- 1:49Speaker 1: Jilly Moore. Hello, Hello, thank you for having me. Thank
- 1:53Speaker 1: you so much for having me. How about used to
- 1:54Speaker 1: Anna start boring and raised in Houston? Okay, we're part
- 1:57Speaker 1: of Houston. Are you living in right now? All you
- 1:59Speaker 1: in your lady? Well? Okay, so I am. Actually I
- 2:01Speaker 1: currently live in Los Angeles, California. Yes, okay, let's do
- 2:10Speaker 1: it right now. You know I know about Partare Okay, great,
- 2:16Speaker 1: that's part of Houston, one of the fascist growing subdivisions.
- 2:20Speaker 1: All of Smith City is in the Houston market. That's
- 2:22Speaker 1: what she's said. Okay, but she's balling it in Los Angeles.
- 2:26Speaker 1: That's where the career moves have happened. It's not happening
- 2:28Speaker 1: in Houston. I'm not living in Houston. I live in Houston,
- 2:31Speaker 1: got a home there, but I live in Atlanta. I've
- 2:34Speaker 1: lived in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles. Now, where do
- 2:38Speaker 1: you live in the area? Don't want no stalkers to
- 2:41Speaker 1: find out about you? What area Los Angeles? You've residing in? Jila, Glendale? Okay,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I'm not there right now. I actually just got back. Um.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I always come for the games here in Houston. But
- 2:55Speaker 1: now we staid we weren't going you blew it already
- 2:58Speaker 1: I said this interview, we weren't going to say nothing
- 3:00Speaker 1: about that quarterback bar in friend of you, but at
- 3:03Speaker 1: your mouth. I always come back for the game. What
- 3:05Speaker 1: are you gonna do it like that? Just about you?
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm letting you know the only reason why my dad
- 3:10Speaker 1: keeps tapping up in the background is because I had
- 3:11Speaker 1: business to handle with my book today. So I'm at
- 3:13Speaker 1: my parents house right now. So it's a whole life,
- 3:16Speaker 1: a whole life. So I'm explaining to you why I'm
- 3:19Speaker 1: not currently in Glendale, California. Okay, Now, it's been a
- 3:23Speaker 1: big shutdown. You know, the COVID hit everybody, and uh
- 3:26Speaker 1: and so how did that? How has that affected you?
- 3:28Speaker 1: Because you know, the social media YouTube describers, you are
- 3:33Speaker 1: obviously a lot a lot of live productions you're participating in,
- 3:37Speaker 1: but they all went away? How did that impact you?
- 3:39Speaker 1: You know? But the grist of God, I think, um,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it kind of motivated me. I don't think it impacted me, um,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you know, as much as it did impact some people.
- 3:47Speaker 1: But of course some projects were put on a little
- 3:50Speaker 1: bit more of a slow or backburner, but it it
- 3:54Speaker 1: gave room for other projects to grow and expand. So honestly,
- 3:58Speaker 1: in the midst of it, COVID was using in disguise
- 4:00Speaker 1: for me. I got to spend a lot more undivided
- 4:04Speaker 1: time with my family and my loved ones, and I
- 4:07Speaker 1: became an author. During treated me pretty well and that's
- 4:11Speaker 1: kind of you know, I couldn't say the same thing
- 4:13Speaker 1: when it when it hit in March. I'm just telling you, Jilly,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and I didn't know how to react to it. You know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: they're talking about because nobody knew about COVID ninteen and
- 4:22Speaker 1: I don't think anybody still knows about it. The fact
- 4:24Speaker 1: that they have a vaccine comming, we're all happy about that.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I got wrong with the home depot the first time
- 4:29Speaker 1: I went out. I had my gloves, I had my
- 4:31Speaker 1: peril I didn't even have a mask at the time.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I had like a ski mask, I kind of like
- 4:35Speaker 1: pool and so I came out of Home Deepot. I
- 4:39Speaker 1: didn't know if I should touch the door. I didn't
- 4:41Speaker 1: know when to put the hands out. It was really
- 4:43Speaker 1: was a confusing time for me. How did you How
- 4:45Speaker 1: did it play out for you? Are Are you comfortable
- 4:47Speaker 1: now that you've develop a line of how you can
- 4:50Speaker 1: participate in everyday life? How did that lay out for you, Jilly?
- 4:53Speaker 1: I mean, I've always been kind of like a germaphobe
- 4:56Speaker 1: and a grum freak, so that kind of really only enhanced.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean, at the end of the day, you have
- 5:01Speaker 1: to you can't just be afraid of life. You can't
- 5:03Speaker 1: be afraid of living, you know. I know at one
- 5:05Speaker 1: point traveling was really really scary, you know, going on
- 5:08Speaker 1: planes and especially being in a tube where you can't
- 5:11Speaker 1: just let the window down or anything. But I mean,
- 5:13Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you can't just be
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know, scared. You can't let COVID completely just stop you.
