- 3:00Speaker 1: Ain't that nice? Ain't that nice? Please broke the money?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Mad conversation David and Tamla Man, WHOA come on, y'all, hello,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I love it, you know you love I think, I want,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I think I want you to do my my e
- 3:21Speaker 1: legit at my funeral, well, making introductions like that. I'll
- 3:24Speaker 1: tell you something. First of all, y'all know you'a have
- 3:26Speaker 1: a favorite couple, oh you know, favorite coup obviously your
- 3:31Speaker 1: favorite couple from Tyler Para too, because you know, you
- 3:34Speaker 1: guys became legends in the stage play world. And then
- 3:38Speaker 1: he was able to to turn in at you your
- 3:40Speaker 1: own tour because right before the COVID hit, you guys
- 3:43Speaker 1: were touring as a family. Is it gonna come back? Uh?
- 3:46Speaker 1: In one? That was gonna be moving two, when y'all
- 3:49Speaker 1: go back on the road, take the family back on
- 3:51Speaker 1: the road as a tour. You know, we we we're
- 3:55Speaker 1: just trying to juggle and get back to normal. First
- 3:58Speaker 1: before we you know, we were eased some new music
- 4:00Speaker 1: for Tamala and uh right now we're just trying to
- 4:03Speaker 1: maneuver and just figure out this whole new new way
- 4:07Speaker 1: of normal. And then then we only look, I'm ready
- 4:13Speaker 1: to go back out. I just want everybody else to
- 4:16Speaker 1: be ready too. Well, you know that's very true, because
- 4:19Speaker 1: you know I would tell everybody I'm fully vaccinated. I
- 4:21Speaker 1: always tell I try to promote the factor we have
- 4:24Speaker 1: to get vaccinated. We have to get out there to
- 4:26Speaker 1: get you know, and promote the factor. And no, there
- 4:29Speaker 1: no agenda, and guess what, nothing's perfect out there. I'm
- 4:32Speaker 1: not saying if you get vaccinated, you might not have
- 4:34Speaker 1: some ill effects, but I would tell you this and
- 4:36Speaker 1: you not both know. Once I got vaccinated, it changed
- 4:39Speaker 1: my whole perspective. I wasn't paring on it anymore. I
- 4:42Speaker 1: felt safer. I felt I could get on with my life.
- 4:46Speaker 1: What was your what would eat? Your feedback when you
- 4:48Speaker 1: got vaccinated? Were for us? I mean some you know,
- 4:52Speaker 1: some parts like even when I say so my kids,
- 4:54Speaker 1: it was like, no, we're not doing I was like,
- 4:57Speaker 1: but we're doing it because like when I go see
- 4:59Speaker 1: my mother, she had some issues. I have a sister
- 5:02Speaker 1: that has some issues. You know, it's just people that's
- 5:05Speaker 1: around me that have issues. And I'm not just looking
- 5:07Speaker 1: at for me, I'm looking at for them as well,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and even as you know, for the family. So we're
- 5:12Speaker 1: just not even like you say, encouraging people to just
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, do do what's right for you, do what's
- 5:18Speaker 1: right for you. But we we felt like it was right,
- 5:20Speaker 1: and like you said, you know, it just made us
- 5:23Speaker 1: less paranoia. We're around a lot of people, we traveled,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and so I wanted to get back to that and
- 5:28Speaker 1: and it not just be like oh my god, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know who I wanted to do. They have it right.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It gave us a you know, it just made us
- 5:37Speaker 1: feel a little safer. And y'all all the words because
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm I'm such a hugger. I was scared. He was like,
- 5:48Speaker 1: if you're somebody didn't have a son blown COVID because
- 5:50Speaker 1: she wanted to hook you didn't know. It was just
- 5:55Speaker 1: I was just so used to it. So I'm just
- 5:58Speaker 1: we went at a funeral, so supposed to be social distancing.
