- 2:28Speaker 1: And that's just a boy sharing your story at different
- 2:29Speaker 1: levels from we're gonna talk about psychodocious, which are affected
- 2:33Speaker 1: some good friends of mine and I want to I
- 2:35Speaker 1: want to share my story with you. And I thought
- 2:37Speaker 1: that was important because what happens is a team of
- 2:39Speaker 1: my My My Talent team we meet every Tuesday, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: we we Friday and we go over guests and your
- 2:45Speaker 1: your name came up and I went wow. I love
- 2:47Speaker 1: his story. I also love the fact that you want
- 2:49Speaker 1: to get into entrepreneurship. Also love the fact that you
- 2:51Speaker 1: are an undrafted free agent and you know, it's really funny.
- 2:55Speaker 1: They'll tell you that I have this this show. I
- 2:57Speaker 1: featured more undrafted free agents for the NFL on my
- 3:00Speaker 1: show than first round picks because of the fact that
- 3:03Speaker 1: they're no guarantees and you're just chasing the dream. So
- 3:06Speaker 1: tell us about the experience of you know, you go
- 3:08Speaker 1: to everybody wants to get drafted, and you don't get drafted,
- 3:11Speaker 1: tell us those steps that went to you making it
- 3:14Speaker 1: to the n Apples Coats. Well, see, man, Honestly, um,
- 3:18Speaker 1: just like you said, everybody, you know, everybody that plays
- 3:20Speaker 1: college football, they expect and hope to get drafted. Um,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie man me. In my situation, I
- 3:27Speaker 1: was kind of I was like playing Devil's Advocate with myself.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm like, well, you know, I went to a small school.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You know, I had a good seed a year and
- 3:34Speaker 1: all the other stuff. But um, I know how the
- 3:36Speaker 1: NFL is as a business, and you know, small small
- 3:39Speaker 1: school guys they get a chance, but you know that
- 3:41Speaker 1: they'd rather take a chance on a guy that went
- 3:43Speaker 1: to Georgia, Florida or Miami. You know, a guy that
- 3:47Speaker 1: went to Delaware transferred, you know, from Rather to Delaware.
- 3:50Speaker 1: So I kind of played devil advocate with myself and
- 3:52Speaker 1: I still felt like I could get drafted, but just
- 3:54Speaker 1: not as high as I would like like to ask.
- 3:57Speaker 1: And um, you know, the draft came up and I
- 3:59Speaker 1: had to come. The teams called me during the draft saying,
- 4:01Speaker 1: you know, we got X amount of picks left you know,
- 4:04Speaker 1: just stay by your phone. And then the end of
- 4:06Speaker 1: the draft came and none of them teams called me.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Um and man, the coach actually brought me in for
- 4:12Speaker 1: a top thirty visit before the draft, and I was
- 4:15Speaker 1: the only team to do that. So I'm familiar with
- 4:18Speaker 1: their coaches, familiar with the you know, familiar with the city.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I had been there twice because of the combine, right,
- 4:24Speaker 1: so you know, um, yeah exactly. So you know, I
- 4:26Speaker 1: kind of just felt comfortable going there, and I knew
- 4:28Speaker 1: I had an opportunity to make it. I felt like
- 4:31Speaker 1: I could have went to any team and and honestly
- 4:33Speaker 1: made the team. But I knew that those guys they
- 4:37Speaker 1: believed in me and they would give me a fair,
- 4:38Speaker 1: fair chance because of all the stuff that they did
- 4:41Speaker 1: prior prior to the draft. I'm gonna ask you straight
- 4:43Speaker 1: i'ma ask you straight up, Zachan. This is about food
- 4:46Speaker 1: that you know. You know, I'm a big eater, zack
- 4:49Speaker 1: A right now, you six to its three four okay,
- 4:54Speaker 1: I'm six ft one Okay, Now I likes to eat. Ay.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I fear you. I fear you have I'm the wrong
- 5:04Speaker 1: person to come into town and hanging out with everybody
- 5:08Speaker 1: gained wait for Sean McDonald. I had a couple of
- 5:10Speaker 1: friends came to town. I don't see see what do
- 5:13Speaker 1: you what? You're based in Denver? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 5:16Speaker 1: bought a house and two years ago when I tryned
