- 1:44Speaker 7: to turn the mouth, turn out, turn the money up.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Look, come on, come on, you'll think I sure wi him.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Good morning everybody y'all listening to the voice, Come on,
- 2:06Speaker 2: take me now? One and on is Steve Harvey's got
- 2:09Speaker 2: a radio show?
- 2:11Speaker 5: Yeah? Man, one.
- 2:13Speaker 2: God has been good to me. Man, I can't really
- 2:17Speaker 2: count at all. You can't either, you know, it's all
- 2:20Speaker 2: in perspective. You really can't count all that God has
- 2:24Speaker 2: done for you if you look at every little thing.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's unbelievable the things He's done for us. How many
- 2:31Speaker 2: times you know, we got through something without even talking
- 2:34Speaker 2: to him about it. He just he just blessed us
- 2:36Speaker 2: with it. How many you know? It's just it's so
- 2:40Speaker 2: much that the fact that you wake up in the morning,
- 2:43Speaker 2: the fact that you still have a place to stay,
- 2:45Speaker 2: the fact that you know may be struggling out here,
- 2:47Speaker 2: but guess what, you still going to work. You know
- 2:50Speaker 2: you live in check to check, but you're making it all.
- 2:53Speaker 2: You got all the plates spinning. You know, it's hard.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You got a lot of plate spinning, but you keep
- 2:57Speaker 2: him up there. Someone every now and there in one break,
- 2:59Speaker 2: but he put two more back up there to look
- 3:01Speaker 2: a little bit better. And you got to get to
- 3:02Speaker 2: spending them so it all works. And then you got
- 3:06Speaker 2: a lot of people who just can't seem to mentally
- 3:10Speaker 2: put it together as to you know, why their life
- 3:15Speaker 2: isn't in a position that they wanted to be. We
- 3:18Speaker 2: talk about this oftentimes, but I don't want to try
- 3:20Speaker 2: another angle with you today.
- 3:22Speaker 5: You know, maybe it's you. Have you ever thought about that?
- 3:28Speaker 5: Maybe it's you.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Maybe it's no external force that's at fault, like you
- 3:34Speaker 2: keep making the excuse to be You know, so many
- 3:38Speaker 2: people out here, Well, if this hadn't ha done this,
- 3:40Speaker 2: if he hadn't have done that, if she hadn't have
- 3:42Speaker 2: done that, I would have been further along. I wasted
- 3:46Speaker 2: all my time, my years with this man, and he
- 3:49Speaker 2: did this, and I could have been here, and I
- 3:51Speaker 2: could have been there, and this woman she did this
- 3:54Speaker 2: to mean if she hadn't have done that, I could
- 3:57Speaker 2: have been here and I could have been there.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Maybe it's you.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Maybe it's not really that external force that you keep
- 4:05Speaker 2: making it out to be. See, I've done this to
- 4:09Speaker 2: myself before. Once again, I'm talking to you about something
- 4:14Speaker 2: I know about. I've done this to myself before. I've
- 4:18Speaker 2: had the reason I wasn't where I wanted to be.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I had it figured out as some external force. I
- 4:27Speaker 2: had worked it out in my mind. Clearly it wasn't
- 4:30Speaker 2: me because of so and so, or if this hadn't happen,
- 4:34Speaker 2: and if they hadn't have done this, I would have been.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Further along up the road. That's what I was saying.
- 4:40Speaker 5: But hold on, man, boy learned a valuable lesson.
- 4:43Speaker 8: Man.
- 4:45Speaker 2: See, if you don't ever let it go, it's gonna
- 4:51Speaker 2: be hard for you to go. If you don't ever
- 4:56Speaker 2: let it go, it's gonna be hard for you you
- 5:00Speaker 2: to go. I was listening to Bishop td Jake's one
- 5:03Speaker 2: day and I heard him say, you can't drive your
- 5:09Speaker 2: car if you gonna keep looking in the rear view mirror.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You go outside and try that. Try to drive your car,
- 5:17Speaker 2: but keep your eye in the rearview mirror. All you
- 5:21Speaker 2: looking at is where you're being all you're looking at
- 5:24Speaker 2: in that rear view mirror is where you passed or
- 5:27Speaker 2: should have passed, something you should have moved on from.
- 5:30Speaker 2: All you're doing is looking in that rear view mirror
- 5:33Speaker 2: at what happened back now. If you don't stop looking
- 5:38Speaker 2: in the rearview mirror, you're gonna crash your car over
- 5:42Speaker 2: and over and over again. All you got to slow
- 5:46Speaker 2: it down so bad in order for you to keep
- 5:50Speaker 2: looking in that rear view mirror. If you don't learn
- 5:55Speaker 2: to let it go, it's gonna be hard for you
- 5:59Speaker 2: to go forward because you keep reviewing the past. The
- 6:06Speaker 2: past is the past, and I know it's hard.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Man.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I watched a show and this lady said, well, I
- 6:11Speaker 2: just can't ever forgive them for that, or guess what,
- 6:15Speaker 2: guess what God may have already forgiven that person. That
- 6:21Speaker 2: person may be extremely remorseful, could have gone to God
- 6:24Speaker 2: and got in forgiveness for it years ago. But you
- 6:29Speaker 2: you sit here and you keep hanging on to the back.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I can't ever forgive that. Then I heard Bishop Jakes
- 6:37Speaker 2: come on the show one time and say something that
- 6:39Speaker 2: really really struck home.
- 6:42Speaker 5: You keep drinking the poison, waiting on your enemy to die.
- 6:49Speaker 5: He said that.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I just shook my head and went, wow, you drinking
- 6:54Speaker 2: the poison. Waiting on your enemy to die. Revenge is
- 6:59Speaker 2: poison to you. You know, if hatred is poison to you.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Unforgivingness when you won't forgive a person, that person could
- 7:12Speaker 2: be going on with they life made the right with God.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Don't know how you feeling. They skipping through life. Now
- 7:19Speaker 2: you make adjustments every time you see them. And it
- 7:21Speaker 2: takes energy. Man, it takes so much energy to hate.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It takes so much energy not to forgive to Now
- 7:29Speaker 2: they come in the room. You got to avoid them.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Stay over here, Oh here they come. Now you got
- 7:34Speaker 2: to make a situation over here. They come into the house,
- 7:37Speaker 2: this family reunion. Oh oh, here they come. Or where
- 7:40Speaker 2: they gonna be in the basement. I'm going to be
- 7:41Speaker 2: on the third floor. I want to go out here
- 7:43Speaker 2: and get some barbecue. She out there at the barbecue staying,
- 7:45Speaker 2: Oh lord, I don't want a barbecue. I just eat
- 7:47Speaker 2: to take a salad. People man, take themselves all out
- 7:50Speaker 2: of position, trying to make adjustments, when if you it
- 7:54Speaker 2: would simplify your life, if.
- 7:57Speaker 5: You would let just let it go.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Maybe you ain't where you need to be because of them,
- 8:02Speaker 2: external forces altogether. Maybe you not where you need to
- 8:07Speaker 2: because of you, because you won't let it go, you
- 8:11Speaker 2: won't move forward. Look at this, ladies. Let's say you've
- 8:14Speaker 2: been in a situation with a man for years. It
- 8:19Speaker 2: didn't work out. For whatever the reason, it just didn't
- 8:21Speaker 2: work out. I got what you say he did. I
- 8:25Speaker 2: got what he did, I got he all of that, YadA,
- 8:28Speaker 2: YadA YadA. When you get through, did not God get
- 8:33Speaker 2: you through it? Did not he allow you to survive it.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I got you, got some cuts on you, I got
- 8:42Speaker 2: you been a little bit bruised. But did he not
- 8:45Speaker 2: get you through it? So, now that he's freed you
- 8:49Speaker 2: from it, now he done went on. He got a
- 8:50Speaker 2: whole nother family over there somewhere. Now, he trying to
- 8:54Speaker 2: make it right because maybe he learned the mistake he made,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and now he trying to be a better man. He
- 8:58Speaker 2: just trying to get it right now. But you sitting
- 9:01Speaker 2: there holding on to it, you drinking the poison, waiting
- 9:05Speaker 2: on your enemy to die. So now, instead of you
- 9:07Speaker 2: enjoying the blessing of finally being free from a situation
- 9:11Speaker 2: that was not healthy for you, you create an even
- 9:13Speaker 2: more unhealthy situation in your mind, by hating, by having
- 9:18Speaker 2: revengeful thoughts, by hoping he fall on his face. Maybe
- 9:23Speaker 2: you even doing something to the other situation to make
- 9:25Speaker 2: sure they struggle. Oh man, you drinking the poison, waiting
- 9:30Speaker 2: on your enemy to die. Maybe you ain't where you
- 9:33Speaker 2: ought to be in life, not because of your external forces,
- 9:36Speaker 2: but maybe it is you. If you don't let it go,
- 9:41Speaker 2: it's gonna be hard for you to go. You can't
- 9:44Speaker 2: keep driving your car looking in the rear view mirror.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Come on, man, Forgiveness is not for the other person.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Forgiveness is for you.
- 9:57Speaker 8: You're listening morning show.