- 6:02Speaker 1: She don't grab the mic and hit the mic with
- 6:04Speaker 1: her lists? No, what are you doing? People coming up
- 6:12Speaker 1: to her? Hu, No, No, ain't supposed to be absolutely
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know. And then I'm talking to David chamlin Man
- 6:19Speaker 1: and uh, you know, any any story that they tell
- 6:22Speaker 1: us as an honest story, and it's a story about life.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And the thing about it is before we was talking
- 6:27Speaker 1: last time I've seen it, and David, you started talking
- 6:29Speaker 1: about how music and I'm just telling you'all, tamlin Man
- 6:31Speaker 1: set a historic and personal industry record the first gospel
- 6:34Speaker 1: lead artists and Billboard Gospel history three consecutive number ones
- 6:39Speaker 1: from an album. This is who we're talking about. And
- 6:41Speaker 1: so I always want to bring out that diversity because
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'm also gonna talk about your business, your entrepreneurship, you
- 6:45Speaker 1: leisure line and all that stuff and your various campaigns.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And then I also want to talk about the producer
- 6:50Speaker 1: side that you do, David, what I like to always
- 6:53Speaker 1: bring up when I bring talent like you on money
- 6:55Speaker 1: making conversation. People see only one side of you. They
- 6:59Speaker 1: see the enter aim inside to the comedic side, but
- 7:02Speaker 1: you're there are layers to the man's family. Tamela, tell
- 7:05Speaker 1: us about that wells like, like you said, we started
- 7:09Speaker 1: with with me. For me, it started with music and
- 7:11Speaker 1: we started into the acting thing. And now you know, David,
- 7:15Speaker 1: he pushed me. He pushed me into really be standing
- 7:18Speaker 1: out being an artist, which I'm really grateful for because
- 7:21Speaker 1: he's helped me, with God's help, He's helped me become
- 7:24Speaker 1: the actress and the artists that I am today. And
- 7:28Speaker 1: then even to go into the clothing line Tamla Man
- 7:31Speaker 1: collection which is at at Leisure. Weares you know, so
- 7:35Speaker 1: force like like I have something on today. But I'm
- 7:39Speaker 1: just really excited about all the different things that we
- 7:43Speaker 1: that we do have our hands in because we've learned
- 7:46Speaker 1: that you can't put all your eggs in one basket.
- 7:50Speaker 1: That means it's like you're concentrating just on one thing,
- 7:52Speaker 1: but sometimes you have more than just one gift. And
- 7:56Speaker 1: it's just like him with he is the mastermind of
- 7:59Speaker 1: all of our little things that we have going on,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and I really appreciate him pushing us even as a family.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm a big believer in ownership. I like ownership. I
- 8:10Speaker 1: like to own my masters. I like the oh you
- 8:12Speaker 1: know that. I just I'm a big believer in own it.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And you know that way you can create the narrative
- 8:18Speaker 1: for yourself and you don't have to have somebody else
- 8:21Speaker 1: to kind of, you know, navigate how you want to
- 8:24Speaker 1: do it. So that that's just how I operate the business.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Is just like, let's just get in there. Because with her,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I told him, you have a following. People see you snatched,
- 8:33Speaker 1: they want to know how you snatch. They want to
- 8:36Speaker 1: know how you look and where you get that stuff from.
- 8:38Speaker 1: So she just started creating and designing her own stuff,
- 8:41Speaker 1: and I was like, don't worry. I'll get somebody we
- 8:44Speaker 1: can start distributing it. And that's the way it was
- 8:46Speaker 1: with the music. I'll find this distribution, will you know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: will produce it ourselves and make it do so. I
- 8:53Speaker 1: have new music coming June for a new single help Me.
- 8:57Speaker 1: The new album is don't drop in all this little
- 8:59Speaker 1: I'll be back, you know, dropping it. So I'm in it.
