaker 1: a rough week for she has been unhinged. She has
- 1:47Speaker 1: called for violence against me. She has denigrated and mocked
- 1:52Speaker 1: Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, because he is in
- 1:55Speaker 1: a wheel wheelchair, because he has a disability. And it
- 1:59Speaker 1: really does show who today's Democrats are. And I want
- 2:02Speaker 1: you to listen to what she said, first about me
- 2:05Speaker 1: and then about Greg Abbott.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Give a listen, just in case the slow people listening
- 2:11Speaker 3: decide to click this up later. I just want to
- 2:13Speaker 3: say that I have never promoted violence whatsoever. I think
- 2:17Speaker 3: that you punch, I think you punch. I think you're
- 2:20Speaker 3: okay with you okay with punching, you know, I think,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and I love Colin, and I think towards the end
- 2:27Speaker 3: he started to punch a little harder. But like it's
- 2:29Speaker 3: sad grouse. I mean, like this dude has to be
- 2:32Speaker 3: knocks over the head like hard, right, Like there is
- 2:36Speaker 3: no niceties with him, like at all, Like you you
- 2:39Speaker 3: go clean off on him, right.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I hear that, and I just shake my head center
- 2:45Speaker 2: because of course, when the fire is of the spotlight
- 2:50Speaker 2: is on her, she's like, oh, I've never called for violence,
- 2:53Speaker 2: and then you play the clip right there, it's very
- 2:55Speaker 2: clear what she's saying.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Look, I gotta admit I've never met the woman, Jasmine Crockett.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I don't know her. She's a new congresswoman from Texas.
- 3:06Speaker 1: She seems really angry, she seems really radical. She seems
- 3:10Speaker 1: to be the darling of the radical left because she
- 3:13Speaker 1: calls for crazy things. I will tell you, Look, I've
- 3:17Speaker 1: been this senate thirteen years. One of it's an incredible privilege.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'm blessed. I jump out of bed every day excited
- 3:26Speaker 1: because I get to fight for Texas, I get to
- 3:28Speaker 1: fight for America. I will tell you. One of the
- 3:31Speaker 1: downsides of this job. I have literally hundreds of death
- 3:35Speaker 1: threats against me.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And by the way, I'm going to be quar you
- 3:38Speaker 2: and I we spend a lot of time together, we travel.
- 3:42Speaker 2: There are a lot of people that come up and encourage.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But man, some of these things that people say. And
- 3:48Speaker 2: I've had the threats, not like you've had threats, but
- 3:51Speaker 2: it's like part of the business now. Which is the
- 3:54Speaker 2: worst part about it is that if you're in politics
- 3:56Speaker 2: and you're conservative, there are people that want you to
- 3:58Speaker 2: die and come atter you. But you and I we
- 4:01Speaker 2: went to a game and people were screaming the F
- 4:04Speaker 2: bomb in front of your daughter who was with us,
- 4:08Speaker 2: And there was several times that happened, and it's like
- 4:10Speaker 2: there is no just like you're a dad in that moment,
- 4:14Speaker 2: you're a father. I'm a dad. When I'm out my
- 4:16Speaker 2: son and someone gets to my face of the HGB
- 4:18Speaker 2: and start screaming exers at me in a cerial io,
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's like, what is wrong with these people? And yet
- 4:23Speaker 2: it seems to be getting worse, not better.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Yeah, look, there are a lot of people that are
- 4:28Speaker 1: just unhinged and filled with hate. And I'll tell you look,
- 4:33Speaker 1: Hevian encouragement listen. The folks that listen to verdict, you
- 4:36Speaker 1: guys are amazing. I'm so grateful for you. You're incredibly
- 4:40Speaker 1: engaged and you're passionate, and you're fighting to save this country.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I will tell you, when I travel around, the ratio
- 4:48Speaker 1: of positive to negative comments, it is more than ninety
- 4:53Speaker 1: percent positive. It's probably ninety five percent or even ninety
- 4:56Speaker 1: eight percent positive. So it's encouraging. When I'm out at air,
- 5:00Speaker 1: when I'm out at a shopping mall, people say nice things.