- 5:18Speaker 1: my my initial country, I'm I'm we're gonna trade numbers.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I gotta find out what you're gonna because I got
- 5:24Speaker 1: I got eats all over this country, Zator. I've never
- 5:27Speaker 1: been to Denver. So see, I know you've got some
- 5:29Speaker 1: spaces up there for me. Oh yeah, I got some.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I got some. I got the spots for you, demon
- 5:34Speaker 1: Trump spots for you. And see I I was going
- 5:38Speaker 1: off buffet my noddle name. I'm a buffet man, he said,
- 5:41Speaker 1: I don't know, you might be shamed for going into
- 5:43Speaker 1: a buffet eating with regular folks. So you now, I'm hey, look, look, hey,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I keep it being. I keep you the stack. I
- 5:50Speaker 1: can't forget. I can't forget what I came from, seething.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Definitely we could be the TV Zach just know they're
- 6:04Speaker 1: worried about him. But I'm really the problem. Hey man,
- 6:09Speaker 1: he look, hey, look, I gotta be disciplined with this thing. Man,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I don't see people. You think you have to leave.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But you know that's what I say. That's what we
- 6:17Speaker 1: ain't gonna meet all the time. You know what I'm saying.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Put your nose some teammates out there for joint. Man,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I keep put on the weight. Let me go. Let
- 6:25Speaker 1: me call my boy Rashawn. That's what you're gonna do.
- 6:28Speaker 1: That's what we're gonna do. Call my boy Rashawn. You
- 6:33Speaker 1: got issues. He can straighten it out in one week.
- 6:36Speaker 1: One week, I'm gonna start a little bit. Probably understand
- 6:41Speaker 1: my love can be an asset in the NFL. Mm hmm,
- 6:47Speaker 1: because there's a lot of dudes. I hear the can't game.
- 6:50Speaker 1: They ain't been around Rashwan make I'm just telling you
- 6:54Speaker 1: six two. You don't need my help. You're a walk. No,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I don't need it. So let's talk about man. Just
- 7:03Speaker 1: just you know, you you you you, you know. We
- 7:06Speaker 1: all know NFL has a short window. You know it's
- 7:09Speaker 1: a physical sport. You know you go in doing there
- 7:12Speaker 1: is an end. Anybody who goes to the NFL, I
- 7:15Speaker 1: thank you, go to retire twenty years or now is
- 7:17Speaker 1: not really comprehending what they're getting into. But you decided
- 7:21Speaker 1: that you're gonna become an entrepreneur talk about that absolutely, yeah, man,
- 7:26Speaker 1: I mean, um, I've always been interested in business and
- 7:30Speaker 1: in entrepreneurship. I just didn't really know how to go
- 7:33Speaker 1: about it. You know, in college, other study you know
- 7:36Speaker 1: financial that vias and or accounting or any of that stuff.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I just studied what I liked. So once I got
- 7:42Speaker 1: to the NFL and I noticed, you know, there was
- 7:44Speaker 1: a lot of guys um in my position that that
- 7:47Speaker 1: that weren't doing what I was interested in, I was like,
- 7:50Speaker 1: you know what, I gotta I gotta start thinking this
- 7:52Speaker 1: stuff out. So, you know, I talked to a lot
- 7:55Speaker 1: of people. Um, I actually really got it into get
- 7:59Speaker 1: what I've seen. I've seen guys, Uh, I've seen guys
- 8:01Speaker 1: going brokes. I'm like, I can't do that. I can't
- 8:04Speaker 1: be one of those guys just living off a football salary.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And some some guys can do it, and I've been
- 8:09Speaker 1: and I can do it too, you know. But it's
- 8:10Speaker 1: just like I feel like having multiple streams of income
- 8:13Speaker 1: is is you know what I'm saying, That's what keeps you, uh,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you know, above water and life and um. So you know,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I met with a couple of guys and one of
- 8:23Speaker 1: my good friends and Denver. His name is Christie Warten,