- 9:06Speaker 1: But I'm really excited about it because I have, you know,
- 9:10Speaker 1: just looking at you know, yourself and and David and
- 9:14Speaker 1: and really putting my hands to work this album. I
- 9:17Speaker 1: put my hands to work more than I ever have
- 9:20Speaker 1: with any of the other ones. Maybe because we did
- 9:22Speaker 1: have the pandemic. We had more time. I was writing more,
- 9:26Speaker 1: just eating, putting the help and we put the artwork together,
- 9:29Speaker 1: just creating the ideas for videos. But we just want
- 9:32Speaker 1: to encourage our people that we can make it happen
- 9:35Speaker 1: if we if we support each other, we can make
- 9:37Speaker 1: it happen for each other. We know. An interesting thing
- 9:40Speaker 1: about it is that You're You're beautiful copy and and
- 9:44Speaker 1: the Longevity book. When I had you guys on the
- 9:47Speaker 1: show talking about that, and when when, Because that means
- 9:51Speaker 1: that it's possible, because you know, we always here that
- 9:53Speaker 1: fifercent of the marriage and the divorce. What is the
- 9:56Speaker 1: most when I'm talking to David and Tamila man, what
- 9:59Speaker 1: advice do you give the people who struggling Because you
- 10:02Speaker 1: know you have a strong faith. We all know faith
- 10:04Speaker 1: is tied to that. What advice do you give when
- 10:07Speaker 1: those moments of doubt come into a relationship. I always
- 10:12Speaker 1: tell like I tell my staff and tell me tell everybody,
- 10:15Speaker 1: there's a there's a little picture and there's a big picture.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm looking at the big picture of it all. What
- 10:21Speaker 1: what is to come? And you know, for us, even
- 10:24Speaker 1: as a couple in the industry, like you were saying,
- 10:26Speaker 1: with divorce, we genuinely enjoy each other's company. People ask us,
- 10:31Speaker 1: what's the key, what's the secret? I like this woman
- 10:34Speaker 1: right here, and we've managed we we just celebrated thirty
- 10:37Speaker 1: three years in April, and it's because we genuinely enjoy
- 10:42Speaker 1: each other's company. In this pandemic, you know, people were
- 10:45Speaker 1: locked in the house seven with each other. So either
- 10:49Speaker 1: you you discovered I really love you, or you discovered
- 10:53Speaker 1: I don't like you at all? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 10:59Speaker 1: For we discovered I like even more. I mean to,
- 11:04Speaker 1: you know, because people were leaving here. So I just
- 11:07Speaker 1: never want to take him for granted. And you know
- 11:09Speaker 1: the things that he do for me and help me with,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know, and I just want to become more of
- 11:15Speaker 1: a friend or wife, whatever areas that he needs. I
- 11:19Speaker 1: just want to be there. I just don't want it
- 11:21Speaker 1: to be one sided. That you're helping me accomplish everything
- 11:24Speaker 1: that I want to accomplish. I want to help you
- 11:26Speaker 1: accomplish some of those things too. So it's like we
- 11:29Speaker 1: try to put each other before each other. You know,
- 11:32Speaker 1: it's not not looking at it through just the one vision,
- 11:36Speaker 1: uh one. I just focused on myself that I but
- 11:40Speaker 1: it's on both of us that we were making things
- 11:42Speaker 1: happen for each other. It's finally here the season of celebration,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 11:49Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for rays, magos or karam lighting, the
- 11:52Speaker 1: Manura are going to midnight mass, Pose has just what
- 11:56Speaker 1: you need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find
- 12:00Speaker 1: gifts for all your loved ones. Send warm wishes with
- 12:03Speaker 1: cozy fleeces, sweaters, loungeware, blankets and throws. Support minority owned
- 12:08Speaker 1: or founded brands. By giving gifts from human nation and
- 12:11Speaker 1: shame moisture, or treat them to everyone's favorite active wear
- 12:15Speaker 1: from top brands like Nike, Adidas, and under Armour. And
- 12:19Speaker 1: in the spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating eight
- 12:22Speaker 1: million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed to the health
- 12:26Speaker 1: and well being of our communities. No matter how you celebrate,
- 12:29Speaker 1: when you shop at Coals, you're right where you belong.