- 10:29Speaker 2: I expect great things to happen. If you do that,
- 10:33Speaker 2: that gratitude will affect your attitude, which will have a
- 10:37Speaker 2: direct correlation to your altitude I'm playing it on Soaring

- 11:59Speaker 10: wife fix them in the that you couldn't figure out,
- 12:01Speaker 10: because that's all she talked about. Now, because I didn't
- 12:03Speaker 10: know how to turn the water on on the dish washing. Hell,

- 12:16Speaker 10: I married him because he can't even turn the water on.
- 12:19Speaker 4: The dish washing.
- 12:20Speaker 10: Now she said, I would try to run my bath water,
- 12:23Speaker 10: but he probably can't turn that on.
- 12:25Speaker 9: Whole list of stuff.
- 12:27Speaker 10: She running down on me to everybody because she turned
- 12:30Speaker 10: one valve on one valve.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Now she water expert in here.
- 12:34Speaker 10: I can't even get no bottle of water after fred
- 12:37Speaker 10: she's expert on that.

- 13:01Speaker 2: I can't say nothing to her, but you can get
- 13:04Speaker 2: a group of your friends and then don't let her
- 13:08Speaker 2: overhear this.
- 13:09Speaker 5: But stay to your friend.
- 13:10Speaker 2: She and there talking about I can't fix nothing now
- 13:13Speaker 2: she gonna do anything herself. But you know, I don't

- 13:22Speaker 11: Don't.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Can't let nobody hear.