- 8:26Speaker 1: and he went to he got his NBA, went to
- 8:29Speaker 1: business school, and uh, he approached me with this with
- 8:33Speaker 1: this plane about coffee and uh, and he kind of
- 8:38Speaker 1: just he broke it down to me. And I told
- 8:39Speaker 1: him I was like me and him had been one
- 8:41Speaker 1: of the lake with each other based on you know,
- 8:43Speaker 1: on on the business side, not even on the football side,
- 8:45Speaker 1: because he's a football fan too. And and I kind
- 8:48Speaker 1: of expressed and we both expressed the the need and
- 8:52Speaker 1: want for athletes to own revenue in their own brands
- 8:56Speaker 1: and then their names. You know what I'm saying, there's
- 8:58Speaker 1: no enough athletes that you know, it's a lot of
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's a lot of guys who got jerseys in the NFL,
- 9:02Speaker 1: but they're not they're not making a lot of money
- 9:04Speaker 1: off jersey sales in the NFL. You know what's right,
- 9:06Speaker 1: what's going to the NFL or you know, guys are
- 9:09Speaker 1: doing uh product you know based deals where you post
- 9:13Speaker 1: this and you get free products and um, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I got it. I got a son, and my son
- 9:17Speaker 1: is not about to eat you know, this pair of
- 9:21Speaker 1: headphones for dinner. You know what I mean, you can't.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It was like I'm not posting. You know, I don't mind,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I did it, but it's just like I can't go,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I can't continue. That's that's kind of playing. Yeah, that's
- 9:36Speaker 1: not it. And that's we're gonna come back. We're gonna
- 9:41Speaker 1: talk more about it and uh and I also want
- 9:43Speaker 1: to talk about your spokesperson for Psycho Doosis uh and
- 9:47Speaker 1: a good friend of mine, Bernie mac famous. A lot
- 9:50Speaker 1: of people the African American community are aware of his death,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but we're gonna talk about it affects more than just
- 9:55Speaker 1: Bernie Mack and he's a spokesperson. We're back with my man,
- 9:59Speaker 1: Zachari kurb I just Rashan McDonald. I'm on the phone
- 10:06Speaker 1: with entrepreneur, spokesperson and player for the National Football League
- 10:10Speaker 1: and nose six ft two, three hundred and thirty four
- 10:15Speaker 1: pounds talking to Rushan McDonald six ft one ninety pounds
- 10:21Speaker 1: at me, he has a hundred and forty pound leverage
- 10:24Speaker 1: on me, which means if I landed up against him,
- 10:26Speaker 1: he started laughing in my face and probably slap me
- 10:30Speaker 1: and go, are you a fool? I'm about to crush
- 10:33Speaker 1: you you you you, you just do me so wrong
- 10:36Speaker 1: with you, sir, I'm gonna say, sir, talking away, I
- 10:38Speaker 1: gotta say, sir, hey man, hey, look if you put
- 10:43Speaker 1: if you, if you got to get down in front
- 10:45Speaker 1: of there, you gotta do my job. You know, I
- 10:50Speaker 1: my daughter on the sidelines. You know, you know, baby,
- 10:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna go in front of Mr kurb because you
- 10:56Speaker 1: know when when when you go around somebody that with
- 10:58Speaker 1: that size, do you have to respectful? You know? Going okay,
- 11:05Speaker 1: land your little skipping behind in front of me and
- 11:06Speaker 1: see what's gonna happen? Paste my button the ground. So
- 11:10Speaker 1: so so I enjoy you know, your personality, like you
- 11:13Speaker 1: said on social media, And I want to get back
- 11:16Speaker 1: to why I really brought you on the show. It's
- 11:18Speaker 1: a couple of things and woke Coffee's w okay eat
- 11:21Speaker 1: coffee and why you felt it was important part of
- 11:24Speaker 1: your entrepreneur brand. Well, I mean, uh, you know, coffee
- 11:29Speaker 1: is a is a one point one billion dollar industry. Um,
- 11:35Speaker 1: you know you and we're not just talking about like
- 11:37Speaker 1: Starbucks and Dunking Donuts. You know what I'm saying. You
- 11:39Speaker 1: got to your mom and pop stories are doing really
- 11:42Speaker 1: well them you know, you got you got coffee shops.