- 12:33Speaker 1: So this season, give with all your heart with great
- 12:36Speaker 1: gifts from Coals or coals dot com. What grows in
- 12:40Speaker 1: the forest trees, sure, No. What else grows in the forest,
- 12:44Speaker 1: Our imagination, our sense of wonder, and our family bonds
- 12:48Speaker 1: grow too, because when we disconnect from this and connect
- 12:53Speaker 1: with this, we reconnect with each other. The forest is
- 12:58Speaker 1: closer than you think. The find the forest near you
- 13:01Speaker 1: and start exploring. I Discover the Forest dot Org brought
- 13:04Speaker 1: to you by the United States Forest Service and the
- 13:07Speaker 1: ad Council. Hi, everyone, I'll Rooker here as a guy
- 13:11Speaker 1: with his own catchphrase. I appreciate that Smokey's only said
- 13:14Speaker 1: only you can prevent wildfires, But I'm filling in because
- 13:18Speaker 1: there's a lot more to report, like when they're parched
- 13:21Speaker 1: their windy conditions out there, you gotta be extra careful
- 13:24Speaker 1: with things like burning yard waist. After all, wildfires can
- 13:28Speaker 1: start anywhere, even in your neck of the woods. Through
- 13:31Speaker 1: to Smokey bear dot com to learn more about wildfire prevention,
- 13:35Speaker 1: brought to you by the U. S. Forest Service, your
- 13:37Speaker 1: state forester, and the ad Council. We're doing interesting thing.
- 13:40Speaker 1: But that's why I'm so happy to see you guys again,
- 13:42Speaker 1: Because you know, David, he called me all the time.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I called him shut I got this new record, look
- 13:47Speaker 1: at this video. Can you help me drop it? You know,
- 13:49Speaker 1: because he's a natural business person. Pandemic shut down a
- 13:53Speaker 1: lot of that because we all were confused. The world stopped.
- 13:56Speaker 1: We didn't know when it was gonna start back up.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And now that it's starting back up, and I see
- 14:01Speaker 1: the success and the opportunity. Now you lead your where
- 14:05Speaker 1: you know you you are a RP representative. All those
- 14:09Speaker 1: things were coming your way. You're looking on the other's hand. David,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you're like a manager, proud husband, proud papa. I told
- 14:16Speaker 1: you so. I told you can do a guy. When
- 14:19Speaker 1: you look at that, That's why that's why I read
- 14:22Speaker 1: those credits like I read them I read David and
- 14:25Speaker 1: joke y, I just read all of hers because he's
- 14:27Speaker 1: responsible for that three years. He really is, because people
- 14:31Speaker 1: even ask him that rochall. It's like like, because well
- 14:34Speaker 1: I know that you. I mean, people asking me the
- 14:36Speaker 1: crazy questions like well, you you're making all the money. No,
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'm really not making all the money, y'all really just
- 14:41Speaker 1: don't know. Like you said, he is the mastermind behind
- 14:44Speaker 1: it all. So it's like we're doing this together, and
- 14:48Speaker 1: you know, it's like we're both in the fourth and
- 14:50Speaker 1: even in that, I'm so secure and who I am.
- 14:53Speaker 1: None of that even bothers me when I tell you
- 14:55Speaker 1: at all, because I'm so at fifty five, I'm so
- 14:59Speaker 1: cool and who I am. They could come up and
- 15:02Speaker 1: say all of that, and I'm like, good, that's great. Yeah,
- 15:06Speaker 1: because we both share the same last name and the
- 15:10Speaker 1: bank account, all the numbers on the bank accounts, it
- 15:12Speaker 1: has both abound the name, so it doesn't matter to me.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Well that then and that and I know it doesn't.