- 15:01Speaker 6: this is my name is Joseph Work open student affairs.
- 15:04Speaker 6: How you doing today? I'm good? How are you? I'm good. Listen,
- 15:08Speaker 6: you're supposed to be. This is your fifth year here
- 15:12Speaker 6: at the university. You're graduating and in the next seven
- 15:16Speaker 6: eight days? Am I right? Yes?
- 15:17Speaker 13: There have you out of this joint.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Okay, listen, I'm giving you a call. We got a
- 15:23Speaker 6: bit of a problem here that we want to try
- 15:25Speaker 6: and discuss with you, and maybe we can get you
- 15:27Speaker 6: over at Student Affairs and come in and have a
- 15:29Speaker 6: meeting with us. But we wanted to bring it to
- 15:31Speaker 6: your attention. Now. You took a one of your last
- 15:35Speaker 6: subjects was English, uh, and you had an English exam
- 15:39Speaker 6: with a You guys are writing an essay. Am I am?
- 15:42Speaker 6: I am? I correct about that? Yeah?
- 15:45Speaker 14: Yeah, that's true.
- 15:46Speaker 6: Okay, it see that we got some problems here that
- 15:49Speaker 6: the professor there is actually insinuating that you may have
- 15:52Speaker 6: cheated on this, on this essay, that you've actually read
- 15:55Speaker 6: what cheated? No, I mean from what from what he's
- 16:00Speaker 6: telling us here at Student Affairs is that you may
- 16:03Speaker 6: have plagiarized some things that that we're in your essay.
- 16:07Speaker 15: Dude, No, I didn't. I didn't plagiarize nothing that was
- 16:10Speaker 15: in the essay. Everything is documented like it should be.
- 16:12Speaker 15: So I don't know what you're talking about, especially cheating
- 16:15Speaker 15: on no exam or no paper, nothing like that. You
- 16:17Speaker 15: must got be mixed up with somebody else.
- 16:18Speaker 6: No, no, no, not at all. You're actually mister Travan, correct.
- 16:22Speaker 15: I mean that's me, But I didn't cheat on no exam,
- 16:24Speaker 15: on no.
- 16:25Speaker 6: Papers for that matter. Okay, well, let me let me
- 16:27Speaker 6: try to bring you up to speed here, Travann. What
- 16:29Speaker 6: we're gonna need is, we're gonna need you to actually
- 16:31Speaker 6: come in and talk to us over here at student
- 16:34Speaker 6: affairs so we can try to get this thing rectified.
- 16:37Speaker 6: But I will let you know, it's gonna take a
- 16:39Speaker 6: few more days longer than graduation. So as of right now,
- 16:43Speaker 6: you're actually not gonna be walking and graduating with the
- 16:47Speaker 6: rest of the students.
- 16:48Speaker 13: Due.
- 16:49Speaker 15: Man, you got me messed up.
- 16:51Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 16:51Speaker 15: I'm not gonna be walking.
- 16:52Speaker 6: Well until we get this situation rectified here. You're not
- 16:56Speaker 6: gonna be graduating with the rest of the students now.
- 16:58Speaker 15: And I don't know what y'all gotta do, but y'all
- 17:01Speaker 15: need to figure it out and find out what the
- 17:02Speaker 15: problem is. Man, I ain't a cheat on no exams
- 17:05Speaker 15: you're talking about.
- 17:05Speaker 16: Dude.
- 17:05Speaker 13: My family is coming down here and you're talking about
- 17:08Speaker 13: seen it on an English exam. They'll I look like
- 17:10Speaker 13: she's on an.
- 17:10Speaker 15: Example and I'm getting ready to graduate.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Man.
- 17:13Speaker 15: Now, y'all need to fix it, like right now, like
- 17:14Speaker 15: today while we're.
- 17:15Speaker 14: On the phone.
- 17:16Speaker 17: We can't do that.
- 17:17Speaker 6: It's a little it's a sensitive subject and like I said,
- 17:19Speaker 6: it seems like it's plagiarism. You know, if we can
- 17:22Speaker 6: get you to actually come over to student affairs next Wednesday.
- 17:26Speaker 13: Man, you got me.
- 17:27Speaker 14: So what do you mean next Wednesday?
- 17:29Speaker 15: Dude?
- 17:29Speaker 13: I'm graduating in a few days. Since you're talking about
- 17:31Speaker 13: next wednesday. Man, why my professor didn't give me a call?
- 17:35Speaker 6: Why you calling me sir? This is not something that
- 17:38Speaker 6: professors actually take care of. This is a student affairs
- 17:40Speaker 6: situation now, and it's a very sensitive situation. And what
- 17:43Speaker 6: we want to do is try to get this thing
- 17:45Speaker 6: taken care of. And if you if what you're saying
- 17:47Speaker 6: is actually true, then you'll probably graduate in AUGUSTA.
- 17:53Speaker 13: Look at me, I'm telling you right now, this is
- 17:55Speaker 13: a you got me August. I'm graduating this semester, be
- 18:00Speaker 13: here too long to go through some my last few
- 18:02Speaker 13: weeks of school, and you talking about August.
- 18:09Speaker 6: N't even tell me you hear what you got to say?
- 18:10Speaker 17: Man, My family is coming down here from.
- 18:12Speaker 13: Everywhere to see me graduating. Man, I'm the first then
- 18:15Speaker 13: to graduate from my family. You're talking about some cheating

- 23:29Speaker 5: Yes, it's gonna be tough.
- 23:30Speaker 8: You married him though, you do this, you're right, you're right.

- 25:56Speaker 2: only one at the bachelor party.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Now, why you think they want you to do it?
- 26:02Speaker 5: Thank you?

