- 1:12Speaker 1: over one hundred million streams of her performances. Please walk
- 1:16Speaker 1: up the money making conversation, Tasha called Leonard, Hey, that's
- 1:24Speaker 1: a lot of lot, that's a lot, that's a lot.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Why thank you for having me here? First of all,
- 1:35Speaker 1: it is honored for me because of the fact that
- 1:37Speaker 1: you're gonna share information to my listeners and on and
- 1:40Speaker 1: the people who view me on my Facebook page about
- 1:44Speaker 1: why it's important to be a businesswoman as well as
- 1:47Speaker 1: a talent, because a lot of people, I think the
- 1:50Speaker 1: really uh that old you know statement that you know,
- 1:53Speaker 1: we're just in here for the the art has changed.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We're in here for the business and the art. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and it has, so try to change that or it
- 2:02Speaker 1: was just always there, but social media just helped to
- 2:04Speaker 1: get there faster, you know what. I I believe both.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I I believe it was always there. I've always been.
- 2:12Speaker 1: My brother used to have his own going joke when
- 2:14Speaker 1: I was I was very young, and he would saying,
- 2:17Speaker 1: you are the richest person I've ever seen with no job.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But I always found a way, even when I was younger,
- 2:25Speaker 1: you know, to to make a means for myself outside
- 2:28Speaker 1: of what my parents provided. I felt that it was
- 2:31Speaker 1: very important, um that I do something to provide for myself.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And it started at a very young age. But I
- 2:39Speaker 1: will say this um with social media back when I
- 2:43Speaker 1: released my first independent project, but a lot of people
- 2:47Speaker 1: still asked about to this day. Honestly, you know, I
- 2:50Speaker 1: did it all. I I started my own website, I
- 2:53Speaker 1: put my own record on tune Core. You know, I
- 2:57Speaker 1: did all of the groundwork and I will forever um
- 3:02Speaker 1: respect those days. I believe that I am able to
- 3:05Speaker 1: do what I do now because I did the groundwork then.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And so I put that album out on my Space
- 3:12Speaker 1: at the time, it was my Space, YouTube and iTunes,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and that album just really blew my mind. I didn't
- 3:19Speaker 1: think so many people would respond, and so honestly, yes,
- 3:23Speaker 1: it's it's dual. I am. I've always had like this
- 3:26Speaker 1: entreprepreneurs thing on me, but also social media helped me
- 3:30Speaker 1: to push and to market my brand. It's really interesting
- 3:33Speaker 1: because a lot of people used to worry blessings faith
- 3:38Speaker 1: going out on faith, but it's also about effort and
- 3:42Speaker 1: also believe it in yourself and this is your vision.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Because a lot of people can tell you you're washing
- 3:48Speaker 1: your time. And I know I've heard that a lot
- 3:50Speaker 1: of my career. And I'm sure if people have told
- 3:52Speaker 1: you you looked this way, nothing's gonna happen for you, you
- 3:56Speaker 1: you talked this way, nothing's gonna happen for you. And
- 3:58Speaker 1: why you put that on my don't nobody know you?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Don'tbody know you? And so and so. Isn't it amazing
- 4:07Speaker 1: that you you you put your music, you're notknown artists,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and hustle got it out there called on favors? And
- 4:14Speaker 1: what did happen when you start seeing the views the plays? What?
- 4:18Speaker 1: What was that? What was running through your mind when
- 4:20Speaker 1: that was happening? You know what? And I think I
- 4:24Speaker 1: have to go back to something you said, because that
- 4:26Speaker 1: is so true about having faith. Yes we have faith
- 4:28Speaker 1: with the Bible also says that faith without work is dead.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You can have faith all day, but if you don't
- 4:35Speaker 1: get up and do something, it's gonna be them. Um.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So I appreciate you for saying that. But when I
- 4:41Speaker 1: started seeing more and more people purchased the album, be
- 4:46Speaker 1: interested in the album, post about the album, it actually
- 4:48Speaker 1: gave me more courage to do more. You know, when
- 4:52Speaker 1: I started seeing people and how they were being blessed
- 4:56Speaker 1: by what they heard or you know, what they saw
- 4:58Speaker 1: from me. It gave me a love the ammunition I
- 5:01Speaker 1: needed to say, Oh, I need to get up and
- 5:02Speaker 1: do a little bit more, because I'm the kind of
- 5:05Speaker 1: person you know, when I read that scripture that says
- 5:07Speaker 1: faith with our works is dead. To me, that says
- 5:10Speaker 1: get up and do something. So the more I see
- 5:13Speaker 1: the faith working for me, the more I want to do.
- 5:15Speaker 1: That's the kind of person I am. So I you know,
- 5:18Speaker 1: they used to say this thing in church back in
- 5:20Speaker 1: the day, Um, you take one step of God to
- 5:23Speaker 1: take two. So I'm always about taking that first step
- 5:26Speaker 1: and letting him do what he does, you know, after
- 5:28Speaker 1: he sees me operating my faith. So that's just the
- 5:32Speaker 1: way I think. So my response to people being blessed
- 5:35Speaker 1: by my album at first when it was it gave
- 5:38Speaker 1: me all that I needed to keep doing more works.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And I think that's important for you to say that
- 5:43Speaker 1: because I always tell people that. First of all, you
- 5:45Speaker 1: absolutely correct when you say by doing it yourself, you
- 5:49Speaker 1: understand how far you're willing to push yourselves and also
- 5:52Speaker 1: how far you want to challenge the people who say
- 5:55Speaker 1: they want to do the same thing for you. You You
- 5:57Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, because you have that it out
- 6:00Speaker 1: the way personality. Excuse me, I do that. Don't worry
- 6:04Speaker 1: about it. That's how fairst you're gonna move. That's how
- 6:06Speaker 1: fairst you're gonna move. Okay, cool, I got this, I
- 6:08Speaker 1: got this, I got this. And that's important because it
- 6:11Speaker 1: gives you the conference to say, I know how this
- 6:14Speaker 1: is the how this is done. I know how much
- 6:16Speaker 1: effort needs to be put in it for me to
- 6:18Speaker 1: be happy. Now, if you're not gonna good effort in
- 6:20Speaker 1: to make me happy, that means that you satisfy and
- 6:24Speaker 1: you reach your satisfied, satisfying point in your life, then
- 6:27Speaker 1: guess what I'm done with. You can somebody that's coming
- 6:30Speaker 1: in the room, because that allows that that business had
- 6:33Speaker 1: of yours to come on board. And I I tell
- 6:36Speaker 1: you sometimes I always admire people like you who who
- 6:40Speaker 1: get it at such an early age, you know. And
- 6:43Speaker 1: I admit that I am talented. I will admit that
- 6:45Speaker 1: I see things uniquely, uh dough, a unique mirror or
- 6:50Speaker 1: glass or a window, and and and I'm able to
- 6:54Speaker 1: figure out things a lot faster than most people. But
- 6:56Speaker 1: I didn't understand who I was early age. I just
- 7:01Speaker 1: knew people just people just told me I was talented,
- 7:03Speaker 1: and people just told me that he stopped doing that.
