Wyoming’s trout are in hot water — literally. As summer temps soar, the Game and Fish Department is urging anglers to pause fishing in key stretches of the Upper North Platte and Encampment rivers to protect stressed fish. Water temps regularly exceed 70°F, stripping oxygen and making recovery nearly impossible. On the Upper North Platte, from the Colorado border to Dugway Campground, fishing is off-limits entirely — even early mornings aren’t cool enough. Signs will mark the zone.
