- 0:00Acts chapter 3. Now Peter and John were going up
- 0:02to the temple at the 9th hour, the hour of prayer, and a man
- 0:06who had been lame from his mother's womb was being carried
- 0:08along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of
- 0:10the temple which is called beautiful, in order to beg alms
- 0:13of those who were entering the temple.
- 0:15When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began
- 0:17asking to receive alms. But Peter along with John fixed
- 0:20his gaze on him and said, Look at us.
- 0:23And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive
- 0:25something from them. But Peter said, I do not possess
- 0:29silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you in the name
- 0:32of Jesus Christ the Nazarene Walk.
- 0:35And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up, and
- 0:37immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened.
- 0:40With a leap he stood upright and began to walk.
- 0:42And he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping, and
- 0:45praising God. And all the people saw him
- 0:47walking and praising God, and they were taking note of him as
- 0:50being the one who used to sit at the beautiful gate of the temple
- 0:52to beg alms. And they were filled with wonder
- 0:55and amazement at what had happened to him.
- 0:57While he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran
- 1:00together to them at the so-called portico of Solomon,
- 1:02full of amazement. But when Peter saw this, he
- 1:05replied to the people. Men of Israel, why are you
- 1:08amazed at this? Or why do you gaze at us as if
- 1:11by our own power or piety we had made him walk?
- 1:14The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers,
- 1:17has glorified his servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and
- 1:20disowned in the presence of Pilate when he had decided to
- 1:23release Him. But you disown the holy and
- 1:25righteous one and ask for a murderer to be granted to you,
- 1:28but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised
- 1:31from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses not, and on the
- 1:35basis of faith in His name. It is the name of Jesus which
- 1:38has strengthened this man whom you see and know, and the faith
- 1:42which comes through him has given him this perfect health in
- 1:45the presence of you all. And now, brethren, I know that
- 1:48you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did also.
- 1:51But the things which God announced beforehand by the
- 1:53mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he has
- 1:57thus fulfilled. Therefore repent and return, so
- 2:00that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of
- 2:03refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that
- 2:06He may send Jesus the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven
- 2:09must receive until a period of restoration of all things about
- 2:12which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient
- 2:15time. Moses said, The Lord God will
- 2:18raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren to him.
- 2:21You shall give heed to everything he says to you.
- 2:24And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet
- 2:27shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.
- 2:30And likewise all the prophets who have spoken from Samuel and
- 2:33his successors onward also announce these days it is you
- 2:37who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God
- 2:39made with your father's saying to Abraham.
- 2:42And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be
- 2:45blessed for you. First, God raised up his servant
- 2:48and sent him to bless you by turning everyone of you from
- 2:51your wicked ways.