- 5:17Speaker 1: You just can't. But I mean, don't get me wrong,
- 5:19Speaker 1: my precautions are on a whole another level. I am
- 5:22Speaker 1: definitely I have probably with forehand sanitizers in my purse
- 5:25Speaker 1: right now, I have, I carry my mask. I have
- 5:28Speaker 1: two masks in my purse, two in the car. You
- 5:31Speaker 1: won't catch me like without it. You know, that's just
- 5:33Speaker 1: first and foremost really because I just I went to
- 5:37Speaker 1: l A a week ago, my first time officially flying
- 5:41Speaker 1: since the COVID COVID Oh yeah, and so you know,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you know, so, so I got on the plane. You know,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I have a man I like, I like like four
- 5:48Speaker 1: disposable masks. I had a mask when I went through
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, T s A. Then I had a mask
- 5:54Speaker 1: I used on the plane through those away when I
- 5:56Speaker 1: landed right and then I had my other disposable man
- 6:00Speaker 1: with that bad ball out. So I went around the
- 6:01Speaker 1: l A all day. I was in and out in
- 6:03Speaker 1: l A. And then I got back on the plane,
- 6:05Speaker 1: put my travel mask on through that bad boy away
- 6:08Speaker 1: because I like, say just sorry, you know, and I
- 6:11Speaker 1: will tell you this is that I was very comfortable
- 6:13Speaker 1: with just telling everybody to know there's a big crisis
- 6:15Speaker 1: right now, telling people not to travel, not to travel,
- 6:17Speaker 1: not to travel. But I do believe, and I have
- 6:20Speaker 1: to say this that we have to learn to live
- 6:22Speaker 1: with this crisis and we can't shut down our life,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you know. Of course, being precaution, like even when I
- 6:27Speaker 1: am on the plane, I for sure I take a
- 6:29Speaker 1: few of my wifes, my sanitizer wives. I wipe down
- 6:32Speaker 1: I'm not playing. I wipe down the armrests, a little
- 6:35Speaker 1: button to recline the thing. I wipe down the front
- 6:38Speaker 1: just in case somebody had like sneeze on the TV
- 6:40Speaker 1: or whatever. I wipe that down. I wipe down a
- 6:42Speaker 1: little window sides where you pull it up and down.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'm not playing. So I'm definitely, like I said, precaution
- 6:46Speaker 1: is a little bit more there. But I'm not like
- 6:50Speaker 1: there's just different thing about you, Jilly. You come you
- 6:52Speaker 1: have a sense of person of personality a sitcoms in
- 6:56Speaker 1: your future because I see the word active see drums,
- 6:58Speaker 1: because you're funning. Now you you have a you have
- 7:00Speaker 1: a sister person. You have a personality that that that
- 7:02Speaker 1: pops off the screen because okay and hard hit him
- 7:06Speaker 1: up for me Now, I'm just kidding because you have
- 7:08Speaker 1: an edge, which which is a good age because when
- 7:11Speaker 1: you're talking you can be serious when they come across
- 7:14Speaker 1: as humorous. Because when we're talking about wife out if
- 7:16Speaker 1: they're the button side button, the look, the look TV
- 7:19Speaker 1: in front of you and all that to what is
- 7:21Speaker 1: the acting? What is the acting plan for you? You know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: um and acting? I think right now, especially with COVID,
- 7:28Speaker 1: a lot of things kind of not only got pushed back,
- 7:31Speaker 1: but you have to realize with acting it's a lot
- 7:32Speaker 1: of physical contact. It's a lot of you know, like
- 7:35Speaker 1: in your face. And that's one thing that prior to
- 7:38Speaker 1: all of this, I was really comfortable with if I
- 7:40Speaker 1: had to do like a scene of any sort of
- 7:43Speaker 1: play that boyfriend girlfriend role I was very comfortable with.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Now I'm not so sure. So like you know, my
- 7:48Speaker 1: music pushing that, this cook pushing that I don't know
- 7:52Speaker 1: if I want to be love you dov in the
- 7:53Speaker 1: scene right now with somebody, because I don't know who's
- 7:56Speaker 1: going on. That's right there, funny, see right there, you
- 7:59Speaker 1: are fun You're crazy girl, You're funny. So let's go
- 8:02Speaker 1: over to the cookbooks. You know, there was something that
- 8:04Speaker 1: popped out in COVID twenty and you don't have plans
- 8:06Speaker 1: on cooking the cook ding a cookbook and t but
- 8:09Speaker 1: your time on your hand. Now, I'm the first, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 1: because people always look at me. I'm I'm an award
- 8:14Speaker 1: winning baker and everybody people look at me. You you baker?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Shall you can bay? They always questioned me. They always
- 8:20Speaker 1: questioned whether or not I can bake? Okay? And if
- 8:22Speaker 1: I think it's just go to my social media. You know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: I have to tell my story. I get you hungry
- 8:28Speaker 1: when you go to my social media. Now me a
- 8:30Speaker 1: little miss fitness guru, little miss six pack, little miss
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know do it busy mill, little miss YouTube subscriber,
- 8:39Speaker 1: little miss social media influencer. Then you're gonna drop a
- 8:42Speaker 1: look book cook book. Let's just stick with the cook
- 8:45Speaker 1: book cause you got the look book part time. There
- 8:47Speaker 1: ain't nobody gonna argue about that the look book you got.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Let's go over to the cookbook side. Talk to me now, Jilly,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you'm a girl, so with the cookbook. I mean, cook
- 8:59Speaker 1: is really just always been in my family. I am
- 9:02Speaker 1: of Creole descent. My all my families from Louisiana. My brother,
- 9:08Speaker 1: me and my mom are the only ones who are
- 9:10Speaker 1: actually originally from Houston born raise. But um, I mean
- 9:14Speaker 1: it's always been my family growing up. For the holidays,
- 9:17Speaker 1: we had more food than people. We literally had tripled
- 9:20Speaker 1: the amount of food. My grandmother was always in the
- 9:23Speaker 1: kitchen as well as my mom. Even with my dad,
- 9:25Speaker 1: my dad has his fair share, but he's really a baker.