- 11:46Speaker 1: You know, coffee is dominated outside of the country. You know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: us we use coffee as far as like waking up
- 11:51Speaker 1: and you know, doing stuff like that. Over there in
- 11:54Speaker 1: Europe and Colombia and you know, different places like that,
- 11:57Speaker 1: they drink you know, coffees. I talked, I gotta drink
- 11:59Speaker 1: twenty comes to coffee a day and that's just you know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and that's just how they do it over there. You know,
- 12:04Speaker 1: it's different. It's just different, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And um, and I enjoyed that. And I've seen I've
- 12:10Speaker 1: seen how people react to coffee and you know, how
- 12:13Speaker 1: much they're drinking and how much people depend on coffee
- 12:16Speaker 1: in the morning. So I was like, you know, this
- 12:18Speaker 1: is definitely something I'd be interested in. And um, like
- 12:20Speaker 1: I said, my business partner, we we both, you know,
- 12:24Speaker 1: we have different ideas based on athletes, um, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 1: allowing themselves to make money outside of football and using
- 12:33Speaker 1: their name to continue to make money. You know, Um,
- 12:36Speaker 1: the league makes money off of us. So I felt
- 12:38Speaker 1: like it was it was it was a good situation
- 12:41Speaker 1: for us. And you know, you know, I'm not a
- 12:43Speaker 1: household name. You know, I'm not a household name, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: I'm cool with that. But at the same time, when
- 12:49Speaker 1: when they see, Okay, this guy's making X amount of
- 12:51Speaker 1: money off the field, uh this, you know, those guys
- 12:54Speaker 1: would household names might be like, all right, cool, I
- 12:57Speaker 1: that's something I might I might be interested in. And
- 12:59Speaker 1: let is it a bricking mortar or is it just
- 13:02Speaker 1: an online sales Wolke coffee? Yeah, well yeah, we we're
- 13:07Speaker 1: gonna do both right now. We gotta. We actually have
- 13:09Speaker 1: a flagship location, um, which is which is is in
- 13:13Speaker 1: downtown Dinner It's called Studio thirty two and um and
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's actually a barbershop in the basement and a coffee
- 13:19Speaker 1: shop up top. So you know, we're bringing a lifestyle
- 13:24Speaker 1: kind of towards ye drinking the coffee. You know what
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm saying. We gotta And another guy we went in
- 13:29Speaker 1: the business with actually owned the shoes, a shoe store
- 13:32Speaker 1: on the corner of the same block. UM. So essentially,
- 13:36Speaker 1: you know, we we are we are trying to create
- 13:38Speaker 1: a lifestyle along with drinking coffee. And uh, you know,
- 13:41Speaker 1: we believe that the best way to do it is
- 13:44Speaker 1: is put is put the culture together. As far as
- 13:46Speaker 1: you know, getting you know, men getting haircuts, to get
- 13:49Speaker 1: the trade, shoes, getting a nice couple of coffee. Hey,
- 13:52Speaker 1: if you want to go check out some clothes and shoes,
- 13:54Speaker 1: you can go ahead. You got down up right down
- 13:56Speaker 1: the street as well. But you know, we we we gotta,
- 13:58Speaker 1: we got a different ideas for you know, how we
- 14:01Speaker 1: want to get into it. And I feel like a
- 14:02Speaker 1: lot of asking. Okay, what they gonna ask, They're gonna
- 14:05Speaker 1: ask about this. You know what a football player know
- 14:08Speaker 1: about coffee? Where I can go to star books, duct
- 14:11Speaker 1: don't nuts? You know what what you over there, sir?