- 7:06Speaker 1: You're gonna be better than that. Stop that, stop being stupid.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Stop you know you're going to be better than People
- 7:12Speaker 1: just protected me and told me just you know, it
- 7:16Speaker 1: just kept me alive. And then but your brother said, hey,
- 7:19Speaker 1: he knew you, he knew he had a passion to
- 7:22Speaker 1: be different. Absolutely, Ye who pushed you? What? Well under this?
- 7:27Speaker 1: I know it's all starts with the parents, But did
- 7:29Speaker 1: you see something where you're inspired by something? What? What
- 7:32Speaker 1: drove you? Wow? I actually came from a family of
- 7:38Speaker 1: just ambitious people. You know, they're very talented. My entire
- 7:42Speaker 1: family things that play instruments. You know, they're educators. They
- 7:47Speaker 1: believe in education and doing what you're calling to do.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So I had a family. It's good to have a
- 7:53Speaker 1: family unit of people. And then that doesn't necessarily have
- 7:56Speaker 1: to be blood. But the Rock tell people all the
- 7:59Speaker 1: time the round your piece yourself around people. Some of
- 8:02Speaker 1: them may know who you are before you know who
- 8:05Speaker 1: you are. And I always want to surround my people
- 8:08Speaker 1: myself around people who know more than me if, as
- 8:11Speaker 1: somebody told me the other day, if if you know
- 8:13Speaker 1: the most in your circle of friends and you need
- 8:15Speaker 1: to get some new friends. If you didn't do gospel music,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you you're some You're gonna be somewhere successful. You always
- 8:23Speaker 1: shut it down. This is what I think, you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't care if that ib am real estate uh broker?
- 8:29Speaker 1: You gotta do because you you got that, you got
- 8:32Speaker 1: a sense of the work ethic, you know. And then
- 8:34Speaker 1: and then I also you understand relationships. You also understand
- 8:37Speaker 1: that I will not walk into the room and be
- 8:39Speaker 1: the smartest person by something I don't know. Yes, correct,
- 8:44Speaker 1: you have to Sometimes you gotta learn to be quiet
- 8:46Speaker 1: and listen. You know. Sometimes we just try to talk
- 8:49Speaker 1: too much and prove how smart we are. But sometimes
- 8:51Speaker 1: you need to walk in the room and be quiet
- 8:53Speaker 1: and listen. I'm they used to call me, even at
- 8:55Speaker 1: my labels. They say she's like a sponge. I will
- 8:58Speaker 1: sit down and soak everything, you know, to see how
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's gonna help me become who I'm supposed to be happy.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But he said this the other day, I'm gonna leave
- 9:06Speaker 1: this or haven't done everything I was supposed to do.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I am that's me right there with Sean McDonald. With
- 9:12Speaker 1: Sean McDonald, we're gonna be right next to each other.
- 9:14Speaker 1: We're gonna be gray by gray baby, and we're gonna
- 9:17Speaker 1: say on that done it all, both of them, done
- 9:22Speaker 1: it all, both of them. That's gonna be all that's
- 9:24Speaker 1: gonna be written on all stones. Right there, Let's talk
- 9:26Speaker 1: about this next time. I got six sisters. When I'm
- 9:30Speaker 1: passed away, but I'm always have six sisters. Their look curvy,
- 9:32Speaker 1: they look curvy. I'm gonna just say I love the
- 9:35Speaker 1: look curving, you know, and so you got this life
- 9:37Speaker 1: for curves, you know. So so what okay, do you
- 9:42Speaker 1: know if I gotta ask you this question to develop
- 9:45Speaker 1: an athletic line, do you work out? I absolutely do.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I have a trainer, I sure do. I know people
- 9:51Speaker 1: don't believe big girl workout, but we can be healthy too.
- 9:55Speaker 1: That's what I'm I'm wanting to push. I want. I've
- 9:58Speaker 1: seen so many curvy girls because I released this line,
- 10:02Speaker 1: they have the courage now to stand up and say, yeah,
- 10:05Speaker 1: I work out, you know, yes, you know I do.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I eat healthy. But sometimes some of us say used
- 10:11Speaker 1: to say this back in the day, some of us
- 10:12Speaker 1: just big bone girls. But I believe you can be healthy.
- 10:16Speaker 1: You can ask my doctor right now. I have no
- 10:18Speaker 1: health issues whatsoever. I'm a curvy girl and I believe
- 10:22Speaker 1: And eat it right, you know, I'm gonna eat me
- 10:24Speaker 1: a piece of cake every now and then. But for
- 10:26Speaker 1: the most part, you gotta stay with your regiment. You
- 10:28Speaker 1: gotta make sure that you're taking care of your temple.
- 10:31Speaker 1: God gave us one body, you know, He gave us
- 10:34Speaker 1: one one life to live, and you have to make
- 10:36Speaker 1: sure you're taken care of it. And and terb athletics.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I wanted to push that. You know, the the this
- 10:42Speaker 1: honest story behind this is I was online um looking
- 10:47Speaker 1: for Ivy Park, which is Beyonce's uh. She has an
- 10:51Speaker 1: athletic line, and so every at midnight she will release
- 10:54Speaker 1: these collections and they only do like a small portion
- 10:58Speaker 1: of the plus side, and so if you get on
- 11:00Speaker 1: right at midnight, you're gonna miss it. So that time
- 11:02Speaker 1: I was missing getting the order, and so jokingly I said,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and you know, the Bible says you have whatsoever you say,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and I said, out of my mouth, I'm gonna create
- 11:12Speaker 1: my own athletic wears just like that. It was a
- 11:14Speaker 1: joke and I just threw it out there. But when
- 11:17Speaker 1: you throw things out into the atmosphere, you know, those
- 11:19Speaker 1: angels received it. And so I said it and I
- 11:21Speaker 1: could not shake it. And so about three years ago,
- 11:24Speaker 1: now this one was a little different from UM for
- 11:27Speaker 1: I Wear because I had challenges. I had hurdles with
- 11:30Speaker 1: this one because you have trademarks and you have you know,
- 11:33Speaker 1: you have to go through manufactures. It was just a
- 11:35Speaker 1: little different for me. And so three years ago I
- 11:39Speaker 1: started out with this product. And this is really good
- 11:41Speaker 1: for some people who may want to give up. I
- 11:43Speaker 1: started out and my trademarks did not go through because
- 11:47Speaker 1: the logo that I had was too similar to another one,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and so I had to start all the way over
- 11:51Speaker 1: after printing so many labels, and and so I learned
- 11:54Speaker 1: a valuable lesson from that, you know, So I was disappointed.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I sat for a little while and I still couldn't
- 12:01Speaker 1: shake it, and so I worked hard, you know, to
- 12:04Speaker 1: make sure. And people will tell you now a lot
- 12:06Speaker 1: of women are getting there their products. I made it
- 12:08Speaker 1: for the curvy woman. A lot of times we get
- 12:11Speaker 1: these types. They roll down, they slide down and don't
- 12:13Speaker 1: fit right. You can't work out, and I did a
- 12:16Speaker 1: lot of study about the plus sized body and what
- 12:18Speaker 1: will fit and what type of material and fabric to use.