- 9:28Speaker 1: My dad is a fire baker. But he's even got
- 9:30Speaker 1: into really like you, like you, um, but he's got
- 9:34Speaker 1: into like his oxtails and you know, just making different stuff.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And so I just grew up in a family of
- 9:39Speaker 1: chefs and you know, really home chefs, and um. Over quarantine,
- 9:46Speaker 1: I would cook a lot, like cook a lot and quarantine,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I did I gained I've lost. I actually did not
- 9:54Speaker 1: gain away in quarantine. No, I think too is just like,
- 10:00Speaker 1: of course a mixture of working out and then I
- 10:02Speaker 1: even though like these meals. I think it's all in
- 10:05Speaker 1: proportion of what you eat as well. So I can
- 10:08Speaker 1: eat all this stuff. But granted I'm not eating like
- 10:11Speaker 1: three refilled plates, you know, but I mean at the
- 10:15Speaker 1: beginning of quite exactly, I'm not. But at the beginning
- 10:18Speaker 1: of quarantine, Um, I just started cooking and like playing
- 10:21Speaker 1: with food. I would make boot and stuff chicken, I
- 10:23Speaker 1: would make um, shrimp, ravioli, just stuff that was just stuff. Right, Boot,
- 10:30Speaker 1: you're gonna give me mad either. You're gonna get me
- 10:32Speaker 1: mad because I can't get near you, Okay because boot,
- 10:35Speaker 1: you just can't throw out the word boot. And see,
- 10:39Speaker 1: the crazy thing is people don't even know what booty
- 10:41Speaker 1: and is. People don't know about gumbo, and people don't
- 10:44Speaker 1: know about this stuff. So it's really amazing to, like,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you know, bring people into my culture, my heritage. So
- 10:51Speaker 1: let's talk about the boot and now the boot and
- 10:53Speaker 1: now I do I do dirty rice? Okay, I know
- 10:56Speaker 1: about boot. And let's say, you know, I'm from the
- 10:58Speaker 1: country a little bit of my parents. You do kill Hall,
- 11:01Speaker 1: bring a hog home at Hall when it was black
- 11:08Speaker 1: people go around the whole really should just start crying
- 11:11Speaker 1: because everything is edible, everything is edible around the hall.
- 11:14Speaker 1: So talk about you putting together this booting. What is
- 11:18Speaker 1: the process? You know? Okay, So for my boot and
- 11:21Speaker 1: stuffed chicken. The crazy thing is, I only get forty
- 11:23Speaker 1: five recipes in here. So even a lot of the
- 11:25Speaker 1: recipes now are gonna be in Cookbook number two. But
- 11:30Speaker 1: even with the booty, and it's just like I you
- 11:32Speaker 1: know how it's like in the little paper rice. I
- 11:34Speaker 1: slice it open, I take the rice part out, mush
- 11:36Speaker 1: it all up, um in my chicken. After I season
- 11:39Speaker 1: and I put the dirty rice inside the chicken and
- 11:42Speaker 1: I roll it up, put a toothpick in there, um,
- 11:44Speaker 1: drizzle some garlic, butter or whatever I'm putting on top
- 11:47Speaker 1: of it, put it in the oven for a good
- 11:48Speaker 1: thirty so minutes. And I tell you, jelly, so you
- 11:53Speaker 1: you add sophistication to the boot. Now you know that
- 11:57Speaker 1: ain't no that ain't no country. They didn't count it. Well,
- 12:00Speaker 1: I mean it's country mixed with my modern days. That's
- 12:05Speaker 1: the beauty of your book. Now you're taking a little country,
- 12:09Speaker 1: bringing it forward, because you know when you say boods,
- 12:12Speaker 1: crackers and bud that standard black folks talking. Now you
- 12:16Speaker 1: and the garlic butters drisuled right there, she said, sliding
- 12:20Speaker 1: in the other. Scam me, girl, scam me, now you
- 12:23Speaker 1: scare me over here. Now, No, it's phenomenal. It's phenomenal. Absolutely.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So you say this is cookbook one and that cookbook too.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Now let's talk about your social media, which is phenomenal,
- 12:33Speaker 1: you know, And I always tell people about social media
- 12:36Speaker 1: is interesting because you know, people follow you because they
- 12:39Speaker 1: either want to be like you, or you emotionally give
- 12:43Speaker 1: something to them that they feel they will miss, or
- 12:45Speaker 1: you provide information. Why do you think you have such
- 12:48Speaker 1: a strong social media fan base? I mean, I just
- 12:51Speaker 1: think me my personality. I think people fell in love
- 12:53Speaker 1: with who Jilly is. I feel like people fell in
- 12:55Speaker 1: love with who jilling In is as well. Um, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 1: just throughout social media showed a lot of my personality.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I've let people into my life, um a little at
- 13:05Speaker 1: times it was like a little bit personal as well,
- 13:07Speaker 1: which is why I feel like my fan base connected
- 13:09Speaker 1: to me so well. They have experienced, you know, journeys
- 13:11Speaker 1: with me. They have gone through some ups and downs.