- 14:16Speaker 1: You right past exactly and and and and and that's
- 14:21Speaker 1: cool because you know, I'm getting myself educated. I'm not.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm not an av advy coffee drinker like you know,
- 14:27Speaker 1: the normal, like the normal in the country. But at
- 14:31Speaker 1: the same time, I'm I'm learning cup and I'm learning
- 14:34Speaker 1: how to you know, how to get flavor notes from
- 14:37Speaker 1: the roast. I'm learning all those things. And we got guys,
- 14:40Speaker 1: uh that are based in Columbia that are helping us
- 14:42Speaker 1: do that. We you know, we're on the call of
- 14:45Speaker 1: video calls within me. We're all tasting coffee at the
- 14:47Speaker 1: same time, right Yeah. You know, we discussed what we
- 14:51Speaker 1: what we're getting out the coffee is it? You know?
- 14:53Speaker 1: We we got one coffee that's got a got like
- 14:55Speaker 1: a whiskey ap to taste to it, you know what
- 14:57Speaker 1: I'm saying. Um, And when I tasted it, I was like, man,
- 15:00Speaker 1: this context like liquor a little bit. And a guy
- 15:02Speaker 1: who's who's the roast said, Hey, I got the same
- 15:04Speaker 1: thing from me. So I feel like I'm gonna I'm
- 15:06Speaker 1: gonna track to learning and and educate myself more on coffee.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But you think that's that's the start, that's the start, right.
- 15:13Speaker 1: But that's the part I love is that you are
- 15:15Speaker 1: not being Hey, man, give me some money and we're
- 15:18Speaker 1: gonna go do this for you. Go hold on, hold on,
- 15:20Speaker 1: that's my money. Okay, Well I'm gonna follow you. I'm
- 15:24Speaker 1: gonna follow you with my money in my hand, and
- 15:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna put my money down and you're gonna give
- 15:29Speaker 1: me something back like cough and who buy? Put him on,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Put him on Skype, Put him on Skype. He might
- 15:36Speaker 1: be next though, you know he might be next though
- 15:38Speaker 1: that looks like look like us to day in the background,
- 15:41Speaker 1: what you at, dude, look like so what cutting other
- 15:44Speaker 1: country somebody be running everyone speaking another language. I'm just
- 15:50Speaker 1: telling you, man, that's and that's and that's movie. That's
- 15:53Speaker 1: the narrative to be trying to change as far as
- 15:54Speaker 1: like athletes just getting to you know, Okay, I'm gonna
- 15:58Speaker 1: show up and I'm gonna get this check or I'm
- 16:00Speaker 1: to do this since now it's like, no, man, understand
- 16:02Speaker 1: where your money is going on. I'm gonna give you
- 16:04Speaker 1: this money and it's supposed to grow. It's like, no, man,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I understand where your money is going and understand the
- 16:09Speaker 1: process behind what's uh, you know, what's what's going on
- 16:12Speaker 1: with where your money is going. It's not just Okay,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna hang your money and then I'm gonna make money.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Like I feel like that's a lot of get do.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I love this. I love this interview. I want to
- 16:21Speaker 1: talk about your mom, what you heard about the formation
- 16:24Speaker 1: of the Syndicre Award presented at the Foundation for Psychodosius Research.