- 12:22Speaker 1: And so for three years, I worked hard and I pressed,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I studied, and I make sure that these these garments
- 12:27Speaker 1: would fit properly and everybody will have them. Now they're saying,
- 12:31Speaker 1: oh my god, they don't sly down, Oh my god,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and that it's just blessing me because that's what I
- 12:35Speaker 1: worked so hard on to make sure that they fit
- 12:38Speaker 1: properly and that we're comfortable and we feel great in them.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And so you know, for anybody you're out there you
- 12:45Speaker 1: want to start a business, don't give up. If you've
- 12:47Speaker 1: got some hurdles that you gotta jump over, the mountains
- 12:50Speaker 1: you gotta knock down. Sometimes it's not gonna come to
- 12:52Speaker 1: you easy, but you got to keep on working. I'm Tasha, Okay,

- 16:54Speaker 1: films including House Party, Awesome, Boomerang, Classic Baby's Kids, Classic Django, Unchained,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and Start My Board. Jamie Fox and Marshall you know, hey,
- 17:06Speaker 1: my man Black Panther and that one executive Busing writer
- 17:09Speaker 1: of the animated TV series Black Panther, executive producer Boondocks.
- 17:14Speaker 1: He's on the show to day to talk about this
- 17:16Speaker 1: his first that's what the that's what the bio said,
- 17:18Speaker 1: his first feature Lynch documentary, The Black Girlfather, which is
- 17:22Speaker 1: currently airing right now on Netflix. Please work with the
- 17:26Speaker 1: money making conversation, my dear friend, Reginald Hutland, come on now,
- 17:33Speaker 1: black godfather Clarence Avant. I had a chance in the
- 17:40Speaker 1: two thousand I was in there and Steve Harvey was
- 17:42Speaker 1: doing radio and l A blowing up. We took a station.
- 17:46Speaker 1: It was nineteen in the market. It was number one
- 17:48Speaker 1: and six months so we were Who's who black radio
- 17:53Speaker 1: a radio period in l A. And everybody kept telling me, Chean,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you gotta meet this guy, Clarence Avon. He's uh, you
- 18:02Speaker 1: gotta meet him, man, you gotta meet He's kind of
- 18:05Speaker 1: like you. He's kind of like you in a lot
- 18:06Speaker 1: of ways. But he's a bad man. I will tell
- 18:09Speaker 1: you this, Reginald. I did not meet him after watching
- 18:13Speaker 1: this special, The Black Girlfather, which I am recommending everybody watch.
- 18:17Speaker 1: All right, he's special. Man. How did you come across
- 18:21Speaker 1: the story and how were you able to put all
- 18:24Speaker 1: of this, all of this footage together? Man, there's so
- 18:27Speaker 1: many clearances you had to do to get all this
- 18:29Speaker 1: stuff clear? Do I love that you went straight to
- 18:34Speaker 1: the business side. How the movie got me? Yes, man,
- 18:39Speaker 1: I'm talking about I'm talking to people. You're watching this special.
- 18:43Speaker 1: It's amazing the journey this young man had through his life. Okay,
- 18:47Speaker 1: coming from the South, going to Chicago in l A. Presidents,
- 18:53Speaker 1: you know the fact that he Um, but then I
- 18:56Speaker 1: think I did not go business though, Reginald. Go Okay, uh, okay,
- 19:00Speaker 1: that needs to be cleared. Okay, that needs to be clear. Okay,
- 19:02Speaker 1: how did you get permission of that? That needs to
- 19:04Speaker 1: because Stan Lathan sitting up in there, you know Lyon
- 19:07Speaker 1: Richie sitting up in there. You know l A read
- 19:10Speaker 1: Baby facing up in there. You know Jimmy jamm and
- 19:13Speaker 1: Terry Lewis sitting up in there. It's just a list
- 19:16Speaker 1: after listen, President Barack Obama sitting up in there. President
- 19:20Speaker 1: Bill Clinton sitting up in there, talking about this man.
- 19:22Speaker 1: This is what this special is about. And I'm leaving
- 19:25Speaker 1: out a whole lot of names because guess what you
- 19:27Speaker 1: need to watch and be stunned at this man's ability
- 19:31Speaker 1: to be able to communicate at every level of our society. Reginald,
- 19:37Speaker 1: how did you get this story and how did you
- 19:38Speaker 1: get started? Well? Crazy enough, I met him at the
- 19:44Speaker 1: beginning of my career in show business. Um. I made
- 19:49Speaker 1: some little short films, and when I started doing music videos,
- 19:56Speaker 1: all my music business friends would talking about Clarence Andre
- 20:01Speaker 1: Horrendo Russell Simmons. They talked about plans like he was Zeus,
- 20:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like he was he was
- 20:07Speaker 1: model Lympus level like you know. Uh, so I knew
- 20:11Speaker 1: he was important. I knew he was at the top
- 20:14Speaker 1: of the food chain. But then I get a call
- 20:18Speaker 1: from George Jackson mckenry, who were black producers making movies,
- 20:24Speaker 1: and Jason absolutely and George was a few years ahead
- 20:35Speaker 1: of me in college. So he said, oh, I know
- 20:37Speaker 1: this young kid, he just graduated. He's got a little
- 20:40Speaker 1: student film called House Party. He's talented. So they called
- 20:44Speaker 1: me out to l A for a meeting about a
- 20:47Speaker 1: movie that was supposed to start Janet Jackson. And the time,
- 20:52Speaker 1: Janet Jackson had just done her first album, uh you know,
- 20:55Speaker 1: a control that really had broken out, and you know,
- 20:59Speaker 1: the time was hot, coming off a Purple Rain. So
- 21:03Speaker 1: they were like, let's do a movie with them together.