- 13:13Speaker 1: They have gone through a little bit of backing away
- 13:16Speaker 1: from Instagram and noticing that I hadn't posted in a while,
- 13:19Speaker 1: or noticing my absence and you know, being concerned. And
- 13:22Speaker 1: so I think that's when like you have an extreme
- 13:24Speaker 1: fan base, it's just so awesome that you know, people
- 13:28Speaker 1: relate to it. People um got connected with me, you know,
- 13:31Speaker 1: and it's been a few years now, but at the
- 13:34Speaker 1: end of the day, it's just like so strong till
- 13:36Speaker 1: this day. I mean it never you never really realized
- 13:39Speaker 1: how much people support you until it comes to things
- 13:42Speaker 1: like items you're selling. And with my cookbook, it was
- 13:44Speaker 1: just so amazing because when I tell you the the
- 13:47Speaker 1: outpour of love and then just to actually see it
- 13:50Speaker 1: in sales was just like so just honestly mind blowing.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It was really really mind blowing. And I don't want
- 13:56Speaker 1: to say like I was shocked, but sometimes you are shocked.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You're shocked people actually put in their credit card information
- 14:02Speaker 1: to support you, you know. So I think it was
- 14:04Speaker 1: just such a blessing. And that was one of my
- 14:06Speaker 1: most recent realizing moments of how my fan base, my
- 14:10Speaker 1: social media, how impactful it is, you know to my
- 14:14Speaker 1: actual life. Well, that's that's that's really interesting because of
- 14:17Speaker 1: the fact that you opted to do you know, digital
- 14:21Speaker 1: that format versus going to a book company like a
- 14:25Speaker 1: Harper Collins or Simon Schuster. Now is it any reason
- 14:29Speaker 1: for that? Because you have the brand to be able
- 14:31Speaker 1: to do that. You got the social media followers, you
- 14:32Speaker 1: got the YouTube followers. So I'm sure any any major
- 14:37Speaker 1: book company would want to publish your book any reason.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I think, Um, you know, I wasn't opposed to it,
- 14:43Speaker 1: but I think I just wanted to do self publishing because,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, I think most people pay to have a
- 14:49Speaker 1: brand like I do. Most people pay to have like
- 14:51Speaker 1: an outreach or outlet like I do. So I think
- 14:55Speaker 1: you know, for me, it's finally here the season of celebration.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 15:02Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for Reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 15:06Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coals has just what you
- 15:09Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts
- 15:13Speaker 1: for all your loved ones. Send warm wishes with cozy fleeces, sweaters, loungeware,
- 15:18Speaker 1: blankets and throws. Support minority owned or founded brands by
- 15:22Speaker 1: giving gifts from Human Nation and Shame Moisture, or treat
- 15:26Speaker 1: them to everyone's favorite active wear from top brands like Nike,
- 15:30Speaker 1: Adidas and under Armor, and in the spirit of giving,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Coals Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits
- 15:37Speaker 1: nationwide committed to the health and well being of our communities.
- 15:41Speaker 1: No matter how you celebrate, when you shop at Coals,
- 15:44Speaker 1: you're right where you belong. So this season give with
- 15:48Speaker 1: all your heart with great gifts from Coals or coals
- 15:51Speaker 1: dot com. Whether your event needed one room or an
- 15:54Speaker 1: entire conference, under hoppin has revolutionized the way people come together.