- 16:29Speaker 1: First of all, tell everybody what Psychodosious is and why
- 16:32Speaker 1: you became a spokesperson, and then will talk about your mom. Okay, yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: so starbodos is pretty much it's a It's an inflammatory
- 16:41Speaker 1: disease and attacks your main organs um, you know, brain, heart, lungs, never,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I mean your skin. You get it, you get it,
- 16:49Speaker 1: you get it all. You can get it anywhere. And
- 16:51Speaker 1: what it does is pretty much is it. It caused
- 16:54Speaker 1: inflammation and those overen So my mom she has it
- 16:56Speaker 1: in her loans and it calls she she had she
- 17:00Speaker 1: had a real bad player one day and the medicine
- 17:03Speaker 1: they gave her it caused the circus to eat up
- 17:05Speaker 1: a third of her lungs. So she has a learned
- 17:07Speaker 1: in the quarter right now. And and you know it's
- 17:10Speaker 1: just it's something she had for fifty years and and
- 17:13Speaker 1: the kind of you know it definitely, um, it definitely
- 17:17Speaker 1: doesn't allow her to be who she was when I
- 17:20Speaker 1: was growing up. And so now tell us about the
- 17:24Speaker 1: that's the disease illness, tell us about the found out. Well, see, honestly,
- 17:29Speaker 1: man um, I wanted to kind of bring awareness tool
- 17:33Speaker 1: it and and I was trying to figure out the
- 17:34Speaker 1: way we can do that without um, you know, being
- 17:37Speaker 1: so in your face with it. And what happened was
- 17:40Speaker 1: we pretty much contacted uh the Foundation of Reducing Research
- 17:45Speaker 1: to them. We wanted to get on board and help
- 17:47Speaker 1: him out. And they came back and was like, we
- 17:50Speaker 1: want you to be the national spokes person. Actually, so
- 17:53Speaker 1: it worked out. They just came back to just exactly
- 17:56Speaker 1: because you got personality, so you know, you just you
- 17:58Speaker 1: just didn't call like a regular football plasic. Who is that?
- 18:01Speaker 1: Are you funny? You know you got a little swag?
- 18:04Speaker 1: Are you? Let's see the photo? They see a little swag.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I know that's a shadow of a private jet that
- 18:09Speaker 1: you want and buy. I know where your head, brother,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I know how to take photo. Look, put this shot
- 18:16Speaker 1: in the background, that G four G four shadow in
- 18:20Speaker 1: the background. Yeah. Yeah, So I just and I feel like,
- 18:27Speaker 1: you know, man, I tried to. I pride myself on
- 18:29Speaker 1: being a good person in my life, right, so I
- 18:31Speaker 1: feel like if you do those things, man, things have
- 18:33Speaker 1: come back to folks for you. So a lot of
- 18:35Speaker 1: times when I want to get stuff done, it just happens.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And I tell people that all the time, like I'm like,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I wish I could give you this crazy success story,
- 18:42Speaker 1: but at the same time, like I just want stuff
- 18:44Speaker 1: to happen to anything, it ends up happening for me.
- 18:47Speaker 1: So that's pretty much how I went down and that's
- 18:50Speaker 1: that's really special. And so so now this offseason, so
- 18:52Speaker 1: you're kind of doing your thing, getting ready for what
- 18:55Speaker 1: the PTO uh or I'm getting I know in three letters,
- 19:03Speaker 1: I know in three letters, O T P T O.
- 19:06Speaker 1: What what is it? Dog? What is it? Dog? What
- 19:08Speaker 1: is it? I'm afad. I wish you got that damn off,
- 19:19Speaker 1: damn off something like that. I love this dude, many
- 19:22Speaker 1: I wouldn't. We'll just tell you man that you know,
- 19:24Speaker 1: I know when you call these shows, you don't know
- 19:26Speaker 1: what they're spect. Uh. This is disrespect, is respect for
- 19:29Speaker 1: you as your brand. And that's what I'm telling you
- 19:32Speaker 1: that you can call me at the time and uh
- 19:34Speaker 1: and communicate with me. Tell the company that represents you,
- 19:38Speaker 1: Uh they do a great job, or represent other talent
- 19:40Speaker 1: like you that, Uh, this is a home. It's home
- 19:42Speaker 1: for all you guys. And I know how big my