- 34:55Speaker 12: with him. Yes, Genuine further poked fun at himself by
- 35:03Speaker 12: singing part of Donnie McClurkin's song We Fall Down. So,

- 52:33Speaker 2: So what I'm thinking is folks has kept because you know,
- 52:36Speaker 2: they know where they're gonna be. Yeah, because he announced
- 52:40Speaker 2: it on the radio.
- 52:41Speaker 8: Okay, I see where you going.
- 52:43Speaker 2: I think a few times Tommy then came off that stage,
- 52:50Speaker 2: and I don't think he been too Yeah, I think
- 52:52Speaker 2: he's been jumped on.
- 52:54Speaker 5: Yeah, you know this, Yeah, I think several times this happened.
- 52:58Speaker 8: Yeah, but Steve, he would have said something to us.
- 53:01Speaker 8: Don't you think you.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Want to?
- 53:08Speaker 5: He's too embarrassed, do you do you remember when Junior
- 53:11Speaker 5: beat him in that race?
- 53:13Speaker 2: Yeah, years ago, whips bought that whipping off.
- 53:21Speaker 1: No not, You're right, he don't do that every now
- 53:27Speaker 1: and then it pops up in my phone on the time.
- 53:32Speaker 4: Memories.
- 53:35Speaker 12: Wow, Okay, Steve, you might be onto something, all right,
- 53:38Speaker 12: Get get well soon, Tommy coming up next. Strawberry Letters