- 5:03Speaker 1: They say thank you, they say that I appreciate you,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and that's gratifying that that makes me happy. There are
- 5:09Speaker 1: regularly people who don't, and people on the left. Now,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I got to say, many of them on the left,
- 5:16Speaker 1: when they say something negative, they'll like screw up their
- 5:19Speaker 1: courage that they'll run up and they'll go f you
- 5:22Speaker 1: and they'll just you like yell at me. And it's
- 5:25Speaker 1: very funny. It's like, wow, you spent a long time
- 5:30Speaker 1: thinking about that. That was the best you could come
- 5:32Speaker 1: up with. That was very clever. And my standard response,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and unfortunately it happens often enough that I have to
- 5:41Speaker 1: have a standard response. My standard response is I say God,
- 5:45Speaker 1: bless you. And I got to tell you, it infuriates them.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And you know, there's a principle in the Bible that
- 5:52Speaker 1: if you repay hatred with kindness, that it is like
- 5:58Speaker 1: piling hot coals on their heads. So I'll say God
- 6:02Speaker 1: bless you, and I'll smile, I'll be very happy. Like
- 6:04Speaker 1: when they say f you, my response is God bless you.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And there was one time in Houston where this this
- 6:10Speaker 1: like liberal woman screamed f you and I said God
- 6:14Speaker 1: bless you. And she's like, I don't want your God's
- 6:18Speaker 1: love and I said that's okay, Jesus loves you anyway.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And it drove her nuts, like like she almost had
- 6:27Speaker 1: an aneurysm when I said that. And I try to
- 6:30Speaker 1: be smiling and show a contrast. And I will say,
- 6:36Speaker 1: just a couple of days ago, I had a young
- 6:38Speaker 1: woman who was screaming F you, and I did say
- 6:42Speaker 1: something to the effect of your very charming, your mother,
- 6:45Speaker 1: but it must be very proud. How'd that turn out?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Oh?
- 6:49Speaker 1: She just stormed off. And I'm sure as she was
- 6:52Speaker 1: driving home she's thought of fifty different responses, but she
- 6:55Speaker 1: didn't say any of them. She's just like, yeah, I
- 6:59Speaker 1: randomly scream a few at people at the airport. I'm
- 7:01Speaker 1: a great person, but listen, when you have people on
- 7:06Speaker 1: the left encouraging listen, Jasmine is saying you need to
- 7:09Speaker 1: hit him in the head and hit him really hard.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'll be honest, Ben, I really hope someone doesn't hit
- 7:15Speaker 1: me in the head really hard, like I would prefer
- 7:17Speaker 1: not to have my brain smashed in.
- 7:19Speaker 2: This is the part where I think it's a bigger
- 7:21Speaker 2: issue that concerns me. It's the dog whistles that come
- 7:26Speaker 2: from the leadership.
- 7:27Speaker 4: By the way, Democratic Party, Donald trumpsh in your face.
- 7:29Speaker 4: You had two assassins who tried to kill him. Yeah,
- 7:33Speaker 4: We've got Democrats who are fire bombing Tesla and radical
- 7:37Speaker 4: leftists and no Democrat is condemning it. They are calling
- 7:40Speaker 4: for violence. These are the same people that had Antifa
- 7:43Speaker 4: and Black Lives Matter riots and and so the threat
- 7:47Speaker 4: of violence is very real. We had at the at
- 7:50Speaker 4: the baseball practice, we had a radical leftist, a Bernie
- 7:53Speaker 4: Sanders supporter, who came and said he asked someone, hey,
- 7:56Speaker 4: are those Republicans there? They said yes, he came with
- 7:59Speaker 4: a rifle and shot people and and had it was
- 8:03Speaker 4: pure happenstance that Steve Scalise, who was a member of
- 8:08Speaker 4: House Leadership.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Was there because he had a security detail, and that
- 8:11Speaker 1: security detail shot and killed this radical leftist. If let's
- 8:17Speaker 1: say Scalise had been ten minutes late that morning, let's
- 8:21Speaker 1: say he'd been delayed, he'd been taking his kids to school,
- 8:23Speaker 1: he'd been doing something else, and he was delayed, that
- 8:26Speaker 1: radical leftist would have murdered over a dozen House members
- 8:31Speaker 1: and two US senators. We came incredibly close to a
- 8:35Speaker 1: massacre because of the active solicitation of violence. And let
- 8:40Speaker 1: me be clear, this is on one side the leftist
- 8:44Speaker 1: calling for violence. I categorically opposed violence. I don't want
- 8:49Speaker 1: anyone to engage in violence against leftists. I'm not calling
- 8:52Speaker 1: for this nutcase Jasmine Crockett to face the violence. No, no, no, now.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I think her views are anathema and wan you to
- 9:00Speaker 1: play what she said like a day or two later
- 9:03Speaker 1: attacking Greg Abbott, because it is equally not just listen
- 9:07Speaker 1: to this.