- 16:56Speaker 1: and be the publisher of my book and put it
- 16:58Speaker 1: out and not have to make a dollar off of
- 17:01Speaker 1: a book that I've spent literally so much on, not
- 17:05Speaker 1: only in the making, but my book is what thirty
- 17:08Speaker 1: dollars and then only make a dollar from it. I
- 17:09Speaker 1: just I didn't want to do that. I wanted to
- 17:11Speaker 1: receive all my profit. I wanted to you know, really,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I wanted this first book to be my baby. I
- 17:17Speaker 1: want to book companies and everyone, just to really see
- 17:20Speaker 1: what I can do on my own. So you know,
- 17:22Speaker 1: when Cookbook Slash Lookbook number two comes out, I'm gonna
- 17:25Speaker 1: need that advance like way bigger. There you go. See
- 17:29Speaker 1: A First of all, I love talking to you, you know,
- 17:31Speaker 1: because I always tell people when when young people figured out,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you know, and you figured it out, this is your brand,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you building it, You are your CEO, your company, What
- 17:39Speaker 1: is your company? And you are an entrepreneur, and so
- 17:42Speaker 1: that's what excites me about talking to a person like you,
- 17:45Speaker 1: who it's not about your looks, it's about your brains.
- 17:48Speaker 1: It's driving your next step, your next financial opportunity, your
- 17:51Speaker 1: next career move, talk about your company and talk about
- 17:53Speaker 1: your brain. Absolutely, so everything is Jillianese. I think my
- 17:57Speaker 1: own um finding a brand that suited me was so
- 18:01Speaker 1: easy because it's me. It's literally so jillian Nie is
- 18:04Speaker 1: my brand, Jilliannie is my company, and everything follows under that,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and it just has several outlets. It's literally like a spiderweb.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Jillianese is in the middle, and it's music, it's dancing,
- 18:13Speaker 1: it's acting, it's cookbook, it's look book, it's fashion, its fitness,
- 18:17Speaker 1: his family, it's like never ending. And I think that's
- 18:19Speaker 1: the most amazing thing because it all coincides with Jillianie.
- 18:24Speaker 1: It's literally who I am. It's who I am growing
- 18:28Speaker 1: to be. So I think even when I did a
- 18:31Speaker 1: project like this, I think my main focus was to
- 18:33Speaker 1: let people know, you know, I'm not a person who
- 18:36Speaker 1: is a chef who's gonna open up a restaurant next week,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Like that's not my intent. My intent is literally every
- 18:42Speaker 1: time I cook or post something on Instagram, people are like,
- 18:45Speaker 1: oh my god, can you send this plate in the mail?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Like what is this recipe? And you know, I take
- 18:49Speaker 1: the feedback from people. People are like, well, how do
- 18:51Speaker 1: you stay so fit? Well? I do work out, So
- 18:53Speaker 1: here's me working out. Well, how do you also dance
- 18:55Speaker 1: like this? Well? I mean I was a dancer for
- 18:58Speaker 1: ten years of my life growing up, fifteen years in
- 19:00Speaker 1: my life growing up. And it's just like everything coincides
- 19:03Speaker 1: with my brand is literally who I am? When when
- 19:06Speaker 1: you talk about that, because it's really interesting because having
- 19:09Speaker 1: you on my show Money Making Conversation dot Com one
- 19:11Speaker 1: of the reasons, because you know, there are a lot
- 19:13Speaker 1: of people who want to be Jilly Okay, you know
- 19:16Speaker 1: they're they're about your hide, They're they're they're attractive like you,
- 19:20Speaker 1: they have hair and nice shape. But you've crossed the
- 19:26Speaker 1: line of leaving your competitors behind and you have a
- 19:30Speaker 1: plan for being successful in the future. What is the
- 19:33Speaker 1: separating line? You know, because condations separate themselves and you're sertain.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I'm just being very real with you. You are separating yourself.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You know, you don't have a hit TV show on
- 19:42Speaker 1: you don't have a hit single out there, but you
- 19:45Speaker 1: are growing and you're very popular, and social media has
- 19:48Speaker 1: made you a very viable media star because, like you said,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you don't need to go on the radio to drop
- 19:54Speaker 1: your book. You just dropped your book, and guess what,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you start dropping credit cards. What is separating from your competition?