- 54:03Speaker 12: click submit Strawberry Letter. We could be reading your letter
- 54:06Speaker 12: live on the air, just like we're going to read
- 54:08Speaker 12: this one right here, right now, and you never know,
- 54:11Speaker 12: it could be yours, could be.
- 54:13Speaker 1: It could be yours. We don't know if it is
- 54:14Speaker 1: or not.
- 54:15Speaker 10: But ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the Strawberry Letter
- 54:17Speaker 10: with my good friend, Sharlie Strawberry.
- 54:19Speaker 12: Thank you, my good friend, Junior. Subject the bathroom in
- 54:23Speaker 12: the basement. Dear Stephen Shirley, after four years of marriage,
- 54:28Speaker 12: it looks like my husband has lost his mind. He's
- 54:31Speaker 12: been feeling himself lately, and I'm so happy for him
- 54:34Speaker 12: because he's achieved a lot.
- 54:36Speaker 8: In his short twenty nine years.
- 54:38Speaker 12: Buying me a home was high on his list, and
- 54:40Speaker 12: we just moved into a three level town home six
- 54:43Speaker 12: months ago. Our housewarming party was lit and we had
- 54:47Speaker 12: people partying on every floor. Since a party, He's fixed
- 54:51Speaker 12: up his bar in the basement and he put it.
- 54:54Speaker 12: He put in not one, but two huge TVs side
- 54:58Speaker 12: by side. It's a walk basement, so when he has
- 55:01Speaker 12: his boys over, they enter and exit down there. Sometimes
- 55:05Speaker 12: I don't see him all day on the weekends because
- 55:07Speaker 12: he even has a kitchenette down there. My nosy mother
- 55:10Speaker 12: came to visit and she wanted to go down to
- 55:13Speaker 12: bother my husband, and I.
- 55:14Speaker 8: Told her to leave him alone.
- 55:16Speaker 12: I explained to her that I text him if I
- 55:19Speaker 12: need something, but I normally don't bother him if he's
- 55:22Speaker 12: down there with his friends. She didn't like that, and
- 55:25Speaker 12: she said her intuition told her I needed to pop
- 55:29Speaker 12: up down there. Turns out my mother's gossipy friend told
- 55:33Speaker 12: her that this HAIRSTYLI is named Sandy was bragging about
- 55:36Speaker 12: getting drunk as heck at my house. I don't know
- 55:40Speaker 12: this woman, and she definitely was not at our housewarming party. Monday,
- 55:45Speaker 12: I came home early to let the housekeeper in, and
- 55:48Speaker 12: something told me to check the basement out.
- 55:51Speaker 8: I found a bar of used.
- 55:52Speaker 12: Dove soaps stuck back in the box and a travel
- 55:56Speaker 12: sized pack of feminine whites. I didn't buy those, and
- 55:59Speaker 12: I buy all of the toilet trees for this house.
- 56:02Speaker 12: I also said I also saw a few strands of
- 56:05Speaker 12: hair that looks like someone tried to flush down the toilet.
- 56:08Speaker 12: My housekeeper says there's been evidence before that a woman
- 56:11Speaker 12: had been in that bathroom. Do I confront my husband
- 56:15Speaker 12: or pop up on him one night? Well, ma'am, popping
- 56:20Speaker 12: up and confronting him both sound good to me if
- 56:23Speaker 12: both of them work, all right? But why are you
- 56:27Speaker 12: asking Steve and I this. That's the issue. He's your husband,
- 56:31Speaker 12: and it's your house basement at all. It's your house too.
- 56:35Speaker 12: Why have you waited so long to find out what's
- 56:37Speaker 12: going on. I mean, your mom was right, and the
- 56:40Speaker 12: housekeeper confirmed it. I'm just surprised you haven't gone down
- 56:44Speaker 12: there before. Now you went days on the weekends without
- 56:49Speaker 12: seeing him. I mean, how why, Yes, your husband is
- 56:53Speaker 12: all the way wrong, but you never went down there
- 56:55Speaker 12: to check on him.
- 56:56Speaker 8: To see what was what all was going on? Your husband,
- 56:59Speaker 8: really he has some nerve.
- 57:01Speaker 12: I mean, this is bold of him to entertain ladies
- 57:04Speaker 12: right in his own home, really bold, really stupid on
- 57:07Speaker 12: his part too. And the women they have to know
- 57:10Speaker 12: you guys are married and they're at another woman's house.
- 57:13Speaker 12: They're risking their lives being there, but they probably know
- 57:17Speaker 12: that you never go down there, so you know, hey,
- 57:20Speaker 12: we'll just go and hang out or do whatever. They're
- 57:24Speaker 12: acting as if you don't exist, and so are you.
- 57:27Speaker 12: I just I don't know how you could go all
- 57:30Speaker 12: that time and not go see about what's happening down there.
- 57:33Speaker 12: I mean, you guys are just living two separate lives.
- 57:36Speaker 12: You're upstairs, he's downstairs in his basement. I can't wait
- 57:40Speaker 12: to see what happens when you do confront him and
- 57:43Speaker 12: or pop up on him and his shenanigans.
- 57:46Speaker 8: That's when the real truth is going to be told,
- 57:48Speaker 8: so let us know what happened.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Okay, Steve, this letter is stupid. Yeah, this letter is
- 57:58Speaker 2: I don't I don't even I don't. I don't understand
- 58:02Speaker 2: the arrangement at all. Nothing in this letter makes sense
- 58:09Speaker 2: to me. Look, I have a man cave. I've suggested
- 58:15Speaker 2: to everybody that a man who goes to work that's
- 58:18Speaker 2: married should have an area, a place like I know
- 58:22Speaker 2: a god that's got a smaller home, right, And he said, Man,
- 58:25Speaker 2: I don't have no whole room.
- 58:27Speaker 9: I can have a man cave in.
- 58:29Speaker 2: He said, But we got a den. He said, I
- 58:32Speaker 2: like to play my video games on my computer. I said, okay,
- 58:36Speaker 2: then make that the restricted area. But in a house,
- 58:41Speaker 2: a man has to have something that belongs to him
- 58:45Speaker 2: because the rest of the house is gonna be for
- 58:47Speaker 2: the woman. But he's got to have something that's his.
- 58:51Speaker 2: So he has this elaborate man cave with two big
- 58:56Speaker 2: screen TVs in it. He has an interest in the
- 58:59Speaker 2: bay entrant. It's in the basement, so but nobody has
- 59:02Speaker 2: to come through the house and he down there all
- 59:05Speaker 2: weekend with his friends.
- 59:07Speaker 5: He had work. You let him have that.
- 59:09Speaker 2: That's y'all's arrangement, the fact that if you want something,
- 59:13Speaker 2: you text him so you can communicate with your husband.
- 59:20Speaker 2: This is whether the letter starts to lose his stem.
- 59:24Speaker 2: The next part, you've never been down.
- 59:27Speaker 5: There, get it ever.
- 59:32Speaker 2: In your house, and you obviously are feeling some kind
- 59:38Speaker 2: of way about down there because you're asking me, is
- 59:41Speaker 2: Shirley whether you should go down there, pop in or
- 59:44Speaker 2: confront your husband about it? Why is it confronting? I
- 59:50Speaker 2: don't understand that. Why if you go down in that house,
- 59:54Speaker 2: is it popping in? I don't I don't stand this.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: I don't know what to say to you. I'm gonna
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: say the same thing to you when we come back now.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna use words, so don't nobody email me. I'm
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: gonna use words like stup. I'm gonna probably use a
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: word like I just don't know.
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: I don't know. This letter don't make no sense to
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: me because everything is so obvious.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Hang on, I try.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:32Speaker 12: We'll have part two of your response coming up at
- 1:00:34Speaker 12: twenty three minutes after the hour. Today's Strawberry letter subject
- 1:00:38Speaker 12: the bathroom and the basement.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: We'll get back into it right after this. You're listening
- 1:00:45Speaker 8: Morning show, all right, Come on Steve Let's.
- 1:00:48Speaker 12: Recap today's Strawberry Letter. The subject is the bathroom in
- 1:00:52Speaker 12: the basement.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: The bathroom in the basement ain't the problem. It's the
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: damn basement that you feel uncomfortable going to, that you
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: don't want to pop into, that your husband uses as
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: a man came, which is perfectly fine. I think every