- 21:05Speaker 1: So they brought me out there and Clarence met me
- 21:07Speaker 1: at the airport, which I knew was a big deal
- 21:11Speaker 1: because Clarence was the man. And so then they brought
- 21:16Speaker 1: me to his house, which was in the beautiful home
- 21:20Speaker 1: in Beverly Hills filled with the most amazing black art.
- 21:23Speaker 1: It was like a museum. Uh. And then I'm looking
- 21:27Speaker 1: around and then I see an Andy Warhol painting and
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm like, WHOA, that's that's stuff. You see a museum,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and it's in this man's house. And then I met him,
- 21:36Speaker 1: and he was everything everyone claimed to you was. He
- 21:39Speaker 1: was wrong, he was real, He cut to it at
- 21:43Speaker 1: the same time, you know, you knew he was the
- 21:45Speaker 1: man that just made things happen. And then over the
- 21:49Speaker 1: years and all my kind of show business, you really
- 21:52Speaker 1: can't do too much without hearing Clarence names evoked one
- 21:56Speaker 1: way or the other. Whether it's music, business, of politics,
- 22:01Speaker 1: or whatever it is, Clarence is always up in there. Uh.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So I knew I wanted to tell his story because
- 22:10Speaker 1: we all respected him, our whole generation of books who
- 22:14Speaker 1: worked entertainment, Black folks who worked in entertainment. I don't
- 22:17Speaker 1: care if you're in the music business, movie business, whatever.
- 22:20Speaker 1: You respected Clarence a Van And I thought, well, I
- 22:24Speaker 1: want to tell his story. Clarence did not want his
- 22:27Speaker 1: story told. He was like, I'm not writing a book.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I'm not doing this. I'm not doing that. So finally,
- 22:34Speaker 1: his daughter Nicole that will maybe not a book, maybe
- 22:38Speaker 1: let's do a documentary. And he agreed to that, and
- 22:41Speaker 1: then she asked and well, who do you want to
- 22:43Speaker 1: make it? And he said, well call Reggie. I like
- 22:46Speaker 1: Reggie and that you know boom. Now when you get
- 22:51Speaker 1: that called, that's like a papal da, that's like a Vatican.
- 22:55Speaker 1: You do go, yes, sir, you get on it. And
- 22:59Speaker 1: but it's also but there's also some fear in that too,
- 23:01Speaker 1: when you say, because you know, you know the body
- 23:04Speaker 1: of work that you how do you do the beginning,
- 23:06Speaker 1: middle of the end, because this is an incredible beginning
- 23:08Speaker 1: because we could have stayed on the beginning when you
- 23:10Speaker 1: got started, you know, gainst the relation background, that was
- 23:13Speaker 1: a whole story yourself. You know, that's a movie really,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you know, that's a movie really right there. So I
- 23:19Speaker 1: want to I know, we've got two minutes left in
- 23:20Speaker 1: this interview, and I just got to talk about the
- 23:23Speaker 1: a CP Image Awards UM which has become the award
- 23:26Speaker 1: show that it always should have been. Is it recognizes
- 23:31Speaker 1: Anthony Anderson has been Anthony Anderson has been amazed as
- 23:33Speaker 1: the host. What do you feel that you brought to
- 23:36Speaker 1: the table that now makes this show. They must see it,
- 23:39Speaker 1: must attend show, must attend show. Well, well, thank you.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we worked hard on a couple
- 23:47Speaker 1: of things. One is, we wanted to make sure the
- 23:50Speaker 1: full range of black Hollywood was represented, you know, not
- 23:54Speaker 1: just your friends, but you know, okay, here's an exciting
- 23:57Speaker 1: new voice. Oh, let's make sure we are of the legends.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Make sure we you know, folks who are working in
- 24:03Speaker 1: unusual parts of entertainment for black folk. We want to
- 24:07Speaker 1: make sure everybody's represented. And then the second thing is
- 24:11Speaker 1: and we you know, and you know, our our black
- 24:14Speaker 1: talent are Latine or Latin talent are Asian talent are
- 24:18Speaker 1: white allies, They're all welcome. You know. We make sure
- 24:22Speaker 1: the show starts some time and then sometimes live show.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Everyone knows. We handle our business like it's no CPT,
- 24:30Speaker 1: it is JPT. And and and then the last part
- 24:36Speaker 1: is we try to keep up in the production values
- 24:38Speaker 1: a little more every year. How can we top ourselves?
- 24:41Speaker 1: How can we make it better? So now people are like, whoa,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you know what, I may or may not win that
- 24:47Speaker 1: Oscar this year, but I know my family with the
- 24:53Speaker 1: ACP and black folks are going to embrace me and
- 24:56Speaker 1: give me the love. Our may or may not get
- 24:58Speaker 1: that at me, or may or may not get that grammy,
- 25:01Speaker 1: but I know when I come home, I'm going to
- 25:04Speaker 1: get the warm embrace. That awesome brother Reginald is always

- 28:48Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making Conversations. My man ain't saw
- 28:51Speaker 1: him in a long time last Alonzo. Hey, Hey, what
- 28:56Speaker 1: I'm doing? Good my friend. First of all, Man know,
- 29:00Speaker 1: I know you. I know you have your faith, I
- 29:03Speaker 1: know you. Your career is tied to hard work. Just
- 29:07Speaker 1: just a blessing man to see the diversity oh your resume.
- 29:11Speaker 1: That's what really impresses me about your performance schedule. Man,
- 29:15Speaker 1: Can you talk about that a little bit? Thank you? Man. Yeah, Man,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I mean I've always wanted to, uh dibble and dabble
- 29:23Speaker 1: and do you know as film as well as TV.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Uh Right now, TV is at a level where, uh,
- 29:30Speaker 1: it's just as good and in some cases better than film.
- 29:34Speaker 1: So you can really get a lot done in both
- 29:36Speaker 1: mediums where you're reaching people in their own home theaters
- 29:40Speaker 1: and at the same time doing stuff, you know, in
- 29:42Speaker 1: a traditional sense, which is you know TV, I mean
- 29:45Speaker 1: that film and having people come out and make it
- 29:48Speaker 1: an event type of situation, which is what you know,
- 29:50Speaker 1: Fast and Furious and Avatar. That's event type of films
- 29:54Speaker 1: where people playing around, going to those you know, the
- 29:56Speaker 1: Marvel movie things like that. We know, there's justest thing
- 29:59Speaker 1: that anybody because I gotta mentioned because every time I
- 30:01Speaker 1: don't care what it is. But I'm going to watch
- 30:03Speaker 1: the last forty minutes of Avatar. I'm gonna watch it.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I gotta see you die, man, get get shot off
- 30:10Speaker 1: the back of that plane. You know, it's sad after
- 30:14Speaker 1: you get that big old speech to my man and
- 30:16Speaker 1: everybody rallying behind him. That movie, man, was that Was
- 30:20Speaker 1: that a career changer for you or just on your
- 30:22Speaker 1: resume because it just became so big and he became
- 30:26Speaker 1: big to the world. Yeah, man, I mean it's still
- 30:30Speaker 1: the highest gross and some of all time. Uh. The
- 30:35Speaker 1: Avengers Endgame just re released trying to take us down.