- 9:09Speaker 3: We in these hot ass Texas streets, Honey, y'all know
- 9:15Speaker 3: we got govinal hot wheels down there. Come on now,
- 9:20Speaker 3: and the only thing hot about him is that he
- 9:23Speaker 3: is a hot ass mess. Honey, So so yes, yes, yes.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yes, I mean you listen to that. It's like, one,
- 9:36Speaker 2: what do you think is going to come of that?
- 9:38Speaker 2: The other thing is the backdrop behind her is she's
- 9:40Speaker 2: literally speaking at the Human Rights Campaign and that's what
- 9:45Speaker 2: she's preaching and people are laughing and clapping as she's
- 9:48Speaker 2: on stage four again.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But by the way, it can't be do you do
- 9:52Speaker 1: you know why Greg Abbott is in a wheelchair?
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 9:54Speaker 2: It was, if I remember the story correctly, he was
- 9:57Speaker 2: running at the park in a random tree limb. I
- 10:00Speaker 2: fell on his head and paralyzed.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It broke his back. And I'll tell you I worked
- 10:05Speaker 1: for him five and a half years. Gray Abbott is
- 10:07Speaker 1: a dear friend. He's been a boss, a mentor, and
- 10:11Speaker 1: he would tell a joke, Like when I first went
- 10:12Speaker 1: to work for him, he would tell a joke. He'd
- 10:15Speaker 1: get up and say, Okay, I know what you're thinking,
- 10:18Speaker 1: how slow was that guy running to get hit by
- 10:20Speaker 1: a tree? And like the first time he jokes about it,
- 10:24Speaker 1: you're not sure what to say, like, wait, am I
- 10:26Speaker 1: allowed to laugh about it? And he would he would
- 10:29Speaker 1: tell jokes about it, and you could be like, okay,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I mean I guess if you can joke about it.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I can laugh about it, but you know it was tragic.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And he's been paralyzed for twenty plus maybe thirty plus years,
- 10:42Speaker 1: a long time in a wheelchair, and she's sitting there
- 10:46Speaker 1: at supposedly the Human Rights Campaign. Now it's a leftist,
- 10:49Speaker 1: radical group that is obsessed with LGBT. I mean, that's
- 10:53Speaker 1: really what they exist. But they're cheering, yes, Governor hot wheels,
- 10:59Speaker 1: he's disabled to a wheelchair, ha ha. What the hell's
- 11:03Speaker 1: wrong with these people? I mean that is that is
- 11:06Speaker 1: nasty and hateful and it's whose today's Democrat Party is.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Now. If you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
- 11:15Speaker 2: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
- 11:17Speaker 2: from earlier this week. Now onto story number two, Senator,
- 11:21Speaker 2: I want to move to the other story that you
- 11:23Speaker 2: mentioned earlier, and this goes in the category of promises
- 11:28Speaker 2: made promises cap for Donald Trump. Another pro Haamas protester
- 11:34Speaker 2: is in serious trouble after his actions on a college campus.
- 11:39Speaker 2: This is making liberal heads explode. But that's exactly what
- 11:43Speaker 2: the President said he was going to do, and he's
- 11:44Speaker 2: making good on that promise yet again.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Well, and this is something we discussed in the podcast
- 11:50Speaker 1: You and I did at Seapack while we interviewed Pam Bondi,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and we talked about the fact that the Trump administration
- 11:55Speaker 1: is going to go after these radical anti Semitic, anti American,
- 11:59Speaker 1: anti is protesters and if you threaten violence against fellow
- 12:03Speaker 1: students or if you are attacking America, you have no
- 12:08Speaker 1: entitlement to be allowed into this country. And it's interesting
- 12:12Speaker 1: you're seeing Democrats who are have suddenly discovered free speech.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Mind you, when it comes to Americans speaking, they don't
- 12:19Speaker 1: give a damn about free speech. When it comes to
- 12:21Speaker 1: big tech censoring you, they don't care about free speech.
- 12:24Speaker 1: American citizens have no First Amendment rights, and the Democrats
- 12:28Speaker 1: bizarre lexicon. But if you are a vicious anti Semite,
- 12:32Speaker 1: if you hate America, if you hate Israel, and you're
- 12:36Speaker 1: not an American, well then suddenly they think you're protected.
