  I'm thinking today of Jeremiah 6 6. Jeremiah 6 6 says as follows,

  For thus says the Lord of hosts, cut down her trees and cast up a siege against Jerusalem.

  This is the city to be punished, in whose midst there is only oppression. Jeremiah 6 6.

  This is such a different way of speaking about Jerusalem. This is God's holy city.

  But because of their lack of righteousness, they are being set up for slaughter.

  I'm reminded of the verse that says,

  Expel the immoral brother. I'm talking about the person in the New Testament who has sinned that shouldn't even be found in the world.

  We can be saved and still hung out to dry if we're stupid enough to be willingly and repeatedly unrighteous.

  Following the Lord, God calls us to be godly.

  Jesus, while he walked on this earth, said, I only do the things I see my father doing.

  Well, that ought to be us. We ought to only want to do the things that God wants us to do.

  I ask you today, turn to rightness. Do the right thing and be a holy people.

  Be a loving, kind, merciful people. Forgive people. Share willingly.

  And comfort others with the comfort that you yourself have been comforted with.

  We can make a difference in the world. And if not, if we're unwilling to and we are willing instead to continually sin against God after we claim to be followers of the Lord,

  then I would expect to be hung out to dry by God.

  He'll be with you eternally. But in the meantime, there's a deep price to be paid, a difficult road to be traveled for those who continue in unrighteousness after claiming Jesus as Lord and Savior.