- 15:18Speaker 1: But what I wanted to say in that and just
- 15:21Speaker 1: emphasize it's the roles that we play in the marriage, well,
- 15:24Speaker 1: the roles that were playing a relationship and what happens.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Is that's what destroyers are married and get confused. You know,
- 15:31Speaker 1: you know what success? What role did you play? And
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm saying is that he plays a very subtle role
- 15:37Speaker 1: publicly and that's the beauty of who he is. That's
- 15:40Speaker 1: what I love David Man. You know, he is so
- 15:42Speaker 1: brilliant as a comedian, as an actor. And then you
- 15:45Speaker 1: sit in a room with him, you go, do you
- 15:49Speaker 1: know who you are? What you're talking about? Rashean? You
- 15:51Speaker 1: you one of the funniest guys. I know what you're
- 15:53Speaker 1: talking about. Jimmy quiet off. And when I was talking
- 15:56Speaker 1: to you, guys, we shout we regular, We just regular people.
- 15:59Speaker 1: And y'all know, y'all not look I mean because you
- 16:06Speaker 1: know what I just I don't look at that celebrity thing,
- 16:10Speaker 1: you know, because I feel like we're all special with
- 16:12Speaker 1: all stars in God's eye. I mean, I thank God
- 16:16Speaker 1: for the platform that the Lord is helped us, you
- 16:19Speaker 1: know get and I haven't want to say that, but
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm just really grateful for the opportunity to help somebody else,
- 16:27Speaker 1: encourage somebody else. That's what it's all about. When it
- 16:30Speaker 1: comes to my music, you know, even with the clothing
- 16:33Speaker 1: line it's for the full figure women because sometimes in
- 16:36Speaker 1: so many areas, I feel like you get left out
- 16:38Speaker 1: where our stuff is not as cute as stuff with
- 16:41Speaker 1: a smaller woman. Not knocking them, but we won't cute
- 16:43Speaker 1: stuff too. So that's why I did that. Every day.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Thick girls love too, So it's like we just want to,
- 16:51Speaker 1: you know, just having a serious conversation. He's gonna just
- 16:57Speaker 1: dive in with to the need fashion saving they need,
- 17:01Speaker 1: they need a good okay, there's not about just wearing
- 17:04Speaker 1: t shirts and tights. No, No, they need fashion, they
- 17:07Speaker 1: need some savvaties, you know. And it's just really it's
- 17:12Speaker 1: really a blessing to be a blessing to somebody else
- 17:16Speaker 1: where you let other people know that things can happen
- 17:18Speaker 1: for you too. Well, here's the thing, nobody, because you know,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I met you sucking and man, you came in my
- 17:23Speaker 1: life second, the first he came into my life first,
- 17:26Speaker 1: you know, because I would tell everybody publicly like I
- 17:30Speaker 1: think I know everything, but I don't know everything. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: think I know who are famous, then I don't know
- 17:36Speaker 1: who famous. The first time I met Mr Man was
- 17:40Speaker 1: that when um Offcial tv J held his gospel celebration
- 17:44Speaker 1: in Atlanta, and uh, you know, me and Steve we're
- 17:47Speaker 1: walking around like we started. You know, we're walking around here,
- 17:50Speaker 1: har I'm next year. I'm getting all this shadow. You
- 17:52Speaker 1: know I'm gonna start because I'm in this shadow. Right,
- 17:55Speaker 1: And then this dude came around the corner with these
- 17:58Speaker 1: ugly pants on there were two right, and walked on
- 18:02Speaker 1: stage in the place exploded and like with Steve, who
- 18:06Speaker 1: is that dude? Jesus, I think that Mr Brown? Who
- 18:10Speaker 1: is Mr? Brown? Me? You are a phenomenon, You are
- 18:15Speaker 1: an underground phenomenon. David Mann. No, I'm telling what Steve said.
- 18:20Speaker 1: At first, my kids are back there and they said,
- 18:23Speaker 1: Steve said, who is they? They saying, well, I'm with
- 18:26Speaker 1: David Man. Who is the mad Man? Then I went,
- 18:31Speaker 1: don't say and it was like that, and Steve was like, oh, okay,
- 18:37Speaker 1: you do, Steve, Steve, throw me some shade. Dude. Well,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I'm tech we are Meto meetcho. Because I didn't know
- 18:44Speaker 1: who you're watching, wold you do get pants on? He
- 18:49Speaker 1: took over. I mean twenty thousand people were following him.