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: man should have a place in the house that's uniquely
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: for him. Not saying nobody else can't come there. I
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: got a cigar spot in my house, but Marjorie's welcome there.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: I can't don't come over here. What I don't even
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: understand this. So now you your mother came over and
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: said she going down there, you said not to. She'd
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: have went down there anyway, because she knows well what
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: he doing down there where you can't go. Now, she'd
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: have found some evidence of a woman being down there,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: or anyway, the housekeeper found some evidence.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: I don't know. It don't make no sense. I didn't
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: even care when somebody found something that you had.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: The wife did found use feminine product, some haw that
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: ain't yours, and there's some other evidence to let you
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: know a woman has been over there. Now, the housekeeper
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: said that y'all got housekeeper too, y'all twenty nine, y'all deep,
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: she's found stuff before.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: So now you're assuming that this man is.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Having company, and you want to know from me and
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Shirley should you pop up down there? Or should you
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: confront him? I don't know how either one of him
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: is a question, right, because to confront him about what? Who?
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: In your house? I can't. I just can't do this.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: So let me state the things that I want to
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: say right quick. This is your house.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: You ain't confronting nobody about nothing, and you ain't popping
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: in it's your house. Next statement, I want to know,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: is he this stupid? Is this man this stupid? How
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: assured is he that you will never come down there?
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: How?
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: How is this possible? What have you all said that
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: made him think he can get away with this? And
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: then the last thing I want to say is I've
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: never been that comfortable ever. But you know what you
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: all these letters we get about a woman coming home
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: and a man got another woman in the bed and
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: all like that. I mean, look, man, it's just like
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: if you gonna cheat, there are some rules of decency
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: in your house.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: In your wife's house, in your wife's bed. Dog, how
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: you gonna work that out in your mind?
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: It's just about some decency, man, It's about respect, it's
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: about what y'all built, It's about a lot of stuff.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: But man, look at him. Is he this stupid? And
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: then I have to ask you, are you this stupid?
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Because it's not about confront dog. I be eating dinner
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: and all of a sudden that stuff would be on
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: the saucer in front of me.
- 1:04:23Speaker 15: What is this?
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: The hair would be on the saucer, the wrapper from
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: the feminine product beyond the saucer, the back of the
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: ear ring holder would be on the saucer.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: What is this right here?
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: The soap box that.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: Does What are you doing?
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: Why hasn't she gone down there?
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: What did he tell you that makes you text him?
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: Are you scared of him?
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: It sounds like it a little bit or something.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: I just don't know how this letter is.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: When you was typing this, you didn't see none of
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: this in it, and then come talking about my nosy mother.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I want to go down I don't see him all
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: day on weekends because he even got a kitchen net
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: down there, So you.
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: Don't see my husband all day on the weekend.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: What I know and what time they coming in?
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: Down there?
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: You're going, don't I text him? But I don't bother him.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: No if he down there with his friend, because I'll
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: be going down there.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: What y'all doing?
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: What's going on down here?
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: Where you at? Hey? Fellas?
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: Y Yeah?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Something?
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: Yeah, baby, you're good. Just came down to give you
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: a kiss. Let you know.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: I'm finn go out shopping, going out with the girls,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: telling y'all need thing? Everybody enjoying yourself?
- 1:05:53Speaker 17: Right?
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: Who car blocking the driveway? What I can't call?
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: I've asked you not to roll up on the grass, sweetie,
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: all of it? Baby, while I'm gone, Caddy's gone at
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: y'all something.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: Yes, yes, go see.
- 1:06:12Speaker 12: It's like she's afraid to go down there, like she's
- 1:06:15Speaker 12: afraid of him. She's afraid to go down there.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I need you to go to the PoCA. Some of
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: these kids, I mean, I want to say.
- 1:06:26Speaker 8: I don't. How do you not see your husband all day?
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: On the bus coming upstairs? I smell it?
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: Yeah right right right, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a puzzle.
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: It's a puzzle, y'all.