- 12:38Speaker 1: And it is insane. So the latest radical who had
- 12:43Speaker 1: his visa revoked is a student at Cornell and he's
- 12:48Speaker 1: an individual named Momodo Tal. Now Momodo Tal, according to
- 12:54Speaker 1: the Washington Free Beacon, is a graduate student who has
- 12:58Speaker 1: called for the destruction of the United States, has celebrated
- 13:03Speaker 1: the October seventh attacks by a Hamas and has said
- 13:07Speaker 1: that he takes his quote c from the armed resistance
- 13:12Speaker 1: in Palestine. Now, who is Mammado Tal. He is a
- 13:17Speaker 1: British and Gambian dual national, so he's not an American.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And he began studying in Cornell twenty twenty two on
- 13:25Speaker 1: an F one student visa. That student visa has been revoked.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Good and Tall received an email from the Department of
- 13:36Speaker 1: Justice that said ICE invites mister Tall and his counsel
- 13:39Speaker 1: to appear in person at the HSI office in Syracuse
- 13:43Speaker 1: at a mutually agreeable time for personal service of the
- 13:46Speaker 1: notice to appear and for mister Tall to surrender to
- 13:49Speaker 1: ICE custody. And of course what did Tall do? He
- 13:54Speaker 1: engaged in law far and wet and filed a lawsuits
- 13:56Speaker 1: seeking to block it. Now what has Tall said? Tall
- 14:02Speaker 1: has said, Number one, He's called on fellow student protesters
- 14:07Speaker 1: to take their cues from the arm resistance in Palestine,
- 14:11Speaker 1: armed by the way, not just resistance, armed resistance. He
- 14:15Speaker 1: has also said, quote, we are in solidarity with the
- 14:18Speaker 1: arm resistance in Palestine from the river to the sea.
- 14:23Speaker 1: He also said just after October seventh, hours after he
- 14:28Speaker 1: said quote. The dialect demands that whenever, wherever you have oppression,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you will find those who are fighting against it. Glory
- 14:40Speaker 1: to the resistance. Now the dialect. Look, this guy is
- 14:43Speaker 1: a communist, he's a Marxist. We talked about how cultural
- 14:46Speaker 1: Marxism they divide the world into oppressors and victims, and
- 14:52Speaker 1: they actively cheer on the violent revolution of the so
- 14:56Speaker 1: called victims against the so called oppressors. Now this is
- 14:59Speaker 1: ours after October seventh. This is as women and little
- 15:02Speaker 1: girls are being raped, as twelve hundred civilians are being murdered.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And here is what he's saying. The dialect demands that
- 15:08Speaker 1: wherever you have oppression, you will find those who are
- 15:11Speaker 1: fighting against it. Glory to the resistance. That's not all
- 15:15Speaker 1: he said. When he applied for his student visa, he wrote, quote,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and this is on Twitter, the end of the US
- 15:24Speaker 1: Empire in our lifetime in Shalla. Months later, the idiots
- 15:29Speaker 1: and the Biden administration gave him his student visa, and
- 15:33Speaker 1: he wrote, student visa issued. We are going to America,
- 15:37Speaker 1: baby alham di lula. I don't know what that means,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but I'm guessing it is not nice. Shortly thereafter, he tweeted,
- 15:46Speaker 1: my hatred of the US empire knows no bound walahai.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Again.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I don't know what that means, but I'm guessing again
- 15:57Speaker 1: it is celebrating against America. Hit one other thing, he
- 16:01Speaker 1: posted quote when the enemy is US imperialism, then absolutely
- 16:07Speaker 1: anyone the US calls an enemy is my friend. Let
- 16:13Speaker 1: me be clear, this anti American, anti Semitic radical who
- 16:19Speaker 1: hates America needs to get the hell out of our country.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He has no entitlement to be here, and we have
- 16:24Speaker 1: no obligation. We have no legal obligation, We have no
- 16:27Speaker 1: constitutional obligation, and we certainly have no moral obligation to say, hey,
- 16:33Speaker 1: people who hate America, people who say quote anyone who
- 16:37Speaker 1: calls the US an enemy is my friend. You know what,
- 16:40Speaker 1: if that's true, get your ass out of this country.
- 16:43Speaker 1: We don't need you here threatening Americans.