- 18:52Speaker 1: If he had a pipe, he could have laid them
- 18:54Speaker 1: right down the street because they were fans of you.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I don't care about Steve Harby, Short Time Out, the Apollo,
- 19:01Speaker 1: the have Comedy down, Me and the Boys. You my
- 19:05Speaker 1: brother built a Star Power fan base underground before TV,
- 19:12Speaker 1: before radio. Tell us about that journey. Come on, David Man,
- 19:17Speaker 1: you know what I I mean. I've been doing this character
- 19:19Speaker 1: for twenty years and never could have imagined that playing
- 19:22Speaker 1: this character could could make my dreams, her dreams, some
- 19:26Speaker 1: my kids grandkids could make I mean some of our
- 19:30Speaker 1: dreams come true. Never could have imagined we were just
- 19:32Speaker 1: doing it. We had to be on the road to
- 19:34Speaker 1: earn an honest living. Kept us from doing it. Legal stuff,
- 19:38Speaker 1: but it was it. Never could have imagined that it
- 19:42Speaker 1: would grow to this, to where doing another television show
- 19:46Speaker 1: assist a living and still be relevant after twenty years.
- 19:50Speaker 1: That's in this industry. You know that that just doesn't happen.
- 19:53Speaker 1: And I don't take it for grant, and I just
- 19:55Speaker 1: know that it's really a blessing. It really is. Now
- 19:59Speaker 1: there actors, did you guys play really were born out
- 20:03Speaker 1: of a play for Tyler's Perry's play? Correct? You know Coore?
- 20:08Speaker 1: You played his daughter in the TV series Assistant Living.
- 20:11Speaker 1: You got my board watch out there now. J Anthony
- 20:13Speaker 1: Brown on I've been on jail Jenned Browns eight six,
- 20:21Speaker 1: A little history of me when I when I left
- 20:23Speaker 1: my job at IBM to go to stand up comedy.
- 20:26Speaker 1: He was the first black comedian I met on the role.
- 20:29Speaker 1: He was headlining and it was in Mobile, Alabama where
- 20:33Speaker 1: we met. And back then they wouldn't put in two
- 20:35Speaker 1: black comedians on the show at the same time. It's
- 20:38Speaker 1: just the white headline of counsel. At the last minute,
- 20:41Speaker 1: and they brought Jenis Brown in as an emergency. That's
- 20:43Speaker 1: how I met him, and he's and he's been in
- 20:46Speaker 1: my life every since. So I know you gotta get
- 20:48Speaker 1: special talent. J Cole about two days ago, Man, this song.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I didn't know you were singing like this. He was
- 20:56Speaker 1: listening to a song from the love album ups and
- 20:59Speaker 1: Downs is I don't blame it. By five times he
- 21:01Speaker 1: text me it comes up, I'm loving this song. I'm
- 21:04Speaker 1: loving this song. I was like, I'm just doing what

- 22:07Speaker 1: has just nailed the perfect car seat buckle for the toddler.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And now the eldest daughter, who looks to be about
- 22:13Speaker 1: nine or ten, has secured herself in the booster seat.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Dead zips the bad clothes and they're off. Ah, but
- 22:20Speaker 1: looks like Mom doesn't realize her coffee cup is still

- 23:31Speaker 1: When you come in is what I tell you. The
- 23:36Speaker 1: energy that he brings to the show. Sometimes we're like, Jay,
- 23:40Speaker 1: did you just say what? I thank you saying? And
- 23:42Speaker 1: then you know, I'm always telling him, okay, okay, come
- 23:45Speaker 1: on with cousin James, come on. I'm like, okay, I
- 23:49Speaker 1: remember we got kids just watching too, Okay, I will
- 23:52Speaker 1: do it. And then the energy that he brings to
- 23:56Speaker 1: the show. Man, I'm telling you, it's a joy working