- 1:08:19Speaker 9: The Lake show Man is up three to one over
- 1:08:22Speaker 9: the Warriors.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: But you know, man, Golden State has been champs so
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: many times out of the past few years. Playing at
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: this level requires so much energy. I think this is
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: the year that it may have caught up with them,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: and all of a sudden, the Lakers are jailing at
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: the right time because they got some support now with
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Lebron and a d I've been watching Reeves, I've been
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: watching the little boy with the patch in his hair.

- 1:08:57Speaker 2: They've just been coming alive. I'm gonna tell you right now,
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: if the Lakers get past these boys right here, oh man,
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: it's gonna be a problem because.
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: Then they're gonna have to face the one out of
- 1:09:10Speaker 9: Denver in Phoenix.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: And man, what's that serious?
- 1:09:15Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:09:15Speaker 9: They too too?
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: Uh? They played the night.

- 1:09:38Speaker 9: he got his own money.

- 1:09:56Speaker 12: on social media needs some advice, he says, My homies
- 1:09:59Speaker 12: bride wants editorial control of my best man's reception toast.
- 1:10:04Speaker 8: We'll talk about it right after this. You're listening.
- 1:10:08Speaker 12: Morning show, So stee, this is from Dominique or Dominic,
- 1:10:15Speaker 12: I should say. On Steve Harvey FM, Dominic writes, I've
- 1:10:18Speaker 12: been asked to be the best man at the wedding
- 1:10:20Speaker 12: of my best friend, but I've since learned that there's
- 1:10:23Speaker 12: a catch. It seems that behind the scenes, my boy's
- 1:10:26Speaker 12: bride to be has been expressing concerns about my sense
- 1:10:29Speaker 12: of humor and is now quote demanding editorial control of
- 1:10:34Speaker 12: my reception toast. To be honest, I don't even know
- 1:10:38Speaker 12: what to say at one of these things and haven't
- 1:10:41Speaker 12: planned anything out. I do my best work when I
- 1:10:44Speaker 12: wing it. That said, it's better. Is it better to
- 1:10:49Speaker 12: just play ball and write something corny or just go
- 1:10:52Speaker 12: for it in the moment?
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: What do you think playball to write some corny dog?
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Don't mess up this girl's wind. Time for you to shine.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: This ain't your damn moment. You can go to open
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: mic and try all this out you want. They got
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: a place for your foolaghes. And you ain't at your
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: best when you wing it. You ain't even never done
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: a speech like this. Your ass fit to wing what
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: you just said. This ain't what you do. Now you
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: gonna be at your best when you wing it? For
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: what experience do you have at winging it? You're winging
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: it has produced the bride to go what is this
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: fool goes?
- 1:11:34Speaker 8: Yeah, he didn't see.
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: They've had enough of your winging it.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: Hey man, write something that's legitimate that puts him and
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: her in a good light. Make sure you mention how
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: lucky he is to have found a woman like this,
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: and you hope to one day find the same thing
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: in your life. And man, your boy's so fortunate because
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: and then you can do one joke.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: One man nobody would put up with him.
- 1:12:08Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, all right, here's another one, Steve. This from Victoria.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Yeah he is.
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: This is from Victoria on Facebook.
- 1:12:22Speaker 12: Victoria says, my boyfriend and I have been together for
- 1:12:25Speaker 12: three years and lived together for the last year. He's
- 1:12:28Speaker 12: a capable person who is successful at his job, but
- 1:12:31Speaker 12: when it comes to our household, he's like a child,
- 1:12:33Speaker 12: and I'm increasingly feeling like I'm his mom. He'll do
- 1:12:37Speaker 12: things around the house when I specifically ask him to
- 1:12:40Speaker 12: do it, over and over again, and he doesn't take
- 1:12:43Speaker 12: any initiative. Having to sit down and have a serious
- 1:12:45Speaker 12: conversation about him doing more around here is going to
- 1:12:50Speaker 12: help me not feel like I'm his mom? So how
- 1:12:53Speaker 12: can I get him to understand this problem without having
- 1:12:56Speaker 12: to treat him like a child.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Well, we can't help you, mm because you've told us
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: nothing in this letter. I don't even know what you're
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: talking about. You is it household chores?
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: Is it?
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Is it fixing up the house. You know, is it
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: participating in the bill payment?
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: What are you talking?
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: You gave me nothing. I don't have any specifics to
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: even tell you how to address that. I want to
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: help you, but I don't know what to tell you.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, no, that ain't what the letters say.
- 1:13:33Speaker 12: Yeah, but she said he'll do things around the house
- 1:13:36Speaker 12: when I specifically ask him to do it over and
- 1:13:38Speaker 12: over again, just to do stuff help her around the house.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Yeah, moto grass whatever.
- 1:13:51Speaker 8: Yeah, take the garbage.
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: I need specific.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean. Just keep my track
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: record going. As Uncle Steve gave out some good advice.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: That ain't what I've done on huh huh. I want
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: to take the trash out. No, I don't even know
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: where the trash.
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: Do you know?
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: I've never seen trash can hit. I ain't never seen
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: trash can.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: When you need to throw something away, what's happening?
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: Somebody gonna get it? Let me tell you something. Why
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: is I'm throwing someone?
- 1:14:26Speaker 8: What is all around here? All these people?
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: No?
- 1:14:30Speaker 15: No, no, no.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: When I'm done with it, I set it down somewhere
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: and when I'm coming back and usually gone, I'll be going.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: Whoa this letter?
- 1:14:38Speaker 8: This letter is about you right here.
- 1:14:40Speaker 9: I ain't never been to a trash can in your house, you.
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: Know, Junior.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: I don't know where the trash can is at. I
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: ain't never see anybody putting the trash out.
- 1:14:49Speaker 12: In twenty minutes, we'll have more of the steam Harvey
- 1:14:52Speaker 12: Morning Show right after this.
- 1:14:54Speaker 8: You're listening Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:14:59Speaker 12: Well, Lee is graduation season and Oprah graduated from historically
- 1:15:04Speaker 12: black Tennessee State University and Back in nineteen eighty six
- 1:15:08Speaker 12: with a degree in Communication and Performing Arts. On May six,
- 1:15:12Speaker 12: twenty twenty three, Oprah returned to give a commencement address
- 1:15:16Speaker 12: at the Nashville based Institution of Higher Education. According to
- 1:15:20Speaker 12: Forbes magazine, Oprah came ready to navigate, ready to motivate
- 1:15:25Speaker 12: graduates to be steadfast and.
- 1:15:27Speaker 8: Who they are and in their purpose.
- 1:15:29Speaker 12: She exclaimed, quote, do not let the world make an
- 1:15:32Speaker 12: imposter syndrome out of you, referring to the idea that
- 1:15:36Speaker 12: we aren't deserving of our achievements or don't belong. She
- 1:15:40Speaker 12: urged graduates to listen to the small voice they have
- 1:15:43Speaker 12: inside to find the truth about how they should lead
- 1:15:46Speaker 12: their lives. Oprah also said the United States of America
- 1:15:50Speaker 12: may not be united, but with hope. She exclaimed, we
- 1:15:53Speaker 12: are not a finished product.
- 1:15:56Speaker 8: So there you go. That was part of her commencement address. Yeah, yep, lady, Oh.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Any advice for the graduates, Steve.
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: See mine?
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: I mean that little voice she's talking about. It's more
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: important than people realize. I am an I'm a proponent
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: of your imagination and your dreams. I say, chase them.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: I don't care what your degree is. In your degree
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: is not gonna make you.
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: You made it. It will not make you.
- 1:16:34Speaker 8: Thank you, Oprah, Thank you.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: Steve.
- 1:16:36Speaker 12: Coming up at thirty three minutes after the hour, we'll
- 1:16:38Speaker 12: play another round of would you rather? Right after this
- 1:16:42Speaker 12: you're listening.
- 1:16:44Speaker 8: Morning show?
- 1:16:45Speaker 12: All right, guys, it is time for another round of
- 1:16:47Speaker 12: would you rather? All right, so, would you rather spend
- 1:16:51Speaker 12: a month tent camping in a jungle? Or would you
- 1:16:55Speaker 12: rather spend a month tent camping in a forest? So
- 1:16:59Speaker 12: we're talking about a jungle or tin camping in a forest.
- 1:17:02Speaker 12: Those are your options.
- 1:17:04Speaker 5: I'm gonna tin camp in that forest.
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: Yeah, in the forest.
- 1:17:09Speaker 8: Why did you choose? Why not the jungle?
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: That too much in that damn jungle. It's too much,
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: too much in that damn jungle.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: Flores, jaga, jungle paws in the snakes, got the colors
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: on them look pretty.
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: Charantless. Now I'm gonna get in this forest wild boys
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: and bads. We're dealing with that. But we got some stuff,
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: all right.