- 30:39Speaker 1: But I don't think they're not gonna do it. Thirty
- 30:43Speaker 1: seven million sharp, bro, that's a lot to make up
- 30:45Speaker 1: on the movie, man, because the thing about they did
- 30:48Speaker 1: well though, that ain't nothing to you know that. You know,
- 30:51Speaker 1: you can't take it away from him. They did a
- 30:53Speaker 1: great movie too. I enjoyed it. I want to go
- 30:54Speaker 1: see it absolutely. But um, but yeah, man, I think
- 30:58Speaker 1: what I think even we were surprised, be honest with
- 31:00Speaker 1: you about Avatar because I remember when we were filming
- 31:02Speaker 1: this multi um, James Cameron would tell us, you know, uh,
- 31:06Speaker 1: don't expect to beat Titanic. Told he said, our success
- 31:11Speaker 1: or failure is not whether or not we beat Titanic.
- 31:15Speaker 1: He said. The difference between Nothing Titanic was was you
- 31:18Speaker 1: had a young you know, good looking Leonardo DiCaprio where
- 31:22Speaker 1: high school girls were going out to see it, you know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: five six times a week with all their girlfriends. You know,
- 31:28Speaker 1: all the little high school girls. They were like, high
- 31:30Speaker 1: school girls are gonna come out to see Blue People
- 31:33Speaker 1: five or six times a week. And so so our
- 31:37Speaker 1: expectations weren't to be in the number one spot. We
- 31:41Speaker 1: just wanted to do a great film. Man. I think
- 31:43Speaker 1: sometimes you know, when you stay focused on the craft
- 31:46Speaker 1: and you stay focused on doing the absolute best. Yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you know, for me, it was this was my opportunity
- 31:52Speaker 1: to do my Star Wars. You know, I wanted to
- 31:57Speaker 1: be in Star Wars when I was a kid. I
- 31:58Speaker 1: grew up watching Star Awards. That was the movie that
- 32:01Speaker 1: I grew up idolizing. So when I got this opportunity,
- 32:03Speaker 1: I said, Okay, this is my Star Wars. And so
- 32:06Speaker 1: I was already happy to be in the film. Um
- 32:09Speaker 1: once as I started for the first time, you know,
- 32:12Speaker 1: we screened it and it was crazy because at the time,
- 32:14Speaker 1: you know, Arnold Swartznaker was governor, you know, Steven Spielberg
- 32:18Speaker 1: was at the screen and I didn't expect to see
- 32:20Speaker 1: all these types of people at the screening. And I
- 32:23Speaker 1: was like, Okay, I hope I did a good job,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And uh, and I was.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I was pleasantly surprised. Man, Like, thirty minutes into the movie,
- 32:34Speaker 1: I didn't care who was in there. I was so
- 32:36Speaker 1: locked in. I was like, Okay, we really made something
- 32:39Speaker 1: special here. That's when I started to really really feel it.
- 32:42Speaker 1: You know the thing about it, I I I look
- 32:44Speaker 1: at it because I know who you are, you know,
- 32:47Speaker 1: as an as an Areen actor, and I know a
- 32:49Speaker 1: lot of people who don't understand about it. It It actually
- 32:51Speaker 1: will work to do those type of roles. Were you
- 32:54Speaker 1: morphing into character makeup and all that stuff and blue
- 32:57Speaker 1: screen and green screen, all kinds of stuff to be
- 33:00Speaker 1: to accomplish those casts that's a lot of work, and
- 33:02Speaker 1: that that means you have to be patient, you have
- 33:04Speaker 1: to be polite, you have to be aware that it
- 33:07Speaker 1: might it might be one, two, three, or four or
- 33:09Speaker 1: five six takes to get it right. What holds you
- 33:12Speaker 1: true to your craft when people see the success of
- 33:14Speaker 1: your story? And I know the journey way back in
- 33:17Speaker 1: the l A back in two thousands, you know, when
- 33:19Speaker 1: Steve Harry and I were doing the radio and you
- 33:21Speaker 1: were just just like everybody else. Man and I guess what,
- 33:24Speaker 1: we're not comfortable. But you know, back then there were
- 33:26Speaker 1: no options. It was just I had a dream, right,
- 33:29Speaker 1: talk about that journey, right? Um? You know want for me? Um?
- 33:33Speaker 1: You know the first partiest question when you talk about
- 33:35Speaker 1: the transformation, that's what I pride myself on. You know,
- 33:39Speaker 1: uh I didn't want to be one of these actors
- 33:43Speaker 1: that played the same exact character every single movie where
- 33:46Speaker 1: it really seems like they're playing themselves. You know, if
- 33:48Speaker 1: you can imitate an actor, then they didn't transform, you know,
- 33:53Speaker 1: they gave you what they always give you, whereas uh
- 33:56Speaker 1: I wanted to always become a completely different human being
- 34:00Speaker 1: in every single role, to the point where you don't
- 34:02Speaker 1: recognize him where it's an unrecognizable person from me from
- 34:07Speaker 1: Yann say, well, we do this new series called The Boys.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Now you play the superhero in this series? Are you play?
- 34:16Speaker 1: Are you playing a superhero in this series? Ah? So,
- 34:20Speaker 1: here's the thing, man, it really defines on what It
- 34:22Speaker 1: really depends on what you define superher because you know,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I mean our superheroes good or our superheroes bad people?
- 34:33Speaker 1: You know, having superpowers all of a sudden make you
- 34:36Speaker 1: a hero or does it just mean that you're just
- 34:39Speaker 1: a bad person with some superpowers? You know, those are
- 34:42Speaker 1: the That's where our show is different from a regular
- 34:45Speaker 1: superhero show. The measure happy because this is pretty deep
- 34:50Speaker 1: what you just said here last okay, because you you
- 34:52Speaker 1: step back on me. Hold up, now, what what do
- 34:55Speaker 1: you mean a superhero? Because because you know our black
- 34:59Speaker 1: panthera you know, not nine hours I would to avenge
- 35:02Speaker 1: just na na na, so so I wouldn't. And saw
- 35:06Speaker 1: some of the trailers and it was talking about like
- 35:08Speaker 1: this just this company called Vote right, yeah, and they
- 35:12Speaker 1: have these superheroes, but they're not nice superheroes. Correct. Well,
- 35:18Speaker 1: what what it talks about is is superheroes really are
- 35:21Speaker 1: just people. They're just human beings that have a little
- 35:25Speaker 1: different power than you have. You know, your power might
- 35:27Speaker 1: be the food on the table every night for your children.