- 20:01Speaker 1: I think just honestly never dwelling and staring away from
- 20:05Speaker 1: God's plan. I'm a big, big believer in my faith,
- 20:08Speaker 1: and I just know that no matter what, whatever God
- 20:10Speaker 1: has planned for me, it's unstoppable. I didn't know I
- 20:12Speaker 1: would be putting out a book. I didn't know. I
- 20:14Speaker 1: didn't I couldn't tell you at the beginning of this
- 20:17Speaker 1: year whe where this year would lead me. And you know,
- 20:19Speaker 1: I think it's just a matter of my faith. I
- 20:21Speaker 1: I never grow weary. I never, you know, stop believing
- 20:24Speaker 1: God's plan for me. And I think that's the ultimate thing.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm My biggest competition is myself. I just want to
- 20:31Speaker 1: do better than I did yesterday. I'm not trying to
- 20:33Speaker 1: compete with anyone else. I don't even look at anybody
- 20:35Speaker 1: else's direction. I am really big on congratulating my peers,
- 20:38Speaker 1: supporting my peers, and I think you know as long
- 20:41Speaker 1: as you are genuine, as long as you know, at
- 20:43Speaker 1: the end of the day, you could look at yourself
- 20:44Speaker 1: in the mirror and know that everything you're doing is
- 20:46Speaker 1: genuine your plan, like your path is gonna come, your
- 20:49Speaker 1: path is unstoppable. Well, you are definitely unstoppable. You're on
- 20:55Speaker 1: your on your bio came, I just said the six
- 20:57Speaker 1: els of Jelly. Okay, I'm assuming, and that's a brand.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Part of your brand. You sat down and said faith, family, food, fitness, fashion,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and fun. I'm gonna go to each one. Then, well,
- 21:08Speaker 1: then I want to go back to the cookbook and
- 21:10Speaker 1: want you to pull me through your favorite recipes, and
- 21:13Speaker 1: then we're gonna close it that alright, Google the six
- 21:16Speaker 1: of Jilly. You know, not residing in Glyndale, California. She's
- 21:21Speaker 1: a star, not a star on the Ride. She is
- 21:23Speaker 1: a real star, social media star, YouTuber, She's a she's
- 21:27Speaker 1: a Dance of Us singer, She's an all around superstar Jilly.
- 21:32Speaker 1: This is Roshan mcdowe. First time I'm interviewing you. I've
- 21:35Speaker 1: noticed that your bio said the sixths of Jelly. Break
- 21:39Speaker 1: that down your faith, family, food, fitness, fashion, and fun.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Let's start with faith. Faith. I'm a big believer in
- 21:46Speaker 1: my faith. You know, God comes first, God comes before
- 21:49Speaker 1: it all. You know, without him, none of it's possible.
- 21:51Speaker 1: And I don't just say that, I stand by that.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I wake up every morning and I pray. I pray
- 21:55Speaker 1: with my family, so twice this morning, once um, once
- 21:57Speaker 1: I wake up, once again with my family. We have
- 21:59Speaker 1: a group message where my dad sends his prayers every
- 22:02Speaker 1: single morning NonStop. Then again once before I go to sleep.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And you know, just throughout the day, I just know
- 22:06Speaker 1: that no matter what, without my faith, without knowing who
- 22:10Speaker 1: my God is, just none of this would be possible.
- 22:12Speaker 1: And you know, just always giving praise to the Highest,
- 22:15Speaker 1: praise to the you know, everything that I go through, everything,
- 22:18Speaker 1: through the good and bad, I just never stop saying
- 22:21Speaker 1: thank you. I never not make time for that, you know.
- 22:24Speaker 1: So I think with faith, it just has to do
- 22:26Speaker 1: with growing up with my family who instilled that, you know,
- 22:29Speaker 1: God is love. God is everything. So with um, with
- 22:33Speaker 1: God is love, I just know that no matter what,
- 22:35Speaker 1: every success I owe it to Him. So that's where
- 22:37Speaker 1: faith comes from. And now on the family side, it
- 22:40Speaker 1: was talking about the recipes in the book their generaship.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You know, because we talked about family little bit in faith,
- 22:44Speaker 1: but let's talk about family when it comes to the
- 22:46Speaker 1: food and your whole life. Family. You know, family when
- 22:49Speaker 1: it comes to the food. As you can see in
- 22:50Speaker 1: my cookbook, it's very incorporated with my family, and my
- 22:53Speaker 1: family is all throughout it. My family is literally I
- 22:56Speaker 1: want to see if I can just quickly, I can
- 22:59Speaker 1: even show you here's a picture right here with my dad.
- 23:03Speaker 1: This picture, like my mom and my grandmother is just
- 23:06Speaker 1: you know, family is a big part of my life.
- 23:08Speaker 1: If you ever, you know, have seen me, here's my
- 23:11Speaker 1: mom and my grandmother throughout it. My brother is in
- 23:15Speaker 1: here somewhere. Just I mean, people who watch me, people
- 23:19Speaker 1: who have been following me all these years, they know
- 23:21Speaker 1: that my family is my everything. You know, my family
- 23:25Speaker 1: is literally all I have. It's literally my mom, my dad,
- 23:29Speaker 1: my brother, um, and my grandmother. It's us five and
- 23:33Speaker 1: we have We're small, but we're mighty. We are small,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but were mighty. And you know, for me, it's kind
- 23:39Speaker 1: of a second, it's not even a really thought. It's
- 23:42Speaker 1: just like, my family is my everything. I don't even
- 23:46Speaker 1: want to I don't know, it's just so I don't
- 23:48Speaker 1: even know like how to tell you nothing would be
- 23:51Speaker 1: possible without my family there my backbones. They have me
- 23:54Speaker 1: more than anybody in this world. And you know, kind
- 23:57Speaker 1: of gets like emotional to talk about it. But my mom,
- 23:58Speaker 1: my dad, my brother, and my grandmother, the way we
- 24:00Speaker 1: support one another, the way we love one another. I
- 24:03Speaker 1: just know that if everything were to go wrong in
- 24:05Speaker 1: this world, their doors will always be open. And you know,
- 24:08Speaker 1: no matter what, I can be my true self around them.