- 16:47Speaker 2: It really is about threatening Americans and threatening kids on
- 16:50Speaker 2: college campuses. And we've seen anti semitism, for example, that
- 16:54Speaker 2: is just skyrocket on college campuses, and a lot of
- 16:57Speaker 2: this is well organized. We continue to see that a
- 17:02Speaker 2: lot of these agitators and protesters are acting in groups
- 17:07Speaker 2: and pre planning this around the country, and that has
- 17:10Speaker 2: to be very concerning. I think not only for college students,
- 17:13Speaker 2: but especially for students that are Jewish, but really concerning
- 17:17Speaker 2: for I think everyday Americans understand that we've been allowing
- 17:22Speaker 2: these people in and this is what they're doing.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And understand the threats. Let me read you another tweet
- 17:29Speaker 1: that he sent quote, we are actually living in an
- 17:34Speaker 1: effing alternative reality, although he did not abbreviate fing Zionists
- 17:39Speaker 1: living comfortably in the US and Zionist Jewish students at
- 17:44Speaker 1: Ivy League institutions are claiming to be unsafe, scared, and
- 17:48Speaker 1: somehow everyone is calling for their genocide, whilst in four
- 17:52Speaker 1: K we are witnessing a genocide of the Palestinian people,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and many of these same folks who claim to feel
- 17:58Speaker 1: scared are cheering on the action of the IOF BFFR.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. Every single Zionist is
- 18:05Speaker 1: a sick, sick individual, and there can be no path
- 18:11Speaker 1: forward except for the complete eradication of Zionism materially and mentally.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And then he tweets a little bit later, Zionists are
- 18:24Speaker 1: indeed the chosen people chosen for Hell. Now understand one
- 18:31Speaker 1: game that anti Semites play which is many times they
- 18:36Speaker 1: use the word Zionist when what they mean is Jew
- 18:39Speaker 1: and they just think it's It's like, oh, I'm pretending
- 18:42Speaker 1: to be slightly less bigoted by calling it Zionists. Look,
- 18:46Speaker 1: they consider an any Actually, at one point says Zionist
- 18:48Speaker 1: slash Jewish students. This is an anti Semite who hates
- 18:53Speaker 1: Jews and who is calling for the complete eradication of Zionism,
- 18:58Speaker 1: by which he means the pleat eradication of Jews. And
- 19:01Speaker 1: he says they are the chosen people, they are chosen
- 19:04Speaker 1: for Hell. This is a bigot who hates America. And
- 19:11Speaker 1: you know what was happening after the Trump administration moved
- 19:15Speaker 1: to deport this radical leftists were protesting in support of him.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And by the way, have you heard a single Democrat
- 19:28Speaker 1: in the Senate speak out in favor of revoking his visa. No,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you had left wing activists on Cornell protesting his deportation
- 19:38Speaker 1: on Thursday and they were chanting hands off MoMA do
- 19:43Speaker 1: waving signs opposing mass deportation. Listen, any reporter, every reporter
- 19:49Speaker 1: ought to asked the democrats, do you believe we have
- 19:53Speaker 1: to give student visas to people who say their enemies
- 19:56Speaker 1: of America and hate America. It's there's no legal basis
- 20:02Speaker 1: for that. And I have yet to see a Democrat
- 20:06Speaker 1: explain why they cheer on pro Hamas radicals. But I
- 20:11Speaker 1: got to say, let's say you're a moderate Democrat but
- 20:18Speaker 1: not swept up in the sort of Trump derangement syndrome anger.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You got to ask why Washington Democrats when they look
- 20:26Speaker 1: at October seventh, when they look at the radicals on campuses,
- 20:30Speaker 1: why the Democrats say we stand with Hamas and we
- 20:33Speaker 1: stand with the pro Hamas protesters. That's got to make
- 20:36Speaker 1: you wonder what the heck has happened to the Democrat
- 20:40Speaker 1: Party as before.