- 35:30Speaker 1: You know, your power might be, you know, to donate
- 35:33Speaker 1: some bone marrow to somebody that needs it. Or your
- 35:35Speaker 1: power might be to donate some blood, you know, somebody
- 35:38Speaker 1: who's dying and needs a blood transfusion. Or trust me,
- 35:40Speaker 1: you've got more power than the superman can if your
- 35:43Speaker 1: blood saved their life or their mama's life, or the childlife.
- 35:46Speaker 1: You know. So it really depends on how we define
- 35:48Speaker 1: hero in this particular world. And the Boys, the so
- 35:51Speaker 1: called superheroes are just people that still have They have
- 35:55Speaker 1: all these great superpowers where we consider superpowers, but they're
- 35:58Speaker 1: still insecure, they're still they still have uh, they still jealous,
- 36:05Speaker 1: suffer from jealousy and envy, they still hate on each other.
- 36:09Speaker 1: And so what we do as the Boys is we
- 36:14Speaker 1: decide we're gonna pull the sheet down and we're gonna
- 36:17Speaker 1: expose who these so called superheroes really are. And sometimes
- 36:23Speaker 1: you don't need powers to be able to do that. Okay, okay, okay,
- 36:27Speaker 1: but that's a danger though, if you don't have powers,
- 36:30Speaker 1: trying to mess with people with powers correct, exactly exactly.
- 36:34Speaker 1: We are a team of vigilantes that are gonna defend uh,
- 36:40Speaker 1: what's going on right now because we have these people
- 36:43Speaker 1: with powers that are supposed to be the good guys
- 36:46Speaker 1: and we discover that they are also doing some pretty
- 36:49Speaker 1: bad things. Now it says the powerness against the superpowerful
- 36:53Speaker 1: as the Bars embark on the heroic quest to expose
- 36:56Speaker 1: the truth about the Seventh and the company they work
- 36:59Speaker 1: for called vow the multibillion dollar conglomerate that manages these
- 37:03Speaker 1: superheroes and cover of all their dirty secrets. So how
- 37:08Speaker 1: do you get involved? How do they recruit you into this?
- 37:11Speaker 1: This this, I guess a vigilante team. Well, I'm gonna
- 37:15Speaker 1: tell you, man. Like, after I finished my last series
- 37:19Speaker 1: for NBC called Mysteries of Mysteries of Laura, I decided, okay,
- 37:24Speaker 1: from from my next phase in my career, I want
- 37:27Speaker 1: to work on stuff that really really speaks to something
- 37:31Speaker 1: that's happening in society, something that really, you know, addresses something.
- 37:36Speaker 1: And so the first project that I worked on after
- 37:40Speaker 1: that series was a film by the name of Detroit
- 37:43Speaker 1: that talked about the nineties that a Detroit riot, you know,
- 37:46Speaker 1: and that was That was during the time when Kaepernick
- 37:49Speaker 1: was kneeling and there was a lot of police violence,
- 37:51Speaker 1: you know, on a daily basis, we would get bombarred
- 37:53Speaker 1: with somebody got shot, and I felt like that was
- 37:56Speaker 1: the type of project that I wanted to work on
- 37:58Speaker 1: at that time. Um. After that, I worked on the
- 38:01Speaker 1: film with Dion Taylor, Robert Frederick Smith, the brother that
- 38:06Speaker 1: donated you know, all that money to Morehouse the graduates
- 38:10Speaker 1: to get him out of debt. Um. He was the
- 38:11Speaker 1: executive producer, Rock Santavan executive producer. Then a movie called Traffic,
- 38:16Speaker 1: and I was reunited with h Paula Patton worked with
- 38:20Speaker 1: Omar Appx Roslan Sanchez and that movie we talked about
- 38:23Speaker 1: sex trafficking, which we don't talk about it in US.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I mean, Atlanta is the number one city where sex
- 38:31Speaker 1: trafficking happens in the United States of America. The first two.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Sacramento is number two. You know. So this stuff is
- 38:39Speaker 1: happening right under our noses, and it's people of color
- 38:43Speaker 1: that are suffering the most, and nobody's talking about it. Um.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And then this this show came around and when I
- 38:50Speaker 1: read the log line, I said, this is this is
- 38:53Speaker 1: in the same light of the type of projects that
- 38:57Speaker 1: I want to be a part of, projects that means something,
- 38:59Speaker 1: not explosions for the sake of explosions. But you know,
- 39:03Speaker 1: here we're talking about a society where people have unchecked power,
- 39:08Speaker 1: and with unchecked power comes corruption and how does how
- 39:11Speaker 1: do regular people stand up against and resist that corruption?
- 39:17Speaker 1: And I think if you turn on the news every day,
- 39:19Speaker 1: we see examples of that happening every single day. So
- 39:23Speaker 1: I felt like this project was timely, I felt like
- 39:25Speaker 1: it was on point. I felt like it was entertaining
- 39:28Speaker 1: and crazy. And crazy thing is it's based on a
- 39:31Speaker 1: comic book that was written back in the nineties, right right,
- 39:34Speaker 1: right right, you know the thing that you know about
- 39:38Speaker 1: your emotions and your passion, and this is that the
- 39:41Speaker 1: reason of exciting about this series now, because you're telling
- 39:43Speaker 1: me that all these series was super because these superpowers
- 39:47Speaker 1: or X Men is just about racism. You know, the
- 39:50Speaker 1: people who are different, they get treated different. That's all
- 39:52Speaker 1: X Men is about. That's really all about super That's
- 39:54Speaker 1: all this is about people. People can can can throtade
- 39:58Speaker 1: at you, and these superheroes who are treated differently. That's
- 40:01Speaker 1: why that's why the Avengers became such a because people
- 40:05Speaker 1: became afraid of them. And that's why, you know, Tony
- 40:07Speaker 1: Stark and Captain America had issue. They want to control
- 40:11Speaker 1: them by signing these people paper. You can't do any
- 40:13Speaker 1: of these things just because you're different. And that's all
- 40:15Speaker 1: you're saying about this series. This series just exposes people
- 40:18Speaker 1: who are considered special but have the same issues as
- 40:22Speaker 1: people who are not considered special. So the vision last
- 40:25Speaker 1: group called the Bars are there to correct the wrong
- 40:28Speaker 1: or a perceived success story that really isn't successful. That's powerful, man,
- 40:32Speaker 1: that's powerful. Oh boy, it's gonna be fun, man. But
- 40:39Speaker 1: at the same time, you know you're still gonna get
- 40:42Speaker 1: what you want out of the TV and your blood
- 40:48Speaker 1: and your explosions and all that stuff. Supero trauma. Hey man,
- 40:52Speaker 1: this is this is awesome. This is awesome. Yeah, but
- 40:56Speaker 1: you know we also covered some real stuff too. Well
- 40:59Speaker 1: that's what I like about it. And you know, I
- 41:01Speaker 1: want to wrap up saying this to you, man, is uh.