- 24:10Speaker 1: They'll never judge me, and they love me and support
- 24:13Speaker 1: me through everything. So family is a very you know,
- 24:15Speaker 1: touchy but strong subject to me. Coolt's combined too of
- 24:19Speaker 1: the elf. Food and fitness, you know, food and fitness. Okay,
- 24:26Speaker 1: so it's you. So with food and fitness, you know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: in this cookbook there's a lot of like happy healthy
- 24:36Speaker 1: mial not really healthy but happy, you know, good rinching bottery,
- 24:43Speaker 1: buttery with salt mills. So I'm telling people abs are
- 24:47Speaker 1: not included in this book now that the body is
- 24:51Speaker 1: not included, you know, And that's why I wanted to
- 24:55Speaker 1: make sure I could bind food and fitness because they
- 24:57Speaker 1: are separate in your in your when you're laying out,
- 24:59Speaker 1: but you are dealing with a book that, like you said, uh,
- 25:03Speaker 1: has grown folks food in that book right there. You
- 25:05Speaker 1: know that's that's that's that's some real food up in that.
- 25:07Speaker 1: You know, shrip the jumbo shrump up in there and
- 25:10Speaker 1: looking great there. And so now the part of the
- 25:13Speaker 1: book that really are really made me really caught my
- 25:17Speaker 1: eye with the look book part, the look book cook book.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Maybe I'm maybe I've missed something, but I've never seen
- 25:23Speaker 1: that before and it's so slick talk about the fashion
- 25:27Speaker 1: and the look book part. I mean, here's even just one.
- 25:30Speaker 1: This is like a versace look with that I did, um,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I think it came second natured to me because I
- 25:37Speaker 1: mean I love fashion, I love style. I love I
- 25:41Speaker 1: feel like every day it's a fashion show. And you know,
- 25:43Speaker 1: for me, like I said, I'm not a person who
- 25:46Speaker 1: just sits in the kitchen and just like cooks and
- 25:48Speaker 1: that's not what I do. I'm not sixty years old
- 25:51Speaker 1: putting out a cookbook and have twenty kids and it's
- 25:53Speaker 1: just all about recipes. I mean, I wanted it to
- 25:55Speaker 1: be true to my brand, true to my image, and
- 25:58Speaker 1: my image is I literally will be in the kitchen
- 26:02Speaker 1: fully clothed like this cooking dinner and that's what you're
- 26:06Speaker 1: coming home to. I mean, I just wanted to, you know,
- 26:08Speaker 1: to be a part of really who I am. And
- 26:10Speaker 1: I love fashion, so I was like, how can I
- 26:12Speaker 1: really incorporate this to not only make it like a cookbook,
- 26:15Speaker 1: but make it so true to me yet so fun
- 26:18Speaker 1: yet so different. That hasn't been done. And I'm a
- 26:21Speaker 1: big person on doing things that haven't been done. I
- 26:23Speaker 1: don't want to fit in, you know, I want to
- 26:25Speaker 1: stand out always, and I think doing a cookbook slash
- 26:28Speaker 1: lookbook and having a different look for every single meal,
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's never been done, and I just can't wait to
- 26:34Speaker 1: see everyone who tries to copy it. Now. Well, absolutely,
- 26:37Speaker 1: I'll tell you something. It's the first. Now fun I
- 26:39Speaker 1: I said that from the very beginning that you are
- 26:42Speaker 1: a comedic actress. You know, uh, you have a sitcom
- 26:46Speaker 1: skill because I would tell people can do drama, but
- 26:49Speaker 1: being a funny person being a sitcom that's a that's
- 26:52Speaker 1: a talent, that's a skill set. Where does this fun personality?
- 26:56Speaker 1: And let me ask you this because a lot of
- 26:59Speaker 1: times people see you on your social media, they see
- 27:02Speaker 1: your TV, they see this upbeat person. When do you
- 27:06Speaker 1: shut it down, because I will tell you I was
- 27:08Speaker 1: just all the time. Steve Harvey or Kevin hard they
- 27:11Speaker 1: always think they should be funny all the time. They
- 27:13Speaker 1: cannot be funny all the time. When do you shut
- 27:15Speaker 1: it down? When does this fun person shut it down?