- 23:58Speaker 1: with Yes And I tell you say that about everybody
- 24:01Speaker 1: you know, we know. And there's the thing about it,
- 24:04Speaker 1: because I'm talking to David and Tamiler Man Uh started
- 24:07Speaker 1: new Tyler Perry's Assisted Living series as on aeron BT
- 24:10Speaker 1: every Tuesday and nine thirty follows The House of Pain
- 24:14Speaker 1: at nine o'clock. It's a Tyler Perry block every Tuesday
- 24:17Speaker 1: on being I'm just gonna be real now, you know,
- 24:20Speaker 1: Tyler Perry taking over everything, Tyler Perry gonna be Tyler
- 24:23Speaker 1: Perry gonna be on the moon pretty soon. You want
- 24:25Speaker 1: to just look up and just see tp TV probably
- 24:28Speaker 1: right there. But you know when I when I look
- 24:32Speaker 1: at the success of the Man's because you're a brand. Now, Now,
- 24:37Speaker 1: what is the responsibility of being a brand? Because both
- 24:40Speaker 1: of you guys are out there and then you take
- 24:43Speaker 1: a management producer role oftentimes David, and you take a
- 24:47Speaker 1: talent but you're still an entrepreneur, businesswoman. There's a lot
- 24:51Speaker 1: of things going in there. Thirty three years of marriage
- 24:53Speaker 1: and I'll well celebrate my thirty three year of marriage
- 24:56Speaker 1: and December, So thank you very much, thank you very much.
- 25:00Speaker 1: So that's what we're always gonna have that little link
- 25:02Speaker 1: together because I know there was a moment in my life,
- 25:05Speaker 1: especially entertainment, where you you're traveling. You're traveling, and entertainment
- 25:09Speaker 1: is a fickle business because there's no consistency. You can't
- 25:13Speaker 1: sometimes buy a house, you can't buy clothes, you can't
- 25:16Speaker 1: die anything because you know that check you got is
- 25:18Speaker 1: gonna be there next week. So over I talk about
- 25:22Speaker 1: overcoming that uncertainty to maintain this longevity, and then we're
- 25:27Speaker 1: gonna talk more about the serious in detail assisted living.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You know, been in this industry, We've been in this
- 25:32Speaker 1: industry for twenty five years, and like you said, we
- 25:35Speaker 1: had a lot of friends that said, you know what,
- 25:37Speaker 1: and a lot of talented brothers that have said, you
- 25:39Speaker 1: know what, y'all going to do that the uncertainty is
- 25:42Speaker 1: too much for me. So what we decided to do
- 25:45Speaker 1: is just jump out there full just in faith. I mean,
- 25:51Speaker 1: and I think we start ninety ninety three or something
- 25:54Speaker 1: like that, I don't know, somewhere back and then we
- 25:56Speaker 1: would decide just getting into the game. And it was
- 25:58Speaker 1: like scary because us sometimes it's up and sometimes it's day,
- 26:02Speaker 1: and we just decided, Lord, we're going full time in it.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And we haven't looked back, you know, as we were
- 26:09Speaker 1: talking about with the characters and the music and all
- 26:12Speaker 1: of that, we just made sure as entrepreneurs that it
- 26:15Speaker 1: hadn't been we haven't been one trick ponies. And that's
- 26:18Speaker 1: what I think helped us to survive in this pandemic
- 26:21Speaker 1: is because yeah, we were not only just depended on
- 26:25Speaker 1: the road and you were doing you know, like I said,
- 26:27Speaker 1: we had a clothing line, We have you know, music
- 26:29Speaker 1: and television and you know stuff like that to kind
- 26:32Speaker 1: of help sustain through all of this. You know, it's
- 26:35Speaker 1: really interesting because that's that multiple levels of income that
- 26:38Speaker 1: we talked about, a lot of people don't do that.