- 41:03Speaker 1: You know, first of all, thank you for taking the
- 41:05Speaker 1: time to come on the show. You say special brother,
- 41:07Speaker 1: and I keep praying for you, man, cause uh you're

- 43:17Speaker 1: Hi This ra Sean McDonald. You're listening to money making conversations.
- 43:20Speaker 1: It's always great to uh have new guests on my
- 43:23Speaker 1: show also like my repeat guests because it shows us
- 43:26Speaker 1: about motivation, that shows about giving it everyone. Give people
- 43:29Speaker 1: a clear understanding that hard work is the top choice
- 43:35Speaker 1: in order to achieve your opportunity. Faith is important. I
- 43:39Speaker 1: think faith there's a motivator, but hard work is tied
- 43:42Speaker 1: to faith. And so and I always tell people, when
- 43:46Speaker 1: you have all those two things, what is your goal?
- 43:48Speaker 1: What was your plan for being successful? And so I
- 43:50Speaker 1: probably bring individuals on the show who have different layers
- 43:53Speaker 1: of success, so you you know that success can be
- 43:56Speaker 1: achieved in two different fields through different opportunities. And when
- 44:01Speaker 1: you get it, when you get that shot at success,
- 44:04Speaker 1: go forward. And also you should be prepared when you
- 44:08Speaker 1: get that shot at success. I always tell people that
- 44:11Speaker 1: the reason a lot of lottery winners go broke to
- 44:15Speaker 1: say that they're not preparing themselves for that financial success.
- 44:17Speaker 1: So when they get it, then it goes out the
- 44:20Speaker 1: door because they wouldn't the mentality or the having nothing
- 44:24Speaker 1: countering in place. You really, if you're gonna have played
- 44:25Speaker 1: a lot of real on the regular basis, you should
- 44:27Speaker 1: know who your accountant is gonna be. You know who
- 44:29Speaker 1: you're gonna invest in. You should act like you're going
- 44:31Speaker 1: to win. You should take meetings with different stock brokers. Look,
- 44:35Speaker 1: I'm playing a lottery every week. When I win money,
- 44:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna come to you. How do you think I
- 44:40Speaker 1: should spend my money. That means that you have a
- 44:43Speaker 1: plan for success. I knew that sounds extreme, but guess what,
- 44:46Speaker 1: anything that you do on a regular basis should should
- 44:49Speaker 1: be prepared in an extreme format. As it is, getting up,
- 44:53Speaker 1: getting up, and getting out of bed. It's pretty extreme.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I would like to stay in my bed, but guess what,
- 44:57Speaker 1: I gotta get up. I gotta get up, take a shot.
- 45:00Speaker 1: You know, I could eat my baby. But if I
- 45:02Speaker 1: keep eating my baby, I'm eventually to get up because
- 45:03Speaker 1: the big gonna get dirty. So know that anything you
- 45:06Speaker 1: do in life is prepared to a different level of success.
- 45:08Speaker 1: My next guest, she's young, she's years old, and I
- 45:13Speaker 1: mean said she's she figured it out, and so it
- 45:16Speaker 1: took me a while. I was still uh. I was
- 45:17Speaker 1: seeing you're out of college, trying to figure out what
- 45:20Speaker 1: I wanted to do, working at IBM and telling jokes
- 45:22Speaker 1: at night, so you know, I didn't know what I
- 45:24Speaker 1: was doing. My next guest went from making six dollars
- 45:27Speaker 1: and fifty cents an hour to own at one point
- 45:29Speaker 1: seven million dollars worth of properties. Like I stated early,
- 45:32Speaker 1: she's a twenty five year old and she's a mother
- 45:35Speaker 1: with an amazing testimony. Please work on to money making conversation.
- 45:38Speaker 1: The CEO of Rosebuds Investment dubbed the millennial millionaire Jemisa
- 45:44Speaker 1: like I for thank you, thank you. Then I think
- 45:49Speaker 1: I need to take you everywhere. Well guess what I
- 45:51Speaker 1: would mind. You know, I wouldn't mind following you. You know,
- 45:55Speaker 1: you know I would say good things about you. All
- 45:57Speaker 1: I needed to do was add some applause. So where
- 46:02Speaker 1: are you calling me from? So I'm in Pennsylvania. I'm
- 46:06Speaker 1: originally from Philadelphia and I just moved like to upstate
- 46:10Speaker 1: Pennsylvania two hours away from your Pennsylvania native. Yes, okay, cool? Good.
- 46:18Speaker 1: So what exactly is Rosebud Investments rolls Bus Investments is
- 46:25Speaker 1: the company that I started, but I like to say
- 46:28Speaker 1: that it's more of a lifestyle. So what happened is
- 46:32Speaker 1: when I was about nineteen years old, um my grandmam,
- 46:36Speaker 1: which is my dad's mom, she started to ask me
- 46:39Speaker 1: questions about the house that she she lived in, Like
- 46:41Speaker 1: if something was to happened to me. You know, what
- 46:44Speaker 1: would happen to my house? What would happening you know,
- 46:47Speaker 1: all of those things that I clearly didn't have to
- 46:48Speaker 1: answer to. But what we did was we put myself
- 46:52Speaker 1: on her d, which is called a dollar D transfer, right,
- 46:56Speaker 1: so I think it cost about a dollar and then
- 46:59Speaker 1: I did from insurance stuff and the title you know,
- 47:02Speaker 1: that might have been three hundred. And that was fine.
- 47:05Speaker 1: So remember I'm an eighteen years old at that time,
- 47:07Speaker 1: I had one child, um, and that's when I was
- 47:10Speaker 1: being the best casher in or. I got to talk
- 47:12Speaker 1: to you guys about that, being the best cashier. But
- 47:16Speaker 1: what happened that she did a dollar D transfer with me.
- 47:18Speaker 1: She put me on her d, and it was fine.
- 47:20Speaker 1: It literally meant nothing to me because this was the
- 47:22Speaker 1: house that she had lived in my whole entire life.