- 27:18Speaker 1: I don't think it ever shuts down. I think I'm
- 27:20Speaker 1: just fine seven. I think I am just an awesome, delightful,
- 27:25Speaker 1: always waking up in a great movie person. I mean
- 27:32Speaker 1: I think it just come to my family, that goes again,
- 27:39Speaker 1: It just plays, it goes again with my family, and
- 27:42Speaker 1: my family is fun. My family exudes fun. You come
- 27:45Speaker 1: around us, there's never a dull moment. And it really
- 27:48Speaker 1: is never a dull moment. I mean, you know, of
- 27:51Speaker 1: course I'm human. I get in my feelings sometimes too,
- 27:53Speaker 1: But around my family, you better be in them feelings
- 27:56Speaker 1: for two minutes or less because after a second, everyone's
- 27:59Speaker 1: gonna be look at you just crazy. So I mean
- 28:02Speaker 1: when I tell you, just with my family, you can't
- 28:05Speaker 1: be in a bad mood for long. You know, Um,
- 28:08Speaker 1: fun is just our life. Fun is our lifestyle. Life
- 28:10Speaker 1: is too short. We really my mom and my dad
- 28:12Speaker 1: have done a great job with just always saying you know,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you don't stay mad for too long. You don't stay
- 28:16Speaker 1: in a mad place for too long. You get over it.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You get over it, you start something new. Every hour
- 28:22Speaker 1: is a new hour. You know, just to be fun,
- 28:25Speaker 1: fun and life. You are fun, You're you're fantastic. Now,
- 28:27Speaker 1: a couple of things, you know. I'm putting my I'm
- 28:29Speaker 1: putting my casting director, my manager hat on. Okay. If
- 28:34Speaker 1: somebody offered you a cooking show, would you do it?
- 28:37Speaker 1: I would? Okay, cool, okay, cool. I would make it
- 28:39Speaker 1: my own. It wouldn't just be your ordinary in there
- 28:42Speaker 1: with the ugly apron. Okay, you're gonna be in there.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You'll be in there cooking. It's gonna be real. Now,
- 28:48Speaker 1: I ain't ibody messing with your your your brain. Now
- 28:51Speaker 1: we're gonna just the jelly brain. Okay, now, okay. Talk show,
- 28:55Speaker 1: a panel or you want an individual you would you
- 28:58Speaker 1: do a panel? Talk show? I would do um both.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I would. I love having different opinions um with other people.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I love whenever there is a panel of there, you know,
- 29:10Speaker 1: big and great co stars. I think it's so amazing
- 29:13Speaker 1: to have that different outlook, especially with women. I think
- 29:15Speaker 1: it's such a great outlook to have, you know, different
- 29:18Speaker 1: conversations with a panel of women and just different outlooks
- 29:20Speaker 1: on life and different perspectives as well as doing individually.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I mean, I can hold my own show, So I mean,
- 29:25Speaker 1: of course I have no doubt. You know, your boy
- 29:28Speaker 1: just asking for you know, just laying it out opportunities
- 29:31Speaker 1: and things like that. Absolutely, we love opportunities. Well, I
- 29:34Speaker 1: think that's your natural personality. You know, you'll go get it,
- 29:37Speaker 1: you know, but you go get it with a plan.
- 29:39Speaker 1: And that's what I respect about what you're trying to
- 29:41Speaker 1: do and what you're accomplish in a life. But more importantly,
- 29:43Speaker 1: you came on money main conversation. We talked about the
- 29:46Speaker 1: little book cookbook The Boss Lady Can cook Book. You
- 29:49Speaker 1: can cook, my friend. I respect you for that. We
- 29:52Speaker 1: were talking to future. I want to make sure that you.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna need some things from you, okay when I
- 29:57Speaker 1: when I closed this show, because I do want to
- 30:00Speaker 1: it over to you because in this business about relationships
- 30:02Speaker 1: and when I see somebody who's as talented as you, um,
- 30:06Speaker 1: I just want to give you a shot. Thank you
- 30:09Speaker 1: appreciate so much because you work hard. No, I'm just
- 30:12Speaker 1: tearing your hard worker. You know you don't get what
- 30:14Speaker 1: you're doing because you know what I like about. I
- 30:16Speaker 1: have six sisters and I was twenty four twenty four
- 30:18Speaker 1: year old daughter, Okay, and I love the fact that
- 30:21Speaker 1: she's my daughter. And I'm sure your father loves the
- 30:25Speaker 1: fact that you're his daughter. And you represent a lot
- 30:29Speaker 1: of great qualities that I would like my daughter to
- 30:33Speaker 1: see and embrace. And she can't sing like you, she
- 30:37Speaker 1: can't dance like you, she can't, but she has a
- 30:39Speaker 1: great fun personality like you. And she's an incredible academic student,
- 30:43Speaker 1: uh in game design. But more importantly, you are great
- 30:46Speaker 1: young lady, and know what you need you. Okay, thank
- 30:49Speaker 1: you so much. Absolutely, I can't change. Can't. Oh yeah,
- 30:52Speaker 1: because she's fund in her sleep, desolutely. Literally, I've been
- 30:58Speaker 1: the same person for twenty four years. Can't change now.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on Money Making Conversations. Okay, thank
- 31:04Speaker 1: you for having me. Thank you so much. If you