- 20:41Speaker 2: If you want to hear the rest of this conversation
- 20:44Speaker 2: on this topic, you can go back and dow the
- 20:46Speaker 2: podcast from earlier this week to hear the entire thing.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I want to get back to the big story number
- 20:52Speaker 2: three of the week you may have missed, which brings
- 20:55Speaker 2: me to story number three, and this is one where
- 20:58Speaker 2: we have I think led on exposing the amount of
- 21:03Speaker 2: foreign money that's been pouring into universities. We also exposed
- 21:06Speaker 2: it with a Biden crime family and the amount of
- 21:08Speaker 2: foreign dours coming in to the Biden Institute, for example,
- 21:11Speaker 2: and other universities. And we've witnessed the amount of money
- 21:15Speaker 2: coming in to a point where you say, this doesn't
- 21:18Speaker 2: make sense economically. This is my opinion. I think now
- 21:23Speaker 2: you're looking at a bigger issue, which is what are
- 21:25Speaker 2: they actually getting in return for the staggering amounts of
- 21:29Speaker 2: foreign money that's pouring these universities. Is this covert ops
- 21:34Speaker 2: by foreign nations? Is this trying to control the next
- 21:36Speaker 2: generation of American minds? Is this about spying? What is it?
- 21:41Speaker 2: But when you look at this new report from a
- 21:43Speaker 2: nonprofit and a non person government watchdog group, they're sounding
- 21:47Speaker 2: the alarm saying this amount of money coming in is
- 21:50Speaker 2: not just from do gooders. This money's coming in, It's
- 21:53Speaker 2: coming in for something big center. What is that?
- 21:56Speaker 1: Yeah, look, this is not covert, It is overt, is open,
- 22:00Speaker 1: is out and breezen. So the historian Fox News entitled
- 22:04Speaker 1: quote new report sounds alarm on staggering amount of foreign
- 22:08Speaker 1: money pouring into US universities. The report says that seven
- 22:12Speaker 1: hundred and ninety five million dollars has gone from foreign
- 22:16Speaker 1: adversaries to American universities. And here's what the article says,
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm going to quote a little bit of it. Quote.
- 22:22Speaker 1: A new report from a nonprofit and nonpartisan government watchdog
- 22:26Speaker 1: is shedding light on the tens of billions of dollars
- 22:30Speaker 1: tens of billions that have poured into US universities in
- 22:34Speaker 1: recent years, including twenty billion dollars to some of the
- 22:38Speaker 1: most prestigious universities in the country. The report, produced by
- 22:42Speaker 1: Americans for Public Trust and released this week, found that
- 22:46Speaker 1: sixty billion dollars again, sixty billion dollars in foreign gifts
- 22:52Speaker 1: and contracts were funneled into American colleges and universities, including
- 22:57Speaker 1: twenty billion dollars alone to elite sks like Harvard, Yale,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and others. Within that total, seven hundred and ninety five
- 23:05Speaker 1: million dollars came from nations that are long standing adversaries
- 23:09Speaker 1: to the United States, including China, Russia, Venezuela, and Yemen.
- 23:15Speaker 1: This is shocking, It is fundamental corruption. I can tell
- 23:18Speaker 1: you I've introduced legislation to require to minimum that universities
- 23:22Speaker 1: report every dollar of foreign money they receive so that
- 23:24Speaker 1: we have scrutiny. And I'll tell you, Ben, one of
- 23:27Speaker 1: the very first pieces of legislation ever passed when I
- 23:30Speaker 1: was a brand new baby centator thirteen years ago, was
- 23:33Speaker 1: dealing with this issue of foreign money flooding into universities,
- 23:37Speaker 1: and China had been funding these things called Confucius Institutes
- 23:41Speaker 1: confuseds insitutes were institutes on American college campuses that taught Mandarin,
- 23:48Speaker 1: that taught the Chinese language, and they were used number
- 23:52Speaker 1: one as hubs of espionage where China would send spies
- 23:56Speaker 1: to engage in espionage in the United States, and number
- 23:59Speaker 1: two two as tools of propaganda, where they would push
- 24:03Speaker 1: propaganda that was favorable to the Chinese communist government. And
- 24:08Speaker 1: when I was a brand new baby senator, I introduced
- 24:10Speaker 1: legislation that banned any money from the Federal Department of
- 24:15Speaker 1: Defense going to university that had a Confucius Institute. And
- 24:20Speaker 1: at the time they introduced it, we had a Democrat Senate.
- 24:22Speaker 1: When I got elected Harry Reid as majority leader, the
- 24:25Speaker 1: Democrats were in the majority. I was on the Senate
- 24:27Speaker 1: Armed Services Committee. I introduced this amendment, and Ben I'll
- 24:30Speaker 1: tell you I got bipartisan support. I got Democrats to
- 24:33Speaker 1: support me and Republicans. We passed it into law, and
- 24:36Speaker 1: the legislation I passed resulted in more than twenty Confucius
- 24:41Speaker 1: institutes across the country being shut down. This was a
- 24:45Speaker 1: problem back in twenty thirteen, I got to say, in
- 24:47Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, it's much much worse.