- 47:25Speaker 1: So I didn't understand the dynamics of what was done,
- 47:29Speaker 1: just going through the process making grandma happy. You know,
- 47:34Speaker 1: she's peace of mind. You know, Okay, I'm a team
- 47:37Speaker 1: making it happy. Yeah, that's it, And I'm like, okay, great, whatever.
- 47:41Speaker 1: So it's like you have a house at that point.
- 47:42Speaker 1: At that point, I was a homeowner. But to me,
- 47:46Speaker 1: you know, I didn't know the dynamic. She still lived there,
- 47:48Speaker 1: so I'm still looking at it like, you know, this
- 47:50Speaker 1: is grandma's house. Um, she died, like I want to
- 47:54Speaker 1: say a year after that. She may have known what
- 47:58Speaker 1: was going on. I will say that she wasn't the
- 48:00Speaker 1: healthiest person. She was overweight, and she had breathing problems
- 48:04Speaker 1: like a co op dingy which started off as asthma
- 48:07Speaker 1: but gradually you know, going So she wasn't the healthiest,
- 48:09Speaker 1: which may have sparked that conversation that she had with
- 48:12Speaker 1: me when she did it. Um, so she died, whether
- 48:16Speaker 1: it was sudden, you know, was unexpected, she died, so
- 48:20Speaker 1: she stanched away, and you now have this house in
- 48:22Speaker 1: your home. So then this is the thing, it's in
- 48:25Speaker 1: my name. Now that's when reality actually set in for
- 48:29Speaker 1: me because it's like, okay, this was my house, but
- 48:31Speaker 1: now and this is like my house house you mean,
- 48:33Speaker 1: like the maintenance to taxes, like all of this is mine,
- 48:37Speaker 1: right because remember her living there, I didn't have to
- 48:39Speaker 1: do anything. She kept everything as is really you know
- 48:43Speaker 1: whoa So at that point, um, that was my first
- 48:47Speaker 1: brush with reality, like my first like okay, you have
- 48:51Speaker 1: to be responsible, like this is something that you're gonna
- 48:53Speaker 1: have to do. And at that point, I was pregnant
- 48:57Speaker 1: with my second child. There's this little girl, um and
- 49:01Speaker 1: if you ever have the pleasure of meeting her, the
- 49:03Speaker 1: way that she is now is exactly how she was then.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Meaning she gave me a run for my money the
- 49:08Speaker 1: whole time. Right. So during this part of my pregnancy,
- 49:13Speaker 1: my water bag rup shurety didn't break and had me
- 49:16Speaker 1: on bed rest. She was putting me through the motions,
- 49:18Speaker 1: and I did not have time to really, you know,
- 49:22Speaker 1: do all of the things I end up doing anyway.
- 49:24Speaker 1: So the first step after she passed away was I
- 49:26Speaker 1: had to go through the family feud. Money tends to
- 49:29Speaker 1: bring out the best verse of all people. So you
- 49:33Speaker 1: have to keep in mind that I am her grandchild,
- 49:35Speaker 1: but she has like ten grandchildren. Um, she also has
- 49:39Speaker 1: children who are twice my senior, my father being one
- 49:42Speaker 1: of them. That I have three uncles and I and
- 49:44Speaker 1: they're all like older than much Olderance and you and
- 49:47Speaker 1: you got the house, she gave it to me, uh listen.
- 49:54Speaker 1: So that didn't go over too well with people. Um
- 49:58Speaker 1: my grandmom's requests when she gave me the house, though
- 50:01Speaker 1: they were really specific. One she wanted me to be
- 50:03Speaker 1: the landlord of the house that was the family house.
- 50:06Speaker 1: She didn't want us to sell it because that's all
- 50:08Speaker 1: we had. I remember her saying, that's all we got.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, So she wanted me to be the landlord.
- 50:14Speaker 1: I'm responsible to anybody lived there. They went to pay
- 50:17Speaker 1: me rent um. She didn't want anyone arguing over it.
- 50:20Speaker 1: And that was pretty much it. Well, that was a
- 50:23Speaker 1: request that she remained. But we know the arguments came. Listen,
- 50:28Speaker 1: and that's what I was gonna say, Like, that was
- 50:31Speaker 1: almost impossible what she was asking of. I mean, she
- 50:34Speaker 1: knows who were related to That's why she gave it
- 50:36Speaker 1: to me. You want them to pay me grandma. They
- 50:38Speaker 1: don't pay me mine? Hello, Like so she she pretty
- 50:41Speaker 1: much stepped me up. So with your company, Rosebud Investments,
- 50:46Speaker 1: So so do you do you have clients? How does
- 50:49Speaker 1: that work? Because we have two minutes left in this interview,
- 50:51Speaker 1: I want to make sure we get that out about
- 50:53Speaker 1: Rosebud Investments. Yeah, listen, I have a lot of clients
- 50:57Speaker 1: all over New Orleans, Miami, and man to what happens
- 51:01Speaker 1: is I hold your hand through the new investor process,
- 51:05Speaker 1: and it's personalized. So I'll hope you create a step
- 51:08Speaker 1: by step blueprint for yourself no matter where you are.
- 51:11Speaker 1: If you have credit, no cash, I'll talk to you
- 51:13Speaker 1: about leveraging your credit, purchasing properties with credit cards. If
- 51:17Speaker 1: you have cash, no credit, I'll talk to you about
- 51:18Speaker 1: building your credit. I even give my clients fourteen thousand
- 51:21Speaker 1: dollars where from unsecure credit to boost their score. If
- 51:24Speaker 1: you're somebody doesn't that doesn't have eyes or I'll talk
- 51:27Speaker 1: to you about purchasing that six hundred dollar property you know,
- 51:30Speaker 1: helping you shallotte for a few thousands. So now you
- 51:32Speaker 1: have the capital to invest in your credit and you
- 51:35Speaker 1: know to be able to build. I hope you create
- 51:37Speaker 1: that foundation. I have helped hundreds and hundreds and hundreds
- 51:42Speaker 1: of people become homeowners without the whole mortgage thing, the
- 51:46Speaker 1: tax returns, the eight hundred credit scores. Like I help
- 51:49Speaker 1: people from ground level because a lot of people they
- 51:53Speaker 1: have a musical screwed. They think you need credit in
- 51:55Speaker 1: a million dollars and you don't need that. You just
- 51:58Speaker 1: need to be educated. So that's what I do. I
- 52:00Speaker 1: educate you. I hold your hand through the process. I
- 52:02Speaker 1: walked through the door. You get a house. You're happy.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I'm happy, and we keep it going. We keep it going.