- 26:40Speaker 1: They they can see that lane of success. And guess
- 26:43Speaker 1: what pandemic talks us a lot about pivoty, about looking
- 26:46Speaker 1: at the mailbox money. What are you doing besides your
- 26:49Speaker 1: primary income or the other income? And that's the platform
- 26:52Speaker 1: that you guys are both of you guys have created
- 26:55Speaker 1: and it has sustained itself through these these dark times
- 26:58Speaker 1: and and and everything. But but but but I have
- 27:03Speaker 1: to be I have to say that before we go,
- 27:05Speaker 1: is that it was just about Tyler Perry. And it's
- 27:08Speaker 1: a good thing is that you guys have had a
- 27:10Speaker 1: lot of success with him. Can you can you put
- 27:13Speaker 1: in maybe a minute or less than a minute, or
- 27:15Speaker 1: talk as long as you want about the greatness of
- 27:18Speaker 1: Tyler Perry, his influence in this industry when a lot
- 27:22Speaker 1: of people questioned it, and his impact on your lives
- 27:25Speaker 1: and the people he entertains today. Well, a lot of
- 27:29Speaker 1: stuff that people that people don't see is the giving
- 27:32Speaker 1: that he does outside of you know, you hear about
- 27:35Speaker 1: some of the stuff that he will do in the
- 27:37Speaker 1: public guy, but there's a lot more going on behind
- 27:41Speaker 1: the scenes that he's doing helping other people. Uh, he
- 27:45Speaker 1: just choose not to let it be known. Uh. He
- 27:48Speaker 1: asked me a question. We were on the road and
- 27:49Speaker 1: he asked me the question, so what would it take
- 27:51Speaker 1: for you to retire? And uh, I gave him a number,
- 27:54Speaker 1: was like, okay. He said, no, you gotta dream higher.
- 27:58Speaker 1: You gotta dream much higher. And I thought about it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I was like, you're right, Okay, you're right. And it
- 28:04Speaker 1: just made even sending the studio and send the other
- 28:07Speaker 1: stuff that he's done and that he's doing it just
- 28:10Speaker 1: made you dare to dream bigger, dare to go, you know,
- 28:14Speaker 1: like put in the work. You see him, because when
- 28:16Speaker 1: I tell you do work, people don't believe how much
- 28:19Speaker 1: this he worked. By the time he finishes a series,
- 28:22Speaker 1: he's exhausted. And I've seen it because he puts his mind, body,
- 28:27Speaker 1: everything into doing this. And that's that's stuff that I've
- 28:30Speaker 1: seen through the years. And it's just like, Okay, if
- 28:33Speaker 1: that's how he's doing it, if that's how he's become
- 28:36Speaker 1: a mogul building, I said, Okay, I see it. So
- 28:42Speaker 1: it just made me start, Okay, I'm gonna build my
- 28:45Speaker 1: And I called him the other day and I say, man,
- 28:47Speaker 1: I'm a little afraid on something. I got an opportunity,
- 28:50Speaker 1: but I'm afraid what you waiting? No, just go do it, man,
- 28:55Speaker 1: And I was like, okay, So I pulled the trigger
- 28:58Speaker 1: on it. Just I called him and just asked him
- 28:59Speaker 1: that bus on it. I can't tell you all the
- 29:02Speaker 1: choice worthy like you gonna do it to stop being scary.
- 29:08Speaker 1: So that's just where is well for me. I mean,
- 29:13Speaker 1: to see him, you know we started in ninet nine
- 29:15Speaker 1: and nine. To see him from then to now, I'm
- 29:19Speaker 1: very if I can say, as a sister friend, I'm
- 29:22Speaker 1: very proud of him and even how he's grown, even
- 29:27Speaker 1: with dealing with the people. I mean, it's like, you know,
- 29:31Speaker 1: him finding himself and and like you just like that's
- 29:34Speaker 1: the years grow. I've just seen him grow and I'm
- 29:37Speaker 1: just really really proud of him and everything that he's accomplished.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Look ain't no jealous bone in our body. They're very
- 29:44Speaker 1: happy and pushing him on, and I'm praying for him
- 29:47Speaker 1: all the time, and I'm just really I'm really, really
- 29:51Speaker 1: really proud of him. I really am. I just that's
- 29:54Speaker 1: the biggest I'm just happy for him. I'm so happy
- 29:57Speaker 1: for him. Well, I'm happy for David and Tamila Man