- 1:17:49Speaker 12: Would you rather explore an abandoned building? Explore an abandoned building,
- 1:17:53Speaker 12: or would you rather ride a roller coaster in the dark?
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: I do be roller coaster in the dark.
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: I did that Disney It was dark, I say, being building.
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: Yeah, that would be in that damn building.
- 1:18:20Speaker 8: You wouldn't be scared. Okay, you don't be.
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: Scared, But I ain't gonna be as scared as I
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: am on that day roller coaster.
- 1:18:28Speaker 8: But you don't really like roller coasters anyway, Right, I don't.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: Understand fear and fun in the same sentence. It don't
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: make no sense.
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: For what.
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:18:41Speaker 12: Would you rather lose the ability to read or lose
- 1:18:44Speaker 12: the ability to hear music?
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: Like reading?
- 1:18:48Speaker 18: Anyway?
- 1:18:48Speaker 10: So I ain't really high on that list anyway. I'm
- 1:18:53Speaker 10: struggling now at forty four reading.
- 1:18:55Speaker 15: I know that.
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: I don't know. I know, I really want to.
- 1:19:00Speaker 8: Put that out there. Okay, well, that's fine.
- 1:19:04Speaker 10: I still pay my bills I'm good, but I can't
- 1:19:13Speaker 10: hit my jay. I can't hear Jonesy no more. Oh okay,
- 1:19:19Speaker 10: I can't hear no more.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Work I'll go, y'all wouldn't even know how to deal
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: with music, because I mean, I got I got a
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: hum something.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: All right, life, But I'm reading, I'm doing good.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: I got I got a friend here.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: I just I just hit it.
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: Hem you figured this out.
- 1:19:47Speaker 8: That's today's rounding. Would you rather?
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:19:50Speaker 8: Coming up in forty nine minutes after the hour, we.
- 1:19:52Speaker 12: Will close out the show, and it's our last break
- 1:19:55Speaker 12: of the day. Right after this, you're listening morning all right, guys.
- 1:20:01Speaker 12: Here we are our last break of the day. M hm, tommy,
- 1:20:06Speaker 12: anybody heard? I guess he'll be back tomorrow.
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: No, I don't know.
- 1:20:10Speaker 8: You know, we'll just wait and see what we used
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: to do.
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: You know, he's ready for love, but he you ready
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: to go to work though.
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: All right, you're going to tell you one't coming another.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: Yeah, y'all know what's happening to y'all.
- 1:20:25Speaker 8: But that's what he used to do. Though I thought
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: he had stopped that, still do it?
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: Oh, he still do it? He refers back.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: He can't, he has not changed, he can't make it.
- 1:20:43Speaker 12: He's doing all right though, I mean, you know, in
- 1:20:46Speaker 12: spite of everything. But we'll just wait and see if
- 1:20:50Speaker 12: he'll be here tomorrow.
- 1:20:51Speaker 8: We'll wait and see. Okay, if you want to say huh.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: No, let me talk to these graduates. This is not
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: a graduate speech. I would be more elaborate, but I
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: want to remind people of something. As you journey through life, man,
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: you only get one time around. There are no doovers.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: You may do something twice, but it's not a do over.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: You just in a new space and a new time
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: doing something at a different way. Like if you flunk
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: out of college and then you go back to college
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: later on, that's not a do over.
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: You don't get that time back. It's what I'm saying.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: There all no doovers in life is move on, correct
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: your mistakes and learn from them, and that's how you roll.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: But if I was a young person coming out of college,
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: if I would have really understood it when I flunked
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: out of college, but if I really understood it, I would.
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: Have never went.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: But I needed that experience because college did teach me
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: many things. First of all, it gave me some friendships
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: that I've had folk forty nine years now. From nineteen
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: seventy four to here has been forty nine years. I've
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: got some friends, man, that i'll be with later this month,
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: God will it. And we've been friends for forty nine years.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: One of my friends that will come too of them.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, we've been friends sixty two years.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: So college for me was not a waste. I gained
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: some friendships in that place, man, But the most the
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: best thing about college for me was I learned the system.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: So I came from an all black junior high, all
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: black high school, all black elementary, and to go to
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: school with whites was what I needed because I needed
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: to learn the inside way of how they thought. I
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: was very familiar with them because they were all over
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: your TVs and everything, but I knew who they were.
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: But I really had to get up close to them
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: to really really understand. And what I learned was life
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: changing for me because I really understood how deep seated
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: racism was and I got a real up close glimpse
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: of what racism looks like in person, and it taught
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: me how to cope with it and deal with it
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: even better.
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: And I'm still coping and dealing with it.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: But so I can't say college was a wasted experience
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: because it gave me so much valuable information. You know
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: what they say, failure is a wonderful teacher. It's a
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: wonderful teacher. But if I would have come out of
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: college with the new as I've watched many of my
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: friends do that, chase that degree instead of chasing their dreams,
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: I'm awful glad that I chase my dreams. Now, your
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: dream may be to be a doctor, a lawyer, or
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: a teacher or a nurse, and that's absolutely one hundred
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: percent fine. I'm just talking about my dream, because my
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: dream I'm living in, and I'm not talking about the
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: dream of being a star for you. I'm just talking
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: about following your dreams, whatever that is. Like I said,
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: if that's to be a fireman, go be a fireman man.
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: If your dream is to be a business owner, go
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: do that. If your dream is to own a daycare,
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: by all means, go do that. If your dream is
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: to become a nurse practitioner, go do that. Whatever your
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: dream is, chase it because you ain't gonna be happy
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: watching it go by. Bishop Jake said one time, I
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: would hate to die and never do the thing I
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: was born to do. Young people, chase your dreams. There's
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: a song that was on America's Got Talent One time.
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: This girl had a line in the song that says,
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: don't quit your daydreams your life that you're making. Don't
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: quit your daydream. It's your life that you're making. And
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: so many people think, man, that it's such a dangerous thing.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: Don't quit your day job. You hear people say that
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: all the time. Hey, don't quit your day job. Mess
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: around with that little thing you got on at night.
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: But if that thing you do at night is your dream,
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: like that girl said in that song, don't quit your daydream.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: It's your life that you're making. That's my suggestion to
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: college graduates because a lot of people don't understand what
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: a degree is. People think that a degree makes you it.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: Don't you make the degree. The degree is nothing until
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: your it. The degree is nothing. You got to put
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: the hours in, you got to go to class, you
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: got to get the right grades. Then they give you
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: a degree and then you hang it on the wall.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: It's just a piece of paper. Man, Your degree don't
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: make you. You make the degree so don't quit your
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: daydream because you show life that you make it and
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: that's real. Y'all have a great day. Man, Hey, y'all
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: talk to God. He would absolutely love to hear from you.
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: Peace for all.