- 24:50Speaker 2: So what is the government's response now? What should the
- 24:55Speaker 2: government response be moving forward? And is it time to
- 24:59Speaker 2: actually look at these universities and ask questions or have
- 25:03Speaker 2: regulations about money coming in from foreign countries, especially those
- 25:07Speaker 2: that are adversaries of the United States of America. I
- 25:11Speaker 2: don't like government overreach, I want to make that clear.
- 25:14Speaker 2: But the wild wild West that we're we're looking at
- 25:17Speaker 2: right now from this report and sixty billion and foreign
- 25:21Speaker 2: gifts and contracts are funneled to American colleges and universities
- 25:25Speaker 2: like that, they're getting something in return. Twenty billion a
- 25:29Speaker 2: loan to Harvard, Yale and other elite schools, they're getting
- 25:33Speaker 2: something in return. And if they're buying the minds of
- 25:36Speaker 2: American students or influence or even what worries me the
- 25:41Speaker 2: most is stealing intellectual property or spying on America and
- 25:46Speaker 2: future leaders. This scares the hell out of me. So
- 25:49Speaker 2: what should the government's response be?
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, all of the above. So they're doing
- 25:55Speaker 1: this to buy influence. They're doing this to push propaganda,
- 25:59Speaker 1: They're doing this to engage at espionage, they're doing this
- 26:03Speaker 1: to steal intellectual property, and so many of our universities,
- 26:07Speaker 1: especially our elite universities, have eagerly jumped in bed with them. Look,
- 26:12Speaker 1: you and I discussed early on in the wake of
- 26:14Speaker 1: October seventh, when the anti Semitic protests were breaking out,
- 26:18Speaker 1: if you look at the universities with the highest percentage
- 26:22Speaker 1: of foreign students, it almost perfectly maps to the universities
- 26:27Speaker 1: with the most the most virulent, the most nasty anti
- 26:30Speaker 1: Semitic protests. Universities like Columbian NYU are at the very
- 26:34Speaker 1: top of the list. And when you let in a
- 26:36Speaker 1: bunch of foreign students. Now, look, universities like foreign students
- 26:39Speaker 1: because they pay full tuition, they pay full freight. They're
- 26:43Speaker 1: cash cows. But why are American universities and in the
- 26:47Speaker 1: business of educating foreigners, especially foreigners who hate American or
- 26:51Speaker 1: undermining America. I don't see a reason for that. But
- 26:54Speaker 1: not only that, but they're pushing this to drive a
- 26:58Speaker 1: political agenda. And so what should we do? Number One,
- 27:02Speaker 1: we need transparency. As I mentioned, I've introduced legislation to
- 27:05Speaker 1: require transparency. If a university is getting money from a
- 27:09Speaker 1: foreign country, we need to know about it, how much
- 27:12Speaker 1: from which country? And I'll tell you the legislation I'm
- 27:14Speaker 1: introducing puts putative tax penalties if you get money from
- 27:18Speaker 1: a country that is an enemy of America. In my
- 27:21Speaker 1: view of the federal government ought to put penalties in
- 27:24Speaker 1: place where you end up being taxed more than you get.
- 27:27Speaker 1: We don't need the enemies of America funding our universities
- 27:31Speaker 1: and actively undermining our education. We need leaders who are
- 27:34Speaker 1: willing to stand up for America first, and I think
- 27:37Speaker 1: that's incredibly important.
- 27:39Speaker 2: If you look at the money that came in a
- 27:41Speaker 2: perfect example of this is within that total I gave
- 27:43Speaker 2: you the twenty billion alone going to those elite schools,
- 27:47Speaker 2: seven hundred and ninety five million came from nations that
- 27:52Speaker 2: are long standing advisaris in the US, including China, Russia, Venezuela,
- 27:55Speaker 2: and Yemen. Is it also time to look at certain
- 27:58Speaker 2: countries and say you can't have donations coming in from there.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Yes, and we ought to penalize the hell out of it.
- 28:03Speaker 1: If it Ran is funding your university, you're doing something
- 28:07Speaker 1: fundamentally wrong.
- 28:08Speaker 2: As always thank you for listening to Verdict with Center,
